This is not my typical kind of content

it's been a few days and i've been thinking about what is actually happening and what i can do to help. If you don't know, i'm an artist from Valparaíso, Chile and right now my city has been suffering one of the biggest wildfires in their hystory. More than 15000 homes have been burned to the ground, 100+ people have passed away and theres been an incredible amount of wilflife and land burned. As i've been fortunate enough to be ok and well with my family, i've been traying to find different ways to help in a situation where thousands of people have lost so much, in many cases, that includes their pets. I know that there's a lot of people that follows me that isn't from here and even if they would like to, there's not many ways to help from other countries. so i would like to be, myself, some kind of bridge if there's anyone who would like to help.

The majority of the people affected has been left with the clothes they were wearing that day, so they need need new underwear, they need water, stuff for their personal hygiene, clothes to change themselves, food, even stuff so they don't get hurt trying to clean what's left of their homes.

There's been a lot of injured animals that have been burned or they have lost their owners. They need medicine, they need stuff to clean their burns, they need wet and dry food, water.

So, as an artist who works and receives payment from other countries, if you would like to help i can put my paypal info so i can gather as many donations as i can and buy the stuff that can help this people that need it so much right now. How to recognize a scam targeting artists

None of these are universal, but all are red flags. One red flag does not necessarily mean it is a fake commission, but more than one is very sketchy.

1) They contact you in a way you didn't ask to be contacted. Message when you said email, email when you said message.

2) They tell you they want to buy your art and name upfront a large budget with seemingly no idea it is large; an attractive amount to give the impression they are rich with no indication they ever looked at your commission prices.

3) Nothing about their message proves they ever looked at your portfolio. They will say "I looked at your portfolio" but never name a single piece they liked or anything they like about your style. This could be a copy+paste message sent to any artist.

4) The commission they want is frustratingly vague. Usually a person who requests a commission has a specific idea about what they want; this person (or bot with a limited response repertoire) can't figure out how to respond when you ask them if they want a bust or a full figure, and what style they prefer. A portrait is a portrait, right? You get the sense they've never communicated with an artist before.

5) Wants to pay via an unusual method that avoids accountability. Tells you they have financial trouble and can't use a card or PayPal, but will wire you money or mail you a check or something.

Even if it is hard to tell at first, a few questions will suss these people and bots out! They are unable to engage with normal commission negotiations, so they're likely looking for people who are very new to the online sales game and desperate enough to ask zero questions. They will also manipulate you via pity. Don't waste your time on them! Block and report! I have gotten these via Instagram, Deviantart, and email (from Artstation.)

"Holy shit."  Lucas grinned.  "Babe.  Max.  We need a banana dog."

"No!"  Jane grinned.  "I have already ordered one for you.  It will arrive tomorrow."

"Jane, you're my favorite member of the party, it's official."  Lucas was beaming as Max dissolved into laughter.  "Max, we're going to have a banana dog, this is the best day of my life."

"We have a child!"

"But we don't have a banana dog yet."  Lucas shook her by the shoulders gently, making his laptop shake on his lap.

"Okay, okay!"  Max snorted and pushed his arms away.  "You're telling Sadie she's been replaced as the favorite child when she gets home."

"I'm pretty sure she thinks you're the lamest person ever."  Will smirked.  "She's not... wrong, exactly."

Commissions

I have decided to open commissions!

My roommate and I received some bummer news that our 7 month old kitten Beau has a grade 2 or 3 heart murmur. It was discovered when we took him to a clinic to get neutered, and thus had to put anything involving anesthesia on hold until he could be further evaluated by the vet. On 11/30, our vet agreed with the news stating they wouldn't recommend him going under anesthesia without heart monitors, and recommended him for a full workup with a cardiologist. Depending on his condition, testing could be costly.

We ended up opting to have him neutered at the vet so they could monitor while he's under anesthesia, which was more expensive than we had originally planned for. Beau has been neutered by the time I post this, but he will still need follow up to monitor his health and risks, and it has now put my account in the negative. I've also lost a source of income midway through October, and my roommate has lost her medical assistance meaning she'll need to look into more expensive medical coverage.

With the rising costs at my house and the loss of a source of income, I've decided to open writing commissions. I'm starting with just a few slots for now, with tentative prices that can be up for negotiation, because any help would be really appreciated. Hey everyone - we could use a little help, but this is more of a personal thing so I’m going to put it under a read more so if you’re not interested, no worries just scroll on 🙏

Some of you may know that when we moved to Austria we couldn’t immediately bring our cats with us right away, and they’ve been under the care of a friend of mine until we found a house we could have cats in. We actually just found a house for rent that we’ll be moving into in July and we will finally have our kitties back (that was my happy news I was going to share soon) but… something really unfortunate happened about 2 days ago. One of our cats got suddenly very sick. My friend has taken him from vet to vet to try to get a diagnosis, but so far nothing is clear. This is my problem: I hold USD in my PayPal to pay for inventory and to send to my friend for cat costs. However, I just placed a massive order for the new spring inventory which nearly cleared out my PayPal. All the vet bills so far have used up the rest of my PayPal balance. It’s going to take several days for me to transfer Euro from my personal bank account to my PayPal account to be able to send to my friend and he has another vet appointment tomorrow.

So basically, if anyone was considering placing an order from the spring cleaning sale and wanted to help out, the way you can do that is checkout with PayPal using USD. Any sale (aside from the shipping costs) will go straight to my friend so Tiger can go back to the vet and we can hopefully get to the bottom of this.

This is just the worst timing imaginable - if this had happened a couple weeks ago this wouldn’t have been such an issue 😢 I just feel horrible for my boy and I wish so much I was there with him, but I want to make sure I do everything I can from afar as quickly as possible. He isn’t able to eat and they think he has some kind of obstruction but the radiologist will be able to confirm tomorrow.

nomad also seems to be kind of sluggish sometimes when it comes to sending out emails with the codes. you can look for them manually by going to manage -> manage plans -> the plan you purchased -> installation instruction and scroll down to install esim via QR code or manual input then select QR code to find the QR code which you can screenshot and email to them. often just the act of logging back into your nomad account after purchase seems to cause the email with the code to come through though.

mogo

mogo's website is fucking annoying to navigate and i couldn't find any promo codes, but their prices are massively on sale anyway. you have to pick if you want your esim to be for iphone, ipad, or android for some reason. according to statcounter, android makes up approx. 75% of mobile markets in palestine while iphone represents approx. 25%. so i would probably recommend prioritizing donations of android esims but if you can afford multiple, try buying an iphone one too? if i can find any official direction from the connecting gaza crew on this i will update with it.

a good referral code to use for mogo is 8R29F9. the way things are worded are confusing but as far as i can tell, if you use it we both get a 10% discount on your first purchase. (the referrer gets a 10% voucher that allows them to top up in use esims, they are someone who i know has bought a lot of esims and will be able to make good use of the top-up discount vouchers!) also upon signing up it automatically generates a password for you which you can change by downloading the app. (check your email to find your account's current password)

holafly (also looking for holafly esims for egypt now)

holafly is pricier than the others and the only promo code i could find was ESIMNOW for 7% off. someone in the tags mentioned GETESIM7 as another 7% off code they had received, so if you have already used ESIMNOW or can't seem to get it to work, try GETESIM7. another 7% off code is HOLAXSUMMER7 which is valid until june 2nd. referral codes only seem to give 5% off and they don't stack. (i don't remember the source, it was on some sketchy coupon site i don't want to link to and only can recommend because i tried it myself) you can also use my referral link for 5% off if you can afford the 2% worse deal on your end, it will give me $5 credit which i can put towards buying more esims. connecting gaza has also posted the promo code HOLACNG for 5% off but since it is less than the 7% off codes and as far as i can tell does not give credit towards others to buy esims like the referral links, i would consider it lower priority for use.

some people have noted issues trying to sign up for airalo using the browser version of the website, it worked for me but if you are struggling you can give the mobile app a try and that should work. you can use a referral code to get $3 off your first purchase and give the code suppler a $3 credit for buying more esims. So yes, both of these images are STOLEN. And one of them directly picturing the victims of homophobic abuse. (That's messed up! Why are you using their picture to profit off of??) Now, you may be wondering why we need to look at a now-terminated (for scamming, mind you, but I think you've noticed that by now) tumblr blog. WELL. Turns out we get the link from...

So this does in fact, further support this post in showing that the person behind the current blog is also the person behind the deepeagletimetravel. After all, only the owner can change a profile unless they were hacked... but why in the HELL would a hacker just change the tumblr link, and why in the hell would you not change it to your correct tumblr? Meaning this is a new url for the buymeacoffee/AmeeradelzC, only the name was changed. The same exact tumblr link is on the archived version of the previous scam's fundraiser page.

Now. If casualdonutfire has an explanation for this, that'd be very welcome, because what in the everloving fuck is going on here? I have webarchive shots showing both the terminated blog and its fundraiser page, so WHY does this "new" fundraiser link back to it? Is it just a revamp of an older, existing fundraiser page? Very possible. Just as scammers will change the names on paypal accounts, they could very well just reuse old accounts.

By looking at the waybackmachine captures of the 'Ameera' fundraiser page, it was cleared out at some point from August-September 2023. From digging through reblogs to get better timestamp nonsense, the last post was around August 8th 2023. So if someone was caught as being a scammer about that time, cleared out their buymeacoffee page, and forgot to remove the tumblr link, that would check out, as the story was yes, cleared from that page sometime between August 4th and September 26th (based on waybackmachine captures).

What is Artsign?

Artsign is like making request and offer to pay, it’s not the same as commission because the artist can reject the request. Unlike Commission that you can ask for edit of the work, Artsign don’t have that process. So it’s like request, more of a personal use/support your fav artist👍✨

Most of my usual Commission Rules apply, however, for this round, I will be accepting 3-4 at this time, and I will only be accepting full payments at this time. Please be aware these slots are for JUNE/JULY. If you are not okay with waiting for them to be posted, or pay in full for them, I don't think I will be able to accept them this time around.

Hi all, sorry for being so quiet. A lot, and I mean a LOT has happened.

I am moving!!! ...and I lost my job for the foreseeable future.

I have rent and damage deposit for the new place squared away but since I move a day after my 30th birthday, maybe someone would like to get me a present?

In all seriousness, I'm faced with a list of things I took for granted that now I will need. Like dishes! Cleaning products! General pots and pans? Those oven mitts things to stop you burning your hands? Speaking of ovens, I don't own a baking tray! Or a loaf pan, or a casserole dish, and I really want to learn how to cook. It's cheaper than buying prepackaged stuff and just eating it, in the long run, and I want to host guests!

I also need a shower curtain and bedsheets but that's neither here nor there.

I never realized moving was so difficult but I am determined to make it work on my own (I cannot roommate anymore)! I am a disabled person going into disabled housing but it's still on me to keep myself alive, fed and comfortable. Big tasks, honestly. But I'll do it!
