There's no need to excuse Miriam's actions.

Would she have been happier if she'd moved away, gotten a new job and just ignored the whole bunch of assholes for the rest of her life? Or if she'd honestly talked to Eve? Or Tin? Definitely.

Is it her right to be angry and to want revenge and for once get something others have had easily their whole life? Absolutely!

Is she stepping on other people in the way, hurting feelings of the ones who aren't responsible for what happened to her? Sure.

Is it her right to want more from life? More money, more success, love? Always!

She's human and she's complicated. We don't need to excuse her bc what she's doing isn't always right or in her own best interest or nice to others (the poor maid!). But she's also relatable with her dreams and in her fury. And watching her try to live out her revenge is soooo damn good the same way it's making me anxious.

hello friends!

I know it’s been forever since I’ve been on here (and whoa look at that! Tumblr has new features! Will have to play with them later lol) so please forgive me for disappearing. I’ll be making a concerted effort to be more active, having said that, there will be some changes to the blog since (surprise!) I have new interests. For those of you who’ve stuck with me through all of my incarnations I thank you and praise you and am surprised you don’t have major whiplash lol

More crap behind the cut since I feel a rambling coming on...

Most recently I was on twitter for another fandom but ultimately deactivated my account because I couldn’t handle the toxicity. To be fair, it wasn’t the fandom specifically, but just the platform in general. I just realized it wasn’t the platform for me, I much prefer it here (ofc toxicity exists here too, it’s just somewhat easier to control your experience here imo).

Anyway, I changed the description to my blog and created a new sideblog, as I’ve fallen into the kdrama hole and it is now my new obsession. If anyone is interested you can follow my new sideblog linked in my description. It might bleed onto here but for the most part I’ll keep it separate.

I hope to catch up with y’all and would love to know what you’ve all been up to and how you’re faring in these times. My kids are almost done their school year and I couldn’t be more thankful - distance learning has been extremely challenging for me at times. I’ve been trying to read more books as well, will probably make separate posts on those. I’ve also been thoroughly contemplating going back to college, maybe doing a masters program in Asian American Studies (tbh I had no idea this was a thing, it didn’t exist when I was in college although that was in Canada 20+ years ago lol).

For my Frozen friends, I thought I’d share that two of my nephews (both under the age of 3) are obsessed with Frozen right now, and both carry around their Anna and Elsa dolls wherever they go. Whenever I facetime with either of them they always have to show me their dolls lol

I love that with the extended clips this season, we are getting so much insight into Deaf culture and the very different experiences of Noèe and Camille and a whole host of other characters who have such different lives and stories about how they came to be who they are today.

That’s so special that they gave the time for that, not to mention also including other disabilities in that too! Having physical disability and blindness also represented and talked about in a light hearted, youthful kind of way while still educating is so cool.

Having all of that contrasted with the difficulties Arthur is experiencing with the boys and his father etc is quite telling

They do not understand what Arthur is experiencing. He hasn’t come to understand it all fully himself so he can’t begin to explain it to others...

That said, although wrong, the boys and Alexia care so very much. They boys tried in their own messy way and have seriously messed up and caused hurt. But they are such willing souls when it comes to having Arthur in their life. They’re fumbling and getting frustrated and not understanding and I hope at some point they will realise that Arthur is scared and overwhelmed and genuinely struggling against the world and some fundamentals that they’re all taking for granted

I can’t wait to see Arthur feel a little more sure that he has a voice and a standing and confidence in who he is outside of time with Noèe and Camille and the association. They are HUGELY important but we know what the boys and Alexia mean to Arthur and seeing them finally understand why he has been the way he has been will be such an important revelation and hopefully Arthur can assert himself with his father and breathe a bit too!

Prompt Fourteen: Scour

Catrienne Sevin lay in the pool of mineral water, her head resting in the divot created by the pool’s spring source.  Water cascaded over her head, splashing in her ears, sour and stinky and hot and utterly glorious and cleansing.

She’d lost her last bout, and lost it badly.  As she reclined in the pool, she mentally catalogued her injuries; broken scapula, four cracked ribs, a fractured finger and – she snorted, wincing at the pain – she’d broken her nose.  For the fifth time.  

“I’d strongly suggest you consider a new line of work, Miss,” The clucking Lalafell physician told her.  “That shoulder’s in bad shape, and if you continue getting yourself beaten like this, we won’t be able to keep patching you up.”

Cat tilted her head back, letting the water rush over her face, wishing it could scour away her mistakes, her past as easily as it did the blood and dirt. She hadn’t seen Anisai in the better part of a decade, and there was no going back to her past life - even if they had been on speaking terms.

 If only figuring out what to do with her life were as easy as soaking in a hot spring.
