Oliver and I went to the brewery for one.
While I was there I noticed a couple in their late 30s. They seemed to be enjoying themselves. When she got up to get another beer he went to the restroom. On the way back he stopped to pet Oliver and tell me about his two dogs.
He also said he was on a first date. I asked how it was going. He replied it was going well. They met via an online dating app, he explained. He's been single for five years after getting divorced.
I have been married 32 years. Dating apps weren't around when I was single, so I'm curious to hear about the connections, whether at the brewery or on Tumblr.
When his date returned he gave Oliver one more good ear rub, which Oliver loved. I wished him well. He gave me a big smile. I was already in a good mood, but that made it better.
Prior to going to the brewery I had a flat tire fixed on my motorcycle. A guy around the corner from me has the same bike I do. We met a few years ago. He's extremely mechanically inclined. The guy installed a supercharger on his Cadillac, and it's run reliably for 100,000 miles since then. That tells me a lot.
He told me he changes motorcycle tires. The other day I got a puncture. Luckily I was close to home and got back to my garage. I called this neighbor. He said he'd be glad to help. So I ordered a new tire online.
This afternoon I limped the bike with my new tire to his house. An hour later my Yamaha was back in action. I paid him. This saved me from either renting a trailer or having a tow truck bring my bike to a dealership to get the flat fixed. There's no way I could have changed a tire myself.
Broken things weigh heavily on my mind at times. With the tire replaced a new sense of calm returned to me.

1929 Duesenberg Model J Convertible Victoria Coachwork by Rollston
Duesenberg Model J and Model SJ
Fred Duesenberg was a master of creating engines and was a creative designer. He had a talent for conceiving new ideas and ways of doing things. The engines he constructed were beautiful, mechanically sound, and advanced. E.L. Cord gave him one task: 'Create the best car in the world.' This was a very tall order and came at a very difficult time in history. The onset of the Great Depression and the Stock Market crash was just around the corner. Competition in the luxury car segment was fierce and involved all facets of the automobile. The cylinder wars that began in the 1920s and continued into the 1930s had marque's trying to outdo each other on the bases of its engine output, the number of cylinders, and the speed of their ultra-luxury automobiles. Styling continued to be very important and often outsourced to the greatest designers and coachbuilders of the time. Maruqee's such as Cadillac, Packard, Rolls-Royce, Hispano-Suiza, Isotta Fraschini, Bugatti, and others were all trying to out-do each other and continue in business during this difficult point in history.
The Duesenberg Model J was first unveiled to the public at the New York Car Show on December 1st of 1928. Only the chassis and engine were shown and it still impressed enough to make front-page news. The wheelbase was 142-inches making it nearly 12 feet. The chassis had a six cross-members made it very sturdy and able to accommodate the heaviest of bodies. The engine had dual overhead camshafts and eight-cylinders with four valves per cylinder. It displaced 420 cubic-inches and produced an impressive 265 horsepower in un-supercharged form. The engine had been designed by Fred Duesenberg and constructed by the Lycoming Company, which had been recently acquired by E.L. Cord. There was a brilliant lubrication system which automatically lubricated various mechanical components after sixty to eighty miles. Two lights mounted on the dashboard indicated when the lubrication process was transpiring. After 750 miles, lights mounted on the dashboard would light-up indicating the oil required changing. After 1500 miles, the lights would illuminate indicating the battery should be inspected. The top speed was 119 mph and 94 mph in second gear. With the use of a supercharger, the top speed increased even further, to nearly 140 mph. Zero-to-sixty took around eight seconds with 100 mph being achieved in seventeen seconds.

Here are some episode titles for Cars: Hi-octane adventures.
Radiator Springs rookies. A bunch of new rookie racers in a newly starting racing team come to Radiator Springs after they finished racing school. One of them is me, the number one fan of Cars.
Supercharged at Silver Hatch. Lightning McQueen has recently watched videos of Roary the racing car and he and his racing team have decided to go to Silver Hatch and compete against Roary and his friends.
Muddy Mater. Mater gets covered in so much mud, it’s making it hard for him to drive.
Smokey’s missing tools. Smokey the pickup truck has lost his tools from his garage in Thomasville and needed our help to find them.
Trophy maintenance. Cruz Ramirez still wants her first ever trophy, which she won at Thunder Hollow during the crazy eight demolition derby. McQueen knew the tape wasn’t enough, so he decided to go buy some gorilla glue, which is perfect for the toughest jobs on planet earth.
Family day at Radiator Springs. Today was a special day at Radiator Springs. It was family day. Mater had invited all his cousins, including his big sister Mato. Cruz Ramirez knew that her cousin Mateo will be coming too. Luigi is gonna see his Uncle Topolino again. Cal Weathers will be coming with his uncle and aunt. And Francesco Bernoulli was coming all the way from Italy with his mama.
Docenstein. It was a gloomy day in Radiator Springs. Lightning McQueen was missing his mentor, Doc Hudson aka the Fabulous Hudson Hornet. Smokey understood how McQueen and his friends felt. So did Junior Moon, River Scott and Louise Nash. I wanted to do something to set things right. So, after rewatching the scene from Frankenweenie where Sparky was brought back to life, I went to the scrapyard where I found the remains of an old and broken up 1950 Hudson Hornet. I knew that was what was left of Doc. I thought if Dr. Frankenstein was able to bring his monster to life and everything turned out okay for him, it would work the same for a car that was built way before the more high tech models. Will I succeed in jumpstarting the Hudson Hornet back to life? Only time will tell.
A double date drive. Lightning McQueen and Sally had arranged to go for a drive together for a romantic date. And Mater was gonna join in with his girlfriend, Holley Shiftwell. What will they see and where will they go?
Rotor the scaredy-chopper. Rotor Turbosky the Dinoco helicopter was flying to Radiator Springs, all the way from his home in the big city. Mater had invited him because he wanted to ride with him around Cadillac Range. But just as Rotor arrived, he began having engine trouble! He crashed, but he wasn’t hurt and there was no fire. After he was fixed, Rotor began to feel afraid to fly after the crash scared him. Will Rotor get his courage back and take flight again?
Jackson’s new engine. The next-gen racers were playing at the beach, when Jackson Storm’s engine blew up! He got his engine full of sand, so his race car engine had to go for a total rebuild. The only substitute was an old recycled tractor engine. Will Jackson get his race car engine back when all the sand is cleared out during the total rebuild?
Ivy comes to town. Mater and McQueen were feeling very excited. Their monster truck friend Ivy was coming to visit.

Debated a Tesla bro on the cyber truck and why it’s a shit vehicle for the apocalypse
Around the time I pulled out a chart showing that solar panels would take days to charge it for a single trip he got triggered and insisted musk wouldn’t let the super chargers fail
Bruh it’s the apocalypse and musk is sitting in a concrete bunker with the other mega rich cunts that infest the world he isn’t gonna risk rad poisoning in a Tesla branded power armor suit to keep the “superchargers” running let alone keep the power grid alive
You want a car for the apocalypse get a diesel and convert it to bio diesel… and make sure it has minimum electronics to conserve battery and if possible good shocks and suspension to use what is left of the roads
Or embrace the suck and just accept you will have to use the brown and black Cadillacs to move around the shithole of the wasteland

Cars Screen Size is the New Horse Power: Who has the biggest? from Our Auto Expert on Vimeo.
Revolutionizing the way we drive, the automotive industry is buzzing with the latest tech trends that promise to reshape our driving experience. But are we already at the brink of a tech makeover within our cars?
Imagine cruising down the highway in a sleek, futuristic ride, where the dashboard isn't just a control panel but a veritable entertainment hub. That's the promise of the newest generation of luxury vehicles, boasting touchscreens that rival the dimensions of a home television set.
Meet the contenders in this digital showdown:
Mercedes EQS 580 - Boasting a colossal 56.0-inch touchscreen, this powerhouse delivers with two electric motors, 516 horsepower, and a jaw-dropping 611 pound-feet torque. With a range of 277 miles per charge, it's setting a new standard for electric luxury. Cadillac Celestiq - Not to be outdone, Cadillac rolls out the Celestiq featuring a 55.0-inch touchscreen. With 600 horsepower and 640 pound-feet torque, it's a force to be reckoned with, offering a range of 300 miles per charge. Lincoln Nautilus - Breaking away from the electric trend, Lincoln's Nautilus still holds its own with a respectable 48.0-inch touchscreen. Powered by a 2.7-liter twin-turbocharged engine, it delivers 335 horsepower and 380 pound-feet torque, offering a different kind of luxury for the discerning driver. Cadillac Escalade - The epitome of luxury, the Escalade sports a 38.0-inch touchscreen. With a 6.2-liter supercharged V-8 engine, it boasts an impressive 682 horsepower and 653 pound-feet torque, though it falls short on fuel economy with 14/18/16 mpg. Lucid Air - Going green doesn't mean sacrificing power with the Lucid Air, featuring a 34.0-inch touchscreen. With 620 horsepower and 885 pound-feet torque, it offers an astonishing range of 384 miles per charge. BMW i7 - BMW joins the electric race with the i7 and its 31.3-inch touchscreen. With 536 horsepower and 549 pound-feet torque, it's a blend of luxury and sustainability, offering a range of 296 miles per charge. Audi A8 - Rounding out the pack is the Audi A8, with a combined touchscreen size of 18.7 inches. Featuring a hybrid engine, it delivers 335 horsepower and 369 pound-feet torque, with a fuel economy of 19/28/22 mpg. But amidst the excitement, BMW CEO Oliver Zipse makes a bold prediction: within the next decade, the era of massive screens dominating car dashboards may come to an end. Citing safety concerns and shifting consumer demands, Zipse suggests that the future of in-car tech may move away from oversized screens.
As the automotive landscape evolves, manufacturers are not only focusing on performance and range but also on redefining the driving experience through cutting-edge cabin technology. Will giant screens remain the norm, or are we on the cusp of a new era in automotive innovation?
Stay tuned as we dive deeper into the future of driving, where luxury meets technology in the race to redefine the modern automobile.
