Initially, I was conflicted by Se-ra’s masturbation scene, as I felt that the level of explicitness was unnecessary. I was so convinced that exposing her addiction was sufficient. However, I came across a tweet by ldh_kenki, who translated the caption attached to her poster : “Sara - the hand that mocked and broke others”. Now this explicit scene for me has such a powerful purpose.  The hands that were used to hurt DE and many other victims + bring them to their knees, are now the same hands that lead to Se-ra’s downfall. She used her hands to hit and burn people, and now the exact same hands burned down her facade of a ‘good, churching going girl’ ... and it was done in a way that also mocked her ... whereby her once allies now made fun of her actions/hypocrisy. After years of watching shows use sex scenes as a filler or a form of violence, it’s great to see a s ex scene have such symbolism and be a major plot point. This show is just so damn brilliant.
Edit:
Also, I just realized that the cameras recording her was meant to parallel all the times she stood by and recorded YJ bullying various victims.

Night Has Come
Tumblr media
TV Shows/Dramas watched in 2023
Night Has Come (2023, South Korea)
Director: Im Dae Woong
Writer: Kang Min Ji
Mini-review:
I've been obssesed with the Mafia game for years, so I was really excited when this sort-of-adaptation was announced. But tbh, it's nothing extraordinary. While it's very fun and it keeps you glued to the screen, it's also very silly. What's more, pretty much all the characters are incredibly dumb and frustrating. Although I have to say that's part of what makes the show fun. You just can't help but stick around to see how these characters mess things up even more. Hell, they make so many stupid decisions that I actually found myself screaming at the TV more times than I'd like to admit. Some of the twists did catch me by surprise, but the ending was... not good. I had already guessed the writer would pull something like that, but it was actually worse than I expected. Anyway, Night Has Come isn't good, but I had a fun watching it and it kept me entertained, so that's something.

My Demon. 8
Story: 8
Acting: 10
Chemistry: 10
Comparable to: Goblin (kdrama); Tale of the Nine Tailed (kdrama); Doom at Your Service (kdrama)
If you’re familiar to the dramas above then you’ll probably absolutely love this drama. It’s a cheesy romcom fantasy that you switch your brain off. You squee, you giggle, you roll your eyes at the ridiculous dialogue and setups the characters are in/deliver but secretly love it too. I will not stop laughing and squeezing over that kiss garden. Totally ridiculous, totally cute. Oh and yeah chemistry in this, top tier.

The Glory
Tumblr media
This 16 episode-long series kept me hooked from beginning to end. My mom and I devoured it. It was hard to watch in many instances because it shows very violent bullying scenes among teens. And the audience can feel the desperation of the victims and the frustration when the adults don't help or those that want to help are taken out of the equation. It is one of the victims of this group of friends-bullies who decides to avenge all the damage these people did to her and other victims. Usually, in these kind of stories, revenge is executed following the law, but that's not necessarily the case in this series.
The Glory is about the anti-hero. Those that have been victims of abuse or a violent act, coming together and taking down those that hurt them in subtle ways. these people are broken and you can see it in their eyes and actions. The planning is brilliant but celebrating their glory is also kind of disturbing. It is paying violence with violence. But the audience sympathizes because those cruel teens are worse as adults, they don't feel remorse for what they did and they keep causing harm to others and therefore, you want justice to be served on them.
The storyline is very well developed, the characters as well. It is a good series to watch, but I would say that this one is for ages 16+ since, unlike most of the Korean dramas we are used to, this one has some graphic scenes scattered around.
Again, I recommend it.
