It's always so weird to come down from the biology heavens to see what the average person believes about animals, plants, ecosystems, just the world around them. I don't even mean things that one simply doesn't know because they've never been told or things that are confusing, I'm talking about people who genuinely do not see insects as animals. What are you saying. Every time I see a crawling or fluttering little guy I know that little guy has motivations and drive to fulfill those motivations. There are gears turning in their head! They are perceiving this world and they are drawing conclusions, they are conscious. There's a lot I could say about The Subtance as an unflinching, gruesome close-up portrait of systemic misogyny, internalized sexism, self-hatred, and the brutality of fame, but more importantly, you know what I bet? I bet there is exactly one customer of The Subtance who is doing everything right. Week one, makes a living as a fitness influencer; week two, enjoys a lavish retirement funded by her other self's earnings. Week one, jogging, yoga, filming tiktoks, enjoying the vitality of youth; week two, Alaskan cruises, mahjong with the girls, enjoying unlimited free time and liberation from the crushing weight of the societal expectation to care what other people think of you. Keeps her other self on a nice air mattress with a quilt and always cooks a big recovery breakfast to be waiting for her when she switches. Walks out of that creepy alley every week whistling. Has no idea potential complications even exist. Every other user is living a psychedelic horror show of trauma, goop, and rage, and she's just at Barnes and Noble picking up the latest selection for book club. I know I'm alone in this, but I would happily watch that sequel.

It was a cat 3 when I woke up this morning. It’s escalating that fast. Please stay safe out there, y’all. I know some people can’t evacuate for various reasons, but if you can, please do. This page lists Florida shelters (including pet friendly and/or special needs) by county:

Plus Pinellas and Sarasota, which didn’t have any listed up there.

I don’t know who actually needs this info this late in the game, but if you’re affected, consider writing down some shelter locations (i.e. saved offline) in case you end up needing to go to a different location than the one you planned on.

All I know is, I didn’t take tornadoes in my town seriously until I saw one, and I know I would insist that everything will be just fine. If you can evacuate and you just aren’t convinced that it’s necessary—please consider it. I hope you’re all safe out there, whatever you end up doing.

Soap’s boots barely made a sound as he walked down the hallway of the safehouse. The corridor was dimly lit, with only a soft glow spilling out from the slightly open bathroom door.

“Morning, LT. I’m heading to the others, you comin'?” he asked as he passed by the door.

“Morning. I’ll join you in 10. After the mess from last night, I need a fucking shower first...” Ghost replied.

“Alright” Soap said as his gaze shifted to the crack in the door that his Lieutenant had probably left open by accident.

A moment.

Ghost stood in the shower, his back to the door. Water ran in long streams down his body. The overhead light illuminated the scars on his skin, each one a testament to battles fought and survived, like pages from a war diary.

Soap had seen him naked countless times—changing, patching wounds, washing off the grime of missions.

Get a grip, Johnny. It’s just Ghost. It’s always been Ghost.
