PAINTING OF THE GARRISON CHURCH IN POTSDAM, GERMANY BY CARL HASENPFLUG (1827) Built between 1730 and 1735 by order of Germany’s “Soldier King” Friedrich Wilhelm I, the baroque building was largely destroyed by a British bombing raid in 1945. In 1968 the remains of the church were blown up and demolished by the East German government.
