⁕ Salomè, the princess of Judaea, falls in love with the prophet John The Baptist (i'll refer to him as 'the prophet' to avoid repeating his name too much) and orders to free him from the prison he was held in (for condemning the marriage of Salome's parents, King Herod and his wife Herodias as unlawful)

⁕ The prophet rejects her, but she assures him she will kiss his mouth sooner or later, no matter what.

⁕ Salome's mother in the meantime convinces her daughter to view the prophet as an evil person that deserves to die (alimenting her fresh feeling from the rejection)

⁕ When Salomè is asked by her stepfather king Herod (who lusts over her) to dance she agrees only if she can asks anything in return.

⁕ Once the dance's over, Salomè requests the decapitated head of John the Baptist on a silver plate.

as per how tolkien made fantasy

I've made a conlang for my urban fantasy story. I'm still working on the vocabulary and word order still kinda switches between SVO and SOV but I might end up making the word order like it is in german where the its SV1OV2 where V1 is the first verb and V2 is the second verb like in the sentence Ich habe butterbrot gegessen (lit. I have butter bread ate) or I can make it that if you do SOV its more passive than SVO or just make it flexible like in russian but have the primary word order be SVO

Anyways

This conlang is called Angelspeak or kauxam /kaɯ.ʃam/ in its language. Its an analytical minilang that uses cv or cvv where vv is a diphthong and has the ability to combine morphemes (which are in a single syllable) into more complex words with no more than three morphemes. I say that this is a minilang because the morphemes themselves can be used as individual words and I'm not going to have an enormous dictionary. Also minilangs are easier for me in general and more fun imo.

At first I was thinking of having a tonal system like in mandarin but I keep going back and forth whether to have a tonal system or not and if I do it would be more grammar based than the tones indicating that this is a completely different morpheme.

This conlang doesn't have an actual writing and the culture of the speakers of angelspeak (the angels) is purely on oral traditions. However, I've made a romanization system for this conlang which is used by mortals in this world to create sigils which are used as totems and a form of programing language for enchantments. It is said that angelspeak can move souls and lifeforce itself.

I'll update this post (maybe) with a chart of the vowels and the consonants later because I didn't make the chart in my excel sheet but for now I'll just do it like this

I did make a chart of which diphthongs are allowed phontactically. In red are diphthongs not allowed in angelspeak. Also, there is no such thing as long vowels in angelspeak which is what ww, yy, uu, ii, etc. are

And here are all of the allowed syllables. Each syllable is a morpheme and each morpheme are characterized by their function

Adjectives and adverbs are basically the same functionally its just one describes a noun and the other describes a verb. Also there is a potential where I would remove syllables with /z/ but keep /z/ for verbs (or I might remove z entirely idk) because I don't think these z's fit with the sound aesthetic I'm going for which is silky smooth. too buzzy imo

For verbs there's present tense, past tense, future tense, progressive, imperitive, and vocative. here's the cojugation using the word lam which means to eat. to make it a sentence, I'm using the first person pronoun pa

Pa lam - I eat

Pa lom - I ate

Pa lim - I will eat

Pa lym - I am eating

for the vocative and imperitive I'll use the second person pronoun py.

Py lwm! - you eat (in a commanding sense)

Py lem! - you should eat (also can be translated as please eat)

Right now I'm still working on vocabulary but I add vocabulary as I'm writing my story.

Here's an example of the language at work

in the context where this will occur in the story, pe refers to a man but pe can refer to anyone of any gender. For the sake of translation of this, I used singular they because this is taken out of context.

In the story, I will translate the angel speak by having either the context of what my protagonist is thinking for example

this is scary. coi.

or I'll do it like this

coi. scary.

hopefully you as the reader would understand the angelspeak this way.

Fuck I should read some of tolkien's work to see how he handles his conlangs in his stories (bc I only saw the movies) but I have such a large book backlog that idk if I can tackle reading either hobbit or LoR atm while I have like, uh, six books that I'm still reading. technically seven but the seventh book I haven't touched in years

B - Superbat actually. I can thank @superbattrash for that, and @eliemo. I followed both of their blogs obsessively when I first joined Tumblr, love their work.

C - Brudick. I'm not even that intense about batcest ships I just hate this one.

D - Honestly I wish I was into Tododeku but I just can't get into it which is hilarious because one of my favourite fics is Todobakudeku.

E - I posted a Bizzaro/Tim fic to AO3 a while ago. I dont know if that would count as a crack ship or just a rare one.

F - 5 years in the Batfamily fandom and counting

G - I have! My first was probably Harringrove, which still has a place for me. Right now it's probably Superbat which seems like the natural progression.

H - I've got to say shows/comics. A lot has to do with the fandoms I predominantly socialize in but I have to say there's something charming about the visual medium because it leaves a lot of guess work. Unlike books, you have to sort of figure out what's going on behind the character, what their childhood was like, what their favorite colour is. Plot based or even episodic shows are best for this imo.

I - Nope.

J - Probably One Piece. I'm still not that into it but I like seeing the relevant posts every now and then.

K - Basic bitch answer but probably Jason Todd/Dick Grayson. Jason in the more obvious on the nose development and Dick with a similar but kind of more subtle thing. Idk they're just my little guys I love them.

L - Tony Stark is an interesting take on the rich guy dilemma, in that he is /gen playboy Bruce Wayne. I dont hate him but he's not for me.

M - Duke Thomas. He just seems like he'd be good at explaining what order to watch Gundam to me.

N - 1. Fanfics who's storyline focuses on the numerous black DC characters we have. 2. F/F ships that don't take backseat to the main M/M ship. Polyships like omg there is so much material in the superworld why aren't we on this guys.

O - "I'm not in love" - Kelsey Lu (I just pressed shuffle on my liked songs) This is BatCat for me especially with the "You're just a silly phase I'm going through" in this tone that tells the listener she doesn't mean it. Ugh I love this remaster.

P - MHA - military AU. I think it would be so cool to see the Hero/Quirk thing remade into a military setting, with the different denominations like Navy or whatever. If anyone knows any fics along these lines pls lmk it sounds so fun.

Q - Stranger things fandom because the Zionism just runs too deep for me to be an active participant anymore.

R - I love the friendship between Tulip and Mirror Tulip in Infinity train idk why it just stuck with me.

S - Green Arrow and Black Canary actually have an extremely unhappy marriage. They got together too young and now spend a lot of their time trying to avoid the issue of the fact that they don't actually like each other, or at least who they have grown into. This is sometimes touched on a little bit in cannon but it's generally agreed that the two are deeply in love with each other, which I for some reason disagree with.

T - Dick Grayson as an older sister. Every kind of older sister. The cool one who brings home boyfriends that the younger siblings crush on. The anxiously attached one who tries to hold the family together by the skin of their teeth. Dick Grayson is every older sister ever, and was written for women who had to raise their younger siblings.

U - Hal Jordan - I love this man and can probably genuinely say he is my favorite DC character, which is hilarious because I never talk about him. He was my childhood comic book fave and I keep him close to me still. Next is Iida Tenya from My Hero Academia. I live for the prefect nerd character in every show and he fit that archetype so perfectly except he's also built like a shit brick house which is yum. Last is Adam Parish from the Raven Cycle for what I consider obvious reasons.

V - Probably Nate Jacobs from Euphoria. I hate saying that but he is genuinely the most relatable character I have come across in recent years, which I get doesn't reflect well on me. The concept of this person who has experienced niche taboos from a very young age and grew up to be very angry because of it is not passed on me.

W - I hate it when female character who is stereotypically into feminism is seen as this really annoying out of touch character, whilst their busty counterparts are set up as an ideal. Also low key incest tension. Both of which are rife in anime fandoms all over this app.

X - I love a pathetic little sad guy who is hopelessly in love with a self assured confident guy. I'll eat this up forever and always.

Y - Fucking Bungo Stray dogs which I hate but for some reason has my people in a vice like grip.

Z - Uh...uh... the new DCAMU is objectively better but I really miss the old frame copy comic book movies and I'm sad they're era has ended
