I’ve come across the “amy has an incest kink” line several times and it baffles me so much… the first time I saw it I hadn’t read worm yet, just knew a little bit about it secondhand, and wanted to make a joke along the lines of “hey it’s not very nice to amy to imply that she’s attracted to victoria for her sister role instead of who she is as a person 😔” but having read all the way up to arc 18 it actually stuns me how amy never once openly thinks of or refers to victoria in sexual terms — it’s always framed as this kind of indistinct hopeless adoration, or obsessive romantic fervor, but it’s never explicitly sexual. her desire to touch manifests as hugging, holding — never kissing. (unless that happens later, but I’m guessing it doesn’t, and I think it’s still significant that it doesn’t happen at any of the major climactic moments for them.) this isn’t to say I don’t think there are sexual feelings there, but they’re clearly terrifying or shameful enough to be buried even deeper than the rest of it.

overall it’s this fascinating war between purity and disgust raging in amy’s head: the love she defends is a chaste, idealized sort, but she finds it impossibly filthy at the same time not because of her own desire, but because of the context it exists in. she wants victoria to be her sister and she wants victoria to be her love — the dissonance there isn’t appealing to her, it tears her apart. all the more because victoria can never be her real sister (not by blood relation rules) and can never be her real love (because amy’s feelings will never truly be returned). it’s called perpetual unfulfillment, and nothing about it is sexy to her. I cannot stress enough how much this is not sexy to her.

i have a counter argument to the 'only one person can boop bill' thing, mabel. she's the type of person to slap stickers on people, she would definitely be the type to also boop others occasionally and bill would be no exception. she probably doesn't do it to annoy bill like dipper would, but maybe as a form of a friendly gesture, kind of like those people who will lightly punch friends in the arm when they hang out.

You know what? Good point. Mabel would get away with more than most, as a fun-loving lady! Bill understands those impulses, and being a touchy person! He indulges in similar ones himself.

Though when Bill's not in the mood to be playful and gets booped anyway? The 'sister-in-law' status grants her considerable grace.

It happened...the one movie I really, TRULY cared about when it came to this year's Oscars (two if you include Barbie winning Best Original Song), How Do You Live/The Boy and the Heron FUCKING WON BEST ANIMATED FEATURE!!!!!

Not only did it, against all odds, beat out the front runner, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse but it did so with VERY little fanfare from the audience. Of the nominees, it was Across The Spider-Verse that got the most applause from the room, so when Hayao Miyazaki won his SECOND Oscar (and possibly his last), the lack of cheers from the audience was music to my ears. They REALLY wanted Across The Spider-Verse to win, but all the haters and whiners can SUCK IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT!!!

Not only is this the SECOND Oscar Miyazaki has gotten, but it's also the SECOND anime movie to win the award, the second 2D film to ever win it, and it's also the first PG-13 animated film to win. If this was indeed Miyazaki's final film, it's safe to say he went out WITH A FUCKING BANG and made his mark on America once again.

Congrats once again to How Do You Live/The Boy and the Heron for winning not only the Golden Globe for Best Animated Feature but also the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. With the additions of being the first PG-13 animated film to win, the second anime movie, and the second 2D animated film being some sprinkles on top.

I’m just gonna come out and say it… Byler’s best scene has gotta be the rain fight. It just is. It’s arguably Finn and Noah’s best performance for their characters’ dynamic. It has everything. Repression. Instant regret. Groveling. Heartbreak. Devastation.

Me, rewatching the rain fight to feel something that is akin to every single feeling one experiences after watching a masterful feature length romance, only in this case it’s all happening in one single scene:
