What are your options on how Cleo's family changed from Gen 1 to gen 3, personally I miss the gen 1 dynamics cause it made me feel better as a kid with a unstable household seeing my favorite character with one and being happy despite it
Honestly idk, personally I'm an older sibling with a nightmare of a younger sister so I never really related to Nefera and Cleo or thought about their relationship much. The change in g3 seems to be because g3 is aimed at a younger audience (at least I assume so, in comparison to g1 it definitely appears to be) and they're probably wanting to portray healthier family dynamics than g1 did and like mean girl characters just aren't the thing rn. I do think it's good for kids to see positive relationships and have like good role models, but like yeah it does mean g3 kind of lacks any portrayals of dysfunctional or negative relationships outside of Toralei and her mum and I think with g3's larger focus on family portraying relationships like g1 Nefera and Cleo's would probably be better than everyone being so happy and healthy because like yeah it helps kids see they aren't alone in that situation and that they can exist and be happy outside of it. Also ngl Nefera and Cleo's dynamic in g3 is just kind of boring, not saying healthy and happy is boring just that in the case of them it is and sometimes characters need to be dysfunctional for things to be entertaining. Honestly I think this is just an issue with childrens media in general rn, and I could go on a whole rant about it but to put it simply I blame parents not even like current parents of children but parents from like 10-15 years ago who've now had a lasting impact on childrens media because of shit like thinking a doll looked a bit scary or that like every character ever could be a bad role model and now children's media plays it like way too safe ig.
#monster high#nefera de nile#cleo de nile#asks#not saying that kids media can't be like safe and happy#but when you get to like aiming for kids 8-12 it's boring#like if I was a kid now I would find what's on tv so fucking boring 90% of the time#like no wonder they end up on youtube and watching shit they shouldnt because whats made for them isnt really made for them yk#sorry for the amount of words I wrote more than intended

Notes for another Cleo stream, this one from April Fools. (Cleo has been uploading VODs again \o/ so it will probably be available on Youtube soon! Still available on Twitch here.) Featuring Real Life talk and permit office shenanigans with Grian, Scar, Etho, and Pearl.
Cleo reads out a message congratulating them on the Real Life win only a minute into the stream [making life hard for the mods, who pin a message not to talk about spoilers, as usual ^^]
Cleo´s opinion on if their win is canon: âWhy wouldn´t it be real? Why wouldn´t it be?â The test, going by TV series rules: if the special gets mentioned in a later episode it´s canon.
They discovered the allays having coffee at the kitty cafĂŠ that False put there :D
Apparently the group was initially concerned if people would be mad, but they were still making content. The âApril Foolsâ part was just that it was a one-off.
In-game chat: Grian announces the permit office is open. Special opening hours for April 1st! Pearl and Cleo are immediately suspicious and say it sounds like a trap. Joel says that Grian is actually nice to day (but on midnight he turns back into a nightmare.) Cleo is not at all convinced.
About Real Life: ~"the first thing everybody did was wave to each other, and dance, and give hugs, and I think that says a lot"
Pearl apparently had a 0/10 experience at the permit office. The permit office is closed again. nobody is surprised.
After the recording, Scar mentioned that he was told he should get a lap belt too⌠Scar is not Scar-safe. Cleo is frequently concerned/worried about Scar, which is only appropriate. "I´m not worried he´s gonna hurt himself, I´m worried he´s gonna, just, tear down the fabric of society.â "He´s a special little sausage, and also needs poking with sticks on a regular basis. Like big sticks â not little sticks, massive, massive sticks."
ooh apparently three glass permits are up for grabs! Grian, Scar, Cleo, Etho, and Pearl have a discussion in front of the permit office. Very soon this involves talking about loopholes to the permit office rules, but Grian tells them to stop it, he will just make up more rules. Pearl says she might be an NPC, Cleo says AI is not that advanced. Scar has skins, hats, and plans for him and Skizz has permit enforcers, but no spoilers
They looked at the permit office and the backrooms, listened to some unsettling music, and then started talking about cooking (more specifically Scar started talking about his meat. That he cooked, as Etho was glad to hear him clarify.) Grian thinks Etho would eat grey sludge nutrition paste.
Etho´s daily sandwich: a foot-long baguette, provelone cheese, hungarian salami, lettuce, tomatoes, salt and pepper, balsamic vinegar-based dressing. With dill pickles on the side. Grian calls it the most gourmet sandwich. "The more I learn the more I both admire and get confused.â Etho doesn´t understand the big deal [tbh neither do I? It´s a sandwich.] Scar says it´s because of how mysterious Etho is. Etho considers dramatizing everything part of the job as a youtuber.
"being tortured by Grian is fun, right? Right?" - Cleo
What would be Cleo´s mission if someone had created her? Pearl: to burn things down? Cleo asked if she´s burned down things recently. Etho: "She´s a trap door flipper."
repeated discussions about if Pearl is an AI or not
"you don´t have to be an NPC if you don´t want to, you can break your programming" - killing Cleo, however, would not be unexpected. Pearl has already stabbed her in the heart repeatedly. Not in Real Life! They were together that series. [Is it just me or does Pearl´s âyeeahâŚâ sound a little more hesitant ^^]
Bonus: Cleo contemplates stealing cOW
#zombiecleo#hermitcraft#hermitcraft streams#hc s10#real life smp#watch Cleo´s streams they´re awesome#and have good mods#in other news I was tired and made a dumb comment that was deleted and I will now never say anything ever again#<- my brain in anxiety mode

I don't care how you guys feel about Charlotte, if there's one thing I'm glad S2 (in it's prime) explored - it was generational merfolk magic.
(Admitting Charlotte truther here) I find it fascinating exploring Mako Island and the generations of mermaids over the years for many reasons. Let's be honest, there's plenty of H2O fanfiction on Fanfiction.Net that tried exploring the H2O gang growing up and having powers to various degrees. Some focus on adulthood and drag it out while others get to the marriage and children phase a bit too quickly, but a few stand out just right (and by right, I mean "I could read this as if I'm watching it on TV"). But what I gather trying to read is Next Generation fics. Some writers opt to say the girls had normal children and don't tell them the Secret - which leads to history repeating and the daughters and/or sons finding their way onto Mako and going through the Metamorphosis. Others say the children are born with their powers, therefore automatically in on the Secret. And I think I recall a fic that ventured into the girls (or maybe just Cleo) becoming grandmothers themselves.
(FYI: It's a lot more telling how long ago a fanfic was written if the mermen in them have orangey-gold tails or any other colors pre-Mako Mermaids.)
Overall, I do appreciate those stories, but that doesn't diminish my preference for the past mermaids or what they could've/would've done if taking the present canon into account. I wanna explore how being mermaids in the 50s had worked out, if Gracie's choice was what split the group up, or if it was the tip of the iceberg. But mostly, I wanna know why Gracie was the only one to have a family and the implications of her ties to Mako after no longer being a mermaid. Did Gracie leave and never look back? Could Annette have been an 80s mermaid if she had returned? And regardless of how she came in, was Charlotte being drawn to Mako and becoming a mermaid really shocking?
Or what about Julia? The only reason we found out she died was because her locket sold at an estate sale and ended up at a jewelry shop. But did that have to necessarily mean she was alone or could it be implied she did have family and they sold her stuff without realizing the significance of the locket? What if someone did try to look for it and couldn't track it down? Maybe, if not directly a grandchild, but a grand-niece or nephew?
So in that hypothesis, out of the 4 known members of the 50s group, Gracie and Julia had more reasons to have had families in their lives while Louise (an elderly widow) and Max (a recluse hermit) didn't.
I understand we got used to the iconic OG girls, but there are too many holes and plots to be left unexplored.
((Before I end on this note, let me send this off that next-generation tropes don't necessarily have to apply to children and grandchildren. I'll fan the flame that Kim Sertori could have received the torch and become a mermaid. Cleo and co. were off the college and with the moon pool supposedly damaged, it wouldn't be like more mermaid hijinx could occur...that they'd be aware of. And what if Taryn Marler (Julia in S2 and Sophie in S3) had been brought on as a twenty-something woman who endured Metamorphosis, unlike the teenagers before her? Her character - Rachel Samuels from Blue Water High S2, free to watch on YouTube - had a much more preferable persona for H2O, so why not combine them into someone fleshed out? Instead of the main characters having children or having them help out the next random group of teenaged Merfolk - why not focus on a narrative of a mermaid's siblings finally stepping into her shoes and a woman entering her adult years as a mermaid?))

Wednesday, January 1st, 2025.
End of Year Survey
First things first, did you have a good year? I did. It was not without its challenges and setbacks, but overall I made a lot of progress.
How old did you turn this year? Thirty-five.
Do you feel your age? I don't feel my age at all. I still feel very much like a child posing as a adult and praying no one figures it out.
Did your appearance change in anyway? My skin has cleared up considerably, I've gained a little weight, and I might carry myself with a bit more confidenceâŚbut in the grand scheme of things, no. Aside from the fact that my hair is a bit shorter due to a recent buzz cut, my appearance has remained pretty similar to what it was last January.
Post your favorite selfie. I really only posted a few selfies...but here's one from early 2024.
If you traveled, where did you go? I didn't do any significant traveling. The farthest I went was to the Mountain Park.
Which fashion trends did you love? I don't pay much attention to current fashion trends. My tastes have more or less remained the same for years.
Which fashion trends did you hate?
What was your favorite article of clothing this year? Post a pic if possible? Probably this pine green sweater I got from the animal shelter.
What song sums up this year for you? No particular song. Just a lot of classical music. Also, late in the year, kind of as a joke, Hoist The Colors High. Found it through those North Sea Oil Rig shorts on YouTube and applied it to my own perils in weighing Cleo, one of the feistiest cats at the shelter. I was also sent a video by Ollie shortly after that, I believe it was of some vet techs, involving a dramatic knighting ritual before attempting to corral a loose feral cat. I was just like--SAME ENERGY. Lol clearly we were all on the same wavelength.
What album came out and has been on heavy rotation since then? It didn't come out this year, but the only album I have listened to all the way through in 2024 would be Precession by Fifty Dollar Dynasty.
What was your favorite movie of the year? I only saw a few movies, but out of those, I would say Wild Robot. Hit me right in the "complicated mother and child relationship" spot.
Did an actor/actress catch your attention for the first time this year? Not in any meaningful way.
Favorite new TV show? I don't watch TV. As far as YouTube channels are concerned, I can't think of anything major⌠I did just recently stumble upon a channel called Holdfast Alaska, though, which is about homesteading in the Alaskan Wilderness. And maybe Space Matters. Just another space facts channel to aid me in falling asleep.
Which new ship/fandom has taken over a lot of your time, attention, and tears? Just the same old ship I've been sailing since sometime around 2008. :')
What food did you try for the first time? I guess some variation of eggnog.
Did you make any big permanent changes this year? I increased my volunteer hours over the summer to include some full days. I also feel like the past year has changed me in ways I can't quite put into words. Not in the sense that those changes are now static - because they are still very much evolving - but in the sense that I can't go back to the person I was prior to those experiences.
What was one nice thing you did for someone else? I tried to stick up for Kristen during that whole Alex situation. I don't know how effective it was and there was probably a better way to go about it, but it was a complicated and confusing position to be in and I did the best I could.
What was one nice thing you did for yourself? Just generally tried to make time for myself, my needs, and my hobbies, even if that meant taking an extra day off here and there. Went on quite a few trips to the Mountain Park. Etc.
Did you develop a new obsession? I got back into taking surveys
Did you vote? Yeah.
Did you move? No, but I might have if that apartment voucher thing hadn't fallen through at the last minute. I was so excited to move into my own little place, but maybe where I am now is for the best.
Did you get a job? I was offered a job at the animal shelter around the time Alex and Cassie left, but I wasn't quite ready to accept it. I do think I will be ready the next time there's an opening, though. As ready as I'll ever be, anyway. At some point, I just need to be brave and take the plunge, come what may.
Did you get a pet? No, but we did agree to take in a kitten if his owners couldn't be found - which they eventually were. Now that really was for the best because I think that sweet little kitten would have driven poor Lacy insane. Esther and Karenna would have adjusted, but not her. I think he would have stressed her to death.
Do you regret not doing anything? I'm going to answer this question and the next one together because they're very much linked. I regret instances of speaking up as well as NOT speaking up (sooner? in a more constructive way? etc).
Do you regret doing something?
Have you done anything that scared you? I have started to ever so sloooowly let people in just a litttttle bit more. Nothing drastic. Maybe just a few bricks taken out of my guarded fortress of an existence. But yeah. Gotta start somewhere, I suppose.
Did anyone/thing make you so mad it stayed with you for days? Yeah.
Did you lose anyone close to you? I didn't.
Did you fall in love? No.
Did you fall out of love? No.
Did you start a new relationship? Do friendships count? I think I'm starting to form the beginnings of a friendship with Riley.
Did you go through a break up? Nope.
Did you have to cut ties to someone? I thought I would have to cut ties with my mom again after what happened in September. I know I've been consistently vague regarding what went down, but it doesn't feel like my story to tell. It's also not something I really want out there on the internet. Suffice it to say that I was dragged into the position of feeling like I might have to choose between her and my dad and - if push came to shove - I would have remained loyal to my dad.
Who was important to you this year but wasnât important last year? The closest fit would be my mom. It's not that she wasn't at all important last year, but we had only recently reconciled and I was still keeping her at a significant emotional distance. I'm still trying to figure out how far I want to let her in, but I feel a lot more warmth and affection for her than I did in the beginning.
Who wasnât as important to you this year as they were last year? Can't think of anyone.
If you could have a do over on one thing you did, would you take it? Naw. I don't think it would really change much.
What was the best moment of the year for you? The volunteer appreciation dinner in April. The fundraising event in July. Increasing my hours. When Alex finally left. All the trips to the Mountain Park. Just spending time with my dad and my cats in general. A gradual improvement in my energy levels. Achieving more food freedom. Getting into baking. All the awesome little gifts I received for Christmas (it wasn't even about the gifts themselves - it was more about realizing how many people cared and thought enough of me to do such a thing). Growing closer to my mom. Any day that felt filled with peace, hope, and accomplishment. Etc.
What was the worst? When the apartment stuff fell through. Dealing with Alex. The family drama.
Did anything happen that you were sure would change you as a person but it really didnât? I initially thought the family drama would affect me more than it did. It was some extremely heavy stuff, butâŚhmm. Maybe it's the sort of thing that creeps up on you over time rather than all at once. Idk.
Did anything happen to you that you were sure wouldnât change you as a person but it did? Not really. But I can say that change has been hard to measure except in large chunks of time. Day by day, it feels like nothing much is happening, but when I look back, it's obvious that I'm handling way more than I thought I could at the beginning of the year.
What are you most proud of accomplishing? Just sticking with it. Not just one thing, but all of it - volunteering, driving, socializing, art, therapy, etc.
What have you learned about yourself this year that you didnât know in the years prior? I'm much more capable and competent than I think I am.
Did your opinion of anyone change for the better? Yeah. Or it mellowed, became more complex in a good way, whatever.
Did your opinion of anyone change for worse? Yeah.
If you make resolutions, did you complete them this year? My main resolutions were to work on my eating disorder and to try to love myself more. My eating disorder is no longer as much of a crutch of identity and safety as it once was, but there's still work to be done. As for loving myselfâŚyeahâŚI'm still struggling with that.
If you make resolutions, what will your resolutions be for the coming year? Gonna have to go with self-love yet again. I don't think I was as focused on it as I could have been. Maybe if I make it more intentional, then something will finally click. As for everything else, just keep improving. Hopefully get that job at the shelter.
If you could go on an adventure during the remaining days of the year, where would you go and what would you do? Who would you go this? Too late!
What do you wish for others for the coming year? Idk. Whatever they want or need most.
What do you wish for yourself? Same, I guess. To experience whatever is for my highest good.

just out of curiousity, what are your top 10 hollyoaks crack ships/rare pairs đ
Oh, anon, you have no idea the can of worms you had just opened. So, crackships/rarepairs specifically, huh? (I mean, just about every ship that doesn't involve Ste or John-Paul are a rarepair, let's be honest.) Okay, let's do this. (These are in no way in ranked order btw)
Joel Dexter x Ryan Knight (Knightdex)
It's so stupid and (so far) based on literally one (1) interaction between them, in Rory Douglas-Speed's first episode as Joel in 2016, in which Ryan has called Joel for help in taking Warren down in Patrick's murder investigation. The moment they have outside of the police station was so incredibly gay for no reason, and I'm forever going to be thinking of how unnecessarily close Ryan got to Joel. I will provide a gif as evidence:
2. Brendan Brady x Simon Walker (Bralker)
I feel like they count as a rarepair because everyone prefers stendan (obviously <3), but the chemistry between Emmett Scanlan and Neil Newbon is genuinely insane. Like, they're constantly eye-fucking each other, and Walker can say it was all an act as much as he wants, but I'm not convinced. There's just something to be said for their very toxic, one-secretly-wants-the-other-dead, partners in crime thing.
3. Amy Barnes x Michaela McQueen (McBarnes)
I think men were not good for Amy, and Michaela was right there. I'm a sucker for best friends to lovers (even if they were more like messy frenemies most of the time), so I already loved the idea of them, but then I saw this one scene from like 2006 where Ste confronts Michaela and asks if she fancies Amy, and I'd believe it wholeheartedly.
4. George Smith x Callum Kane (PalmKane)
I love their friendship, and I totally get why the show kept it platonic because it was such an important dynamic to have on TV back in 2012, no judgement, just pure trust and affection for each other. But as I said, I'm a sucker for best friends to lovers, so! I wish Callum hadn't died because they were genuinely one of my favourite parts of that era.
5. Max Cunningham x O.B
It's funny for me to count this one considering I haven't watched a single scene featuring Max other than the one where Claire tells him Tom is in the lake to try and drown Max, and then OB saves him. But what did it for me was OB's return in 2016, the way he cares for Tom (Max's little brother), and reading through their entire history lmao. I'm planning on going back and watching the scenes I can find on youtube (currently organising a playlist) so that I can fall even harder for them. I truly believe they were soulmates.
6. Cleo McQueen x Nathan Nightingale (Clathan)
Again, I don't know if this counts as a rarepair because they were technically together in the show, but I also don't think anyone actually ships them anymore? Either way, they're adorable and if Nathan hadn't died, I would've wanted them together and married and happy <3
7. Sienna Blake x Trevor Royle (Trienna)
Yes, Sienna was not necessarily good for Trevor, and he chose Grace, but the colouring book therapy session?? I'm still crying over them.
8. Ste Hay x John Paul McQueen (McHay)
I'm cheating again, I know, they were canon, people shipped them (probably still do), but not nearly enough. I still want them back together now, in 2024, I am BEGGING. Reunite them. Give them another chance. Let them be HAPPY.
9. Robbie Roscoe x Callum Kane (Roscane)
Look, Robbie came into and immediately did way too much just to try and impress Callum and get him to be his friend. I will die on the hill that Robbie is queer. (TBF the same could be said for Freddie Roscoe, too.)
10. Romeo Nightingale x Prince McQueen (Rinse)
I miss the Daily Rinse <3 Also, having Romeo's exit be him riding off on a horse while Prince tearfully watches him as "Love Story" by Taylor Swift plays? Most romantic moment ever, and their names are made for each other, come on.
I am ALWAYS happy to talk about Hollyoaks (or EastEnders), especially ships, so please feel free to send more questions/talk to me about anything! <3

CapĂtulo 11: The Sacrifice

I finally got my schedule aligned with a friend of mine to watch Monster High 2 (the live action movie sequel) and I have some thoughts about it
(Keep reading only if you're okay with spoilers, I go into a lot of detail)
Monster High 2 was a solid experience altogether. The previous movie was in a similar vain, but I think the special effects budget got amped up, because everything looked stellar and just generally better than the first movie. It's still not cinema film level quality but these aren't meant to be compared to that. It's a TV movie, and for what it is I thought that (almost) everything rendered out beautifully (idk why they keep having Lagoona do the oAo thing but okay).
As per the previous film, there were lots of highs in the comedy (Frankie is always the highlight of these movies for me, Cleo taking her job as campaign manager so seriously was kinda funny to me, and a lot of the Heath shenanigans were so reminiscent of G1 to me ESPECIALLY the teasing about Clawdeen being Deuce's girlfriend and general himbo behavior), but it's also a kid's movie, so there's bound to be misses too. Comedy isn't personally my forte, but I got enough chuckles and laughs here and there that it didn't really matter to me.
The songs sounded pretty nice! I went into the movie this time without hearing any songs in advance like the first movie, and was pleasantly surprised. None of them were particularly bad to me, but I think my favorite one was the very-poorly-disguised friend breakup song with the main trio. It reminded me of a similar song in Descendants 2 ironically enough, but I don't mean that as an insult, I love the Descendants soundtracks too!
Okay, now the story of the movieâŚI don't really know where to begin, there's so much to talk about. I guess I can start at the beginning.
I've seen a few people complain about Clawdeen blowing up on social media and going viral when the characters would regularly go viral or get tons of views on their not-YouTube channels in G1. I know the Internet was different back in 2010, but it wasn't THAT much different going viral back then as it is now imo. I found it an odd complaint personally.
While I have no idea how a half-human ghost can exist in the first place, I ADORED the little bits where that new character was. Unfortunately I neglected to remember her name, usually I'm better with keeping up on this stuff. But she was so goofy, like yeah queen, walk through the door and immediately hit it on the way back out. đ
The whole thing with the prefect is kind of irrelevant for the most part, so I don't mind it as much. I have an irrational love for the whole fire and water thing Heath and Lagoona got to do for it together, and I noticed characters like them actually have something to do in the movie instead of just awkwardly showing up at the end to record Komos and stand guard I guess??? And they had much more dialogue this time around (very few exceptions, I can only think of Ghoulia and Abbey but who knows, maybe they'll get to be main characters in the third movie I presume will release next year).
Torelai being a general nuisance was amazing, and here she really did feel like her G1 counterpartâŚif said counterpart was British lol. Her outfits were really nice, felt super edgy and it was a plus for me. I also liked the mention of her scarring from the witches in France, where she'd studied abroad, but I do think they repeated the point of her bringing it up against witches in the song was too quick after the initial mention, perhaps it could've been reserved to the song and have her sing-song her way through explaining the wraith silver.
Draculaura was the main focus in the film, and I really enjoyed her story. She's got every card stacked against her, even those she trusts, it feels like they turn on her in her point of view (Clawdeen and Ellis specifically). I've also seen characters like Ellis a billion times, but as generic as he is, he served the purpose he was in the film for (lowkey thought the name was a reference to Elphaba/Wicked Witch of the West).
Seeing Dracula as much as we did this movie was amazing, loved that, though Zamara kinda fell flat with me as an antagonist. Making a comparison here, but it felt like they were trying to replicate what they'd done with Komos in the previous film, just adjusting her to fit the new narrative, but Komos was much better executed imo (I promise this isn't my bias to Jekyll and Hyde characters showing, I just think his dynamics with the students flowed more organically). I found the whole thing about witches marketing herbal products as remedies with magical healing properties to exploit humanity's fears of appearing healthy to be funny with Z, but that's about it. I also could tell she'd be the villain a lot faster than I did with Komos haha. Seeing Apollo play a significant role here was nice too! I really like how the adult/parent characters can be just as important as the teens, as I find the lack of parent appearances in G1 to be too sparce for something so integral to the characters' stories.
As with pretty much anyone who's seen the film, it seems we were all shouting at Clawdeen towards the end to just turn human to avoid injury from the wraith silver bars (I was so confused lmao), but I think she was so desperate to save her friend that she was in too blind a panic to control that or think rationally. Frankie is in a similar vein; I thought their upgrades would've caused more pain than it'd be worth, and since we saw the electricity from their arm separating from the rest of their body earlier in the scene, it might've triggered a rush of pain to Frankie or their energy would've been zapped out like a light. Also, yâall, they thought their friend was going to forcefully commit genocide, I donât think either of them were safe from having irrational/impulsive solutions to a situation in which their friend is literally gonna die if they take time to think critically. I do think there couldâve been better execution with the scene, especially how important it is for later, however. I may be explaining the thought process of my only other point of contention here, but it wasnât thought out all too much imo â Deen couldâve tried to shift back and find it doesnât work, Frankie couldâve tried to detach their hand/arm and found themselves getting hurt (but not scarred since thatâs really the were-girlsâ common thing).
But when Clawdeen died just from touching the bars for too long, I was so shocked it was happening from something so small, I figured the explanation was that it might drain a monster's life force or something. But I COULD NOT take the grim reaper thing seriously. Genuinely laughed my ass off cause WHAT WAS THAT??? It seemed so out of place for the pacing to me I guess. I felt like it could've been a perfect opportunity to have Komos reach out to her through his petrification, especially with how much she hangs around his statue during her troubles and looks to his statue for guidance, but I knew going in he was like 99% certain to be a one-off villain. đĽ˛
Anyway, Torelai and Clawdeen's little trauma bond moment with the scars at the end was very wholesome, a nice tie back to the "not afraid to show my secrets or my scars" line from Coming Out Of The Dark. And for once the franchise acknowledges were-animals as having kinship, like don't get me wrong, I know it's mainly for the cats vs dogs thing, but they're essentially the same monsters. I always found it odd that they were treated as completely different monster types entirely when all they are is just a human base with animal features and abilities (speed, agility, heightened senses, etc.).
A lot of people have a problem with Clawdeuce being a thing, but I don't mind it personally. It's a different gen, nothing has to stay the same as G1, so Iâm just going along with the vibes. And I can tell Deuce leaving is going to be where we follow through in the next movie (unless he got tossed into the underworld in the end credits scene, I have no clue). To be honest I really like his prominent inclusion in the roster of characters, especially with how erased heâd get in the G1 movies (they literally cut his part of the rap out and itâs so apparent q-q).
But back to the point about the after credits, when I saw the grim reaper actually CAME BACK and just threw Deuce to the side (or maybe through the portal idk) I instantly freaked out, no laughter to be had, like "WAIT OH MY GOD WE WERE SUPPOSED TO TAKE THAT BIT FOR REALâ"
I know the third film is looking to be centered on Frankie (They đ) but I do worry with how much elements they're taking from G1 movies to make up new/similar narratives (Drac's Sweet 1600, the previous gen's self acceptance narrative but specifically with a half human character, the emphasis on Jekyll and Hyde shenanigans, vampires vs werewolves but make it vampires vs witches instead, etc.). I just don't think another Freaky Fusion thing with Frankie sacrificing their life energy should be necessary. Especially considering the new antagonist is very clearly gonna be this Grim Reaper dude. And since the Underworld might be the main location for the third film, I wonder if the whole thing about Heath being Hades's son in the TV show will come up in the movie. Ik they're different canons from each other, but It'd be pretty interesting to see how they'd create a MH version of Hades. (I found his design from the cartoon after typing all this up and I mean, okay then I guess 𤡠Donât love it but donât hate it either, he just looks too nice to me haha. I love when Hades is actually a nice character, but his appearance and Resting Bitch Face make him out to be a huge dick.)
As of right now, that's basically everything I have to say on the movie. I personally prefer the first one, but I will not deny that it's because I liked Komos more as an antagonist than Zamara â antagonists are just as important as protagonists. He has the Jekyll and Hyde thing going for him too, which is just overall a favorite trope of mine (Though his change wasnât as literal). I do think this movie had more going on and much higher stakes, what with characters almost committing mass genocide, suffering injuries and nearly outright DYING.
But I don't know, it was a solid 7/10 for me I think, on the higher end of 7 but Zamara keeps me from giving it a higher rating (sorry y'all I just REALLY didn't like her character, not even in a love to hate way, and villainsâ likability matters too much for me personally). I guess my ranking for the first movie would be a low 8, but itâs based more on how much I enjoyed it than how objectively good or "perfect" it is.

Hi, Scorpion-Flower, I just wanna ask. About how you feel about the Cleopatra 'doc'. Because I remember you sayin' that Beastars on Netflix needed better Greek translations. So, since Cleo was Macedonian Greek. And you're well Greek. I wanted your POV on it. That's all. :)
Love, Lindsay
You can answer this privately if you like. I just wanted to your POV.
Hi!
Beastars needed better translation/subtitles (there is no greek dub of Beastars or literally any other Netflix movie or tv show)
I haven't watched the new Cleopatra doc, but I know that it has sparked a big controversy because the woman who plays Cleopatra is black, and Cleopatra being mostly greek because, you know, incest among the royal family, wouldn't be.
Listen, I wouldn't have a problem if Cleopatra was a fictional character, like Disney's live action version of Ariel is. Damn, I didn't have a problem even when black actors potrayed Achilles, Patroclus and Nestor on Troy: Fall of a city. But unlike them, she was an actual person, and this being a doc, will probably make people believe that it's 100% accurate. I believe even the director was like "I don't care what you were taught in school, Cleopatra was black." That's not an attitude to have when you make a documentary series.
While Hollywood is far from having a "blackwashing" problem (something that conservatives believe to exist *eye roll*) I believe that those who are behind the creation of movies and the such, also don't have the guts to make stories of actual black people, and they find it easier to kinda bastardise non black people's history. Why make a documentary about a black person only to have it fade into obscurity, when you can cast a black person to play the role of a well known person, even when they were not black? It's like they're trying to catch people's eyes instead of doing it for inclusivity's sake.
And if said shows fail, they can always blame it on people's racism (which is true to an extent) or even on the black actors that agreed to take on the role. Look what happened with that tv series where Anne Boleyn was played by a black actress. It was a total failure and the main actress was blamed for it. Same with Troy: Fall of a city. Everyone got stuck on the fact that Achilles was played by a black actor, but they ignored so many things that were bad, writing and directing wise.
So yeah, I feel like black actors playing people who were white, are being used as the easy way to make people to tune in, and as the easy scapegoat in case people hate it. Colour blind casting is a different thing, and the biggest example that I have about it, is the musical Six, which is fantastic and I don't care that many of the actresses are not white (the fact that the creative team behind it has a "This is an alternate reality, not history" attitude, unlike the creative team behind the Cleopatra doc, helps a lot.)
From what I have seen, Greeks are not the only people who feel a bit iffy about the casting of a black actress. I haven't seen great reviews by Egyptians either. In fact, under every documentary on Ancient Egypt that I have watched on YouTube, there are comments made by African-Americans stating that Ancient Egyptians were black, only for actual Egyptians to correct them (from what I have heard, some dynasties were black, some were brown and some were white - like the Ptolemaic dynasty- ) so to me, it makes sense that they would also not be pleased with the documentary's inaccuracy.
I hope this whole mess of a text makes sense and I hope I've provided the info that you wanted. To be clear, I don't have a problem with the actress who plays Cleopatra, she's only doing her job. My problem lies with the people who claim to know the "actual history" but don't.
