Skills Immigration: This stream, primarily using a points-based invitation system, is for skilled and semi-skilled workers in high-demand occupations in BC. Candidates may not need prior work experience for some categories; however, Entry-Level and Semi-Skilled category applicants require B.C. work experience. Candidates may have work experience from abroad; and recent international graduates of a Canadian post-secondary institution may not need any work experience, depending on the job being offered.

Entrepreneur Immigration: This stream, using a points-based invitation system, is for experienced entrepreneurs who wish to actively manage a business in BC. Applicants must create a minimum number of jobs, have the required personal net worth, and make a minimum level of eligible investment.
Entrepreneur Immigration – Regional Pilot: an option for entrepreneurs who wish to start a new business in participating regional communities across BC.

Comprehensive Guide for Canada PR in Melbourne, Victoria, and Perth Applicants
Canada is a popular destination for immigrants worldwide, known for its high quality of life, diverse culture, and economic opportunities. Securing Permanent Residency (PR) in Canada offers numerous benefits, including access to social services, healthcare, and the right to live and work anywhere in the country. If you’re based in Melbourne, Victoria, or Perth, this guide will provide insights into the Canada PR process tailored to your needs.
What is Canada PR?
Canada PR is a status granted to individuals who are not Canadian citizens but have been authorized to live and work in Canada without time restrictions. A PR card serves as proof of your status and is necessary for international travel. PR holders can apply for citizenship after meeting certain residency requirements.
Benefits of Canada PR
Work and Live Anywhere in Canada: PR holders are not tied to a specific employer or region.
Social Benefits: Access to healthcare and social security programs.
Path to Citizenship: PR is a stepping stone to becoming a Canadian citizen.
Family Sponsorship: PR holders can sponsor their family members for residency.
Popular Pathways to Canada PR for Melbourne, Victoria, and Perth Residents
1. Express Entry Program
The Express Entry system is one of the fastest and most popular routes for skilled workers. It includes three main categories:
Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP): Suitable for professionals with work experience and qualifications.
Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP): Ideal for skilled tradespersons.
Canadian Experience Class (CEC): For those with Canadian work experience.
Applicants from Melbourne, Victoria, and Perth often succeed in this program due to Australia’s focus on skilled professionals, which aligns with Canada’s criteria.
2. Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)
Under the PNP, Canadian provinces and territories nominate candidates who meet specific labor market needs. For example, skilled professionals in fields like healthcare, IT, and education are often in high demand. This pathway is ideal for applicants who prefer to settle in specific regions of Canada.
3. Family Sponsorship Program
Residents of Victoria, Melbourne, and Perth with close family members in Canada may be eligible for sponsorship programs.
4. Study-to-PR Pathway
Many students from Australia, particularly Victoria and Perth, choose to study in Canada and later transition to PR. This pathway provides a dual advantage: a Canadian education and work experience.
Tips for Australia-Based Applicants
Hire a Consultant: Navigating the PR process can be complex. Consider hiring a professional immigration consultant familiar with applications from Melbourne, Victoria, and Perth.
Prepare Documentation: Ensure all documents, including IELTS scores, Educational Credential Assessment (ECA), and work experience letters, are in order.
Focus on CRS Score: The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score determines your eligibility for Express Entry. Aim for a high score through language proficiency and additional qualifications.
Stay Updated: Immigration policies can change. Regularly check updates on Canadian immigration programs relevant to applicants from Australia.
Conclusion
Obtaining a Canada PR is a life-changing opportunity, offering a brighter future for individuals and families. If you’re in Melbourne, Victoria, or Perth, the pathways to PR are diverse and accessible. With proper planning and guidance, you can achieve your dream of living and thriving in Canada.

IRCC invites Express Entry candidates in first French-language draw of December
Tumblr media
Table of Contents:
Introduction to the Latest Express Entry Draw
What is Express Entry?
Key Details of the Latest Draw for French-Speaking Candidates
CRS Score Requirements and Category-Based Selections
Impact of Recent and Future Immigration Trends on Canadian Immigration
The Role of Wave Visas and Wave Immigration Consultant in Your Immigration Journey
Conclusion
1. Introduction to the Latest Express Entry Draw
Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has recently issued more Invitations to Apply (ITAs) in the latest Express Entry draw. This round of invitations, which took place in December, focused on candidates with strong French-language proficiency. A total of 800 candidates were invited to apply, and the minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score required was 466. This marks the second Express Entry draw of December, following a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)-focused selection earlier in the month.
As we move into 2025, Canadian immigration is expected to see more category-based selections, further increasing the chances of applicants, especially those proficient in French, to receive ITAs. In this blog, we’ll explore how this draw, along with upcoming trends, affects Canadian immigration and how you can benefit from these opportunities.
Summary of Express Entry draws in 2024
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
2. What is Express Entry?
Express Entry is an online system used by the Canadian government to manage applications for three major federal economic immigration programs:
Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
In addition to these programs, candidates who are nominated through an Express Entry-aligned Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) stream may also be invited through the Express Entry system. Applicants are evaluated based on the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), which assigns points for factors like age, education, language skills, and work experience.
A provincial nomination adds 600 CRS points, significantly improving the chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA). Category-based selections, introduced in 2023, invite candidates with specific skills or qualifications to apply, further diversifying the pool of potential immigrants.
3. Key Details of the Latest Draw for French-Speaking Candidates
The latest Express Entry draw issued 800 ITAs specifically for candidates with French language proficiency. To be considered, candidates needed a minimum CRS score of 466. This draw is part of Canada's ongoing effort to encourage Francophone immigration outside of Quebec, in line with its Francophone Immigration Strategy.
This move aligns with Canada's Immigration Levels Plan, which allocates 82,980 permanent residency (PR) admissions for the “In-Canada” focus category. This category will prioritize candidates from the Canadian Experience Class and other regional programs, but it will also include applicants from the Federal Skilled Worker Program and the Federal Skilled Trades Program.
4. CRS Score Requirements and Category-Based Selections
In the recent draw, the CRS score cut-off for French-speaking candidates was 466. The CRS score is an important part of the selection process for Express Entry, and it is based on factors such as:
Age
Work experience
Education level
Language proficiency (in either English or French)
Candidates with higher CRS scores are more likely to receive an ITA, especially when they meet the specific criteria for a particular draw. With category-based selections, such as those for French speakers, candidates who meet specific language or professional requirements might be invited even with lower CRS scores compared to general draws.
This targeted approach helps Canada meet its labor market and demographic goals by attracting individuals with skills that are in demand, such as those who are proficient in French.
5. Impact of Recent and Future Immigration Trends on Canadian Immigration
The trends in Express Entry draws indicate a significant shift in Canadian immigration priorities. The focus on French-speaking candidates is expected to increase, with a planned allocation of 29,235 PR admissions for French speakers outside of Quebec in 2025. The number of ITAs for this category is expected to grow in 2026 and 2027, in line with Canada's Francophone Immigration Strategy.
Moreover, category-based selections are likely to become a more prominent feature of Express Entry draws in the future. The introduction of the new "In-Canada" focus category highlights Canada's goal to increase permanent residency admissions for candidates already living and working in Canada, particularly those in the Canadian Experience Class (CEC).
For anyone looking to apply through Express Entry, this means more opportunities and a changing landscape for Canadian immigration.
6. The Role of Wave Visas and Wave Immigration Consultant in Your Immigration Journey

7. Conclusion
The latest Express Entry draw continues Canada’s focus on attracting skilled immigrants, with an emphasis on French-speaking candidates. This is part of a broader trend that aims to meet Canada’s labor market and demographic needs by welcoming immigrants with skills that match specific requirements. The growing number of category-based selections makes it a great time for prospective immigrants to explore their options.

Canada Plans More PR in 2025?
Tumblr media
The Canada Immigration Levels Plan, which outlines the annual targets for immigrant admissions, has considerable implications for candidates within the Express Entry system. Migration remains a crucial component of Canada’s economy. Agreeing to the most recent arrangement, there will be an increment in the number of Lasting Inhabitant spots accessible to Express Section candidates in 2025 compared to the past year. However, it is noteworthy that this year has witnessed a decrease in the overall target for Permanent Residents.
Enhanced Opportunities for Express Entry Candidates:
A key question that emerges is how this plan will affect Express Entry candidates. Two primary groups are poised to benefit from these changes:
Candidates currently residing in Canada
Candidates eligible for Category-based draws
Conversely, candidates from other categories may encounter difficulties with their applications. The taking after table outlines the allotment of Express Passage candidates for the a long time 2024 and 2025:
2025 target – current Arrange: 124,680
2025 target – final year’s Arrange: 117,500
2024 target – final year’s Plan: 110,770
The target for 2025, set at 124,680 Express Section candidates, which envelops both “Economic Priorities” and “In-Canada Focus,” speaks to an increment from the target built up for 2024. In that year, the IRCC centered on the Government Tall Talented Category. Applicants can anticipate a greater number of Invitations to Apply (ITAs) through the Express Entry pathway in 2025 compared to 2024.
Impact on Candidates with an "In-Canada Focus":
A significant alteration in the recent Immigration Levels Plan is the emphasis on candidates currently residing in Canada. Individuals holding a transitory work allow in Canada are more likely to get an Welcome to Apply (ITA). The Canadian government is particularly interested in retaining skilled workers.
Recently, Marc Miller expressed his commitment to increasing the frequency of immigration draws for in-Canada residents. This initiative aims to assist temporary residents in their pursuit of Permanent Resident status. The IRCC has issued a add up to of 25,700 ITAs over eight Canadian Involvement Course (CEC) draws from May to October 2024.
Emphasis on Category-based Draws:
The IRCC will place greater emphasis on candidates who demonstrate proficiency in the French language or possess advanced skills. Canada aims to enhance cultural diversity while simultaneously addressing labor shortages. The IRCC has established a target of 41,700 permanent residents under a category designated as “Federal Economic Priorities,” which will be pursued through category-based draws.
These category-based draws will invite applications for Canadian Permanent Residency from individuals in the following areas:
Proficiency in the French language
Healthcare professions
Transportation sectors
Science, advancement, building, and number juggling (STEM) areas
Skilled trades
Agriculture and agri-food sectors
To qualify for these category-based movement draws, candidates must have six a long time of full-time encounter, or an proportionate sum of part-time encounter, in an in-demand occupation inside the final three a long time.

Canada Conducted Latest CEC Draw under Express Entry
Candidates are encouraged to apply for permanent residency (PR) through the most recent Express Entry lottery, which was held by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). Under the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) category, 400 invitations to apply (ITAs) were sent out in this draw. Candidates had to have a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 539 in order to be eligible.
Tumblr media
Current Express Entry Draw Trends
The most recent draw comes just after the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw on November 18, when 174 applicants with a minimum CRS score of 816 received invites. Express Entry lotteries are taking place for the second week in a row, underscoring IRCC's dedication to accepting skilled immigrants. A total of 1,933 ITAs were given last week in a number of categories, including as the PNP, CEC, and applicants who speak French.
Increased Immigration Goals for the Upcoming Year
The IRCC's revised Immigration Levels Plan predicts a sharp rise in immigration via the Express Entry system. Next year, 124,680 Express Entry applicants are expected to arrive in Canada. Notably, the new In-Canada Focus category will get more than 82,000 admissions. Candidates from the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), and PNP-aligned Express Entry streams may also fall under this category, which primarily gives preference to CEC candidates. In addition, 41,700 admissions to permanent residency will be classified as Federal Economic Priorities. In order to meet the demands of the Canadian labor market, this stream seeks to draw applicants with experience in in-demand professions and vocations.
Understanding the Express Entry System
Tumblr media
The online application management system for Canada's three main economic immigration programs is called Express Entry:
Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
The Comprehensive Ranking System is used to assess applicants (CRS). Points are awarded by this method according on criteria such as:
Age
Education
Work experience
Language skills
Occupation
Candidates can also earn additional points for:
Having a sibling in Canada
Applying with a spouse or partner
Integrating education and work experience gained in both Canada and other countries
Those nominated through a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) stream receive an extra 600 CRS points, greatly improving their chances of receiving an ITA.
How ITAs Are Issued?
Candidates with the highest CRS scores are prioritized in future draws, provided they meet the draw-specific requirements. This merit-based system ensures that the most qualified individuals have the opportunity to contribute to Canada’s economy and society.

Article
Introduction
Canada’s Express Entry system serves as one of the most accessible and widely utilized pathways for skilled immigrants who aspire to achieve permanent residency. The system’s structured scoring model ranks applicants based on a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) that factors in education, work experience, language proficiency, and other elements. In recent months, the IRCC has adjusted its draw patterns, leading to changes in the frequency and size of invitations. For anyone hoping to receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA), staying updated on these trends is crucial to boosting one’s chances of success.
Current State of the Express Entry Pool
The Express Entry program operates through multiple streams, each designed to address Canada’s specific immigration priorities. These streams include:
Provincial Nominee Program (PNP): Targets individuals with the skills and experience needed in specific provinces.
Canadian Experience Class (CEC): Aims at candidates with Canadian work experience.
French Language Proficiency: Encourages French-speaking immigrants.
Trade Occupations: Focuses on skilled trade workers in high-demand fields.
Following a slower period in September, IRCC ramped up the frequency of draws in October. Although there were more draws, they were smaller in size, leading to an increase in CRS score cutoffs. As a result, candidates are encouraged to improve their CRS scores through factors like language proficiency and Canadian work experience.
Express Entry Draws in October 2024
October 2024 saw several targeted draws, each with unique CRS cutoffs and ITA counts. Here’s a breakdown of the month’s activity:
Draw Number
Date
Round Type
ITAs Issued
CRS Cut-off Score

320
October 22
CEC

321
October 23
Trade Occupations

433
These patterns reflect IRCC’s focus on provincial nominees, French-speaking candidates, and trade occupations, which align with Canada’s strategic goals of addressing labor shortages and fostering diversity.
Trends and Observations from October’s Draws
The October draws reveal some key trends worth noting:
Higher CRS Cutoffs: Frequent but smaller draws increased the average CRS score requirements. Applicants must focus on maximizing their CRS scores through language and work experience enhancements.
Focus on Specific Streams: The IRCC prioritized candidates in the CEC, PNP, and French-speaking categories, particularly those with Canadian work experience or bilingual skills.
Targeted Draw for Trade Occupations: The dedicated draw on October 23 for trade occupations underscores Canada’s emphasis on meeting labor demands in trade fields.
Comparing Monthly ITA Numbers in 2024
Tracking ITA numbers over recent months reveals a clear pattern:
Month
ITAs Issued
July
25,125
August
10,384
September
5,911
October
5,961
This decline in monthly ITA counts points to a more selective approach from IRCC, aimed at inviting high-caliber candidates who meet Canada’s specific economic needs.
Distribution of CRS Scores in the Express Entry Pool
The CRS score distribution in the pool as of October 22, 2024, is as follows:
CRS Score Range
Number of Candidates
0-300
5,462
301-350
22,928
351-400
51,048
...
...
601-1200
124
The data shows that most candidates fall within the 351-400 range, while competitive scores (471-480 and 481-490) contain a significant number of applicants.
Key Recommendations for Express Entry Candidates
Enhance Language Proficiency: Improving language test scores in English or French can be a significant advantage. French-speaking applicants may qualify for specific draws aimed at bilingual skills.
Consider Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs): PNPs can add up to 600 points to your CRS, making them highly valuable.
Seek Expert Advice: Consulting with Canada immigration experts can provide tailored guidance on improving qualifications and CRS scores.
Alternative Pathways for Skilled Immigrants
For those interested in options beyond Canada, Australia and Germany offer competitive PR processes as well.
Australia PR Process: Australia’s Global Talent Stream and skilled worker programs offer similar pathways for immigrants.
Germany PR Process: Germany also has skilled worker programs to attract qualified professionals, making it another viable option.
Conclusion
The Express Entry system continues to evolve, reflecting Canada’s labor market needs and prioritizing high-skilled candidates. By focusing on CRS score improvements, PNP nominations, and language proficiency, candidates can improve their chances of receiving an ITA. Skilled immigrants may also consider opportunities in Australia and Germany as alternatives.

1. Introduction: Canada’s Immigration Landscape
Canada is known for its welcoming immigration policies, and the country continues to refine its immigration system to attract skilled workers, students, and those seeking permanent residence. The Express Entry system plays a central role in Canada's immigration framework, allowing individuals to apply for permanent residency (PR) through three major streams: Canadian Experience Class (CEC), Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), and Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP). Additionally, Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates are also invited to apply through the Express Entry system.
If you're looking to immigrate to Canada, keeping track of the latest Express Entry draw results and immigration trends is crucial. Here’s an overview of the most recent developments and trends in Canada’s immigration system.
2. Recent Express Entry Draws Overview
Provincial Nominee Program Draw (December 2, 2024) In the latest Express Entry draw held on December 2, 2024, the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) stream was prioritized. A total of 676 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) were issued. To be considered for this draw, candidates needed a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 705.
This draw is part of the ongoing trend of selecting candidates under the PNP stream, which targets individuals who have already received a provincial nomination. Since a provincial nomination adds a significant 600 points to a candidate's CRS score, these draws tend to have higher cutoffs compared to other Express Entry categories.
Key Stats from November 2024 November saw six Express Entry draws, with a total of 5,507 ITAs issued for permanent residence. Most of these draws targeted candidates from the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) and PNP streams, which have seen consistent draws throughout the year.
November 20, 2024: Healthcare occupations draw (3,000 ITAs, CRS minimum 463)
November 19, 2024: Canadian Experience Class (400 ITAs, CRS minimum 539)
November 18, 2024: Provincial Nominee Program (174 ITAs, CRS minimum 816)
November 15, 2024: French language proficiency (800 ITAs, CRS minimum 478)
These figures show that the Canadian immigration system remains highly active, offering various pathways for skilled professionals to immigrate.
3. Key Trends in Canada Immigration
Focus on Canadian Experience Class (CEC) and PNP Candidates
CEC and PNP candidates have been consistently targeted in Express Entry draws, reflecting Canada's focus on retaining talent that has Canadian work experience or is already integrated into Canadian society.
"In-Canada" Focus Category: What’s Coming in 2025?
In 2025, Canada is expected to introduce a new “In-Canada” focus category. This will specifically target candidates from the CEC and other regional programs. Candidates from the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) and Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) may also be included. The establishment of this new category signals Canada's intent to prioritize those who have already lived and worked in the country, aligning with labor market needs.
French Language Proficiency and Increased ITAs in 2025
Canada is also enhancing its Francophone immigration strategy, which will see an increase in ITAs for candidates with strong French language proficiency, especially for those outside of Quebec. The allocation of PR admissions for French speakers outside Quebec is set to rise to 29,235 in 2025. This is part of Canada's plan to attract more French-speaking immigrants to help meet the demand for bilingual workers across the country.

5. What is Express Entry and How Does It Work?
Express Entry is Canada’s immigration management system for three main federal immigration programs: the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), and Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP). Express Entry operates on a points-based system called the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS).
The CRS scores candidates based on factors like:
Age
Education
Language proficiency
Work experience
Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria for one of the programs and create an online profile are ranked based on their CRS score. High-ranking candidates are invited to apply for permanent residency in regular Express Entry draws.
6. How Can You Improve Your CRS Score?
If you’re aiming to improve your CRS score, consider the following strategies:
Improve your language skills (English or French) to earn more points.
Gain more work experience, particularly in a high-demand occupation.
Obtain a provincial nomination, which adds 600 points to your CRS score.
Study in Canada, as Canadian educational credentials can add valuable points.

As of 19 September 2024 (the last draw considered for the tally), IRCC has offered 84,874 Invitations to Apply for Canada PR Visa compared to the 81,948 ITAs offered in 2023 as of September 20.
One noteworthy fact is that the allocation of newcomers under the Express Entry System has been increased from 2023 to 2024. This is as per the Immigration Levels Plan for 2024 to 2026. Meanwhile, if you are keen to move to Canada in 2024, it is essential that you check PR eligibility for Canada.
The allocation of skilled immigrants under Express Entry in 2023 was 82,800. It has been increased to 110,770 skilled immigrants for the year 2024.
Number of Express Entry draws in 2024 compared with 2023
IRCC has so far conducted 37 draws in the Express Entry System across 9 diverse streams and categories. The average of ITAs allocated in these draws is 2,294 while this is highly variable based on the stream or category under consideration.

The disparity in the number of draws conducted is partially owing to the landmark July in the Express Entry System in 2024 as IRCC conducted 9 draws. This was the highest number of draws held in one month so far after the launch of Express Entry in 2015.
The selection draws based on categories in Express Entry were launched by IRCC in 2023. This policy allows it to specifically target candidates that fulfill the nation’s demographic and economic needs.
IRCC has offered more number of ITAs in 2024 so far in comparison with the same period in 2023. However, a deeper assessment of the data will reveal interesting insights.
Category-based Selection Draws
IRCC adopted the selection draws based on categories to choose specific candidates through the Express Entry System. It is possible to offer ITAs to candidates by offering more value to their unique human capital factors rather than only their score in the Canada CRS score calculator. These can be their language proficiency or work experience.
At present, the following categories exist in Express Entry:
·  STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Occupations
·  Healthcare Occupations
 · Trade Occupations
·  Agriculture and Agri-food Occupations
· Transport Occupations
·  Proficiency in French language

You must note that there is a steep rise in the number of draws held under CEC and PNP under Express Entry after May and June 2024. This is after the statement from Marc Miller the Immigration Minister to conduct increased numbers of draws domestically for candidates in Express Entry.
A total of 4 draws under PNP and nil under CEC were conducted in Express Entry in 2023. On the other hand, so far in 2024, 6 draws in CEC and 8 in PNP have been already held. The enhanced prominence of the category French Language Proficiency also has to be noted.
