Forget the room was messy. Tell me about the coffee mug with lipstick on the rim, sitting next to an overflowing ashtray. The books stacked haphazardly, their spines cracked, their pages dog-eared like they’ve been lived in. The old sweater on the chair, still holding the ghost of someone’s shape. Details don’t just paint a picture, they tell a story.

A Short Ask List About Love.
Tumblr media
Does your OC have any difficulty distinguishing between love and lust?
Is your OC at all romantic themselves? Or is romance something they expect others to perform for their benefit?
What does your OC look for in a romantic (or perhaps purely sexual) partner? Is this always healthy?
Does your OC consider themselves to be attractive? Do they put much effort into achieving this?
Would your OC ever take advantage of someone's romantic feelings in order to manipulate them?
Has your OC ever had their heart broken? Have they ever truly recovered?
What is the most romantic gesture your OC has ever performed? Alternatively (or additionally), what romantic gesture would they most like to perform?
Does your OC pursue only monogamous relationships? Or are they open to other, more creative, options?
If your OC were ever to fill out a Dating Site (or pamphlet or newspaper) profile, then what would they include?
Does your OC have a type? Have they ever been surprised by their feelings for someone who doesn't fit this?
Has your OC ever been the object of someone's affections that they did not (or could not) reciprocate?
If your OC were in love, how might they recognise this? Or would they be too much in denial?
Has your OC ever written a love letter (or text message or whatever the case may be)? Perhaps they have even composed a love poem or song dedicated to their beloved?
If they wish to impress someone for whom they have romantic (or at least sexual) feelings, does your OC attempt to present themselves as more confident, wealthy, popular or otherwise impressive, than they truly are?
Is your OC easy to love? If not, then what are the barriers?

Writing your Character's "Soulmate"
Tumblr media
Soulmate - someone with whom you share immense compatibility.
Deep connections forge soulmates, and while people often see soulmates through a rom-com lens as a love story-perfect match, soulmates can transcend much more than romantic love.
It is possible that your true love—your spouse or romantic partner—is your soulmate, but you can have another or a different soulmate, like a best friend, mentor, or professional partner.
Healthy relationships outside of marriage are essential.
Still, when people mention a soulmate, they often refer to “the one”: the person with whom they share an instant connection and romantic interest.
No matter what kind of soulmate you have or seek, this person will uplift and fulfill you in life-changing ways.
Types of Soulmates
Several types of relationships can be soulmates. Consider the following strong connections that can be soulmates:
Best friends: A best friend can be a soulmate. A best friend might be someone you’ve known since middle or high school or from an adult friendship. Best friends will foster a deep connection and find it easy and fun to be in each other’s presence. Best friends may go on trips together, support one another’s families and life goals, and be there in times of difficulty to help each other.
Karmic soulmates: A karmic soulmate will come into your life to teach you something or provide a need. Each person may bring particular skills to the table in this soulmate connection, but both unite in a shared vision.
Life partners: A life partner—a spouse or significant other—can be a romantic soulmate. This soulmate relationship usually entails building a home and family together. Unconditional love is a marker of this kind of soulmate.
Twin flames: A twin flame connection describes a relationship in which each person sees a part of themselves in the other. Twin flames might share specific qualities, passions, or insecurities. Twin flame love can be platonic, emotional, romantic, intellectual, or a combination. Sometimes it is an artistic collaborator, mentor, or standalone friend with whom you share a deep bond.
Finding Your Soulmate
Pay attention to the following 5 signs, pointing to someone being your soulmate:
You can easily spend time together. There should be little to no tension when you spend time with a soulmate; your hours together will take on a breezy quality, and time passes quickly. Soulmates can and do have disagreements, but the important thing is that you always act toward one another from a place of love and find room in your heart for forgiveness.
You care about their well-being. You will want to genuinely support your soulmate’s family, career aspirations, and ventures outside of your relationship, and they should want the same happiness for you.
You feel a spark around the person. You might feel a romantic spark—an ineffable feeling when you are in each other’s presence—but it also may be a platonic or intellectual spark. Whatever it is, it will feel contagious and like you want to spend more time together.
Your self-confidence increases. You may feel sunnier when spending time with a soulmate. This person should make you feel better about yourself, raising your self-esteem. Similarly, this person should feel safe, comfortable, and celebrated by you as well.
Imagining a life without your soulmate may feel dark and lonely. Losing a soulmate can be a tremendous loss, so you may feel bittersweet with this person as you know how lucky finding a soulmate is, how fragile some relationships are, and how important this person is to have in your life.

I don't think Luffy is this willing to bow his head like this without the influence of Vivi during the Drum Island arc. It's subtle, but Luffy's grown quite a bit over the course of his journey.
And I don't think how overstated how big of a deal it is that Luffy's willing to humble himself in this moment. He wants nothing more than to reunite with his crew, but in this moment Marguerite's life is more important. I often talk about Luffy's selfishness as a character, but this is a good example of selfless humility, especially when you keep in mind what this sort of kowtow represents in Japanese culture.

Grow as a Writer by Growing as a Person: Tips for Self-Improvement and Writing Success
There is one thing that all writers should be aware of. To improve your writing, you must also be willing and actively trying to improve yourself. I know most people will probably say that who they are doesn't have anything to do with their writing, but it does. What you believe, how you behave, and how you treat others will show in your writing. If you're a person who has trouble seeing different perspectives, then writing may be challenging for you until you can learn to view different perspectives and really put yourself in your characters' shoes.
Just remember, if you're struggling, don't give up. Keep trying and keep learning until you get to where you want to be. No one is a pro at anything without continuous practice. Also, remember there's no such thing as perfect. No matter how much we try, nothing will be perfect. So, just go for it.
Another thing to consider is your surroundings. Your environment affects how you write as well. If you're not at peace in your surroundings, it will influence your writing. For example, if you have a noisy or messy roommate and it bothers you, you're most likely going to write that into your story and create a character that resembles that person so you can say what you want to them. That's how most writers cope with things. They create stories to resolve their need to react without doing it to the actual person.
However, if these things are happening as you write, it can make your stories stray from where they need to be, causing your whole writing process to suffer. And if that doesn't happen, you'll most likely get writer's block, which can feel very irritating, especially if you're in the middle of writing something you've been invested in. When that happens, we sometimes don't know why, but stress, aggravation, or burnout can cause your writing to suffer greatly.
In situations where life is getting too overwhelming, it might be a good idea to take a step back until things get a little less demanding if you're prone to writer's block. If you do get writer's block and taking a step back doesn't work, it might be a good idea to find things you can enjoy. Having a good laugh and finding joy in something can help get your creativity flowing again. Also, writing random words on a piece of paper can help you think of what to write. This can be extremely helpful.
Listening to and communicating with others can greatly improve your chances of getting past writer's block. Just remember that you're writing about people, so listening to and communicating with people can always help you come up with story ideas and get you back on track.

Development of Sung Hyunjae-ssi
From this:
"I treasure you quite a lot, Han Yoojin-gun, but." Along with the words slowly spilling out, Sung Hyunjae's grip closed around my neck. Then he lightly pulled me to his side. [...] Without Fear Resistance, the gaze boring into me as if to pierce inside would undoubtedly have given me chills. No, I might've been struck by terror even more than that and avoided it. But I could face him head on without a tremble. It wasn't normal, but that was why it was a relief. "It's not to the point of giving up part of my body." "Do you really think that way? When it isn't your life, but only an arm and an eye? Sung Hyunjae-ssi, there are still many things I'm hiding." My lips curved in a smile. "So it'll be more fun from now on."
chapter 101: Cursed Contract
To this:
A large figure holding on to me, whose face I couldn't see in detail. If I didn't have Fear Resistance, I'd be scared stiff. "Your eyes." Sung Hyunjae's hand came close as if to touch my eyes. "Is this because of me?" "Technically speaking, it is. I'll recover as I did before, you don't need to worry." "I don't think you can see at all." I don't like having a debt like this, Sung Hyunjae murmured. Still, it was better than Chief Song-nim giving his life. "Take my right eye." "Excuse me?" "Since I've already staked it once." [...] "I'll leave the left eye to the young master." "I mean, why is our Yoohyun-ie even come up here?" "Because if I kept you all for myself, he'd undoubtedly be angry. The young master will be happy to do for you." That... um, I thought he actually would, so I was even more freaked out. I pushed Sung Hyunjae, sitting upright. [...] "There's no need. I'm started to be able to detect light, and even if I can't see forever, other's eyes... uh, I won't need them. I'll just get a monster to be my eyes and raise them." Even now, using the Teacher's skill wasn't that inconvenient. "Besides, if you lose one of your eyes, won't your combat ability diminished? Why would you take such a loss because of me?" "If I had to choose, I'd choose you, Han Yoojin-gun."
chapter 314: It's a Holiday
From unwilling and threatening, that he didn't like Yoojin that much to stake an arm and an eye, to very willingly offering his eyes to a currently blind Yoojin, and this happens on a bed. On. A. Bed.

This is included with my last world-building post that explained the feeding habits of the incubi and succubi. For Bianca, her demisexual and demiromantic nature shapes her relationships. She doesn't feel attraction to someone unless a strong emotional bond is formed. Once it has, she experiences an intense connection. While Bianca would tell anyone she has pan-sexual tendencies, most of the succubi and incubi in Fantasy Worlds Collide are bisexual in nature. They can form connections to either gender, and their attraction is often very fluid, which is very typical of their kind. Still, Bianca stands apart. Her bonds with others are unique and very intimate, forming the core aspects of her emotional and physical attraction.
Unlike the majority of succubi and incubi who prefer to feed off of blood when they are on Earth, Bianca has an unique feeding method. As a celestial soul — even if she is trapped inside a human vessel — she can consume spirit energy, even cannibalizing her own to sustain herself, which is shown during her captivity by Shinra, Hojo, and Ravenscroft. She still gets an impulse to feed like a normal incubi and succubi. The addition of Jenova cells has intensified her cravings, making it harder for her to maintain control around fluids rich with life-force. When she's near these substances, especially during moments where her emotions rapidly fluctuate, her darker urges can and do take over. Unfortunately, this can lead to dangerous and unpredictable moments with Sephiroth, where Bianca loses herself completely to what she calls her 'inner demon'. During these times, she will often tear out SC-X's throat, leaving the clone Sephiroth was inhabiting wounded and needing a week or more to heal. This is further proof of how her true nature consumes her when she is overwhelmed by their bond.

When your Character "Lacks Empathy"
Tumblr media
A person who lacks empathy - has a difficult time taking on another person’s feelings as their own.
They may struggle with the cognitive and emotional skills to understand, relate, and mutually share in another person’s experience to better understand their emotional pain.
Types of Empathy
There are three common types of empathy that a person may lack:
Cognitive empathy: Also known as perspective-taking, cognitive empathy relies on the listener’s capacity to relate to another person’s perspective without imposing their own experience, point of view, or biases.
Compassionate empathy: A hybrid of cognitive and emotional empathy, compassionate empathy requires analyzing the underlying cause and effect of a situation. After someone explains their circumstances, you can demonstrate that you understand their situation on some level in an unbiased manner.
Emotional empathy: An emotionally empathetic person can mirror another’s struggles. This means they can care for another’s well-being through shared experience of emotional situations.
Signs of Lack of Empathy
While there are many different signs that a person lacks empathy, here are a few common traits that unempathetic people may display:
An inability to understand others: A person who lacks empathy may struggle to understand other people’s feelings, problems, or life situations.
Difficulty regulating emotions: Someone who lacks empathy often has a hard time understanding or regulating their own emotions.
Excessive criticism: Those who lack empathy may criticize others harshly and often. They rarely use validation to make others feel seen or heard.
Impatience: A person who lacks empathy may be extremely impatient with other people, their difficulties, and their emotions.
Minimal forgiveness: Those who lack empathy are often unwilling to forgive others for their mistakes or weaknesses or remember that other people are also human beings.
Poor listening skills: Many people who lack empathy have a hard time listening to other people, whether they’re sharing triumphs or struggles.
Self-centeredness: A person who lacks empathy is often self-centered or self-focused and has a difficult time considering other people.
Victim-blaming: Those who lack empathy are often quick to blame the victim in a situation, rather than considering the perpetrator or system.
Some Causes of a Lack of Empathy
There are many causes of an empathy deficit. They include but are not limited to:
A personality disorder: Some people who struggle to empathize with others may have a personality disorder that inhibits their ability to connect or communicate. Common personality disorders include narcissistic personality disorder (NPD or narcissism), antisocial personality disorder, and borderline personality disorder (or BPD).
Autism spectrum disorder: Individuals on the autism spectrum may experience different levels of empathy, interpersonal skills, and emotional intelligence.
Lack of awareness: Many people who lack empathy simply don’t realize it and therefore haven’t spent time and energy working to develop empathy. Self-awareness is a key step toward empathy.
Lack of role models: Many people who are unempathetic have not had strong role models for empathetic behavior in their lives—or have had many models of unempathetic behavior instead.
Impact of Lack of Empathy
Empathy is a foundational component to feeling compassion for others, building trust with others, and helping loved ones through hard times.
Without a sense of empathy, a person will struggle to care about anyone other than themselves, and may find it difficult to care about helping or listening to others.
This lack of empathy can severely affect their ability to maintain healthy relationships with others or effect positive change in their community.
Addressing a Lack of Empathy
If you find that someone you know—whether a family member or a coworker—is struggling to be an empathetic person, here are a few techniques you can use to help encourage their sense of empathy:
Address it directly. Many people who lack empathy are simply unaware of themselves or the struggles around them. While it may be hard, consider sitting down one-on-one with the people in your life who lack empathy and talk candidly about the situation. Be patient, kind, and empathetic in your conversation—even if they’re upset, the honest realization that they struggle to experience empathy is the first step toward actively developing the skill.
Model empathic behavior. One of the strongest ways for a person to develop empathy and emotional connections with others is to surround themselves with good role models of empathetic behavior. To help someone who struggles to be empathetic, display empathy in your conversations with them and in your interactions with others, being kind and generous to show them what it looks like.
Practice identifying emotions. Many people who lack empathy struggle to understand others’ emotions and where they come from. They may interpret someone who’s scared as being angry or someone who’s hurt as being aggressive. To help develop their ability to understand others’ emotions, practice identifying emotional reactions in others and discussing potential causes. For example, if a friend is having a hard time, talk through it with the person to identify how that friend might be feeling and why. You can also consider discussing ways in which you both could help.
Recommend professional help. Some people may lack empathy due to a mental health difficulty or major stressor in their life. Consider recommending a visit to a mental health professional or empathy coach to help them get their life back on track and make more room for empathy in their interactions with others.

Fantastic points, @bettathanyou!!
Tumblr media
Question, tho! Now, were you referring to when he saved Sofia at the magic show in 'Cedric's Apprentice' (which, like I said, was the only time before s4's 'In Cedric We Trust' and the finale that Roland's praise seemed truly sincere/earnest, instead of half-assed), or 'In Cedric We Trust' and the finale? Because as truly grateful as Roland was the first time he saw Cedric save Sofia in 'Cedric's Apprentice', and despite his view of him being challenged for the first time there (he even praised him to everyone as "the greatest sorcerer in the land"), it oddly didn't seem to last/mean as much in the long run, because he went back to treating him the same after that (and when he wasn't still overlooking, belittling, and blaming him, any other times he praised him for saving the day- or even being instrumental in saving the day- felt cheap in comparison).
But ever since Cedric saved Sofia at the end of 'In Cedric We Trust', I think that was the first time those nearly lifelong views of him (which began ever since the Incident) were truly challenged and permanently changed, because at that point he was finally in a position to truly appreciate (1) Cedric's words in 'Day of the Sorcerers' when he finally explained/unleashed all his pain and frustration over how he'd always been treated by everyone, and (2) that the Incident wasn't Cedric's fault at all- which they all learned in 'Through the Looking-Back Glass'. Only then could Roland truly understand (without excusing Cedric's treason) that Cedric was a great sorcerer and a great man whose life had been unfairly destroyed, and that Roland himself had played a part in that.
And by the finale (which was the next and last episode that featured Cedric after 'In Cedric We Trust'), you could tell Cedric was truly part of the family throughout it!
And like I said before, when Roland told Cedric in 'In Cedric We Trust' that he was wrong about him, I definitely hc he meant not only for refusing to trust him ever since his redemption, but also for seeing him as a bungler for so long; it was then that he truly saw that Cedric was a great sorcerer and a great man, and a great friend... just like Sofia told him when she advocated for Roland to give him a second chance in 'Day of the Sorcerers'!
@fantadym
You know how at the end of 'Cedric's Apprentice', Roland was so sincere in seeing what a great sorcerer Cedric was after all? Well, since Sofia had wanted to show him and everyone what a great sorcerer Cedric really was, do you think she felt bad when Roland and everyone else went back to disrespecting him after that (you just know Cedric must have felt like shit)?
Also, Sofia should have told Roland what she learned from Cedric- that his mistakes around Roland was really from his nerves (from his lack of support and faith, resulting in a vicious circle).
