not the vain waiting for a faceless god,

I am completely and utterly convinced that nothing that St. Paul has ever said goes harder than “For it is not I who live, but Christ who lives in me.”

Hello! I am prone to rambling so I will try and keep this as brief as possible.
My name is Veronica. I have a very complicated relationship with my faith. Not going to explain my whole story now, but the bottom line is, I want to be an actual Catholic and I've been having trouble on that front for years.
I was raised Catholic, so I've received the sacraments of baptism and confirmation. I tell people I'm Catholic, and I go to church every Sunday and I have a rosary hanging from the mirror of my car. The problem is, I'm not sure I actually believe in God.
I want to believe in God. I have no reason not to believe in him; in fact I have had an experience that at the time seemed to me to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that he existed. But that was years ago and I'm having doubts again, wondering if maybe I imagined the whole thing.
Though I know it's not the only reason I've struggled with my faith, I do have an awful lot of dumb questions holding me back. That's one of the reasons I'm starting this blog.
The other thing I'm planning on doing is reading the entire Bible cover to cover and documenting that. Basically, I'm going to liveblog the Bible. I have a lot of other things I'd like to read, like the Summa Theologica, the Catechism, and the diary of St. Faustina, but I figured the Bible is kinda the most important one so I ought to start there.
I guess I'm hoping if I start actively practicing my faith, the actual faith part will come along naturally? And maybe that's wishful thinking, but I know something in my life has to change radically, because the way I've been doing things has not been working for me.
So, that's where I'm at. I would be so, so thankful to anyone willing to help answer my questions or support me in my journey back to Christ. Any advice or prayers would be greatly appreciated :)

(I like and follow from @spocks-got-a-glock)
So I made a sideblog for Christianity stuff.
My religious journey is relatively new and I need a space to talk about it, share my thoughts and potentially reach out to others. I don't think my followers on my main blog are a demographic that would be particularly interested though, so it all goes here from now on. There'll probably be a fair bit of content here about my experience as a trans + gay Christian but I will talk about more general things as well.
Please DNI if:
- you're homophobic/transphobic or align with anything other than Side A of the homosexuality + Christianity debate (I accept side B as a personal choice for LGBT people, though I don't agree with the reasoning, just don't tell others how to live their lives)
- you want to have a debate about my faith or about the existence of God; I'm out of steam
- you're antisemitic or islamophobic, or attack other religions unnecessarily. Treat others as you would like to be treated.
- you're a Zionist. Unfortunately had to add this one. Your ideology is not welcome here. Free Palestine.
Please DO interact if:
- you're a trans/gay/queer Christian, or an LGBT affirming/progressive Christian
- you want to have deep meaningful conversations about theology (while staring into each other's eyes with homoerotic subtext)
- you want to share your favourite Christian music/books/art/films/TV shows. Tell me more!
- you're just curious or want to chat. I'm friendly :)

" the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law... If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit. Let us not become boastful, challenging one another, envying one another. "
- Galatians 5:22-5:26

Christian and Catholic Tumblr, I need help solving this.
I have found both on Catholic and Protestant sites, so I know this isn’t a denominational divide, or even if it is, we use each other’s symbolism so often without realizing that the divide might as well not exist. Wouldn’t bother me so much if Peace would just stay put, like pick a week and be consistent 😭. At least Hope and Joy have it together. If anyone knows how this split in symbolism became a thing, please tell me I’m so curious. Is it by country? I want to know.

Trying to detox from toxic ideas internalized as a result of legalistic Christianity while still being Christian is so weird
Like yes my faith is still important to me and sustains me through my worst moments. I heard some wild stuff growing up tho

I don't think I will ever be able to express how much I love Saint Joseph. God made the holiest mortal man on earth a father and a labourer; guardian of the Word Incarnate and terror of demons. There is nothing purer or more fearsome than a loving father.
Saint Joseph, pray for us and guard over us!
