Simplified Summary :
When it comes to haircare, it truly does depend on each persons hair, no product is one fits all. If you like a product, and your scalp feels clean while your ends feel moisturized, continue use.
Healthy hair habits take priority over products. Keeping your scalp clean is number one, to do so depends on how often you wash. There is no right amount, it is okay to wash daily or weekly. If washing daily, use a shampoo that is lower in surfactants, aim for ones that say “okay for daily use”. If washing once a week, or twice, use one with higher surfactants (clarifying shampoo). If at any point your hair feels as if there is product buildup or the scalp is itchy use clarifying shampoo. number two is to condition frequently, you can condition before or after shampooing. It is helpful to pre-oil your hair 30 minutes prior to showering with coconut oil, coconut oil is the only oil proven to effectively enter the hair cuticle and can help protect against water damage. if you are going days without shampooing, spraying it with conditioning spray or oil on the shafts only is helpful. number three is small habits, dry your hair with a microfiber towel. keep shampoo only on the scalp and conditioner on the ends. squeeze out any excess water out prior to applying conditioner and let it sit for at least 2 minutes, longer if you can. use gentle hair ties and claw clips. put your hair in a protective style before bed. eat properly, get enough rest, and make sure you are hitting protein goals for biotin production. never brush your hair while it’s wet, and don’t over brush. use a leave in conditioner after washing, and avoid heat styling.
ingredients : shampoos and conditioners have a team of hair chemists formulating them carefully, so most haircare products are safe to use, but some are better based on added ingredients. ingredients like proteins, peptides, keratin, butters, oils, silicones, citric acid, glycerin, hyaluronic acid, lactic acid, and salicylic acid can improve hair. when choosing hair products, aim for ones that have these ingredients higher on the ingredient list
despite fear of silicones and sulfates, they are recommended by dermatologists and trichologists. the only ingredient you should avoid is formaldehyde. formaldehyde has different names, so avoid at all cost anything that says formaldehyde, methylene glycol, formalin, formic aldehyde, paraform, formol, formalin (methanol-free), FYDE, formalith, methanal, methyl aldehyde, methylene oxide, tetraoxymethalene, oxomethane, and oxymethylene. these are mainly found in special treatments and heat products, legally these can be called “formaldehyde free” if using it in a different form. (the ones listed above that are not verbatim “formaldehyde”)
affirmations
i love taking care of my hair, it’s so soft and fluffy. it never tangles and always is super shiny. it never breaks, my split ends always repair immediately. it grows so fast, inches every week. my hair smells so good and feels so bouncy ૮꒰ྀི⸝⸝> . <⸝⸝꒱ྀིა

Idk if anyone's as picky about bath and body products as I am but I defs could use some advice. Due to needing to tighten my budget all around I've cut back on my usual pricey products and opted for more economical stuff that still gives me similar enough results. I've gotten pretty much everything down except for a conditioner.
I've been using Veganese by Lush for years now since I first tried it. it's so expensive but my hair HATES everything but this. This is the only conditioner that doesn't make my hair feel weighed down and heavy. It's the lightest conditioner Lush sells.
I've been trying so hard to find another product like it, but anything I find close enough to it the kicker is I'm allergic to peppermint, and peppermint is The choice ingredient in conditioners geared towards oily hair.
Anything else I find sans peppermint is chock full of oils... I don't want argan oil or avocado oil or anything like that. Here's a copypaste of the Veganese ingredients:
Agar Agar Gel (Gelidium cartilagineum) , Fresh Rosemary Infusion (Rosmarinus officinalis) , Lavender Flower Infusion (Lavandula angustifolia) , Cetearyl Alcohol , Water (Aqua) , Propylene Glycol , Cetearyl Alcohol and Sodium Lauryl Sulfate , Lemon Oil (Citrus limonum) , Benzoin Resinoid (Styrax tonkinensis pierre) , Fresh Lemon Juice (Citrus limonum) , Cetrimonium Chloride , *Citral , *Limonene , Fragrance , Methylparaben , Propylparaben .
I greatly prefer like, handmade stuff over name brand things since they put so much synthetic shit in them (like silicones FUCK silicones) they never make my hair feel healthy. I also prefer liquid over solid bars but I'm not unwilling to try one.
If anyone has any recommendations let me know ;-; If I have to just spend almost $40 per container of conditioner for the rest of my life so be it, like it's really not me trying to be like I'm Too Good For Anything Not Luxury it's the fact that the sensory issues from hair feeling heavy is agony to me orz
(lush also has a history of eventually discontinuing products I love so I have like a constant anxiety someday I'll walk into the store and see Veganese gone forever and then I'm fucked.. so if there is just anything else out there that suits me I may as well find it )

Review of Elizavecca's CER-100 Collagen Ceramide Coating Protein Treatment
Elizavecca is a brand that has 20+ years of history in making skin care products, they’ve expanded somewhat internationally. Their purpose is to create and develop different kinds of skin therapy in order to help make your skin healthy. Their CER-100 Collagen Ceramide Coating Protein Treatment is designed as a rich, deep repairing treatment mask for damaged, over-processed hair of all textures. Key ingredients include: 10ppm of ceramide NP (moisturizing, improves elasticity, aids hair growth, nourishing), 100ppm of hydrolyzed collagen (anti-aging, aids in collagen-production, aids hair growth, improves hair health), panthenol (hydrating, moisturizing, adds shine and gloss to hair, improves hair strength) and hydrolyzed wheat protein (maintains hair elasticity, prevents hair weakening, seals in moisture). This product retails for between $8-10 USD, you can get it here for $8.29 + free shipping.
Ingredients
Water, Cetearyl Alcohol, Behentrimonium Chloride, Glycerin, Amodimethicone, Cyclopentasilxane, Citric Acid, Isopropyl Alcohol, Cetrimonium Chloride, Sodium Benzoate, Dimethicone, Trideceth-12, Panthenol, Fragrance, Tocopheryl Acetate, Caramel, Butylene Glycol, Cornus Officinalis Fruit Extract, Rehmannia Chinensis Root Extract, Dioscorea Japonica Root Extract, Alisma Plantago Aquatica (Common Water-Plantain) Extract, Paeonia Suffruticosa Root Extract, Poria Cocos Extract, Ceramide NP (10mg), Alcohol, Hydrolyzed Silk, Hydrolyzed Collagen (100ppm), Gelatin, Hydrolyzed Keratin, Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Extract, 1,2-Hexanediol, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Hydrolyzed Corn Protein, Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Phenoxyethanol, Daucus Carota Sativa (Carrot) Root Extract, Brassica Oleracea Italica (Broccoli) Extract, Apium Graveolens (Celery) Extract, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Brassica Rapa (Turnip) Leaf Extract, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Extract, Brassica Oleracea Capitata (Cabbage) Leaf Extract, Ethylhexylglycerin, Solanum Lycopersicum (Tomato) Fruit/leaf/stem Extract, Illicium Verum (Anise) Fruit Extract, Caprylyl Glycol
To quickly note, I received this free from 0.8 Liter for my honest review, this post is not sponsored.
Tumblr media
The treatment contains 100 ml (3.38 oz) and has a powdery, perfumey scent.
Tumblr media
It comes in a plastic squeeze tube and it's easy to dispense.
Tumblr media
The texture is creamy and smooth.
Tumblr media
After using it and rinsing it out, it left my hair shiny and soft.
Recommended use is after shampooing, dry off with a towel and apply to whole damaged parts of your hair and gently massage in. Rinse out with tepid water after 5-10 minutes. After using, this hair treatment is very effective if you have dry and damaged hair. It instantly smoothes the hair and makes hair infinitely more manageable after it is applied, it's quite easy to comb through the hair with a wet brush or your fingers. The ingredients are all very nourishing and moisturizing and it gives the hair a nice shine without being greasy. Though it's best to avoid using oil afterward as it can leave hair looking greasy and kind of messy. There's also a pretty strong powdery, perfumed fragrance which isn't ideal if you're a fragrance-free type of person. I'd recommend this to people with dry and damaged hair.
What I like: the hair treatment works quickly and makes hair extremely smooth and easier to manage. The ingredients are nourishing and moisturizing and it really helps hair to shine and feel very soft. It's really great for dry hair. What I don't like: I personally like the fragrance, but it could be a no-no for other people.
Pros:
Moisturizing
Nourishing
Nice ingredients
Gives hair a lovely shine
Makes hair more manageable
Smooths hair well
Cons:
Fragrance
Would I buy this?
Yes
Rating: 10/10

ENVIRONMENTAL RESOURCES.
PART 1: TRUTH AND RECONCILIATION AND SUSTAINABILITY
UN’s sustainability goal of reduced inequalities aims to reduce inequality within and among countries. This goes hand in hand with Canada’s Truth and Reconciliation Committee that aims to rid the inequalities between aboriginals and non-aboriginals due to past attempts at assimilation through cultural genocide and the history residential schools in the past that was created to make the first nation community in Canada to let go of their culture and beliefs. Moreover, The UN’s sustainability goals of good health and well being and no poverty mirrors the Truth and Reconciliation committees’ agenda of eradicating extreme poverty within the first nations community and making sure they can access health care and other basic life necessities that will allow them to live a comfortable life. When it comes to well-being, the truth and Reconciliation committee sheds light on empowering indigenous women who have been subjected to a lot of gender focused violence including rape, kidnappings and homicides across Canada in order to end the violence against aboriginal women. UN’s goals of peace and justice also aligns itself with TRC’s goals of reconciliation regarding the injustices that faced by the aboriginal community. However, for this reconciliation to happen justice needs to be provided. As stated by TRC “Without truth, justice and healing there can be no reconciliation” We therefore can see how the truth and reconciliation in Canada can be achieved in relation to UN’s sustainable development goals.
  PART 2: WATCH
Question 1
The talks made me think about how much of importance certain species are to the environment even though they are perceived as otherwise in the society. With vultures we see how they are a species that is seen as unworthy and grotesque when reality is that they keep the environment clean and prevent spread of diseases. Without them the environment would be in turmoil. The talks also made me think about how plants communicate with each other at a much more complex level than what we perceive. We see how the paper birch and douglas fir had a 2-way communication through a connection of underground root systems that enabled them to transfer Carbon dioxide when one tree species was denied of carbon dioxide.
Question 2
I would say that the aspect of nature and biodiversity that is the most important protects is our forests and plant cover. This is because plants play such an important role in our environment. They benefit the ecosystem by providing oxygen for organisms to survive, able to reduce pollution by absorbing the carbon dioxide, they are the basis of most food webs, provide shelter to birds, animals and insects, prevent soil erosion and provide wood fruits and medicines as well
The most important way that we can protect our forests and plants is by educating ourselves and others on its importance and making sure people and society understands how vital plants and forests are for the survival of the ecosystem.
 PART 3: ACTION
Question 1 and 2
I decided to spend my time in nature just as spring was about to set in and I did this at the forks. I sat by one of the benches overlooking the river and just watched how the ice started to melt up and you could finally see some patches of water where ice was. I saw a couple of birds flying about and I could smell the spring fresh air settle in, and the sun was out, and I could feel its warmth on my face. This period made me feel calm and at peace with the nature I was surrounded by and it made me grateful that I could sit back and just enjoy the environment without any distractions.
Question 3
During the jack frost challenge activity in class I would say I enjoyed the opportunity to just be outdoors, the thing that would have made it better for me is if I had more information on what to expect. In future I would love to go bird watching but overall, I loved the experience and it was lovely to be part of it.
PART 4: IN CLASS BLOG QUESTIONS
Human environment connections
Spending more time outdoors and indulging in outdoor activities that involve interacting with the environment around you is one of the major ways that promotes human connection to nature.
Isolating ourselves from outdoor activities or interaction with the environment and allowing the interference of technology or the modern world to get in the way of having a few moments in the environment is one of the ways we can create a disconnection from nature.
By alienating ourselves from nature we tend to diminish the use of many of our senses. We also end up not having an interest in protecting it and we forget how important it is to our lives in terms of food sources, our climate and quality of life.
World views
My environmental ethics lie with bio centrism as I hold the ethical perspective that all life deserves equal moral consideration or has equal moral standing. I therefore believe that all organisms in our ecosystem that include human beings, animals and plants should have equal moral standing subjected to each one of them as they are all important to the ecosystem.
Wild spaces
Yes, parks can meet its dual mandate of access and protection. This can be done by enforcing rules that would minimize human contact with plants and animals and designating areas for human activities in order to minimize disruption of the ecosystem. These are just some of the ways that this can be achieved in Wapsuk national park.
   PART 5: LISTEN
Slow movement
3 challenges
Making that shift from the fast-paced life and own shifting to slow one can be hard to adjust to especially if most of your life was based on a fast-paced way of life, changing your mindset and attitude, rethinking your priorities and rethinking the way you approach life in entirety.
3 opportunities
Re-connection to food, people and the natural environment  helps to preserve natural resources, strengthen communities and increase our physical and mental health and well being, the opportunity to become part of local life and to connect to a place and its people through slow travel, you are able to develop values and ethics that will enable them to live a joyous life in the slow lane.
PART 6: ACTION
a.       The chemicals I investigated from my personal care products (facial moisturizer, hair oil and body wash) included liquidum, stearic acid and cetrimonium chloride. According to the product guide from environmental working group liquidum ranked as good while stearic acid and cetrimonium chloride ranked as fair.
b.       During my one week of purchase I ate out 3 days of that week which included food I ordered. The cost of this was higher as compared to the days I cooked at home. For beverages I consumed about 5 liters of juice and drank a liter of water daily. The environmental impacts were at a minimum as I threw banana peels and fruit remains in the compost and plastic bottles of juice in the recycle bin accordingly. In future I aim to monitor and reduce the amount of plastic I use and also aim to make more home cooked meals in order to cut down on costs for ordering in.
c.       Most electronic wastes have toxins in them, so it is extremely important to dispose them in the right kind of way. In future I would deal with electronic waste by either giving away or donating the devices to other people who may need them or find use for them in other ways. In addition to that, I would look to various buy back programs that buy back used devices at an offer to either upgrade or get some money in return.
d.       For our household reducing food waste is one of the major ways in which we can improve sustainability. This three-step plan is what I came up with to reduce food waste. The first initiative is to shop smart and realistically by not purchasing a lot of food that might go to waste later, knowing how much you need is very important in order to avoid throwing away excess food. The second step is to plan meals for the week, this would create a system whereby you know how much food you need to prepare early enough an the last thing is to use left over to help stretch your weeks meal, that way you don’t need to cook unless you have to or you only cook once you ran out of leftovers.
PART 7: IN CLASS BLOG QUESTIONS
Zoos
a.       Zoos role in conservation should be in research and education that will help the public understand and educate them about the environment from which different species come from in order to help conserve the natural habitats of the animals.
b.       Its ethical to keep some animals in zoos for a short period of time. Animals that may be hurt in the wild or infant animals that do not have parents can be taken in at zoos until they are ready to go back into the wild. Other than that, it is not ethical to keep any sized animal locked up in a cage for recreational purposes.
c.       I enjoy visiting zoos for learning purposes.
Food
a.       I like my food system as it is cheap and easy to manage. This because I can cook when I can and when I’m busy I tend to cook for the whole week that way I don’t have to waste time cooking during the week period.
b.       I dislike the fact that I don’t incorporate as much healthy substitutes to my food as I would like to, but it is something I’m working in the remaining part of the year.
Oceans
a.       My primary concerns about oceans is the amount of waste and pollution that has been going on over the past decades with accumulation of toxins and plastic that have caused the death of several sea animals.
b.       Educating yourself and others is one of the main ways I plan to take part in this fight for environmental justice for our oceans and water bodies. Emphasizing the effect of plastics and spreading the word of better biodegradable substitutes can go a long way.

The Body Shop: Glow-revealing liquid peel -> Vitamin C line
Yes, I do have to work on taking photos... But now let's talk about this little guy and what it does and does not do! Have you tried it already? Let me know!
So, here we are, my first post and I have decided to start off with The Body Shop. For no reason whatsoever. But I do like the brand though, shower gels smell like heaven, body butters are sometimes too heavy but those smells, how can anyone resist them?! If you fall for smell - stay away from this store because it. will. make. you. buy. a. lot. of. stuff. :D Some products worked for me, some not so much. But let's start with this liquid peel and read on to see my review.
They say - it should be ''glow revealing'' for dull and tired skin. Also, because it contains vitamin C rich camu camu, it should bring a certain freshness to your skin, i.e. glow after you apply it, rub it in and wash off. Camu camu, cacari, or camocamo, is a small bushy riverside tree from the Amazon rainforest in Peru and Brazil, which grows to a height of 3-5 m (9.8-16.4 ft) and bears a red/purple cherry-like fruit. Camu camu has an extraordinarily high vitamin C content (on the order of 2-3% of fresh weight,[3] second only to the Australian native Terminalia ferdinandiana), and this property of the fruit has been exploited in positioning it on international markets.
Not sure about you, but this promise sounds lovely. But I am not delusional about what random product can do for me. Skin care is a huge business and marketing departments are on fire! But what I want is my skin clearer and cleaner. I do use coffee and baking soda twice a week as peeling and it worked lovely for me so far, but sometimes I wonder whether all these tiny grains are too much for the skin. So I decided to purchase this, to maybe get more gentle peeling.
General info
Let's do basics first: when added to your daily routine, vitamin C provides a range of benefits, from evening out your skin tone, shielding skin from the visible impacts of pollution, significantly improving hydration, and keeping your skin looking younger, longer. So no wonder cosmetics industry started putting vitamin C on the front line of its skin care routines. With an excellent safety profile, it finds increasing use in photo ageing, hyper pigmentation, tissue inflammation and promotion of tissue healing. Ongoing research has been directed toward improving its delivery into the dermis for stimulating collagen production and scavenging free radicals. Good question to ask is how efficient and effective vitamin C is in any product, taking into consideration that it is highly unstable, especially when exposed to light.
145ml seems to go a long way since I dispense 1 pump for my whole face so I assume it would last long time. Taking that into consideration, I can say I can handle the price from time to time in case I decide to re-purchase.
What it's like?
As you can see - transparent liquid. If you are into ingredients here they are:
Aqua, Alcohol Denat., Propylene Glycol, Glycerin, Carbomer, PPG-26-Buteth-26, Palmitamidopropyltrimonium Chloride, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Quaternium-80, Parfum, 3-O-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid, Mel, Limonene, Behentrimonium Chloride, Cetrimonium Chloride, Benzyl Salicylate, Hexyl Cinnamal, Isopropyl Alcohol, Linalool, Myrciaria Dubia Fruit Extract.
I am no chemist and I definitely do not intend to use Google to analyse every single ingredient and its impact since I do think chemistry is ''a bit more compliacated'' than that :) But what I can tell you is that the liquid is not thick in any way, it is more slippery and thin so you can easilly dispense it on your skin.
Aaaaand....ACTION!
The Body Shop's instructions go like this: Dispense 1-2 pumps of the product onto fingertips, and apply to cleansed, dry skin avoiding the eye and mouth area. Massage into skin for up to 20 seconds until clumps become visible and peel away from the skin.
Reality is: if you do put it all over your face, you will start rubbing and one part will be fine, other part will start drying out in the meantime etc... So my advice is to put small amount on one part of your skin, nose for ex., and rub it in. Then move to the next part of your face. Clumps will start forming. And guess what - no, it is not your skin. If it was your skin, you would be all red and irritated :) This is actually product clumping up. But in fact it should act like some sort of mini glue that will pull off any dead skin you might have as well as impurities. I tried it on one small dry patch under chin I had (now I regret I took no photos of that..) and all the visible dry flakes were gone! So - it does do something after all, it is not some scam, so you can relax :)
Final verdict
You know what? I was skeptical at first, I do have to admit that. And I still am in a way. But my skin does have nicer glow after using this. If nothing - it does seem cleaner. And that is good enough for me. All day at work and around town leaves consequences so I am happy to have something, aaanything, that will make my skin breathe again.
It does not irritate your skin, if you have very dry skin and flaky skin it will also work well for you and hydrating your skin afterwards is a must.
My only wish is that it would do something for this c**p in my pores so I can stop walking around 20min with my weird blue L'Oreal mask :D But hey, I would sort of miss scaring my boyfriend around :D
So, I would recommend the product if you need to get your flakes of or for some reason you can't or won't use scrub on your skin - this will do the trick for you.
