My Ship Ranking:

Okay so a few warnings about this:

1-I added all the ships I could find. If there is any missing, let me know and I'll add later.

2-This is my opinion and it isn't meant to be offensive to anyone. You can agree or disagree and it's totally fine. If you wanna do your own rankings, I would love to read it.

3-It's a long post that I've been writing for weeks. I made revisions but if something passed through me and you guys notice, you can tell me.

1-Red Crackle:

Is that even a surprise to anyone? Red Crackle is my whole life and owns my entire soul lol. But jokes aside, these two are just so linked and have a foundation not even time and space can separate. Even when they're apart by circunstances, they meet again. They always comeback to one another. Duane Capizzi said in this interview Carmen and Gray "will definitely meet again":

And I haven't seen other interviews yet but in this specific interview the person just says Duane said Carmen doesn't see Gray in a flirty light and brushes it off asking about Carulia. Then Duane just talks more about Julia's character and then says, "if it's there, it's intentional" which indicates, from what I got, that the double meaning is there, you can choose how you see and interpret it. They could have made the carulia interactions more clear and chose not to do so on purpose. So I imagine the same thing applies to Red Crackle, Carmivy, Jeantonio, etc. The show ended so now is up to us to interpretate with what we have. Even if Duane, and the whole crew of the show overall, ship something, we can ship something different. As the show is not romance focused, we can choose from what we have. And no way there's no people who ship Red Crackle among the show staff. Michael Goldsmith(Gray's voice actor) seemed to ship. This guy seems to as well(not sure tho) considering the way he directed the holy trinity of Red Crackle episodes:

Gray's character is fundamental for Carmen to be the person she is. Can you picture Carmen jumping from the plane with El Topo, Le Chevre or Tigress? She trusted only Gray enough to do that. Without him she wouldn't have jumped, and would not realize what V.I.L.E. truly is about. And if so, a lot later, maybe too late. And at the end, they could have chosen Devineaux, Zari, Julia, or even Ivy to save Carmen with the A.C.M.E. machine. I think it would be kinda nice if it were Ivy so she would have an interaction with evil Carmen, like Zack had at the ferris wheel, and would impress A.C.M.E. instead of just randomly joining it with Zack out of nowhere at the end. But I'm glad it was Gray and then Shadowsan finished the job. The thing that gets to me is that she looks to the crackle rod on the floor and screams:"Gray!". The person she always prioritized the safety of the most was "dead", by her. Then she asks what has she done and I think here she could have also shown some concern for Devineaux and Julia. Specially Julia. Because Devineaux was there, standing, and depending on the impact of the thing that fell on her head, she could have died. And she seemed to faint under a curtain that also could kill her by asphyxiation if she didn't wake up on time. But the only thing she cared about was Gray. She could have remembered on screen she hurt other people too by seeing the crackle rod, but she only remembered Gray and I was like:"But what about Julia? Aren't you worried about her? Carmen is not gonna care about her at all? Really?" "That's it? That's the ending?" I believe that if there was no red crackle shipper there, the show would be a lot different. Gray's character wouldn't be so important as it was if that was the case. Speaking of which, I want a red crackle week because I never participated in one and I want to write an AU about what would have happened if Gray decided do join Team Red on the train to Paris and on the Himalayans and red crackle week is the perfect excuse for that. Also one if Carmen decided to go back to V.I.L.E. on the train to Paris to destroy them from the inside. If we have a Red Crackle Week it could be in December with a Christmas-themed vibe, @redcrackle-week ? Christmas is my favorite holiday and Red Crackle is one of my favorite ships, perfect combination.

2-Carmivy:

Again, no surprises. I've got nothing to say about this two that I haven't said before. They are so in love and they have my heart. I'll never understand why they are so underrated, they deserve more appreciation.

3-Jeantonio:

It's almost a crime that they aren't first place, but they were so close. They are like, the only ship the whole entire fandom agrees it's canon and I got mad respect for them for being able to unite the shipers because everyone likes them and wants to protect them(specially El Topo). They were clearly dating and were romantic boyfriends and I would do pretty much almost anything for them.

4-Cleobellum:

The same thing with Jeantonio, they are just a little bit lower because they don't have the general consent and less moments but to me they are a married couple.

5-Chasari/Zarineaux:

I think they would be the greatest girlboss and malewife ever. Devineaux is a dumbass but he would be Zari's dumbass. The little they interacted I could tell they would be an amazing couple. I just can see it. I can picture all their interactions perfectly in my head. When Zari fell into his arms, and the way Devineaux held her. Zari telling Devineaux not to be in her way and slowly getting softer to him with time, like, they would be such a good storyline. I wanted them together so badly so they deserve this place at my top 5.

6-Chasulia:

These two are a little bit lower because I'm not sure about them. At the start, they are a definite no. But after the fourth season Devineaux was prasing Julia the way she deserves to be praised and treating her better, redeeming for his past actions towards her and actually listening to her. He admited that he was wrong with Julia and did better. They are such adorable dorks together and while I love them as a platonic ship, I feel like they could also work romantically. It would be an interesting plot. I feel like most people think romance and friendship can't coexist but it can and it should. These two combined are one of the factors that make a good and healthy relationship and I feel like Devineaux and Julia have potential to be that way. I would like to know more about their Interpol days like why they were partnered together and how did they got to Carmen Sandiego, etc. So because of their wholesome platonic relationship that may or may not be affected my romance, they are a little bit lower but they are amazing and I love them.

7-CarChase:

This one, I did not expect to be this high up. First, the ship name is just as funny as "Red Crackle". Carmen and Devineaux did have quite a few number of car chases. Second, I'm aware that they have a 12 years age gap but I have a pretty high tolerance for age gaps. While I would rather not have an age gap too big for romantic relationships, 17 years age gap or less I don't mind. It bothers me a little, but it's not that big of a deal. If it's 18 years or more, it bothers me because I go like:"They could be their dad/mom." I just think they would be so funny together. The idea of them is surprisingly good. It makes me laugh when I think of Coach Brunt calling him handsome and Carmen being so done and after maybe going like:"He ain't ugly"(Carmen Sandiego is that kind of show that the animation is so pretty nothing and no one is ugly). And Carmen not wanting to see Devineaux because it's "really not a good time" and then seeying him even more to the point she doesn't mind it and even starts appreciating it. They would be a hell of enemies to friends to lovers story. They interact more than Carulia, but not as much as Chasulia so seventh place sounds about right for them. Not my favorite but I approve.

8-SpinTrap/FlyKick:

I don't know what their official ship name is but they are assigned partners and that, by V.I.L.E. standards, for me, usually means they make out. I wanted more development for both of their characters, which we don't know much about, so eighth place sounds nice. They clearly work well together and have a great harmony so I would say they are a cheaper version of Red Crackle. Like: "Kid:Mom, I want Red Crackle. Mom:We have Red Crackle at home." And they are the Red Crackle at home in question. Still, it works. Of course they are nothing compared to Red Crackle, but they still work. In the, idk three times we saw Spin Kick and Flytrap, you can tell they have the chemestry to convince people they are a romantic couple so this place is well deserved for them.

9-Dokusan:

No, you haven't read wrong, it means Shadowsan and Lady Dokuso. Just hear me out:I can picture it perfectly:They meet at V.I.L.E. academy, they fall in love, they start dating. But then, Shadowsan is promoted to a member of the faculty, a position Lady Dokuso also wanted, but she was happy for her boyfriend anyway. Then, it ends up not working out a faculty member dating a mere operative and then they break up but still love each other, but their relationship was full of ups and downs and they are both bitter and salty about it. Then, Shadowsan backfires V.I.L.E. and joins Team Red and Lady Dokuso can finally have a chance as a faculty member but at the cost of destroying Shadowsan. The drama, the angst, the complexity of loving each other but being different and being in two sides that can't collide or meet in the middle. If you stop to think about it, they are basically a toxic version of Red Crackle that went wrong(Yes, I use Red Crackle as a parameter to measure other couples because they are the standard). So why are they so high up? Because a sad ending love story can also work. Representativity matters and tragic love stories deserve to have some spotlight sometimes.

10-PaperTiger:

It wouldn't be me if these two didn't make it to the top 10. I know Paper Star is a psycho so she can't actually feel love or empathy for anyone other then herself, but hooking up without commitment works for these two. It would also hold some drama like:Paper Star and Tigress start being passive aggressive to each other, then they start being assigned to even more and more missions together and get to know each other better, Tigress falls in love for Paper Star and Paper Star starts caring for her a little bit more than the others and they start confiding in each other and telling things about themselves they wouldn't tell anyone else, and they try a secret relationship because Tigress accepted Paper Star's condition, but they end up not working out because of the V.I.L.E. work and the missions that they put in first place other than the relationship because they aren't El Topo and Le Chevre, unlike them, Tigress and Paper Star have other priorities and other things to worry about than each other. As you can see, I really love some angst, and they had the chemestry for that. Their versatility could also hold some fluff and funny moments like:Tigress judging Jeantonio for cuddling then doing the exact same thing with Paper Star, Tigress saying Paper Star isn't that bad to them(she is bad to everyone else tho, she would only be "soft", in her strange way, for Tigress), them trying each other's clothes and weapons, them teaching each other stuff, going out on dates, they would be V.I.L.E.'s IT couple like evil Carmen and Crackle were people, there's no way around it.

Headcanons: Carmen's Wedding

- Okay but Carmen's found family helping her with planning her wedding - Player books the hotel and makes all the travel arrangements. He also makes arrangements so he can be there in person. - Zack and Ivy being so excited for her. Ivy can't believe it at first and squee's! Zack making some lame jokes/puns about who she's chosen. - Her fiancee being just as excited as she is, if not more. Them helping her with everything she needs to make this wedding perfect. - They decide on an adventure/mystery theme. - Carmen getting the jitters, and her friends assuring her that she'll be alright. That this is going to be the best day of her life! - Shadow san being there as her father to lead her down the aisle. - Carmen relaxing as she sees her new spouse's smiling face. - When it's time for cake, a large vanilla cake is served with chocolate ice cream. - And then there is dancing. Carmen never cared much for slow dancing, so in the middle of the slow dance, the band changes the number. Suddenly there is salsa dancing; the kind of dance Carmen is passionate about. Her spouse planned that part for her, knowing how much she'd love it. - All the other people Carmen befriended on her adventures are invited too. - Grey being protective of Carmen, and when the audience is asked if anyone objects, he gives everyone a warning glare with an electric rod ready. - Julia telling Carmen she looks beautiful in her dress, and doing her makeup before the wedding. - Devineaux trying not to cry tears of joy (and failing). He wears a suit designed for him by ACME. - The dress being designed by the person who made the Carmen brand fashion; making it flattering and shapely. - And the getaway car being designed by ACME; making it cool and classy. - Carmen hugging everyone at the reception before she and her spouse run off together. - After that, it's anyone's guess where in the world Carmen Sandiego is. ;) (Hint: it's a small, isolated location that Player helped her find.)

From the iconic Castle of Cagliostro, world renown thief Arsene Lupin III and his sharpshooting partner Daisuke Jigen are at it again. This looking to score big time on the trail of an expert international counterfeit ring. After entering the country of Cagliostro, they happen to witness are car chase and decide to act in favour of the unknown damsel in distress. Enjoy!

(FYI: I only realized after drawing this that I may have made Jigen a little bigger than Lupin but couldn’t really do anything but go with it. Still, enjoy!!)

if you stop and read the comments on this post you realize this one batmoblie short of ending of as a silly chase seen. Like Joker has instated a car case with Batman cuz idk he has a bomb in his car or something. So Bruce call in the other to come case Joker. And just one after an other the batmobiles just keep popping up.  to try and stop the madman. Bruce is probably in the current one. (calls for assistant with the Joker thinking his kids will show up with bikes etc. for the nooks and crannies) Oracle has told them detail about what’s up as she has camera on the thing due to the news helicopters. following the chase. Tim show up  in the “new batmoblie“ still in experimental phase as he was working on testing it. (Bruce did not know about it though, cuz tim had yet to tell him).

Jason shows up in the one that is made parts of the others ones cuz why not? (Ship of Theseus, anyone. And Replacement showed up in one so why not mess with the old man and the Joker) no to mention his bike was busted at the moment. and to fill in the missing one to make this whole thing. Dick and Dami who was working on a case in the cave, is riding a superposed retired clunker of a batmoblie. Dick won’t let Dami drive it. but they had to take a car as the Damien insisted they had to.

One of those hot nights on the Panamanian coast completed the midnight quarter with an incomparable stillness, with the morning bustle silenced, the waters of Balboa moved lulling the nearby undergrowth. Ships usually transit this international crossing in the early morning hours, making it safer for navigation.

Latin American cities sometimes die at night, the noise is saved for the big avenues and tourist areas.

Places of leisure such as plazas are usually deserted at this hour, parking complexes even more so.

Sometimes…

On the penultimate floor of the parking lot adjacent to a cluster of local markets the rhythmic sound of heels clicking on concrete became increasingly present, followed by a similar clacking but with a slightly heavier cadence.

The woman's glacier blue gaze slowly left the darkness of her wide-brimmed hat as she hurriedly advanced to a service light.

Maybe it was the humidity in the air of this city in the middle of the Caribbean, maybe the light blinded her, maybe it was the sound of her ex-partner stumbling…. But she got distracted.

In a second Carmen was thrown into the nearest wall, before she could even regain her composure Chase's strong arms wrapped around her. The master thief was between a conveniently long wall and the detective's muscular body. She couldn't help but roll her eyes sarcastically as she regulated her own breathing, Could there be a more perfect view?

"It's over Sandiego…" Chase caught his breath slower than he expected to, he'd been running after her for at least an hour, uphill. Oddly enough his combat boots didn't stand out in functionality compared to hers, long heeled boots, taller and thinner, Carmen Sandiego was definitely not a short woman but dear, those heels make her look almost her height, but after all he was a 6.2 foot man… a 6.2 foot man with a beautiful woman breathing against his chin. It's not like he was uncomfortable with this position but he had a work contract to fulfill.

He just needed to find the handcuffs…. Oh… Shit.

When he stumbled it could have been that the handcuffs had slipped from the pocket of his curiously empty leather jacket. He wasn't going to turn his head to test that theory, that would be exposing himself too much.

He wasn't going to let her steal his moment of victory either.

This was a victory, he was going to complete this mission even if he had to drag her to the police station. "And take that ridiculous smile off your face already"

"Now joy is a crime detective?"

"I wouldn't know when it comes to you Carmen"

"It's an involuntary response Chase, I can't help it"

"It's irritating. I don't see the point, I'm about to arrest you and there's nothing you can do about it" Carmen could tease him just by blinking if she put her mind to it, he knew her well and she wouldn't waste the slight migraine growing alongside her satisfied grimace.

"It's all that negativity here" Carmen's hand lifted and her delicate gloved fingers touched his forehead playfully, "I told you pessimism is not your style, you're more stoic than nihilistic"

"One moment of silence Carmen, just one" He pleaded, not wanting to claim the ease with which she read and interpreted him. He spread his hands apart to accommodate himself, comfortable to hold her against the wall, lousy at reaching for the handcuffs on the other side of the parking lot.

Devineaux's tired eyes were drawn to a glint between the fabric of her coat, a ruby necklace, too luxurious to not be stolen, peeked out from her covered cleavage, somehow justification enough to not admit she caught him staring at her breast and distracting enough for him to not notice the small object in the thief's hands.

When he raised his hand to touch her Carmen grabbed it and elbowed her free from his grip, only to feel the detective's hands cling to her waist and be thrown back against the wall, slightly harder than the last time. Partially immobilized, Carmen realized that her hat was a few feet away from her, along with the tear gas and smoke bombs.

Damn it.

When she turned her eyes back to Chase she noticed his face dangerously close, his hazel eyes staring at her, still unable to decide if he was fed up or willing to play, hopefully he hadn't realized he had just disarmed her.

The detective's lip was bleeding a little from the blow but the force with which he held her did not diminish, this time taking the precaution of sticking his body a little closer to hers to prevent her from trying anything again.

"That was a stupid move detective"

Chase rolled his eyes and decided to stroke her ego.

"What do you think is further away from us, my handcuffs or your pretentious little toys? We are both unarmed Carmen and at least I have the willingness to make another… stupid move"

The comment had the desired effect, and Carmen turned her face slightly, but still smiling.

It was usual for Carmen to be childish suddenly, she liked competition and from the days they shared a dorm at ACME he knew she was a bad loser.

With a hard hit with her knee she managed to make the man squirm, but no matter how hard she struggled he wouldn't let her go. It went on and on until the woman gave up resisting the forces of fate. Perhaps she required a new strategy. Lennon used to say yes to love and no to war, he must have been right.

The red on the man's lower lip was bright, quite similar to the crimson hue of hers, as if she had kissed him savagely. "You're only going to hurt yourself Carmen, stop fighting, it takes more than your smug little phrases and bare legs to make me-"

Carmen decided to use what she had to her advantage, her physical attractiveness and a handsome man who was trying hard to hide that he wanted her. Without letting him think and wrapping her arms around the back of his neck, she pulled him into a sudden, impetuous kiss.

The detective held his breath for a second, then let himself go. Carmen caught him, holding him against her until he was dizzy.

She could taste the metallic tang of his blood on her tongue and licked it from his lips as she watched Chase, stunned and pleasantly surprised.

"And you haven't even taken my coat off yet"

With a mischievous grin softening his rough features, Chase wiped the reddish stain on his lips with the back of his hand and stared at her.

"… Is that all you've got, Carmen?"

The master thief copied his challenging expression and went straight into his arms, his soft lips opened to let her manipulate him.

Devineaux spun her around to hold her against the cold concrete wall again as his hands began to move over her.

Carmen lifted one leg over the detective's hip, Chase took his time running his fingers over the skin under the long opening of the coat, his hand moved up, to her arm, to her face, stopping at her lips as they broke another violent kiss.

"I'd appreciate it if you'd stay that way" He pressed her, in response the woman arched against him and rested her wrists against his shoulders, they were still quite close.

"Pourquoi?" she licked her lips as she let out the last syllable.

"Because it's easier for me to keep an eye on you"

Chase was trying to sound aloof but wow, if he was going to get fired for having a quick adventure with a pretty criminal he'd make it worth it.

He buried his head in her luxuriant hair, kissing the perfumed skin of her neck and causing the woman in his arms to cling to his leather covered shoulders with no eagerness to suppress the spasms coursing through her.

"You enjoy it don't you dear?" The teasing tone in Carmen's eager voice only turned him on.

"It's certainly disgusting." He lied for the sake of teasing her.

"Then why do you keep doing it?" the woman squirmed as the detective's lips found their way to her mouth.

"To keep you quiet" Letting her release a sensual giggle he returned to silence her, kissing her again and again. His hands passed freely under the ruby necklace that had gotten him into this, truthfully he wouldn't mind investigating a little more if it was stolen as long as he could repeat this experience a few more times.

A Date With Devineaux Part 4

Friend's Reaction

Summary: Player, Zack, and Ivy were all wondering what Carmen was up to in the last two days. All she said was that she had a date. Will they approve of her strange taste in partner?

...

"Come on Carmen. I'm your best friend," Player insisted. "Of course I won't judge you... So, how did your date go? What's his name?"

Carmen thought for a minute. It was true that they were friends, and they could trust each other with anything. But even Player might freak out when he found out the truth.

"You know how I love danger, right...?" She said, trying to soften the blow.

"Geez, Carmen, really? You're dating a bad boy criminal?!"

She chuckled. "Not exactly."

Zack and Ivy sat on the couch, also curious.

"Come on sweet pea," Ivy said. "We're here for you. We promise not to laugh or judge."

Carmen averted her gaze. Well, what could she do? If she didn't tell, they'd probably keep on prodding.

Sticking up her hands in a stop motion, she conceded.

"Alright! I'll tell you. Uh, thing is, I did something a little dangerous to get this date. I had Tigress set me up..."

"Oh..." The others looked at her sympathetically.

"She got me a disguise. So, you know, he wouldn't recognize me..."

"Uh?" The others looked confused.

"Yeah... Because my date? He's Chase Devineaux." She said quickly.

"Wait," said Zack slowly. "You trusted Tigress?!"

Carmen looked away in shame.

"Not my brightest idea, I know..."

Player shook his head.

"Wait a second, Devineaux? As in, the detective who's been pursuing you this whole time...?"

She closed her eyes and curled up. Yeah, she knew this would be difficult.

"Is it so wrong to be wanted by someone?"

"Yeah, if they want to arrest you," Ivy said quickly.

Carmen pouted.

"You said you'd understand."

Zach patted her back. Perhaps he was too hasty in judging. Maybe Carmen had a good reason for this?

"We do, Carmen. We're just worried..."

"Yeah, Carmen," Ivy said. "If your date didn't work out, you'd be in prison..."

"Heh. About that..."

Carmen explained the whole story, going over the romance, betrayal from Tigress, the heartbreak of being cuffed and led out of the building, how Chase tried to cheer her up a little over being caught, and then her confession.

"Woah dude! That's messed up." Player said.

"Man, that Tigress is such a backstabber!" Ivy said, stomping her feet. It was expected but it still made her blood boil.

"Yeah, she almost ruined everything!" Zach said. "So, what happened next?"

Sighing a little with relief, she recounted how Chase had realized his own feelings and let her go. Then a silly smile came onto her face. She felt like a Disney Princess.

Ivy was the first to speak up.

"Aww, Carmen's in love!"

...

Meanwhile, back at HQ, Chase paced back and forth. He spoke French quickly. Julia couldn't understand him.

"Um, inspector? Is everything alright?"

He glared at her.

"No, things are not alright. What would you think of me? What would ACME think of me?" He finally decided to sit down in his chair and have a mint. "I'm a terrible detective..."

Julia shook her head.

"You're not."

He scoffed.

"Alright, then tell me. Is arresting Carmen and then letting her go a sign of a good detective? I failed us."

"You didn't!" Julia perked up, realizing he may finally be realizing the truth. "Carmen is a good person!! I kept telling you she meant no one any harm..."

He went quiet and had more mints. Looking over his papers without reading them, he frowned. Julia studied him, wondering how she could help. Finally he was starting to see some sense. Now don't ruin it... Perhaps some reverse psychology was in order? Julia cleared her throat.

"But... If you're bummed about that, maybe we could try and track her down?"

Looking up, he nodded.

"Yes. Let us do that."

His voice was soft, not full of frustrated obsession like before. Julia tipped her head, wondering if she was noticing something romantic in Chase's tone.

It was kind of silly, she knew, but Carmen decided to return to the restaurant. Watching it from far away, her heart ached. Would he be there? Would he really want to see her again? It wass amazing how good he was at finding her.

Yet she saw how many of the people around the restaurant were the same ones as that fateful night. Would they remember what happened?

Carmen shook her head. Don't think about that. Just wear another disguise and go inside!

Player had tracked down an expert wig maker and ensured that all products were of the finest quality. The goal this time was not to trick Chase, but the people around them. She remembered the gardens and walked over to them first. There were many beautiful flowers both on the ground and in the bushes. There were also hanging vines. A restaurant like this looked so simple yet with the small space afforded to them, could make for the finest memories.

This time, Carmen's wig was black, and looked like her updo hairstyle. She didn't bother with contact lenses this time. Her makeup was done by an expert, and she wore a form-hugging sparkly blue dress with heels to match.

From behind her, a handsome man wearing a tuxedo approached her.

"The garden is quite beautiful, isn't it?" he said, making conversation.

Carmen smiled, reaching out a hand. "Care to dance, Inspector?"

He shook his head.

"You are kind my dear, but my heart beats only for one woman... Her name is Carmen."

She laughed.

"Chase! It's me, Carmen!"

He chuckled as well.

"I knew it was you. You look very beautiful, even with that obvious disguise."

There he was, taking her breath away yet again.

She slipped an arm around him.

"I love you, Inspector..."

The funny thing is that Carmen and Chase have never actually been enemies. All this time, Chase could have been with her, but instead he chased a delusional image concocted in he own mind.

TRUE but i do think that was he not a stupid delusional, she wouldn't find him half as interesting and funny to mess with

It's like ennemies but only for him, to her he's just a cute funny idiot who's obsessed with her
