Carl Palmer edita la colección de 3 CDs + Blu-ray, "Fanfare For the Common Man" (5 de abril, BMG) con música e imágenes de su extensa carrera musical: The Crazy World of Arthur Brown, Atomic Rooster, Emerson Lake & Palmer, Asia, Carl Palmer Band, ELP Legacy, etc, etc... Pero antes de todo eso sacó un único single con el grupo The Craig, la fantástica, explosiva, "I Must Be Mad" (Fontana 1966) como cara A. Palmer por entonces sólo tenía 16 años. El single completo viene en la caja triple retrospectiva.

WELCOME BACK MY FRIENDS:
THE RETURN OF EMERSON LAKE & PALMER
ANNOUNCES 2023 SUMMER TOUR
The tour continues the successful run of show which began in November and December 2022. After exploring the idea of a Hologram tour in detail, Palmer (with the Estates of Emerson and Lake) opted for what they felt was a more honest approach using live footage of Keith and Greg on massive video walls alongside Carl (and his band) playing LIVE on stage. The voice and instrumentation of Greg Lake and the unmistakable keyboard mastery of Keith Emerson will be mixed with Palmer’s onstage live drumming to magically reunite ELP once again.
Emerson and Lake passed away nine months apart in 2016, leaving Palmer to carry on the band’s enormous musical legacy.
“The film ELP made of its sold out run at London’s Royal Albert Hall in 1992 had everything we needed to make these tours happen. We were able to use just the camera shots of Keith and Greg, with the sterling audio tracks of their performances resulting in a combination of film and onstage performance of my band that brings back the magic of ELP.”
After establishing themselves in bands such as The Nice, King Crimson, and The Crazy World of Arthur Brown, ELP was formed in early 1970 as one of rock’s first (and biggest) supergroups. With record sales of over 50 million and decades of sold out tours through the 1970s and again in the 1990s, Emerson Lake & Palmer has remained one of the best-selling classic rock bands of all time. The band’s complete recorded catalog, now under the direction and distribution of BMG MUSIC, continues to be a steady force on the international music scene. The tour will coincide with the new BMG box set of classic ELP hit singles pressed on vinyl with reproductions of the original picture sleeves.
The tour is being launched with the full approval of the Emerson and Lake Estates, as well as the various managers who have represented the members of the band. WELCOME BACK MY FRIENDS- THE RETURN OF EMERSON LAKE & PALMER will start in the US during Fall 2022 and eventually play all over the world where ELP toured throughout its career.

Song Review: Carl Palmer’s ELP Legacy with Todd Rundgren - “Lucky Man” (Live, Aug. 26, 2017)
Carl Palmer’s been keeping the music of his late bandmates Keith Emerson and Greg Lake alive on the road with the Yestival this summer, playing instrumental versions of Emerson, Lake & Palmer tunes in the tour’s opening slot.
On Aug. 26, Palmer mixed things up a bit and invited Todd Rundgren - who’s second on the bill - to sing “Lucky Man” with Palmer’s ELP Legacy. Rundgren sounds nothing like Lake, and without the benefit of backing vocalists, he delivers the song in a much lower register and sings the original, wordless harmonies as oh as opposed to ooooooooooh.
But Rundgren’s operatic quaver fits the tune well and the performance (captured on cell phone video at Palmer’s urging) makes one wonder why they didn’t come up with this nifty surprise earlier in the tour, which wraps Tuesday, Aug. 29.

Carl Palmer’s ELP Legacy: Emerson Lake & Palmer Lives On !!!
With the recent passing of both his ELP bandmates, Keith Emerson and Greg Lake, Carl Palmer hits the road with a tribute show in their honor. A drummer’s drummer, Palmer anchored the legendary ELP, as well as Asia, Atomic Rooster and The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown. ELP’s megahits including “Picture’s At An Exhibition,” “Lucky Man,” “From the Beginning” and “Tarkus” helped define Progressive Rock and earned sales of 48 million.  Palmer’s new band captures all the power of these hits in a hard-driving, instrumental performance that’s winning raves globally.
Special Thanks Carl Palmer , Paul Bielatowicz on guitar, and Simon Fitzpatrick ~

Steve Howe’s Son, Little Barrie Drummer Virgil Howe, Dead at 41; Yes Tour Canceled
Yes scratched the remaining six dates on its Yestival tour Monday, following the sudden death of Steve Howe’s son, the band announced online.
“Due to the tragic, unexpected death of guitarist Steve Howe’s beloved younger son, Virgil, Yes regrettably announces that the remaining dates of their Yestival Tour have been cancelled,” the statement said.
Virgil Howe was in rehearsals for a U.K. tour with his band Little Barrie, which was slated to begin Sept. 13. The drummer was 41 when he died of unknown causes and his bandmates mourned him on Twitter.
“I am utterly devastated to lose my friend and a positive force in my life,” Lewis Wharton said.
Barrie Cadogan said the band was “heartbroken” at the death of Howe, whom he called “our dear friend and brother.”
Virgil and Steve Howe were to release their debut, instrumental LP, Nexus, in November, and the elder Howe talked about it with Prog magazine before his son’s death.
“It’s a full-on collaborative album, not a duet,” he said. “It’s been refreshing to work with Virgil, and we’ve pulled this beautiful album together. Although it’s got shades of mellow music, it doesn’t sit still. It moves across electronic music and my guitars. This is an opportunity to discover what Virgil’s been doing on the side of his drumming with Little Barrie.”
Yes have no dates scheduled for the rest of 2017 but are to begin a 50th-anniversary U.K. tour in March 2018.
“Yes — Steve Howe, Alan White, Geoff Downes, Jon Davison and Billy Sherwood — want to thank all their fans for their support and understanding at this time,” the cancellation notice said. “Steve Howe and family ask for their privacy to be respected during this difficult time.”
Refunds are available at the point of purchase. Yestival featured sets by Yes, Todd Rundgren and Carl Palmer’s ELP Legacy; the Sept. 11 show went on as scheduled with a headline-length performance from Rundgren.
