Ormewood: Well, that was pointless. They didn't see a damn thing. [sees Will] No! No! What the hell's your boyfriend doing here, huh? What, did you chase the ambulance here, Trent? Stay away from my case, okay?
Angie: Okay, listen. Park Police called him in. If we don't play ball, they can push us off of this.
Ormewood: The guy's a vulture. And a vampire. He's a vampire vulture, and he swoops in, and he sucks up people's cases like...
Will: I can hear you, you know, through the curtain. Everyone can.

Angie says "I know you're only 5 pounds, but you really feel like 6". 3. Will watches this and he smiles. End ID.

I’m really loving Will Trent
Is it believable? Hell nah, but I can guess the plot twists accurately enough to make me feel smart without it feeling predictable
The characters’ chemistry is off the charts and I love all their interactions. They’re all in a platonic love/hate relationship with each other and it’s my favorite thing ever
But most importantly: the disability rep is really good??? I’m not dyslexic or diabetic but the writers are very specific and very intentional when it comes to portraying these conditions. The discussion around the characters’ disabilities and how that factors into their sense of self and their social identity really hits for me. We also got substance abuse disorder, ptsd, and hints of ocd, autism, and ied
It’s not perfect by any means (kinda feels like they forgot about Faith’s diabetes after a handful of episodes, but I believe she’s just girlbossing (she’s on top of it and it doesn’t impact her work much anymore)) but I really like it. I’m focusing on the disabled rep because that’s my area of expertise but it also handles racism, SA, child abuse, and sexism with a lot of care while still keeping it somewhat casual (aka it doesn’t feel forced and they don’t waste time explaining what it is or why it’s bad, just addressing how it impacts our main cast). This shit affects these people, but it’s not all they are. I think it strikes that balance fairly well, but thats just my opinion and others may disagree
Regardless: I feel really seen in this show (from the leads bonding over being infantilized for their disabilities to me getting inordinately excited to see a character carrying a medication I’m on) but if that’s not enough, we got a puppy named Betty and her badass nonbinary dogsitter who steal the show every time they’re on screen, so maybe check it out (be sure to research TWs beforehand tho, it gets dark)

Amanda: One of the women the killer took back in the '80s... she was your mother.  Will: My mother was a Jane Doe.  Amanda: No. She wasn't.  Will: Someone left me in a dumpster.  Amanda: She was on my beat. I knew her. You look just like her.  Will: My mother was on your beat?  Amanda: She was a prostitute.  Will: What was her name?  Amanda: Lucy. Lucy Morales.  Will: Morales, huh? Did she want me?  Amanda: Yes.  Will: ...  Amanda: Will, I'm sorry. I just thought you'd be better off not knowing.  Will: I've carried this emptiness my entire life. This hole! Who the hell are you to decide something like that for me, huh?

I loved the season finale of Will Trent. THAT's how you write a plot twist you guys.
Everyone and their uncle guessed who the killer was (I mean the viewers. And wasn't it satisfying to be right? You bet it was.) The real punch came from what happened after. The emotional rollercoaster of the consequences for the main characters.
And now, we really have no idea how they are going to write themselves out of this hole, but it's going to be a Journey(tm). In January? Serously? That's one long hiatus...
But that's the main MCs and I'm more invested in the secondary MCs. Or. One of them, actually, Michael Ormewood.
Tumblr media
The other day I had a moment of trepidation reading some fans' takes in comments on tvline and spoilertv. Many people who read the books seem to want Ormewood to become more like his character from those pages. I would hate it, if that happened.
I don't exactly know the backstory of the book-Ormie, but the one in the show is an ex-army vet with anger issues (yes, I have a type, what of it?). In season one he said he's "doing the work". In season two we saw him doing the work, stepping up for his kids, when his wife left to "find herself again" (good for her). He struggled (that episode with Cooper's braids was golden), but he's coming into his own (it's a process).
And Jake McLaughlin is wonderful in that role. He can be ruthless and aggressive, but in the scenes with the kids he's so gentle and caring it melts my heart.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It would be a shame to waste all that progress, for the shock value of Ormewood becoming a murderer (because his life turned out not quite how he expected). Please, dear writers, I know you're better than that.
The scenes between Ormewood and his wife Gina in the finale gave me hope, that he's not going to be thrown under the bus here. Another storyline is possible for him in season three -- the custody battle. Or adjusting to shared custody. Or anything, really, but not a downward spiral.
I keep my fingers crossed for that and meanwhile, omg, I have a vague idea for a fic. A real, genuine inspiration, that gives me that nice, warm, fluffy feeling (don't get me wrong -- there won't be no fluff. There'll be angst and anger and pain)

At least we’ll get season 3 this fall….
The show bosses also explained that the series will feature almost twice as many episodes as the strike-affected Season 2.
ABC announced that Will Trent Season 3 will be part of its midseason releases during the fall of 2024. This means that while it does not have an exact release date just yet, fans can expect it to return later this year.

Ormewood: If there are no questions, we’ll move on to the next suspect. Will: I have a question. Ormewood: Sure, Trent. What is it? Will: What’s the point of human existence? Ormewood: I meant any questions about the investigation. Will: Oh... Will: Frankly, I’d like to have the issue resolved before I expend any more energy on this
