if your favourite driver is Lewis Hamilton...then i would recommend Carrie Soto is Back by Taylor Jenkins Reid

(historical sports fiction, standalone) "Carrie Soto, a fierce and determined retired tennis champion, comes out of retirement at thirty-seven to reclaim her record and face personal challenges, coached by her father partnered with the man she almost opened her heart to, in Taylor Jenkins Reid's novel about the cost of greatness and a legendary athlete's epic comeback."

the connection between this book and lewis is what inspired this whole post in the first place. a comeback story even if you have proven all there is to be proven? trying to beat all the odds against you even time? being an all-time champion AND an underdog? there are so many links that can be made between carrie and lewis not just with their careers and relationships but also what adversities they have had to face. idk but is this like manifesting that lewis is going to be "back" for his 8th wdc?

if your favourite driver is George Russell...then i would recommend A Good Girl's Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson

ah mr wannabe investigator (we all saw him checking out that redbull) but seriously there's something we grussell sprouts must enjoy about someone who seems so straight-laced and uptight be absolutely blatantly unhinged both on and off track. it's just so george to choose literal murder inquiry as a school project, from the ambition bordering on arrogance of believing a high schooler could do what the authorities couldn't to the genuine heartfelt sincerity in wanting the truth and to bring justice for those already deemed outcasts by society. he's OUR good girl that's not-so-secretly "bad".

my faves with my faves. mercedes aren't a national institution/emotion (ferrari), a team (red bull racing), a villains' lair (ashton martin) or a pop band (mclaren) but a family. a dysfunctional, awkward, barely concealed hot mess of a family, but family nonetheless. chasing victory while trying to survive the horrors of life and each other is the merc way and you will see the same in this trilogy. *toto voice* loyalty!

wow guys i don't know what to tell you except oscar JACK piastri, SON of nicole and chris piastri, might literally be percy JACKSON (i have connected the dots, you haven't connected shit). your guy might have had a former illustrious career in undertaking dangerous quests and asking greek gods to pay child support, you should check.

if your favourite driver is Lando Norris...then i would recommend Magnolia Parks by Jessa Hastings

(adult contemporary romance, check tws, book 1 of an ongoing series) "In 'Magnolia Parks' by Jessa Hastings, a tumultuous love story unfolds between the beautiful and self-involved London socialite Magnolia Parks and Britain's notorious bad-boy BJ Ballentine, as they grapple with a dysfunctional relationship marked by heartbreak, secrets, and the enduring pull they feel towards each other."

picked this based on vibes, just pure vibes but immaculate ones. the drama, the glitz, the glam yes but also the family, friendship, and love found within the pages of this series. this is british gossip girl. i am telling you there is a vision here people.

(+ bonus review because this might be the only book on this list that has less (3.84) than 4+ stars on goodreads and i can't do him and y'all dirty like that: i personally didn't love the first book but the series really comes together and you truly get invested in these characters and their happiness, actually pretty excited to read more.

wow like you think he didn't step out of a magical retelling of 1001 nights? mhm but let's leave aside the fact i am still not convinced otherwise. carlos this year has shown his insane mega ultra galaxy brain, so i believe the plot of the wrath & the dawn would be something that would resonate with you. the quick wit and guile of the mc as she tries to carry out a revenge plot while trying to not get executed is only comparable to carlos coming up with his own race strategy mid race and cementing himself as the only non-rbr race winner in 2023. wow.

if your favourite driver is Charles Leclerc...then i would recommend The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller

(historical romance fantasy, standalone) "The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller is an Iliad retelling, focusing on the deep and complex relationship between Achilles and Patroclus."

he has that sadness in his eyes that you only see in tragic greek myths etc etc. i will have to say, achilles walked so charles leclerc could race. *soft longing sigh* il predestinato and aristos achaion, the predestined and the best of the greeks. beloveds born and bathed in golden light. it just makes sense to me.

i mean alex is a living-breathing romance novel of a man. BUT it hasn't always been sunshine and rainbows (helmut marko if i catch you). so i think any emily henry book but especially beach read captures the ups and downs of alex's journey so well compared to just any ole romcom (...but if i had to give one for the alex enjoyers then it would be Better Than the Movies by Lynn Painter, coincidentally also george and alex coded lmao).

but was it his remarkable drive back to f1 or the recent holiday beach pics that was the reason behind this rec? i guess we will never know

Can I rant here once in a while?

So i got invited to a certain ship gc and it was a specific ship gc so i thought "oh fine we'll be talking about this ship!" but as i waited and i even sent something there about the ship, no one bats an eye nor even talked about it?? Some people who are active there just talk about ANYTHING and EVERYTHING except the ship when someone had sent stuff. I'm actually fine with a specific group chat talking about other things like the grussell gc i'm in also talks about books/other drivers/etc but the focus remains GEORGE

But this group isn't. There are several people who i suspect don't even like that ship who just got in for the sake of talking. Like i get it that you want to make friends but at least try to stick to the topic? Like no one talks about the topic there when i thought it was a safe space. It pisses me off further that there are this number of people who treat that group as some sort of personal chat. Like if you want to talk about the things that only you and your niche understand then don't talk it out at a public group where others are in?? It pisses me off so bad.

I'm sorry if this comes out as me being an asshole. I don't want to stop people from talking about what they like but I'm a bit icked by how some people who don't even like specific things enter specific groups just to "talk" about other things. Specific group chats exist so we talk about specific things as the main topic, not you and your "friends" niche interest...

I followed Jo since before she started her slay and pray series and damn did I love her then. Her content was just so refreshing. No her voice grinds my gears and I roll my eyes when shit about her comes on my tl. I'm inclined to believe that she did call people in the motorsport community cunts because her private stories were so complainy when she used to post on them and oh boy did she complain. Never takes accountability either. On twt of tiktok. It's always "omg haha it was just a joke guys" or "omg I didn't know" even after people told her something and then just deleted the tweet. Also her claiming content from other creators on tt? Yeah I also believe that because she claimed when she first got on twt that she turned all the George fans into George fans and that she created the name grussell sprouts. Which she did neither.

Now George and Max? This entire situation could've been avoided if they talked it out privately and Max didn't go on a tirade in the press conference. Was he asked about it directly? Yes but his answer could've been something entirely different.

I think George also expected to sort this out quietly because this was part of his response today.

Now Max is entitled to whatever opinion he wants everyone is entitled to that but calling George a two faced bitch or something along those lines just shows me he was not ready for George to actually fight against him lol.

Oh and Max's statements are starting to sound a lot like Valentino Rossi's words in 2015 (and beyond) but one thing George is not gonna do? Stay silent. He's gonna do the opposite of Marc and actually be confrontational.

Mercedes PR generally won't let this get too back and forth unless the integrity and character attacks keep happening then it's free rein for all.

These two in a championship fight is gonna give us all the chaos and drama we deserve frankly.

and it’s always the oddest drivers like alex? been there done that. charles? maybe but it would go down to the wire. the only viable option is lewis and even then… idk. alonso is also good but max is faster at this point in time imo. like daniel ricciardo isn’t winning a wdc against max in 2023, he could barely keep up in 2018 when he was a better driver and max was a worse driver than now. i saw people say piastri of all people who’s still not as fast as lando in race trim, like come on

charles is a better driver than carlos but he has not convincingly beat his teammates the way max has crushed his, (and I'm not counting flop era sebttel). so I can't say with certainty charles will come into that redbull where max has driven his whole life and immediately take max down to the wire

lewis is pushing 40 and was neck and neck with grussell in 22. he's an excellent driver but this is a driver pairing that's never happening simply bc lewis in rbr and max in merc are not neutral positions, which renders this thought experiment useless.

as for piastri it's still too soon to say, he's young and needs to get his rookie mistakes out and get one over lando first

max is in the best form and best car rn, whoever is beating him in the same car needs not only a few years in the car/team to acquaint but also the car becoming worse/max entering his flop era

A = Attention (How much attention do they pay to you? And how much attention do they require?)

George Russell is the type of guy who is constantly paying attention to everything that you do. He is enamoured with you and thus finds himself watching everything you do.

On the other hand, he's like a golden retriever. He needs to know that your watching what he does and paying attention to him every time you're in the same room or in close vicinity. He craves your attention and gets really proud when he sees you watching him.

B = Before (What were they like before they asked you out?)

George Russell was the type of guy who was stressing over everything before he eventually asked you out. Sitting reasonably close to you, his heart started racing and he had to carefully plan his every movement to not make you feel uncomfortable. You grab and hold his hand? Play it cool George Russell, play it cool, this is what normal people do, don't make it weird. It even got to the point where he would get stuck in his own head and wouldn't even realise you were speaking to him.

C = Comfort (How would they help their partner when they feel down/have a panic attack? Etc.)

George Russell is the type of guy who gives the best hugs. Yes, he looks like a toothpick in his outfits, but the boy has muscle and some squish to his beanpole self. Will he check you're okay with being hugged? Absolutely. Will he undoubtedly pull you into his arms when he senses your upset? Of fucking course he will. No crying whilst he's around, Mr Satudray will not allow it. Unless of course you genuinely need a good cry over something then he is sitting right next to you handing you tissue after tissue.

George Russell is the type of guy who knows exactly what he wants in his future. Does he know it down to the minuscule detail? No, he does not. But does it include yes? Yes, it does.

He wants the mornings when he wakes up in bed next to you. He wants the late nights when the two of you are absolutely shattered but can't help but stay awake to talk to the other.

He wants it all.

George Russell is the type of guy who would call you a piece of fruit in what he would think is a romantic way.

"You are the apples to my oranges" he would say to you, even though apples and oranges are completely different and the only correlation that they have between them is that they are both fruits.

George Russell was the type of guy who didn't realise he was in love with you until everyone else around him pointed it out. And it wasn't even that he was denying it, he was just oblivious to acknowledging his feelings.

Did he know he liked spending time with you? Yes. Did he also like all the little things about you that he would talk about for days on end without realising until someone pointed it out? Yes. But did he realise that it was called love? No.

It took at least eight different people to point out that he was in love with you before he acknowledged that maybe he loved you and from then on it was just a roller-coaster of emotions.

G = Gifts (How do they feel about gift giving? What are their habits when it comes to this?)

George Russell is the type of guy who would spoil you with gifts at every opportunity.

Would they always be expensive ones? No. But he would always be on the lookout for anything that he knows you like or stuff relating to your current interests or hobbies.

And it became a habit that he would get you something from each race weekend, even if it was a terrible one for him or you were there with him.

H = holding hands (How do they like to hold hands?)

George Russell is the type of guy who either holds your hand in his fully, the whole fingers interlocked and a moderately strong grip, or he doesn't at all.

He's not one for the "cute handholding" where couples link their pinkie fingers and say it's holding hands. It's either all or nothing.

I = Injury (How would they act if you got hurt?)

George Russell is the type of guy who would go insane or would laugh at you. You stubbed your toe on the doorframe, and he's bent over in laughter. But you get in a crash or break a bone and he is hell-bent on destroying whatever hurt you.

J = Jealousy (Do they get jealous easily? How do they show it?)

George Russell is the type of guy who gets jealous on occasion. If you're friends with other drivers then he doesn't care. But if they start flirting with you and you're seemingly oblivious to their attempts, then comes the clinginess.

K = Kiss (Do they exchange kisses often? Where do they like to kiss?)

George Russell is the type of guy who would constantly be giving you forehead kisses, or just kiss the top of your head if he can't access your face.

L = love confession (How would they confess their feelings?)

George Russell is the type of guy who would be oblivious of his feelings but everyone around would know. Since becoming teammates with him, Lewis hasn't spent a day without hearing something about you or what you're up to. Even Toto has heard many compliments about you from George, so much in fact that one day he asked the driver how his partner was only for George to be confused until realising the team principal meant.

This then led to him spiralling whilst creating a PowerPoint presentation on why he loves you.

M = Memory (What's their favourite memory together?)

George Russell is the type of guy to have his favourite memory of you doing something so simple, like the time you rearranged your bookshelf and paused to read him a quote you found funny and then explain the entire backstory and plot behind it.

N = Nicknames (What do they call their partner?)

George Russell is the type of guy who would use endearingly sweet but stereotypical British nicknames for you. Ranging from the doting "Sweetheart," to the classic "Darling", to the obvious but most important "Love" used excessively.

O = On Cloud nine (What are they like when they are in love? Is it obvious to others? How do they express their feelings?)

George Russell is the type of guy who will not shut up about you. Before he came to the realisation that he was in love with you, Lewis, Toto, and essentially the entire Mercedes garage, and some of the Williams one, knew practically everything about you as he would not stop talking. So yes, everyone knew he was in love with you.

When it comes to expressing his feelings, George Russell will not stop until you are sick of hearing the phrase "I love you" and threaten to tape his mouth shut.

P = PDA (Are they upfront about their relationship? Do they brag with their S/O in front of others? Or are they shy to kiss/hug when others are watching? Etc.)

George Russell is the type of guy who will kiss you in front of everyone and not care. To him, everyone knew that he was in love with you before he did, so what's to harm. However, he does prefer to hold your hand at every opportunity given. And even though he sometimes looks like a bean pole, his hugs are so soft that you have actually fallen asleep in his arms before.

Q = Quality time (How do they like to spend time with you?)

George Russell is the type of guy who just likes spending time with you. Whether that's the two of you watching a movie together, going for a walk at sunset, or even sitting doing your own things in the same room. George Russell just likes to be near you.

R = Rainy Day (What do they like to do on a rainy day?)

George Russell is the type of guy who, providing neither of you has to leave for work, will refuse to unravel from you and keep you bed-bound all day. Could the two of you be doing something productive? yes, you could. But to George Russell, rainy days are the best for sleeping in and cuddling under the warmth of the duvet.

George Russell is the type of guy who just thinking about you brings a smile to his face.

George Russell is the type of guy who will talk about anything and everything. It doesn't matter what the topic is, but get him started on something he knows even the smallest bit about, then you will never get him to be quiet again.

George Russell is the type of guy who knows you so well and how to offer comfort. He's been your friend for years. If there's one thing he knows how to do, then it's comfort you when you're upset.

George Russell is the type of guy who would collect a souvenir from each race he attends to gift you, even if you are there with him. He used to get you expensive stuff quite a lot until he realised how much you would cherish the smaller less valuable gifts. A fridge magnet of your favourite plant was one of your favourite gifts which in turn sparked the realisation in him. But that's not to say he doesn't get you something expensive occasionally.

W = Wild Card (Random headcanon?)

George Russell is the type of guy who would second guess every message he sends you until you reply back to him. At first, he's like, yep, that's alright, and then after about thirty seconds he begins panicking and wondering what your response is going to be. It doesn't matter what message he's sent you, whether it's asking if you're still awake, or a simple 'I love you', he cannot rest until he gets a reply.

X = XOXO (Are they very affectionate?)

George Russell is the type of guy who will not stop showering you with affection. He's constantly giving you compliments, pulling you into his arms so he can hold you and peppering your face with sweet kisses. It took him a good while to work out that he loved you and now he's going to make sure that you're aware of it.

Y = Yearning (How will they cope when they're missing their partner?)

George Russell is the type of guy who will not stop mentioning how much he misses you. He messages you whenever he can and it's gotten to the point that Toto dreads the weekends that you're not there as it means he has to listen to George Russell talk about how much he misses you.

Z = ZZzzzz (How heavy of a sleeper are they? How do they sleep?)

George Russell is the type of guy that trying to rouse him from sleep is akin to waking the dead. This man hears nothing except his alarm. You try to wake him up, zilch. But he hears his alarm go off, and he is awake instantly. He sleeps like the dead but must have you wrapped in his arms. He is a cuddler.

Warning : Heavily opinionated as I speak from my experience (which may be lacking) as someone who worked and studied in PR/Marketing sector so please take it lightly as this is just for a fun agree-to-disagree discussion

Okay let's talk about it

To some grussell sprouts, the development of George's "meme" persona to the general fans might be an annoying phenomenon because we often see George being reduced to nothing but memes and people just talk about his funny moments, like him for his looks or underrate him.

But what if I said it wasn't all that negative? Career wise.

F1 is a sport where you have to establish a personality or strong branding to shine there. It's not only about skills and talents sadly (let's face reality). We all know that not all F1 figures decide to go down this road but at the very least, they all do and they must do especially the current ones. After his Sakhir 2020 performance and pre-Mercedes era, I'd rank George's marketability somewhere around 6-10 on the grid. People know he is talented but often times, they do not know him enough to know about his personality. Very different from the likes of Norris or Ricciardo (in a good way). I won't blame anyone and their moms for this because George is in a Williams back then, which may lack some spotlight to it compared to the Williams nowadays.

Then he came to Mercedes. And he acts like usual. Like what he did in Williams. He has always been George the way he is since forever. But people are shocked when they know more and start to come to their own conclusion and stereotype him as "bitchy", "tory", etc. Why does this happen? Because they know he is there on the grid, he is famous but they don't know him enough to know his personality. And so he got stereotyped and people got the wrong idea of him.

But George's personality starts to show more to the general fans eyes as the "george russell is the type of guy..." memes appear and the intro pose soon follows. People are getting to know him through liking his "new" funny personality. It isn't anything new actually. George is being George but they just got to know him aside from his radio, race personality, and face. They just got to know more of George through his personality that is "goofy" for them even though it is honestly nothing new.

Then the hair part rolls in. Believe me, hair theory exists and works. It is a part of marketing and PR sometimes. George's hair made him look friendlier than before to the general public as it was a style they are more familiar with. Me and you, as George's fans, honestly do not care whether he wants to use 100 gels or go bald (We'd still like him) but to the general public that doesn't really know him? It matters. So you need to understand that even though those don't matter to you. They matter to the general fans and help them to like him more.

There's also the part where the sponsors actually start to know the direction they'll take with George. A brand who knows what to do with its client is a sign of longevity and new strength in their partnership. They have these visions because they are starting to see the market and buzz building up, alongside with more chances that he gets to show his personality off-track through interviews, events, etc that he is invited to. This is actually a very good form of personal branding. And honestly, the trend is going upwards and this is actually helping him career wise because with the way he is and the more people get to know the real him and his personality, he will attract a lot of sponsors that fits him too. Not only team sponsors but also individual sponsors in the future as well 👀

Okay as someone who once worked as a social media admin, THESE PEOPLE ARE DAMN ANNOYING and I do think after years, Merc admin finally snapped or smthn. Look, I might be their opps when it comes to their contents but for this? I can't fully blame them. I would be sick as well dealing with all these clowns. Post L pics?
