He wasn't planning on it, but in the end, Zaeed is there with Shepard and Jacob when Garrus comes traipsing out of med bay like a beat-up dork.

He was surprised when Shepard barely let him past her on her way into Omega, but instead sent Lawson back to the Normandy and asked Zaeed to catch up with her and Jacob. He made good time delivering the batarian in his custody, but still he found the two of them ankle-deep in vorcha guts on his way back into Omega — right into the quarantine zone. Of course. Still, if there was one fact that presented itself to him almost immediately, it was that Shepard and Jacob were cut from the same cloth: soldiers who could brute force their way through solid concrete, with or without C4. He figured it would fall to him to deliver some precision — the biotics didn't leave Jacob with a full arsenal, and Shepard didn't seem the type.

His assumptions were proved right at first, the three of them gritting their teeth and working their way through to Mordin and then, to distributing the cure.

But then, their quest to find Archangel — help him, smoke him out if necessary — showed him that there was a commando streak to Shepard that gave him a new appreciation for her infamous skills. In any other life, he'd have called her a goody-two-shoes and be done with it: her idealism was the stuff of legend even more than her single-minded pursuit of truth. Her willingness to sacrifice Alliance ships to save the Council might well mean that she was cut out for hard choices, but it was when she set up with her sniper rifle right next to Archangel and took aim that he realised that he'd had her wrong. She got into the thick of it, unafraid of the bloody side of glory, and she looked her enemy in the eye rather than shoot them in the back. But the scope of a sniper was a different kind of killer. No margin for error, for one. No way of closing your eyes to what you were about to do, either.

Zaeed exchanged a glance with Jacob, then, during that hail of bullets from all sides, and it seems they came to an understanding then and there.

That understanding forged in fire, here he is, then: still hanging around with the other two to see what's the word on Archangel after he got nearly shot to hell by that gunship. And he's more than half impressed when Garrus turns up walking under his own steam.

"Stubborn bastard," he says appraisingly, and Garrus' eyes flick over to him from where they've been following Shepard's progress across the room. They track to Jacob next, who only expresses relief. Tense a moment ago, the turian's body language relaxes and he nods, as though he's grateful that they're here. Probably means grateful that they were around to save his ass, but Zaeed's not about to haggle with a man who's very likely daft from painkillers. He knows of Dr Chakwas by reputation, and she will have hardly let Vakarian go without a dose of the good stuff.

Immediately, Garrus moves to make himself useful, and Zaeed raises a brow when there's no protest from Shepard — no questions whether he's fit, no urging to rest. Either there are some circuits that got shorted by her rude awakening in Cerberus' facility, or she's simply not like that. He'll wait to find out.

Okay but this @ CB, CG, GG, Nerds, and apparently HOA. Everyone is losing their minds trying to figure out the first step in the casino heist. Absolutely no luck.

Meanwhile, they're all certain they need to cause the casino's backup power to be triggered to unlock the first step so the rest of NA/early AUS has to spend most of their stream with the city power out. I feel for you civs.

It's was awkward at first, when CG and CB and Friends first ran into each other investigating the casino but they just have to work around each other. K took Yuno along to C4 a possible spot to save him a C4(Only for Mickey to say Yuno, we tried that spot before). It does give Ramee and Yuno interaction though.

(There was a kinda sad Lang and Ramee interaction where they were in Dean's office and talking about how Ramee could've been in Cerberus but he had to choose his boys over business and Lang understood it, but...)

It's fun to watch. Frustrating but fun. (Yuno wants to give the casino booklet to Dean and ask him to read it to him as a bedtime story in hopes of him hinting things. OR just C4 Dean. Two very different things. I like the idea of Dean reading a bedtime story to all these gangsters)
