My D&D party over time
So I joined a campaign my first Fall semester at my university, and I’ve been drawing our characters as we proceed throughout the campaign:
Tumblr media
Us at the beginning of the campaign
Tumblr media
Us at the end of the first Season
Tumblr media
And us in the early half of the second Season

Sky has. Twice over.
The campaign I play her in started with the party each being individually hired by this Tabaxi researcher named Theome to help guard his caravan on an expedition into the desert to this “Temple of the Set.” Once there, though, Theome went missing, so the party went into the temple to search for him. Cue first dungeon crawl.
We found him at the end of the dungeon…but it turned out he’d been mad the whole time and recently freed himself from an enchantment that had “tamed” him. But with the enchantment gone he was free to do all these insane preparations for an alchemical ritual thing, which included blood from four people according to a prophecy: the Child of Fire, Air, Water, and Earth. Sky, it turned out, was the Child of Air. Other members of the party were the others.
Theome snuck samples of our blood from us and used them to give himself six monstrous arms (he started out with no arms at all) and then unleash these 4 elemental beasts of the apocalypse called the Set Beasts.
So that was the first prophecy Sky learned she was a part of. The second reveal happened over time as the party pursued Theome and the Set Beasts he unleashed.
Over time and over the course of several traumatic reveals…Sky learned that she was born as a result of a curse placed upon her father by the god of war, Mohre: that his daughter would cause the most war the world had ever seen.
Sky is…still coming to terms with that one.
Has your OC ever been named in, or the subject of, a prophecy?

Since I learned that there was a Shadow Chao and a Sonic Chao I wanted to make a little comic inspired by that rabbit scene from Mo Dao Zu Shi.

“They made them a conveniently attractive twink omg ruined design yap yap”
FOOLS. ABSOLUTE DINGBATS YOU ALL ARE. CAN YOU NOT SEE ALL THE SYMBOLISM????
I will defend this design to the ends of the earth. Yes they’re hot, that’s merely a bonus.
Tumblr media
1) that’s not a shirt that’s a fucking Galaxy under that suit. Mf has no body, just a vaguely body shaped void. Meaning floating head and hands that aren’t attached to anything. You take those clothes off and it’s the fucking void. They’re non binary AND sexless. Beyond any physical body, just shaped like it for fun.
2) the old bodies head dead in their hands and simultaneously birthing a foetus. That’s the circle of life, a rebirth, a metamorphosis. Chaos is above a god, they’re primordial. They don’t have a permanent appearance or identity. They’re ever changing. They look like this now, but if there were another game, they’d change again. They’re always changing, killing their old self and reshaping it. The wings have also moved and grown from the head to the back. Chaos expands indefinitely, bigger and unable to be contained in any way. They don’t even need wings, they can float. But they decided to have them anyway, just because. Because they can.
3) this is Ancient Greece. Suits don’t exist yet. Chaos took clothing from thousands of years in the future. They’re beyond time itself, they’re not effected by Chronos in any way. They’re in their own realm outside of time an space, they know things from the past, present and future.
4) the hair being the same colour as and long like many of their grandchildren, family resemblance there. Almost like they’re,,, missing them. Despite being this omnipresent being beyond human emotion, they still care in their own way. Copying them to feel some form of deeper connection.
5) the earth is an earring now. That’s how inconsequential it is to a being like chaos. It’s just there, an accessory, nothing special.
I could go on. Maybe I’m reading too deep into it but given the fact all the designs in the first and second games tend to have symbolism in them based on the myths the gods come from and what they represent, I don’t think I’m too insane for seeing symbolism here.

Ended up taking this prompt in basically the opposite direction, but it was still inspired by the prompt.
This is actually a scene from my upcoming character Hakara’s backstory. (If you’re in my D&D group and you’re not the DM, don’t read this!)

Her Vow
———
Rain drummed against the cairn, heedless against Ari’s vigil. When she finally let herself open her eyes, she watched the trickles of water find their different ways down the rough stacked stones. A few sneaked down into the seams between the stones, and she imagined them as tears she couldn’t make herself shed. Tears trying to find their way to where her Lady was laid to rest.
Ari shook her head. Of course they weren’t. They were just raindrops. Might as well be tiny water elementals, only caring about their own little world that only lasted brief moments.
A rumble sounded in the distance. Whether it was just thunder or a rogue elemental beast didn’t matter, it still marked her vigil’s end.
A beast…
Ari’s limbs wouldn’t let her move from her kneel. Not yet. Her conscious railed on her as hard as the rain on her back. She gripped the glaive in her hands—her mistress’s glaive—tighter.
 She took a breath, and her voice escaped shakily. “Mistress, I…They…Y’never had a chance to…” Her throat lodged until she cleared it and started again, “Y’were supposed to be victorious. Y’were supposed to find the beast. This…this weren’t supposed t’happen like this.”
Guilt weighed on her shoulders. “It’s my fault,” she whispered to the stones. “I…If I hadn’t tripped up…”
Familiar words, repeated across memories by her Lady, pecked Ari’s mind. Don’t just say your apology. Live it.
But how?
“I’ll do it,” she said. The words fell out of her mouth before she could catch them. “I’ll do it. Y’couldn’t finish your destiny ‘cause of me. So I’ll do it.” She gripped the glaive tighter and pried herself off the ground with it. “Mistress, I swear to ya.”
~~~
Ari went inside the little cabin her and her mistress had shared the past few months and headed straight to where her Lady’s armor rested. Untouched for months, a fine coat of dust blanketed the ornate bronze and steel plate. Resolve and grief drove Ari’s hands forward. The armor would be untouched no longer.
The chainmail rested along her body as if in agreement. Each plate snapped into place, one by one, the echoes being Ari’s judge.
The armor fit her almost perfectly. Almost.
The plate skirt went slightly further down her thighs than it was supposed to. The chest plate had the finest sliver of too much room.
Those gaps screamed at Ari when she studied herself in the mirror. You’re not her. You’re not her.
Ari tore her gaze away from the mirror long enough to reach for the last piece of her Lady’s armor. Her mask.
It was of similar make to the rest of her armor, but it had fewer scratches than the rest. A faint stain on the cloth strap from her mistress’s festering wound made up the difference.
With a halting breath, Ari clutched the mask and turned back to the mirror. She almost raised the mask to her face, but she paused.
Her hair.
Her mistress had had light brown hair, the warm color of dry frontier soil. Hers was too light. And too long.
Ari set the mask down reverently, then picked up her own dagger. Watching herself in the mirror, she raised the dagger to her ponytail, already tight against her head, and sawed it off. One strand at a time. One guilt at a time.
The severed bundle of hair hit the wood floor with a dull thud.
Ari frowned at herself. She’d figure out the color later. The old apothecary in town would probably have something; she could trust him.
But for the moment, she slid the dagger in its sheath and reverently picked the mask back up. Then slowly, heavily, raised it to her face like her mistress had done dozens of times before.
But instead of hiding a festering wound, like her mistress had done, Ari hid herself. She watched her reflection in the mirror turn into an echo of her Lady’s as her view narrowed through the two eye slits.
Lady Hakara would live on. Whatever the beast of her destiny was, she would slay it.
And Ari—her mistake—would be hidden.
