Why is your spirit guide in a box
“It’s his summoning stone that’s in there”
He melted the lock enough to remove it, and opened the chest. Inside was a simple cape clip with a crescent design, the lighter half also having sun rays coming from it. The clip glowed for a second before an orange spiritual figure appeared
“Eclipse! Thank the stars you got out”

"Very much so, thank you." Sol smiled from beyond. Being a disembodied voice was weird, but he had experienced weirder. "I'm sure this will confirm a few theories Stellar's had for a while."
Sol: Ironically, I’m about to head to bed as I send this, but I can’t help my curiosity. Sombra, I should let you know that Stellar and I have always wondered how your magic truly works. If I’m not wrong, it differs quite a lot from normal Equestrian magic, and especially from my own magic. Any chance you could tell us, whether now or in the future?
Sombra: ah- hello...disembodied voice? um well, you're correct. Shadow magic is not naturally found in Equestria, Umbrums are a demonically evolved species. We're convergent to Kirins. Think of them as evolutional cousins.
Our magic is demonic in nature, and manifests in the ability to create and feed on fear to sustain us. Dark magic as it is known and practiced was made and developed by Umbrums long ago, if you're familiar with the Alicorn Amulet, that was made by an Umbrum sorcerer.
This question would be better suited for my older brother, Damien, he was always very rooted in our magic, or perhaps my younger brother Valin, he was well acquainted with our history. Alas, they are both...deceased now. Casualties of the Umbrum Eradication years ago... Ah but, I'm dwelling on the past. I hope I answered your question.

I FUCKING WON LMFAO had a second meeting with my boss where I coldly called out every bullshit thing she said and tacitly implied I knew what they were doing is illegal and it scared the piss out of her so much (it's a nonprofit they don't have the money to pay me compensation) we went from "uhmmm ermmm you're still in limbo for now with no paper evidence of anything BC the managers are very busy with everything and it takes time to budget for the job we might make for you and they have to meet with people about it and we're not giving you a termination notice until we know whether this job is viable or not" to "OKAY OKAY IM WRITING THE JOB DESCRIPTION" in less than 3 hours.
long story short I'm still employed, moving to a new role under a member of staff I get on really well with which will look good on my CV (I'm gonna build them some software, which is really good experience in the computer engineering side of my degree), and I've been promised a stellar reference for when I return to a solar role (at another company, fuck this place lmao).
I'm fucking exhausted it's been a day of 4d chess moves (at one point I got an emergency doctor's appointment to get signed off with stress for additional leverage, cancelled now I'm outta fuckin limbo) but lmfao I'm not being scapegoated. I'm still employed, I can continue looking for jobs with nothing questionable on my record. maybe let's not assume just because I'm a placid natured autistic youngster at my first career job I'm gonna take an illegal dismissal on the chin, yeah?

Stinkpump Linkdump
Tumblr media
Next Tuesday (December 5), I'm at Flyleaf Books in Chapel Hill, NC, with my new solarpunk novel The Lost Cause, which 350.org's Bill McKibben called "The first great YIMBY novel: perceptive, scientifically sound, and extraordinarily hopeful."b
Tumblr media
Once again, I greet the weekend with more assorted links than I can fit into my nearly-daily newsletter, so it's time for another linkdump. This is my eleventh such assortment; here are the previous volumes:
https://pluralistic.net/tag/linkdump/
I've written a lot about Biden's excellent appointees, from his National Labor Relations Board general counsel Jennifer Abruzzo to Consumer Financial Protection Bureau chair Rohit Chopra to FTC Chair Lina Khan to DoJ antitrust boss Jonathan Kanter:
https://pluralistic.net/2023/09/14/prop-22-never-again/#norms-code-laws-markets
But I've also written a bunch about how Biden's appointment strategy is an incoherent mess, with excellent appointees picked by progressives on the Unity Task Force being cancelled out by appointees given to the party's reactionary finance wing, producing a muddle that often cancels itself out:
https://pluralistic.net/2023/11/08/fiduciaries/#but-muh-freedumbs
It's not just that the finance wing of the Democrats chooses assholes (though they do!), it's that they choose comedic bunglers. The Dems haven't put anyone in government who's as much of an embarrassment as George Santos, but they keep trying. The latest self-inflicted Democratic Party injury is Prashant Bhardjwan, a serial liar and con-artist who is, incredibly, the Biden Administration's pick to oversee fintech for the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC):
https://www.americanbanker.com/news/did-the-occ-hire-a-con-artist-to-oversee-fintech
When the 42 year old Bhardjwan was named Deputy Comptroller and Chief Financial Technology Officer for OCC, the announcement touted his "nearly 30 years of experience serving in a variety of roles across the financial sector." Apparently Bhardjwan joined the finance sector at the age of 12. He's the Doogie Houser of Wall Street:
https://www.occ.gov/news-issuances/news-releases/2023/nr-occ-2023-31.html
That wasn't the only lie on Bhardjwan's CV. He falsely claimed to have served as CIO of Fifth Third Bank from 2006-2010. Fifth Third has never heard of him:
https://www.theinformation.com/articles/the-occ-crowned-its-first-chief-fintech-officer-his-work-history-was-a-web-of-lies
Bhardjwan told a whole slew of these easily caught lies, suggesting that OCC didn't do even a cursory background search on this guy before putting him in charge of fintech – that is, the radioactively scammy sector that gave us FTX and innumerable crypto scams, to say nothing of the ever-sleazier payday lending sector:
https://pluralistic.net/2023/05/01/usury/#tech-exceptionalism
When it comes to appointing corrupt officials, the Biden administration has lots of company. Lots of eyebrows went up when the UN announced that the next climate Conference of the Parties (COP) would be chaired by Sultan Ahmed Al-Jaber, who is also the chair of Dubai's national oil company. Then the other shoe dropped: leaks revealed that Al-Jaber had colluded with the Saudis to use COP28 to get poor Asian and African nations hooked on oil:
https://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-67508331
There's an obvious reason for this conspiracy: the rich world is weaning itself off of fossil fuels. Today, renewables are vastly cheaper than oil and there's no end in sight to the plummeting costs of solar, wind and geothermal. While global electrification faces powerful logistical and material challenges, these are surmountable. Electrification is a solvable problem:
https://pluralistic.net/2021/12/09/practical-visionary/#popular-engineering
And once we do solve that problem, we will forever transform our species' relationship to energy. As Deb Chachra explains in her brilliant new book How Infrastructure Works, we would only need to capture 0.4% of the solar radiation that reaches the Earth's surface to give every person on earth the energy budget of a Canadian (AKA, a "cold American"):
https://pluralistic.net/2023/10/17/care-work/#charismatic-megaprojects
If COP does its job, we will basically stop using oil, forever. This is an existential threat to the ruling cliques of petrostates from Canada to the UAE to Saudi. As Bill McKibben writes, this isn't the first time a monied rich-world industry that had corrupted its host governments faced a similar crisis:
https://billmckibben.substack.com/p/a-corrupted-cop
Big Tobacco spent decades fueling science denial, funneling money to sellout scientists who deliberately cast doubt on both sound science and the very idea that we could know anything. As Tim Harford describes in The Data Detective, Darrell Huff's 1954 classic How to Lie With Statistics was part of a tobacco-industry-funded project to undermine faith in statistics itself (the planned sequel was called How To Lie With Cancer Statistics):
https://pluralistic.net/2021/01/04/how-to-truth/#harford
But anything that can't go on forever will eventually stop. When the families of the people murdered by tobacco disinformation campaigns started winning eye-popping judgments against the tobacco industry, the companies shifted their marketing to the Global South, on the theory that they could murder poor brown people with impunity long after rich people in the north forced an end to their practice. Big Tobacco had a willing partner in Uncle Sam for this project: the US Trade Representative arm-twisted the world's poorest countries into accepting "Investor-State Dispute Settlements" as part of their treaties. These ISDS clauses allowed tobacco companies to sue governments that passed tobacco control legislation and force them to reverse their democratically enacted laws:
https://ash.org/what-is-isds-and-what-does-it-mean-for-tobacco-control/
As McKibben points out, the oil/climate-change playbook is just an update to the tobacco/cancer-denial conspiracy (indeed, the same think-tanks and PR agencies are behind both). The "Oil Development Sustainability Programme" – the Orwellian name the Saudis gave to their plan to push oil on poor countries – maps nearly perfectly onto Big Tobacco's attack on the Global South. Nearly perfectly: second-hand smoke in Indonesia won't give Americans cancer, but convincing Africa to go hard on fossil fuels will contribute to an uninhabitable planet for everyone, not just poor people.
This is an important wrinkle. Wealthy countries have repeatedly demonstrated a deep willingness to profit from death and privation in the poor world – but we're less tolerant when it's our own necks on the line.
What's more, it's far easier to put the far-off risks of emissions out of your mind than it is to ignore the present-day sleaze and hypocrisy of corporate crooks. When I quit smoking, 23 years ago, my doctor told me that if my only motivation was avoiding cancer 30 years from now, I'd find it hard to keep from yielding to temptation as withdrawal set in. Instead, my doctor counseled me to find an immediate reason to stay off the smokes. For me, that was the realization that every pack of cigarettes I bought was enriching the industry that invented the denial playbook that the climate wreckers were using to render our planet permanently unsuited for human habitation. Once I hit on that, resisting tobacco got much easier:
https://pluralistic.net/2021/06/03/i-quit/
Perhaps OPEC Secretary General Haitham Al-Ghais is worried about that the increasing consensus that Big Oil cynically and knowingly created this crisis. That would explain his new flight of absurdity, claiming that the world is being racist to oil companies, "unjustly vilifying" the industry for its role in the climate emergency:
https://www.cnbc.com/2023/11/27/opec-says-oil-industry-unjustly-vilified-ahead-of-climate-talks-.html
Words aren't deeds, but words have power. The way we talk about things makes a difference to how we act on those things. When discussions of Israel-Palestine get hung up on words, it's easy to get frustrated. The labels we apply to the rain of death and the plight of hostages are so much less important than the death and the hostages themselves.
But how we name the thing will have an enormous impact on what happens next. Take the word "genocide," which Israel hawks insist must not be applied to the bombing campaign and siege in Gaza, nor to the attacks on Palestinians in the West Bank. On this week's On The Media, Brooke Gladstone interviews Ernesto Verdeja, executive director of The Institute for the Study of Genocide:
https://www.wnycstudios.org/podcasts/otm/segments/genocide-powerful-word-so-why-its-definition-so-controversial-on-the-media
Verdeja lays out the history of the word "genocide" and connects it to the Israeli government and military's posture on Palestine and Palestinians, and concludes that the only real dispute among genocide scholars is whether the current campaign it itself an act of genocide, or a prelude to an act of genocide.
I'm not a genocide scholar, but I am a Jew who has always believed in Palestinian solidarity, and Verdeja's views do not strike me as outrageous, or (more importantly) antisemitic. The conflation of opposition to Israel's system of apartheid with opposition to Jews is a cheap trick, one that's belied by Israel itself, where there is a vast, longstanding political opposition to Israeli occupation, settlements, and military policing. Are all those Israeli Jews secret antisemites?
Jews are not united in support for Israel's oppression of Palestinians. The hardliners who insist that any criticism of Israel is antisemitic are peddling an antisemitic lie: that all Jews everywhere are loyal to Israel, and that we all take our political positions from the Knesset. Israel hawks only strengthen that lie when they accuse me and my fellow Jews of being "self-hating Jews."
This leads to the absurd circumstance in which gentiles police Jews' views on Israel. It's weird enough when white-nationalist affiliated evangelicals who support Israel in order to further the end-times prophesied in Revelations slam Jews for being antisemitic. But in Germany, it's even weirder. There, regional, non-Jewish officials charged with policing antisemitism have censured Jewish groups for adopting policies on Israel that mainstream Israeli political parties have in their platforms:
https://jewishcurrents.org/the-strange-logic-of-germanys-antisemitism-bureaucrats
Antisemitism is real. As Jesse Brown describes in his recent Canadaland editorial, there is a real and documented rise in racially motivated terror against Jews in Canada, including school shootings and a firebombing. Likewise, it's true that some people who support the Palestinian cause are antisemites:
https://www.canadaland.com/podcast/is-jesse-a-zionist-editorial/
But to stand in horror at Israel's military action and its vast civilian death-toll is not itself antisemitic. This is obvious – so obvious that the need to say it is a tribute to Israel hardliners – Jewish and gentile – and their ability to peddle the racist lie that Israel is Jews and Jews are Israel, and that every Jew is in support of, and responsible for, Israeli war-crimes and crimes against humanity.
One need not choose between opposition to Hamas and its terror and opposition to Israel and its bombings. There is no need for a hierarchy of culpability. As Naomi Klein says, we can "side with the child over the gun":
https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2023/oct/11/why-are-some-of-the-left-celebrating-the-killings-of-israeli-jews
Moral consistency is not moral equivalency. If you're a Jew like me who wants to work for an end to the occupation and peace in the region, you could join Jewish Voice For Peace (like me):
https://www.jewishvoiceforpeace.org
Now, for a jarring tone shift. In these weekend linkdumps, I put a lot of thought into how to transition from one subject to the next, but honestly, there's no good transition from Israel-Palestine to anything else (yet – though someday, perhaps). So let's just say, "word games can be important, but they can also be trivial, and here are a few of the latter."
Start with a goodie, from the always brilliant medievalist Eleanor Janeaga, who tackles the weirdos who haunt social media in order to dump on people with PhDs who call themselves "doctor":
https://going-medieval.com/2023/11/29/doctor-does-actually-mean-someone-with-a-phd-sorry/
Janega points out that the "doctor" honorific was applied to scholars for centuries before it came to mean "medical doctor." But beyond that, Janega delivers a characteristically brilliant history of the (characteristically) weird and fascinating tale of medieval scholarship. Bottom line, we call physicians "doctor" because they wanted to be associated with the brilliance of scholars, and thought that being addressed as "doctor" would add to their prestige. So yeah, if you've got a PhD, you can call yourself doctor.
It's not just doctors; the professions do love their wordplay. especially lawyers. This week on Lowering The Bar, I learned about "a completely ludicrous court fight that involved nine law firms that combined for 66 pages of briefing, declarations, and exhibits, all inflicted on a federal court":
https://www.loweringthebar.net/2023/11/federal-court-ends-double-spacing-fight.html
The dispute was over the definition of "double spaced." You see, the judge in the case told counsel they could each file briefs of up to 100 pages of double-spaced type. Yes, 100 pages! But apparently, some lawyer burn to write fat trilogies, not mere novellas. Defendants accused the plaintiffs in this case of spacing their lines a mere 24 points apart, which allowed them to sneak 27 lines of type onto each page, while defendants were confined to the traditional 23 lines.
But (the court found), the defendants were wrong. Plaintiffs had used Word's "double-spacing" feature, but had not ticked the "exact double spacing" box, and that's how they ended up with 27 lines per page. The court refused to rule on what constituted "double-spacing" under the Western District of Tennessee’s local rules, but it ruled that the plaintiffs briefs could fairly be described as "double-spaced." Whew.
That's your Saturday linkdump, jarring tone-shift and all. All that remains is to close out with a cat photo (any fule kno that Saturday is Caturday). Here's Peeve, whom I caught nesting most unhygienically in our fruit bowl last night. God, cats are gross:

Well, here’s the death y’all ordered
Trigger warnings (in the tags but just in case): Abuse, suicide, death
——
He was tired, although that wasn’t unfamiliar anymore. He stared at the battery percent in the corner of his vision. 5%. That felt like too much, he wanted to rest again. He couldn’t remember what walking felt like, he frowned as he stared with his single eye at his long broken and detached legs.
“… I won’t be free” Solar whispered to himself. His voice crackled, his voice box having not been used in a long time. He knew it was likely pointless to hang on any longer, but a small, small part of him held on hope. Yet he also figured no one would help, even if they find him they’d leave him because he’d be too much trouble.
He heart light footsteps in the hall past the door. Human, and not a staff member he remembered. He tried shouting, but all that came from his voice box was static. Pointless.
Solar waited for his battery to run out, and when he woke up waited again. It was the most consistent way to keep himself low energy and asleep. Charging too much would give him energy he wouldn’t move to get rid of and make it hard to sleep.
Solar wiped some oil off his face, his head had been bleeding oil since Lunar hit him yesterday.
I could light it a small part of him remembered. His right hand and mouth had their fire shooters and were still intact.
“I don’t want to die… not yet” he clung to the piece of hope that kept him from setting the closet ablaze. He tried moving his left arm, the mostly detached part below the elbow dangling uselessly. He needed so many repairs, and he couldn’t even tell what his face might need. He rubbed his face again, failing to wipe away the oil tears running down it among the rest of it already on his face.
——
It had been two days, something Solar only knew from his internal clock. Solar could hear footsteps approaching the closet door. This time he recognized the steps though. Lunar. It was after hours, no kids would be around to notice her actions.
“Hello brother” Lunar’s sickly sweet voice rang in his ears. She used to sound much harsher towards him, but he knew she was just mocking him now.
Solar chose not to speak, maybe if he didn’t react she’d leave him alone. Wishful thinking really.
“Quiet? That’s disappointing.” Solar involuntary yelped as he felt an electric shock run through him. He used to resist those, but it had been so long. The yell came out mostly as crackling noises from his voice box.
“There we go!” Lunar made her wide smile clear as her eyes almost sparkled with joy. She pulled her hands away, showing off the tasers installed into them.
“They’re really neat, and much better than that fire of yours for intruders” Lunar taunted him with charging up a shock in her hands but doing nothing with it, making him constantly fear when she would hurt him with it. The third time was when she shocked him, getting a clearer yell as his voice box was more active.
Solar’s body attempted to curl into a ball, but it didn’t do much. All he could really do was protect his remaining eye with his remaining arm. His eye was covered, but he felt a powerful pain to the top of his head and heard the crack of his faceplate.
He felt Lunar grab his head and turn it almost completely around. He felt a harsh punch right near his ai chip, reminding him how easily she could end his life.
Things won’t get better Solar felt dread from it but.. really what else could he think at this point? He couldn’t move, he couldn’t scream for help, Lunar would just hurt him and leave him to rot in the closet.
I’m not powering off to wake back up to this he couldn’t deal with this. The loneliness, the pain, the betray, everything. His mind tuned out Lunar’s mockery, but she seemed to grow more agitated as she noticed that.
“You really should listen, it’s not like you have anything more interesting to do” She smiled, showing off little sparks of electricity and wiping some oil off her hands onto her dress, it was a worn out one anyways so she didn’t worry about the mess.
Solar decided to wait, endure the pain as he slightly formed a plan. One he wouldn’t be getting out of, but Lunar wouldn’t either.
He felt his left arm be completely severed by a knife Lunar had kept in the room, he could hear sparks from the few wires that held it before. He did his best to not speak or scream, he’s need to focus to do this. He wasn’t even sure if he could anymore, but he had to try.
A fist through his back, oil splattering everywhere. Solar couldn’t even describe the pain, the only solace being the short numbing feeling after. Sitting hurt even more now, be he stayed like this.
He waited until she got closer to him to hurt him again. His last hope was to take her down with him, and that’s what he was going to do.
He opened his mouth and let out a medium sized blast of fire. It wasn’t much compared to what he used to be able to do, but it did its job just as fast.
All the oil in the room soon caught fire, including all that was on Lunar. His sister ran out of the room screaming. A shame he wouldn’t see if he succeeded. The flames were a warmth he hadn’t felt in a long time. He was so hurt and numb the burns didn’t seem all that bad. His casing melting was excruciating with his fire resistant casing making it last so long. Even with the resistance, there was only so much it could do under constant fire.
He could tell the fire was spreading throughout the building, he could hear the collapses and waited for his surprisingly strong closet to do the same.
He was trapped under a fallen beam from the ceiling, it didn’t change much. Even without the beam he couldn’t have moved.
He closed his eyes a final time as he felt the burning break through his protective casing and reach his ai chip.

Note
Now I’m just imagining CV Solar getting mad at SAMS Solar because how dare he not try to have some kind of bond with his son
Considering Solar doesn’t even want his son to become sentient, but still acknowledges it as a possibility and does absolutely nothing to foster any kind of bond in case it does happen, yeah he counts until further notice
Yeah I suppose that’s fair

How would demon infero react if he saw the baby blood demons attempting to sneak up on him (while being very much visible)
I don’t think he’s adopted a set of his own. He’ll play along like a mama cat. Let them “sneak up on him” and attack him, followed by an exaggerated jump and playing dead for a moment, before offering them some of milk with blood mixed in.
If it’s Demon Blue Moon’s kids, then he’ll ask them where their dad is, he’s probably very worried? And then he’ll take them to Demon Vim’s house.
If it’s Demon CV Solar’s set, he’ll give them a sniff before giving them the milk, then ask where their parents are. And then he’ll have to go on a quest to seek out a mystery fire demon who he’s never met before to return the lost children.
If it’s an unclaimed pair of twins, he’ll give them a sniff, determine that they’re orphans, and give them milk mixed with his blood. Then he’ll just take them home. His babies now.

Act 005 Do Better
Pretty Guardian ✶ Sailor Moon
Characters: Original Characters, Canon Characters-mentioned Rating: Teen, Older Teen Genre: Angst, Action, Fantasy/Magical Girl Song: “Starting Over” Originally from Final Fantasy XIII-2
Disclaimer: I do not own Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon, just my interpretation of the Zodiac Senshi, Sailor Phoenix and Sailor Ophiuchus.
✦✶✦
Losing ground, losing myself, Darkness comes alive I find myself at night and In daytime I hold on
✦✶✦
She started over and over.  One time it was because of her sister getting bullied out of primary school.  The second time was because her sister’s dream high school was in the Juuban area.  She was the golden child of the family, and there was nothing the girl could do about it.  She had to go with the flow.  It was not as if she made many friends either.  Her nose was stuck in a book or playing video games over the years.
She watched as her mother fawned over her older sister’s achievements, but only ever told her younger daughter, Emiko, that her achievements were merely “acceptable”.  Emiko tried reminding her parents that she should get rewards like her sister does for each of her own achievements.  However, they either could not afford it at the time, or they were running late and the store closed before they got home.  Sometimes, Emiko was told she had to surpass her sister or “do better”, but it seemed nigh impossible.
Her sister graduated with amazing grades in her subjects.  She was the Valedictorian in her year, while Emiko was maybe in fourth or third place.  Her sister went to private schools, while the family only had enough money to send Emiko to public schools.  It just was not fair, but there was nothing Emiko could do but come in last place for her parents and her sister.  If she got a terrible grade, she was punished, but if her sister got a terrible grade, her sister was told she should study more and that she tried her best.
Emiko merely held in her sigh when she was told that the parents found a good school for her older sister.  She wanted to go to whatever this academy was too, but her parents only saved enough for her sister to go.  Her sister wanted everyone to be proud of her, while Emiko wanted nothing to do with her family.  It would mean they were moving, and Emiko could not attend the middle school of her dreams.  She had wanted to board at the school just to get away from her neglectful and troublesome family.
Her family were not the only ones that sung her older sister's praises.  It was nearly everyone in a given area.  From teachers and important members of the town or village’s political climate, Emiko was stuck hearing her sister’s achievements and praises.  She would have to tell her sister their regards, and she did, diligently.  However, she hated doing so.
She had to do better.  So, she foregone friends and family outings to study and attend extra classes to get better scores than her sister.  She had to do better.  So, she attended various clubs and extracurriculars for her future resume and CV.  She had to do better.  So, she volunteered her time at various shelters.  She had to do better.  Until she could not decide what to do.
Emiko was deciding what to do to finally get the recognition she felt she deserved when she noticed a store had opened up.  There was a huge sale.  The sales were on items for more than fifty percent, which was strange coming from a store opening sale.  She was wary of the shop, but it seemed to have tantalizing specials on plants.  Perhaps…
She shook her head.  It was best she did not, because most of the time these sales were perpetuated by a henchman from an enemy beyond that of the solar system.  There was a little voice in the back of her head telling her would it be nice if her sister fell victim to one of those scams?  She took a deep breath, trying to determine when her bus would arrive.
Wouldn’t it be better if she was out of your hair?
Her eyes widened at the small voice getting gradually louder.
Wouldn’t it be better if you were the golden child instead?
She was horrified.
Admit it, you just want her gone!
She clapped her hands over her ears to try to quiet this inner voice.
“That isn’t true!” she called.  However, her eyes widened when other students waiting for the bus home glanced over at her outburst.  She nodded, apologetically, and kept her head down.
What on earth was going on?  She must have been tired.  When was the bus going to get here?  She checked her cellphone again only to discover her reflection was smiling back at her.
Admit it, the reflection moved her lips to form the words but no words came out.  Emiko dropped her phone in fear.  The students waiting for the bus with her glanced at her again.  One of the boys picked up her phone and handed it back to her.
“Thank you,” Emiko said, and immediately pocketed her phone without another glance at it.  She must have been tired from cram school.
Yeah, that had to be it.  She glanced at the store again.
Still, she should take advantage of the sale should she not?  Then, again she should not.  It would be an obvious scan but maybe she could give her sister a good scare?  She balled her hands into fists and bit her bottom lip.
Nah, the sale would not be up much longer anyways.
Except, it was not.  The sale had been up for more than a week.  The voice in the back of her mind was getting louder with every day.
One day she had taken the bus, and decided to purchase one of the items on sale for her perfect sister…

The Fiat X1/9 arrived on the market to take over from another convertible that is a true design wonder, the Fiat 850 Spider. Although small, the Fiat 850 Spider had very fine design details, such as the rigid cover for the convertible top, the subtlety of the sloping headlights almost like a Miura with which, by the way, it shared the rear lights. The Fiat X1/9 had a very long life, being produced until 1989 and with a production run of around 160,000 examples, most of which were registered in the US. It's not quite clear how the hell the Fiat finally got the green light. this mid-engined two-seater designed by Gandini for Bertone, in fact, its name gives us a clue to the haste with which it was finally decided to launch it on the market. Fiat X1/9, what the hell does that mean?... it's just the code name of the model project.
The truth is that the name also gave a certain futuristic touch to a car that had lines that would be inspiration for other models, such as the Triumph TR7, with some very peculiar shapes that in a way were also to blame for some of its criticisms and is that, for many, the Fiat X1/9 was a car with very attractive lines and the appearance of a kilometer-consuming car, but with the 75 CV engine of a simple Fiat 128.
This construction meant that the Fiat X1/9 had a weight distribution of 47% of the mass in the front axle and 53% in the rear, a trunk in the front where the removable targa roof could be stored and another luggage rack behind the mid-engine, on the small rear overhang. With a weight of around 850 kg (in 1978 it gained another 75 kg when the 85 CV 1.5 engine with the 5-speed gearbox was introduced), a good suspension scheme and precise steering, the Fiat X1/9 had a driving that immediately caught the attention of the testers of the time, who lamented that it did not have more power. The interior received good reviews, with a very futuristic design, well-designed seats and a driving position that invited you to drive it sportily. Over the years it became clear that the quality of the dashboard plastics was not the best, quite prone to cracking in a car in which, moreover, they are highly exposed to solar radiation and temperature changes.

My black candle’s flame was always low and frail.
2:22 told me everything before you even opened your mouth.
I ground and cleanse myself after you.
I cut the cord and ask the universe for a sign.
Is there someone else? By The Weeknd starts playing.
Night came and your car was on fire.
A few nights later baby cries, glass breaking, and what I think was a gunshot.
Oh let’s not forget the footsteps on my roof.
And now the most painful revelation of them all, you compromised my health and well being.

I cannot stress this enough. Trust your motherfucking intuition! Trust your body. Trust your knowledge of life! There is patterns and signs everywhere that scream at you to be acknowledged. Listen!
I’ll give you a simple example.
If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck… guess what?
I heard something some time ago. This man said, “trust people. Trust that people are going to be people. Trust that the politician is going to fulfill that role. Trust that the thief is going to steal.” Trust the patterns.
Believe the narcissist 😈
