hi just wanted to share! we thought that Daniel had a problem with his radio, but he was just fully locked in
https://x.com/F1Help/status/1814679865678794834?t=OKm5R1egKWfSHZGcKF_ajw&s=19
Before I start, I need you to know that the level of pettiness I'm about to stoop to is not directed at you, Anon, but at F1TV who robbed me of Pierre praising Daniel for that insane lap at the end of Q1 (I will literally never forgive them). Anyway, I love you for giving me this opportunity to be so extra.
I'm putting the rest of this under a cut because I'm including a screenshot and video analysis...because I'm insane.
To orient us, here is a screenshot of Daniel's steering wheel from an interview he did at the Canadian GP with TSN. The red button within the yellow box is his radio button. When he presses that, a light comes on to indicate that he is being received (very much in the same way your run of the mill walkie talkie works...just vastly more expensive).
Now, here is a video from qualifying. The first 26 seconds is radio after Daniel's first few laps in Q1 where we were hearing transmissions from both Daniel and Pierre. These include the typical instructions and position updates from Pierre. When Daniel "isn't using his radio much" we usually hear an "understood" from him in response. Here, he gives that but also answers a few of Pierre's questions regarding the issues with the car in those first couple push laps. I've (poorly) added some arrows to point out when Daniel pushes his radio button to talk. One thing to note here is that there is a massive delay. This is pretty typical although today it was especially bad.
You can see Daniel pushing the radio button a little more clearly when he's in the garage at (1:55). But we can't hear the conversation because the car is plugged in and not broadcasting the radio to everyone.
Directly following his last push lap in Q1, you can see Daniel push his radio button a couple of time (1:39 and 1:23 he pushes it on to start talking) but even accounting for the delays we experienced earlier, you don't hear him talk. Daniel pushes the radio button again (1:02) as he's being wheeled into the garage after Q1 but again, we hear nothing.
This continues through Q2 and Q3 but the best showcase of his radio not working is the red flag for Yuki's crash. You'd expect to hear some back and forth between Daniel and Pierre and you can see Daniel push his radio button multiple times but we hear none of it.
In closing, F1TV are lying liars who lie.
#ask#dr3#hungarian gp 2024#Again anon please don't think i'm being a petty asshole to you#this is purely directed at f1tv you just gave me the opportunity and I couldn't resist#love to you thank you for also trying to keep me informed!#Also i don't claim to be an expert of F1 car radio systems this is just based on observation so if i'm wrong you can tell me nicely#This video doesn't include all of the times he pushed the radio button just a few cherry picked moment to show that he was using his radio

"What if we call it Akina?"
My parents bought a robotic vacuum cleaner. They're getting on in age, so it's a good addition to the household. It and I met last week, so I asked what its name was. Turned out they'd just named it after our family name. Boring. "It needs a name," I said.
Today my dad says unprompted, "I think we need to give it a different name. Our last name is a bit stupid." My mum says it's fine, but I agree. I'm drawing a blank, though, until my dad suggests the perfect name.
"What if we call it Akina?"
I like to think he's been pondering on this for two weeks.
In the early 2000s, my parents bought a GPS system for the car. I dubbed her 'Akina'. She was named for an AI system in a space ship in the Yoko Tsuno comic album series that I'm still obsessed with twenty years later.
It stuck. When my parents were going anywhere new, we'd say, "Don't forget Akina." "Akina will guide you." "Where is Akina?" I was sad when new cars with built-in GPS systems replaced the old ones. I always kind of felt like she was my baby.
I've missed Akina. I'm glad she's back.

So you have used your preferred small GPS tracking device and ensured the route to your destination will have several places to rest for the night. But you didn’t consider the fact that your car will have a frosted body and windows the next morning, did you? When this happens, make sure you clear all the snow and frost off your car before hitting the road. To do that, drench the car with lukewarm water. The Evolution and Implications of Tracking Devices
In an increasingly interconnected world, tracking devices have become an integral part of our daily lives. These small, often inconspicuous gadgets allow us to monitor the location of objects, animals, and even people with remarkable precision.
From GPS-enabled smartphones to sophisticated wildlife trackers, the technology behind these devices has evolved rapidly, offering numerous benefits while also raising important ethical and privacy concerns.
Technological Advancements in Tracking Devices
The most common type of tracking device relies on Global Positioning System (GPS) technology, which uses a network of satellites to pinpoint the location of a device anywhere on the planet.
Modern GPS trackers are incredibly accurate, often within a few meters, and can provide real-time updates. This has revolutionized various industries, including logistics, where companies can monitor the movement of goods, ensuring timely deliveries and reducing theft.
In addition to GPS, other forms of tracking technology have emerged. Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags, for example, are used in retail to track inventory. These tags are small, inexpensive, and can be attached to virtually any product, making it easier for businesses to manage stock levels and reduce loss.
Meanwhile, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) beacons are becoming popular in indoor environments, such as shopping malls and airports, where GPS signals may not be reliable. These beacons can guide users to specific locations or provide location-based services, such as personalized advertisements.
Applications of Tracking Devices
Tracking devices have a wide range of applications across different fields. In personal use, they help individuals locate lost items like keys, wallets, or even pets. Devices like Tile or Apple AirTag are popular for these purposes, offering peace of mind for those prone to misplacing their belongings.
In the medical field, tracking devices are used to monitor patients with dementia or other cognitive impairments. Wearable devices can alert caregivers if a patient wanders outside a designated area, potentially preventing dangerous situations. Similarly, parents use child tracking devices to ensure the safety of their young ones, receiving notifications if they stray too far from a predefined boundary.
Wildlife conservationists employ tracking devices to study animal behavior and migration patterns. GPS collars on large mammals, such as elephants and wolves, provide invaluable data that helps in the preservation of endangered species. These devices can track an animal’s movement over vast distances, offering insights into their habits and how they interact with their environment.
Ethical and Privacy Concerns
Despite the many benefits, tracking devices also raise significant ethical and privacy issues. The ability to monitor someone’s location can be a double-edged sword. On one hand, it enhances security and provides safety measures; on the other, it can be used for surveillance and control, potentially infringing on individual rights.
Concerns about data security are paramount, especially with the rise of devices connected to the Internet of Things (IoT). Hackers could potentially access tracking data, leading to privacy breaches or even physical threats. There are also fears about how corporations and governments might use this data, with potential implications for surveillance and personal freedom.
Moreover, the use of tracking devices in the workplace has sparked debates about employee privacy. While companies argue that tracking can improve efficiency and safety, employees may feel that constant monitoring violates their privacy and creates an atmosphere of distrust.
The Future of Tracking Devices
As technology continues to advance, tracking devices will likely become even more pervasive and sophisticated. Future developments might include more accurate indoor tracking, longer battery life, and smaller, more discreet devices.
However, with these advancements, it will be crucial to address the associated privacy concerns and establish clear ethical guidelines.
In conclusion, tracking devices are powerful tools that offer numerous advantages across various sectors, from logistics to personal safety and wildlife conservation. However, as they become more integrated into our lives, it is essential to balance the benefits with the need for privacy and ethical use.
As we move forward, society must grapple with these challenges to ensure that tracking devices are used responsibly and for the greater good.
