The Strange Case of Balaam
COMMENTARY:
Trump has been on a losing streak since he reneged on a deal with Chairman Kim to shave his head and broker a peace treaty between the sovereign states of the Republic of Korea and Democratic Peoples Republic, Not shaving the head was the deal breaker, If he had shaved his head and promoted Melania's Be Best East Wing Legacy Project, he would be working on his acceptance speach for a Teddy Roosevelt Nobel Prize from the Resolute Desk and Melania Trump would have shared a Nobel Prize with Abdullah II for the completion of the Abraham Covenant, I mean, 2 impeachments and 34 gulty vericts later, his trajectory has been a swan dive into an empty pool .He was on a advertisement just before the featured video about the talking donkey, He looks like a deflating Macy Day baloon deflting, Bruce, here's the thing: right now, Christina Nationalism is being held together by the original sin of the PResbyterian Church USA, Wookrow Wilson slove owner Jim Crow bigotry, It's structural, going back to James Madison and Federalist 10, which is cribbed from John Knox's Book of Discipline to good the evver, the US Constitution to be precise. John Knox was not a white supremacist and James Madison was and that little twist of parochial interest to what is the structures of an infinite game,  rit I'm related to Woodrow Wilson, but I'm from the League of Nations BLM/Reparations/DEI side of the family, When I got back from Vietnam, there was no such thing as a DEI hire in corporate America, but the Democrats on Capitol Hill were totally DEI, I'm a hard-wired Eisenhower Republican and all Democrats make me crazy, but once upon a time, I did a geat deal of very creative and fun work with Democrts working with communities around affordable housing, For example, we scouted a number of properties for projects may have been at the leading edge of Habitat for Humanity, My point is that the Presbyterian Church USA needs to consciously, collectively and consensually repent of your racist core of rot. John Knox had been a slave on a French galleon before he composed the Book of Discipline, James Madison had a vested interest in sustaining the status quo, racially. This is what you get when you add Hegel back into Post Modern Historic Deconstruction, Hegel rejected Calvinism, which offends lawyers, The Westminister Confession is supposed to be a masterpiece of rational theology, but anything more complicated that the Apostle's Creed is, at best, redundant. Covinism violates Free Will, which is the essence of Luther: the Roman Inquistion violated Free Will and the TULIP docrine convey's that heresy into Protestantism,, Which is why George Washington was a Deist.

Mary Wells Lawrence High-Profile Advertising Pioneer Dies at 95
When she was 18, she enrolled in the Carnegie Institute of Technology in Pittsburgh, where she met Bert Wells. They were married in 1949, divorced in 1952, remarried in 1954 and divorced again in 1965. In 1967 she married Mr. Lawrence, Braniff’s president. Mr. Lawrence died in 2002. In addition to Ms. Bryan, Ms. Wells Lawrence is survived by another daughter, Pamela Lombard; a stepson, State Lawrence; a stepdaughter, Deborah Lawrence; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ms. Wells Lawrence wrote ad copy for a Youngstown department store and was an ad manager for Macy’s in New York in the early 1950s before joining the McCann-Erickson agency in 1953. She rose rapidly, but she felt undervalued. She joined Doyle Dane Bernbach in 1957 and became a $40,000-a-year vice president in 1963. Her first memorable ad was for French tourism — a photo of an old man and a child, behind him, riding a bicycle on a country road. “Think you’ve seen France?” the caption read. “Think again.” In 1964, she took a $60,000-a-year senior partnership with Jack Tinker & Partners, one of many agencies in the Interpublic Group. The job, she told Fortune magazine, held “the promise of eventual command.” She and a small group, including Mr. Rich and Mr. Greene, known as “Tinker’s Thinkers,” rented an office away from Madison Avenue’s bustle and devised the Alka-Seltzer and Braniff campaigns. In 1966, having several high-profile campaigns under her belt and feeling entitled, Ms. Wells Lawrence asked for the presidency of Tinker & Partners. Her boss, Marion Harper Jr., the president and chairman of Interpublic, told her that he would give her presidential authority but not the title — a woman, he said, could not win acceptance as president. Spiegel Takes Over at PGA Tour Superstore
By ED TRAVIS
It’s been just a few months since Jill Spiegel took over the job as President of PGA Tour Superstores and already her presence and leadership style are being felt.
Spiegel succeeded Dick Sullivan, the former President, and Chief Executive Officer, who moved into the spot of Executive Chairman and CEO. Sullivan, who is considered by many to be one of the top golf retailing executives in the country, oversaw PGATSS growth to become of the largest specialty golf and tennis retailer.
The promotion to President makes Spiegel one of the highest placed women in the golf industry and she brings to the position more than ten years of experience with the company, most recently as the PGATSS Senior Vice President and Chief Merchandising Officer.
Michigan native Spiegel’s first job at PGATSS when she started in 2011 was Vice President Merchandising Soft Goods. Prior to that she held merchandising positions at Belk Department stores and was Vice President of Planning for New York-based Macy’s.
In an exclusive interview during the recent PGA Show Spiegel was frank in her assessments and how she plans to move store sales upward capitalizing on the steep growth over the past two years when PGATSS sales doubled.
She immediately emphasized a primary focus in the new year will be on customer club fittings with a revamped approach to the instore Studio experience in all their locations. This has already begun with additional training for club fitters and a multimillion-dollar investment in the Fitting and Services departments plus, and certainly a marker of the depth of commitment to employee education, a new Performance Training Center for store associates has opened.
Spiegel’s most revealing comment was, “We’re here to help the game’s growth through the relationship of our store associates have with customers.” Part of the relationship building will be the continuation of programs to bring new golfers into the game especially women and juniors.
Growth plans for this year include opening eight new stores in among other locations Raleigh, Oklahoma City, Boise, and Chicago. The same number were opened in 2022, all in cities where PGATSS did not have a presence and at the end of 2023 will bring the total number to 64.
In an aside Spiegel also pointed out women like to shop for apparel at PGATSS. She said there are large differences between selling golf clothing and golf clubs and a different focus is required. With a much shorter lifecycle than hard goods apparel must have the latest styling and a large brand assortment which requires seasoned apparel buyers on staff, tight inventory control with frequent markdowns plus creative display and knowledgeable personnel.
Its clear golf attire has become a lifestyle choice for many, and Spiegel said in fact that at some of their warm weather resort locations women’s apparel outsells men’s upending the usual thinking.
As the official retailer of Women’s Golf Day, PGATSS is a longtime supporter of growing the game and have a companywide program for young women called “Girls Got Drive.”
For PGATSS growing the game is not just a nice sounding phrase and hasn’t been for a number of years. Each store offers weekly no cost clinics to juniors plus there is additional support to organizations introducing women into our sport such as “She Who Golfs,” “Fore the Ladies, and “Women on Course.”
Spiegel also commented on the First Tee life and leadership training as well as golf instruction and how her company will continue to be involved.
For the third-year store general managers in conjunction with local First Tee chapters will teach a Leadership Series for teens. Upon completion of the Series, 40 students will be tapped to attend a First Tee Summit at PGATSS owner Arthur Blank’s West Creek Ranch in Montana. Four scholarships of $20,000 will be awarded at the Summit.
Plus, this year for the first time, in addition to the 40 students selected for participation in the Montana Summit, 48 students will be selected to participate in the week-long inaugural Atlanta Leadership Academy to be held in June.
An example of PGATSS’s progressive thinking a trial instituted at the new Milwaukee Wisc. store memberships to the nine simulator hitting bays have been sold. Seating behind the bays encourages friends and family to watch and play games on the simulators together. Spiegel said this was “not unlike a Topgolf entertainment center though on a much smaller scale and serves to foster socialization around the golf experience in a group activity.” It becomes one more step to involve new people in the game potentially converting them to oncourse play and purchase of apparel and equipment.
Spiegel also noted that pickleball racquet and ball sales are “exploding” reflecting the enormous increase in those playing and general interest in the game. This was apparent at the PGA Show where pickleball courts drew a constant crowd of attendees watching exhibition matches that included Tiger Woods’ former golf instructor Hank Haney.
Jill Spiegel steps into Dick Sullivan’s role as leader of an aggressively growing company that is a recognized leader in golf retailing and committed to programs making the game more inviting to women and juniors and turning nonplayers into players.

Pauline Hanson holds taxpayers accountable for libel case journey

Fyfe raised eyebrows in his speech when he stated that the DJs were “the oldest department store in the world still trading under its original name,” which we thought was worth fact-checking, and whose story is being verified. David Jones – founded in 1838 – is already older than places like Harrods (1849), Liberty (1875) and even the famous Macy’s of New York (1858). As for Selfridges, they are a relative newcomer to the trade, founded in 1908. off and race The Freedom Party — a sort of coalition of disparate anti-lockdown elements that formed in time to contest next month’s state elections — may be a minor player, but the CBD likes the way it thinks very much. Trans men “unknowingly admitted” to Catholic seminaries, bishops' committee alleges
Tumblr media
The National Catholic Reporter reports that Milwaukee Archbishop Jerome Listecki, who serves as the chairman of the bishops' Committee on Canonical Affairs and Church Governance, told the nation's bishops in a Sept. 22 memo that they might consider "various options" to ensure that only people assigned male at birth are ordained to the Catholic priesthood:
In his recent memo, Listecki says his committee had been made aware of "instances where it had been discovered that a woman living under a transgendered identity" had been admitted to a seminary or a religious institute's house of formation.
In one instance, Listecki wrote, an individual's "sacramental records had been fraudulently obtained to reflect her new identity. In all instances, nothing in these individuals' medical or psychological reports had signaled past treatments or pertinent surgeries."
You might argue that if priests and their congregations see a trans man as a man, that should be good enough for everyone.
Christianity has actually a long history with trans men living as male monks, so it is not as if Catholics cannot cope with trans men in a constructive way. It is just that the Catholic church leaders do not want to.
On the protestant side, trans and nonbinary men and women are becoming more accepted, as proven by Megan Rohrer being ordained bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America.
Many protestant churches have also, for many years, ordained women. Indeed, researchers argue that  the Catholic Church also ordained female priests all the way up till the 11th century. Gary Macy writes:
A radical change in the definition of ordination during the 11th and 12th centuries not only removed women from the ordained ministry, but also attempted to eradicate any memory of women's ordination in the past.
So you might also say that the exclusion of trans men is the end result of the exclusion of women, given that these church leaders see trans men as women.
The illustration above is of Saint Marinos, who was assigned female at birth, being led into a male monastery by their father in fifth century Lebanon. This saint  is celebrated on June 18 in the Roman Catholic Church and on other dates in other traditions. Marinos was not ordained as a priest, though.
Here’s a clip from a Lebanese movie about this saint:
youtube
By the way, I am glad to note that the National Catholic Reporter refers to trans men as trans men. I doubt that this is done by accident.
Note that if a trans man was ordained as a priest in the Catholic Church, that ordination would probably not be considered valid given the current theology of this church.

"At the center of the investor campaign is an argument that ensuring employees have access to reproductive health care services, including contraception and abortion, and receive parental benefits gives companies a competitive edge in recruiting talent, enhances diversity and inclusion efforts, and prevents obstacles that could decrease worker performance or career trajectory.
"At a House Financial Services Committee hearing on Tuesday, Rep. Katie Porter, D-Calif., urged Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell to include women in the workforce and access to child care as factors in contemplating monetary policy.
"'Women in the workforce are actually a bigger driver of economic growth than technology companies,' Porter said. 'In the span of four decades since the 1970s, 38 million women joined the workforce. Without those women, our economy would be 25 percent smaller.'
"Rhia Ventures released a report this month that said 56 percent of women who attended college say they wouldn’t apply for a job in a state that had recently banned abortion.
..."The investor groups are asking Progressive and Macy’s to report by Dec. 1 on the risks and costs that could result from proposed or enacted state policies impacting reproductive rights, as well as any strategies they have developed to minimize or mitigate these risks, including through lobbying.
..."Investors have found that many companies provide health insurance coverage of abortion services for employees without exception, but coverage of contraception is varied. Companies also have a deeply entrenched belief that they’re neutral and not involved in political debates on abortion, investors say.
"Alpern said lobbying and political contributions that ultimately fund candidates or groups backing abortion restrictions do implicate companies.
..."[N]eutrality is no longer an option for companies.
"'They risk losing one way or another — you’re going to risk losing customers, you’re going to risk losing employees,' Trillium’s Pearce said. 'So it’s kind of like companies almost have to take a stance, and just trying to be neutral is something that you can’t really do.'"
As with LGBTQ and marriage protections, as with the bathroom bill, and now with women's reproductive health and bodily autonomy, the vulnerabilities of businesses must be pitted against the relentless extremism of conservative politics. The business world cannot afford the out of control political malice that conservatives have embraced against women.
