Mugshot Monday ☕️

It’s only taken 3.5 years, but I *finally* made a mug I love. Notes and video clip below the cut.

Relief-carved porcelain, celadon glazed, and reduction fired. Carve time was ~4-4.5 hours 🙃

I used the matching bowl as a test tile to see if I liked any oxide wash options (to highlight the carved lines).

So it looks kind of weird, but gives me a lot of information. (L to R: copper oxide wash, black oxide wash, rutile oxide wash) I think it’d be cool to carve one of those carnivorous plants and use the copper oxide wash on it bc the reds and greens are so gnarly!

I think I prefer the carvings without the oxide wash. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Anyway, thanks for following along my carving adventures.

I’m going to see how many carved mugs I can make this summer to build up some inventory. Maybe do one drop in the fall? They’re so labor intensive though, I’m not sure anyone would want to pay how much I’d need to charge 🤦🏻‍♀️

Celadon and Amelia

Description

Hamilton chose an English nature poem, "The Seasons," as the subject of this romantic painting. In the section on Summer, the poem tells of the young lovers Celadon and Amelia, a perfect couple who were caught in a summer storm. Amelia was overcome by the powerful force of the tempest and died in the arms of her horrified and distraught lover.

My predictions for A Wild and Ruined Song (AGASV SPOLIERS!!)

No one asked but here is an incomplete list of what I think will happen.

So, since Arlo traded her role as the Hollow Star for Vehans role of Ruin, Vehan will be the Hollow Star, but it won't look the same way as it did for Arlo.

Arlo is going to get a lot of badass revenge (duh).

Celadons going to go on a whole thing if recruiting other courts and people into his new and improved system.

The majority of Vehan and Aurelian chapters they will be together (and they deserve it)

Theo will end up getting the leader of the seelie, and Aurelian will get the Wild but with Vehan helping him as Vehan has far more diplomatic sense.

Lethe will be more comfortable around everyone (yay)

Nausicaa is going to be pissed at Celadon and Lethe.

Nausicaa will get her heart back (and be even more pissed)
