Walk on the wild side by Shelly Lynn Hachey O Via Flickr: I wasn’t walking - I was safely in my vehicle watching this black bear walk along the ditch in the countryside. Sure was a pretty bear to watch. Hope it had a safe remainder to last season and emerges again this Spring. Taken in Alberta, Canada.

I’m trying to improve my skills behind and in front of the camera. If nothing else, being more comfortable in front of the camera will give me more opportunity to experiment, learn, and improve my actual photography skills - playing with set ups, backgrounds, gear, and lighting whenever I feel like it without needing to wait for an available model.

So I took these self-portraits in my flat.

Recently I posted these on Threads and was surprised at how many people said they didn’t think they were worth taking photos of. They wish they took more but felt silly doing it or like there was no point.

Everyone is worthy. It’s such a beautiful thing and I never regret taking these kinds of photos, even if I do feel silly in the moment.

And since I’m the photographer, I get to decide which ones the world sees.

Maybe she's born with it, Maybe it's May-bear-line by Shelly Lynn Hachey O Via Flickr: This Coastal Brown Bear, from Alaska, was searching for clams as the tide was out. She had her head down (as most bears do) but lifted just as the right time in my direction. She sure was a beauty (I was going to edit out her string of slobber but kind it adds to her clam digging appetite).
