People is mean and love to negate abuse on people they dont like, sadly. It very easy for people to ignore abuse onto women, like, they always do It in reality, so imagine with fictional characters.
I've seen that negation of Daisy's SA too, and I've seen It exclusively on Camila stans on Twitter/ X 🙄.
Thankfully Djats stans , of both Daisy and Camila respectively, here on Tumblr are healthier, tbh.
To me Daisy Its the perfect example of Adult who was a SA teen survivor... She follows most ✓ of the Adult consequences according to psychologists, shout out to one of my friends, Loli, who has studied psychology, and whom i consulted once about an original character i'm writing about who is a SA survivor too, to write her realistically .
Anyways , here IS the list :
High risk of drugs use or drugs use ✓
Big amount of (unsatisfying) sex ✓ :
1- the Guy she "was with" and she was so bored while "going at It"... that she started to write a song while being fucked - On a curious note , the Guy she was bored to be with was played by Riley's husband on the show XD , his name is Ben Smith- Petersen and he is a hottie, with capital H...good for her!!
2- The boredom face she had in the scene while being in bed having sex with Nicky.
Or ...the polar opposite :
• Not wanting to be touched (by men) at all ✓ : When Daisy dumps Nicky she rejects the boys attempt to comfort her and only lets Karen touch/hug her.
• Inestability ✓ shown with things like :
Getting late everywhere✓✓ , as It IS "the manifestation of the inability to plan ahead in time", ✓ and a lack of empathy towards those who has to Wait for you...
Which relate to ... "general lack of empathy towards the others" ✓ : she has a whole ass affair with a married man with a daughter, if thats not a lack of empathy..." .
The lose of time and the lack social perception awareness are great sympthoms of psychological issues such as deppression or even suicidal thoughts...✓
• Damaged self-steem✓ :
Like, if i had a coworker Who always undermined my work, talked shit to me , called me "Headcase" and didn't admit my value...You better bet i would fucking go ballistic against him... As much as i like Billy, he had It easy with Daisy, if i were Daisy, aka "The golden It girl Who makes money" for the discographic...
Well, I would've done everything in my power to get Billy fucked by the discographic's bosses, which wouldn't have been difficult, as they already loathed him anyways for his issues, that in the past made them lose money- and I would've either threatened with leaving the band or gotten his ass fucking fired if he didn't apologize publicly and properly on the news for being AN asshole with me/Daisy, someone Who actually only did the job she got told to do... by Teddy, no less!!! The one Who was supposedly the only person who kept having "faith" on Billy from the entire music industry...
Personal note : I take no shit of anyone no more, ever since the end of high school...And i'm happier than ever tbh. But that requires lots of self work , introspection, good self-steem and loving yourself, which Daisy doesn't at all , while I do, (love myself I mean).
Anyways returning to Daisy...That Damaged self steem usually results in :
• The People (men) pleasing ✓ tendencies, to feel better with herself, that result in men taking advantage of her :
1- the ex Who stole her song,
2- the writer Who uses her as muse,
3 - Motherfucking Nicky
And, even (controversial opinion coming)...
I kind of think Billy used Daisy too :
He doesn't want to admit her value for his ego: the fact that a girl, with only one of her songs , one that was a better versión of his song "Look at us Now" got more success and money than him.. with his entire barely succesfull album and tour (that Got him alcoholic and almost ruined his marriage and life anyways), and all that must have been truly humiliating for his man ego, like even Camila- his wife mind you- admited It :
While At the party at their House, when Daisy is running away after fighting Billy, Camila chases after Daisy, and tells her She wants her in the party and "We wouldn't have this (the House the money the success) if It werent for you" XD which, by the way and to some extent...
Camila also "uses" her , she manipulates her so that Daisy stay in the band... and she (Camila) can have expensive nice things like the luxury clothes we see her sporting later...That she wouldn't have had if It werent for Daisy's music talent. The six were only mildly succesfull and were banned by music industry, by Billy's past alcoholism, than wasn't understood at all back then in the 70's. The discographic hated them as a result, they were screwed basically, until Teddy gave them another chance, but their chance was Only possible though a fresh face (like Daisy) joining them... The Six got a career thanks to Daisy, not the other way, you all. She would have gotten there eventually without the band, the band wouldn't have gotten there without her...
Only It all backfired epically against everyone , both Camila and the others , with the whole Daisily affair later and the band self-collapse.
Djats was a very complex show, with very messed and very complex characters, no one was a Saint there, and that was what I loved about It. Trying to make this story simple, with pairings wars, and denying the obvious (Daisy's SA and Its consequences) is just absurd.
All of that its just my love letter to Daisy and to be fair with Daisy , Who even with her impulsive tendencies, you all got to admit she was an abuse víctim, and people overlook that too much.
She deserved better, but as she didn't get It , she messed with everyone in the way...And they all deserved It one way or another tbh.
Shout out to Riley Keough too, Who was the perfect Daisy (my fancast in fact) and Who played her perfectly.
hi! okay massiage massive TW for SA go forth with caution.
i think as a DJATS fandom (do we have a name) we forget daisy was raped??? as a teen??? i can’t remember the episode number but she was locked in this hotel room with the man at this event. like why did we skim over that? she was like,15? like i know it was brushed over on the show but i feel like the whole fandom forget, anyway i just needed to rant
it actually makes me sick how people just brush over it and pretend it never happened because i feel like it also explains away a lot of daisys behaviours later on down the line!! daisy's past most definitely effects her during The Six era and i feel like if she had gotten the support she had needed from the very beginning, there are so many things that might have been different! anyway, i'm rambling, but lmk your thoughts!! <3
#djats#daisy jones and the six#daisy jones#Tw: alcoholism#Agree#tw: sa#billy dunne#camila dunne#Everyone used Daisy for their benefit#Only as she was the way she was...It bit them all in their asses later#They kinda deserved getting messed by Daisy Its Only Fair if you use someone that they repay you with the same...just saying🤷♀️💁♀️#That Daisy got to be the GOAT of the band to be the Taylor Swift/Stevie Nicks at djats show was chefs kiss perfection 💯#It was better than in book -a singer just doesn't stop for a 💔 If anything they keep singing to avenge themselves#Like#Stevie Nicks#Taylor Swift#Shakira#Florence Welch#Olivia Rodrigo....#If you break a singer's Heart then you deserve a bitchy rad album about how much you suck...Its called Karma#Also Karen was succesfull too...Im so proud of my Girls...about the band loser Boys... Those losers at least are healthy? XD#Tw : drug addiction#I probably missed more Tw...sorry for that#Riley Keough#I love her ❤️#Also kudos to Loli for bearing with my endless questions about psychology XD#Viva Loli!!!#Ben Smith-Petersen

Silver Springs
Eddie Roundtree x Fem!Reader
✧.* requested by @navia3000 — hi hi hi!!! i’m OBSESSED with your writing and i was wondering if you could write an eddie x reader story for me! i thought of this in the shower, but basically, reader is the bassist of the band and has been in love with eddie for a long time, but eddie is in love with camila. everyone knows she’s madly in love with him, but he doesn’t seem to realize it. after cami and eddie get together that one night at the bar, and then when they’re talking at the party, reader overhears the whole thing and is really upset because camila and her are very close and she knew that reader loved eddie. camila walks back to the party but sees reader standing there and realizes she heard everything. reader gets mad and stops talking to both eddie and cami, just ignoring them every time they’re around. it gets to the point where cami gets fed up and says some mean stuff to reader about eddie not wanting her in front of everyone else. reader packs her stuff and leaves the band without saying anything, basically just pulls a houdini. some time later, the band is at a festival and the band performing before them is the reader’s and she’s the lead singer, and they realize it’s her and are like omg. reader sings her hit song silver springs (og by fleetwood mac but im pretending its reader’s song) and it’s obvi about eddie. she sings it while staring at him just like stevie does lindsey. and you can end it however you want. i know this is really long and im sorry 😭 i just love your writing and wanna see how you do this. thank youuuu :))
✧.* summary — a fic based on Silver Springs by fleetwood mac
✧.* warnings — Camila being a jerk :(((
✧.* word count — 3.2k
✧.* 🎸 — Eddie's masterlist
✧.* mandy's notes — This was soooo fun to write, I'm just obsessed with this song
Love is fucked up, and you were living the worst of it since you fell in love with Eddie Roundtree. Of course, it's not about every type of love, but you knew very well that there is nothing as painful as unreciprocated love. It was like being slowly consumed by a feeling that will always be there, and there's nothing you can do to make it stop.
When you guys decided to move to follow the band's dream, it wasn't an easy decision, you were scared to death that you were making the wrong decision but there was comfort in doing it with those you were close to. Now that you were having the chance to create a new album, you felt like it was time for you to grow up in a big way.
The work had been difficult, you spent a lot of time in the studio recording again and again, and only being done when it was perfect. And despite the regrets, you knew that everything was heading towards what you were going to and were living. There is something that was addictive about work, it made you forget about the disaster surrounding your love life, you felt pathetic for futilely insisting on a feeling that had no direction or departure.
You felt yourself falling in love with Eddie when you guys moved to the new town, despite your time performing gigs and also with other gigs out there, you still spent a lot of time together, something that was enough to make you fall in love with him. He was always very kind and understanding with you, even more so when you missed home a lot, slowly as you became closer to each other you couldn't help your feelings anymore… something you just hated.
Everyone knew that he was deeply in love with Camila, including yourself. You knew that when your heart started beating faster everytime he passed by or talked to you, there were several times you tried to hold every feeling back, knowing that it would only lead to heartbreak.
As everyone knew about Eddie's feelings towards Camila, slowly everyone noticed your feelings towards him. Of course there were jokes and teasing (even more coming from Rojas), but it slowly became an unspoken topic that everyone knew but no one said a thing. And you honestly appreciate it!
You had no idea if Eddie knew about it, and you hoped he never did. Because even if you didn't have any hope, or at least tried not to, you wanted to deprive yourself of the look full of pity coming from someone who doesn't feel the same way. Looking to escape all your thoughts, you spent many more hours than necessary in the studio working late, and today was no different.
“God! You're still here?” Daisy says as she opens the studio door, a cigarette hovering on her lips.
“I have a lot to do.” You say shrugging, while giving her a small smile.
“No she doesn't.” You are startled a little when you hear Karen's voice behind you, turning slightly to see her blonde hair.
“Is this some kind of intervention?” Your laugh came out nervously, they look at each other.
“Well, maybe?” Jones gets closer to you, you can smell the cigarettes on her clothes.
“You're working like a dog, so we thought you could come with us to a party?” Karen suggests, her eyes showing her eager for you to agree.
“I don't know guys…” You scribble some things in your notebook, nothing specific other than lines and circles.
“Come on!” Karen holds one of your hands to help you up. “Just try it, I promise that if you don't like it Daisy will take you home.”
“Oh, I will?” Daisy looks at her, you can't help but laugh when you see Karen giving her a threatening look. “Yeah, of course I will.”
You see no escape, so you soon find yourself among a considerable number of people wearing your favorite dress. Karen had been called by a boy to talk better, you hadn't noticed who it was but you knew where she was in case it took too long and you got worried, Daisy was lying on a sun chair around the pool talking to a group of people you had no idea who they were, and you, as expected, were standing there waiting for something interesting to happen.
With your half-full glass in hand, you approach the chairs looking to sit somewhere, your steps stop when you see a familiar figure you blink a few times to make sure you were right, and after a few blinks you confirm that Eddie was there too. Having been alone for a long time and bearing in mind that you wouldn't have company anytime soon, you decide to go to him.
As you make your way into the crowd you see him getting up, you frown trying to get a look at where the hell he was heading to. After a few attempts, bumping into some people and a couple of "I'm sorry" to those who had been pushed past you, you are amazed at what you find. It was unusual to see Camila leaving the house for a party, especially alone, you were immediately surprised, looking around to see if other band members were around.
Well, it wasn't the worst case scenario! At least now you have more company to spend the night with, you continue but immediately notice a different air between them. Your body weakens and your heart races, he gets closer to her and she doesn't step back, you can't help but wonder what the fuck was going on so you decide to sit near them and try your best to hear them.
“Wow, you chose me over sure thing like that?” You barely hear Camila's voice among the others.
“I'll choose you over everyone.” Your heart hurts on your chest, you felt sad.
The silence between them is all you hear even with the noise around you, you turn to see what was happening and bitterly regret what your eyes found. Camila holds Roundtree's face gently, her shaking hands indicated apparent nervousness and her fingers didn't show firmness, she was kissing him.
You couldn't believe what your eyes were showing you, your friend forever was kissing the man you were in love with. It was more than a pain, it was a deep betrayal. You didn't give a shit about the fact that Billy was also being betrayed, he had already done worse to her, but you... She knew your feelings, nothing could justify what your eyes witnessed.
You quickly grab your bag, not bothering to tell Daisy or Karen that you were leaving, you just wanted to disappear.
Knowing that you would eventually have to see Eddie if you returned home, you decide to go to any 24-hour establishment, any place where you could get your head around work in peace. Maybe it was raw feelings, or just lack of attention, but you didn't care if disappearing caused a fuss among your friends. If it were up to you, a complete song would be created that night out of all your frustrations.
…
When Eddie opened the doors to the house he was surprised to see the lights on, Karen was on the sofa with her hands in her hair and her legs kept moving up and down. He frowns and gives a questioning look to Warren who was eating a banana in the corner of the room, he just takes a deep breath and doesn't give another answer.
“I swear to God, if she's not having sex right she better have a good excuse to just disappear!” Karen utters, Graham puts one of his hands on her back as comfort.
“What the fuck is going on?” Roundtre asks, a little bit worried.
“Y/N, Daisy and I went to a party and she just vanished.” Sirko's blonde locks got messy as she frantically ran her hands through it.
“What?” Eddie widens his eyes, worried. "You left her alone?"
“Are you going to keep throwing things in my face? I know I fucked up, alright.”
“I think we all should take a rest, it's late.” Graham says.
“Yeah, and besides… I'm pretty sure she'll be back tomorrow.” Rojas tries to comfort everyone, and after a while he manages to get them all a little bit more calm.
…
You were a mess, your hair was a mess, your papers spread across the table were a mess and you didn't even want to look at your face. But you had a song made, lyrics complete, rhythm organized and the guitar and bass part was done, and even with a lot of anguish, you were proud of your work.
You quickly stuff the papers into your backpack, and order a taxi to the house you shared with the band, knowing that you would be scolded for disappearing last night. But honestly, all you wanted was to forget what happened.
“I'm gonna kill you.” You hear Karen's voice and Immediately let out a long breath, she stops when she sees your face. “Bloody hell you look horrible.”
“Thank you very much” You roll your eyes, trying to pass by her, he holds your arm.
“What happened?” You can see she was worried, but you felt pathetic just thinking about saying any of this out loud.
“I can't say it.”
“Bullshit!” She crosses her arms and stops in front of you, preventing you from going forward.
“Fine, I don't want to say it.”
“Where were you yesterday?” She tries once more.
“Writing.”
“You left in the middle of the party to write?” Karen arches her eyebrows, in disbelief. “Without any extra reasons?”
You see Camila approaching, and it takes a lot for you not to cry when you see the person you trusted who had broken your heart so easily. You avoid her eyes, wiping away the tears that escaped.
“Look, I don't want to cause any fuss.” Your voice was choked, your gaze fixed on your foot.
“Karen called me worried yesterday, what happened? Where were you?" Camila comes with her calm voice, you feel a disappointment growing in your core.
“I left, alright?” You say louder than you expected, closing your eyes to take a deep breath. “And I'm leaving.”
“Who's leaving?” Warren's voice comes behind you, he joins everyone. “Hey Y/N, you good?”
“Not really, no.” You give him a small smile, he for sure would be one of the things that made this harder. “I'm quitting the band.”
“What?” They all say together, you swallow hard.
“Why?” Karen was shocked, in disbelief.
“I love you guys so much.” You say between tears, taking a while to pull yourself together. “But I only get hurt lately, and I need time to heal.”
“Who's hurting you?” Warren says in defence. “I'll kick their ass!”
You let out a laugh, “I don't want to cause a mess between you guys, I'm just going to pack my things and go.”
“I don't get it.” Karen says, so lost.
“Just be honest with us.” Camila asks.
“Look, it's fine.” You shrug, holding your bag close to you. “Just like I said, I don't want scandal.”
“You're being ridiculous.” Sirko let's out, frustrated.
“Can I talk to you for a sec?” Camila asks, nodding towards the balcony, you go with her. “What's happening to you?"
“I saw what you did yesterday." Your voice became more choked, you tried hard not to cry. “How could you?”
“What are you talking about?” You can see that she is taken by surprise.
“I saw you kissing Eddie yesterday.” Your vision is blurry with tears. “Why?”
“Look, let's not over react this…” Her voice is lower now, as if trying her best to avoid any attention.
“How on earth am I overreacting?” Slowly you got mad, trying to hold back all your emotions. “All this years I told you how I felt about him, how I bad I felt and yet you… you still did it.”
“Y/N, that's no reason to leave the band.” She avoids the subject. “They need a bass player, you can't just leave when they're recording an album…”
“No fucking reason?” You were shocked, your heart racing. “You don't even care about me, you're worried about the band.”
“Stop being like that.” She rolls her eyes. “It's been years of this, he doesn't like you. I know I did wrong but not with you, with my husband…”
“You think that what you did with me was not a betrayal?”
“I honestly don't think so.” She laughs, and that sents you. “He doesn't feel a thing about you, maybe it's time for you to get over it.”
You cry, your chest hurts. “I'm leaving.”
You turn to leave, knowing that your conversation has been heard by the others when you are met with pitying eyes.
…
You said you would and you did, you left there and only kept in touch with Karen after a few months of leaving. Little by little you got good opportunities, and over time you joined a band that was having great success.
Your song 'Silver Springs' had been written on one of the most troubled nights of your life and had now become your ticket to glorious days like this one. Festivals were your favorite days, you just loved to feel the audience's energy and sing along with them.
But besides loving all of this, today was being chaotic… You knew you went on stage in a few minutes and your guitar player was extremely drunk, you were furious and extremely nervous.
“Oh my God!” The British accent said each word slowly, you turned to see your ex bandmate with a wide smile heading towards you. “You look amazing! It's been so long.”
You go to her hugging her for a while, after some usual questions like "how have you been?" "How are the others?" "Any news?" She looks into your eyes with her eyebrows showing concern.
“Is everything alright?” She asks.
“Not actually, our guitar player fucked up.” Your voice was filled with nerves. “And we're up soon, I don't know what to do! He is the only one who can actually sing and—
“I could help.” You jump when you hear Eddie's voice behind you, you're body reacting weirdly at the sight of him after so long.
“Hearing our conversations?” You try to hide your small smile. “I see you didn't change, uh.”
“Not a bit.” He gives you a smile and you remember why you fell for him in the first place. “So, what do you say?”
“Do you really know the song?” You wanted to hide the way your body automatically wanted to go to him.
“You kidding me?” He jokes, adjusting his collar. “Everyone knows this song, it's amazing.”
“I'd love your help Eddie, thank you!” Somehow you feel peace between you two.
…
You feel the lights on your skin as you get yourself ready, amidst the expectant hush of the gathered crowd, the first haunting notes of "Silver Springs" begin to weave through the air. You get to the center of the stage, paying attention to the audience as you let the notes lead you, your presence commanding and vulnerable all at once. Opposite you, Eddie Roundtree appears—a silent sentinel, yet a potent source of the tension that fills the space between you.
The audience goes crazy, everyone knew the rumors about your song and what has inspired you. There was a huge controversy about the release of this song right after you left Daisy Jones and The Six, so when they all see Eddie Roundtree by your side to play it was for sure a fact to cheer for.
As your voice rises, imbued with a raw, piercing emotion, the air seems to thicken. Each word you sing, a testament to love lost and the pain of what could have been, hangs heavy in the atmosphere. Somehow you remember ‘Regret Me’ and how Daisy let out her feelings in the lyrics, you felt connected to her even though you left. Eddie's gaze, intense and unwavering, meets yours. It's a look that speaks volumes, a silent dialogue that only those who have loved and lost can fully comprehend.
You feel the audience’s attention, and your heart softens as you hear their voices sing along with you. As the song goes on, its lyrics casting spells of everything you once felt for the man by your side, the connection between you and Eddie becomes palpable, almost a living thing that reaches out and enfolds every heart in the venue.
With every verse, the space between you seems both to widen and to shrink, a paradox that only deepens the allure of your interaction. It's as if the song is a bridge you're both building back to a moment lost in time, laden with all the things left unsaid. The air vibrates with the tension of the unspoken, the weight of history that both separates and binds you two. It's a tension that speaks to the heartache of love's aftermath, the beauty of art born from pain.
You see in Eddie's eyes curiosity and at the same time regret, you consider looking away, but once you connect like that it is impossible for you to look away. It was like letting your souls show, and dance together. You approach him without taking your eyes off at any time, he accompanies you to the music feeling tense.
As the song reaches its crescendo, a silent conversation occurs in the span of a few heartbeats. It's a moment of vulnerability and power, a clash of emotions that spills over into the audience, leaving an indelible mark on the collective consciousness of the crowd. The applause that follows is thunderous, not just for the technical brilliance of the performance, but for the courage it took to bare such raw emotions in the full view of the world.
“Thank you so much ladies and gentlemen! I hope you enjoyed our show and have an amazing time with my friends… everyone, please welcome Daisy Jones and The Six"
You leave the stage accompanied by your band, you imagined that Eddie would stay on stage to save time, but the touch on your shoulder that makes you turn around tells you no.
“Hey, can we talk?” Eddie says, you can sense his tension.
“But, you guys are up next.” You point to the other band members arranging their instruments.
“I just, I wanted to know…” He holds back, trying to figure out what to say. “I just wanted to know if you still… if you still feel the same way about me.”
You swallow hard, “Do we really have to talk about this?”
“You know I didn't mean to hurt you.” You avoid his eyes. “I really didn't.”
“It's okay, we don't have to talk about it.”
“But I do want to, this song is…”
“Eddie, it's the truth.” You didn't know how to say this in another way. “I was hurt, and I guess I did a good job, because I'm sure you'll never forget the sound of me.”
He avoids your eyes, letting out a chuckle. “Do you think we can be friends?”
“I don't think I'm ready for that.” You say honestly, his eyes, despite being sad, seem to show understanding. “But maybe we'll meet again someday.”
“I really hope so.” He whispers.
“Hey brother, we gotta go.” Warren calls out for Eddie, turning to you. “You guys nailed it up there.” You murmur to him a “thank you.”
“Good-bye guys.” You say goodbye, leaving Eddie with just the sound of your love.

Always Choose You - Eddie Roundtree x Female Reader
Summary: You and Eddie were never meant to be more than a fling. So, why did you both keep coming back?
Includes: implied sex, alcohol and drug use, adult language
Note: The bolded names followed by a colon represent interview dialogue like from in the book.
The first time you met Eddie was at some gig he played with The Six. It was before Look At Us Now had blown up and they’d flown to stardom. No, you met him back in the days of small clubs on the Strip.
The band had just finished playing, you’d had a few drinks (and therefore some liquid courage in your blood), and you went for it. As soon as the cute bassist headed to the bar himself, you sauntered over.
“You were great up there. I’ve always wanted to play music like that.” You smiled and slid into the seat next to him.
He returned your grin and took a sip of his drink. “Ah thanks, we’ve been at it for a while now. I’m Eddie, by the way.”
“Pleasure to meet you, Eddie. I’m Y/N. Have you all been in town long, I can’t say I’ve seen you play before.”
He shook his head. “We’re from Pittsburgh. Kind of took a leap of faith coming down here, but I think we’re all happy we did it.”
You noticed as he glanced quickly over at the side of the bar. The singer of his band was talking with a beautiful brunette, but you could tell he was more focused on the girl than his friend. He looked back to you after almost a split second though, and you were almost convinced you made it up.
“Well, cheers to your success, I’m glad it’s working out for you guys.” You chuckled and clinked your glass with his.
You and Eddie flirted a bit more, drank a bit more, and at the end of the night he climbed into a taxi with you. Your roommate was out for the weekend, so you had an empty apartment and a hot guy at the ready. A nice one night stand could be just what you needed.
————————
It never occurred to you that you’d see him again. Hell, you’d practically forgotten him after all that time had passed. Not that the two of you didn’t have a great night together, you were just both a little drunk and it was just once, so it never really crossed your mind.
But then here you were, at a party for your roommate’s friend. She hadn’t told you much detail about the party, just that her friend Camila was hosting a housewarming party of sorts and she wanted you to come along as her guest. It gave you an excuse to get dressed up and it sounded fun, so you agreed without much thought.
Your roommate, Sarah, introduced you to Camila and her husband Billy when you first arrived. Something seemed vaguely familiar about them, but you figured it was just because Billy’s band was famous and there was buzz about them everywhere. Still, you felt like maybe there was something else about them. As Camila and Sarah got caught up in conversation, you politely excused yourself to go grab a drink.
The house was full of people and you felt slightly like you were in a maze. Luckily, you wove your way to the bar area and were able to acquire a beer.
You decided the next stop should be the patio out back. It was getting a little stuffy and some fresh air sounded perfect. You were on your way to the back door when someone stumbled into you from behind.
“Oh shit, my bad.” The man said immediately.
You turned and gave him a small smile. “It’s all good, no worries.”
“Jesus Warren, I leave you alone for like five minutes and you’re already stumbling around aimlessly,” a familiar voice chuckled as another man strolled up beside him.
Holy fuck. As you glanced over at his friend, you realized you knew this guy. This was that bar guy from God knows how long ago.
It looked like said guy was having the same realization, or at least some kind of epiphany. His eyes narrowed slightly as he turned to really look at you.
“I think I know you from somewhere.” He muttered.
Eddie: Okay, I know it sounds bad, but I promise I didn’t forget about her. It had been a long time. Besides, apparently she couldn’t even remember my name, so we were both a little drunk that night.
Warren: I was high as shit, and I could definitely tell he didn’t recognize her. It’s funny to think about that now, God I can’t even imagine.
His friend-Warren- elbowed him with a laugh. “You can’t pick up chicks with that cheesy ass line, brother. No one is gonna fall for that shit.”
You kind of wished you had some of whatever this guy was on because he was clearly high as a kite and having a grand old time.
“Oh, I don’t know.” You let out a quiet, nervous laugh. You weren’t about to explain that you two had fucked and never spoken again once like a year or so ago.
“No, we have met before…” He trailed off in thought, but then his eyebrows shot up as it clicked. “Did you hang around the Sunset Strip by any chance?”
You downed what was left of your drink and nodded. “Yeah, I used to. I think you’ve put that together, though. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to grab another of these.” You held up the empty bottle and spun on your heel.
Thankfully, the house had several exits, so you were able to grab your beer and slip out back unnoticed. Well, at least you thought you were.
“Hey, can I talk to you?”
Bar guy came up beside you and gestured to the empty seat beside you. You felt like shit for this, but you couldn’t remember his name. Fred, maybe? God, you didn’t sleep around that much, you should be able to keep track of this.
“Sure,” You shrugged. You do remember him being a nice guy, so you weren’t opposed to hearing him out.
He hesitantly sat down. “Listen, I feel like I should apologize. I’m sorry it took me a minute to recognize you, and…well, I’m sorry I kind of disappeared from your place right after we…” His voice started trailing off when you started chuckling. “What’s funny?”
You felt your face flush and you waved a hand. “No, no, it’s not you, I promise. You really don’t have to apologize for anything, that’s why I was laughing. We slept together after I met you at a bar, I didn’t exactly expect us to grow old together.”
He was chuckling now too. “Yeah, I guess you’re right. I just didn’t want you to think I was an ass or something. Can we start over?”
“Y/N. It’s nice to meet you.” You smiled and held out your hand for him to shake.
“Eddie, and likewise.”
Eddie! So you were kind of close earlier. Truth be told though, this was one of the weirdest encounters with a hookup that you’d ever had. Normally, you wouldn’t dream of interacting with someone afterwards, but something about this guy was different. You kind of liked talking to him, and you remember feeling like that the first time you met him too.
————————
You woke up in a room that was definitely not yours, which caused a little bolt of panic to shoot through you. It only took a second for it to all come flooding, thankfully.
Somehow, you had decided it was a good idea to go home with Eddie last night. Again. That definitely was not in your plan. You weren’t in the habit of dragging out one night stands, but it looks like you had a repeat. You two wound up hanging out for most of the party last night, and you were talking, then you were kissing, and now you were here. But God, was he a good repeat. To be honest, when you snuck a glance down at his sleeping face beside you, all you could think about was that he was kind of beautiful.
A knocking came from the door and it nearly startled you out of bed.
“Eddie! We gotta leave for the studio, man! Billy wants us there in an hour!”
You looked down and realized you were bare ass naked, and immediately lunged for your clothes. You weren’t sure if Eddie’s roommate would just barge in, but you were not about to be caught naked if he did. Immediate relief flooded through you as you pulled on your dress and heard footsteps as the guy walked away from the door, but you were mostly amazed by the fact that none of this had actually woken Eddie.
This was actually kind of worse. Now you had to make a choice. Did you leave unnoticed or did you wake him up and face the morning after conversation. You really didn’t want to talk. You hooked up once and then again, it was a weird string of events that you couldn’t hash out right now. Unfortunately, he showed no signs of waking up and you’d feel really bad if he was late to his band thing.
With a sigh you stepped over to the bed and shook his shoulder gently. Then you shook it a little less gently. This man could sleep through a fucking tornado.
Finally, he sat up and rubbed his face. “Hmm? Oh, mornin’...”
You quickly wiped off the tiny smile that threatened to overtake your face. Thinking he looked cute, all sleepy in the morning, was not a road you needed to go down. “Hey, your friend just knocked and said Billy wants you at the studio in an hour. You seemed pretty out of it, so I just wanted to let you know before I left.”
He muttered something about “he’s such an asshole” under his breath before looking back up at you. “Thanks, I appreciate it.”
“Yeah, no problem,” You nodded as nonchalantly as possible. “Well, I’m going to head out now. Um, thanks…for last night.”
The second the words left your mouth, you knew how stupid it all sounded. You used to be pretty smooth, but apparently that was temporary. You had to get out of there before you made it worse. You grabbed your purse and strode hurriedly for the door, but before you were outside, Eddie shouted.
“Hey, wait!”
You looked back over your shoulder at him as he pulled on a pair of flannel pajama bottoms and started over to you. “Yeah?”
“Listen, um, I had fun last night. And I like you.” He combed a hand through his wild hair.
He looked like he wanted to keep going, but you cut him off first. “I’m not really looking for a relationship.” You blurted the words before you could think, and they left a curiously bitter taste in your mouth.
He looked mildly surprised at the outburst, but then shook his head. “I’m not either, actually. Honestly, I’m kind of getting over someone else right now. Stop me if I’m out of line here, but I was wondering if you might want to do this again sometime. All I’m saying is I had fun, and if you had fun too, then could I get your number? I promise I’m not proposing we grow old together here.”
You chuckled at his reference to your conversation last night. You had to agree with him. Last night was good, and the thought of seeing him again was something you didn’t hate.
Y/N: I can’t believe I’m actually admitting to this, but yes he became my, oh what is it people say now? My sneaky link? Friends with benefits? Whatever, the point is we kept seeing each other. Just having fun. We were in our 20s and carefree, you know?
————————
You and Eddie kept things casual for a long time. He grew to be one of your closest friends during that time. Yes, it was mainly about the sex for the two of you, but you actually got to know each other well.
Eddie knew things about you that not even your roommate Sarah did. One night he opened up to you about Camila, about how he’d been in love with her for years and that was why he wasn’t looking for something serious. He seemed really vulnerable about it, and you decided to tell him about your cheating ex and why you didn’t want to date either. The two of you formed an odd sort of bond over that, over loving people that had chosen someone else.
Eddie: If I’m being honest, I was lying when I told her about Camila. I told her I was still in love with her, but I hadn’t been for a while. I was just too afraid to admit that maybe I moved on.
Y/N: I was done with it just being a fling at that point. Sure, I was still hurt by what happened, but I think Eddie helped heal that untrusting part of me. I felt ready for a relationship, but I didn’t know where he stood on the matter. I didn’t fess up because it almost felt better to have him in that way, than to not have him in my life anymore.
Karen: They were so obviously in love with each other, I’ll never know how they couldn’t see it in each other. The rest of us definitely could.
Graham: Y/N and Eddie? Yeah, I think the rest of us knew about them before they knew themselves. It was annoying as hell to live with them, I mean especially sharing a wall with Eddie. Warren and I took bets on how long it would take them to actually figure out their shit, and that son of a bitch beat me.
You and Eddie were lovers for almost a year.
Everything changed on a night that seemed so typical. Eddie had showed up at your place, absolutely livid.
“He cut my fucking part from the song! He’s such a fucking asshole!” Eddie slammed the door behind him and flung his coat over the back of the kitchen chair.
You put your book down and hopped up from the couch. “Again? Shit, Eddie, I hate that he keeps doing that to you.” The moment you placed a calming hand to his chest and leaned against his shoulder, you felt him relax beneath your touch.
He sighed and wrapped his arms around you. “I’m sorry I keep showing up here like this. I just get so pissed at him, and it’s like the only place I can think of to go is here.”
“Yeah?” You laughed softly.
He was quiet for a moment. “Yeah,” he said with such finality that you could feel a shift in the room.
The way he was looking at you…like you were something special. Like you were something valuable.
“And why is that, Ed? Why here?” You whispered.
In answer, he leaned down and kissed you. You too had kissed obviously, but this one felt like it meant something different. “Y/N, I’m so fucking in love with you that it’s all I can think about. Even when I’m not thinking about you, I still am. I was so mad at Billy and had to get out of there, and somehow I drove here without even thinking about it. So, yeah, I’m in love with you. I know that wasn’t in the agreement, but I can’t keep going and not tell you this once.”
You could tell he was going to keep rambling, so you decided to muster up the courage and do what you were dying to do. “Eddie!” He stopped and looked at you, visibly anxious. “Eddie, I love you too. I have for so long, and screw the agreement. I want to be with you.”
Eddie’s face lit up and he kissed you again. And again. And then he stopped to why the tears off your cheeks, which you assured him were happy tears.
“God, I should’ve told you sooner.” You chuckled and leaned your head against his chest.
He wrapped his arms around you and kissed the top of your head. “Warren would definitely call you a chicken right now, but I wouldn’t stoop that low.”
Even though he couldn’t see it, you rolled your eyes. “You know, I feel like you kind of did by mentioning it, but I’ll let it slide. Besides, I still thought you had feelings for Camila. I didn’t really think it would ever be me.”
Eddie pulled away slightly so he could look you in the eye. “You know I would always choose you, right? You’re it for me, baby. If you’ll have me, anyways.”
“Always, Eddie, always.”
Y/N Roundtree: We got married like six months after that.
Eddie: I would’ve married her that night, to be honest.

the end of love | daisy jones.
pairing: daisy jones x fem!reader
summary: two weeks after your break up, daisy decides to confront you and ask what's wrong.
warnings: it's the 70s, internalized homophobia, eddie being a bit of a dick, daisy is clean and the band is still together, reader is a lesbian.
a/n: i interpret daisy as a lesbian who deals with compulsive heterosexuality.
word count: 2.4k
breathe in. breathe out. it's just one song. record it all in one go, ignore billy's stupid complaints, and then go home.
well, what used to be home.
“daisy, you ready to go?” she heard teddy ask from the other side of the recording booth. “yeah, i'm fine. let's get this over with.” the redhead said before taking a sip of the glass of cold water she had next to her. she closed her eyes as she felt the liquid make its way through her throat.
breathe in. breathe out. she opened her eyes to find the band and camila next to teddy, all smiling encouragingly at her. daisy was about to smile back when the door to the recording studio opened abruptly. “holy shit, tell me i'm not late.”
oh fuck.
daisy felt like her heart was about to beat out of her chest. why is she here? she was supposed to be in new york, not los angeles.
“y/n! you are kind of late.. hope it was for a good reason.” warren said with a wink “tell me the guy at least fucks good.” the drummer added while wiggling his eyebrows.
the blue-eyed singer wanted to disappear. she tried to distract herself by playing with the hems of her long-sleeved white shirt. huh, funny. daisy thought. she always loved it when i wore this one.
“yeah, warren. he fucked better than you ever will.” y/n answered, not before rolling her eyes at their friend.
they didn't know y/n didn't fuck any guy last night.
they didn't know y/n would never fuck a guy. ever. they didn't know y/n was late because she didn't know if she could face her ex girlfriend after she told her she was leaving for good. they hadn't seen each other for two weeks, and it was fucking torture for both of them. they had grown so used to always waking up next to each other, cooking together, and doing pretty much everything together, and god did it feel weird to not see each other for longer than a day.
daisy felt like she couldn't breathe when y/n left. she always had to remind herself to breathe in and breathe out. it was as if the girl before her took all the oxygen in the world when she walked out of daisy's front door. right. she remembered bitterly as she felt the fabric of the shirt in her hands.
daisy's front door. daisy's home.
because she refused to move in with her even after three years of secretly seeing each other. she refused to let anyone know about their relationship. not even simone, who is like… them. and daisy understood, she obviously did.
it was dangerous to be one of the world's most famous singers and openly date a woman. openly love a woman. openly say the word lesbian. people would crucify you in the street if they knew you were a homosexual. that was the main reason y/n was scared, she was just a tour photographer who happened to become close with the band and fall in love with daisy on the way. if the world knew she was into women, she would never get another job.
daisy tried to tell her they would be okay, to screw the rest of the world. they loved each other. how could that ever be bad? as far as she knew, love wasn't a bad thing. but maybe she only thought that because she didn't have much experience with it. her parents hated her. men used her. she only has the band, simone, and y/n. had y/n. not anymore.
“daisy!” her name being yelled at her got her out of the trance she was in. “are you going deaf or are you just high as shit?” eddie asked from the microphone.
“she's in recovery, eddie. stop joking about that.” she heard a soft voice she could recognize anywhere snap back at him. “right, sorry.” the bassist said with his hands held up high as a way of showing surrender.
y/n looked at her and they made eye contact for a solid second. daisy gave her a small smile and looked down. “alright, let's get this party started!” warren hollered as daisy put her headphones on to start recording. “okay, the end of love, take one.”
the redhead remembered to breathe as she heard the first notes of the song.
i feel nervous in a way that can't be named.
i dreamt last night of a sign that read, the end of love.
she looked up and saw y/n drumming her fingers against her waist. she obviously knew the song was about her. ever since daisy met the photographer, almost every song she has written has been about her. the singer wrote the end of love the day after y/n walked out of her new york apartment.
it's pitiful, she thinks. even when they're not romantically together anymore, she still writes about her.
and i remember thinking even in my dreaming.
it was a good line for a song.
daisy tried to steady her breathing but when she looked at y/n she felt like she was about to pass out.
breathe in. breathe out.
breathe in. i can't fucking do this.
the flower-named girl placed her headphones down and said a quick “i need some fresh air.” before storming out of the recording booth. daisy walked through god knows how many rooms, until she found an empty one in the back of the building, she sat on the floor and leaned against the door she had just walked through.
you dumb fucking idiot, she thought. now they're all going to think you´re singing about someone in the room, or even worse, that you've relapsed and can't record a damn song. she can't go through this again.
if the band thinking she was in love with billy dunne, when she's not even into men, was bad enough, them seeing her overreact this way is going to make them figure out she has been seeing someone.
there was a minute of silence while she tried to think of an excuse to say when she gets back into the studio, but it was all interrupted by a soft knock coming from the other side of the wooden door she has been leaning against.
“i'm fine, karen. just give me a second.” the blue-eyed girl said while running a hand through her long red hair.
“i'm not karen, but if you want me to go get her, i can do that.” her heart sank as she heard y/n's voice.
“no!” she heard her own voice answer in a quick desperate way. she grimaced at how pathetic she sounded.
“well, is it okay if i come in?”
one beat. two beats. daisy unlocked the door.
the photographer walked into the room and sat on the opposite side of the singer, facing her. “do you want to talk about it?”
“talk about what?”
the girl sighed and leaned her face against the palm of her right hand. “about what just happened. you don't normally walk out of a recording session, daisy. not ever. are you okay?” she asked as she looked straight into daisy's big blue eyes.
the singer stared back and bit her lip as she felt her eyes start to water. “i miss you.”
“daisy-”
“no.” she interrupted. “you say you love me but then decide to break up with me.” she says with a scoff. “without even letting me ask you what i did wrong. without even letting me try and fight for you. for us.” a tear streamed down her right cheek.
it took everything in the girl before her to not wipe it, the way she always did.
“listen, i understand being scared. do you think i'm not frightened of how the boys will react if they ever find out we are the way we are? but i didn't care as long as i had you. i know you have your doubts. but why did we have to hide from everyone? simone would never treat us differently. we both know she's a lesbian. just like you and i.” she pointed a finger at herself and the girl who now wouldn't dare to look her in the eye.
“karen wouldn't either, she's too busy minding her own fucking business to be disgusted by us. even camila wouldn't care, she'd be delighted to know i've never felt an ounce of love for her husband” daisy was fully crying now. god, she loved her girlfriend so much. why wasn't that enough for her?
“i left for that exact reason.”
“what?” she asked.
“you deserve someone who isn't afraid to love you. who isn't afraid of who she is.” y/n continued. “you know, billy and graham saw simone kiss her girlfriend at your birthday party” she said with a sarcastic laugh. “and they didn't give a single shit.” daisy was silent as she listened intently to her ex-girlfriend's voice.
“when simone realized they saw her, she told them they'd been together for over five years. and shit, they truly didn't care. even warren said it wasn't fair simone found a girlfriend way before he met lisa.” y/n played with the rings placed around her fingers to avoid eye contact. “the entire band knows about simone, and they think it's normal.”
daisy's heart was racing, she didn't know if it was excitement for simone, because her best friend was able to love her girlfriend without a care. or if it was happiness, because the rest accepting simone could only mean one thing. if the six don't care about simone and her girlfriend, then that means they won't care about her and y/n.
the photographer was silent for a while, so daisy decided to speak first. “i don't really understand. you left me because you're afraid of them knowing about us. but, you also know they wouldn't care if they find out?” the singer´s eyes scanned her ex girlfriend´s face, trying to find an answer.
“yeah… it's stupid.”
“damn right, it fucking is!” daisy sighed. “i love you. you love me. we can at least tell them and simone about our relationship.”
y/n was the one holding back tears now. “i want to. i truly do.”
“then what's stopping you?” her voice softened at the sight of the girl she loves the most crying in front of her.
“I can't openly love you, not when i can't even say… well, you know what.”
“god, y/n. you didn't tell me you were still struggling with that. i could've helped you.”
“i know you would've, but i didn't want to be a burden.” daisy slowly raised her arm and caressed y/n's cheek in the soft, loving way she always does. “you're not a burden. not ever. not to me.” the flower-named girl tucked the girl's hair behind her ear.
“i love you. i love you so fucking much, i can't breathe when i'm without you.” she continued. “you helped me when i was trying to recover from my addiction. you were there when i got out of rehab. you've helped me stay clean.”
“that was all you, daisy.”
“yeah, but you were next to me the entire time. the least i can do is be next to you, while you learn to accept yourself.” “it took me a while to come to terms with being a lesbian, too.” daisy said as she twirled a piece of y/n's hair around her finger.
“i used to think the only way i could make it into the industry was by not caring about men stealing my music because at least people would hear them. fuck, i forced myself to want them, the same way they wanted me. because that was the closest i thought i'd ever get to being loved.” “but that's not what love is. love is what you and i have.”
y/n placed her hand over daisy's. “i want to be brave, for you.”
“you already are. you just need to be brave for yourself. because you deserve it.”
“thank you, for everything.” y/n gave her a soft small smile. “you don't have to thank me for anything, seeing you smile is good enough for me.”
the two women locked eyes, and they just stared at each other for a small moment. y/n's hands began to shake with desperation, she craved the feeling of daisy against her. and suddenly, she felt a force pulling her towards the redhead girl, daisy placed her hands on both sides of y/n's waist, and instinctively, as if her body was made to be next to her's, y/n placed her hands behind daisy's neck, the same way she has done for the past few years, their bodies were pieces of a puzzle made to be together.
they both leaned into each other, they were so close, they could feel each other's noses rubbing together, daisy smiled at the sensation. “can i-” daisy started “you don't even have to ask.” the girl interrupted, before smashing her lips into the singer's.
their lips locked, the two women having been in the exact same position hundreds of times, but this was different. this kiss was about understanding, about forgiveness, about acceptance, about moving forward. it lasted a few more moments until they were out of breath and had to pull away.
“i love you, daisy jones.” the girl whispered against daisy's lips. “i love you, y/n l/n.” she answered with glossy, vibrant eyes. before getting back into her usual cocky self.
“well, not to spoil my amazing new song, which is going to be a hit, but there's a specific lyric i think you're going to like.” she said, trying to fight back a smile. y/n rolled her eyes at her girlfriend's antics.
“oh yeah? what is it?” daisy cupped y/n's cheeks and stared lovingly into her lover's eyes. “i've always been in love with you. could you tell it from the moment that i met you?” the redhead sang before kissing her beautiful girlfriend again, and again, and again.
daisy still had to finish recording her song, and they still had to explain what took the photographer so long to find her, but luckily, this time y/n wasn't afraid to tell them the truth.

genuinely obsessed with sebs media consumption habits, we know he likes: band of brothers (from the depths of the old sebsite), channing tatum (also sebsite), monty python, little britain (mentioned multiple times) and new girl (seen through glass quickfire questions), can not tell star trek from star wars (tirendo interview) but likes 'the one with the one with the ears' better, uses his phone to take pictures and look at maps (article on the f1 website i think), listens/listened to the beatles, eros ramazotti, blink-182, donovan's season of the witch, had a solid knowledge of early 2010s one-hit wonders in 2020/2019 (ferrari challenge video, guessing a song [actually titanium by sia] was bulletproof by la roux [since the song snippet contained the word bulletproof]) first album he bought was 12 inches of snow, his favorite films are the shawshank redemption and la vita e bella (during which he cried). he had britney and schumi posters up on his wall. he seems to never have heard shawn mendes and camila cabellos 'senorita' before the ferrari challenge (i envy him for this) but does know relatively small german indie bands (jules ahoi [not that small but like. small enough that you can hang out with and talk to the lead singer after a concert])

Daisy Jones
would it make things weird between us if i kissed you right now?
what's a kiss between friends?
how long have you had feelings for me?
Pronouns: They/Them/Theirs, GN!Reader
While you much preferred the company of little Julia in comparison to most of the people partying downstairs, once the baby had dozed back off in your arms, you decided it'd be better to set her back down in her crib and let her sleep properly. You gave your niece a peck on the forehead, smiling gently when she stirred and quietly exiting the nursery before she could wake up and start fussing again.
The party downstairs had grown packed with all sorts of people you had no real interest in. Producers, managers, up-and-coming singers or actors, and just about anyone deep in the music industry. Many were friends or aqquantices of your sister's husband, Billy Dunne, and his band, and as much as you wanted to enjoy the party, you hardly trusted Billy around the booze being poured in every corner. Camilla assured you at every moment that he'd changed, that he swore off the drugs and beer and women. But the only thing you saw when you looked into his eyes was the memory of your sister weeping in her hospital bed with Julia in her arms because her husband had failed to show up. It filled you with nothing but anger and disgust.
You slipped outside into the backyard and dug around in your coat pocket for your pack of cigarettes and lighter. It felt better standing outside instead of the stuffy, smoke-filled rooms inside. You stuck a cigarette between your lips and fiddled with the lighter until it flickered on long enough to light it. You barely had time to inhale before it was snatched from your lips.
"You mind?" The spunky redhead asked, already holding the cigarette between her lips. Her eyes crinkled with amusement and she took a deep inhale before dragging it from her lips and exhaling a cloud of smoke into the air. "I was looking for you everywhere, you know."
"Oh, yeah? Why's that, Daisy Jones?"
The first time you'd met the redheaded singer otherwise known as Daisy Jones, it'd been in the studio when Camila had sent you over to bring lunch to everyone. You never kept up with the band so the new face had come as a surprise but from then on, you found yourself bumping more and more into Daisy Jones. She seemed to pop up out of thin air with her wild mane and chatterbox tendencies. You preferred her over Billy, and her rivalry with him only amused you, but she still reminded you of him. She drank too much, popped too many pills, and did too many lines. Her body fought hard to keep her alive, that was for sure.
"I don't know," She admitted with a shrug, a smile stretching across her face. "I just like your company, I guess."
"Yeah?"
"Yeah." Daisy giggled softly under her breath, running her finger over her bottom lip as the last bit of smoke left her mouth. She swiped her tongue over her drying lips and tilted her head, her big blue eyes gazing over your face. "Would it make things weird between us if I kissed you right now?"
"What?" You laughed in surprise.
Shrugging, Daisy wrapped her lips around the cigarette again, staining it with her lipstick before pulling back again. "What's a kiss between friends?" She laughed that time, nearly coughing on the smoke and breaking out into nervous giggles. Daisy looked away from you and wrapped her fingers around one of her swinging hoop earrings.
"Depends. Are we just friends?" You asked lightly, biting back a chuckle when her head snapped back toward you, eyes widening even further. Her cheeks darkened with a soft pink. Gotcha. "Daisy Jones... how long have you had feelings for me?"

BILLY DUNNE (lead singer, The Six): I don’t remember exactly when it happened, but at one point or another, things between Y/N and I changed. They started to pull away, to keep me at arm’s length, and that . . . that hurt more than I can put into words. For twelve years, we had been inseparable, then boom. Just like that, we were separated.
Don’t get me wrong. I was happy with Camila, happier than I had been in ages, but can one truly find joy without their best friend? No, I don’t think they can.
ੈ✩‧₊˚
Billy and Camila getting together served as a wake-up call. At some point in 1969, you had unknowingly developed feelings for him, had let him into your heart, but now that he was off the market, you felt the need to take a step back, to figure out who you were without your best friend. So you stopped going over to the Dunne household every day, instead opting to spend time with your father or your other friends. As expected, Billy took note of your absence, but when he pushed you for an explanation, you assured him all was well. The year before, he would have immediately noticed that your voice had cracked when offering assurance, revealing your words to be false. Now, though, he was distracted, his mind so wrapped up in other things that he did not notice. (Or so you thought . . .)
Despite the wide berth you were giving Billy, you still saw him at band practice. As per usual, the two of you played side by side, giving your all to the music, and while your musical talents continued to grow, something was off. A tension could be heard, one that neither of you were willing to acknowledge even after Chuck left . . .
His departure was completely unexpected, blindsiding not only you but the rest of the band, because he had been quiet in his discontent, not telling anyone he was going to leave until there was no other choice. He had to, because you had all rode up his stone-paved driveway in Warren’s rickety, beat-up van, expecting to practice, only to realize that the door to Chuck’s garage, your designated practice space, was closed.
“Ah, there he is,” Eddie breathed, kicking open the back door of the van, a half-smoked cigarette hanging from his lips. Out of the back spilled you, him, and Graham, your features all a mask of confusion.
“Hey, Chuck,” you greeted, offering him a wide, sunny smile. The kind that could calm even the most nerve-addled man, because he looked to be in need of assurance. “We‘ve been calling all morning. What’s up?”
There was no time for him to answer, though, before Warren and Billy emerged from the front of the van, the former suspiciously eyeing the closed garage door. “Why’s the garage door closed?”
A beat of tense silence trickled by, depriving the space around you of oxygen, then, “Look, I don’t know how to say this, so I’m just gonna say it. I got into college.”
Warren glanced at you, unable to suppress the soft, surprised chuckle that escaped his mouth. “Huh, all right.”
Your own mouth curved downward in response, showing that you had mixed emotions about the whole ordeal. On one hand, this was good news. Chuck had always been smart, the type that could go far with his brain so long as he applied himself. You could, too, but scholarly pursuits had never appealed to you, not the way music had. Four more years in a classroom personally sounded like torture to you, but if that was what Chuck wanted, then so be it. On the other hand, though, him going to college meant the band would be down both a bassist and a practice space.
“Bro, we didn’t even know you applied,” Graham pointed out, sparing a glance at the rest of the band. No one had a clue about Chuck applying to college until this very moment, because he had stayed silent, closed-lipped.
“Was this, like, before or after I spent all my money on this van?” Warren asked, his surprise bordering the line of disbelief.
“I know. I’m sorry, it’s just . . . they have a really good dental program.”
That was shocking, so much so that it was now your turn for disbelief. “You’re gonna be a dentist?”
“I don’t know. I guess so.”
“Chuck, come on,” Billy huffed, stepping closer to him in an effort to get through to him, to sway his decision. “Please don’t do this. All right? Not now. Not when things are just starting to happen.”
Chuck had thought long and hard about his decision, which was why he stayed firm, hard as stone. “What do you mean, ‘just starting to happen’?”
“Dude, we open for the Winters on Thursday, and that’s just the beginning.”
“This is a real opportunity.”
“So is this.”
“Billy,” Chuck released a deep, exasperated sigh, one that showed just how much he had thought this over. He would not be swayed, even when his closest friends begged him to. “I know this is your dream, man, but just because you want something to happen doesn’t mean it’s going to. Do you really think that there’s a future here?”
“Well, yeah. Chuck, I do.”
“You’re out of your fucking mind.”
With that, Chuck left, leaving a large, bassist-sized hole in the band. It came as a harsh, cutting surprise, but even so, you called after him, “Good luck.”
Your words, though light, did nothing to dispel the tension that had fallen over the group. Eddie seemed to be feeling it most of all, as shown by how he pulled the cigarette from his mouth, turning it over and over in his hands. “We gotta cancel the gig.”
“No, man,” Billy shook his head, refusing to be put out by this one setback. He would not be stymied, not when the band had just gotten started on its rise to greatness. “We’re not canceling.”
“Yeah? What’re we gonna do? We don’t have a bassist, Billy—“
“We’re not canceling,” he repeated, remaining firm, unyielding. Emerald eyes slowly strayed to Eddie, clearing with comprehension, then, “Eddie, you switch over to bass.”
“No.”
You could not help but roll your eyes at the suggestion, because even though Eddie was a team player, there was no way he would switch over without kicking up a storm. He would no doubt complain, spending precious time complaining rather than practicing. That was why you straightened your spine, volunteering, “I’ll do it.”
“Thanks, Y/N. We owe you one.” A pleased grin slid onto Billy’s face, replacing the discontent that had been there moments before. He placed a hand on your shoulder, pressing his gratefulness into your skin in a manner that could have been taken as friendly . . . if only his hand had not lingered a moment longer than it should have.
ੈ✩‧₊˚
GRAHAM DUNNE (lead guitar, the Six): (Smiles) Y/N ended up becoming a better bassist than Chuck, anyway.
─── ✧・゚: *✧・゚:* ───
ROD REYES (tour manager): Oh, yeah. I remember the night the Dunne Brothers opened for the Winters, specifically Billy Dunne and Y/N L/N. One look, and I could tell they were rock stars. He was cocksure, knew who to play in the crowd. They had this air about them, the kind that entranced the crowd, really brought out their emotions.
There’s just a quality that some people have. If you took nine guys, plus Mick Jagger, and you put them in a lineup, someone who had never heard of the Rolling Stones before could still point to Jagger and say, “That’s the rock star.” Billy and Y/N had that. And the bad had good sound.
ੈ✩‧₊˚
“Obviously, you got to write your own material,” the famed manager, Rod Reyes, declared, the distinct smells of smoke and sex emanating from him, filling the air. The smell was so strong and potent that it filled your nostrils from your spot beside Graham, burning your throat, but you were happy, too optimistic to mind the burn.
“Well, I-I mean, I do. We do,” Billy replied, his emerald eyes flitting briefly from Rod’s to yours, because the two of you had written the band’s songs together. A multitude of hours had trickled by in which you two had tried to piece together worthwhile ballads, throwing paint at a theoretical wall and seeing what stuck. The first drafts of the songs had been horrid, lacking any harmony or smoothness, but with much shaping, they had been turned into songs that could go a long way. Key word: could. “Most of it’s not good enough yet.”
“What are you writing about?”
“I have this one song called ‘Nevermore’ about the Catonsville Nine.”
“No. Oh! Are you Bob Dylan? Are you Buffy Sainte-Marie? Enough with the political shit. It’s a new decade. No one needs reminding that the world is a mess. People want to feel good again. They want to feel hope. You can write a love song, can’t you?” Rod demanded, a sour look crossing his face at the thought of ‘Nevermore.’ The song had not been bad, sounding pleasant to the ear, but he did not need to hear it to know that it would not go over well with the masses. He turned to Graham, then, “You need to cool it with the solos, brother. Nobody cares about your technical guitar skills. They want to sing. They want to dance. Look, the last thing I’ll say, and this is key, you need to get the fuck out of Pittsburgh. You want to be signed to a label, you want to work with Jimmy Miller, Tom Dowd, Teddy Price—“
The mention of Teddy Price caused a great, perceptible shift in the air. You immediately sat upright, a curious glint working its way into your eyes. “Wait, you know Teddy Price?”
“Yeah, I know everybody, and they’re all in L.A. now. Not London, not New York. California, my friends. That is the place you got to be.”
His words resonated deeply with you three, specifically the brothers, which was why the prospect of going to L.A. was promptly proposed to the rest of the band. As expected, they agreed, and the six of you and Camila set off, riding off in Warren’s van, Lady Peaches, toward your futures.
ੈ✩‧₊˚
Y/N L/N (singer, The Six): I knew the chances of making it big were slim, but I also knew that if I didn’t at least try, I would never forgive myself. The boys wouldn’t either. So I packed up my things and bid Dad farewell. He was sad to see me go, but just as happy that I was going after my dreams.
He didn’t tell me he was sick . . . Probably because he knew I’d have stayed behind to take care of him.
─── ✧・゚: *✧・゚:* ───
The City of Angels welcomed you and the Dunne Brothers with open arms, taking you in as one of its own. You got into contact with Rod, hoping that he would set you up with the big guys, specifically Teddy Price, but all he had to offer was a gig at a dank, seedy bar named Filthy McNastys. Its attendants were sketchy, having all sorts of sins to their name, but given that the bar was on the Strip, the band gladly pushed through, giving their all to each and every performance.
ੈ✩‧₊˚
Y/N: The months we spent at McNastys were slow. At first, barely anyone came to see us, but the more shows we played, the more attention we got. People started coming in just to see us, which was fantastic, but there was a problem: we were barely getting paid.
I ended up getting a job as a waiter at this cute little coffee house to help make ends meet, but no matter what we did, it just didn’t seem like it’d be enough.
ੈ✩‧₊˚
“What happened with that producer you went up to?” Eddie asked as you slid into the booth aside him, donning your work uniform. Working at a coffee house was not exactly what you had envisioned yourself doing when you had set off for L.A., but hey, sacrifices had to be made if the group was to stay. “The one with the parrot?”
“Parrot guy passed on us,” Camila answered, having fashioned herself the band’s manager. You thought she was doing a great job, given that she had never done such a thing before. Others did not think as such, though, as shown by Eddie’s next comment.
“Wow. That is bleak.”
“Might want to save half that toast for tomorrow, Eddie,” she retorted, eyeing his toast with an expression of deadly seriousness. Atop the table lay a mound of cash, which was all of the money that the band had amassed since the start of the month. “This is barely enough to cover the rent.”
“Fuck,” Eddie cursed, breathing out a deep sigh. Half his toast was promptly placed in his shirt pocket, being tucked away to be eaten tomorrow.
“Fuck,” you echoed, resting your head atop his shoulder, the move a sign of just how deeply tiredness had settled upon your bones, weighing you down. “I’ll be working another double this weekend, I s’pose.”
Eddie opened his arms in response, letting you lean more closely against him. You did so happily, soaking in his warmth. The action, though gentle, was purely friendly, yet still, unbeknownst to you, two sets of eyes looked upon said action disapprovingly. Both Billy and Graham, despite not wanting to admit it, were jealous, because there you were, snuggling up against another man.
Their jealousy went unnoticed, but your exhaustion did not, as shown by the concern that made its way across Warren’s face. “Fuck it. Maybe old Chuckie was right, huh? Maybe this was all just a big mistake and we should have just stayed at home with our parents, saved money on rent, and become dentists.”
“I mean, I’ve sent out hundreds of photographs. Not a single fucking paper has responded. Should I just quit? No one said it was gonna be easy.”
Camila’s disheartened words drew your attention, causing your head to snap up toward hers. “No, don’t quit. All it takes is one person to make a difference,” you replied, flashing her a weak but warm smile, because even though you had distanced yourself from Billy, you had welcomed her into the group as kindly as you had the new keyboardist, Karen Sirko.
“Also, while we’re talking about stuff, how come I’m the only one without a bed in the house?” Warren deadpanned, heavily yearning for a good night’s sleep in a proper bed. He had been squatting on the couch, after all, and it could be felt in the aches of his back. No twenty year old should feel like they had the back of an old, decrepit man . . .
“Well, you could’ve taken Karen’s room,” Billy pointed out, finally breaking out of his jealous haze.
“No, I couldn’t have. That room is haunted.”
“It’s not haunted.”
“Everybody knows it’s haunted.”
“Oh, come on, Rojas. You don’t want to get all up close and personal with a ghost?” you teased, reaching across Eddie to jostle his arm. Of course, Warren jostled you back, the two of you nearly displacing Eddie’s toast, which he did not like. Not at all.
“Hey, stop! You almost made me drop my pocket toast—“
Sensing that the three of you were on the brink of causing chaos, Karen broke her silence, asking a question that had been bothering her for a long time, “Why are we still called The Dunne Brothers? I mean, four of us aren’t Dunnes, and the last time I checked, I’m nobody’s brother.”
“So you want to change our name?” Billy asked, not even wanting to consider the idea. Truth be told, you had been opposed to the name at the nascence of the band, but given that two of the three original members were Dunnes, your opinion had been the minority.
“I personally think that’s a great idea,” Eddie admitted, earning a sharp, accusatory look from Billy. Said look was sharp enough to cut skin, but he did not wilt, instead adding, “I’m just saying what everybody’s thinking.”
“Well, the name is the name, so . . . That’s how people know us.”
“Yeah, but it’s not exactly doing much for us, though.”
“How about Immaculate Reception?” Warren interjected, causing your nose to crinkle disapprovingly.
“God, no. That’s horrid.”
“We’re not changing the name,” Billy insisted, looking to his brother for help. Graham offered none, though, for he was open to changing the name.
“I mean, listen, if we’re throwing stuff out there, Hercules is still on the table.”
“No! No way!”
“Deliverance, Espionage, Poison.”
“How about Aurora—“
“The six of us will never agree on a name,” Billy cut you off, only liking a single one of the names that had been thrown out. “All right? So let’s just . . .”
His words caused a lightbulb to go off in Karen’s head, as shown by how brightly she grinned, realization donning on her features. “What about The Six?”
“I like The Six.”
“Sure as hell better than Hercules.”
“Y/N?” Graham looked at you, an expectant, questioning look flitting across his face. He had been looking at you more and more as of late with that look, one you could not quite make sense of. “What do you think?”
You opened your mouth to answer, to offer your view of the name, only for the words to die on your tongue when your boss, Dave, yelled out, “Y/N, break’s over. Back on the floor!”
ੈ✩‧₊˚
Y/N: I put in crazy hours at the coffee house, working to the point of exhaustion, but one of my coworkers there, this bright, fiery girl named Daisy Jones, turned what was one of the darkest times of my life into one of the brightest. One day, after working a double together, she pulled me along to watch her and her friend, Simone, perform at the Troubadour.
I thought that was all it was, that I was just going to support them, but then, after Daisy performed, she got this crazy glint in her eye. The kind where you know she’s up to something. She set down her guitar and said, “Now, I’d like to bring a friend of mine up on stage. Come on up and wow us, Y/N L/N.”
I was shocked, to say the least, but Daisy Jones isn’t the type of person you deny, especially in a room with that many people. So I got up on that stage, took Daisy’s guitar, and sang a piece I had been writing on my own called “Equilibrium.” It was about trying to find a balance between who I was with Billy versus without him.
Looking back, it was sad just how deeply intertwined I was with him, even when there was more space between us than ever. At the time, though, I didn’t realize the song was about him.
Hell, I didn’t even realize Teddy Price was in the audience that night. In my defense, though, my obliviousness might’ve been from all the mescaline I was taking at the time . . .
ੈ✩‧₊˚
After your performance, you returned the guitar to Daisy and hopped off the stage, your cheeks bathed in perspiration from exertion. As soon as your feet made contact with the earth, you were off, making a beeline for the star of the night, Simone.
A golden grin immediately slid onto your mouth, showing how happy you were for her in that moment. “Simone, you did great out there.”
“Hey,” she returned the smile, inclining her head to the man she had been chatting with before you had approached. “Y/N L/N, Teddy Price. You two should talk.”
Oh, my God, you thought when his name trickled your ears. It was all you could think, because there was one of the legends of the music industry, handing you his card. Feeling as though you were floating outside of your body, you reached out to take the card into your hands, hoping that he did not notice the slight tremble of your fingers.
“You interested, kid? We could work on some music together.”
“Oh, um, I appreciate it, but I’m not a solo act,” you informed, because at the time, you had only ever performed by yourself on a handful of occasions. They had been fine, perhaps even good, but not as great as when you performed with the band. “I’m in a band, The Six. Any chance you’d be interested in giving us a chance? Just let us play one song for you, that’s all I ask.”
He looked upon you, studying you keenly. A beat passed, then he nodded, agreeing to give The Six a chance. “Okay, kid. I’ll give you a chance. Are you ready?”
“Undoubtedly, yes.”
ੈ✩‧₊˚
BILLY: People think we played one song for Teddy Price and he gave us a record deal. Not true. After that first meeting, he put us through the wringer for months, but it was worth it.
Everything had gone so slowly, and then suddenly it was all happening so fast. We recorded our album in six days, had two weeks off, then it was time to hit the road.
─── ✧・゚: *✧・゚:* ───
BILLY: The night before we were set to leave, Camila told me she was seven weeks pregnant, and I . . . I decided we needed to get married right away. We had been planning to have a wedding sometime after the tour but I decided we needed to do it right then. I don’t know why that mattered to me, but the moment I knew she was pregnant I felt like we had to make sure we were a proper family.
CAMILA DUNNE (wife of Billy Dunne): Karen knew an ordained minister. She got his number from a friend of hers and we called him late that night. He came right over.
EDDIE ROUNDTREE (rhythm guitarist, The Six): It was four in the morning.
CAMILA: Karen decorated the porch out back, and Y/N picked some roses from the bushes surrounding the house. They made me this beautiful flower crown and did my hair; it made me feel like a proper bride.
─── ✧・゚: *✧・゚:* ───
INTERVIEWER: What do you remember about the tour?
Y/N: More than I’d like to.
GRAHAM: . . .
WARREN ROJAS (drummer, The Six): . . .
KAREN SIRKO (keyboardist, The Six): . . .
BILLY: I, uh . . . It was a long time ago, I don’t remember much.
CAMILA: I remember everything.
GRAHAM: Pretty quickly, we found a rhythm: get to town, sound check, play, party, get on the bus. And the better we started playing, the more we partied. Hotels, girls, drugs. Over and over. Hotels, drugs, girls. For all of us, but especially Billy.
WARREN: Let me sum it up for you: I was getting laid, Graham was getting high, Eddie was getting drunk, Karen and Y/N were getting fed up, and Billy was all four, at once.
Y/N: Billy changed on that first tour. Cracked under the pressure, I think. He turned into a person I didn’t recognize and didn’t like.
And even though I didn’t like him, I still loved him.
ੈ✩‧₊˚
After the wedding, something within Billy had changed, had shifted. He became hard, closed off. You and Graham, two of the people closest to him, were kept at arm’s length, having no choice but to helplessly watch on as he ruined all that was good in his life. He got drunk, high, and angry, and when his anger mounted to an exceedingly high level, he expelled it by sleeping with a nameless woman, one he could use, then discard when he felt better.
Him spiraling hurt you more than you cared to admit, but you were not his family. Not his spouse nor his blood, so it was not your place to set him straight . . . or you thought as such until he tried to rope you into his debauchery.
ੈ✩‧₊˚
Y/N: After the Ottawa show, I went back to my hotel room and started getting ready to go out for the night. I remember, I was just about to get started on my hair when there came a knock at the door. I opened it, expecting to see Graham, but it was Billy. He had been drinking tequila. I could smell it on his breath, and the look in his eye . . . I had never seen him that down, and it made me sad.
I didn’t know what to say, but I let him in. He went and sat down on the bed, and knowing I’d need a drink to get through whatever was to come, I poured myself a glass of whiskey. It was awful, but did its job. I downed the whole thing, then poured two more. One for me, and one for Billy.
BILLY: I honestly don’t know what got into me that night. I just needed to see Y/N, to hold them.
Y/N: He asked me to hold him, so I did. We sat there for a while, not talking, moving, or doing anything. Just holding each other . . . until he tried to kiss me. That pissed me off, because he knew how I felt about him. He had known when he married Camila, yet still, he had married her. Had chosen her.
I jumped up and yelled, “What the fuck do you think you’re doing, Billy? I mean, honestly, is this the kind of person you want to be?”
And he said, “The booze, the drugs, the girls . . . I’ve been doing them all to try to get you out of my system—“
I slapped him. Hard.
BILLY: Y/N slapped me, and I just kind of sat there, reeling. They looked like they wanted to apologize, but before they could, Graham walked in. You could just tell by the look on his face that he had overheard the whole thing.
GRAHAM: I only heard a tiny bit, but it wasn’t hard to piece together what was happening. It also wasn’t hard to piece together that Y/N wasn’t willing to entertain Billy’s advances, so I pushed him out of the room and into the parking lot. Outside, he paced back and forth and muttered to himself, looking a little crazy. He said, “I fucked it all up. I fucked it all up.”
Deep down, I’d known it was coming, because he loved Y/N the same way I did. So all I could say was, “Just don’t do it again, man. Just don’t do it again.”
ROD: Billy started going at it double time after Ottawa. The coke and girls and booze and all that.
GRAHAM: Camila decided to surprise Billy a few weeks after that. She drove up, five months pregnant, and found him in a . . . compromising position.
EDDIE: She walked in on him getting, well . . . I don’t know how else to say it . . . oral sex, I guess I should say. From a groupie.
Y/N: Camila blew up on Billy. Like, slapped right across the face. Hit him with her bag, too, if memory serves. She asked me to watch him, to make sure he didn’t sink deeper into himself.
And she said, “When he wakes up, give him this letter.” The letter had an ultimatum; he had to get clean before the baby came.
KAREN: He didn’t stop messing around with all of it.
EDDIE: We were all sort of counting down the days. You know, sixty days until Billy has to get clean. Then it was forty days. Then, when it got down to ten days, he was forgetting the words onstage, and I thought he was never gonna clean up.
Y/N: On November 28th, we were in Hartford for a show when one of the stage managers called me offstage. Said there was a call for me. I picked it up, and it was Teddy. “You gotta get Billy home,” he said, because Camila had gone into labor.
BILLY: Y/N took me by the arm and held onto me until we got onto the plane. Then, we landed and they dragged me into this beat-up rental car and drove me to the hospital.
ੈ✩‧₊˚
The rickety old rental car sped into the hospital parking lot, going way faster than the legal speed in an effort to get Billy to his girls as fast as possible. When the car rolled to a stop, though, he did not immediately jump to get out. Confusion overtook your features, prompting you to say, “Well? Go see your girls.”
“I can’t,” he whispered, his voice sad, broken down. Never before had you seen him so shattered.
“You can.”
“I can’t.”
“Billy.”
“Y/N. I can’t have her meet me like this.”
An emotion akin to the anger you had felt back in Ottawa arose beneath your skin, causing you to tighten your hold on the steering wheel, your knuckles flashing white with force. “Okay, then,” you said, eerily calm. “I’m going to be there for Camila and to meet that baby girl, with or without you, Billy. But if I go by myself, you’re going to get help when I come back out. Real help.”
ੈ✩‧₊˚
Y/N: That night, sitting by Camila’s bedside was when I let go of the possibility of Billy. He had a wife and a baby, and if he was going to mess that up, I wasn’t going to play a part in it.

She was sitting across from you.] Oh yeah no no we’re definitely rolling , want me to start on with the questions? >>Y/N<< ; Yes of course , fire away! Sorry if I’m a little clumsy with this I’ve never been the best at interviews is all. [You comment as your hand goes for a drink you had placed down earlier right before she got the camera rolling.] >>Interviewer<< ; Trust me you’ll be fine , its a easy process honestly. I’ll start with the first question. . . being one of the lead vocalists of the band must have been something. How did you meet the band? >>Y/N<< ; [You lean back taking a swig of your drink with it] Well in Hazelwood? , nothing could stop you from knowing everyone and their business. Growing up I was neighbors with the Dunne family, we lived right across the street. I was stuck in my bubble a lot as a kid. I only knew about the brothers after my mother forced me over when she and their mom had their regular long lunches. We [my family] especially got involved once their dad popped out of the picture. My mother noticed the hole he left in that family dynamic so she helped out how she could. Be that in money or lending a hand when needed. Which meant I was around MORE often than normal. Especially she stressed to try and be a little more friendly with Billy. With our own childhood rivalry , she always repeated about how he was in a tough place and needed a friend. Some time passed and surprisingly we clicked? Somehow , someway we became actual friends. I honestly dont regret getting more closer with him , he may be a douche but he isn’t or wasn’t the most vile guy around. [You commented , shrugging and repositioning yourself.] Graham was pretty easy to get along with a little later on. He was a huge dork but a good guy , along with being a total awkward mess when it came to any girl deciding to barely SPEAK with him. The brothers weren’t half bad to be completely honest. Eddie and Warren? , those guys I met through Graham. Like I said in that town you always knew who everyone was and what they were up to. I had met Warren when Graham had invited him over to his place. I popped in just for fun and then met the goof. To this day one of my favorite people on this plane of existence. Eddie.. [you snapped your fingers] oh! My mother would volunteer at the local old folks home , she always had that saint behavior. Eddie was visiting his grandma and I was stuck in his grandmas room waiting for my mom to get back so we could leave. Me and him struck up some conversation , found out we knew the same people and had some similar interests. Big fucking doof but again , a likeable dork. Then... boom! - just like that he was stuck with me. At that point they all were. [You chuckled happily as you finish explaining.] >>Interviewer<< ; *She nodded while scribbling down something on her notepad.* Wonderful , on with my next question - how was your start with the band? You know joining it and all. >>Y/N<< ; [You nodded- swishing around your glass.] At first when the band was starting off I didnt really have my mind set on joining you know? We were all just dumb kids , I was more of a person dedicated to a steady sort of “project” if you could call it that. But then... I heard them from chucks garage. I wasn’t some musical genius, but I had some useful judgments. I remember popping my head in, giving some light-hearted jabs at them. Then out of the blue Eddie starts talking his ass off all embarrassed, if I’m so good I should join! I can just remember staring daggers into the bozo's eye sockets. Little did they know I actually had some skills to back me up; my “audition” they all looked so incredibly hilarious. Just like that I was in , they even let me take up vocals with Eddie. All the time I could remember Graham going on constantly about how THE Billy Dunne would be playing with us. School or where ever , he was always on his bullshit. At that point Billy was basically a legend around people our age. Everyone would figuratively and literally fall to their knees for the hunk with his guitar. While I was the swamp goblin that caught a ride on that popularity. [You chuckled half heartedly , taking another swig from your cup.] Of course, we weren’t the best, this wasn't anything extraordinary. Nevertheless, at least we were something. It didn't take much convincing from Graham to have him hear them play, but hey- I helped with that extra push. Just a few sessions later the band was basically his, although I still was able to keep my placement in the band. Even with how stubborn he was or could be, it was enjoyable having our ideas bounce off one another. Besides whatever he says , I didnt threaten to cut his dick off. It was a spur of the moment thing you know! But it really only lifted up our talent more , him joining and becoming our basic front man. We actually became... easier to stomach. [You shudder , sheepishly replying with a grin.] As we got into more of the rhythm of actually BEING a band , nothing was set and stone. It was basically just an escape; a detour if you will from regular life. I cant even recall off the top of my head all the tons of local parties , graduations , even weddings we played. Honestly was a pretty enjoyable time for the lot of us. I mean getting to hang out with a group friends doing something you were all semi passionate about? Truly a fuckin blast if I do say so myself. Even with the fun , deep down you could embrace with talent we had when playing on the cramped stages we were given. I was a big dreamer and dream big I did. Those early days , our potential was showing itself off more. That “it” factor that wasn’t quite discovered yet was so palpable, so I stayed hopeful. We only really became an actual, legitimate band after a certain gig we had. It was a wedding , my best guess is that one of the newly weds name was Doug? Though that’s besides the point. I mean starting off we didnt play in the best of places. Maybe a couple crappy bars around town here and there or some “okay” parties .. but nothing super superb. Until we got this one , everyone couldn’t have been more over the moon! When we got onstage the crowd couldn’t have loved us more , it was a pretty pleasant time. Until in the middle of our session I spot some old creep. He was dancing.. even if you could call it that. The most tackiest suit with a pretty shitty comb over. Dont forget the girl that was basically our age. Took me a little too long to realize that.. that was Billy and Grahams dad. Before I could do or say anything , Billy looked mortified. His eyes were wide as his jaw was to the floor. He stormed off before even any of us could get a word in. Graham had gotten a little ahead of us while me , Eddie , Warren , and Chuck followed along. As if anyone could look more shattered than he did , I mean just by the look on his face you could tell something was up. He was so quick on his feet , marching back in to confront him. His dad was clearly waisted and had some of that classic slurred drunky speech. Lets just say there was some really good Karma going around. Coming back out into the parking lot , any payment from that whole thing was doomed right after Grahams fist went slamming into his dads face. Everyone stood around aimlessly while just by a glance at Billy.. something was cooking up in his magnificent brain. He had the words to rally hundreds , instead rallying the rest of us. I can remember his words like it was all entirely yesterday. “Your my brothers.. I love you. We work hard and stick together. We’re gonna be the biggest band in the world someday , do you trust me?” [You explained while using your hands in air quotes.] He wasn’t wrong about becoming the biggest fuckin band in the world I’ll let you know. [You joked with a snicker as the interviewer across from you shared the snicker with a faint chuckle.] Right after that gig was when practices started to get more frequent , all crammed inside of Chucks garage. If my vocal cords were frazzled and my hands were sore it was a good day. Not gonna lie that was frequent occurrence. Around that time was also where Billy got more acquainted with Camila. I had knew her from around the neighborhood , we would always run into each other on our shared walks to the middle school we went to. She was like sun when its fiery and burning , bright and always cheery for conversation. For weeks Graham was less of the hopelessly in love one around. Hours upon hours Billy couldn’t stop talking about her. It was nice seeing him so happy , she really brought something out of him. A new sort of groove so to say. [You wink at the camera with a toothy grin.] ■━■ Speaking of Camila , it brought a memory to your mind. ■━■ It was the week before Billy had asked Camila to be his girlfriend. He was rambling about her for days and days on end. Constantly frequenting your house just to only talk about her. It may had been a little ear grating but you were happy for him none the less. Though, your feelings for him never stopped poking at you. You’ve never really felt so bitter when hearing about the new girl he was in a daze over. But now.. something tugged at you. Be it jealousy or contemplation , it was definitely something. You could never really land on an explanation. One of those days he had stopped by your house. Your mom was out with her new conquest on some sort of weekend trip , which left you home alone. It may have been shameful to still live with your parent but it did leave you to roam around freely. With Billy involved , that all led to shenanigans happening. Your mother had this prized piano , one of the things she always cherished even with how old it was. It may have been a gift from your grandparents? You never really wanted to know , never the less cared about it origins. But you always loved playing it. That night you were able to open your moms alcohol stash , and lets just say you and Billy got a little heavy handed with the booze. To the point the both of you felt like teenagers doing the most stupidest shit in existence , even though you guys were only stumbling around. Definitely the kinds of things that would totally have the pair of you in trouble. What was supposed to be a session for brainstorming became your own mini , two person party. As it reached around midnight the two of your were sat at that old piano. It was so eloquent , probably one of the most expensive things in your house. Playfully your hands were smacking at the keys. While Billy's head was rested upon your shoulder , his signature “dumb” smile on his face. Cherishing the alone time , while in your sloppy state your slurred out the words to the song you had been coming up with. Even though your mind was in a bit of a fuzz you still were able to match the keys and the tone. Though you couldn't help the hiccups and little giggles that emerged from you. It was until you realize Billy crane his head up and look at you as you played. His cheeks were more red than a fresh strawberry , eyes oh so glazed over as he only watched you. You realized as well and looked over , the warmness in your cheeks heightening. Not stopping yourself , you took that moment in silence to admire him. Be it his immersive eyes or his intoxicating smile , there was always something about him. Something that always dragged you along for the ride. Something that always led you to stick by his side no matter what. Something about this man. . . made you feel something. These feelings that always made you loose a little air and made your chest puff out in that same old flustered feeling. That same stupid grin came back as he couldn’t stop laughing. It was bashful and exuberant , while being calm and grounding in the best way possible. You quirked a brow as you couldn’t help but start on this chuckle train. You wiped your eye with a flick of your finger. “Wh-what are you even on right now man~?” You tried to compose yourself as your voice got a little more fluent. He didnt stop grinning like an idiot. “Nothinggg.. you just make things good.” He commented as he crossed his arms in confidence. “I see , so thats what you kept me around this long~..” You cracked as another giggle escaped from you; your eyes still glued to his. He gently socked your forearm as he couldn’t stop himself from giggling. “N-noo! Dont sell yourself THAT short. You make a lot of things good.. you make me feel.. good.” He may had been stumbling over his words but that was one of the most dedicated proclamations. You cracked a blissful smirk as you seemingly leaned a little bit more in. “Well I’m glad to be a booster to your existence.” As soon as you finished talking , he also got a little bit closer. Maybe it was the copious amounts of alcohol the two of you chugged down , or the confusing thoughts sprouting. But almost like the current took you in , your lips met Billy’s. He welcomed in the kiss , moving his hands right away. His hands cupped your cheeks; embracing the warmness of your face. The kiss only deepened and turned into more of a tangled make out. Though he was the first one to pull away , regret filling his face. You were confused about how he was suddenly acting. The man looked the most sober out of the both of you. “I-im sorry I- I cant do this. All of this.. I mean your awesome but..” Even as he was explaining himself his hands still cupped your warm face. Your eyes framed into sad ones as you scooted back; well as much as you could on the pianos bench. He tried to say something , you really wanted him to! Maybe a “just kidding” or.. anything! But alas he was quiet the entire time you two shared a painful stare. He got up from the connected bench and staggered over to your front door. You felt so ashamed in that moment. So small you couldn’t stop beating yourself up about it. But you realized what those feelings you had always pined over were. You, like it or not... were in love with Billy Dunne. You came to that realization as he continued to walk out on you. Be it the next coming week nothing seemed out of the ordinary , he was still friendly with you like always. Though the kiss was never brought back up again. Along with that Camila started to come around more often. Huge recorder in her hand as she watched over your practice sessions. Maybe in the end that was for the best , maybe in the end it was all just too complicated. ■━■ You reeled your mind out of the gutter and back to the present. ■━■ >>Y/N<< ; [You head your head in your hand as you looked back at Jules.] Sorry, got a little zoned out. Did I miss something? >>Interviewer<< ; [She shook her head with a kind look on her face.] No no.. you did though cut off at the part of the whole band realization. >>Y/N<< ; [You readjust in your seat once more.] Right right , at that point in our life it was almost like a huge fork in the road. I mean we were all just adults thrashing our heads around at endless gigs. Most people our age were either off getting fancy dead end jobs or dead in ditches after enlisting. The actual chance of us getting a name for ourselves was.. small in hindsight. Even though the odds were stacked against us a lot of the time , we were able to get an actually good gig. At the time with a band like ours , opening for the winters was almost like a blessing in disguise. It may have been us packed into again , some small bar with annoyingly sweaty onlookers but it was the Winters for christ sake! Somehow some way we got that one scored in the bag , and we went to go tell Chuck about our latest accomplishment. Though guess he was up to his own shit. I was never the biggest fan of him you know? He was okay but he was like... meh when it came to actual conversation. Personally I was never the closest with him. Anyways- we arrive to his house in Warrens new van. It was clunky and smoky but with a little touch ups we made it work. More of a home than a heap of shit. Poor dude had busted all of his savings on it. Whole time I couldn’t stop fidgeting in the back with the idea of us becoming somebodies. I always was a big dreamer and forever will be. It may be frowned down upon to put all your eggs into one basket but we were just some crazy kids looking for something. This was that something! In my mind I knew this gig had to lead to some sort of accomplishment in a way , I just knew it. Even if it all sounded crazy or spur of the moment , the band was like our.. baby in a way? Like our prize possession , and take the gig as some big new award. Long story short , I was filled with so much fear and excitement I was basically like a ticking time bomb. [You dramatically grace a hand to your chest before going on with your explanation.]
>>Y/N<< ; When we arrived, I could already tell something was up. The garage we always played in was closed, which I took as a concerning sign. My anxiety was even more impacted by seeing Chuck's face. Guy looked like he was about to shit himself in fear. He tells us and acts like an asshole about it. A dentistry career? Really? I knew he was shitty from the start. Now with our new gig lined up and no bassist , you’d probably be like well what do we do now. Well Eddie was immediately was talking about us having to “cancel the gig.” Lets just say I stepped around a couple hypothetical landmines when Billy tried to push Eddie to play bass. I stepped in of course and said I’d do it. With how much time I normally spent cooped up in my house during my younger years I was pretty much a master at it. An I mean , you could just feel the bitterness rising once Billy tried to push it on him. Mission saved of course by yours truly. [You stated dramatically - taking a sip from your drink and setting it down.] We do the gig and you know what? , its a hit! The crowd goes wild and we have a fucking awesome time. Entire encore I was just taking in the fact people were listening at all. After we finish, we took a smoke break outside the bar. Casually me , Eddie , and Warren are standing off to the side. Just talking like regular. When all of a sudden I see Billy , starry eyed scurry up to us with Graham behind him. Brining up the idea of “Hey lets road trip to L.A to grow our band!” At first it was sudden , I mean being realistic- we aren’t just gonna fly off the charts when first hitting Los Angeles. But you know what? , Hazelwood was getting cramped. I loved living there and I did for most of my entire life. But this was something new! Just by that performance I immediately said yes to the idea. We promised to always stick together , and I was a person of my word. The whole upbeat mood kind of dropped when Camila came out asking what was up , but I had to deal with packing my things. I basically jumped out of the van door when Warren dropped me off. As soon as I reentered my “home” , everything changed. My mom was still awake and livid. She was clearly not in a lucid headspace seeing the amounts of opened wine. Her displeasure only grew stronger when I told her the news. Snipping at me for leaving my “poor and weak mother to fend for herself.” I stood my ground then and there. I was always thankful that she’d let me stay with her. Most kids would have been kicked out if they were my age and weren’t going to school. But me and my mother struck up a deal with living costs and that was that. All of a sudden though she gets so pissed that I’m leaving. I tell her straight , that I’m an adult and this is something new for me. That it could really mean something for my career. I distinctly remember her scoffing in my face and going - “What career?!” It was really messy , and I was fed up with it. Even when she was screaming at me I packed my bags. All I owned into one big suitcase for the city of angels , woohooo..! I didn’t even let my tears stop me as she started to cut deeper with her insults. Right when I told her there was no way I was backing out , she basically disowned me. Saying that she didn’t want to be associated or RELATED with some washed up crack whore. Genuinely I was so confused , she always supported this dream of mine? Always accepted my hopes and aspirations, she never hesitated to pay for any lessons I wanted or any new hobby I wanted to partake in. Seeing her face for one last time I only saw the bad. Her leaving for days with her new “friends” , her clearly drunk off her gord and slurring nonsense after she decided to hide herself behind the couches for at least a weekend[s]. She was an embarrassment but knew how to clean up an act. That two faced bitch shoved me out of my own house , and told me I was never welcomed inside again. It wasn’t like I wouldn’t call or anything , I've been cleaning up her messes since day one. Always having to deal with my new “dad” candidates whisking around my halls , or having to be the middle man in those arguments. Fuck- they’d even make me deal with their kids! I couldn’t even get in one word before I got the door slammed in my face. I tried calling for her , begging for her to understand. I basically lost a mother in that moment and it wrecked me. All I wanted when I cam home was some support and what I got in return was just bitter insults. I couldn’t really be excited when the home I knew for so long became nothing. I couldn’t sleep outside with the rain incoming. So I went to someone that was actually decent , Ms. Dunne. It had started sprinkling when I made it onto her doorstep. My sobbing blended with the rain but by my guitar case , get-away bag, and watery eyes she knew something happened. She welcomed me in with the biggest hug , telling me everything was gonna be okay. She already knew about the whole move to L.A and gave me some hope. Telling me that she’ll be my personal cheerleader places away. An to not listen to what my mother said , that I had a talent so bright it was like the blinking stars in the night sky. I was a blubbering mess while she started to make me a nice hot cup of tea. I realized something very helpful in that moment. Family isn’t just by blood .. its the people who love you , who accept you even with all your mucky details. That was the Six for me , they were my family. As the warm cup dragged me back down to earth , I became settled in my decision. I slept on the Dunne’s couch that night. It may had been a rainy day but all I saw was my hot , and burning future when I woke and saw that fateful van. We all packed in , everyone feeling mixed emotions. I even got more excited when I saw a eager Cami crawl in as well. I was pretty joyed over the reconciliation between her and Billy , but all I was thinking of was what was to come. Going as far as to imagining what could possibly happen. I was maybe... fifty percent correct in what I had in mind. [You chuckled with a big bright grin at the statement , holding your head in your hands.] The time that passed was awesome in the van. We were all just a group of ambitious people finding something more. When we made it? , god I was overjoyed! It was all just like my dreams , with the big signs in lights and the character filled pedestrians. Nighttime there was nothing compared to night back home. I knew I was gonna like this arrangement right away. ‿‿‿‿ ‿‿‿‿ ‿‿‿‿ ‿‿‿‿ ʙᴏɴᴜꜱ ꜰᴏᴏᴛᴀɢᴇ: >>Interviewer<< ; How would you describe them in three words? >>ʙɪʟʟʏ ᴅᴜɴɴᴇ<< ; Oh god! , theres so many ways to describe them in more than just three words. [He scoffed lightly in flustered-ness , really taking a second to think.] I cant fuck this up i’d tell you that. Lets sayy.. honest , vibrant , and complicated. Though that’s was one of their greatest quirks. >>ᴅᴀɪꜱʏ ᴊᴏɴᴇꜱ<< ; [She chucked at the thought.] Well.. maybe forgiving , genuine , and wonderful! They are so many things but truly never boring. >>ᴡᴀʀʀᴇɴ ʀᴏᴊᴀꜱ<< ; Hmm... so much shit to choose from. I’d have to go with comedic , the best , and just.. god this is hard! Wait was that three- >>ᴋᴀʀᴇɴ ꜱɪʀᴋᴏ<< ; They’ve always been one of my closest friends to this day. Compassionate , creative , and sparky! Just by their presence you could immediately tell you were gonna have a good time. Maybe a mess but hey , aren’t we all? >>ᴇᴅᴅɪᴇ ʀᴏᴜɴᴅᴛʀᴇᴇ<< ; [He tapped at his chin in thought.] Personally? Wait.. just THREE? Holy shit this is gonna be hard. Well.. all I’m gonna say is they were like a ball of chaos in the best ways possible. They could just consume you fully in so much wonder , never a dull moment. [He smiled , assured in his answer.] >>ᴄᴀᴍɪʟᴀ ᴀʟᴠᴀʀᴇᴢ (ᴅᴜɴɴᴇ)<< ; [She smiled thoughtfully at the camera.] There's one great word to describe them entirely. Curiosity , just the embodiment of it entirely.

Trolls Band Together
Hello once again, everyone.
At this point, I’m sure you all already know why I’m not as active as I used to be.
But if some of you need a refresher, in Layman's terms, being an adult, with the responsibilities that all comes with being an adult, has left me very busy, and it just caused me to lose interest in Tumblr and only come back for short periods of time, from time to time.
But now, now that the newest Trolls movie, Trolls Band Together, has released, I figured I’d write my thoughts about it.
But before I begin, I must give you all a heads up: There’s going to be major spoilers with what I’m about to talk about, so if you are reading this and haven’t seen the movie yet but still want to see it, if you don’t want the movie to be spoiled, then don’t read this any further. It’s going to have major spoilers.
But, for those who have seen the movie, well, here’s what I have to say:
I loved it.
I loved the music, the animation, the voice acting, as well as the all the new characters and the chemistry between the new and returning characters.
I appreciated that the movie started acknowledging the Bergens again and gave them a more prominent role in the movie after they mostly went ignored for a long time after the first movie, Trolls Holiday, and the first few seasons of TTBGO (even though it and Trollstopia aren’t canon to the movies). Seeing Gristle and Bridget finally getting married and contributing significantly to the plot was nice to see, and cute, I'd say.
I also thought it was cool seeing that Branch also once was part of a band with his four older brothers, and him going through the movie trying to reconnect with them, while difficult for him after they left him in his childhood, was still nice to see, especially with Floyd. It was nice seeing Floyd comfort Branch when he was a baby, and be the most supportive of him throughout the movie next to Poppy, after seeing Branch being the one who always got the short end of the stick for a long time throughout TTBGO and Trollstopia. It really made me smile.
I also liked Camila Cabello as Viva. Seeing the singer who sung Havana voicing Poppy's secret long lost sister, it was cute.
And, of course, seeing *NSYNC appear in the movie and collaborating with Justin Timberlake again after over 20 years, was awesome! Their new song, 'Better Place', gives me the same feeling of joy when I listened to 'Green Light Ride' from Crush 40 when they reunited with the Sonic series after a long break for Team Sonic Racing. It was awesome to hear them back together again in both instances.
I also especially loved seeing the combined band of Branch, his brothers, and Poppy and Viva all singing together for both a remix of 'Better Place' and 'Family', and it made me realize why the film was even titled Band Together, because they were literally banding together!
Now, with all that being said, I did have some issues with the film as well.
The movie's villains, Velvet and Veneer, they felt kinda one-dimensional and shallow. I thought they could’ve spent more time with them to develop their backstories a bit more and make them a bit more fleshed out.
And also, what’s the name of the species of Velvet and Veneer? They never appeared in any of the previous movies, holidays specials, or non-canon shows, and were never implied to or hinted at before, but that we do know about their existence, why don’t the Trolls or Bergens know about them? And also, they have advanced technology that can suck out a Troll's musical talent? And apparently Wi-Fi and social media exists in the Trolls world? What the heck?
Okay, okay, I know most of that doesn’t bother a lot of you guys, but to me, it highlights an ongoing issue I’ve always seen within the Trolls series: Inconsistencies with regards to its world building. I know a lot of you guys have seen it in the non-canon shows, but I also saw it in Trolls World Tour, since that movie introduced Trolls tribes that all have their own unique musical genre. As cool as I thought that was, it also made me think: Do those other musical Troll tribes know about the Bergens? Do the Bergens know about those other Troll tribes?
And speaking of those other Troll tribes, I was also disappointed that they aren’t even seen or mentioned in this movie. It left me very disappointed, since there’s a lot of potential you could do with those other Troll tribes, like make some kind of new evil threat that could threaten the entire Trolls' and Bergens' species, and have all the Troll tribes and Bergens band together (pun intended) to stop that evil threat. That could’ve been awesome!
Oh, and the Snack Pack got reduced to extras, which, like my disappointment with the absence of the other Troll tribes, left me feeling a bit disappointed, since they could’ve done something more with them in this movie.
Other than those things, I really loved the film!
And for all you Trolls fans out there, I think it’s time that I mention the elephant in the room with regards to Broppy.
Finally…
After waiting over seven long years since the first movie…
And seeing a far away version at the end of World Tour…
Branch.
And.
Poppy.
Finally.
At.
Long.
Last…
…
…
…
KISSED.
THEY FINALLY DID IT!!!
BRANCH AND POPPY FINALLY KISSED EACH OTHER ON THE LIPS!!!
IT HAS FINALLY HAPPENED!!!
Now, unfortunately, unlike with Trolls World Tour, Trolls Band Together is still in theaters, and I didn’t find any leaked screencaps in time for the writing of this review, but trust me, I’m not kidding, this actually happened in the movie!
And I couldn’t have been more overjoyed to finally see it happen officially, front and center, on screen, and made me cheer in the theater!
And I thought I’d let you all know after being silent for a long time!
Because after waiting for over seven years, after all that waiting, I couldn’t be happier to see that the kiss was well worth the wait.
As a big Trolls fan.
Thank you all for reading this.
And I’ll talk again next time.
Maybe when there’s a new Trolls show or movie?
I guess we’ll just have to wait and find out!
Thank you all once again, and have a wonderful day.

Talking about Daisy Jones and The Six, specifically about Eddie Roundtree, I've seen some people saying that they're not liking the fact that in the show they've introduced the "Eddie's always been in love with Camila" thing because it takes away from the other reasons Eddie's angry with Billy and everything is just related to the love triangle and the romance of it all.
I would like to agree to disagree.
Yes, Eddie's resentment towards Billy has his roots also in his love towards Camila, however that's just the tip of the iceberg. Eddie was the singer and frontman of the band, before Billy entered it. Eddie played the guitar, before Billy told him to play the bass after their other friend left for college. He could've told Graham but he didn't, of course he didn't. Eddie, who was saying the same things Daisy did for half a decade and yet was never heard. Billy undermined him quite a lot, not even letting him coming up with his own bass riffs.
With this I'm not saying that Billy the bad guy, just that he's not a perfect man, because no one is in this show.
Eddie loves Camila, there's no denying that, but saying that the jealousy he feels is the only or the main reason for his resentment towards Billy doesn't feel right to me... it really takes away from what happened to Eddie before Camila and Billy were even a thing.

Walking into Filthy McNasty's was interesting.
I hadn't found myself in a venue like that in a while now. I had missed it. There was a lot less pressure when looking at smaller places like this.
I was pointed to a table with a folded nametag on the table. I chuckled at the way my name had been scribbled onto it. I dropped myself down in the booth, pocketing the paper.
There were a few minutes of calmness before a girl stood next to my table. I looked up at her.
"Hi, sorry," she said. "I just... I like taking photos for the band. Mind if I sit here and try to get some shots?"
I motioned over to the other side of the booth. "Be my guest."
"I'm Camila," she introduced herself.
"(Y/n)," I replied, opening my small journal to take some notes.
"Oh..."
I looked back at her to see her looking at me with a somewhat stunned expression. I chuckled a bit.
"I hope that look is a good reaction," I joked.
She slowly nodded. "Yeah... Yeah, of course. Graham... Graham mentioned you."
"I see... All good things?"
"Oh, absolutely, he wouldn't shut up about you," she promised before quickly backtracking. "Not that he was being creepy about it. He just thinks that you're really amazing. He really admires you."
I chuckled again; I had hints that it was a little bit more than admiration. "It's alright, Camila. I promise. It's nice to meet you."
"You too," she seemed to relax.
"How do you know them?"
"I... Billy and I have been together for a while."
"The lead singer?"
"Yeah."
"You... followed them out here?"
She nodded.
"You really believe in them."
"With everything I have."
My heart felt like it swelled a bit at the sentiment. It was cute to see.
"I hope you like the show."
I leaned back a little further into my seat. "So do I."
The show started a few moments later.
Billy was a natural lead singer. I don't mean that he just sounded good - he did- but I meant that he acted like it was his place. His calling. His energy took up twice as much room as his physical form. He clearly loved the attention... I silently hoped that he loved the music as much as he loved the attention.
I did everything in my power to split the rest of my attention equally between the band's different members and the crowd.
It was difficult. Graham had become such a distraction to me that I had trouble pulling my attention away from him. He seemed to notice me at some point, a grin pulling a little bit further on his lips. That was when I had to pretend to look down and take notes.
I hated feeling like this. I had spent so long thinking about the kiss that almost was that I couldn't even look at him without imagining what could have happened if I had let his lips touch mine.
I did everything in my power to focus on the performance itself.
And I did a pretty good job after a while.
It wasn't until I sat down to work on the actual review.
That's when I realized that Graham had been such a major distraction. I couldn't tell if it was annoying or if I was... comfortable. It was nice to have something... someone to think about that wasn't merely for my work.
It took ages to get the review done.
But once it was done, it was a piece of art.
I had always been careful with my work, but I hadn't been so meticulous in years. I could only hope that it did what I needed it to.
It would be a few days before I got a call from Graham Dunne again.
It was brief. I don't think I let him speak. I just told him to meet me where we met before.
He was waiting there when I showed up. I saw his eyes light up a bit when he spotted me. That made me nervous. When was the last time someone truly seemed that excited about seeing me?
I took a deep breath as I walked over.
"Hi," he said, standing up from the table.
"Hi," I replied, grinning at him. "You saw the review."
"I did," he nodded. "You really think we're that good?"
"I probably wouldn't meet you if I lied about it."
He stammered for a moment. "Y-You make a good point there."
I chuckled.
Our breakfast had an air hanging over it. A cloud of knowing and anticipation. It was strange for me. Both comforting and nerve-wracking.
But Graham had told me the truth.
He waited.
He waited to make any kind of move until we were back in that parking lot again, standing next to my car.
There had been a pause between us before he spoke up, "The review is out..."
"It is..."
He stepped forward, grinning a little more as his eyes jumped around to every part of my face. I took a deep breath, feeling the nervousness that had been in my stomach all day coming back in stronger waves.
When he went to lean in and close the remaining distance, I felt myself truly panic for the first time in years. I leaned back just a bit. Graham's eyebrows furrowed for a moment.
"You do this... I can't review anything else that your band does," I said. "You understand that, right?"
"I think we'll be fine," he replied. "Said it yourself, didn't you? We're a pretty talented group."
I chuckled. "I guess I did."
He grinned a little wider before leaning forward again. He pressed his lips to mine, moving to cup the sides of my face as he did so. I touched his arms as I kissed him back.
It was at this moment that everything seemed to fall into place.
I had spent a long time refusing to entertain things like this. I had been so focused on music and my career that I had stopped entertaining anything that I had truly wanted.
But this.
I wanted this.
I wanted to entertain this.
I leaned back first, grinning at him.
"That was nice," I mumbled to him.
"Yeah, it was," he replied.
I stepped away from him.
"What now?" he called as I made it to my car. "I... I just keep calling your office so I can take you to breakfast?"
I chuckled. "I'll be at your next show. We can talk more then."
He didn't respond.
"I'll see you then, Graham."
If he spoke up as I got in my car, then I didn't hear him. I would have listened a little closer if I hadn't been so focused on how fast my heart was still beating after that kiss.
I bit my lip.
What a strange and brilliant couple of days.

I think I know why Viva was added as a character outside of plot reasons for many-ia reasons but 2 stick out more importantly to me Camila Cabello is the voice actor for Viva, prior to starting her solo career she was in a girl group called Fifth Harmony. Now do what you want and call me a skeptic but one of their big starts was covering Justin Timberlake's song "Mirrors" in a record of cover artists. This helped propel their careers, and as we all know, justin was in *NSYNC so like... cmon, how could she not. In TBT there is a strong references to boy bands specifically those around the 90's and early 2000's and while there are a lot of girl groups that could have also been mentioned this movie wanted to focus on Branch. But featuring a ex- girl group member does help advance this theme of single gender bands. The other reason, is because this movie focuses on Branch and his brothers. It is very male heavy, sure it's broken up with V&V but during their songs the only person to break up the male voice monotony was Poppy. And to draw a paraell to one of my other hyperfixations Newsies, they made Kathrine a whole new character just to provide contrast to the VERY VERY male heavy cast. She was supposed to give us a diffrent voice to hear outside of all the male voices providing a harmony that diverted you attention and enhanced the preformance. AND THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT VIVA DOES! During Better Place you hear Viva singing Backup along with Poppy, but whenever you hear Camila sing your thoughts are immedityly pulled towards it to contextualize what you heard. and on relistens this only adds and enhances, but it makes the whole song better for it. They made Poppy purposely quieter as Anna, no offense to her, has a very prominent voice that draws itself to you, and the reason why Poppy couldn't be singing Viva's part is because
Poppy is supposed to be singing with Branch, they are a family and its so important that they sing on time with eachother and 2. Poppy singing Viva's part just isn't emotionally reasonable on a story stand part either, Viva is new, we've had backstory on her but not as much as the other brothers whose prioity is to be singing the perfect family harmony. Viva is still an outcast to the audience, we don't quite under stand her and we wont until after the movie and after some thought.
You physically can't put Poppy in Viva's role so they had to make a new one, they couldn't make it another boy as that would add to the monotiny, so a female, and it must be a singer with a distinct enough voice to Anna that it wouldn't get confusing. So probably after alot of searching they landed on Camila and the rest is histroy
