I had an epiphany about ships today.

like, it has potential to be a funny idea on its own honestly. zuko doesn't survive taking that hit from azula during their agni kai but he's agni's specialist little guy so he just decides to let him do a round two. he just also has no control over where he'll end up, or who he'll be. he does at least, deign to tell the avatar about this arrangement so they spend all their free time after the war trying to find zuko.
(agni said he would make sure it was obvious. they're not sure what he meant by that.)
none of them think to look in si wong desert. they're all sick of si wong desert. this is a mistake, because that's where zuko is. just this extremely weird kid with eerie out of place gold eyes and a massive red birthmark on the left half of his face. sometimes he just knows things he has no business of knowing. he's raised by his uncle because his dad wants nothing to do with him, and his mom died in childbirth. when his uncle dies, he decides to leave the desert at thirteen and make the trek to ba sing se.
he doesn't know why. he just really wants to go there for some reason.
meanwhile, the gaang is just starting to wonder if agni lied to them... when katara runs into a kid with gold eyes and a huge birthmark and is just like. holy shit. now i know what agni meant by making it obvious. she has to go and find everyone right this second. she doesn't even think about it. she just straight up kidnaps the kid.
(oh no. everything his uncle told him about the city was right. it IS dangerous here.)
#the gaang taking bets on who finds him first#katara intends to collect by the way.#toph's the real winner here though. sparky bends *her* element now#aang is feeling VERY conflicted about zuko being a sandbender now. that just feels mean.#sokka can't get over how small he is. zuko's a BABY now#iroh is not at all jealous that zuko had a close relationship with another uncle in his life. he is fine with this.#reincarnation au

Okay, to jump off this post!
I seen some people going around saying that Jin is still the reincarnation of Sukuna's twin and Wasuke isn't, but he's the reincarnation of Sukuna, but honestly?
I still don't think that's even the case.
To be honest, I don't think Jin really is the twin's reincarnation at all.
I say that because in JJK, twins... identical twins share a soul, they are two halves of the same whole. Sukuna states that he ate his own twin and that their souls are the same. In one translation, he even says it's likely that Kenjaku had a baby with said reincarnation.
Likely means possible, but there is a chance of not being the case. Even if there is a small one.
Folks, Sukuna is allowed to be wrong.
With the extra of saying "to be precise, it wasn't Jin, it was Wasuke that shared the same soul" I would say it means that yes, Wasuke was the twin Sukuna consumed.
Again, identical twins share the same soul. They're two halves of the same whole. Wasuke just so happen to have been the other half.
It makes sense though!
Sukuna ate his twin to survive. He dies. Much later in life, Wasuke is born. When he dies, what happened? Sukuna is awaken.
It's exactly what happened with Maki and Mai. When Mai died, Maki becomes fully at her peak. It's because they were two halves of that same whole.
In a way, Wasuke is the reincarnation of Sukuna because he shared that same soul. Not a completely different one, just a half of that same soul.
Heck, bringing back up Mai and Maki, they act similar. Both the Zenin twins were snarky, rough around the edges, however, Mai was the more "mean girl" of the two compared to Maki who showed tough love in a caring way.
Wasuke and Sukuna were also similar in behavior. They're both were grumpy, a bit proud (Wasuke just less so) that it's hard for them to admit how they may truly feel (or in Sukuna's case, his refusal to be human). However, Sukuna is the "mean" one while Wasuke is the one who means well for the people he cares about.
There's also the "bad omen" thing with twins in JJK.
Sukuna was seen as a calamity. Wasuke, himself had some bad luck in life. His son was possibly killed by Kenjaku who he tried to warn him about. He didn't have many friends himself and believed that he died alone.
Both somehow repelled people. The only people to not leave their side was Uraume and Yuji, both who conveniently are associated with snow.
In the case of Jin, I really do think he was just some guy.
"But what about Kenjaku---" I highly doubt Kenjaku really targeted Jin for the possibility of him being a reincarnation. How would they even know? Jin did not look that similar to Sukuna. However, what I can see is Kenjaku figuring it out that Wasuke was the reincarnation along the way and figured the next best thing was to hook up with his son to have a baby. To be honest, I don't think it would have mattered to Kenjaku because regardless they still had intentions of making Yuji's vessel/cage. Whether it be Wasuke or Jin, Sukuna's soul would have still been mixed in there.
EDIT: Also, wouldn't that just makes things that much more complicated? I know JJK has some complicated concepts, but I don't think Gege intends to make things that complicated. Jin being Sukuna's "reincarnated twin" and Wasuke being Sukuna's reincarnation... wouldn't that mean that Jin is both Sukuna's nephew and brother by soul? Then make Wasuke his brother while also being his father? Yuji is Sukuna's grandson and nephew? See?
Again, I don't think Jin really is a reincarnated twin at all, especially with the whole "twins are two halves of the same soul thing". And didn't the translation stated that it isn't Jin sharing the soul but Wasuke? So why are some people even sticking to "Jin is the twin"?
#to be honest... i feel like jin was just a red herring#sukuna would guess that kenjaku would partner with his supposed twin because it's something kenjaku would do#however i think he is wrong#let's not forget what is said about twins#now if you feel I'm wrong or anybody else that's fine I'm not arguing with you though#jin always just felt like some guy who happen to be wasuke's son yuji's dad and kaori's husband#i like sukuna being the uncle and he still is just a great uncle#i just think wasuke was always meant to hold much more importance than people want to admit#jin not being a twin doesn't really take much away from him because we barely got much of him anyways#even the supposed reveal he just... was there#when he was brought up again it was yuji stating he didn't know his parents and wasuke raised him#after that??#just kiya's thoughts#jjk#jujutsu kaisen#jjk spoilers#jjk manga spoilers#itadori wasuke#wasuke itadori#ryomen sukuna#sukuna

can't wait for adaar to come back to cassandra after a decade of being best friends with dorian 'thedas' nr 1 mortaboo necrostan' pavus and then hanging out with a bunch of mourn watchers through all of veilguard and embracing her like 'I love and support you more than anyone in this world and whatever you needed from them that you didn't get I'll wrestle dragons and fight gods to give you now, my love, my lighthouse, my safest place to stand. but I must regretfully report that your folks fucking ROCK actually I think dorian was right about this one'

I've been thinking lately......I like the idea of Calenglad not liking Créa at first.
Like he's notably untrustworthy of outsiders, and can be a bit harsh and brash in his dealings with others. And in comes Créa, newly sworn in, young and in awe and despite her friendliness, he's stand-offish. He's suspicious and doubtful and maybe a bit harsh to her. And she wouldn't know why! Nothing she tries works.
She's lonely and feels that she doesn't fit in well, and Calenglad's cold welcome doesn't help things, despite her being Dúnedain. She doesn't have that many friends, and Calenglad asks more of her than others, and it never seems enough. She never complains, but she can't figure out why he has such a strong disdain for her, and while she loves Evendim, it's making her question if she's a good Ranger at all.
And I think a big reason why Calenglad has such disdain for her is because of her father. I personally think Calenglad and Baranhir were both very good friends with Arathorn, despite being opposites- Baranhir was kind and friendly and giving, and trusting- while Calenglad is slow to trust, a bit more dour, and reserved in his emotions. Créa has many of those traits that her father did. And I think there might've been some incident maybe that Baranhir was the cause of that made Calenglad dislike him.
Maybe Calenglad believed he didn't take being a Ranger seriously enough, even though in his heart he knows it's not necessarily true. Baranhir holds no ill will towards him and never treats him differently despite Calenglad's dislike of him, and that's okay. And maybe there's an incident where Baranhir is too trusting of someone, or let's something slip through his fingers, he's not fast enough, and maybe people get hurt or killed because of him that cements this fierce disdain on Calenglad's part- he clearly wasn't fit for being a Ranger, whether the circumstances were truly Baranhir's fault or not, and this only proved it.
Calenglad did feel some smidgen of guilt at his treatment following Baranhir's death years later, never having patched things up despite them both spending much time in Evendim, though Baranhir's time there lessened in the decade or so preceding his death- and that too he uses against him, thinking him not dedicated to the cause.
But I think Calenglad is like. A mix of emotions at first upon meeting her. A strange new "Dúnedain"- without a sindarin name, not very good at speaking sindarin, who only knows a fraction of their history and culture, who apparently is only joining now- and her father was Baranhir, Valar help him. There are a lot of circumstances that kept Créa away, and none her fault or within her control, but Calenglad, based on the sins of the father alone, already has marks against her.
And it makes Créa miserable! She already feels like an outsider, and despite taking every terrible job, taking his criticisms and beratings and his coldness, his opinion never seems to change. Even some of the other rangers, whom she's done good work for, wonder why Calenglad doesn't cut her slack.
And god, poor Créa. Her father has been dead a long time, and as a child she refused to believe it. He left over the mountains and promised to always return to them, and even as the years went on and the chance of him being alive was slim, some part of her still held out on the smallest of hope that he could be alive still....and then she finds out that he was buried in the hills above the city, overlooking the lake. And she is absolutely devastated. It was foolish to think he still lived but having that hope crushed, to see him one last time, to ask him so many questions, to just hear his voice...all gone.
And on top of everything else, she really does wonder if she's even worth being called a Dúnedain. That maybe her parents were right never to tell her. She's angry at the world and her father and mother and every circumstance that's led here and she's alone and struggling and just wants a friend. Someone who understands her. But she's an outlier and it's a heavy burden to bear.
And maybe sometime after that things come to a head- Calenglad is cold and biting to her over something trivial and Créa has taken his disdain for far too long and just EXPLODES. She rounds on him furiously and takes him by surprise as she jabs her finger into his chest and tells him off- that he has treated her like shit for NO reason, that she has done EVERYTHING he has ever asked of her without complaint, has done NOTHING but work hard and grovel and she is DONE being berated by him.
And she doesn't care that there are others around to hear as she tears him a new one bc she has spent so many months, if not years keeping this in and she has worked SO goddamn hard to be here and he has NO RIGHT to treat her like this. He is impossible to please and treats her as though she's worth less than the dirt on his boots! and by the end she is SCREAMING at him bc she refuses to be treated like this by him because despite everything she's done, it will never be enough- she will never be enough.
And usually Calenglad is prone to anger but he's just stunned at this. No one has ever confronted him like this, and he's realizing that oh. He's pushed her to her breaking point. Maybe he was a little too harsh to her as she's pointed out. She storms off in tears and after some moments he tells off the other rangers who had stopped to look at the spectacle and he goes off to look at the water and think.
And he's going back on how he's treated her and putting the pieces together as to why he's been so harsh...and eventually realizing that, Oh. He put his feelings against her father onto her, and never gave her an opportunity or a chance to prove herself. He had already written her off from the start and he never saw how harshly he was treating her. He knew very little about her and never took the opportunity to learn, as he did for the others. He did not put himself in her shoes; how alone and isolating things would've been, the pressure, the stress...and he had never once considered that perhaps he was going too far.
And it's a lot for him to come to terms with. It's uncomfortable and probably still a bit pissed, and though he wants to be angry with her for that blowup, he can't. It was deserved, as much as he hated to admit it. He regretted the treatment he gave her that brought them to this point. He let his prejudice blind himself, but his pride did not want him to apologize. Not yet, anyways.
But he does start to change. He doesn't approach Créa because he's not the best with words, and she is closed off and her demeanor frigid. It's a noticable change to her usual warm smile and words and he realizes he hasn't seen her happy in a long time, and he feels guilt that he was the cause of it. Things are very tense and clearly word had gotten around to those who weren't there, but Calenglad softens. He doesn't give her the shitty, hard jobs (as often). He doesn't nitpick everything she does, nor scrutinize so heavily. He pays more attention to how hard she works. And one day he even gives her praise. It was mild, but it was something- and even Créa was surprised, if not reticent, to believe his words.
And I think eventually maybe they do talk. Créa's preferred spot to hide on Tinnudir is behind the keep, close to the water (or maybe they talk in Tham Nambarth, before she's established her gardens). And maybe one day Calenglad seeks her out and she's surprised to see him there, and even more surprised when he says that he's not there to berate her- she doesn't have to flee. And then he sits down next to her and she's like oh god. oh god. uhhhhhhhh. and they're looking out over the water towards Rantost in silence.
It's a very long time before he speaks. And he starts by talking about her father- who he was, what he remembers. That the only thing they ever agreed on was fishing. He's had time to reflect not only on his treatment of her, but also on his treatment of her father, to try and see past his bias. And it's awkward and uncomfortable because neither know how to navigate this, and its a conversation long, long overdue. He tells her that yeah, he disliked her dad. But he wasn't a bad person at all. And he let that cloud his opinion of her- and he was wrong. And that he's sorry. She didn't deserve how he treated her and going forward he's going to rectify that. But he understands if she doesn't accept it.
And Créa sits there and looks at him bc she never expected an apology out of him. She's still pissed and hurt and more than a little bitter at him. But he's come out here (though he shouldve come MUCH sooner) and recognized what he did was wrong...and wants to do better. It's a small peace offering, but a peace offering nonetheless. And she accepts it. She nods her head and looks out over the water and they sit in silence for a long time, just thinking.
And maybe she talks a little bit about her dad- how he always traveled but came back to them, and that she remembers vaguely hearing stories of this place. Why her parents never told her- that she followed in his footsteps to find him. And Calenglad just feels like shit bc god. He thought Baranhir just fucked off bc he didnt take the job seriously and instead he was trying to raise a family!! He didn't know! And while Créa doesn't go into a lot of detail, she huffs a small laugh and says that he taught her how to fish, too.
And Calenglad has the ghost of a smile on his lips and tells her that...well, maybe they'll have to go fishing some time. It's one thing they have in common.
And tbh it'd be soooo interesting bc it would really make Calenglad reflect on his actions in the past and come to regret how he treated Baranhir- it takes meeting and knowing his daughter to realize that, and he regrets it immensely. The Rangers need more than seriousness and dour and closed off people- they need love and kindness and warmth, too. Calenglad and Baranhir balanced out those things when with Arathorn, and he regrets that he realized much too late and let himself be so against him.
And maybe one day sometime after, when Créa climbs the hills to visit her father's grave and talk to him about all that's passed...and she's surprised finds fresh flowers placed at his grave, lain thoughtfully over the stone. She smiles.
#OMG HOW DID IWRITE SO MUCH THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE LIKE TWO PARAGRAPHS!!!!!!.#NOT AN HOUR AND A HALF OF WRITING CALENGLAD CREA DRAMA!!!!!!!!#the girls are FIGHTING#i just meant to sit down and go "yeah i think he'd have beef with her and shed have to prove herself and then he doesnt care but eventually#they grow to have a good and strong relationship! maybe even father/daughter esque or her uncle!!#but NOPE my brain went SIKE WE'RE COMING UP WITH /ALL/ THE DRAMA AND ANGST#putting it under a read more bc its so much LKDFHLFGH#sorry.........idk what came over me#i just think créa needs some antagonists!! variety is the spice of life!! not everyone is gonna like her and thats perfectly fine!#calenglad isnt wrong to necessarily not trust her at first and make her work harder!!#but he is wrong for never allowing her to really ever gain his trust#i havent fully fleshed out calenglad in my head but i love that old man

Today on Very Serious Spy Scenarios, imagine Illya and Napoleon at the beginning of their partnership, with Napoleon happily pushing all of Illya's buttons every five seconds to try and see what will get him punched and what not. Illya is endlessly frustrated with him, especially because he CANNOT get a rise out of him, no matter how hard he tries.
And then one day, when they are arguing, again, Illya is getting desperate to Win This and so this conversation ensues:
Illya: "What's your problem, your parents never hugged you as a child?"
Napoleon, completely unfazed: "Actually no, my father barely spoke to me and my mother lowkey disliked me, so."
Illya:
Napoleon:
Illya:
Napoleon: "What?"
Illya: *getting teary-eyed*
Napoleon, now a little scared: "Peril?"
Illya: *bear hug attack*

The saddest thing is the witcher could have portrayed healthy found familial relationship in a non-traditional way, but they went and forced yennefer into the role of mother, geralt into the role of father, completely did away with jaskier, and didn't even bother to consider that every single witcher in Kaer Morhen could be considered ciris father, but no, there's a husband and a wife and a child and that's all there is to it
#witcher#the witcher netflix#geralt of rivia#jaskier#yennefer of vengerberg#also yennefer is historically NOT a good maternal figure for ciri#it was so ooc for geralt to just completely forgive her at th end of s2#like i have never had a child but i do have nieces and nephews and they are very dear to me#and if anyone pulled that sort of shit with them i would hunt them and waterboard them not cuddle them on a battlement jesus christ#also the fact that like the witchers are relegated to uncle positions is so fucking dumb#a girl can and should have 20 dads if she wants#bc like kaer morhen is basically a commune right#so they good have given us some good non stereotypical family vibes maybe some polyam#but they ruined it#they gave us two people who could barely stand each other forom the time they met and a lady who traumatised this guys daughter#and they were like nah its fine theyre gonna live happily ever after#WHERES THE FUCKING BARD#IS HE LIVING HAPPILY EVER AFTER#also fuck socially acceptable family dynamics and fuck netflix and fuck whoevers writing these godawful scripts (fuck henry cavill?)#and fuck the last episode for that unsatisfactory scene where they just cuddle up on a fucking roof like yen didnt give ciri trust issues#for decades to come#if i was geralt i would have slit her throat then and there#nothing comes before children#i was gonna be done here but its so narratively unsatisfactory like they havent seen each other in a year(s?) and his loyalty is with her#instead of his own daughter???#the man who prizes morality and justice over everything else?? is fine with dragging a literal child into her need for power??#what. the fuck.#okay im done#it could have been good but netflix fucked it the way they do everything so#fuck you netflix

I can tell this playthrough is my favorite because I just spent 30 minutes buying dye for everyone's armor based on what I think they'd like to celebrate finishing all their personal quests. An in character shopping trip where my Tav was like, "We've come so far, and we need to look good for the ending! Everyone's getting new drip, my treat!"
Whereas last time, I didn't care about outfit cohesion in the slightest.
Anyway I'll be ranting in the tags about my choices if anyone cares.
#baldur's gate 3#bg3#OK SO RAMBLING INCOMING#Shadowheart got custard and pink rose because she was tired of purple and black#and i thought something bright and fun would suit her#Karlach got boreal blue because blue looks good on her and she totally knows it#that one was mostly personal preference tbh#Astarion got lush burgundy because its described as being worn by wealthy people#and he has an image to maintain so of course#Wyll got faewild green and dun because he spends a lot of time in the wilderness#and it may or may not be a subtle message from my archfey warlock#Gale has dark amethyst because the man likes purple and looks stunning in it#Lae'zel got sinful red on bone white and i dont think that needs explaining#and my Tav Talice has peach and apricot because its a gorgeous color combo and i liked it#Halsin Jaheira and Minsc didnt get anything because they look fine as is#and also tbh they aren't part of my Squad#i love them all dearly but they're like the overworked parents and uncle for the crew#this was a Kids Only shopping trip

had an extremely weird conversation with my dad yesterday that has me totally re-evaluating my place in that part of the family and how my dad and stepmom see me as part of the family
they just did their wills and it was revealed to me that i am going to get 20% of their estate, while my two siblings (from my dad and stepmom's marriage) will get 40% each, and the reasoning was like. "well you come from me and your mother, and they come from me and your stepmom, so we thought it was more fair that way than to just divide it in thirds" which is so like. lmao. i've known my stepmom since i was three years old and i consider her to be my second mom. my family is huge and blended and i don't consider my half-siblings or step-siblings to be anything other than my siblings, full stop. we're very close and i consider myself to have four siblings and four parents. and until literally yesterday i thought everyone was on the same fucking page about that but i guess not!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and not to get into it but i do think the driving force behind that is my stepmom, not my dad. so that's a fascinating thing to learn on literally the first day of their visit with me
#nat.txt#personal bullshit#idek what else to tag this like. it's not that deep it's not about the money or anything like that it was the reasoning my dad gave#like cool EYE was under the impression i was her child also but i guess not! at least not in this case!!!#they also made my younger brother the executor which is fine it's bc he'll be living in the same city as them i assume#and i'm already executor for our uncle's will. but in light of this reasoning i'm like oh is it because he's Your Eldest 100% Bio-Kid?

pair of hounds named Comes-Back and Should Know Better. pair of hounds named Conscious Choice and Unconditional. pair of hounds named Run to You and Six Hundred Kilometers.
#concepts#i was thinking about those ridiculous protestant / puritan names and also guard dog archetypes and—yeah. yeahhh#six hundred kilometers is a true one actually. years ago my grand-aunt had this one dog—Dima. he'd gotten old and then during routine#the vet tech found a cancerous tumour in his bowels. she couldn't bear to watch him die so#in his endless wisdom my eldest uncle decided they should drive the dog very far away from home; make him comfortable; leave him there.#so they did. so they drove out a little over six hundred kilometers#because within a 300~350km RANGE around us they were sure he'd be able to find his way back#since he'd been going around w her everywhere his whole life#well. what do you know? Dima came back.#looking dirty and exhausted but the good boy made his way back#he lived longer than they thought he would too—for about one more year. died quietly with his head in her lap.#i'm very fine about this story obviously : )

I am staring DIRECTLY at Film Reroll Luke Skywalker watching and anticipating his next move
#film reroll#the film reroll#Tim Nolan you played him so well!!!!#I don’t think this will happen but this version of Luke is one I can kinda see turning to the dark side??#like think about it. your aunt and uncle are killed. Ben Kenobi tells you it’ll be alright though and that you have the force in you#you can come with him and train to be a Jedi just like your father was#you leave planet and on the way have to put up with this asshole smuggler and even free a serial killer just to get to the rebels#but it’s fine! because once you’re with the rebels you’ll then be able to train with Ben like he’s promised#except you get there and there are two other Jedi candidates. each seemingly better options than you#one is a child who already has pretty good control of the force without anyone telling her how to wield it.#she’s also young and thus full of so much more potential than you#and the other is a woman older than you. but she has so much more life experience. she’s proven herself worthy both to the rebels#and to the force itself. she is strong and basically everything you’re not#but that’s alright too because Ben knows you. of course he’s going to pick to train you!! but then they say your name Skywalker with horror#and you are told about who your father is and how if you are trained and given everything you want you will become just like him#you are evil and violent by nature even though you feel as if you are anything but… except maybe they’re right#because when confronted with this fact your first instinct was to attack an injured man on death’s door#and if Kenobi has his time taken up by training either kahki or Jyn/planning the destruction of the Death Star#Luke is potentially left in a very vulnerable state to stew#I just am foaming at the mouth thinking about it!!!!#(I do feel like Andy will ultimately take Luke in a more redemption/I am not my father by righteous’ sacrifice’ route though#which also has a lot of potential to be delicious)
