OK, all these are very good and real points and the standardization of the world into universally enjoyed aesthetic colors (aka gray scale) does suck BUT if there's one thing I know it's car paint. Why? Because my first job was at a paint shop.

Those old cars with those bright colors? Seaside blue? Cherry red? They look great but those colors were unstable, as in they get lighter when exposed to direct sunlight. But that's not all, because over time the paint would start to physically peal off, and then the metal underneath will rust out.

BUT that's not all again, because when the paint is still liquid, the fumes it let off caused lung damage! and trust me when I say that the paint fumes get everywhere.

Nowadays it's different. Of course the main problem of workers getting lung damage was fixed in all colors of paint, but why is black still the number one paint color? Followed only by white.

Answer number one. Carbon had a black color and is chemically stable, meaning that the sun's radiation doesn't break it down. It's also extremely cheep to produce unlike other shiny colors that require mica. White's the same case, where titanium dioxide (The state titanium is mined in) has a white color and is also cheep to get as mines are already built to gather the metal.

Answer number two. Money. Production is always more efficient when everything is geared to make only one specific thing. If black is already a common color, then they are going to dedicate more resources into making it. More resources equals cheaper and cheaper means that more companies will go for it. It's a self feeding cycle.

Color has been disappearing from the world.

A new research group used machine learning to track color changes in common materials and items, below is their findings for all color changes over time, they used 7000+ items from the 1800s to now to determine color changes in the most common items.

Below are the colors of cars by year, notice how the majority of cars are grey, white, or black compared to twenty years ago.

These aren't data points, but they are comparisons between the 'modern' homes of the 70s and 80s compared to the modern homes of today.

Carpets have equally had the same treatment of grey added to them! The most common color of carpet is now grey or beige.

Even locations that used to scream with color for decades have now modernized to becoming boring minimalist (and I love minimalism) personality-less locations.
