Calm and Watchful - Green Heron by Georgie Alexon Via Flickr: One interesting fact I learned about Green Heron is that these birds are one of the world’s few tool-using bird species. It often creates fishing lures with bread crusts, insects, and feathers, dropping them on the surface of the water to entice small fish. This particular green heron was not using any lures to find his food this day. He was very successful without them. This photograph was taken on a sunny morning near Delray Beach, Florida -Butorides virescens
