The 30th anniversary promo of PMC runs from May 31st to December 31st, 2024, as approved by the Department of Trade and Industry - Fair Trade Enforcement Bureau (DTI-FTEB).
Recently, Apple launched the iPhone 16 phone model series in America, a week ahead of mall opening here in our city at Marina Town on Friday (September 20th), which are yet to reach the world markets for PMC. Meanwhile, they are now selling iPhone 15s launched last year in late mid-September 2023, and other Apple-related products at the time of our writing.
Today, our news team of OneNETnews learned exclusively that the 'Power Mac Center' has been consistently bringing American tech giant 'Apple' closer to Filipinos anywhere in the country, including right here in Negros Oriental alone, without needing it to buy originally from the source in the Californian state.
PMC Marina Town opens daily from Mondays thru Sundays - 10am to 9pm, while other stores in Negros Island Region (NIR) include 'The Loop' branches at Ayala Malls Capitol Central in South Capital Road, Bacolod City, Negros Occidental; and Robinson's Place in Brgy. Calindagan, this said city and province.
'Power Mac Center' has become a trusted name in the country, known for delivering the complete Apple experience to its customers. It is the best bet to shop responsibly when you own one.
A big special thanks to Power Mac Center in Dumaguete City for witnessing history first in internet TV broadcasting for making this local tech store opening event possible.

Christmas is just two months around the corner and we can’t wait a bit longer.
The yuletide season is one of the particular times of the year when everyone is looking forward to celebrating with the entire family or even friends.
One of the best parts of celebrating Christmas in the Philippines is reliving and experiencing the spirit of Filipino Christmas. And one of the best places to experience this is at the Lakeshore Mexico Pampanga.
The terrific way to describe the festive season is probably unforgettable, as most people would often recount what gone through during the period of Christmas. However, you don’t need to wait for December just to experience the spirit of Christmas.
The advantage of having the longest Christmas celebration in the entire world as September begins was that we get to experience the atmosphere of Christmas earlier than most people on the other side of the world.
Especially in Pampanga, dubbed as the “Christmas Capital of the Philippines,” expect that there will be a lot of events and attractions regarding Christmas. The dark road that was usually been overlooked by fast-driven cars is being lightened by some Christmas decorations in the area.
If you like to feel the festive season of Christmas as early as October, you might want to consider visiting the Lakeshore Mexico Pampanga with your family and loved ones. It’s also one of the best places here in Pampanga where you can have a family gathering.

The Kapampangan history will consist of the Luzon Empire, also known as the ‘Kingdom of Tondo’. There is a popular belief that the native Kapampangan are direct descendants from Central Java or from the Malang Region. According to historians, the Java or Malayan that used to settle along the banks of the Rio Grande de Pampanga, currently recognized as the Pampanga River, before the Spaniards came. The natives refused to submit to the authority of the colonizers, while Martin de Goiti discovered the Macabebe; wherein, he intended to reduce the number of native people and conquer the place.
On December 11th of 1571, Pampanga was divided into two towns and was dissolved into districts under Spanish authority. During that time, Pampanga has been considered one of the richest places in agriculture within the country, along with Manila and certain provinces. In fact, the Spaniards made the decision of turning it into a province of governmental control and taxation due to its rich cultivation, fishery, labor, and forestry industries.
On the other hand, the City of San Fernando, aka the ‘Heart of Central Luzon’, served as the Provincial Capital of Pampanga and Regional Center of Central Luzon due to its location. In the year 1754, the town was discovered and was named after the King Fernando IV of Spain. In 1892, Angeles City was called the ‘Bario Culiat’ and was separated from San Fernando. In the same year, the country’s national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal, made a stop-over in the town to find recruits as part of his mission. The Philippine Revolutionary troops that were led by General Antonio Luna burned the casa municipal that was made to be useless when the American forces approached the town in 1899.
In 1904, the Pampanga provincial government was transferred to San Fernando from Bacolor. Pampanga Sugar Development Company began to operate in 1921, which is the first Filipino company that financed sugar that became the catalyst for the exponential growth of San Fernando. However, it did not end the local’s hardship in dealing with the supervision and occupation of the Japanese Imperial Army in 1942. Not to mention, the Kapampangans are proven to be brave and can quickly stand on their feet as they are able to recover from the eruption of Mt. Pinatubo in 1991; it was a rough time for them as well as the other people residing in other provinces. Due to that, the Makatapak Festival has come to the surface– symbolizing the history of how difficult the duration and aftermath of the event were. Lastly, the year 2001 has been when San Fernando gained back the light and life of the town and became recognized as the 99th City of the Republic of the Philippines.

Kapampangan's Pride by Dhan Joshua De Paz
Adobong kamaru (mole cricket) The Kapampangan's pride
We take the route of curious human cultures. We try to stay open-minded and wait to decide whether we like something or not until we’ve given it a fair try and who knows maybe it can satisfy your taste buds, and they say it’s a perfect match to liquored beverages like beers. Whether you’re traveling in Asia or at a friend’s house for dinner, trying a new food is its own kind of culinary adventure! The thing is, though, sometimes stepping outside our comfort zone to try a strange dish or sample an unfamiliar ingredient can take a real leap of faith. Who would have known that the pest insect from the farmers could be eaten, the exotic food camuru of the Kapampangan cost php 700 every kilo! We all know that Pampanga is known as the Culinary Capital of the Philippines, and why not? The Kapampangan cuisine is legendary. If a Pampanga food trip is what is on your mind, it will be surely helpful to determine the adobong kamaru the pride of the Kapampangan’s!
Adobong Kamaru Source: The Daily Meal Background and Nutritional facts Mole crickets are a popular and nutritious snack in Thailand. When shallow fried or baked and mixed with Thai herbs or other seasoning they have a pleasant taste and contain a good source of protein and vitamins. According to the statistics Crickets are 65% protein by weight, and have a natural slightly nutty and earthy taste. In addition to chitosan and protein, crickets naturally contain all the essential amino acids, Omega-3s, Omega-6s, B12 and more which is good for your body. Adobong Kamaru Recipe ¼ kilo of kamaru (crickets) 3 pcs tomatoes. 1 medium size onion sliced. ¼ cup minced garlic. ¼ cup vinegar. 2-5 pcs chili ( labuyo ) 1 tsp salt and pepper. INSTRUCTIONS: 1. Wash the kamaru very well. 2. Sauté garlic and onion. 3. Add the sliced tomatoes, siling labuyo and the kamaru. 4. Mixed it well and simmer for 5 minutes. 5. Add the ¼ cup of vinegar and wait for 2 minutes. Don’t mixed it just let it boil. 6. Add salt and pepper to taste and serve. It's a very simple dish, can be prepared quickly and really affordable, if you can catch the Kamarus by yourself. At first sight, you might doubt if this food can really be eaten or not because it's gross and creepy looking. It's true that this food is not appealing and attractive to our sight but there is a saying that don't judge the book by its cover, so we better apply it even on simple things like trying new dishes and you can see that after trying it, you will not be bothered anymore about how it looks, instead, you'll love it and ask for more. You can never know unless you try! From the town people of Magalang in pampanga city there is a very popular restaurant that serves adobong Camuru, It is very easy to cook but it takes a long time to clean because they remove the feet and dirt according to Chef Berlin Perez, and once you are done cooking you can't really taste the insect feeling, on the other hand every first timer who tasted this said its delicious and had a positive experience on the Adobong Camuru.

Top 3 Home Options near Metro Manila
The property sector is amongst the most resilient industries in this time of the pandemic. This is driven by the truth that buying House and Lot is the core of every Filipino family’s aspirations. Buying real estate properties is also one of the driving factors for Overseas Filipino Workers to work abroad.
House and Lot for the family is on top of the property choices, while condominium offers an opportunity for rental and property appreciation considering its location and proximity to the major establishment and commercial districts. Prior to this pandemic, the market saw a trend of overseas Filipinos investing in vertical developments as income replacement with its rental potential and property appreciation.
In the metros, while condominium has become most preferred, quarantine protocols imposed by the government last year to avert the spread of the virus opened more opportunities to residential developments outside the Metro Manila. Those confined in limited spaces during the lockdowns have learned to realize the value of space and the importance of green spaces. In an article published by Philippine Star, Mr. Nicolas Mapa of ING Bank Manila said, “The Philippines is mirroring the global exodus from major cities, with city dwellers trading their flats for the clean and green of the suburbs outside the concrete jungle”.
Considering this and the on-set of work from home set up, we saw an upward trend of interests in House and Lot for Sale and Lots for Sale in the fringes of Metro Manila locations like Antipolo, Rizal in the east, Pampanga in the North and the favorite residential hub, Cavite in the South. The wider green spaces and emerging road networks are among their considerations. Property Management Company Santos Knight Frank also reported that these areas have recorded an increase of home buyers looking for house and lot and lots only for sale in the last quarter of 2020.
Homebuyers in this area are actively looking for houses with wide extra lots. Others are looking for Lots for Sale with the chance to build homes that best fit the need of their respective families. Homebuyers with existing properties are also on the lookout for residential lots for sale as a form of land banking for re-sell purposes or as a future inheritance.
Cavite
Over the years, Cavite is always an option for people looking for affordable house and lot but still wanting to be near workplaces in Metro Manila. Property developers like Camella Homes was able to establish several major residential hubs in its forty years of existence. The major infrastructure developments like road networks are under construction to make Cavite more accessible than before. Travel time has tremendously decreased by around thirty minutes to one hour.
While nearby Cavite towns’ property prices have appreciated over the years, the town of General Trias is now home to a more affordable house and lots and lots only for sale. With impressive almost 100 hectares developments like Camella Tierra Nevada and Bella Vista, investors get to enjoy the complete and exclusive amenities of living in these subdivisions and preserved spaces.
Camella Tierra Nevada and Bella Vista are perfect choices for all those who want to stay in the city and plan to commute to work daily. Also, the community is designed to be self-contained, offering everything from commercial centers, retail stores, restaurants, convenience stores, and drugstores, supermarkets to schools and to churches nearby.
Antipolo
Owning a property house and lot investment in Antipolo feels like going on a vacation every time you wake up in the morning. You get to enjoy natural and other tourist attractions like waterfalls, various resorts, green mountain views, art museums, and a religious pilgrimage site every waking day. These and all provide homeowners that provincial feel while overlooking the busy metropolis.
The picturesque Antipolo City is only 45 minutes or an hour away from the business and commercial districts of Quezon City, Ortigas, Taguig, and Makati. It is easily accessible with the existing and planned roads and continuously available transportation. Top educational institutions like UP, Ateneo, Assumption Antipolo, and Miriam College are just nearby. Popular malls such as Robinson’s Metro East, Sta. Lucia Mall and SM Masinag are just short rides away.
Owning your own House and Lot in Antipolo provides you access to both work, business, and nature while owning a Lot Only property gives you the advantage of property appreciation. Developed by Crown Asia, Maia Alta is a master-planned Italian-inspired subdivision with available House and Lot for Sale and Lots Only. This development is more than just spirited living; it also provides homeowners a sense of security and privacy.
Pampanga
This town in the north in Metro Manila has become closer to Metro Manila with just an hour travel time from Quezon City. With the opening of the interlink bridge between the north and south Luzon expressway, people get to reach north Luzon much quicker by avoiding the normal traffic of Metro Manila’s major thoroughfare, EDSA.
Living in subdivisions like Camella Sorrento in Mexico City Pampanga, which sits just beside the North Luzon Express Way, makes work and the city lifestyle of Metro Manila no longer a three-hour arduous drive. This Italian-inspired exclusive house and lot development is located just three minutes away from the North Luzon Express Way. Thus, making Pampanga’s commercial and family-friendly tourism sites accessible. It also sits beside the upcoming commercial development that will house the biggest wholesale one-stop hub for housing and commercial supplies in South East Asia.
Known as the culinary capital of the Philippines, the foods that Kapampangan offers will always delight its homeowners. These and the natural attraction that it offers makes Pampanga attractive to families looking for their own open and green living space.
All Properties
AllProperties offers options for future homebuyers in these areas with property listings ranging from ready homes and lots only for sale in Pampanga, Antipolo, and towns of Cavite like Bacoor, Imus, Dasmarinas, and General Trias. These subdivisions are also fully developed which provides them an option for easy and convenient move-in.

QC: 7th city born during first 4 years of PH Commonwealth
#PHnews: QC: 7th city born during first 4 years of PH Commonwealth
MANILA – As Quezon City officials and residents prepare for the celebration of the 81st anniversary of the erstwhile capital of the Philippines on Oct. 12, this writer decided to conduct a research to find out how many cities were created nationwide during the Commonwealth Government from 1935 to 1946.
A glance at the website of the League of Cities of the Philippines (LCP) shows that aside from Quezon City, Commonwealth President Manuel L. Quezon established nine other cities in Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao during the first four years of his term and until the spread of World War II to the Philippines on Dec. 8, 1941.
Quezon was sworn in as the first president of the Commonwealth Government on Nov. 15, 1935. He died on Aug. 1, 1944, while his administration was in exile in the United States due to World War II.
QC was the seventh city created during Quezon's incumbency and the ninth since the time of the Philippine Commission in 1901.
The Philippine Commonwealth-born cities, according to their charter numbers and dates of creation, were: Zamboanga City, Commonwealth Act (CA) No. 39, Aug. 4, 1936; Davao City, CA 51, Oct. 16, 1936; Iloilo City, CA 57, Oct. 20, 1936; Cebu City, CA 58, Oct. 20, 1936; Bacolod City, CA 326, June 18, 1938; Tagaytay City, CA 338, June 21, 1938; Quezon City, CA 502, Oct. 12, 1939; San Pablo City, CA 520, May 7, 1940; Cavite City, CA 547, May 26, 1940; and Marawi City, CA 592, Aug. 19, 1940.
According to the LCP, the first two chartered cities in the Philippines were Manila, which was created by the Philippine Commission Act No. 183 of July 31, 1901, and the City of Baguio in Benguet which was declared as the "Summer Capital of the Philippines" on Sept. 1, 1909, through Philippine Commission Act No. 1963.
The Manila City Charter was amended by the Philippine Congress through Republic Act 409, otherwise known as the Revised Charter of the City of Manila, on June 18, 1949.
There was a hiatus in the creation of new cities in the Philippines after Japanese forces bombed the American naval base in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, on Dec. 8, 1941, that eventually dragged the Philippines into World War II.
There were no cities founded during the incumbency of Presidents Jose P. Laurel Sr. (1943-1945) and Sergio S. Osmena Sr. (1944-1946), as they ruled while the country was at war with Japan. The same was true with President Emilio F. Aguinaldo (1898-1901 due to the Filipino-American conflict.
After the United States granted independence to the Philippines on July 4, 1946, the administration of President Manuel A. Roxas resumed the creation of additional cities in the country.
As of 1972, the year President Ferdinand E. Marcos declared martial law and abolished the 1935 Constitution, the Congress, and the Judiciary, there was a total of 60 cities nationwide.
Of these cities, the biggest number of 15 was founded during the 20-year rule of Marcos (1965-Feb. 25, 1986), followed by Presidents Quezon (1935-1944), Elpidio R. Quirino (1948-1953), and Carlos P. Garcia (1957-1961) with 10 each.
Former President Diosdado P. Macapagal (1961-1965) signed eight cityhood laws; President Roxas (1946-1948), four; and President Ramon F. Magsaysay (1953-1957), one.
The 15 cityhood bills approved by Marcos were those of Bais in Negros Oriental; Batangas in Batangas province; Cadiz, Negros Occidental; Dipolog, Zamboanga del Norte; General Santos, South Cotabato; Iriga, Camarines Sur; Mandaue, Cebu; Olongapo, Zambales, Oroquieta, Misamis Occidental; Pagadian, Zamboanga del Sur; Puerto Princesa, Palawan; Surigao, Surigao del Norte; Tagbilaran, Bohol; Tangub, Misamis Occidental; and San Jose, Nueva Ecija.
The 10 cities born during Quirino's time were: Butuan in Agusan del Norte; Cabanatuan, Nueva Ecija; Cagayan de Oro, Misamis Oriental; Calbayog, Samar; Dumaguete, Negros Oriental; Iligan, Lanao del Norte; Naga, Camarines Sur; Ozamiz, Misamis Occidental; Roxas, Capiz; and Tacloban, Leyte.
Those founded during Garcia's presidency were: Caloocan in Rizal (now in Metropolitan Manila); Canlaon, Negros Oriental; Cotabato, Maguindanao; Danao, Cebu; Gingoog, Misamis Oriental; Lapu-Lapu, Cebu; Legazpi, Albay; San Carlos, Negros Occidental; Silay, Negros Occidental; and Toledo, Cebu.
The eight cityhood laws signed by President Macapagal were those of Angeles in Pampanga; Bago, Negros Occidental; Dapitan, Zamboanga del Norte; La Carlota, Negros Occidental; Laoag, Ilocos Norte; Lucena, Quezon; Palayan, Nueva Ecija; and San Carlos, Pangasinan.
The four former towns that became cities during the time of Roxas were: Dagupan in Pangasinan; Lipa, Batangas; Ormoc, Leyte; and Rizal City before it became Pasay in Metro Manila.
The lone city created during Magsaysay's time was Trece Martires in Cavite.
Although not mandated by the 1987 Constitution, there was a virtual moratorium on the creation of new cities in the country during the six-and-a-half-year term of President Corazon C. Aquino (Feb. 25, 1986-June 30, 1992).
Upon the opening of the new Congress in July 1987, the people of the divided former town of Novaliches, now shared by Quezon City and Caloocan City, petitioned the House of Representatives to convert their former town into the 61st city of the country.
However, the attempt became futile due to the strong objections of the officials of both QC and Caloocan City.
The creation of new cities in the country resumed in the second year of the six-year term of President Fidel V. Ramos, who succeeded Mrs. Aquino on June 30, 1992.
Ramos spearheaded the creation of the 61st city in the country -- Mandaluyong in Metro Manila -- by signing Republic Act No. 7676 in 1994.
Not long afterward, at least seven other cities were created in the National Capital Region (NCR) by the Ramos administration. These were Pasig, Makati, Muntinlupa, Marikina, Las Pinas, Parañaque, and Valenzuela.
The other five cities of Metro Manila at present -- San Juan, Malabon, Navotas, Taguig, and Valenzuela -- were created during the succeeding administrations of Presidents Joseph E. Estrada, Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, and Benigno S. Aquino III.
With the NCR now having a total of 16 cities, only Pateros in southern Metro Manila remains a town.
On Feb. 23, 1998, Ramos also signed RA 8535 creating the City of Novaliches, but this time, the proposal was defeated in a plebiscite held throughout Quezon City on Oct. 23, 1999.
Aside from the creation of eight new cities in Metro Manila, President Ramos was also credited with the birth of several other cities in the rest of the country.
According to the latest data from the Philippine Statistics Authority, the country now has 81 provinces, 146 cities, 1,488 municipalities, and 42,046 barangays in 17 regions.
The youngest Philippine city so far is that of Sto. Tomas in Batangas, whose cityhood law, RA 11086, was signed by President Rodrigo R. Duterte in 2018 and ratified by the local voters in a plebiscite held on Sept. 7, 2019.
Sto. Tomas is the fourth city in Batangas province after Lipa, Batangas, and Tanauan. (PNA)

THE HIDDEN BEAUTY OF ARAYAT PAMPANGA
Our world has a lot to offer. It gives us millions of reasons to live, to love, and treasure what we got in life. Being able to see its beauty is such a wondrous gift that we must be thankful of. Come on and ride with us as we share to you a glimpse of what Arayat, Pampanga has to offer in tourism.
There are countless of spots that you can visit once you come here. Below are some of the places that I've been to together with a good friend of mine.
•Palm Cabanas Resort
Recently, Palm Cabanas Resort opened its door to the mass. A week before the opening, we were invited to feature the resort to inform the public that a new vacation area/events place is about to be unfolded. The resort has its own cafeteria (Cafe Cabana) where the drinks are so refreshing especially their different tea and coffee blends, two function halls, and even its own restaurant (Kusina de Cabana) which offers various types of cuisines.
The ambiance of the place made me feel like I am somewhere out of my town because of the serenity that you can feel. It has wide-open area with camera worthy sceneries which is good for picture taking. It was just a bit disappointing because it does not have that much trees, it is sunny, and sandy. If you don't want to be tanned, better if you will put plenty of sunblock into your skin or bring your hat or umbrella to cover your self from the heat of the sun. Nevertheless, it is a cool place to stay with any time you want to.
For more info about the resort click the links below.
•Bahay Antigo
Bahay Antigo is located at Paralaya Arayat, Pampanga. While we are entering the house I feel that there is something about this house that no can tell. Also, we were amazed because it's our first time to enter the house and to see it's beauty not totally inside but the outside of the house. The structure of the house looks like new but it also have some renovation . Like their make it somehow half modern and at the same time old style. As you enter the house you can see a small chapel there and it looks creepy and it makes me to have a goosebumps. After that there is like a fountain at the side of the house it looks beautiful and you can take as many photos you want or if you like some instragrammable photos just go there. We expected to go inside of the house but the housekeeper of the house won't let us in because of some issue and order by the real owners of the house. I was disappointed that I never got the chance to see some old stuff of house even Helena but I know someday I'm gonna see them not to today but in the future. There is no single history about the Bahay Antigo but Its oldness will serves us as the history. If you want to go here just have a permission and give a token for the house keeper.
•St. Catalina de Alexandria Parish Church
Another highlight of the Arayateños is the St. Catherine of Alexandria Parish Church in Poblacion Arayat, Pampanga. As we enter the church I expected that I'll be the one who will introduced everything about the church because Helena is an I.N.C and I'm the only one talaga . Also, It's a big Honor to introduce the church as a product of AHCEFI . Did you know that the Church was one of the oldest churches in Pampanga, it was founded by the Augustian Priest. The church has so many events that was happened long ago. Also, It was renovated inside and outside from the façade going to the sanctuary but the main altar is still original. The St. Alexendria Parish Church is open for everyone no matter who you are or what you are because God does not choose any person.
Did you know that our late President Manuel L. Quezon and his Wife Dona Aurora Quezon visited the St. 6Alexandria Church Parish in their times.
Baliti Dam is known as the Arayat's Fishing and Boating Hideaway. It has been the "go to" place of the tourists which leads the Mayor of Arayat to renovate this two-hectare dam not just to satisfy the people, but also to help the tourism in the city.
Baliti Dam is a perfect place for a perfect date with your lover, friend/s, family, or anyone that you wanna be with. You can enjoy feeding and catching fishes, or just ride the boat and think about why life is like this.
• Baliti Dam
A castle-like house structured by stone was once a tourist attraction then, but slowly faded because it does not given the attention anymore by the people through the previous years. It was made of stone because it's always burning and being circulated by termites due to the place where it is located, near the foot of the mountain. Bahay na Bato was used to be a mini resort but then eventually closed.
Fun fact!
GMA Channel 7 made this as their location for their fantasy series "Illumina" back then.
•Bahay na Bato
What a nice thing it is to have this dam which releases volumes of water to irrigate the 5.6 hectares of farms in Pampanga. Cong Dadong Dam plays a huge part to the community. Aside from it helps the people to have a source of income by means of fishing, it also helps the tourism. People come to this place to have and feel the calmness and peacefulness that they need.
Another fun fact!
Some of the clips from the movie "100 Tula Para Kay Stella" and the music video "Balisong" by The Juan's were taken here.
•Cong Dadong Dam
•Arayat National Park
A perfect place to bond with your love ones during summer is the Arayat National Park. It is one of the tourist spot that Arayateneos are proud of and the Park is an Eco-Friendly society. Every year the park gained a lot of tourist because of It's Beauty. It's not your usual kind of resort that you see because the water from the pools are coming from the mountain no chemicals added, the park is part of the mountain and you can do a lot of things because of the natures beauty. Don't ya worry the entrance price is just 50 to 75 pesos only that anyone can afford it. We all know that there's a lot of bad reviews about the resort but don't just look on bad side look on bright side. Aslo, there is this 100 steps going to a top and going to the Arayat tree House and this is a perfect view to look at.
One more tourist spot that the arayateños are proud of is the Tree House or also know " Bahay Kubo na nakatayo sa itaas ng puno". It is located at San. Juan Bano Arayat, Pampanga and its I near the park just hike it your there already. The park is perfect place for jogging and for some bikers also. As you enter the place you can see a lot of Nippa Hut and another instragramable things that you can take. The Arayatenos are accepting tourist you can go during Monday to Saturday from 5 am to 6 pm.

We don't just serve yummy foods but we serve also a good nature of ours here in Pampanga. It depends on what your expectation are and what you want to get out during summer and etc. If you want your stress to relieve just go to Arayat, Pampanga a lot of hidden stuff you can find and the arayateños are waiting for you!

Onslaught 3/11
A week and a half later, June 23, House packed his bag with Wilson’s help. They had been packing all day yesterday; their backpacks were brought to the brim. Wilson overpacked; he wanted to make House comfortable. He and House had wanted to treat this trip as a vacation. While away for five weeks in the Philippines, one week they would spend in the city of Clark in the province of Pampanga, two hours drive from the capital Manila. Then after the conference, the plan was to go backpacking across Luzon, one of the three main islands of the country.
After the incident with his birthday House told Cameron that he was on the spectrum. The woman was on a hissy, half pitying and half freak out. She had almost blurted to a patient's father that Dr. House was autistic. Chase just removed her from the potential disaster on time.
House was furious, and stress out. He finagled a five-week vacation from Cuddy. He told her about an offer for a research position at UCLA, and he was ready to take it. Wilson was willing to go with him. Cuddy was taken aback; she gave in without any fuss.
They took an Uber to the John F. Kennedy Airport in New York City. As soon as they were there, House’s nerves were shot to hell. He had taken his Luvox, which he only takes when extremely anxious.
“Greg, You okay?” Wilson asked while they walked to their gate. House put a hand on his ears, even though he has his noise-canceling headphones on. The airport was busy; people were rubbing against him. House was on the brink of a meltdown. “Okay, Greg,” Wilson said dragging him to go to a bathroom.
As soon as the bathroom open House went inside a cubicle. Wilson followed him in; his partner was rocking back and forth. The oncologist slid down next to House and hugged him. The noise overwhelmed him, and too many people. Wilson knew this; He just stayed in the bathroom for thirty minutes. Luckily for them, they were an hour early.
After the meltdown ended, House felt humiliated. Wilson sensed this. “Hey?” Wilson said. “You don’t need to feel embarrassed, Greg. I love you.”
House huffed; he lost his words. As a child, whenever he had a meltdown, his Oma would know how to coax him, hugging him tightly. “Jimmy, I’m fine,” House said, regaining his barrings.
Wilson blinked and handed House the cane. He used a cane whenever they would walk far. His legs were easily fatigued due to hypotonia, which was related to the Autism. They walked hand and hand; Wilson kept House’s guitar bag, it was the Martin LX1.
The next hurdle of this trip was the pat-down search. House past thru a metal detector fine; an agent stopped him. “Mister, where do you think you’re going?” The TSA agent asked.
House; oblivious to the sarcasm said. “To a medical conference in the Philippines, I’m a doctor.”
Wilson frowned. “Sir, please forgive him, he has Autism,” He said. The glare from House didn’t stop him. “He doesn’t understand sarcasm.” The statement was half correct. House could understand sarcasm when he knew the person speaking.
The TSA agent, a man asked. Are you his brother?”
Wilson glowered at him. “He's my husband.”
The TSA agent looked at House with disgust. Wilson sighed. “Where the hell is your supervisor? Because I won’t let you harass us for being gay. Being gay is not a crime. I don’t know what you saw on him, but you are looking at the wrong person here. As he said, he is a doctor, not a terrorist. “ The agent looked humiliated.
Wilson led House out to their gates. They sat at a frequent flyer lounge, Wilson and House were both frequent flyers. They flew at least once a month to go visit House’s 86-year-old Oma in Portland. While his parents settled in Eugine.
“Greg? You doing okay?” Wilson asked while they drink coffee.
House looked at him. "What do you think? You called me autistic in front of a bear; I have no choice but to give a speech." He said, and his voice was bitter.
Wilson knew House. His spouse didn’t like it when people questioned their relationship, saying that because he had autism he didn’t know how to Love, romantically. “I’m sorry, I just need to get him off your back.”
House sighed. “I don’t want you to tell people I’m on the spectrum, James. It’s my business. “ He knew that House was upset when he uses his first name, not his nickname, ninety-nine percent of the time he was Jimmy to House or (Wilson at work.)
He knew not to argue with him; he was right. “Okay, I am sorry again.”
The overhead speakers announced their flight. They both got their backpacks, Wilson took the guitar, while House took his cane. They boarded the flight without any difficulties.
As they sat at first-class, House opened his laptop sleeve and got his MacBook Pro; and began editing the speech, that Wilson wrote. While Wilson got to sleep.
The fifteen-hour flight was a success.
During the flight, House played on his phone and iPad. While awake, Wilson researched LGBT issues in the Philippines. Although there are no laws on the criminalization of homosexuality; the country has no protection for being a gay man. According to his source, a nurse back in Princeton; "The Philippines is like the US in the ’90s. People in the country were more tolerant and accepting, though."
The plane touched down at Clark-Diosdado Macapagal International Airport. This was Wilson’s first time here in Asia; He and House had vacationed in Europe a bit. They had avoided Asia and Africa for safety reasons.
“Jimmy, welcome to my home for five years.” Said House as he ordered a (Grab car) an Uber-like service in the country.
The Grab CAr arrived. As soon as they were in the got inside the car, House slumped in a seat. “Mabuhay, Welcome to the Philippines, My name is Carlos.”
Wilson looked at his partner for cultural guidance. “People in the country understands English pretty well, they had been learning it for years since Pre-School,” House told Wilson while slumping next to him in exhaustion.
“Okay, Carlos,” Wilson said. “What are the best places for food?”
The driver smiled. “There is the mall; you can eat at some of our restaurants. First timer?”
Wilson smiled despite his exhaustion. “Yes, but my partner lived here when he was a teenager.”
The driver’s smile was never faltered. “Where are you from?”
“We are from New Jersey.”
They arrived at their hotel. “If you want a ride, call me,” Carlos told Wilson in parting, giving him his personal number.
Wilson booked a suite; at the Clark Marriott hotel. As soon as House saw their bed, he removed his blue Hershel & Co backpack and slumped to sleep. Wilson followed after a quick shower.
GH/JW
Hours later, It was ten in the morning they had arrived at 4AM. House woke up. They needed to buy OTC medications. They didn’t usually bring so many things, because he and that conveyor belt don’t mix. “Jimmy? You awake?” House asked, shaking Wilson. “Am hungry.”
Wilson mumbled, “Greg, what time is it?”
House looked at the alarm clock. “ten-thirty. I‘m hungry.”
Wilson stood up and got his jeans from underneath the bed.
“Can we call for room service instead of going outside?” House asked, getting his laptop from his bag.
Wilson most defiantly wanted to say no; Let's go outside and mingle in with the locals at the mall, but no, House needed to rest, for lunch, he would urge. “Okay." Wilson got the hotel phone. Then he asked as though forgotten. “What kinds of Filipino food do you eat when you were younger?”
House remembered the taste of one of the handfuls of mushy food he would eat, Kaldereta. Kaldereta was made of goat or sometimes beef with liver paste and tomato sauce. He’d love the beef version. “Kal- De- Re- Ta. Kaldereta.” When Wilson gave him a questioning look. “or Adobo.” He said the words with the correct accent.
“You call them yourself,” Wilson suggested. House looked at Wilson as if Wilson killed his puppy. Right, social anxiety, he thought. House swallowed nervously. “I won’t let you call them, okay?” Wilson was reminded; how House was in many ways a kid.
He dialed the number, “Do you have, Kaldereta or Adobo?” The staff on the other line answered an affirmative, “An order of adobo and kaldereta, please, Rice?" House gave a big nod, he ordered rice too. “So what are we going to do today?” Wilson asked; when the phone call ended.
“Do some touristy things with you?” House said, peering from playing on his iPad.
They have watched CNN Philippines on the hotel’s flat-screen TV. It was an English channel but was geared towards Filipinos and what was happening in the country. “There is a freaking Typhoon,” House commented as he saw what was on the TV screen.
“Where is it headed?” Wilson asked.
“We don’t know yet,” House said, as he peered towards a half-opened window. Meteorology had been one of his obsessions growing up.
Their food arrived fifteen minutes later. House looked at his food, and the Kaldereta looked and smelled lovely. House tasted it; as soon as he tasted his food. He was brought back almost 30 years ago; in the same town, that was previously a military base.
Wilson was delighted to see him eat; House regularly didn’t eat, he didn’t like the texture, or the smell or its high caloric. His partner was closed to being too thin. “Greg, you really love it here?” He asked as he took a bit off his chicken adobo; it was really good.
House looked at everything, but not at Wilson. He is gearing up for a speech. “When I was eight, I was homeschooled because of autism. I was bullied. I was with Oma Abbigail in California, while mom joined father somewhere in South America. I didn’t come; it's too dangerous. When I got here, in Clark, knowing a few words of Tagalog. I started in the third grade. They just put me on the fourth grade a month into it, After that school year I was entering the sixth grade.”
“Where I went to school was an international school, but 80 percent are Filipinos. Kids didn’t bully me, unlike that back in the states. They liked me, Here I was a Kano-puti or white American.” House said, touching the keyboard of his laptop repetitively.
Wilson didn’t know what to say. “I am sorry you went through that, babe.”
“Don’t be,” House said, making eye contact for the first time since the question started.
