Tetris trailer starring Taron Egerton released
Tetris trailer starring Taron Egerton has been released and you can watch it right here #Tetris #Trailer #AppleTVPlus #TaronEgerton
Tetris Trailer A movie on Tetris. Last week it was the story of Air Jordan’s getting the hollywood treatment in a movie called… Air. This week it’s Tetris. Yes, Tetris the game that nobody could put down in the 80’s and well, err… ever since really. So today the Tetris trailer has been released for it’s debut in March on Apple TV+ Rather than a fun filled adventure with those troublesome blocks…

I recently got back from Argylle and AHHHHHH I had a huge smile on my face for like 70% of the movie.
It was dumb (affectionate) at some points, but that's what made it fun. I feel like Matthew Vaughn understands that movies shouldn't always be realistic or have to make sense. Just enjoy what's in front of you.
More thoughts under the cut (includes spoilers, duh):
Maybe I'm oblivious, but I didn't foresee many of the twists. Though to be fair, like most things I just watch and see what happens...
The humour was perfect for me. It was the kinda shit that makes you chuckle as you shake your head, but not burst out laughing (although I'm not averse to that type of humour).
Elly is literally me and every fan fic writer. Except we're not secret agents, unfortunately.
Whenever I see Bryan Cranston, I only see the dad from MItM. I never watched Breaking Bad.
No Henry Cavill and John Cena kiss? Missed opportunity. SMH
Ahem I'm super interested in how Vaughn will tie together the three franchises, because we have actors that have played various characters (except some of their characters are dead).
As for the production of the movie, Brad Allen (RIP) being on there was really nice to see.
Now, I've never met the man, but fucking Carlos Peres (AKA Bedivere) in the first part of the credits as executive producer, made me so proud??? If you didn't know (please note I just like to look at the credits), in Kingsman TSS, he was simply a Kingsman Knight. Then Kingsman TGC, a Kingsman Knight and production consultant. The King's Man, a co-producer. Vaughn's friends/colleagues are lucky fuckers.
I didn't stay til the end of the credits (the employees were eyeing me to leave so they could clean), but I think it's really nice they include the number of jobs supported and mention the hard work put into making such a production, at least for Kingsman 2 and The King's Man.
I know critics take things way too seriously and I will never ever listen to them but this quote makes me laugh: "Argylle [...] ultimately wears out its welcome with a convoluted plot and overlong runtime." (Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argylle) Man, if they think that was convoluted, they haven't seen the DrakeNier universe, Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, etc.
Okay, I've rambled enough for now. If you read everything, thank you. (Why would you?)

Protecting 1.2% of Earth would prevent most extinctions – study
Allocating an additional 1.2 per cent of the world’s land to nature reserves would prevent most of the predicted extinctions of plants and animals, according to Reuters.
The world is aiming to reach a goal of protecting 30 per cent of the world’s land area by 2030 to shield wildlife facing extinction due to climate change, pollution, and habitat destruction. World policymakers will meet at a UN summit in Colombia in October to discuss plans to reach the goal.
The study, published in Frontiers in Science on Tuesday, aimed to identify the most valuable areas in the hope that they would be incorporated into the protection plans, according to Carlos Peres, a study co-author and conservation ecology expert at the University of East Anglia in the United Kingdom.
Most countries do not actually have a strategy. The 30-by-30 targets still lack a lot of details because it doesn’t actually say what 30 percent should be protected.
The protection proposed in the study would cover an additional 1.6 million square kilometres (633,000 square miles). That is an area about one-fifth the size of the United States. The study estimates that $263 billion is the amount it would cost to acquire the new areas, many of which include private property, at present value over the next five years.
Time is not on our side because it will become increasingly more expensive and more difficult to set aside additional protected areas.
Land acquisition accounts for most of the costs of establishing protected areas. However, the study did not include the costs of maintaining protected areas.
About three-quarters of these sites are tropical forests, as these are the most biodiverse ecosystems in the world. The Philippines, Brazil, and Indonesia have more than half of the expensive sites. Meanwhile, Russia is the only country with the most valuable land ready for conservation. The study calculated 138,436 square kilometres, which is the size of Greece.
Several African countries also topped the list. Madagascar ranked fourth overall, while the Democratic Republic of Congo had the largest area on the continent earmarked for conservation.
The researchers only looked at terrestrial and freshwater ecosystems, not oceans or marine protected areas. They also did not include invertebrates, as the geographical distribution of insects and other such animals was poorly mapped.

The Magician
After directing some of Hollywood’s greatest silent films and making stars of his wife, Alice Terry, Rudolph Valentino and Ramon Novarro, Rex Ingram (not to be confused with the wonderful actor) relocated to France in search of greater freedom. That concept of freedom was relative. His European films feature images and subjects that would have been untenable at his home studio, MGM, but they still reflect the tastes of the viewing public. His once-lost film THE MAGICIAN (1926, TCM, YouTube) is filled with transgressive imagery and a villain (Paul Wegener) who queers both domesticity and the world of science, but it’s classic Hollywood horror queerness, a destructive force that must be defeated in the name of traditional values.
Terry is a sculptress working on a large statue of a faun, a flirtation with the world outside normal society. When it collapses on her, she’s left paralyzed. Her savior is a handsome doctor (Ivan Petrovich), and the two fall in love. But she also attracts the attention of occultist Oliver Haddo (Wegener), who uses his hypnotic powers to steal her from Petrovich. Ingram’s script, adapted from a W. Somerset Maugham novel loosely based on Aleister Crowley’s public image, tips us off to Wegener’s goal early. To complete an ancient spell for the creation of life, he needs the heart’s blood of a maiden, so his marriage to Terry is in name only. It’s a queer variation on the role of matrimony in creating new life and, as such, an assault on conventional morality.
Ingram directs all this quite seriously, which was rare for a silent film dealing with horror. He allows Wegener, the star and sometime director of several German expressionistic horror films to dominate his scenes, All he has to do is swell his chest and open his eyes as wide as possible to make you believe he can hold Terry in his thrall. Working with John F. Seitz, Ingram also creates striking imagery. There’s a terrific fantasy scene in which Wegener makes Terry visualize a bacchanal with near naked fauns and nymphs, some epic crowd scenes and vistas of Paris and Monte Carlo in the 1920s and striking compositions as Wegener exercises his control over Terry. There’s also some eft comic relief supplied by Gladys Hamer, who plays Terry’s roommate, and a man who loses his hat, played by Michael Powell, who was an assistant director on the film and later credited Ingram’s influence on his own work. Ingram also uses acting styles to reinforce his meanings. Petrovich and Terry are remarkably natural (and pretty darned beautiful) in contrast to Wegener’s more old-school silent-film posturing. THE MAGICIAN was a major influence on Universal’s 1930s horror films. It also features a rare on-screen appearance by Firmin Gemier, a French actor who worked with both Andre Antoine and Aurelien Lugne-Poe and created the role of Pere Ubu.

Kings of Mallorca out of the islands
The Palace of the Kings of Mallorca was built by King Jaume II in Perpinyà in 1276, when he assumed the crown of the new kingdom established ten years earlier by Jaume I the Conqueror.
It was the main centre of power for the territories that the new kingdom brought together: the Balearic Islands, the counties of Roussillon and Cerdanya, the lordship of Montpellier, inherited by Jaume I from his mother, Maria, and other fiefs north of the Pyrenees.
Gardens and several chapels were built in the palace, which is protected by powerful walls and a moat. These were consecrated when the complex was completed around 1309, even while King Jaume II of Mallorca, who suffered the temporary loss of his island territories to his uncle, Alfonso III of Aragon, during his reign.
When the islands were recovered around 1291, following the death of the Aragonese king and an arbitration decision by the papacy, James II continued to build the kingdom both in Mallorca and in Roussillon. He was able to enjoy the completed fortress for only two years, as he died in 1311 and was succeeded by his son Sanç.
Sanç I of Mallorca, who became king when his older brother renounced the crown to become a Franciscan friar, continued his father's work and began to build a naval power based on the insularity of most of his kingdom. He clashed with the institutions of the capital of Mallorca.
He died childless in 1324, and was succeeded by his nephew as Jaume III, who immediately assumed vassalage to his relative, King Pere IV of Aragon, whom he supported in the conquest of Sardinia and in the war with the Republic of Genoa.
The Crown of Aragon wanted to annex the kingdom again. Pere IV seized the islands in 1343 and the trans-Pyrenean counties in 1344. Jaume ceded the rest of the baronies to the King of France in exchange for support to recover his kingdom.
The Mallorcan royal dream ended at the Battle of Llucmajor in 1349, certified by the death of Jaume III in the same year. His son claimed the crown of the short-lived kingdom under the name of Jaume IV, but was unsuccessful and his territories were reincorporated into the Crown of Aragon.
After this, the palace of the kings of Mallorca in Perpinyà lost its importance and was only a royal residence when the Catalan-Aragonese monarchs visited their territories in what is now Northern Catalonia.
The wars between the Aragonese and French crowns throughout the 15th century meant that the palace-fortress centralised the defence of the territory. Between 1538 and 1587, Kings Carlos I and Felipe II of Spain enlarged the enclosure with brick walls.
The Treaty of the Pyrenees (1659), by which Spain ceded the former Catalan counties of Rosselló, Cerdanya, Vallespir and Conflent to France, ushered in the French occupation. During the occupation, the military engineer Sébastien Le Prestre, first Lord and then Marquis of Vauban, reinforced the defensive system of what is still today a partially military enclosure.

KICKS DOWN THE DOOR. TURNABOUT TAILORSHOP AND EVIL STORY EATER????? HELLO????
IM LOOKING SO HARD WOULD YOU LIKE TO TALK ABOUT THEM
Kdjsndlsjrjdj I'm so sorry this took so long to answer I got carried away and went into to much detail and I'm still not done with the more detailed explanation (that will HOPEFULLY be finished within the month)
Turnabout Tailor Shop is, in a nutshell, the DSoE Arcs of Evillious, but put in the world of Ace Attorney, with more punny names and less magic (there’s Fey Family Drama, but i see no reason for any channeling to happen so it will not).
Technically i’ve thought up plans for all the DSoE arcs, but the only one that got fully fleshed out is the Envy Arc (because it’s my favorite) so i’m using that name to refer to the whole AU.
Pere Noel plays a part as the Big Bad Criminal Organization. The Barisols are Feys because they have the drama for it.
Evil Story Eater is well,,,,,,,, ORV characters but more Evil Food Eater Conchita. KDJ is the Banica Conchita role, YJH as Carlos Marlon, HSY as Platonic. YooHanKim is real because i love toxic doomed yuri (Eve and Meta) but because it’s KDJ and HSY i guess it's more toxic doomed yaoi???
ORV has a lot to say about people as stories and it also has literal consumption of stories (and thus, consumption of people). There are also some very obvious parallels that can be drawn between the childhoods of both KDJ and Banica Conchita, and between the Evil Food Eater and the Oldest Dream (as he is portrayed before the Reveal)
So yeah. Toxic doomed ot3. Strange children who are insanely decided to their strange parental figure. Biyoo is Larakiramuraramurajakotasupopopo (I hope I remembered that correctly) and because of yhk purposes I will have to write Bihyung out of the story. I spent way too long thinking about what YJH-Carlos could do with HSY-Platonic’s body after he kills her Joongdok Divorce Style

comment I saw on youtube on evillious chronicles
Crazy aspect about the Evilious Chronicles: Of the 7 Deadly Sin Contractors, 5 of them are directly blood related to Duke Venomania (Counting himself as being related to the Contractor of Lust, himself). Duke Venomania: Is Duke Venomania, who had three children with his Harem. One with Mikulia Greeonio, One with Lukana Octo, and One with Maylis Beelzenia. Banica Conchita: a descendant of the Child of Duke Venomania and Maylis Beelzenia who was adopted out to the Conchita family of Royal retainers. Had a child with Carlos Marlon after a night together which got adopted back into the Beelzenian Royal family. Kayo Sudou: a descendant of the Child of Duke Venomania and Lukana Octo, also married (Husband survived, but lost his memory until after) and had a son (Died in the Enbizaka fire) who also shared the bloodline. She swapped bodies with Ma (Who was, until that point, still in Elluka's body, which was actually Lukana Octo's Body, meaning Kayo wound up with her ancestor's body), so technically not blood related during the murders per-say, but technically still a many times Great-Granddaughter of Venomania. Gallerian Marlon: The Son of Ma (in Kayo's original Body) while she was using the alias of "Elluka Clockworker", So technically the son of Kayo Sudou, and therefore a descendant of Duke Venomania. Nemesis Sudou: The Daughter of Gallerian Marlon and (His unknown mother) Ma under the Alias of "Kayo Sudou" (do I hear banjos?), So Daughter and granddaughter of Kayo Sudou, and therefore a descendant of Duke Venomania. This is not even getting into characters related to the story, in which case Venomania casts his influence across all 7 Deadly Sins, with Gast Venom (a descendant of Duke Venomania and Lukana Octo) serving Princess Rillian and fighting (and dying) against Germaine Avandonia (a descendant of Banica Conchita and therefore a descendant of Duke Venomania and Maylis Beelzenia), and Irena Clockworker having used Germaine's body under the alias "Julia Abelard", the First Santa Claus of Pere Noel, during the Gift of the Princess who Brought Sleep.Show less

Sessão Mutual Films: Os vampiros de Luis Ospina e Pere Portabella [Mutual Films Session: The Vampires of Luis Ospina and Pere Portabella]
November 4th: The link above leads to Portuguese-language information about the 26th edition of the Mutual Films Session, co-curated and organized by me and Mariana Shellard, whose screenings will take place between November 6th and 30th at the São Paulo-based unit of the Instituto Moreira Salles.
The event places into dialogue four films by two important contemporary all-genre artists (documentary, fiction, and experimental) whose works often deal with vampirism as a sociopolitical metaphor. The Colombian film and video-maker Luis Ospina (1949-2019) will be represented with the short mockumentary Agarrando pueblo (aka The Vampires of Poverty) (co-directed by fellow Cali native Carlos Mayolo) and the feature-length horror film Pure Blood, both of which discuss the vampiristic divisions along race and class lines in Colombia in the decades following the country's prolonged civil war known as “La Violencia”. The Catalan filmmaker and producer Pere Portabella will be represented with the feature-length experimental film Vampir-Cuadecuc and the shorter video piece Mudanza, both of which reflect in allegorical fashion on the legacy of Spain’s four-decade-long military dictatorship run by the general Francisco Franco. Each one of the two programs will include films by both directors, with the melancholier and more mysterious Program 1 containing a pairing of Mudanza with Pure Blood, and the more overtly playful Program 2 offering Agarrando pueblo (whose title can be roughly translated as “taking advantage of people”) together with Vampir-Cuadecuc. (In Catalan, the word “cuadecuc” means “worm’s tail”, and it also refers to the end of a reel of film stock.)
The November 7th screening of Program 2 will be followed by a public talkback with two Brazilian scholars who have previously worked with these directors’ cinemas. The university professor and film critic Lúcia Ramos Monteiro was responsible in 2017 for the curatorship of a large retrospective of Ospina’s film and video work that was held in Rio de Janeiro in 2017 and in the presence of the director. The journalist and editor Claudio Leal has met Portabella on several occasions and formally interviewed him for a profile piece published in 2021 in the Folha de S. Paulo (the Brazilian newspaper with perhaps the finest arts coverage). During the preparations process up to now, each specialist on one filmmaker has expressed pleasure with getting to know better the work of the other.
Ospina and Portabella superficially seem to be quite different artists, with the Colombian prone to black humor and myriad pop culture references, and the Spaniard moving between oblique and didactic stylistic modes with frequent gestures towards the world of high art. We have therefore been surprised to find that admirers of one also frequently admire the work of the other. This is possibly due in part to how the artworks made by both filmmakers draw upon ideas of subversion that challenge conventional approaches to storytelling in ways that engage the viewer’s critical thinking. The vampire is thus crucial in the works both of Ospina and of Portabella, both as a figure and as a metaphor – an entity that violates boundaries and comfort zones as a way of giving itself life. This entity (the vampire, the vampiric ruler, the vampiric artwork, the artist) is inevitably all at once dangerous, attractive, and aware of its own power.
The filmmakers detail the ideas behind their works in two supplementary texts that have been translated into Portuguese for our website. One is a monologue by Portabella about the making of Vampir-Cuadecuc, which was originally delivered in Castilian in 2017 and included as a video interview on the Second Run DVD edition of the film. The other is a career-spanning interview with Ospina that was conducted by the Polish-American film critic and programmer Ela Bittencourt during a retrospective that the filmmaker received in 2018 at the festival DocLisboa and subsequently published in English in the magazine Film Comment. Both men speak lucidly and generously about their work in these pieces, as they were known for doing throughout their careers. However, when it comes to truly understanding the potency of their films, something emerges that is also the case with vampirism: No rational explanations suffice.

As minhas leituras do momento:
A Sombra do Vento - Carlos Ruiz Záfon
Tacada Perfeita - Kels Peres
Por hoje é isso.

The Ghost Dogs of the Amazon
Scientists have produced data that shows the range of an enigmatic short-eared canid species that has yet to be widely studied. It is one of the Amazon rain forest’s most elusive and enigmatic mammals. Experts call the species “shy” or even “a ghost.”
It’s a dog or at least a type of dog. The short-eared dog is the only member of the canine genus Atelocynus, and the only such species unique to the Amazon rainforest. In a study published last month in Royal Society Open Science, 50 researchers chipped away at the creature’s mysteries by putting together a large location data set gleaned mostly from camera trap cameos. By mapping the species’s range and determining its preferred habitat, the scientists, many of whom have never encountered the animal in person, hope to help protect it.
Daniel Rocha, a graduate student at the University of California, Davis, and the study’s lead author, became interested in the short-eared dog in 2015, when he began working in the southern part of the Amazon. He and his colleagues set up camera traps to study the local mammal community. As they looked through the footage, “these dogs would appear,” he said. With pricked ears and furrowed brows, they almost look surprised to be caught on camera. It surprised him, too. Even locals who spend a lot of time in the Amazon don’t often see short-eared dogs, which were assumed to be quite rare. They also evade career researchers focused on this region: Mr. Rocha, who spent years leading this study, said, “I’ve never seen the dog in the jungle, ever.”
Carlos Peres, an ecology professor at the University of East Anglia who contributed to the study, has been working in the Amazon for nearly 40 years. His longest sighting of a short-eared dog lasted about 20 seconds as it chased a spiny rat into a hollow log. They’re incredibly secretive,” he said.
Many canid species, from wolves to African wild dogs, hunt in packs and prefer more open habitats, like tundra or grasslands. Short-eared dogs, which only live in the Amazon, are mostly solitary and “almost certainly the most rainforest-adapted of all the canids,” said Dr. Peres. They are most comfortable trotting around in the trees, far from anywhere people might tread.
As a result, the species is “one of the least studied dogs worldwide,” Mr. Rocha said. We don’t know much about their life histories or reproductive strategies, or how many of them exist. We don’t even really know what they eat, although scat studies suggest that they like fish, small mammals and fruit.
Individual experts have gone to great lengths to change that. Renata Leite Pitman, a contributor to the study and an affiliated scholar at Duke University’s Nicholas School of Environment, once obtained a short-eared dog pup that had been raised with domestic dogs. She and her assistant, Emeterio Nuñonca Sencia, trained the dog to walk on a leash and took careful notes on what he sniffed at, ate and avoided. She has also managed to track several dogs with radio collars.

Casa cheia no À4HÁ com MДQUIИД. e Sunflowers | Reportagem Fotográfica
Tomás dos MДQUIИД.
Halison dos MДQUIИД.
