Hey I hope you don’t mind me asking, but what’s the familial dynamic like between your self insert and Frank? And How does Frank get along with your other marvel f/os?

Because from at least my perspective, putting Wanda, loki and Frank in the same room… probably won’t end well. but they also have the common detail of they lost people they care about and are in the grieving process (although the handling of said grief varies).

Do you think they would bond over that shared loss or is it a ‘they are at each other’s throats regardless of the situation’ type of thing? /genuine, lighthearted

Anyways, SORRY ABOUT THIS WEIRD ASK, I’m just curious to see your thoughts / hear about your interpretation/your version of canon source material /genuine

Hey Ridley, I don't mind the question at all!

Source material-wise, I lean more on The Punisher (2004) than Netflix's Punisher, as I haven't seen it yet. And as for my other Marvel f/o's its sort of a mix of everything? Comics, MCU, Fox's X-Men (The animated series specifically for Remy)

Me and Frank met each other during a joint training exercise where he unofficially adopted me as his little Canadian brother, cause I'm a cheeky little shit and he thought it was amusing. This was before Frank was deployed to Afghanistan. And before Loki... Fell.

After I'd heard about what happened to his family, I left the school and went up-state to help, or at the very least keep him in one piece. He never wanted me to get involved, but I was his best man, and I adored Maria, like hell I'd let him deal with it alone. Doesn't matter if I've got my dad's mutation, now, and will live through anything these guys will try and throw at us... Punisher or not, he's still got a big heart.

Frank is like my father, Logan, and has always questioned my choice in Loki, but he made me happy, so they just did their best to intimidate a God.

As you can imagine, it never really deterred Loki in the slightest.

But Frank won't make a move against Loki (unless Loki starts it). And so far Loki's listened to me about not provoking him. Doesn't stop either of them from glaring at the other.

Frank and my dad get along in that weird guy way where they'll sit in silence with each other, and then afterwards they'll both tell you they had a great chat.

(Remy is an alternate timeline f/o from Loki, but Frank isn't a fan. It's not that he doesn't like him, he just wishes Remy would shut up sometimes. Remy's a very talkative man, and talks to fill the silence. Frank knows what Remy does for a living.)

Wanda... (Pre Wanda-Vision, haven't seen it yet) Luckily for me they haven't been in the same room yet, but I agree with you, I don't think it'd be quiet for too long. But I think they'd probably be willing to grieve together over their losses.

Ok, but there’s definitely something to be said for being able to get so far away from everything that there’s literally tons of rock between you and the outside world and no one can bother you anymore.

Anyway my favourite cave is a tourist cave with a half hour walk to it with permanently installed ropes AND footholds carved into the entrance section and I could probably still find my way to the Laundry Chute and back without any input. ...but not to the Grotto and that part is way nicer, no one actually likes squeezes. Flowstone glows if you charge it up (albeit not for long), and one time when I didn’t feel like going fast, dad left me to sit and I turned off my light and sat in the complete and utter dark for 15 minutes.

caving as an extreme sport is sooo unfathomable to me why are u as a creature of the daylight doing that. were u born without the dread in ur bones or something

So the MC was raised by their mother, Jeyra, and has never known their other parent but you do have your mothers younger brother Julian in your life.

Jeyra -

commander of the Kingsguard, the king’s closest protector, and your mother. A legend in her own right, she first gained recognition decades ago by saving King Caelin’s (then the prince) life from a fae ambush during her early days as a young castleguard. It was a bold display of bravery and unmatched combat skills that solidified her place by his side when she won his own protector tournament. Julian –

your charismatic uncle, a traveling bard whose stories of adventure bring warmth and laughter to the castle. You love to sit with him, listening as he regales you with tales of epic quests and fantastical creatures, igniting a sense of wanderlust within you.

BACKSTORY

Cas, a promising Captain in the Peaton Castleguard, started his life as a shadow to his big brother Tristan. The two were inseparable and bonded over hobbies, jokes, and their shared stresses from their mother's controlling rule. After a particularly vicious argument that even saw their docile father get involved, Tristan ran away during the night with a plan to join the Crusades in Miza. He woke Cas up to tell him and promised to return. Cas spent the next few years of his childhood, paying for Tristan's 'betrayal' by becoming the sole target for his mother's ire, and even watching his love for Tristan become twisted into hatred and a sense of betrayal. His longing turned exploitable when the local outlaws, the Brotherhood of the Bone, targeted him as a potential recruit. They used Tristan and Miza as a way of bonding with the young Cas, bringing him into their criminal family...

PERSONALITY

The fiery, charismatic Captain of the Peaton Castleguard. A rough diamond that tends to follow his gut more than orders, Cas is a constant companion to the downtrodden and black sheep everywhere. Always eager to prove himself and learn what he needs to do and who he needs to appear to be just stand out. He's a determined soul, willing to go as far as he needs to make people look at who he is and not who he was.

BEHAVIOR

The normally friendly Cas becomes a more introspective soul when he's stressed and it's almost like another version of him walking around. Cas is never one to be defeated by any problem but he is also one who takes on too much, to the point of self-sabotage. One to forget meals, push himself past his limits of exhaustion only to fall asleep at his desk, and never one to ask for help.

MOTIVATION

Cas' outer goals go hand-in-hand: in order to get to Miza and find his brother, Cas must work his way up and impress his superiors. He pushes himself to succeed and impress others, feeling he'll never be accepted or feel whole without achieving his ultimate goal of finding Tristan.

A cave in Banff National Park has been recognized as a globally significant location thanks to a tiny creature found inside. The freshwater amphipod crustacean, known as the Castleguard Cave amphipod (Stygobromus canadensis), is transparent and looks like a minuscule shrimp, but it's hugely important.

Castleguard Cave has been recognized as a biodiverse area. Located in the north end of Banff National Park, Castleguard Cave is a limestone cave that features cave systems measuring 21 kilometres in length.

The cave is about 170 kilometres north of the Cave and Basin Historic Site. Castleguard Cave joins two other sites in Alberta recognized by the KBA program: the Frank Lake wetland near High River, Alta. Delta in northeast Alberta.

The KBA program collaborates with governments, local conservation organizations, scientists, and Indigenous Nations to identify and conserve species and ecosystems. Sites are recognized based on their meeting strict criteria.

While KBAs are not designed to provide any legal protection, they are a way of identifying places in unprotected areas where conservation and stewardship efforts can halt and reverse the loss of nature.

More than 70 sites across Canada are listed as KBAs, and more than 850 more are under consideration.

Ooh! I have a question! Who is the main character from the primary novel you're working on, and what are some details/fun facts about them? :D

My main character is Cas! This handsome man here.

As for interesting fun facts, I have just the one for you! Before Cas found his calling in the Castleguard, he was apprentice to the local carpenter. He was even going to marry the carpenter's daughter, Diana Forrest, but then the civil war happened and he accepted the call to join the Castleguard. While that's all very much part of his old life (and another sting in the tail for people who want to call him a failure and a quitter), he still has a gift for whittling and is often carving this or that just to relax. The raven topper on the can that Conoric uses was carved by Cas!

But I do have a hefty slice of chapters from his brother, Conoric's perspective too~

While both of them were initially inspired by Dimitri and Felix from Three Houses, they've developed leaps and bounds since then! Big, big developments came from me figuring out their Enneagrams and watching the TV adaption of The Devil's Novice.
