I know I said this already, but fujimoto making all of the horsemen women is why he’s close to getting a 10 from me (and men never get 10s from me). war devil, control devil (?), death devil, and the famine devil. even when they reincarnate it’s always into a female host. no other male writer would have done that. very excited to see what he does with the death devil after reading chapter 196. and horsemen aside, his female cast is so goated. asa and quanxi and kobeni and power and makima and himeno- very rare instance of a female cast outshining the male cast in the shounen genre….. fujimoto wants to get pegged so bad…….!

It's just an extremely pessimistic version of the control devil trying to save when all she knows is how to dominate.

the great thing about csm part 2 is that it actually addresses ""collateral damage"" which so many stories don't do to this extent, and its even better after part 1 didn't either. you get all of this main-character-centric tragedy, and all of these huge crazy fights- but when everything winds down, there was tragedy everywhere beyond the main plot- and a lot of it was caused in part by the main characters and their huge crazy fights as well. and this is probably bc of asa being the mc this part but csm is such a human story aaaa

If she really is Death I like that they subverted what you think death should look like. Death does not need to be intimidating, strong, or cruel because at the end of the day you will eventually die regardless. Even if she is the most girlfailure of all time, she can hide in her room out of fear and she will still get you.

vague & insubstantial thoughts but the new chapter further validates my feelings wrt the yuko arc acting as a sort of part 2 blueprint? the allusions to yuko (in regards to the new fakesaw man invoking "justice") are very apparent but i do especially like the framing of him as some sort of action hero, marching in with "a heart that burns to right wrongs." both the burning of yuko's bonfire & attached, her "we're kind of like manga main characters", "like (two) avenging angels of death", can be read into the tropes surrounding his introduction.

aside from this, i'm particularly fond of how her words during the bonfire chapters — of "saving" <you> are echoed in both the part 2 horsemen's introductions. she says "just like chainsaw man." both kiga & death announce themselves with similar offers, fami's saving offsetting yuko's & death's set in an almost comic fashion next to fakesaw's heroship.
