I've been watching Call The Midwife for going on 14 years this coming year.

That doesn't sound like much until I say the first year of the show was set in 1957.

Season 14 will complete in 1970.

I've seen these characters go through at least three total societal shifts and season 14 is not the last season so there will be more.

Watching characters age and change this much is a gift and also so unique.

HAPPY 4TH ANNIVERSARY THSC!!!

It may seem like I'm new to this fandom, but I'm not. I got super into thsc about 4 years ago (which is when it released), and kinda had fun with it. Unfortunately, I don't have the history that some people have with this game, and that does make me kinda sad, but I'm glad to be here anyway!

I hope that I continue to fixate on this fandom for weeks in the future. I'm just having that much fun!

4 years is crazy. I can hold that on one hand, man.

I do have some extra stuff to share as well. For example, my oc's trying to celebrate the anniversary.

And failing. Carter dropped the cake. XD

It's okay, though. Devin is making him feel better with terrible puns and jokes.

I know that Call the Midwife gets a little more cheesy and a little more on the nose each year...but it's good cheese and some issues need to be smacked on the nose with a rolled up newspaper.

And every episode still has heart. Still makes you feel. Because it's always about people being people.

I rolled my eyes at the completely unsubtle romance they shoved in for Nancy (and what do you mean 'one day I'm gonna tell you I love you'??? It's been one date, lad!) but also cried at that convict saying goodbye to his mum.

I know, at some point, they really aren't going to be able to continue the show. But until then I'm going to get my annual dose of real human emotions from watching it.

Also the Turner family continues to give me warm fuzzies and it's so cute that the kids we've watched growing up in this show now have plots and lines, Phyllis Crane is still the greatest person who has ever existed, I hope Trixie's plane never leaves (clearly she's gonna be back for some episodes, from the preview), I'm glad Reggie is back for some episodes and I wonder if we'll see Tim for any at all, I hope that man who has it in for Sister Jullienne steps on a lego and then chokes and dies how dare he (but are we going to get new, more relaxed habits for the nuns to make them more approachable?), I genuinely forgot that Sister Veronica was midwife trained and not just a social worker, the Cyril and Rosalind plot is obvious but I wonder how they will handle the Lucille of it all, Miss Higgins and her grandson bonding is so sweet (even with how heartbreaking it was to see her find and lose her son)...and, well, here's to the show making me cry with some character who has like 15 minutes of screen time for another season!

CTA & CTN!

Years back, we coined the terms CTF & CTM at request of intersex friends. Since then, we have seen those terms take off, which we are so happy about! Now, we wish to coin two new terms - CTN (Close-To-Neutral) and CTA (Close-To-Androgynous.)

(PS - Please read and reblog our intersex guide! It is so important to educate yourself and others about the intersex spectrum and intersex bodies!)

Both of the flags are based on the CTF & CTM flags. Pink is for potential feminine sex traits, blue is for potential masculine sex traits, purple is for potential androgynous sex traits, grey is for potential neutral sex traits, and white is for the gender spectrum (representing how intersex people can have any gender.) Black represents intersex individuals that have suffered from genital mutilation, reproductive mutilation, or hormone abuse. Yellow is for the intersex community as a whole.

For the CTA flag, the purple circle represents how androgyny is the focus. For the CTN flag, the green circle represents how neutrality is the focus.

CTA/Close-To-Androgynous

CTA/Close-To-Androgynous is a term for an intersex person that was born with mostly androgynous sex traits, rather than "feminine" or "masculine" sex traits being the majority.

They might still have feminine, masculine, or neutral sex traits, however androgynous sex traits take up the majority.

Androgynous sex traits can include the following:

-Having ambiguous genitals. -Having ovotestes. -Having a combination of a uterus and prostate, or a uterus and testicles. -Having a combination of X & Y chromosomes that are higher than typical (XXY, XXYY, etc.) -Having an equal split of feminine and masculine sex traits.

The CTA flag.

CTN/Close-To-Neutral

CTN/Close-To-Neutral is a term for an intersex person that was born with mostly neutral sex traits, rather than "feminine" or "masculine" sex traits being the majority.

They might still have feminine, masculine, or androgynous sex traits, however neutral sex traits take up the majority.

Neutral sex traits can include the following:

-Being on the agenital spectrum. -Having gonadal agenesis or streak gonads. -Having cervical hypoplasia or cervical agenesis. -Having uterine hypoplasia or MRKH Syndrome/WNT4 syndrome. -Having low levels of sex hormones (hypoestrogenism/hypoandrogenism.) -Having low responsivity to sex hormones (estrogen insensitivity & androgen insensitivity.) -Having less than two sex chromosomes (for example, Turner Syndrome.)
