Thinking about 'jumping on points' for Waterloo Road. With returning and new fans I'm wondering if there's a way to catchup on the show like with Doctor Who:

Series 1 ✅

Well... yes! It's the start of the show and you can't beat the iconic opening seen so yh new fans should and could start here

Series 2 ❌

Not really? Directly continues the Tom/Lorna/Izzie storyline. The Brett stuff could work in isolation but still makes more sense to start from s1

Series 3 ❌

Nope. Continued Donte, Mika, Brett, Chlo, Tom and Davina arcs from s1/2 so you'd prolly be lost. You could start from Rachel's intro because this is also the start of the Rachel Mason era but then you'd have to understand the context of the other teachers. Bolton, Paul, Michaela etc join this season too so maybe but with the amount of storylines directly continued from the previous seasons... prolly not.

Series 4 ⛔

Maybe? The Donte and Chlo storyline and Kim and Andrew's return again works better with the s1 context. But, the Kelly family arc does start here and you could watch that without previous season's context. Not really sure.

Series 5 ✅

Yup! I watched the show from here and it made sense. The John Foster's arc is one of the best from this show and there's a lot of new characters in this season so its a great watch. The only downside is this is the end of the 'Mason era' and honestly this series hits different when you see these characters grow from s3.

Series 6 ✅

Yes. Start of the 'Fisher era' so not a lot of previous context is needed. Only downside is the Josh, Finn, Amy, Lauren era starts from s3-s5 so to see their full growth maybe not put if that's not a concern then go ahead.

Series 7 ✅

Yes again especially because it's broken up. 7a (episodes 1-10) is the 'Fisher era' post all the Bex stuff from s6 so you can start there. Or, you start from 7b (11-30) which is the Byrne era which has brand new characters and doesn't use a lot of previous seasons context. Grantly and Tom's storylines however is another situation of 'watching all the previous seasons makes this feel more emotional' but again if this isn't that deep you might as well. This is also the end of the OG Rochdale era so again, starting earlier makes the experience more enjoyable but this is subjective.

Series 8 ✅⛔

Yes... but for the wrong reasons. Mainly ignores a large chunk of s7 despite being a direct continuation. This is the Scotland era which most fans dislike because the working class Rochdale roots are gone by this point. You don't need context to understand the Scotland character's arcs including Rhiannon (she's a Rochdale character but not in s7...?). The weaker story is also behind from this season too so you can art here but it wouldn't be an authentic representation of the show IMO. Plus season 11+ continues from the Rochdale era. It's unclear whether or not the events from S8-10 are canon but unaddressed or if the show has retconned it so if you choose to start here its unlikely you'll need this to understand s11+. On a technical level yes, but I personally wouldn't recommend it.

Series 9 ✅⛔

Same as s8. Large chunks of previous season were ignored so not a lot of previous context is needed and new character storylines but again, not really ideal.

Series 10 ✅

Same as s8-9. Some underrated characters this season however like Justin and Dale so if you don't mind 1 season storylines go ahead.

Series 11 ✅

Yes. As the reboot season it does a decent job at catching up the Rochdale era. Also if you're tuning in for Preston x Kai this season is the beginning of their story so yes it's essential for the shippers!

Series 12 ❌

Seasons 11-13 are one big arc so not really. Just like s1 it makes sense to just start at the beginning

Series 13 ❌

Nope. Season 12 context is needed for this and to get season 12 you need to watch season 11. These seasons are the shortest of the show only 7 episodes long so its worth starting at the beginning.

These are just my thoughts this is not a definite guide to Waterloo Road! S1, S5, S6, and S7 for me personally are the best ways to start the show but you can do whatever you want!

I'll start with my favorite Canon couples

Wei Wuxian x Lan Wangji (MDZS)

MXTX invented romance when she wrote SVSSS, and perfected it when writing MDZS. The fact that WWX is my favorite character ever helps too. They are a perfect couple, I love them. Love them with their kids. Give them all the kids.

Luo Binghe x Shen Qingqiu/Shen Yuan

Are they problematic? Yes. But it's not like MXTX didn't notice some things LBH did were kinda messes up. It's a flawed and interesting relationship, but they truly care about each other so much. LBH is my second SVSSS character, and that "I hate myself for not being able to get anybody to stay" line always get me. And that Q&A extra is perfect, an underrated gem. I'll write a post about it someday.

Tianlang-Jun x Su Xiyan (SVSSS)

My third and fourth favorite characters from SVSSS. We didn't have much of them, but what we had was great. An ambicious, cold and ruthless human woman and a carefree, romantic and kind of naive Demon Emperor, how can someone not love it? The Demon Emperor acting as the classic, steryotipical, romantic young donzel, and the human acting as a Young heir from a rich family. She takes him to plays, buya gifts and essencially act as his sugar mommy. Love this dinamic. Also the teasing between them. Not to mention all the angst.

Michaela x Clarith (Evillious Chronicles)

The sad tree lesbians. The most wholesome relationship in EC. Do I need to say something else?

Amy Santiago x Jake Peralta (Brooklyn 99)

Yes, I'm aware of the problema of this show, but I still live their relationship. What's worthy to point out is the fact that I didn't ship until they actually got together. There wasnt anything special before, seemed really cliche that they would get together. But I love their dynamic when they're already together. Mostly because I was afraid it would fall into that trap where the writers doesn't know what to do with the couple and how to keep the story interesting, so.they start to include unnecessary love triangles, cheating, drama, and so on. Avoiding this made Peraltiago really refreshing

Zazzalil x Jemilla (Firebringer)

Rivals to lovers. My first Canon gay rivals to lovers. And both of them had valid points of view that seemed opposite, but actually needed each other to be complete

Lelouch x Shirley (Code Geass)

Yes, from all the girls who are romantic interests for Lelouch, I ship him with the most normal one. But It just gave me the vibe that Lelouch wanted to be with her. The tragedy is that he coudn't, even if she didn't die. She was part of a "normal" life that Lelouch had to gave up of in order to achieve his goals.

Now, for my fanon favorite ships

Gai x Kakashi (Naruto)

I talked about my love for Rivals to Lovers. But what about Rivals AND Lovers. Gai got close to Kakashi after Kakashi lost everyone he had loved, took him from that state of loneliness. And they were showed together at chapter 700, showing they remained close and that their relationship is important.

Sal x Larry (Sally Face)

Their friendship was precious and perfect. And, in my defense, they were not step brothers when I started shipping it. And I completly missed the HenryxLisa happening in the backround when I first played.

Sal x Travis (Sally Face)

I know, I know, the "homophobic bully is actually gay" is a cliche by now, and a problematic one. But there's some merit to the Idea of a gay teen being raised in a conservative family and being emotionally damaged for that. It's a thing that happen. Assuming that every homophobe is secretly gay is wrong and takes away the blame of the people opressing us, but internalized homophobia exist. And Travis was just a teen. Also, I'm soft to the Idea of Travis falling in love with someone who's kind, rather than someone who's atractive. I think a lot about that note he wrote.

Zuko x Sokka (Avatar: The Last Airbender)

I can't really explain, but I love this concept so much

Cassandra Cain x Stephanie Brown (DC comics)

My girls. I love them so much. Every scene of them together is a treasure. Their personalities match so well. Also, batfam is the best part of DC, and I won't hear any argument saying otherwise

I loved their relationship living together,they were so cute.

I love them and I love them together. Bruno is underrated and Gallerian is my favorite from the seven sinners.

They are in a Poly relationship and I'll die on this hill. I love the three of them traveling together trough the world and raising a child.

Xue Yang x Xiao Xingchen (MDZS)

Another messed up ship, but I can't help being captivated. XY feel for the first person who showed him kindness and that gives me feelings. There's Also this line from A-Qing

“They used to often night-hunt walking corpses, sometime in the past. Now it’s usually ghosts, animals that behave weirdly, and so on.”

XY did horrible things, I can't find the words to describe how twisted it was how he tricked XXC into killing inoccent people. But this line from A-Qing implies he stopped. On his own. That doesn't take his blame away, but it's worthy noticing. He stopped, he showed no signal that he would have told XXC the truth If SL had not showed up and A-Qing found out the truth. Even after killing SL, he seemed to have the intention to come

back to his pacific life, only when It was all already falling apart he told XXC the truth, but only after trying to get XXC to sympatize with him.

Liu Qingge x Original Shen Qingqiu/Shen Jiu

Rivals to lovers is great. All the misunderstandings that tainted their relationship. LQG judged quickly and SJ refused to fucking explain himself even when he really should. LQG saw the world in black and white, and SJ was too gray. LQG was absolutely loyal. Once someone has his loyalty, he would fight the most poweful being alive for that person. He would fight over and over, despite knowing the result. He would start a war with one of four great sects. And I'm sure there's nothing SJ would value more in a partner than someone who would never abandon him.

Original Luo Binghe x Original Shen Qingqiu/Shen Jiu (SVSSS)

I said in previous posts that I believe Bingge loved SJ and that they were originally meant to get together, before Airplane shifted the genre for money. But that's for it's own post. SJ is my favorite SVSSS character. And this ship has some much potential, to dark fics, to angst, to fix-it fics, there's variety.

This summer, the third season of the hit series Eagles premieres on SVT. Now it's confirmed that there will also be a season four - which will be the series' last. We've talked to actress Alva Bratt and screenwriter Michaela Hamilton.

The hit series "Eagles" will soon release its third season on SVT. In the series, we get to follow five teenagers who live in the hockey town Oskarshamn and their high school years, which are filled with friendship, love and rivalry - both on and off the ice. Now it's also confirmed that a fourth and final season of the SVT series is on its way. So how will it end for our favorite characters? We've talked to actress Alva Bratt and screenwriter Michaela Hamilton about the inspiration behind the characters and what the coming seasons have to offer.

- You could see it as season three and four entering phase two. When you start to face adult problems and how you handle them as a non-adult person, says Michaela Hamilton.

The second season of the teen series averaged over half a million viewers per episode and was nominated for Kristallen 2020 in the category of best TV drama of the year. Despite the success, season four will be the last season. Why is that?

- It's quite funny, the way you're asking the question. It's exactly the same thing you feel when you graduate: “Why does it have to end? We're here and having such a good time”. But we have to move on in life and release these people and relationships into the world. That is exactly what we're doing with Eagles as well, says Michaela Hamilton.

- It's good to finish on top! These were the years the show was supposed to be about. Now they're graduating and then we will set them free, Alva Bratt adds.

What will season 4 be about?

We've gotten to follow the characters during their high school years, and the fourth season will take place during the last six months before they graduate and go their own ways. Michaela remembers that there is an incredible pain in graduating and that you are exposed to the world in a completely different way.

- It is a rather bewildering moment in life when you know that you're going to be separated from people that you have first been forced to be with, but then learned to become friends with or live with, and what these goodbyes do to you. So that's where the basic story lies, says Michaela Hamilton.

Alva Bratt on Eagles-Felicia: "It's like her facade is falling quite a bit"

The third season premieres in June, and is largely about the main characters' different choices. Having to make important choices for the future, even though you may not really know who you are, and what the consequences will be. The third season of Eagles will be darker than the previous ones, which we will see in Alva Bratt's character Felicia Kroon.

- I would say that she feels darker and more insecure. It's like her facade is falling quite a bit, says Alva Bratt.

The season will address issues such as how young people are affected by anxiety over the future, mental illness and dysfunctional families. These are topics that both Michaela and Alva can recognize themselves in, but in different ways. Michaela says that she herself was very identity-seeking and insecure when she was younger. When she got a little older, she lost both her brother and stepfather and also had to go through incredible grief. She has tried to put that trauma into the Eagles' script.

- Grief is so striking and it does things to people, both in positive and negative ways. So I've really lent out a lot of my feelings about it, and it's something that has been personal to me, says Michaela.

It's precisely the search for identity that the screenwriters have attributed to Felicia's character. Trying to find out who you are by testing different identities, and that the journey there can be incredibly difficult. Themes such as mental illness and anxiety over the future are probably things that most people can relate to on some level.

- I've felt bad when I was younger, but also good. That's probably what youth is, I guess, says Michaela.

- That's probably also the climate we live in today. No one feels great all the time. I can feel anxiety over the future now more than ever. Especially with the pandemic, it's been awful on so many levels. That you have to live with the constant anxiety of the future. Even if you're feeling pretty well, it's always difficult to know what you're going to do in the future, says Alva.

They both think that these are important topics to highlight and show more sides of. Michaela says that Eagles has never tried to be a series that is only lighthearted, and they're trying to be a broader spectrum than that. The characters encounter problems such as eating disorders, cancel culture, rumors and drug problems.

- I don't think we're romanticizing anything, which I think is very important. It takes a whole lot to do certain things that some of the characters do, but at the same time there is a hopefulness in the series that gives balance, says Alva and continues:

- I think that one of the guy characters problems are highlighted very well. That these vulnerable guys get represented too, because I really think there is too little of that in media. This story also shows that all people are equal regardless of which gender, identity and class we feel like we belong in.

- Emotions belong to everyone, Michaela fills in.

Prior to the series, the production team did solid research work by interviewing young people in Oskarshamn, and among them many teenagers could recognize themselves in Felicia. But Alva Bratt, who plays the character, doesn't find many similarities between her and Felicia.

- I'm very different from my character. I've said it so many times, but she's like the teenager I never was, says Alva.

The characters may seem stereotypical at first, but as the series progresses, we get to see more sides of them. It's a bit like when we get to know someone in real life. At first we might see a happy guy, but the more we hang out with them the more sides to the person we get to see.

- I think it's nice to write a character just like that, to unfold it a bit like a flower. And it's especially important to understand that when you're young, you're not just evil or good or sad or happy. It's not a whole personality. You can change. You can feel shit but at the same time laugh with your family or have problems within the family but still be a good partner, says Michaela.

So, why has the show gotten so popular? Alva and Michaela think that a lot can be attributed to the viewers recognizing themselves or other people they know in the characters. That they are easy to relate to.

- That's the beauty of teen shows. Either you go through it, have to go through it or you have gone through it. That everyone can find something in there that you can relate to, says Michaela.

The filming for the fourth and final season starts soon. Since it has been clear that Eagles will be about the characters' time as high school students, it means that Eagles will end soon. Whether it will come in any other form remains to be seen.

- No closed doors. That's what I'll say, says Michaela.

In the first season of Eagles we met the Kroon siblings - the influencer Felicia (Alva Bratt) and the hockey player Elias (Edvard Olsson), who moved back to Sweden after their time in the US. Their father was a hockey professional in the NHL but is now taking over as a coach for the hockey team in Oskarshamn.

Felicia starts seeing Ludvig (Adrian Öjvindsson), the hockey talent who's been the best in the team - until Elias joined. The rivalry between the young people reflects much of the season both in friendship, love and popularity.

Klara Ceder (Sarah Gustafsson) who is the school's IT girl feels threatened by Felicia who invades her territory, both as the school's most popular girl and by hanging out with Amie (Yandeh Sallah), who was Klara's friend from the beginning.

Ludvig has family problems and drowns them in alcohol at a party. At the party he meets Amie, and something happens between them.

This happened in Eagles season 2

The second season of Eagles picks up from the dramatic end of season 1, but here we get to see a slightly darker season. Elias starts dating Klara, who Felicia doesn't like. But at the end of the season, Klara apologizes to Felicia, and we get to see other sides of her. Is this the beginning of a new friendship?

Felicia dates Jack Barrett (Filip Wolfe Sjunnesson), a new assistant coach on the team, until she learns worrying things about him.

There is a strange atmosphere between Ludvig and Amie, but they continue to make music together. When Ludvig ends up in the hospital after a hockey tackle, Amie kisses him, but he doesn't kiss her back. Are you allowed to fall in love with your friend's ex?

   "I love you too." She let out a small moan, feeling his hand trail down her body. His kisses moved down to her neck and Cherri wrapped her legs around him. "Leo, please. I need you."

   Fuck, she was perfect. Everything about her was perfect.

   Leo's eyes snapped open and he sat up. "Fuck," he mumbled, rubbing his hand down his face. His phone began to ring and he glanced at it before sighing. He picked up the phone and answered it. "Nova. Why are you calling me?"

   "That's no way to talk to your sister!" Nova huffed.

   "Yes it is. Especially if you're calling at 8 in the morning." Leo replied.

   "Well, I need you to be a doll and pick me up from the airport."

   "...What?" Leo arched a brow.

   "Surprise!! I came to visit!" Nova cooed.

   "Nova, if I wanted you to visit, I would've moved closer."

   "Very funny. Come get me!"

   "Fine."

   Leo raised his eyebrows, "you want an honest answer?"

   Nova hit his arm as he laughed.

   "Don't be so mean! I miss having you so close all the time. You just had to go and mess things up."

   Leo let out a grunt as he drove off, "let's not talk about it."

   "Fine. Any girls catch your eye?" Nova asked.

   "Maybe."

   "You aren't scaring her, are you?"

   Leo glanced at her. "Drop it. What are you here for?"

   "I need to meet a business partner and you're coming along too." Nova answered.

   "Business partner. You're really gonna get in mom's bullshit?" Leo asked.

   "Yeah! I'm actually pretty good at it!"

   "Nova. A lot of people are good at selling drugs. It's not hard."

   "Not a lot of people are good at selling drugs and not getting caught. It's not like it's just me and her doing this. It's been a--"

   "Family business. Yes, mom told me. She also understands why I'm not interested. I'm not sure you do."

   "Finnneee. You're still coming with me."

   "Alright."

   "Why didn't you get a house like this one? It's so pretty!" Nova cooed as they got out of the car.

   "I don't need all of this space." Leo shook his head.

   "You can't stay in a condo forever." Nova shot back.

   Leo rolled his eyes. Nova was right though. His condo did have two bedrooms but Cherri liked to write and draw; he would like her to have her own space to do that. A basement would be nice too and he could make that a gym. "Hm. I guess you're right."

   "I'm always right~"

   As they walked to the front door, Leo was surprised to see Commissioner Hughes leaving. His eyes narrowed a bit. It was clear that the man was nervous and he seemed to have a bit of regret on whatever he's gotten himself into. Leo didn't really care. He watched the Commissioner go by before looking at the blond before them.

   "Good afternoon." He smiled. "You must be Nova." He looked at the woman.

   "That's me. If my mother told me you were this cute we would've met sooner, Anthony." She winked.

   He laughed and looked over at Leo, "you're the brother then?"

   "Yup. Leo." He shook Anthony's hand. "Nice to meet you."

   "I see you're friends with Commissioner Hughes." Leo raised his eyebrows.

   "Friend. That's such a strong word. Even acquaintance is a stretch." Anthony rolled his eyes. "You know him?"

   "No. I had an interesting run in with his son though."

   "He's pretty full of himself, isn't he?"

   "Definitely."

   "Can you believe he didn't want to join me? You two get along great." Nova chuckled.

   "Well it'll make our talk more interesting for sure. I have everything set up by the pool so come on in."

   Leo didn't say much during his time there but he enjoyed the drinks and listened closely.

   "So, Leo. Nova told us you recently moved here. Live in the area?"

   Leo looked at Michael and shook his head. "I live by the harbor in a condo. I'm thinking of getting a house though."

   "Well if you need something just ask. It's easy for us to pull strings." Anthony offered.

   "Funny you should ask." Leo put his cup down.

   "The last thing I want to hear is you obsessing over some poor girl." Nova side eyed her brother.

   Leo looked at her. "Then wait in the car, Nova."

   His tone made the woman clench her jaw. She huffed and narrowed her eyes.

   "We'll make sure he doesn't get into trouble, dear. You don't have to be worried." Michael assured her.

   "Yeah, look there's a maid inside, her name's Cassidy. She makes the best drinks. Have her fix you a few while we talk, alright?"

   "Sounds much better than waiting in the car." Nova smiled before glaring at her brother. "Asshole." She muttered walking off.

   "Love you too." He replied.

   "Sounds like you've done this before." Michael grinned.

   "Mistakes were made. I wouldn't say I'm obsessed though." Leo shrugged.

   "I see. So who's the lucky girl?" Anthony grabbed his drink.

   "Her name is Cherri."

   "Mary's friend?" Michael asked.

   Leo raised his eyebrows, "you know Mary?"

   "Small world." Anthony replied. "Is that why you're so interested in Joseph and Darius?"

   "Mm. Seems like Darius gets away with a lot of shit. And he enjoys harassing Cherri."

   "Ohhh. I know that tone." Michael leaned forward. "You want to kill him."

   Leo glanced at Michael. "...Maybe."

   "Not maybe. I know you do. There are thousands of Commissioners out there. Some much more compliant than him. They're both extremely expendable."

   "There's too much work afterwards for me to actually enjoy killing him, so I'm not sure."

   "Non-sens, ami. You're not doing it right. It's /very/ enjoyable. I can show you." Michael smiled.

   "Really?"

   "My warehouse has more supplies. We can bring Darius there and I'll show you how much fun it is."

   "Oh great. There are gonna be two Michaels running around." Anthony mumbled. "Kill Darius and we'll have to kill Joseph too."

   "Of course, I'll handle that too. Guilt is probably tearing away at him anyway." Michael chuckled.

   "What did he do? Kill someone for you guys?" Leo asked.

   "Oh this has nothing to do with us. I think this will interest you since it involves Cherri."

   Michael was right. He had Leo's full attention.

   "I'm sure you heard about Michaela; Cherri's mother. Richard killed her."

   "He what?" Leo was stunned, "and Joseph covered it up?"

   "He couldn't lock up his best friend of course." Anthony shrugged.

   So not only was Richard a drunken asshole, he was a goddamn murderer. Leo left Cherri with a murderer. The only reason why she hasn't told anyone is because she thinks no one can help her. He had to get her out of there, or at least convince her that she can leave. It would be better to have her go thinking it was her own idea.

   "I think we should start with Darius. I'd like to save Richard for last." Leo finally spoke after a moment.

   "I like you." Michael grinned.

   "I need to get Cherri away from him first."

   "Alright. Sounds like a plan." Michael nodded.

   A plan indeed.

On Zine Spooks and Screamers

For those of you that have managed to stay blissfully uninvolved in the recent BnHA Hallowzine mess, I suggest you exit immediately. A lot of shit went flying recently and this is messy as hell.

For those of you who unfortunately bought the zine, you might have seen the recent posts about the zine refunds (Dave’s post, How to file a chargeback, Official Cancellation), but what really caught fire recently was an ask sent to the bnha bday zine asking why Michaela (the main hallowzine mod) was on the project and how they planned to address it. Amy, Michaela’s roommate and bday zine co-mod, answered the question and lied about Michaela’s communication with buyers and blamed contributors for the scam ‘rumors’. This was incredibly upsetting to hear because contributors have been dealing with concerned buyers for months due to mods’ inactivity and unwillingness to answer questions, and we genuinely had no way of contacting Michaela nor even knew what had happened with the mods. And here’s the main reason why:

I will be backing this up with screenshots, but the gist is: after receiving weeks of receipt promises and updates but only getting ghosted, contributors decided that we had enough of the anxiety and stress of dealing with mods not giving us honest updates. It was two and a half months past POs closing and as far as we could tell, nothing was ordered nor even prepped. So we gave mods an ultimatum: show proof that the zine was actually where they claimed it to be or begin being honest with us within 48 hours, or we were walking out. Mods ignored us up until the final hour, at which point Michaela posted this:

For those having trouble reading it, it says:

Hey guys, just popping in to drop a state of the Zine sort of thing. I understand everyone is frustrated, and we’re all a little more than exhausted. I’m currently working on getting refunds for what I can, and then working toward refunding customers. I wish things had been able to work out differently, but I’ll bare the responsibility for that in not being as forthcoming as possible when it was necessary, regardless of personal reasons. It’ll take some time to process everything, and potentially recoup funds on my own time for anything that is unable to be refunded back to me. I would attempt to push through what I can, but honestly my personal health is at far too severe of a place right now to be juggling a secondary plan of action for moving forward. You’re all, of course, more than free to share your pieces. If questions are raised, the best point of contact is quirkortreat@gmail.com, as that’s where all of these next steps will be handled. Thank you for all the hard work you put in, I do wish it had turned it differently than this.

This was posted Saturday at 12:30 PM (PST), roughly 33 hours into the ultimatum. Michaela had left the instant she posted it and none of us could get in contact with her. 

And most distressingly, 3 hours later and nothing posted on the official blog. 5 hours. 8 hours. 12 hours.

Nothing.

That is why contributors started posting notice of the zine being cancelled, why we were so frantic to warn everyone to start filing chargebacks. It was not until a full 24 hours later when Michaela finally posted an official notice (Dec 2, 12:43 PM PST). We were already upset that a zine we all worked hard on and were happy to be a part of resulted in a mod dumping us and appearing to run off with the money.

We didn’t say it immediately, we didn’t say to be petty. We were genuinely worried that the mod had run off with thousands of dollars in a project we were all attached to.

So seeing this post, with Michaela’s roommate accusing us of spreading rumors, was incredibly upsetting. We are not the ones at fault. We are not the ones lying. Michaela ghosted the formatting mod back in August but blamed the hold ups on them (x). Dave detailed Michaela’s unprofessionalism better than I could here, but Amy attacked Dave for calling out the lies. Hallowzine mods had ghosted contributors for months--we had no reason to trust they’d be in contact. The only way we could ever get a hold of them was through multiple pings of the course of several days and we just lost that, the blog just as silent. Our work was used in this farse and we’d just been dumped. We were right to call it out. Especially since Michaela only promised refunds after we demanded receipts for everything she claimed to have purchased--amazing how demanding proof of something she supposedly did months ago is the only thing that results in Michaela doing something, hmm?

We didn’t just barrage Michaela needlessly--we offered help, we asked them for the receipts they should’ve had and a PDF they said was partially done. All of this was something that could’ve been done, but instead mods just pointed fingers and gave us vague responses that either said nothing or contradicted other responses. We wouldn’t have had to constantly ping mods if we could be given an answer straight away or buyer concerns properly addressed. 

I didn’t want to have to say anything about this because I didn’t this to drag on ever more than it has, but contributors are not the ones at fault and I am not okay with Amy blaming us for the issues on this zine. The blame is quite firmly on the mods for this and until everyone gets their money back, we’ll be damned if we were used in a scam.
