Tolkien fans can be so bigoted that I’m always surprised whenever I open up LoTR and find that it’s a story about BIPOC coded little people saving the world from evil (with the help of an old ass little person who has DID bc of the horrors) and also a Native man getting his right to his ancestors land.

Idk djdjdjej#I also love how all the other friends are gahhhh… I can’t WAIT to see their other forms when mari’s getting the eyes#Fun fact this drawing was originally meant to be a redraw of that one scene with the cocobugs#Since it’s super pretty and I wanted to draw it#But it’s not in the fic yet (next chapter I think?) and the author takes a lot of creative liberties which I LOVE so I wanna read the scene#First before attempting to draw it#But I really hope they lean into the uncanniness of Sunny of all people surrounding himself with bug imagery#Since that goes against what mari knows about him a LOT and will further cement that something is NOT RIGHT with this guy

I’ve never been very far into the Watcher fandom because the unexamined racism has always made me uncomfortable as a non-white person and I was never super into the shows but I liked the guys and I was rooting for them as soon as Watcher started. I’ve always kind of vaguely followed the company at a distance instead, so there are only a handful of Watcher blogs on my actual dash. I happened to have some free time last week and caught the countdown and made the mistake of going into the tag. Anyway, I just wanted to say thank you so much for being one of the horrifyingly few voices of uhhhhh not-hate in the fandom and I’m really glad I managed to accidentally follow the handful of fans who aren’t terrible people. I’m really just a lurker in the fandom, but I wanted you to know that there’s at least one person lurking around who is grateful for the lighthouse. Another kitten has been found. Exactly 1 year and 2 days since we acquired our last random kitten in the parking lot. He’s all grown up and is evil now </3
The new kitty is little older than the last one was when we got him, all black.
Idk if we will keep him permanently though. As of right now the plan is to get him fixed in a few weeks and see if anyone wants him.

i wish we collectively could have an honest, open discussion about how unfriendly rp spaces still are to people of colour even if they are lead by people of colour, or well-meaning whites.
like, idk, there's still like antiblack events/scenes/dialogues that take place or biases towards white/white passing characters. this doesn' even begin to cover the cliquey nature of rp spaces as is and again, how biased people are and can be even if they claim otherwise. you could have the most open, friendliest space in the world, sure, but even then, they'd still be guilty of at least either: petty gossip or snobbish rpers who think they and the characters they portray (original or canon) are better than you and yours, or hell, just cliquey, exclusionary behaviour.
also, too, usually (i've experienced this myself a lot), if you're a person of colour in an rp space, 9/10 people who are not the same race as you will do just about anything to get your approval with portrayals/creations of characters solely to appease you and not because they have a desire to branch out or challenge themselves to make a character or portray a character that's nothing like them.

I'm wondering if maybe Roxy operates on the same principle of dogs that say you can't sit down without the dog being present at all times. Like does Cassie sit down literally anywhere and Roxy materialise next to her? It's not that she's desperate for attention or anything, it's just instinct to want sit next to those she cares about or something, ya know? Like if she really wants attention too, she'll do something to get it as well, but what if she operates on the Rule of Dog that dictates you can't relax or take a breather without Dog also being there?

The short version is that... so, the current quote she's passing on to me is that it's gonna be $800 for a new toilet, when I'm finding them for like $100-$200 at home depot, and I'm saying that we should get the plumber out, but I'm kind of gonna be grilling them a little on what's wrong with the toilet (they haven't seen it, they're just going off what my mom's said), and also why their price is so much higher than other stuff I'm seeing
Like, if that's a super high efficiency per flush toilet, I'll consider it, but if... lets say that the toilet is just fucked and we need a new one, well like I said I want them to explain to me what's going wrong with the toilet, but like if it's totally busted, you'll forgive me but I think I'll just take a trip to home depot pick up a new toilet, ask someone there to make sure I have all the shit I need to install it, and do it myself
like if the difference is say... even if it's $400 plus my labor, vs the current $1000 estimate... you see what I'm saying?
Anyway, my mom's freaking out and complaining about how sad she is about the toilet not working and it's like... yeah, fucking fair, but like... fucking go upstairs to my toilet a little longer to save a fuck of a lot of money
