It's been a little while since I've made a poll, so I'm going to shake off the dust with a simpler question (although choosing an answer to this one is probably anything but simple for mystery fans.)

This is mostly oriented towards live action mystery/crime TV series, I'll probably do a later poll for animated shows or anime.

Which adaptation of Sherlock Holmes is the most queer?

*not including House M.D. because it's not really an adaptation, or any overtly queer pastiches like My Dearest Holmes or The Adventure of the Furtive Festivity because that's not really a fair contest

Watching Elementary. I will never ever get over how purely and deeply Sherlock loves Watson and how open he is about that. It isn't stated often, because it's a fact that's so obvious and accepted he doesn't need to state it. But when he does say it, when he tells her how we'll adjust his life so that she can be a mother, when he threatens people because she might be hurt, when he lets go of work because he trusts her to do it for him while he recovers---it's just so breathtaking to me. And that love is reciprocated, in every choice Joan makes--her adopting a baby won't interfere with their work/life, the way she cares for him when he's sick, the way she protects him from people from his past or his father.

They're not romantic. But their relationship is one of the best dynamics between the pair I've ever seen and I fall in love with it again every time I rewatch the show.

i will never forgive tumblr for what they did to cbs elementary you're telling me that in 2012 we had by far one of the most interesting and accurate depictions of a MODERN sherlock holmes with cute little easter eggs and characters from the original stories with great characterisation, INCREDIBLY written female characters (PLURAL), and one of the best platonic relationships that i've ever seen in media, SEVEN WHOLE SEASONS 154 EPISODES and you still chose bendysnap crunchyback. you were all too obsessed with english people and bad yaoi to see

CBS’ Elementary is everything to me.

Between the “i made you breakfast” and the “i’ll see you at home” and the “when was the last time you slept?” and the “i know you didn’t eat so i brought you your leftovers” and clyde going from “pet tortoise” to “our pet tortoise” and the “we’re two people who love each other” …

They are individuals in their own right and yet depend on each other so deeply, but it’s not co-dependency, they actively choose each other everyday all the time. They are two halves of a whole but they are not incomplete as individuals, rather they lift each other up. It’s so nice to see a holmes/watson relationship that’s so unproblematic and wholesome and loving. I love this adaptation. I just love them.
