Hi Bluebell! Do you have any suggestions for water fountains for more flat-faced cats? My cat's a moggy, but she's definitely got some flat in her family tree, and all the fountains I see look so...small. I'm worried she won't be able to get her face in there :(

You could look into one that has a little water fall like this one:

This is the Petsafe Drinkwell Multi-Tier fountain (100 oz). This is the model I use at work (three of them! I use several other fountains too, but this was on sale for very cheap so we bought a lot of them). The persians don't have any problem using it.

Mostly they ignore the pool of water at the bottom and drink from the open top or the waterfall bit.

This is the next size up and the one I use at home for my personal cats (and also dog). I've had it for five years now and really like it.

My biggest complaint is that it's got some difficult parts to clean (the tank is very deep and hard to reach with brushes) and that it's plastic. Some cats have plastic sensitivities and, of course, plastic is harder to disinfect.

There's only one fountain at work that I absolutely despise. I don't know the model of it, but it's very similar to Catit's little flower fountain. Only, instead of being plastic, it's stainless steel and also terrible in every single way. I hate it so much. I never thought I would have such strong feelings about an inanimate object that I only have to deal with for a few minutes each day but it makes every one of those minutes terrible.

okay okay you gotta like work with me here, we gotta agree that even though canonically leafpool was a lesbian who was suffering through a great deal of loneliness and isolation that made her attach onto what seemed to be a non-threatening man who offered her a relief from that and what she loved was the feeling of being wanted and not actual love for crowfeather - the authors for some reason think she loved him? crazy, i know. but we'll work in this reality where hawk and leaf aren't gay as hell. are we with me? awesome

The thing about HawkLeaf I enjoy is the drama potential. Leafpool bonding with Hawkfrost, unaware of what he's doing to Mothwing. Him opening up to her, we get to see more of a nuanced view on why he does the things he does: isolation in RiverClan, a sense of being an other. We get to humanize (catitize?) this villain and then, along with Leafpool, watch as things spiral: Hawkfrost is killed by his own brother, his abuse of his sister comes to light, and Leafpool is pregnant with the children of a cat who tried to kill her own father. Like canon did not need a reason to not tell Brambleclaw about the babies (contrary to good dad brambleclaw takes, he would not have been on board lol), but I think the idea that they are his dead brother's children adds to it. It's the drama of Hawkfrost reaching out to his own children in the Dark Forest, offering them protection the only way he knows how. Like do you get it!!! Do you rock with me!!!!!!!!!!!

HawkLeaf, if played as a genuine relationship, is only appealing to me in what it can offer the story. Like not interested in fluff or anything, I like the potential drama of how everyone reactions as this domino tower of shit piles up more and more before it topples in a grandiose mess.

Have you tried the catit water fountain? It has a flower in the middle that makes water stream off of it. Also the flower is removable so the water just bubbles up in the middle

I had an off brand version of that fountain that was basically the exact same thing. I didn’t like it because I don’t like using plastic for water dishes. And while the top piece that they drink off of was stainless steel the reservoir itself was plastic.
