September 2020 Monthly News Round-Up

It’s round-up time! Below the read more is a compilation of some notable news stories that we haven’t previously posted about.

This month features, two new 2021 collaboration units between different production companies, an idol world veteran announcing her departure, a resuming of activities from a hiatus group, and always more!

AKB48

On September 24th it was announced that Riru Nonoya, Karin Shiobara, and Miyuu Inoue have withdrawn from the group. No reason was cited for their sudden departure. [x*]

CHEЯRSEE

Former leader, Nene left the group on September 30th. She cited that the direction she wanted to take the group, and the direction management decided for the group was too different and thus she left. She is also exiting the entertainment industry as well. Her original statement is HERE and a fan translation in English is HERE.

DEARSTAGE and IQ Project

The two companies have come together to launch the “Dear IQ Tofuku Joint Unit”. This project will consist of two, three member idols units, one in Tokyo the other in Fukuoka, and one, six member combined unit. The members of these units will be picked from DDSPMSTARS and IQ Projects research students, with a debut to come in 2021! The promotional video in Japanese can be viewed HERE!

Elfloat

The group announced that they will disband after their final event on October 30th. [x*]

FES☆TIVE

Member Saeko Kondo has announced that she will graduate from the group, after the group transfers from RIZE Production to Zeroichi Familia. Her graduation concert will be November 14th, 2020. [x*]

Hinatazaka46

Member Honoka Matsuda has been diagnosed with an eye disease and currently hospitalized for treatment as disclosed from her blog. [x*]

HKT48

Member Anna Murashiga has tested positive for COVID-19 on September 20th. At this time, HKT48 has been cancelled and postponed as staff, members and additional close contacts are being tested. [x*] As a follow up the members and staff tests for COVID-19 have all tested negative. Anna is continuing her treatment at this time. [x*]

I.D.And Fly LooM

The group has announced that they will disband on October 24th. [x*]

Jewel☆Ciel

Member, Emi Ando has announced that she will be graduating from the group on December 27th. Additionally, she is moving on from being an idol after an extended career as an idol since she was 9 years old. [x*]

Kamen Joshi

Member Mayu Kusunoki has announced that she will be graduating from the group in December. [x*]

Keyakizaka46

Member Nijika Ishimori has annouced that she will be graduating the group when they change their name from Keyakizaka46 to Sakurazaka46 in October. She says that she wants to pursue a new challenge after graduating the group. [x*]

Last Idol

Member Kana Asahi has announced that she will graduating from the group in December. The exact date has yet to be announced. [x*]

Live Planet and Rize Production

Both companies have come together to annouce a new idol group to debut in 2021! More details have yet to be annouced, but are coming soon. [x*]

Merry Bad End

Member Honami will be graduating the group from the group at the end of October. She doesn’t intend to continue idol activities, but will be working in creating costumes for idols in the future. [x*] [x*]

NILKLY

The group, due to the continued difficulties of COVID-19 have decided to suspend their activities starting in October. Additionally, on September 25th Mei Hirasawa graduated from the group. [x*]

NMB48

Member, Suzu Yamada has annouced that she will be leaving the group to persue acting. She will be performing through October, and the date has not been set yet. [x*]

Nogizaka46

Members Kaede Sato and Yuuki Yoda tested positive for COVID-19 on August 27th. They have no close contacts in Nogizaka46. [x*] As a follow up, the duo after completing quarantining at home, they were re-tested on September 11th and are now free of the virus. They have resumed activities with the group. [x]

RAYMAY

The group has continued on as a trio, as former member Coa left the group as of September 1st. Coa cited her reason for leaving as growing concerns regarding COVID-19. [x*]

Sakura Gakuin

The group has announced that in August 2021, they will disband. [x*]

Sakurazaka46

Formerly known as Keyakizaka46, the group has announced their new name. Starting from October 14th they will be using this name. [X] [x*]

Shiritsu Ebisu Chuugaku

A 55-year old man has been arrested for threating to kill a member of the group online. He has allegedly (as of writing) admitted to this offense. [x*]

SKE48

Member Yukino Shirai has announced that she will be missing events in early October due to losing her voice temporarily. [x*] Additionally, the group will begin holding performances at their theater starting October 26th. The fine details, such as audience numbers, schedule will be announced later. [x*]

SKIRMISH

The group has announced on September 26th that the group will be disbanding in November. [x*]

Up Up Girls; Kakko Kari, 2 and Pro Wrestling

Up Up Girls announced on September 1st that the current ‘regime’ would be retired at their next live and a new ‘regime’ would take it’s place. They did this transition via their campfire project (https://camp-fire.jp/projects/view/313475?fbclid=IwAR2Sh-wqrVALoZtNTIG_WHSrhPDd8NZJZ8f24n9_MRJ9GVuO-G2luRClq_M). [X]

Yumemiru Adolescence

Leader Hanon Yamaguchi has tested positive for COVID-19 on September 12th. She currently has no symptoms and is self-isolating at home. Other members and staff are being tested, with results pending. [x*]

Zenbu Kimi no Sei da

Original member Mashiro annouced on September 30th that she has withdrawn from the group. [x*] That same day, the group annouced three new members; Shizuku Fufu (member color grey), Motochika Kasane (member color purple), and Amanechi An (member color green). The new members twitter profiles are linked on Zenbu Kimi no Sei da's official twitter.

9nine

The group has resumed activities online, with a new single on September 9th. They have returned after an “indefinite” hiatus in April 2019. [x*]

=LOVE

Member Hitomi Takamatsu returned to group activities on September 6th, for their 3rd Anniversary. Until this return, she had been on hiatus since last September. Welcome back Hitomi! [x*]
