Outfit prompt: octoshot. I'm currently rocking a full set of octarian armour with mine, all decked out with actually useful chunks because i am boooooring XD

Like Ttek I don't have much to say about the Octoshot. I don't like the main or the special, and it looks cool I guess? But it's not interesting in my opinion. It's simply not for me, and that's fine.

Tried going for a somewhat self-serious look to match the gun without leaning into the aesthetics of the Octarians.

A few days ago i was talking to my dad about cephalopods but he understood "C-phallopods" and commented how he was scared about the implications of that word.

To explain:

What I meant: cephalo = head pod = feet

Cephalopods = animals that have a "head and feet", such as squids

What he thought: phallus = penis pod = feet

C-phallopods = animals that walk on their dicks, category C

I'm so amazed by his mind

okay y'all asked and shall receive. gonna drop my veronika headcanons cause i think about her a lot

okay firstly orientation and all that. i imagine her as being nonbinary and female at the same time but i cant decide on which label fits that (bigender or demigirl are my current options. im indecisive as hell WAH). uses she/they. people usually nickname her rika but hiro calls her ron :)

also adhd haver i think... i love projecting onto characters

for battlegear, they notably dont like, have headgear in a lot of promo art? usually i imagine her using the cephalo pods and wearing them outside of battle to listen to music too. probably listens to music during battle LOL (i imagine deep cut, maybe squid sisters too when shes neo 3..)

personality wise? kind of lines up with common interpretations i think. energetic and a bit wild, a little weird to most. a bit of a prankster, too- if youre confused by her words, she's probably messing with you (lightheartedly, of course). but they can be genuine in moments, mainly toward their closest friends (roommates, in my mind, lol)

speaking of roommates, i like imagining she lives with hiro, ane, and little buddy. specifically moving in with ane and hiro after spending most of her life with little buddy as her only friend. neo 3 or not, i like seeing them as having a close, familial-type bond with them, though that label's never put to it in words. ane and hiro are friends they love turf battling with and against (usually against due to how i have main teams sorted in my brain) but theyve got a little something going on with hiro.. (wow im hironika shipper? no way! crazy)

their main team? i call it yellow team, but not publicly cause i dont wanna get into coroika territory there. its based off of this part of some promo art specifically where theyre with yarrwhal, stephanie, and kayoss :) i still think she battles outside of this team though, mainly w/ hiro and ane (cause she lives with them and all)

main weapon is DEFINITELY tri-stringer. i think she could use reeflux and splatana wiper too.. but theyre the type to stick to a main, despite their chaotic nature

love them as neo 3 but i like neo 3 hiro.. they can both be neo 3 too i think. argh. lots of possibilities there. i think she'd be a great agent, sort of like agent 4 but more chaotic.

extra lil bit of info, i think she likes drawing. cause of like... one thing from a trailer i dont remember the url of. but still.. i think about this wayyy too much

Any thoughts on the roller coaster that is Sleepless Domain Chapter 15’s last ten or so pages?

Yeah: Holy shit.

I don’t know if I can offer much more high level analysis beyond that, but there are some little details I liked, like how Cassidy - whose power is to split herself into two - was in two unrelated magical girl groups, making it doubly ironic that she died alone. 

I like the dramatic irony of Bud casually realizing “Oh, we should tell Cassidy’s team to keep an eye on her” six pages too late for it to matter.

I like how the pattern of the barrier has a bunch of hands throwing out rock-paper-scissors signs, but none of the hands are showing scissors until Cassidy starts beating monsters, causing all the hands to throw her sign.

And then when the fight turns against her they’re all throwing rock.

Also, the only two times we see a hand throwing paper - which we need to see anyway to understand the significance of the fist but is also the sign where Cassidy’s scissors win- are next to word balloons of Kokoro trying to convince Undine to talk about her problems more. That’s because the sorce of Cassidy’s suspicion that set off this whole chain of events is Undine keeping the purple girl a secret. With a bit more honestly, Cassidy could’ve won (this is also reflected in the cover page for the chapter, where Cassidy sits in a puddle of Undine’s spilled (purple!) tea. Cassidy’s death isn’t Undine’s fault, but it’s “downstream” of her secrecy).

I like to occasionally post this Every Frame a Painting video about how whenever “a chair” appears in a movie (or comic), the writer should think hard about what kind of chair, and if there’s a way to get more value out of the chair than just an ass receptacle. This applies to any visual doohickey or effect in your comic, and getting the most mileage out of these little details, and I’m increasingly coming to the opinion that thinking about this a lot is one of the ways a comic writer can cut his pagecount and earn his keep, and this little gimmick with the hands is a great example of that, being a subtle bit of symbolic foreshadowing and even a karmic commentary with the paper signs.   

But what really jumps out at me is how short this chapter is. Not counting the cover, it’s a smooth thirty pages. 

For comparison, the Bath Time chapter of Saffron and Sage is 43 pages, over 33% longer, and it’s basically just this one gag and a really long fight scene.

So much stuff is crammed into this 30 pages, and there’s even time for Zoe and Rue to pop in all “Oh look at us popular minor characters maybe we’re gonna die oooooh wouldn’t that be a twist!”. We have Cassidy getting rejected by Heartful Punch, Cassidy getting unintentionally rejected by Team Flash, Cassidy backstory, team Rue/Zoe, Harley and Bud getting a bit of characterization. So much stuff happened that I’m 500 words into this post and I’m only now getting to

All the Korodine stuff! I don’t know what to say about that stuff, though, besides pointing out some foreshadowing for it

And by “foreshadowing” I mean that it’s all but stated that Heartful Punch and Outrageous Lime used to be an item and Lime implies that HP has a thing for smol girls. 

And then HP schedules a meeting to confess to Undine that gets hijacked by Momtalk revelations thanks to a Goops call and we never actually learn what Kokoro initially intended to be open with Undine about (though at this point we can put it together) (also a chance for subtle worldbuilding is taken here because Kokoro’s phone number is in roman numerals). 

Oh, and that Kokoro’s romantic interest in Undine was so obvious that it was part of why Cassidy hated Undine in the first place, tying everything together in a neat little orange hair bow.
