Toshiko Takaezu: Worlds Within
Born in Hawaii to a Japanese émigré family, Takaezu, is a creator of worlds. From her upright cylindrical “trees” to her “moons” nestled in hammocks, her work reflects the natural universe and imagines new ones. The unseen rattles in her closed forms and the woven rugs that accompany her ceramic works add layer upon layer to her art.

Bottle with Peony Scroll, mid-14th century
Yuan dynasty (1271–1368), China
Porcelain painted with cobalt blue under a transparent glaze (Jingdezhen ware)
H. 17 1/2 in. (44.5 cm)
The structured surface of this bottle ultimately derives from the Islamic cultures of West Asia. The designs painted on the surface of the bottle also illustrate the complicated ties between China and other regions in the fourteenth century: the patterns on the neck parallel the cloud-collar designs often found in textiles and clothing in China and the Islamic world; the scrolling peonies that decorate the center of the bottle derive from longstanding Chinese traditions; and the stylized lotus petals on the base allude to imagery found in Indo-Himalayan art. Collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art

ok- I feel like you have the coolest sense of style but still like comfy stuff, and also you have/would want to have a bunch of cool little historical trinkets/replicas
omg I love these, thank you!
i do generally live in like, loungewear-adjacent things or else denim and flannel and sweaters on account of working from home and living in the countryside, but I do like to think I have a cool style ~muscle~ I can flex when once in a blue moon*. occasions are so rare though! last big friend vaca I went on I put together a silly little capsule wardrobe i'm still very proud of that was like, 90s dad on his first tropical vacation except she's a small futch lesbian. one of the best wardrobe decisions i made on that trip was wearing a lavender jumpsuit on the travel days for both warm/cold convertability and also the airport queue compliments.
sometimes I miss being around style but boy does it save money! one thing there's no shortage of here (in appreciation or quantity) is vintage jackets, from like, random events. i have this car rally one i adore and there's a fishing tournament windbreaker i didn't pick up at a shop the other day and now immensely regret passing on. god i'm gonna go look for it now when i go into that town tomorrow
and i WOULD want a whole bunch of cool little historical replicas and trinkets yes please. recently picked up some peak canadiana: an old butter crate! it came in a 56 lb block that got cut in stores. love historic typography (see: crate) and mysterious glass bottles from the 19th and early 20th centuries especially. objects with lives and stories man....
*like tonight/tomorrow! fun fact blue moons aren't blue or anything they're just a full moon in a month that already has had a full moon
(send me your headcanons)
