I have a Dasypeltis egg eating snake whom I feed eggs! I got her as a young hatchling from a breeder, so I went through finch eggs, and am now on very small coturnix eggs (seller calls them "fairy farts"). I got lucky, and found some local finch and quail breeders for my girl. I found them through asking in local finch/quail-keeping groups on Facebook (since I'm in Missouri, I asked in the Midwest Finch Breeders group). If owners fail to find local eggs, there is a group for that, called "EE Snake Lovers Looking for Eggs :)". To those considering that, be warned that there is a very limited supply of eggs.

To you, OP, I'm a bit unsure on the safety of using wild birds' eggs. I know egg eaters at least can/will eat any fresh, raw bird eggs they can fit in their mouths, so size, species, and nourishment stuff isn't a concern. But I'm worried about any potential germs or bacteria on the eggs. Maybe it's not any different from the quail eggs I feed my snake and I'm making a big deal out of nothing. But maybe ask in a specialized FB group, just to be sure? "African Egg Eating Snakes (Dasypeltis sp.)" is a great group for egg eater owners for those looking for EE info, and may have people who can provide relevant info on eggy diets, though you may want to look in another group for your Boiga.

Several House Sparrows have nested in my birdhouses and provide meals for the juvenile #BoigaCynodon by regularly laying eggs. The eggs are about half the size of #ButtonQuail and are the perfect size for this snake. This is the third harvest of three eggs each time. I hope they continue to lay throughout the summer. I know of #EggEatingSnake keepers using this strategy as an alternative to breeding #ZebraFinch and I have found it successful so far. Here i am again with a thought i had about the Finch for years. Like there are multiple.. but where i get confused is with the names..

watch me make you confused as well, i'm really good at it.

okay so.. We got the goudvink (bullfinch) in the next 2 pictures. Also never seen before in my life but hyperfixation back then made me google all the finches.

^ At least they gave this bird the right name The American Gold finch only for the dutch people to call it the 'Goudsijs' because they thought 'amerikaanse goudvink' is just too long *eye roll*

Still after all these years i feel like they named them wrong, at least in dutch..To me the Appelvink (hawfinch) looks more gold then the goudvink (bullfinch)...

Now i got something else because my brain decided to just write 'goldfinch' because why would you name it differently in english and google came up with this bird:

This is the European goldfinch, in dutch it's called 'putter' or 'distelvink'

WHY DID THEY HAVE TO CHANGE NAMES LIKE THAT?! WHY DO THEY NEED TO MAKE IT SO DAMN HARD?!

They did however keep the Zebravink (zebrafinch) the same name and the tail and spot by it's eye makes it correct for me.

oh this is all a bit confusing BFBSHBF but its fun to see how things differ between languages and stuff!! off of this list ive only ever seen goldfinches and zebrafinches with my own eyes before but i love them all !! fhdhfj

(the zebra finches ive seen are in a cool public aviary hence the bars fjdhbf they sound like squeaky dog toys btw!!)
