And the answer is surprisingly short. You just wish the barber hadn’t backed down and softened the line round the back to spare you from too much harassment.

Today is my 25th birthday and like Caesar, I too am having an existential crisis about not reaching the heights of Alexander the Great.

so it’s. it’s like. man this is so hard without my laptop.
alright so Crassus is a weird guy, existentially. There’s a tendency to speculate, assign, and insert him into whatever places are conspiratorial and shadowy because he fits into those narrative places with ease. My personal favorite (aside from all of it) is the idea that he may have pulled strings wrt to Sulla and Caesar’s conflict to help get Caesar out of it.

The Defeat of Rome: Crassus, Carrhae and the Invasion of the East, Gareth C. Sampson
In the universe that exists in my head, he definitely had a hand in it, but he didn’t really intend for Caesar to figure out he played a part in it, but Caesar’s good at puzzles, and noticing someone goes both ways. Binding someone to yourself goes both ways.
Tumblr media
Crassus: The First Tycoon, Peter Stothard
This scene takes place sometime relatively soon after Sulla’s death. Crassus has complicated feelings about it, Caesar less so. Veni, vidi, vici, baby!
Here’s a bonus thing that I keep thinking about with them.
Tumblr media
The Roman Revolution, Ronald Syme
like, utang na loob. and it is DEEP between them.

Gather my fellow countrymen for I have finally drawn the first entry of my outlaw retelling of Julius Caesar.
I’m really focusing on the time period after Caesar’s death with this story so Brutus and Cassius are loan sharks after being exiled from town because they killed the mayor…
“Brutus” is the one on the left. His horse is an American paint named Hector.
“Cassius” is on the right and his horse is a thoroughbred named Libertas.
All of the characters actually have completely different names effectively making them my ocs but I’ll refer to them as their ancient Roman counterparts until I have all of the names decided for certain lol.

I wish the legion civilian territories weren’t cut cause while it would not make them less deplorable on any aspect, a bit part of FNV is also the people that support the heads of the factions you can side with.
Like we see characters that sympathize with the legion or have seen how their territories are actually relatively peaceful due to how much control the legion exudes. Having whole towns point out “Hey this is like def a dictatorship but like we are kinda taken care of.” And how ideologies can easily be adopted or ignored IF the people with them still provide for their people. It’s why there’s still towns that hate the legion but also don’t want to be controlled by the NCR. Or legionaries that acknowledge the brutality of the legion but don’t leave.
An underlying theme is people simply wanting their basic needs met. So why is it not believeable that people would follow an objectively bad system if it does that?

Sorry about Cynthia also being here this is just a stupid AU that I wanted to put here. Making these swapped versions of these two was hard because avoiding them just looking like their ancestors was painfully difficult.
