Gotta love the day after Valentine's Day. Jax strikes me as the type of guy to buy up a bunch of seasonal candy when it's cheap and on clearance the day after.
He presents a few to Ragatha as she seemed down in the dumps after a rush adventure with dogsripping up other dolls:
"Ey Dollface, don't you know life is, eh, like a box of Chocolates?"
"Oh, weeeell, ehehe, yeah, Becaaause you don't know what you're gonna ge-"
(Splat)
"NOPE. Life just kinda has a way of testing people, like right now Raggy."
Ragatha Sits completely stunned as the partially melted chocolates slides down and covers her face. She already had kind of a bad day, and just when she thought it couldn't get any worse, Jax throws melted Chocolate in her face for a cheap laugh.
She tears up.
"(Sobs)...Y-yeah...I guess..."
Jax notices Ragatha's more sad response, usually expecting her to be upset after all that had gone on today. But Ragatha was clearly done with today, tearing up as she felt like everything was just falling apart around her, no matter how much she had helped.
Jax feels a pang of guilt, something he hadn't felt in a long time, despite often antagonizing others for fun.
"I... Look, I'm sorry Rags...eeh, I...Didn't know you'd take it so hard uhh-"
Jax pauses, seeing how Ragatha is still covered in chocolate, it's all over her face and her dress. She sat down on a nearby block, and buried her face in her mitt hands.
Jax starts to realize that he's really messed up, feeling anxious and upset, hoping to fix what he had done, a gentler and more considerate side of Jax coming out as he finds a nearby box of wipes, and walks back up to Ragatha.
At first, she winces at Jax as she seemed next to broken at this point, unable to handle another joke or anything mean. She lifts her head and her eyes meet Jax's out of fear and confusion as she guards her face with her hands.
"Stop..." She said weakly, thinking Jax was going to hurt her again.
Jax saw the hurt in Ragatha's eyes, and felt awful.
"Hold still Rags, I'm gonna fix this."
"Fix...-wh-huh?"
Jax places a wet wipe on Ragatha's chocolate covered face, wiping clean the section of her face the wipe is on.
Ragatha, fearful of Jax at first, started to see that this wasn't a prank, motionless to see what would happen next, as Jax was acting so out of character, she thought.
Jax continued to wipe Ragatha's face, hair, and was even able to clean off most of the stains on her dress since they were fresh. Ragatha starred in silence, confused and surprised at what was going on.
"Jaxxy..." Ragatha whispered under her breath, still flabbergasted.
Jax looked at Ragatha as he threw the used wipes away and looked at Ragatha. Ragatha returned her gaze, curious as to what is even going on.
"Jax, I...I have no words. You pulled a real dirty prank on me, yet... you cleaned up the mess, and took care of me."
Jax looks down in silence, feeling stupid, unable to look Ragatha in the eye, until Ragatha holds Jax's cheek, gently leaning his chin in her direction.
"Jax...what's going on?" She said, wistfully gazing into Jax's eyes as she hoped quietly he might be trying to change.
"Look, I've hurt you. I can see that. I've hurt everyone, and I thought it was all a game... That is, until now... I must have hurt you the most, didn't I? I've not been kind to you Raggy."
"You do pull too many harmful pranks. But I still like you just fine. Let's just try to stick together more, okay?"
Jax Smiles; "Okay Dollface, i thinkwe can do that."
"Thank you Jaxxy...I like when you surprise me." says Ragatha as she holds Jax close, Jax blushes a little as Ragatha closes her eyes and snuggles closer to Jax as her arms are wrapped around his waist.
Jax sees and feels Ragatha's strong affections, returning them by giving Ragatha more of his own, Hugging Ragatha close in a intimate and sweet way. He was being more of a snuggly bunny, instead of a real raspy rash of a rabbit he usually was before.
Jax felt the need to shelf his harmful pranks and be more of a team player, so he declares this to Ragatha to further support her in their newly formed trust.
"I'm sorry, Raggy, I'm sorry for everything. I'll make it up to you guys, we'll be a team. I'll help build trust with everyone again, we'll make it out one day, and I won't leave any of you behind."
"Aw, Jaxxy, I forgive you, and I love you. Just don't let go of me Jaxxy, I don't know if I could handle being this low.... Alone... Again."
"I promise Raggy, to be there for you, and for everyone."
Ragatha sinks deeper into Jax's Embrace, further cementing their shared forgiveness.
...
After Ragatha and Jax bond and settle their differences, Jax goes around to Apologize to Everyone with Ragatha's blessing
He starts with Gangle, whom was doing sketches on the stage in the main tent.
Jax decides to not beat around the bush with Gangle, as he tormented her a lot.
"I'm sorry Gangle. Maybe I could help you build a comedy mask that sticks together."
Gangle, surprised as Ragatha was, put her notebook down in shock, waiting for Jax to prank her a second later when she wasn't expecting it.
"W...w-what?" Said Gangle, confused, and sad since her comedy mask broke yet again today.
"Your mask Gangle. It's made of porcelain, so it's always breaking. You need more plastic masks so they don't break anymore. I could help ya with that. It's the least I can do, I've been a real jerk to ya Ribbons, and, and..."
Gangle then looks into Jax's eyes, seeing the determination, anxiety, and care in his voice and darting eyes, her heartwarming gaze leaves Jax trailing off with a stare, hoping he hadn't offended or hurt her already, as Jax knew how sensitive Gangle was.
"Jax wow...I...I... forgive you." Gangle smiles, delighted and relieved seeing Jax is genuine in his apology, desiring to be better. "I also accept your help to fix my masks."
Jax smiles and they hug it out, happy to be friends again, Gangle trusting Jax and being closer to him now more than ever before.
"Kaufmo may be gone, but we're still here. We'll make it, all of us, together. Ragatha's there for us too, no matter what."
Gangle sheds a tear as Jax and Gangle Hug, her ribbon arms tightening as she remembers Kaufmo upon hearing Jax speak of him, as well as Ragatha's endless compassion.
"Of Course Jaxxy. We'll do it for him and for all of us."
...
Later, Kinger and Jax sit on the couch together after Jax asked him if they could talk.
"Kinger, I just want you to know I'm sorry.
"Ha-Okay Jax. I understand. Just be nice, and things will be grand. I knew you'd come around. All is forgiven."
They do a bro hug, and Jax and Kinger go about their day, Kinger is very understanding of Jax, and Jax is relieved and also unsurprised that Kinger would forgive him so fast, but was grateful regardless.
....
After that quickly lived apology, Jax approaches Pomni.
Pomni was in her room and Jax kocked on her door.
Pomni answers it.
"Hi ther-oh. Uh...Hey..."
Pomni's words were cautious and suspicious as she found out who was at her door, she was ready for Jax to take a potshot at her, ready for anything Jax had coming.
"Pomni, I've got something important I want to say."
Pomni looks at Jax, studying his expression as she watched slightly guarded behind the door.
"Okaaaay...what is it?"
Jax sighs.
"I'm sorry, okay?"
Pomni pauses, not expecting Jax to Apologize.
"Sorry? Foooor...what?"
"For... not treating you better when you arrived up until now, and everything else for that matter. I've been a real jerk to you and everyone else, and I'm sorry...I don't expect you to forgive me, I just want you to understand, and know that I will be looking out for everyone here on out."
Pomni opens the door a little, fully unveiling herself to Jax, seeing how frustrated and sad Jax looked, as if he had wanted to apologize for the longest time, but was too prideful and finally cracked.
"I don't understand... Why are you apologizing now? Why are you being like this?"
"Because... I've caused everyone a lot of pain... and i want to do something, even if i can't make up for it."
Pomni silently watches Jax, seeing how remorseful he was.
"I have toyed with you and screwed around too much. You're a part of the crew, Pomni, and just know that we're all gonna look out for you from here on out. All of us, Ragatha, Gangle, Kinger, I've made amends with everyone, everyone except..."
"Thank you Jax. I think Zooble will find it in their heart to forgive you...I know Zooble might have most difficulty doing so, but, I can see you're sorry. Just know I forgive you, okay?"
Jax smiles, relieved to know Pomni accepts his forgiveness and has restored a level of trust with her. "Thank you Pomni. I won't let you down again. And I guess I should go tell her."
"I could come with you if you need me to, Jax."
"I'm the one who played with Zooble's feelings, I should do this one my own. Later Pomni."
"Okay... if you're sure. See ya Jax."
Pomni closes her door as Jax scoots over to Zooble's room, which her door was wide open. Zooble had three boxes full of parts of varying kinds, she was shuffling through each of them, hoping to find a pieces she'd like, seemingly frustrated over how she couldn't find one.
Jax considered checking in later, but Zooble notices him first.
"Oh great... what do you want now?" She said with a bitter tone, ready for Jax's onslaught of pranking she was used to at any moment.
"Zooble, I uh, just want you to know that I....am...sorry."
Zooble scoffs at hearing Jax saying that.
"No, you're not."
Jax felt guilty as he could feel Zooble's frustration as she rejected his apology.
"What's your ■■■■ing problem anyway? You seek to prank me a whole lot. Now you make a mess of my already circus life, and now you're just gonna walk on in here, and just apologize to make it all better!? You must think I'm some kinda idiot."
"...I am sorry. I really am."
"Shut up, you aren't. You don't need to try. You're not worth it."
Jax thinks over how he's going to explain this.
"Zooble wait, I'm-
(THEN ANOTHER VOICE WAS HEARD, no, MULTIPLE, at Zooble's doorway)
"He's Sorry, he really is..." Said Gangle, trying to convince Zooble that Jax was nice for a change for real.
"Really? Clearly this is buildup for another one of his 'jokes.' He's gonna spring it on-"
"Zooble, give him a chance, he really is sorry..." Said Ragatha.
Zooble sees Ragatha feeling much better than she did earlier, feeling as if she's perhaps missed something, but still remains guarded.
"You too? What the f■■■ is going on around here? Have you guys gone mad? Jax is a piece of sh-"
"Ha-Zooble," said Kinger next, "Jax has asked everyone for forgiveness, even me. He has changed. He's turned a new leaf Zoobie."
"Kinger, Jax is always toying with us of course he's waiting to-"
Zooble stops mid-sentence again to see Pomni walking up, from behind the rest of the crew at the doorway, smiling.
"He does mean it Zooble..." Said Pomni, hoping Zooble would understand, knowing how much the jester was hurt by Jax.
Jax, was silent, looking away, unsure of what to say, not trying to sway Zooble's opinion, surprised that everybody decided to stand up for him to show Zooble he was a good guy.
"Uuugggh...(sigh) Fine Jax. You're forgiven. We'll work on it. But yeah..."
Jax lights up a little, smiling in a more happy way, as opposed to his usual sly calculated expression.
"Thank you, Zooble. I'll make it up to you, I will."
The whole crew brings Jax and Zooble into a hug, everyone hugging it out as Ragatha ushers in everyone into a big cuddle puddle.
Caine pops in out of nowhere, seeing everyone get along, and gets in on the big snuggle hug too.
"Aww, I'm so glad you guys are getting along!" Said Caine as they let him in on the hug too, Bubble also joins in the hug, making cute noises.
The End.
I'm lazy but I still wanted to put something out wheeze
Happy V Day !

Fucksgiving 2k24: Growing Family
You and Joel try to patch things up with your father while starting a family of your own. A Thanksgiving oneshot in the Stranger in a Bar universe.
^This is how I pictured this Joel as I was writing, with his lil tie on. Sorry not sorry.
Pairing: DBF!Joel x Female Reader (from Stranger in a Bar)
Length: 3.8k
CW: BREEDING KINK. Unprotected P in V for obvious reasons. Planning for pregnancy. Age gap (Joel is 20 years older, reader is 35 and Joel is 55.) Reader's dad is kind of a dick. No outbreak AU. Can be read as a stand alone fic with the understanding that Joel was reader's dad's bestie and he and reader are living together after dating years prior. No use of Y/N, minors DNI 18+ only.
A/N: Here's something to read while you navigate your own Thanksgiving dinner situations which are, hopefully, less awkward than this one. Happy Thanksgiving!!
“I mean it,” you said, clutching the casserole dish of mashed potatoes tightly to your stomach. “Best. Behavior.”
“When am I ever not on my best behavior?” Joel asked, his hand on the small of your back possessively.
You stopped in the middle of the drive on the mercifully long walk to your parents’ front door to stare at him, incredulous.
“When are you?” You asked, brows raised. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen you behave yourself, not once, especially not where my dad is involved…”
“Alright,” he chuckled good naturedly. “I’ll do my best.”
“You’d better,” you said. “He’s just coming around to this, OK? I’d rather not blow it.”
“I know, baby,” he said, kissing your temple. “I’ll be good. Promise.”
“Thank you,” you said, continuing up to the front door.
“Your dad needs to behave too, though,” Joel said, sticking close to you. “Because I’m not gonna just let him say the same shit he always does, I don’t care.”
“Please try,” you said, ringing the doorbell. “If you do, I’ll make it worth your while.”
“Really?” He asked, his voice husky. “Dyin’ to know what you mean by that.”
“I mean,” you said, keeping your voice low. “Given how much I want to fuck your brains out, I’m pretty sure I’m ovulating and I can think of all kinds of ways you can try to knock me up - hey Mom!”
“Hey, honey!” Your mom opened the door and pulled you in for a hug. You just caught Joel’s expression out of the corner of your eye, his mouth slightly agape as he stared at you. “Oh, it’s so good to see you.”
“It’s good to see you, too,” you gave her a squeeze, carefully angling the casserole dish away from her before stepping back. “We come bearing potatoes.”
“So you do!” She said, taking the dish before turning to your boyfriend and taking a deep breath. “Joel. Always good to see you.”
You looked to Joel and saw him collect himself for half a second before smiling to your mom.
“Good to see you, too,” he said. “Been a while.”
“Yeah,” she smiled a little bigger and reached out to give his arm a squeeze. “It has.”
You gave Joel an encouraging smile as the two of you followed your mother into a kitchen that was overflowing with dishes.
“Can I help?” You asked, laughing a little as you looked around.
“Oh…” she sighed, looking around before she laughed, too. “Yes, yes please. Your father has been utterly useless, just wandering around, muttering to himself. Not that he’s the most helpful in the kitchen but he’s not completely incompetent…”
“He’s good on the grill,” you said. “Kitchen… eh.”
“Well, yes,” she giggled conspiratorially. “But I try to give him credit where it’s due. Usually I’m not on my own for a holiday but this year he’s been… something.”
You just hummed in agreement and started in on the green beans because you were pretty sure you knew the reason why your dad was acting strange and that reason was currently asking your mom how she wanted the cucumber cut for the salad.
Joel and your father had barely spoken in the six months since you’d moved back to Austin and gotten back together with Joel.
Not that you were too surprised about that. He was, after all, one of your dad’s closest friends and was much closer to his age than your own. You hadn’t exactly expected the news of your relationship to go over well but it had been even worse than you’d anticipated.
You’d arranged to talk to your parents in public when you decided to tell them. Neutral ground, as it were. Plus, you were pretty sure your father would be less likely to punch Joel in the face if you were in public.
It ended up not making much of a difference.
“You’re what!” Your father stood up so fast that his chair fell over, the sharp clatter of the wood on the tile restaurant floor and violence of his tone plunging the once bustling room into silence.
“Dad,” you said gently. “It’s not a big deal…”
“The hell it’s not!” He yelled, looking between the two of you. “When the fuck did this start, hm? When the hell did you start fucking my daughter!”
“Why don’t you sit down and…” Joel began, but your dad didn’t let him finish.
“Don’t you dare tell me what to do,” he put his finger inches from Joel’s face. “She is a child!”
“I’m 35!” You gaped at him. “Dad, you’re being ridiculous!”
“You’re already in hot water,” he snapped at you. “So keep your damn mouth shut while…”
“Don’t talk to her that way,” Joel said, standing up with too much force, his voice hot. “You got a problem with me, handle it with me, don’t take it out on her.”
“Don’t you tell me how to treat my own fucking kid!” Your dad yelled. “I’ll handle her however I damn well please!”
You weren’t sure who threw the first punch but it devolved quickly then, your mother pulling your father away while you dragged Joel back, both men bloody and panting for breath.
You kept your distance from your father after that. You talked to your mom regularly - she was smart enough to give up on trying to talk you out of your relationship quickly and, eventually, was even happy for you - but your father took some time.
After a while, he was willing to talk to you. Your mother must have given him strict rules - he didn’t try to talk you out of your relationship or question Joel’s integrity - but it was stiff and awkward.
Thanksgiving had been your mom’s idea. Joel was hesitant but - after you conspired with Sarah (you and Joel’s daughter becoming fast friends once you moved past the awkwardness of your closeness in age) so she would stay in Dallas to go to have dinner with her boyfriend’s family - he’d agreed eventually.
“If this don’t prove how much I love you, woman,” he’d grumbled as he tied his tie that morning.
“You? Love me?” You asked, adjusting the knot under his chin. “News to me…”
“Uh huh,” he smiled a little, just enough to make his cheek dimple.
“Never said it,” you had to fight to hold your smirk back. “Definitely not 20 times while you were inside me last night…”
“That don’t sound like me at all,” he teased back before going to kiss your cheek. “You look beautiful, baby.”
“Well, I do have a hot date.”
“Really? When’s he showing up?”
You glared at him and he laughed before giving you another kiss.
“Let’s go before I lose my damn nerve,” he said. “Gonna be the most awkward Thanksgiving ever.”
For a little while, there in the kitchen with just Joel and your mother, you almost forgot how awkward this was supposed to be.
You and Joel moved around each other in tandem now. You’d been living together for months and you’d fallen into sync so fast it was almost strange when you stopped to think about it. When you’d moved in with your ex, it took what felt like a small eternity to really understand the flow of his life, to subconsciously recognize where he was going in the kitchen when you were cooking side by side, to remember to consider him when making decisions big and small. With Joel, it was almost instantaneous. There had been no odd fumbling around each other as you went through your lives under one roof, no putting one brand of peanut butter back to pick up the one you suddenly remembered he preferred, no confusion or frustration when you came home from the office to find him not back yet. It all clicked, like you’d been built to do this alongside each other all along. Even in the unfamiliar space of your parents’ kitchen, his hand found the small of your back as he moved behind you to get a serving bowl and you just knew which knife to pass him from the block beside you when he went to reach for it.
Things shifted when your sister showed up about an hour and a half before dinner, her arrival finally coaxing your father out from wherever he’d been hiding since you and Joel had gotten there.
“Hey Dad,” you smiled at him after he finished greeting your sister and he stood, hovering awkwardly in the kitchen. “Good to see you.”
“Good to see you, too, princess,” he said pulling you in for a quick hug.
He turned his attention to Joel then, looking him up and down like he would an adversary.
“Joel,” he said, nodding once.
“Hey man,” Joel said, holding his hand out. Your father’s jaw twitched but he shook Joel’s hand all the same. “Good to see you.”
Your father just grunted before going to the fridge and getting out a beer. Joel followed him and you and your mother exchanged worried glances.
“Think the Cowboys are gonna pull out a win this year?” Joel asked.
Your dad held his beer for a moment, looking like he was considering just not responding but then seemed to think better of it.
“We’ll see,” he said. “With their record, I’d settle for not getting our asses handed to us.”
Things were easier after that. Your father and Joel disappeared to the living room and you heard the telltale sounds of football follow immediately after.
“I still can’t believe you’re fucking Dad’s weirdly hot friend!” Your sister said, just quiet enough that your mother was out of earshot. “Or that you were for years, forever ago! Seriously, there are rules about holding back to your sister like that.”
“You don’t need to know everything I do, you know,” you said.
“No but I need to know everyone you do,” she said. You snorted. “So… you think it’s going to last?”
“Well, we’re trying for kids,” you said, putting the last of the shredded cheese on the mac and cheese. “So it’d better.”
“What!” She yelped.
“What?” Your mom ran over. “Everyone OK? Did you burn yourself?”
“We’re good,” you smiled. “Just catching up. Sister shit, you know.”
“Yeah,” your sister said. “Sister shit.”
Your mother went back to the other side of the kitchen and your sister mouthed oh my God at you and you fought the urge to laugh. Your dad might hate your boyfriend but at least you could count on your sister to be your sister.
Eventually, the rest of the family came over, too, and everyone settled around the overly full dining room table, Joel sitting beside you with a reassuring hand on your knee as he made small talk with one of your uncles.
Dinner went surprisingly well, at least until everyone was a few glasses of wine deep and your father decided to pick a fight.
“So, Joel,” he said, setting his wine glass down with a little too much force. “Not sure if I should thank you for getting my daughter to move back home or if I should blame you for her obsession with being a failed musician for a living.”
“Dad!” Your sister gaped at him. “What the fuck!”
“Language, please!” Your mother said.
“Just seems to be real clear to me now,” he said. “Doubt she’d be so stuck on playing that damn guitar all the time if it weren’t for your bad influence.”
“Bad influence?” You laughed. “Dad, I’m almost middle aged, I’m not some impressionable teenager. I love my work, I don’t consider myself to be a failure just because I do music therapy instead of being a rock star, I…”
“You could have actually done something with yourself, you know,” he cut you off. “Instead, you decided to drive your life into the ground with this man and some bullshit career path…”
“Watch it,” Joel said sharply. “Not gonna let you talk to her that way. You will treat her with respect or I will make you treat her with respect.”
“Respect?” Your dad asked, his eyebrows raised. “You’re gonna sit there, in my house, at my table and lecture me about respect when you decided to take up with my daughter?”
“Stop it!” You shoved your chair back, throwing your napkin on your gravy smeared plate. “Both of you! Dad, stop acting like your my keeper and that I don’t have any goddamn agency because you raised me! Joel, stop acting like I need you to defend my honor! Just… fucking stop it!”
“Baby,” Joel said but you ignored him, stalking off to the guest room at the back of your parents’ house, needing some space from everyone.
You let yourself cry for a minute, sitting on the edge of the bed and staring at an old family photo of you with your parents and sister, back when you were just 10 years old. Your hand drifted to your lower stomach. You weren’t pregnant yet - at least, not that you knew - but you couldn’t imagine your child doing anything that would make you as mad at them as your father seemed to be at you loving Joel.
There was a soft knock at the door and you wiped your eyes on the backs of your wrists.
“Yeah?”
“S’me,” Joel said quietly. “Can I come in?”
“Yeah,” you sniffed.
He came in, closing the door gently behind him before sitting next to you.
“You OK?” He asked after a moment.
“I will be,” you sniffed again.
“I’m sorry baby,” he said, reaching out and cupping your face, his thumb tracing the arch of your cheekbone. “Know I promised to be on my best behavior but… Look, him being a dick to me is fine, I can handle that. I just can’t watch him say that shit to you. But that don’t mean I should get… aggressive and…”
“It’s not your fault,” you said. “I’d do the same thing if I were you, I can’t really blame you for it. And I appreciate that you care about me…”
“I love you,” he smiled a little. “More than just about anything else. But that means I need to take care of you in the way you want me to, not just the way I want to do it.”
You smiled tightly before leaning in to kiss him. Joel kissed you back, gentle at first but, before long, something shifted, the kiss becoming hot and needy.
“Baby,” Joel said, his voice low. “Should… should probably get back out there…”
“They can wait,” you said, panting a little. “I want you.”
He groaned, nipping at your lower lip but still hesitating.
“Please, Joel,” you breathed, pressing yourself closer to him. “I need you. Let’s make a baby.”
“Fuck,” he said, his tone shifting, and then he was on you. His tongue plunged into your mouth as he lay you back on the bed.
He didn’t bother taking your panties off, just tucking them to the side and tugging the low v-neck of your sweater down to expose your cleavage.
“Christ, you’re so fuckin’ pretty,” he groaned, cupping your sex with one hand and tugging your breasts free of your bra with the other. He mouthed at your nipple, licking and sucking over your breasts as he ground his palm against your clit, one thick finger slipping inside your seam to your already dripping entrance. “Don’t deserve you, baby.”
“Yes you do,” you whispered. “You deserve the world.”
He just moaned in response, kissing you again, one large hand cupping your breast, his thumb brushing your nipple.
It wasn’t long before he shoved his pants and underwear down just enough to free his cock and he jerked himself a few times with the hand that had become coated in your wetness. He notched himself at your entrance, his head thick and large and swollen, and pressed inside, a moment of resistance before your channel stretched over him and he buried himself within you.
He pulled his lips from yours, his head falling to the bed over your shoulder as he panted for breath.
“Goddamn you feel good,” he said, voice tight and hot in your ear. You rolled your hips up against him, making him moan.
“Good,” you said. “Love making you feel good, sometimes that’s all I want to do.”
“Fuck, you think your daddy hates me now,” he said. “If he knew what you do to me he’d shoot me.”
He started to fuck into you then, keeping his chest pressed tight to yours while his cock worked you hard and fast inside, his head finding that soft and tender place within you that built your orgasm fast with every stroke. He ground his cock against you there, his hips on your clit, making every ounce of need inside yourself gather tight and low.
“Fuck, Joel,” you panted. “I’m gonna come, you’re gonna make me come, I…”
“Good,” he growled. “Come for me, come while I get you pregnant, c’mon baby and come all over me.”
You had to bury your face in his shoulder to keep quiet, your orgasm hitting you hard and fast, your center fluttering over his thick length as he held himself inside you.
“Oh you like hearin’ that, huh?” He asked, breathless, starting to move again, already building your next orgasm as he did. “Like hearing how I’m gonna put a baby in my baby, that it?”
“Yes,” you groaned, your second climax growing quickly. “Yes, please, please, please, please…”
“You don’t gotta beg for it baby,” he said, pulling back from you enough to look you in the eyes as he spoke. “I’ll give you everything, as many babies as you want, fuck, gonna give you my baby right now, gonna make you pregnant, fuck!”
He buried his face in your neck and pressed himself so deep inside you as he came, the heat of him spilling into you in thick, heavy pulses.
“Fuck,” he said after he finished, kissing your neck before pulling back from you to kiss your lips, too. “Didn’t mean to come that quick, wanted to get you off one more time first.”
“It’s OK,” you said, panting, even though it was kind of a lie. You’d been so close to coming again that you felt tight inside your skin, an energy rippling over you that you knew you wouldn’t be able to shake until you came again once you got home.
“No, it’s not,” he said, sitting up and slowly, carefully pulling his softening cock from you. “Got you all worked up, not taking care of you the way you deserve if I don’t finish the job.”
You felt some of his come slip out of you but he caught it with the tip of his cock, pressing it back inside before tucking himself away in his underwear and cupping your swollen, aching sex.
“I’ll take care of you,” he said quietly. “Take care of you the rest of my life.”
He worked your clit, slow and gentle circles at first before his touch grew firmer, drawing your orgasm back to the surface in the way that only Joel seemed to know how to do. You came to his touch, feeling his thick come inside you as you did, like your body was trying to pull him even deeper inside.
“There you go,” he said, his eyes locked on your dripping pussy. “Fuck, so pretty, every damn inch of you.”
You panted for breath, relaxing down into the bed before suddenly remembering that your entire family was down the hall.
“Fuck,” you sighed. “We should get back.”
“We should,” Joel said, tugging your panties back in place and helping you cover your chest again before chuckling. “Think your daddy really might shoot me if he found us like this.”
You laughed and sat up, looking at Joel for a moment. You trailed your fingers through his hair and he smiled a little, his eyes crinkling at the edges.
“Really not sure why you think I’m worth all this trouble,” he said. “But I sure am thankful I have you.”
You smiled back.
“I’m thankful for you, too.”
You kissed him and he helped make sure your hair and makeup didn’t look like you just got fucked within an inch of your life before you emerged, the party having moved to the living room, your mom and aunts on one side of the room, your dad and uncles on the other, an uncomfortable silence falling when the two of you walked in.
“Joel,” your dad said, getting up and walking over with a sigh. “Look… not sure I’ll ever really be OK with this but… my daughter could do worse than a man seems to adore her and is willing to stand up for her.”
“I do adore her,” Joel said. “I love her. I want to do everything I can for here as long as she’ll let me.”
Your dad nodded slowly.
“Think I can live with that,” he said. “But you hurt her? I will kill you.”
Joel laughed a little.
“I expect nothing less.”
Joel and your dad seemed a little more like the friends they’d started out as after that, laughing and talking and watching football. When the two of you left for home, your father and mother walked you out, containers of leftovers in hand.
“It was so good to see you both,” your mom smiled, giving you a squeeze. “We’ll have to do this again. Soon.”
“We will,” you kissed her cheek before turning to your dad. “It’ll be nice.”
“It will,” he said before looking to Joel and holding out his hand. “Welcome to the family.”
Joel smiled a little, taking his hand and shaking it.
“Thanks for letting me in it.”
You smiled the whole drive home, Joel’s hand on your knee.
“So,” he said, looking at you conspiratorially as he pulled into the drive way. “Think the family will be even bigger next Thanksgiving?”
“I sure hope so,” you smiled. “But I think we’ll have fun trying either way.”
“Think we should try again now?” He asked, taking your hand and kissing your knuckles. “Because, you know… if you’re ovulating, should probably do it again. Seems like the smart move.”
You laughed, already adding pregnancy tests to your mental shopping list.
“Well we can’t start out our lives as parents doing the dumb thing,” you said and he laughed before the two of you went inside to try again to grow your family.

♡ I watched it begin again - LN 4 ♡
Summary: You've moved on and found happiness... when Lando reappears and tells you something you truly never expected to hear, but something you had also wished for for so long.
Author's Note: this is the much awaited part 2 to 'i wish you would've stay'. i wanna say a quick thank you to those who read part 1 and shared your thoughts on it, it really made me feel so special 😭 this part would not have been written without yall <3
WC: 2415
CW: fluff, maybe a very little amount of angst? pettiness, if you squint there's a sort of thrupple, or whatever the 4 count of that word is, hinting, overuse of song references
“Okay, I think it’s done.”
“Yay! I can finally see this masterpiece you’ve created.” you smiled.
“Eh, masterpiece is a bit of a reach. But I definitely tried my hardest to capture your beautiful soul.”
“Ohhh, shush you. Flattering me so much.”
“It’s so you don’t hate me after you see this monstrosity.”
“Okay, enough yapping. Show me.”
You watched as he took a deep breath and turned the sketchbook towards you.
“Oh. My. God.” you try to stifle your laugh.
“Why are you laughing?” Gabe chuckled.
“I’m not laughing. It’s beautiful. Oh my- Where were you when it was time for senior photos?”
“No. Fuck off. That’s rude.” you watched as Gabe tossed a pillow at you and tried to refrain from laughing as hard as you are.
You were laughing so hard it was getting hard to breathe and tears were rolling down your face. Being with Gabe always felt so high school in a way. There was no pressure or drama within this place. It was just love.
You and Gabe have been dating for a little over a year and it’s been the greatest time of your life. When the two of you met, you really weren’t looking for anything. You were focused on work and getting your life in line when he happened.
Since he’s come into your life, it’s like everythings brighter. And while that may sound cliche, it’s true. He makes everything feel miniscule, like as long as he’s there at the end of the day, everything will be okay.
He was something new as well. For so long, you had spent your time around boys and their expensive cars like range rovers and Aston Martins, but Gabe is just Gabe. He’s a real person who enjoys the same things that you do and he truly loves you for you. And he loves spending time with you. On your first date, he wasn’t ready for the date to be over, so he asked you to walk around Kohl’s with him. And still, to this day, he asks if you want to walk around Kohl’s together, just for a few more moments with you.
He was the king of your heart.
“Oh shit, I gotta get going. I have that meeting with Matt tomorrow about working on that album.” Gabe said as he stood up from the couch and stretched, “Can we meet for lunch? I don’t think I can wait all day to see you again.” pulling you closer to him, softly gripping your waist.
“Definitely, I might be a bit late cause I need to talk to Marjorie about letting me in on that case.”
“Amazing.” he said as he pressed his lips to yours, feeling your soft lips on his and pouring himself into you.
The two of you pull apart and you walk him to the door of your apartment.
“See you tomorrow, my love.”
“Call me when you get home, please.”
“Oh, I don’t know.” Gabe jokes, “At home, I’ve got to greet the most demanding and most precious person in my life. She deserves all my attention.”
“Olive is a cat and she is far from precious.”
“You’re just jealous she prefers lying on me rather than you.”
“We’re girls! There’s a girl code and she’s not sticking to it.”
“I’ll see if I can talk some sense into her then. For the love of my life.” Gabe says, pecking your lips one final time before walking off.
“Save some time for me.” you called out.
“All my time is yours, my darling.”
He turns the corner and once he’s out of sight, you step back into your apartment and close the door. You turn your back to press against the door and you couldn’t help the giddy smile that spread across your face. Even after all this time, he still makes your heart skip.
You started to get ready for bed and had just settled into your bedsheets when your phone started playing your ringtone for Gabe, ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’ by Rick Astley. You don’t remember exactly how it became one of your songs, but it somehow made its way there. You’d even joked with him how if the two of you ever broke up, you hoped that Rick Rolling would become a thing again so that he would be tormented with the thought of you.
You picked up the phone to hear some shuffling on the other line. “Hello?” you call out.
“Hey, sorry. I was just taking off my jacket. I made it home.”
“Amazing. How’s home?”
“It’s okay. Would be better if you were here with me.”
“You just spent all day with me. Are you not sick of me?” you half-joked.
“I could never be sick of you. You’re my favorite thing the universe gifted us on earth.”
“Stop. You’re gonna make me cry.”
“I’m sorry, my love. I don’t like making you cry, unless it’s from laughter. Ya know, you’re really pretty when you laugh.”
“Only when I laugh?” you poke.
“Nuh uh. You’re always pretty. So pretty that it almost kills me. But I really like it when you laugh. Especially when I’m the one making you laugh.”
“I like it when you make me laugh too.” you are practically melting at this man's words. He always has you wrapped around his finger and you think he knows. But little do you know, that’s how he feels about you.
You turn to look at the clock by your bedside and sigh. Even after having him all day, somehow you just want him more.
“I gotta go to sleep now, my angel. If I sleep now, I can get at least 7 hours of sleep.” you huff.
“You should really sleep earlier so you can actually sleep well. We both know you’re not sleeping 7 hours with your sleeping habits.”
“Yeahhhh. Whatever. I’ll see you tomorrow, darling.”
“I’ll be waiting, love.”
The silence sounds after the beep. Was this what true love felt like? Is this how it feels to be loved? How long has it been since someone made you feel like this? For a while, you thought the plane was going down. But someway, somehow, Gabe turned it right around. He would literally break his back to make you break a smile. For the first time ever, you were falling in love with someone who was falling in love with you.
The next morning, after some strenuous phone calls and exhausting meetings, you excitedly made your way to the restaurant you were meeting Gabe at. You were running a bit early so you decided to take the scenic route to the restaurant, knowing Gabe wouldn’t be there for another 20 minutes.
You were enjoying the afternoon sun and the fresh air that came with it when you heard something from behind, “Y/n?”
Why does this person sound familiar? He sounds like… like someone but you can’t quite place your finger on it.
“Y/n, is that you?”
When you turn to see who it is, you’re met with them. Those eyes, the eyes you used to dream of. But now they look different, they look so dull and tired. His frame looks lighter and his smile looks torn.
“Lando?”
“Wow, you look, I mean you look beautiful. You haven’t changed a bit since the last time I saw you.” he says, giving you a soft, shy smile.
“Yeah. It’s been quite some time.” “Sorry. Uh, how have you been?”
“I’ve been good. Really good, actually. How about you? How’s Hannah?”
“I’ve been okay and ehm, Hannah and I broke up last year.”
“Oh no. I’m sorry to hear. But I’m sure you’ll find someone. There’s plenty of fish in the sea, as they say.”
“Yeah. I’ve actually been thinking about you recently. Like, a lot.” he softly huffs.
“Oh.”
“I’ve been meaning to reach out but I wasn’t sure how. I’m actually glad I ran into you now.”
“Lando, I think you-”
“No, please. Let me explain myself, please.”
You stood there for a beat, not knowing that to say. You couldn’t get a single word out. Why? It was just Lando.
He watches your face, trying to study it and read what you’re thinking, but he can’t, “I have a lot to get off my chest. I won’t take long. Please.”
“Okay.”
With a deep inhale, Lando begins “I fucked up. Big time. I never should have, essentially, ghosted you. All you ever did was love me and care for me. But I just went off and dated another girl cause I didn’t realize it at the time. Y/n, if we’re being honest, I’m still in love with you. And it took a long time for me to realize. Everything is nothing without you. I’m nothing without you. I miss you so much and I regret ever letting you go. Can we start fresh, please? I won’t let you go this time. I’ll hold you closer than I ever did before.”
“I can’t. You hurt me a lot. It took me so long to realize I was going to be okay without you. It took me a long time to realize that it wasn’t my fault for you leaving. That I am good enough and capable of being loved. I’m happy now. I found someone that I love and who loves me. Like, truly loves me. He made me realize that nothing was wrong with me.”
“Oh. I didn’t know you were seeing someone. But, does he really make you happy? Happier than I ever made you?” there are tears brimming his eyes.
“Yeah, he does. I don’t get it, Lando. I was happy for you when you met Hannah, why can’t you be happy for me?”
“Because I know you still feel something for me. And I truly believe that the universe brought us here today for a reason. Our story isn’t over, y/n.”
“It is over. You can say we’ll be together someday, but things have changed. We’re not the same people we were before and I found my person.”
“So why can’t I stop feeling this way?” he says, a tear slipping down his face. “Because you’re human.” you say, reaching your hand to cup the side of his face, but you don’t. You stop yourself before your fingertips can feel his skin beneath yours because it isn’t fair to him.
“Do you regret me?” he asks through a wavering voice.
“No, I don’t regret you. You were one of the most beautiful chapters of my life and you taught me a lot. You know, I used to look for you in a sea of people, knowing you weren’t there. It’s kinda stupid cause we never really existed but-” “We did exist. Just not in the way we should’ve. The way we could’ve if I wasn’t a massive fuck up.”
“You’re not a fuck up. Listen, there was happiness because of you and there was happiness after you. That’s just the way life goes. So there will be happiness after this.’’
“I don’t want there to be an after you. I’m trying my best. I pray that you’ll come back to me one day. And if you do, I’ll give up my hopes and dreams in F1 cause I’ll have my biggest dream of all. You.”
“You can’t change things by loving someone harder. I used to wish you would’ve stayed. But this isn’t a fairytale where you’re my knight in shining armor. I found someone who actually treats me well. And the cost of trying isn’t greater than the reward of having me, to him. He actually loves me and wants to be with me. I used to be so naive and I would get so lost in your eyes, I didn’t realize that being in love wasn’t fighting to have the upper hand.”
He’s near sobbing when he tells you, “I want to believe I haven’t lost you.”
“I’ll always be here for you. But I can’t be with you. It’s too late, Lando. My heart doesn’t soften to your name anymore.”
“Do you think there’s even a slight possibility that you could fall in love with me again?”
You look at him. This was the boy you once loved. The one you would’ve done anything for, even after everything he’d done. You used to wait for him to love you again. But now all you see is the boy who broke your heart and left you bereft and reeling.
“No. I hope you find love, Lando. I really do. But it won’t be me. Not anymore.”
With that, you turn your back to him and walk away. It might’ve been harsh, but you couldn’t stand there any longer. The result wouldn't be different if you’d stayed longer and comforted him. You’re happy with Gabe and he has never given you a reason to doubt him. You’d been hurt enough by Lando. But every little moment led you right to where you should be.
When you finally arrived at the restaurant, Gabe was already there. When he sees you, it’s like he saw you for the first time. There was a sparkle in his eyes and the toothiest grin spread across his face.
He stands to greet you with a kiss that could heal every wound that might have reopened today. He pulls a chair out for you and takes his seat right at your side.
“Hi, baby.”
“Hi. I’m sorry I’m late. It’s a long story and I can tell you all about it later. Right now I just want it to be us. Let the world fade away for a bit.”
“Sounds like a plan then. I already ordered your Coke with a lime. It should be on its way.” Gabe says as he plants a thousand soft kisses on your hand. He’s been doing it a lot lately, now that you think about it.
“You’ve been kissing my hand a lot recently. Why?” you ask out of curiosity.
“Because whenever I kiss your hand, you hold my face.”
Gabe is a daydream and you’re the one he’s walking to. You think he’s the one thing you got right.
You hear your phone ping on the table. You quickly open it to mute it for your lunch date but the text on the screen catches your eye.
Oscah: So should Lily and I meet you guys at your place or ours? 😉

little lioness | buddy & monkey: double the trouble
summary: buddy get's to be leah's mascot for the game against the usa.
double the trouble masterlist
also, heads up in advance before you read this... it's 11k long, so it's a long one, i got a bit carried away writing it
"We're here! We're here! We gon' see Mummy and Monks'!" Your excitement is infectious as you impatiently stand outside Wembley stadium with Amanda, Berny and Jacob.
You're dressed head-to-toe in your own mini England kit that has Williamson proudly printed on the back of it, along with a new pair of trainers that Jordan brought you during the week that has the cool trick of them lighting up as you walk.
"Someones' excited, aren't you?" Jacob teases.
"We gon' go in now?" You let out an impatient huff, not liking the idea of having to wait any longer than you already are having to do so.
"Soon, sweetheart. We just need to wait for everyone else to arrive," Amanda explains to you as she crouches down to your level, "Let's put your coat on now, shall we? It's getting cold isn't it."
You're definitely not a fan of being forced to wear your coat, not one bit.
Amanda's suggestion is more of a non-negotiable one unfortunately as she bundles you up in it, "You need to stay warm, sweetheart." She insists.
"Don' like it," Your overall enthusiasm is dampened by the fact you're being forced to wear it, "Wan' it off!" You pout dramatically, and attempt to tug at the sleeves of it.
"It needs to stay on," Amanda tells you in a tone of voice that is both gentle but firm as well, "You'll be able to take it off when you walk out onto the pitch."
"Wan' it off now," Your little face scrunches up in displeasure, as you continue to fight against the idea of wearing it, "Please, Nana. Off now."
"Darling, you have to keep your coat on," Berny tries to reason with you, "You don't want to get poorly before Santa visits, do you?"
"No," You murmur, you don't like the idea of being poorly when Santa does pay a visit but you really don't like wearing your coat either, "I don' like it, Gan'ma!"
However, it's clear that your protests are doing little to convince anyone.
"I'm sure you'll cope, munchkin," Jacob says, a smirk plastered on his face as he proceeds to playfully pull the hood over your head, "Can you still see?"
"Uncle J! Can' see now!" You whine while scowling at the older lad, who is still laughing about it, "Nana! Tell Uncle J off, he's bein' a meanie!"
"Oh is he? What's he like, eh?" Amanda chuckles, shaking her head as she gives Jacob a certain look, "Don't wind her up."
"Thank 'ou," You nod, satisfied with that before you decide to stick your tongue out at him, "Ou' gotta listen to Nana, Uncle J!"
Jacob holds both his hands up in mock surrender, "Alright, alright. I guess I have no choice now, do I?" He jokes.
"No! Ou' gotta listen and be nice!" You insist while you give him a glare that is scarily identical to Leah's, but it's never reserved for you, only Monkey when she's causing trouble as it's been said in the past.
Your favourite person gets into a lot of trouble, though, so she's always getting the glare.
"Oh, here they are!" Berny exclaims, gesturing to the group of people that are nearing you, your aunts, uncles and cousins all donned out in their own England shirts and scarves.
"Sorry, the traffic on the road was manic," One of your aunties explains, while they all exchange hugs with one another.
"Holly! Holly!" You squeal, excitedly racing towards the older girl and instantly latching your small arms around her legs, "We gon' see Mummy and Monkey!"
"Hi, Buddy!" Holly smiles, hoisting you up into her arms and adjusting you so you're sitting comfortably on her hip, "I know. Are you excited?"
"Yes!" You nod in triumph, not lasting long in her arms before you're wriggling and trying to get back down, only to run to your older cousin, Ben, who is chatting away to Jacob, "Ben!"
"Hiya, cheeky chops," The lad grins and ruffles your hair, "Wow, don't you look cool in your England kit, eh? Ready to walk out on the pitch?"
"Uh huh. I'm 'cited for it!" You tell them, practically vibrating with excitement as you bounce between all of the older adults all in the middle of their own conversations, "We go now?"
"Come on little miss impatient," Amanda chuckles, extending her hand out for you to take before you begin the climb up the steps to get to the stadium.
"I not impatient, Nana!" You insist, clutching a tight hold of her hand, though you're about half way there when you get fed up of walking, "I don' want to walk no more."
"Oh I guess one of us will just have to carry you, huh?" Jacob jokes, leaning down and scooping you up into his arms, "Uncle J to the rescue!"
"Thank 'ou, Uncle J!" You murmur, wrapping your arms around his neck while resting your head on his shoulder.
"You're welcome, munchkin," Jacob retorts, carrying you up the rest of the steps.
You continue to snuggle against him, relieved to be off the ground as you suddenly spot a large blown up picture of Leah hanging directly above your head, "Look, look, there's my Mummy!" You stretch your little fingers to gesture towards it.
"Oh yeah, so it is!" Berny smiles at your general excitement, "It won't be long until you can see her for real now, darling."
"Yeah!" The mention of that instantly lifts your mood, considering you haven't seen Leah nor Monkey since the start of the week - You had spent the majority of the week with Jordan, and now you'll finally be able to see them again, "And Monks' as well!"
"And Monks, of course," Amanda nods, listening to your animated chatter, "I bet your big sister will be so happy to see you again, won't she?"
"Uh huh! I 'cited to see her!" You exclaim, happy about the chance to see your favourite person soon enough.
You make it all the way to the top of the steps with Jacob holding you in his arms, and your eyes are wide as you take in the large crowd of fans all dressed in England shirts, hats and scarves.
Although, there's some that are wearing a badge that you don't recognise, and you're confused who they are.
"Bit busy, ain't it?" Ben questions aloud.
"Only a bit," Jacob chuckles, while keeping a tight hold of you so you don't fall, "Isn't this game meant to be sold out?"
"I think so," Holly chimes in after a few seconds, "It'll be better when we're inside and able to sit down." She adds.
You pass through a brief check in with security before you all head to the friends and family section of Wembley.
“Think I'll head to the bar to grab a drink,” Ben brings up the idea, spotting the bar.
"Me wan' a drink as well!" You pipe up in the conversation, lifting your head from Jacob's shoulder.
"Oh you, do you?" Ben grins at you, "Well I can do you a fruit shoot, or orange juice, or apple juice. What do you fancy?" He asks.
You ponder the question for a few seconds, resting your little finger on your chin and tap it, "Fruit shoot, please!"
"You got it, cheeky chops!" The older lad nods in agreement, "One fruit shoot, coming right up!"
"Nana! Nana!" You shout aloud, trying to get her attention while she has a conversation with a member of the family, "Bens' getting me a fruit shoot!" You tell her like it's the best news you've received all day.
Amanda turns and gasps in mock excitement, "Is he? Wow! Aren't you a lucky girl!" She retorts, "Remember to tell him thank you."
"Thank 'ou Ben!" You tell the older lad, who just chuckles and ruffles your hair much to your displeasure, "Hey! Don' touch my hair. It get ruined!"
Ben held his hands up in mock-surrender, "Sorry, cheeky chops."
"So 'ou should be!" You scowl at him and attempt to be intimidating, "Don' touch it again, or you'll be in trouble!"
"Alright, I won't touch it again," Ben agrees, trying to stifle his laughter, "I'll go and get you that drink now, shall I?" He doesn't wait for your reply, before starting to dip off in the direction of the bar.
"I'll come with you, just give me a second," Jacob tells Ben, gently plonking you back down on the floor, "Down you go, munchkin." You're not happy about being put down, but at least you can run around without getting lost now.
And then you remember you're still wearing your coat, which you're not happy about.
"Nana," You whine and tug on Amanda's hand to get her attention, pulling her from her conversation with another lady, who you vaguely recognise as Keira's mum, Tracy, "Nana, coat off now, please."
"Hello there, Buddy!" Tracy greets you in a friendly tone of voice, "Are you excited to be here, and watch the match?"
"Uh huh! I walk out on the pitch with Mummy!" You tell her, nodding your head a little bit, wriggling to try and get free from the horrible coat, "Off, Nana!" You insist.
Amanda chuckles, crouching down to undo the zip on your coat, "Is that better now, huh?" She asks, taking your coat and holding it in her arms, "Let Nana know when you get cold again, please, okay?"
"I no cold, it' okay!" You insist, twirling around in a circle a few times, "When can I gets' to see Mummy?"
"Sooner than you think, bubba," You instantly recognise the familiar voice straight away and spin around, your eyes are wide and you don't waste a single second to dart straight for you.
"Here she is," Amanda chuckles, watching you as you get even more excited, "See? I told you that you would see her soon, didn't I?"
"Mummy!" You're vibrating with excitement as Leah leans down and scoops you up into her arms, "'Ou're 'ere! I missed 'ou so much!"
"Oh, I've missed you as well, bubba," Leah squeezes you tightly as she holds you in her arms, reluctant to let go of you considering it's been a whole week since she's seen you, "Have you had a good time staying at Mama's house?"
"Uh huh! Lots' of fun!" You insist as you nod your head in agreement, before you gasp when you look at her, "Mummy! I look just like 'ou! See?" You’re almost identical, both in England kits as you point to the crest on your own kit.
Leah gasps playfully in realisation, "Wow, so you do! You're my very own little mascot! You just need my captain’s armband, and then you’ll look exactly like me, won't you?" She bounces you in her arms, which makes you burst into a fit of giggles. "Are you excited to walk out onto the pitch with me?"
You nod in agreement, "I 'cited for it, Mummy!" Even though you might only be three years old, you’ve had the fortunate luck of being able to be a mascot on several different occasions - for Leah, Jordan and even your favourite person, Monkey.
Today was special though, at least so you had been told that - England were playing at home at Wembley Stadium.
"Good, I'm glad," Leah smiles and moves a stray strand of hair out of your face, "It's going to be very loud out there with lots of flashing lights and things, but Mummy can hold you in her arms if you want?"
"That' okay, I want to walk!" You insist, your fingers fumbling with the necklace that she has around her neck that has your birthstone in it, "We see Monks' as well?"
"Of course, she's been driving me insane about when she's going to see you," Leah dramatically exaggerates, "And I have a surprise for you as well, bubba." She states, looking over you to smile at Amanda, like they're having a private conversation between the two of them.
Little did you know that Leah had arranged to have you spend the rest of camp with her and Monkey, so instead of going home after the match with Amanda, Jacob and Berny like you thought, instead you would be travelling back to St. George’s park with Leah, Monkey and the rest of the Lionesses.
You were of course unaware of the fact that Leah had been struggling without you around, and with the date looming of what would have been the birth date of the baby her and Jordan were expecting before you came along, times were increasingly hard and emotional right now, and with special permission from Sarina, you would be allowed to join them.
You gasp in excitement, your eyes wide, "A 'prise? What is it?" You question, keen to know.
"It wouldn't be a surprise if I were to tell you already, would it?" Leah jokes, tickling your sides' where she knows you're the most ticklish, "You'll have to wait and see until after the game, okay?"
"Okay," You pout, not liking the idea of having to wait all that long.
"It's only a bit longer," Leah playfully pokes your nose to get a smile out of you, "You can wait to find out then, can't you?"
"I 'spose so," You reluctantly agree with her, though you still wish that you can know sooner, "Look, Nana. Mummy's here!" You tell the older woman, excitedly, as if she doesn't already know she's here, with you all.
"I know, sweetheart," Amanda smiles, handing your coat over to Leah to take, "Hi bubba." She greets Leah, exchanging a hug with you still settled in her arms, because you refuse to be away from her right now.
"Hey, look who it is!" Ben speaks aloud, walking back through with drinks in his hand, "Here's your fruit shoot I promised, cheeky chops."
"Fruit shoot!" You squeal in excitement, happily taking the bottle from the older lad and proceed to attempt to open it with your teeth, "Mummy, ‘elp please!" You demand, pouting that you can't get it open.
"Wow, you got a fruit shoot? Aren't you lucky," Leah gasps playfully, helping you take off the lid when she sees you're struggling with it, "Here, bubba. Did you say thank you?" She asks.
"Thank 'ou Ben!" You exclaim gleefully, happy enough to have a purple fruit shoot now as you take a big gulp of it, "Uncle J! Look, Mummy's here, see?"
Jacob chuckles, "I can see, munchkin," He pauses, exchanging a brief hug with Leah, "Hey, sis. Did Mum tell you that she woke me up at 5 this morning? Why do kids' wake up that early? It's bizarre, I like to sleep and well, your child definitely did not want to do that."
"Be grateful that you only have to deal with it once in a while," Leah retorts, patting Jacob on the shoulder, "You learn that once you have a child then sleep goes out of the window, entirely."
"Yeah, Le, I love my niece and all, but well, I really also love sleep," Jacob insists while leaning over to ruffle your hair playfully, "No offence, munchkin."
"Stop, Uncle J!" You grumble, batting his hands away while scowling at him before you rest your head on Leah's shoulder.
"You're so easy to wind up sometimes," Jacob teases, finding the whole situation amusing to himself.
"J, please stop winding her up," Leah tells her brother in a serious tone of voice, "Honestly, you're as bad as Monkey sometimes, I swear."
"Hey! Where is Monks'?" Jacob questions eagerly, looking around for your favourite person, "You didn't bring her up here, with you? Well, that's just no fun now, is it?"
Leah snorts in response, "Yeah, I had the right idea to not do that because you pair are a nightmare together. She's with the rest of the girls," She pauses, "Right, bubba, shall me, you and Holly head down and join them?"
You lift your head from Leah's shoulder and nod, "Yes! We go and find Monks' now?"
"Yeah, we're going to see her now," Leah ressaures you with a soft chuckle, adjusting you on her hip as she nods goodbye to the rest of the family, "You lot enjoy yourselves. I'll see you after the game!"
"Good luck, bubba!" Amanda calls after Leah with a proud smile, waving at you both, "We'll be cheering you on from up here!"
"I be back in a bit!" You wave at them all, excitedly.
“Have fun, munchkin!” Jacob exclaims, taking a sip of his drink.
Leah flashes Amanda a grin before turning her attention back to you, "Alright, lets' go find your big sister. She's been pestering me all day about when she gets to see you."
"Monks' missed me?" Your eyes light up with excitement at the thought.
"Of course she did! She's been telling everyone that you're the best mascot ever," Leah replies, her tone playful but affectionate, "Although, she did say she's the best big sister in the world too, along with other things' but she is very excited to see you, bubba!"
“Le! Thank God you’re back– There’s my favourite niece!” Keira exclaims, rounding the corner as she spots you all, with you in Leah’s arms and gets distracted from what she was going to say, “Hi Buddy!”
“Auntie Kei!” You lean towards her, reaching out for a cuddle with her after not seeing her in many months since she lives over in Spain now.
Keira eagerly takes you out of Leah’s arms, “I missed you. I have something for you!”
“I wan’ it! What is it?” Your curiosity is piqued now and you want to know.
“You’ll have to wait and see, won’t you?” Keira teases as she playfully pokes your nose.
“What’s going on, Kei?” Leah arches her eyebrow in confusion.
“Oh, yeah!” Keira suddenly remembers what she meant to tell Leah, “Take a look yourself…” She murmurs with a nod of her head inside the dressing room, her attention completely on you now.
Leah continues to look bewildered as she pushes the door of the dressing room open to find Monkey and Grace in the middle of a heated debate, “What’s going on?”
“Le!” Your favourite person turns her attention to Leah, “Le, you have to back me up here– Buddy! You’re finally here!” Her attention goes straight to you, rushing over and taking you from Keira without any hesitation.
“Monks’!” You squeal, excited to finally be able to see her after almost a week.
“Menace, why aren’t you ready?” Leah already looks ready to pop a vein as she pinches the bridge of her nose, “We need to go and warm up!”
“Yeah, but Le, ‘ere, you need to listen to this first!” Monkey insists as you wrap your arms around her neck and rest your head on her shoulder, “Clinton cards ‘ere reckons that she can beat me in an arm wrestle, but that ain’t right, is it?” She rambles.
“What?” Leah questions in disbelief.
“I reckon I could do,” Grace states confidently as she gasps in a playful manner as she realises you’re here, “Hi Buddy! How’re you?” She questions, patting you on the head.
“Mate, she’s not a dog,” Monkey quips.
You like Grace and you find her somewhat funny, though you’re glad that she doesn’t play for yucky Spurs anymore.
“Yeah, I not a dog!” You parrot, sticking your tongue out at the older girl from the comfort of your big sister's arms.
Monkey chuckles, “You tell her, Buddy!”
“I would love to see an arm wrestle between you and Grace,” Georgia chimes in, coming over after she’s finished tying her laces, “Hi, tiny!”
“Auntie G!” You realise who it is and lean towards her for a cuddle with the girl, “Monks’ down now! I wan’ Auntie G!”
“What? Traitor,” Monkey huffs, begrudgingly placing you down on the floor so you can toddle over to Georgia, who scoops you up into her arms, “So, Le, whatcha reckon, I could definitely beat her, right?”
Leah pinches the bridge of her nose and exhales a sigh, “Monkey, get ready!” She tells her in a firm tone of voice, “Honestly, I left you alone for what, ten minutes? Stop messing about, now.”
“Oooh. You’re in trouble now,” Grace takes the opportunity to wind Monkey up, smirking in amusement, “Better listen to your Mum now, eh?”
“Shut up,” Monkey grumbles while slouching her shoulders, “Come on Le, help me out here, will you?”
Leah clicks her tongue and crosses her arms over her chest, “Get ready. Now,”
“Urgh, such a buzzkill sometimes,” Monkey mutters to herself as she walks back over to her stuff on the bench and proceeds to get ready, “Told you we should’ve been quicker.”
“Monks’ in trouble with Mummy,” You tell Georgia knowingly.
Georgia chuckles in response, “I think she might be. What’s she like, eh?”
“A menace to society,” Leah mumbles, turning her attention back to you again, “Right, bubba, Mummy needs to go and warm up on the pitch now. You’re going to stay with Holly until I come back, alright?”
“Nooo!” You whine, reaching out to be back in her arms again because you don’t want to be too far away from her, “Me wan’ stay with ‘ou!”
“I know you do, but I can’t let you come on the pitch while we warm up, can I?” Leah chuckles, moving to tuck a loose strand of hair behind your ear, “You’ll have fun with Holly, and I’ll be back before you know it. I promise.”
You still don’t like that answer though, “No, wan’ stay with you!”
“Bubba, Mummy has to go out on the pitch and it’s not safe for you to be on there right now,” Leah explains to you in a gentle tone of voice, “You might get hurt and we don’t want that, do we? If you stay with Holly then you’ll be safe.”
You rest your head on her shoulder as you nod, “I come watch ‘ou warm up?” You ask, though it sounds muffled since you have your fingers in your mouth.
“Okay. You can from the safety of the sidelines,” Leah agrees, gently taking your fingers out of your mouth, “Don’t put your fingers in your mouth, bubba. Yucky germs, remember?” She reminds you, pressing a kiss to your forehead.
“Nooo! Me be on the pitch with ‘ou!” You still can’t grasp the idea of not being able to be there at the same time, “No sidelines, Mummy!”
Leah exhales a sigh, shaking her head in disagreement, “You can’t, Buddy. You can watch from the sidelines though, okay? You’ll still be able to see me just the same.” She tells you.
You scrunch your face up, “No, me wan’ be on the pitch! No sidelines!”
“Okay, let's take a minute to calm down,” Leah recognises the tell-tale signs of a brewing tantrum and steps to the side with you away from the rest of the girls, placing you down on the floor as she crouches to your level, “Listen to Mummy, bubba. I know you want to be on the pitch, but it’s really not safe when there’ll be a lot going on there, okay?”
“No!” You stomp your foot in disagreement and cross your arms over your chest, “Me no like ‘ou!”
“You don’t?” Leah feigns her hurt, clutching her hand over her heart, “When you say things like that, they really hurt Mummy’s feelings. You don’t mean that, do you?”
You continue to stand there in a grump, “I do! ‘Ou mean for not lettin’ me go on pitch!”
“Oh,” Leah murmurs, feeling hurt from your sudden rejection, “Well that’s okay, Mummy is just trying to keep you safe, bubba, because I love you very much and it would upset me if you did get hurt.” She adds.
“Me no like ‘ou anymore! ‘Ou mean Mummy!” You exclaim, not understanding that your words were really making such a big impact at the moment, “Me no like ‘ou!” You repeat.
“Buddy, that’s not very nice to say to your Mummy,” Keira wanders over and hears the conversation, crouching down to your level, “Your Mummy loves you so much, she’s just trying to keep you safe and not let you get hurt, because then you’d be upset if that happened, wouldn’t you?”
“She is mean! She won’ let me on pitch!” You insist, stomping your feet again for good measure, “I don’ like her no more!” You repeat.
“I’m sure you don’t mean that,” Keira frowns, glancing at Leah who looks almost close to tears at your harsh words, “You're upsetting your Mummy when you say things like that, Tiny. I’m sure you don’t want your Mummy to cry, do you?”
You think about what Keira has said for a few seconds before shaking your head, “No…”
“I know you don’t,” Keira nods in agreement, “I have something for you, but before I do, I need you to say sorry to your Mummy because it’s not kind to say things like that, is it?”
“No, I don’ mean it,” You tell her as you turn back around to face Leah, “I sorry Mummy! I didn’ mean it! I love ‘ou!” You exclaim, wrapping your small arms around her legs and peering up at her with an innocent face.
Leah smiles faintly as she crouches down to be at your level and wrap her arms around your small frame, “It’s okay, bubba,” She pauses, “I know you might be upset with Mummy, but I only ever say no to things because I love you and I want to protect you.”
“I no mean to make you cry,” You mumble as you observe the faint tear that rolls down Leah’s cheek, “Don’ cry, Mummy. Don’ be sad!”
Leah continues to hold you close to her as she moves a hand to wipe the stray tear away, “I’m not sad, bubba. I promise,” She tells you, “Mummy just loves you so much, you know? You’re my rainbow after the storm.”
“Don’ be sad Mummy. It’ be okay!” You tell her, moving your own hand to wipe her tears away, “I love ‘ou lots!”
You don’t really understand what Leah meant, but you know that she’s sad and that means an extra special hug with her.
“Right then,” Leah speaks up after a few seconds, “I think Auntie Kei has something special for you, doesn’t she? Do you want to see what it is?”
“I wan’ see it!” You exclaim, excited at the mention of getting to see what Keira has got for you, “What is it, Auntie Kei?”
“Come over here with me and have a look then,” Keira motions you over to where she has moved to stand with something hidden behind her back, “It’s something special I think you’re gonna like.”
You scrunch your face up in confusion, “What is it?”
“Ta-Da!” Keira pulls a small ball from out behind her back with a small red and blue ball with the England emblem on it, “Here you go, Tiny. It’s for you!”
Your eyes lit up in pure excitement, “Ball! Is’ mine?” You ask, plucking it from her hands.
“It’s all yours,” Keira nods in agreement, “Now you go and kick it about with Holly on the sidelines while we warm up, can’t you? It’ll be like you're warming up as well!”
“Me too?” You ask, gleefully.
“Exactly, it’s important that you warm up before the big game,” Keira insists, playfully poking you on your nose, “Can you do that for me?”
“You got it dude!” You stick your thumb up and nod in agreement, before bounding off towards Holly who’s just entered the dressing room as you clutch your new ball under your arm, “Holly! Look at me’ ball I got!”
“Whoa! Is that yours? That’s so cool!” Holly gasps in a playful manner, “Me and you can kick that around, can’t we?”
“Uh huh!” You insist, nodding your head, “Look, it’ got England on it!”
“Problem solved, eh?” Keira gives Leah a faint smile, wrapping a free arm around her shoulder, despite the fact that the two of them are neither a hugger, the midfielder knows that Leah needs it right now, “I’m here for you mate, I know it’s tough around this time right now.”
“Thank you,” Leah murmurs to her best friend, returning the hug with barely any words exchanged, but she’s still grateful for her stepping in at the right time, “I don’t think I was prepared for a tantrum, not right now, at least.”
Keira hums in agreement, “I know mate, I can understand that.”
“I think she might be getting tired,” Leah explains, exhaling a sigh, “But that might be due to the fact she’s awake since 5 am this morning apparently.”
“Ouch,” Keira grimaces at the mention of that, “It sounds like you might have your hands full tonight then.”
“Oh, don’t I know it?” Leah covers her sadness up with a chuckle, “I’m hoping that she’ll go to sleep when we’re back at St. George’s park, but knowing my luck, my two will be running about.”
Keira laughs, patting Leah on the shoulder, “Well, better you than me, mate. Better you than me.”
"Mummy! Mummy!" You impatiently tug on Leah's hand to get her attention while she is in the middle of chatting to Mary, who's standing behind her in the tunnel, "Mummy, I need to ask you something!"
"Sounds like it's something really important, eh, Buddy?" Mary jokes while she gives you a cheeky wink.
"It' is!" You insist with a nod of your head.
Leah turns around to give you her full attention, "What's the matter, bubba?"
"How long do we gots' to wait?" You question, fed up with waiting around in the tunnel to walk out onto the pitch, "It feels like we been waitin' forever!"
"It hasn't been that long, silly," Leah chuckles, brushing a stray curl from your face, "Just a little bit longer. Are you getting tired?" She asks, concerned.
You shake your head in disagreement, "No, I not tired, I just bored!" You tell her, letting out a dramatic huff, "Mummy! I need to tell you somethin'!"
"You do? What do you want to tell me?" Leah asks out of curiosity.
"One day when I' older like 'ou, I'm gon' be a lion... lioness!" You declare proudly, your tiny voice full of determination, "And be like Mama and Monks' too!"
Leah hums, smiling softly at you, "You already are my little lioness, bubba."
"No, Mummy, I wan' be a real lioness just like 'ou!" You exclaim, trying to express your seriousness about the subject that you really do want to be just like her, "I wan' be like 'ou!"
"One day you will be," Leah promises as she playfully pokes you on the nose lightly.
You can hear the noise from inside the stadium getting louder as it echoes through the tunnel and your tiny hand squeezes Leah's tightly, "Mummy! There lots of music, and it' loud!" You complain, not too much a fan of the loudness.
"It does sound loud, doesn't it?" Leah laughs and places her own hands over your ears, "Is that better now, bubba?"
"Uh huh. That' better!" You nod in agreement, moving to lean into her side and wrap your small arms around her legs, "Why do we gots' to wait so long? I'm bored!"
Leah chuckles at your question, "Patience, little miss."
"But I bored now. I wan' walk out!" You whine, not keen on the idea of standing in the tunnel instead, "How' long now?" You question.
"Not too long to wait now," Leah retorts, amusedly.
Clearly that answer isn't good enough by your response of letting out an exaggerated sigh, "I bored waiting now, Mummy! Can 'ou tell 'em to hurry up?"
"You're starting to sound like your big sister," Leah teases.
"I be like Monks'!" You proudly declare, puffing out your chest.
"I heard my name mentioned," Your favourite person pops up out of nowhere, appearing behind you.
"Monks'!" You exclaim, excited to see her, "Mummy says' I sound just like 'ou!"
Monkey playfully gasps, "You do? Wow. I think that's a compliment!" She insists, "Are you ready to walk out soon?"
"Yeah, but it sounds so loud out there!" You tell her.
Monkey hums in agreement, "It does sound a bit loud, doesn't it?" She pauses for a brief second, "Oh! Remember though, when you walk out, you've gotta wave at everyone and smile for the cameras!"
"Will Mama be able to see me?" You ask, excited for Jordan to be able to see you on the TV.
"Probably, yeah!" Monkey agrees.
Your eyes light up in pure excitement, "Mummy! Monks' said that Mama will be able to see me on telly!"
"That's right, bubba," Leah nods in agreement, "I bet Mama will be watching so she'll be able to see you walking out."
"And Nana, too?" You wonder, fascinated that everyone will be able to see you on the big screen.
"Mhm, Nana's up in the crowd, isn't she?" Leah retorts, amused by your amazement, "You'll have to give her a big wave so you can ask if she saw you, won't you?"
"Yeah!" You exclaim loudly.
Monkey huffs in protest, "Bit miffed I didn't get to see her before the game."
"There's still plenty of time afterwards, don't worry, you've not been forgotten," Leah teases.
"Yeah, don' worry Monks'! Nana will still be there for 'ou to see after!" You parrot Leah's words, which earns a laugh by the players around, "Mummy! Can I hold your flag? I wan' hold it!"
"You do?" Leah asks with a playful gasp, "It's an important job, so you need to make sure to hold it tightly and don't drop it, do you think you can manage it?"
"You got it dude!" You agree, sticking your thumb up at her.
Leah laughs and hands you the flag for you to hold, "Alright, hold onto it tightly for me then, bubba."
"Look, Monks' I get to hold the flag!" You tell Monkey, excitedly.
"Wow, that's cool!" Money retorts, playfully ruffling your hair, "That's a super important thing to do!"
Your excitement is quickly overshadowed by grumpiness due to being tired, and it tips the scale at that moment, "No, Monks' stop it! I don' like it!" You tell her while giving her a small scowl.
"Geesh, someone needs a nap," Monkey can't help but wind you up even more, continuing to ruffle your hair, "Why are you in a grump?"
"STOP IT!" You shout directly at your big sister.
"Buddy," Leah chastises you in a gentle but firm tone of voice, "Hey, there's no need to shout, is there?"
"Mummy! Tell Monks' to stop!" You whine, peering up to look at Leah with a grumpy expression on your face, "She doin' my 'ead in! Keep messin' up me hair! Tell 'er to stop doin' it!"
Leah stifles her laughter as you have a certain flair for dramatics, "Quit it, Menace."
"What?" Monkey murmurs, holding her hands up in protest, "I didn't do out. You have no proof!"
"Just stop being a nuisance, will you, please?" Leah asks, exhaling a sigh.
You signal to be picked up, lifting your arms above your head without any words due to your tiredness.
Leah leans down and scoops you up into her arms, "She's already tired, and I don't need you to be winding her up even more, okay?"
"Alright, alright," Monkey reluctantly agrees, slumping her shoulders, "Tattle-tail."
"Monkey!" Leah scolds her while giving her a stern look, "What did I just say-- Go back and stand in the line. You're not helping matters here."
"Geesh, maybe you need a nap as well," Monkey doesn't miss the opportunity to say as she starts to move back to her original place in the line in between Jess Naz and Jess Carter.
Leah arches her eyebrow, "I heard that."
"Good, cos' you were meant to," Monkey replies, cheekily before she proceeds to poke Georgia.
"What's she like, eh?" Leah murmurs, tucking a fly away hair out of your face as you rest your head on her shoulder, "Are you getting tired now, bubba?"
"Uh huh," You nod in agreement as a small yawn slips past your mouth, "I tired now Mummy! Walk out soon?"
"Very soon now," Leah reassures you as she gently bounces you in her arms, "Do you want Mummy to carry you, or do you want to walk out?"
"I walk!" You mumble as you tiredly rub your eyes, "Down please!" You insist as you wriggle about, wanting to be back down on the floor again.
You are currently too tired to really know what you right now, and Leah can tell that as time goes on, you're becoming more and more grumpy, which means it's only momentarily before you do fall asleep.
However, there's also the issue of you not sleeping later tonight then, and she's hoping that you can stay awake until the ride back on the coach.
"As you wish," Leah gently places you back down on the floor, but you're still feeling tired as you cling to her legs, just as it's time to walk out, "It's time now, bubba. Are you ready?" She questions, taking hold of your hand.
"I ready!" You agree, clutching hold of it as you tightly grasp the flag in your other hand.
"Let's go then my little lioness," Leah chuckles, leading the way to walk out of the tunnel with you right beside her.
As you begin to walk out from the tunnel with your hand clasped in Leah's, the roar of the crowd surrounds you and your eyes widen as you take it all in, "Hi Wembley!" You exclaim, your tiredness gone in that moment, "Mummy! Is' so loud, isn't it?"
"I know it is," Leah retorts, peering down at you with a soft smile, "You're doing a great job holding the flag for me, bubba."
"Me holdin' it for 'ou!" You declare, proudly and make sure to keep a tight hold on it so you don't drop it.
There's a lot of people all standing up and cheering as Leah and the rest of the lionesses all line up, and you stand in front of Leah as she drapes her free arm around your shoulder.
You stand in front of Leah and look around the stadium with wide eyes, "Are all these people here to see me, Mummy?"
Leah can't help but laugh in amusement, "Not quite, bubba, but I think they will be happy to see you," She pauses, "Do you want to wave at them and say hello?"
"Yeah, I wan' wave to them!" You insist, letting go of Leah's hand to wave to the loud crowd around you, "I wavin' to 'em, Mummy!"
"You're stealing the show, Buddy," Mary chimes in, grinning at you.
"I wavin' to them all, so Nana and Uncle J and Gan'ma can see me!" You ramble to Mary, "Hi, Nana! Hi, Uncle G! Hi, Gan'ma! Mummy, do 'ou think they can see me now I'm wavin' at 'em?"
"I think they might be able too," Leah chuckles as she motions over to the big screen, "Look, bubba, there's the camera. See? Give it a wave and you'll be able to see yourself on the big screen!" She exclaims, pointing with her index finger to the camera that's panning down the line of lionesses, before you peer up to where the TV shows you eagerly waving at the camera.
"Wow, Mummy. I can see me!" You squeal, vibrating with excitement, "I wave at the camera like 'ou said to do!"
"Great job, Buddy!" Leah coos, as you start to shiver a bit from the bitter cold temperature in the stadium, so Leah does no more than take off her presentation jacket and drapes it around your arms, "Is that better, bubba?"
"Yeah! I cold!" You whine, feeling a bit more warmer with the jacket around you as you decide to be nosy and stick your head out, looking down the line at the opposing players, "Mummy! I can see Emily!" You state, excitedly.
"You can? Wow!" Leah says with a playful gasp, "You'll have to remember to say hi when we walk down the line, won't you?"
"Uh huh!" You nod in agreement, scrunching your face up in confusion when a song starts to play that you don't recognise, "What' this?" You ask.
"It's the USA's national anthem, bubba," Leah explains, "Just like we have ours, don't we?"
"I can sing about my dino'daurs!" You say with a certain sense of determination.
Leah faintly chuckles while she shakes her head, "Maybe save that one for another day."
Nodding in agreement, you recognise the music for what you're told is Englands' national anthem, but you would much prefer to sing about dinosaurs instead, in your opinion. You don't really know the words to this song, so you just stand there, your eyes gazing around the stadium as you continue to wave.
The next thing you know, you guess the song must have finished because everyone is starting to clap and the crowds' cheering gets louder and louder.
"Come on, bubba, we need to walk down the line now," Leah guides you in the direction to walk down and high five with the players on the USA team, "Give them a high five, Buddy." She gestures about what to do, exchange a high five with Lindsey Horan.
"Can I get a high five?" The blonde woman, known as Lindsey Horan questions, crouching down to your level as you go a bit shy, shaking your head and trying to hide behind Leah.
"Give her a high five, bubba," Leah tells you in a gentle tone of voice, but you remain firm in your decision and shake your head again, "Sorry. I think she's gone a bit shy."
You were hesitant to high five with the majority of the USA players, however when you saw Emily it was totally different, "Emily!" You shout, recognising the brunette from Arsenal, "Look, I got Mummy's flag cos' I special and get to hold it!"
"You get to hold that? Wow, that's such an important role, munchkin!" Emily insists with a genuine smile on her face, crouching down to your level to give you a high five but to her surprise, you throw your small arms around her legs, "Oh, I get a hug? Thank you, Buddy!"
Leah blinks in surprise, your usual chatterbox self making an appearance again as she exchanges a high five with Emily, "Good luck, Foxy," She wishes her luck, "Come on, bubba, we need to make our way down the rest of the line." She says, encouraging you to keep walking to reach the end of the players.
"Mummy! I saw Emily an' gave her a hug!" You retort, like she wasn't just there to witness it, "Did you see?"
"I did see that, and it was very kind of you to do that," Leah nods in agreement, gesturing you to where the Lionesses all huddled together for a team photo.
"Are you going to be part of our team photo, Buddy?" Alessia questions, walking over as she's chucked her own presentation jacket off.
You nod your little head in agreement, "Yeah, I join! I like taking photos!"
Monkey appears by your side, "Do you want to come and crouch beside me?"
"Yeah!" You move to stand beside Monkey, who's crouching on the grass as she protectively wraps her arm around your shoulder.
"Remember to say cheese, Buddy!" Lucy Bronze calls out from where she's stood behind you, to the right hand side of Leah.
"Or rotten tomatoes," Beth chimes in, jokingly.
You scrunch your face up in disgust, "Ew, rotten tomatoes' are gross, Auntie Beth!"
Beth laughs in amusement, "Do you want to continue to hold the flag, or do you want me to hold onto it?"
"I do it!" You insist stubbornly, refusing to let go off the flag anytime soon.
"You got it," Beth says, holding her hands up in mock surrender, "Say cheese, Buddy!"
"Cheese!" You parrot, beaming a smile in the direction of the camera pointing directly at you, "I said cheese, Monks'!"
"Good job, Buddy!" Monkey exchanges a high five with you, "I bet that'll be a great photo when it comes out!"
"Me a lioness now!" You declare, promptly.
"You sure are," Georgia comes up behind you and scoops you up into her arms, dangling you over her shoulder so you're upside down.
"Agh! Put me down, Auntie G!" You squeal in protest, not keen on being upside down as you pound your tiny fists against your back, "Put me down."
"Are you sure you don't like being upside down?" Georgia teases.
Keira catches onto what Georgia is doing and grimaces, "G, you're gonna make her sick if you dangle her upside down like that."
"No, I don' like it!" You squeal in response, "Put me down. Now!"
"She's fine, don't worry," The younger girl responds as she laughs.
Leah's eyes widen in panic, "Georgia, do not drop my child!"
"Oh please, like that's not happened before," Georgia retorts as she rolls her eyes, swinging you around and placing you on the ground to relieve Leah's blood pressure, "Since when did you get so sassy, Tiny?"
Leah suddenly completely freezes and turns to look at her confused, "What?"
"Yeah, Monks' dropped me, Mummy!" You chime in at the perfect moment to drop the bombshell.
"What?" Leah's eyes are wide like saucers, standing there with her hands on her hips, while giving Monkey the look.
"No I didn't-- That never happened! You have no proof!" Monkey tries to worm her way out of this one, attempting to look less guilty than she currently did, "Buddy! That was supposed to be a secret between us, remember?"
"I forgot," You admit, grinning at your big sister.
Monkey face palms and throws her head back for extra exaggeration, "I even gave you extra ice cream and everything!"
"You blackmail your sister?" Leah continues to look at Monkey in disbelief.
"Eh, well I think blackmailing is a bit extreme," Monkey mumbles, scratching the back of her neck, "It was more like bribing her..."
"Monkey!" Leah exclaims, outraged.
"What? I'm sorry-- It was a complete accident, I swear! I didn't mean to drop her!" You insist, holding your hands up in self defence, "Total fluke."
Leah clicks her tongue and shakes her head, "Unbelievable," She mutters to herself.
"I mean... At least it was a soft landing," Monkey retorts, shrugging her shoulders.
"We'll talk more about this later," Leah reiterates to her, shaking her head as she realises she needs to get on with captain duties now, "Bubba, can Mummy have the flag now? You did such a good job keeping it safe, but I need it now."
"No!" You stubbornly refuse, shaking your head, "It' mine now!"
"No, no, that's not how it works," Leah tells you with a gentle tone of voice, "Mummy needs to exchange it now with the USA captain, so I need it back, please."
"Nooo! It' mine, Mummy! 'Ou can't have it!" You whine, your tiredness slowly creeping in as you cling onto the flag in your hands.
"Bubba," Leah begins to speak still in a gentle voice, "Mummy needs it back now. If you want I can buy you one like it, but I need this one now, okay?" She continues to be patient and explain to you.
"No," Your stubbornness is even more evident with your tiredness, "It' mine. 'Ou can't have it, Mummy!"
Leah inwardly groans and bites her bottom lip, realising that you're not going to willingly give up the flag, "I'm sorry, Buddy, but Mummy needs it now," So with thatin mind, she has to prise it out of your hands, which as expected, begins a whole different meltdown.
Only this time it's on the pitch, in front of several thousand fans.
"My flag!" The waterworks instantly flow and you crumple down on the floor, "Give it back. Now." Your little voice demands, your sobs' worsening as you throw yourself to the floor and hit your fists on the pitch.
Leah feels truly awful in that minute, she wants to reach down, scoop you up in her arms and comfort you, however, she needs to deal with captain duties, so she's really torn.
"Oh dear," Beth takes note of the situation and frowns, crouching down to your level, gesturing for Leah to do what she needs to do, "What's happened here? You were so smiley five minutes ago then, Buddy!" She coos, knowing full well how to tackle a tantrum now.
Your bottom lip trembles, visibly upset, "Mummy took m' flag!"
"Your flag?" Beth furrows her eyebrow in confusion, "Oh you don't want that one, I bet we can find you one that's much cooler than that, what do you reckon?" She suggests the idea that will solve the problem.
"I like it, though!" You tell her, your sobs' still evident as tears roll down your cheeks.
"Yeah, but I bet you we can find an Arsenal one, or I think we can get one especially made for you," Beth continues to suggest, "Wouldn't that be cool?"
"M' okay then," You don't hesitate to think about it, nodding in agreement.
"But we can't do that if you're crying now, can we?" Beth teases, leaning forward to wipe a stray tear from face.
You shake your head in disagreement, "No..."
"Exactly, now where's our smiley Buddy gone?" Beth questions, hoping to make you smile again.
"Ere' I am!" You exclaim, your upset starting to differ at the change of subject.
"That's much better," Beth retorts with a soft smile, "We can't have a frowny Buddy can we? I think we all much prefer a smiley Buddy!"
"I smile!" Your tears start to slowly subside, spotting Leah heading back over to you, "Mummy! Auntie Beth said I can have own flag!"
"Oh, really? I'm sure that can be arranged," Leah remarks in agreement, nodding her head as she mouths a quick "thank you" to Beth that you don't pay much attention to her, "Right, bubba, it's time for the game to start now. You're going to go back and sit with everyone now, alright?"
"Yeah, I go back and find Nana. I tell her about everything!" You insist in agreement, "I go find Holly?"
"She's right over there, can you see her?" Leah motions over to where Holly is standing just inside of the tunnel out of the way as she gives you a little wave, "You run to her, and Mummy will see you after the game finishes, okay?"
"Okay, Mummy! I cheer super loud for you!" You say with a sense of determination as you wrap your tiny arms around her legs, "I see you in bit! I love 'ou!"
Leah pulls you into her arms and squeezes you tightly for a brief couple of seconds, "I love you too, bubba!" She tells you, kissing you on the forehead, "Be good, alright? I'll see you in a bit."
"I see you in a bit!" You repeat, pulling out of the hug as you start to toddle towards Holly in the tunnel, "Holly! Did 'ou see me wavin' on the big screen? I wavin' so everyone can see me!"
"I did see you!" Holly nods in agreement as you let a yawn escape your mouth, "Shall we go and find everyone now, huh? You can tell us all about it!"
"Uh huh!" You agree, holding your arms up and without any further words, Holly easily scoops you up into her arms.
"Someone's tired, aren't they?" Holly coos, rubbing soothing circles on your back as your eyes begin to flutter shut, despite your attempts to keep them open, “Come on sleepy girl, let’s get you somewhere you can have a nap.”
"Hey, there's our little superstar!" Amanda's brother, your Great-Uncle exclaims, as he spots you and Holly walk back to the box, "Did you have fun out there, kiddo?"
"Uh huh! Lots' of fun!" You tell them enthusiastically, your small hands fumbling with Holly's necklace around her neck.
"We saw you on the big screen, munchkin!" Jacob chimes in.
"Yeah! I walk out there!" You say as you start to wriggle in Holly's arms to get down, wanting to be the centre of attention, "I was wavin' to 'ou all!"
Berny hums in agreement, "We saw. You did a great job, darling!"
"I got to hold Mummys' flag!" You exclaim, bouncing up and down on your tip-toes, "An' I took picture with 'em!"
"Wow," Ben gasps playfully, "It sounds like you had a lot of fun out there!"
You nod enthusiastically, your tiredness overshadowed by pure excitement, "I fun! I' did an important job holding it! I' a Lioness!"
"You did, it is an important job, isn't it?" Amanda smiles at your excitement, "Alright then, Little Lioness, the games about to kick off now. Where do you want to sit to watch it?"
"I sit with Uncle J!" You insist, toddling over to him and attempting to climb up onto his lap, "I' need 'elp, p'ease!"
Jacob chuckles in amusement, leaning down to scoop you up, and plonking you on his lap, "Better, munchkin?"
"Better!" You agree, just as a small yawn escapes your mouth, "I' no tired!"
"Are you sure?" Jacob laughs, tickling your sides which worsens your mood, "Maybe that has something to do with you waking me up so early this morning, eh?" He jokes.
You turn around, scowling at the lad, "Stop, Uncle J. I' no like that!"
"You don't? But you were so happy to wake me up this morning, so I thought I would just return the favour!" Jacob grins, finding amusement in winding you up despite your own grumpiness.
"Stop it. No like it!" You whine, tiredly.
"Oh, I think someones' a bit tired, aren't they now?" Ben joins in, chuckling.
"I think so," Jacob retorts, "Wakey, wakey, Buddy!"
Amanda chuckles and shakes her head, "Son, don't wind her up,"
"I'm only doing the same thing she did to me this morning," Jacob replies, grinning from ear to ear.
"No! Stop it' Uncle J!" You reach your hands out to swat him, accidentally catching him in the face, "I' no like it!"
Holly winces as she watches your little hand fly out and hit Jacob, "Oh dear."
"Ah, ah," Amanda reacts instantly, reaching over and plucking you off Jacob's lap, "We don't hit little miss. That's not very nice to do that."
You scowl in return, looking straight at her, "Nana, Uncle J's doin' my head in!"
"I know he is," Amanda finds it hard to stifle her laugh and be serious in the situation with the expression you are pulling, "But it's still not okay for you to hit him. We have to use gentle hands, remember?"
You're still in a sulk, crossing your arms over your chest, "He bein' mean!" Your tiredness continues to take over, making everything seem like a complete meltdown.
"I know, but he's going to stop now," Amanda says as she looks at Jacob while she says it so it's more aimed at him, "I think you're a bit tired now, aren't you?"
You shake your head in protest, "I' no tired!" You say just as you let another yawn again, "I go an' sit back on Uncle J!"
"That's fine, but you have to remember to be kind otherwise Uncle J won't want you to sit with him, will he?" Amanda reminds you in a tone of voice that is gentle but still held some firmness as well.
"I' be nice!" You mumble, inching your way off Amanda's lap to clamber back onto Jacob's, "I' sorry for hitting 'ou, Uncle J."
"That's alright, munchkin. I know you didn't mean to do it," Jacob responds, "I'm sorry for winding you up as well." He adds.
You move to rest your head on the lads' shoulder, "That' okay." You mumble, your eyes are heavy with sleep as you fight to stay awake.
"You can sleep if you want?" Jacob whispers, rubbing small soothing circles on your back.
"I' no tired," You whine while you still rest your head on his shoulder, "I' be awake an' watch game!"
Your determination didn't stretch very far and within the first twenty minutes of the game, so you end up flaking out on Jacob's lap. The chatter around lulling you to sleep even though you tried to refuse to sleep when the game is going on around you.
"So much for her not bein' tired, eh?" Ben jokes, leaning in towards Jacob.
Jacob chuckles, rocking you in his arms, "I know, that didn't take long at all,"
"Let's just hope that she will sleep tonight, otherwise Le's gonna be in for a tough one," Holly chimes in, knowingly.
"I imagine she'll be fine," Jacob retorts, shrugging his shoulders and letting you sleep peacefully, not shocked you're able to sleep through the noise in the stadium considering you are more than used to it now.
Just as the whistle blew for half time, you wake up from your brief nap and it's like the energy inside you has been restored as you become your usual chatterbox self once again.
"I' hungry now!" You declare, huffing as you rub the sleep from your eyes.
"You're the hungry little caterpillar, huh?" Jacob jokes.
You shake your head in protest, "No, I' just a hungy' Buddy!" You tell him.
"Oh, right. My apologies, hungry Buddy," Jacob continues to joke, "Shall we get you something to fill that hole? I can hear noises coming from your tummy!" He exclaims, playfully gasping in shock.
"Uh huh! I' come with 'ou to get it!" You tell him, wriggling to get off his lap so he can stand up.
"Okay," Jacob agrees with your decision.
"I'll join you. I need another drink," Ben chimes in, standing up from his own seat.
"Nana! I goin' with Uncle J to get somethin' cos' I'm hungy'!" You exaggerate, rubbing your stomach for emphasis, "I' be back in bit!"
Amanda chuckles at your little demands, "Oh, are you? Alright, well just remember to hold Uncle J's hand please."
"'Ou got it, dude!" You stick your thumb up in response, before clutching hold of Jacob's hand and toddling off to get something to eat.
"She's such a little character sometimes, isn't she?" Holly chuckles in amusement.
"Oh she definitely is. She's definitely Leah's daughter, alright," Berny jokes.
"Looks like it's a bit of a long queue," Ben retorts, motioning to it, "Do you know what you want to eat, cheeky chops?" He uses his usual nickname for you.
"Me wan' nuggets!" You declare, excitedly.
"Consider it done," Jacob nods in agreement as you continue to clutch a tight grip of his hand, though you become increasingly bored waiting and decide to make it known, very vocally.
"I' bored, waitin'!" You whine impatiently to Jacob and Ben who are having their own conversation between the two of them, so you proceed to let go of Jacob's hand and tug on the male's jacket in front of you that you faintly recognise, "Hi 'Ou Lessi's brother!" You exclaim enthusiastically, recognising him from matches both at Arsenal and England.
The man spins around and peers down at you, "Hi, Buddy."
You gasp in shock, your eyes widening, "Ou' know my name?" You ask, a bit confused, "What 'our name?"
"I do, I'm Luca," The man chuckles, crouching down to your level, "And your Leah and Jordan's little one, aren't you?"
You nod enthusiastically, "Yeah, I' Buddy! That my Mummy an' Mama's names!" You continue to gasp in amazement that he knows who they are, "Hey... 'Ou not the one that I saw in Australia!" You state, somewhat offended suddenly.
Luca chuckles, "I'm not."
"Where' he then?" You scrunch your face up in confusion.
"No, I'm not. That's my brother, Georgio," Luca explains to you, "He's in Australia, all the way on the other side of the world."
You gasp in amazement, "That' where Ra' is! An' Stephy an' Caitlin!" You exclaim in excitement, "Ra' is Monks' best friend! Like I best friends with Roo!"
Luca arches his eyebrow, a little confused with your rambling and trying to keep up with who is who, "Oh, are they? Who's Ra' again?"
You slump your shoulders and let out a small dramatic huff, "Kyra, duh!"
"Oh," Luca chuckles faintly, "Yeah, I've met her a few times... And Roo is your best friend then, huh?"
"Uh huh!" You nod your little head promptly, "We besties! Monks' says so!"
"I see, and Monks' is..." Luca's slightly confused with the different people.
"Monks' is my big sister!" You exclaim, exaggerating another little huff, "An' this is m' Uncle J and Ben!"
Jacob chuckles in amusement, "Alright, Luca? I see you've met our little chatterbox?"
"I' no chat... I no' one of them!" You find it hard to pronounce the correct words while pouting at Jacob, "I' tell him about Monks'!"
"Yeah, very interesting conversation," Luca plays along with your ramble, "I have been told all about the Aussie girls, and Monks' as well."
"Menace that one is," Ben quips in, "We're at the front of the queue now, cheeky chops. Is it just nuggets that you want?"
"An' chips' as well!" You insist, promptly.
Jacob chuckles, "Can't forget the chips now, can we?" He jokes, reeling off the food you want and tapping his card to pay for said items.
"An' dippy sauce too!" You shout aloud.
Ben laughs, accepting the drinks hes' given as he takes a swig of one of them before passing one of them over to Jacob.
It's not long before Jacobs' handed over your chicken nuggets and chips, "Right, shall we go back to everyone now?"
"Uca' come too!" You peer up to look at Luca in question.
"Luca's sitting with his own family, munchkin. I'm sure you can see him in a bit though," Jacob explains, amused that you seem to have latched onto someone else who you barely know, "Let's go show Nana what you've got, yeah?"
"Okay... But I' see 'ou in a bit, 'Uca!" You wave enthusiastically at your new friend, before toddling off with Jacob and Ben back to your box, "I' back now!"
"Oh I thought it was quiet around here," Holly retorts playfully.
"I' not quiet!" You tell her, confused.
Berny chuckles in amusement, "What've you got there, darling?"
"Nuggets an' chips!" You say, pointing to each item that you have in Jacob's hands, "An' dippy sauce as well!"
"Wow, that looks good," Amanda states, helping you sit in your own seat before Jacob carefully hands you your meal, "Careful when you eat it, sweetheart. It might still be a bit hot." She warns, gently.
"I' be careful!" You insist, kicking your little legs as you tuck into your chicken nuggets and chips, "M' it nice! I' no share either!" You add, speaking with your mouthful.
"Game 'over now?" You hear the final whistle blow to signal the end of the game, which ends in a result of nil - nil with a penalty overruled by a VAR decision.
Amanda nods in agreement, "It is now, sweetheart."
"I' see Mummy and Monks' now?" You question, eager to see both of them.
"They'll both be coming up here soon," Amanda explains, reaching over to wipe a bit of sauce off your cheek with a napkin, "You just have to be patient a little bit longer, okay?"
"I' bored waitin' though!" You huff dramatically, resting your chin on your hand as you kick your legs, "I' wait... but I no like waitin'!"
Jacob laughs, leaning forward to ruffle your hair gently, "You're so patient, aren't you, munchkin?"
"I' no patient!" You correct him indignantly, your little pout returning as you munch on a chip, "I wanna see 'em now! Mummy said I' see her after!"
"She will come as soon as she can," Amanda reassures you with a soft smile, "Why don't you finish your food first, and then I'm sure they'll be upstairs before you know it, hm?"
Your eyes brighten a little at the idea of that, "Okay, Nana! I eat first so I' see her quicker!"
Ben chuckles, "I don't think that's how it works, cheeky chops. Be careful you don't choke now, alright?"
You give him a dramatic thumbs up before stuffing another nugget in your mouth, chewing determinedly as you hope it makes the time go quicker.
You don't know how much time has passed before you feel someone cover your eyes with their hands, "Boo!" You recognise the familiar voice of your favourite person.
"Monks'!" You squeal, spinning around to face her.
The girl grins amusedly, "Miss me?"
"It's all we've heard since the game ended," Holly teases, her tone fond.
"I missed you as well, Buddy!" Monkey states, ruffling your hair despite your overall disagreement on it, "Did you see me out on the pitch?" She questions.
"I' saw! Gan'ma helped me see!" You beam proudly, bouncing on your toes.
"Yeah, you're too short to see otherwise, eh, munchkin?" Jacob teases, before he falls into conversation with Monkey, catching up since the last time they saw each other.
"Am I just forgotten' about now, huh?" Leah jokes, entering the box freshly showered with her damp hair scraped back as Keira follows her behind, grinning.
"Mummy!" You shout, bolting straight to her and throw your small arms around her, "I miss 'ou!"
Leah scoops you up, pressing a kiss to your temple, "Oh that's a nice cuddle I needed," She coos, "Thank you bubba, I missed you too."
"I' watch game!" You tell her proudly.
Leah gasps playfully, tucking a stray strand of your hair behind your ear, "Did you have fun watching it?"
"Uh huh! I' missed 'ou though!" You admit, resting your head against her shoulder.
Leah smile softens as she kisses the top of your head again, "I missed you too, bubba, but I'm glad you had a good time."
"Mummy?" You ask, your voice dropping into a whisper, "What' the surprise now?"
"Oh, you didn't forget about that one, did you?" Leah chuckles, "Well how would you like it if you stayed with me, Monks' and the rest of the girls for the rest of camp?"
Your jaw drops, "That' be so cool! I can?"
"Of course you can, bubba! I already asked Sarina, so you're going to travel back with us instead of going back to Mama's house," Leah confirms, grinning at your reaction.
"Yay! We go now?" You ask eagerly, wiggling in her arms.
"In a little bit," Leah says, laughing at your excitement, "We need to get your things out of Nana's car first."
"Mr. Bear comin' too," You insist with wide eyes.
"Of course," Leah reassures you, "I can't imagine you would want to leave him behind, would you?"
"No, he no like it," You say with a decisive shake of your head.
Monkey comes barreling over to you, grinning, "Did you tell her the surprise, Le?"
"Monks'! I come to camp an' sleep over!" You exclaim proudly.
"I know!" Monkey says, her eyes sparkling with excitement, "We're gonna have so much fun. It's gonna be epic! We'll stay up late, swap manly stories, and in the morning... I'm making waffles!"
"I 'cited!" You nod along, excitedly.
Ben stares at Monkey, deadpan, "Did... Did you just quote Shrek?"
"Obviously, Ben," Monkey rolls her eyes dramatically.
"Oh boy, you're in for some fun there love," Berny chuckles, shaking her head in amusement.
Leah groans playfully, shaking her head, "What did I sign up for?"
Holly snorts in response, "Double trouble with them pair."
"Double trouble indeed," Keira retorts, smirking.
"Duh, what'd yer' expect with us both together?" Monkey quips, slinging her arm around Keira's shoulder, "Right, Buddy?"
"Right, Monks'!" You declare, nodding your head in agreement.
"Yeah… I' think I'm going to end up regretting this by the end of the week," Leah mutters to nobody in particular.
And sure enough, the chaos that you both cause is nearly the cause of Leah having somewhat of a nervous breakdown, but that's another story for a different day, of course.

The old Victorian house is dark and silent, the air thick with a chill that has nothing to do with the weather outside. Dean moves ahead, flashlight in one hand, shotgun in the other, while you linger near the entryway.
“Anything?” Dean asks, his voice low but steady.
You close your eyes, letting the cold prickle against your skin as you open yourself up. It doesn’t take long. A faint whisper brushes past your ear, followed by the soft sound of a child’s laughter echoing through the hallway.
“They’re here,” you murmur, your voice soft. “Two of them. A little boy and his mother. They’re not malicious, just... lost.”
Dean glances back at you, his sharp green eyes softening for a moment. “You sure about that?”
You nod, stepping closer to him. “They’re scared. Confused. Probably didn’t even realize they were gone.”
Dean watches as you move toward the staircase, your movements confident and purposeful. He knows this is your element. You’ve always been more comfortable with the spirits than with the living.
He follows you up the creaking stairs, his grip tightening on the shotgun. “You know, most people would be freaked out by the idea of talking to ghosts.”
You shrug, glancing back at him with a faint smile. “Most people haven’t been hurt by humans the way I have.”
Dean stops in his tracks, his jaw tightening. You didn’t say it to provoke a reaction—it’s just the truth. But he hates hearing it, hates knowing that someone out there hurt you so badly that you now find solace in the company of the dead.
“I get it,” he says quietly, his voice softer than you’ve ever heard it.
You pause at the top of the stairs, turning to look at him. “Do you?”
He nods, his expression unreadable. “I’ve seen a lot of bad in people. Hell, I’ve been some of that bad. So, yeah. I get it.”
Something in his tone makes your chest tighten. You want to respond, but a faint tug at your senses pulls your focus.
“They’re upstairs,” you say, turning toward the end of the hallway.
Dean follows without another word, his presence steady and grounding behind you.
When you reach the room, the air grows colder. The boy is sitting by the window, his translucent form barely visible in the moonlight. His mother stands protectively behind him, her gaze wary but not unkind.
“Hey,” you whisper, crouching down to their level. “It’s okay. We’re here to help.”
The boy looks at you with wide eyes, and for a moment, it feels like the three of you are the only ones in the world. Dean stands silently behind you, watching as you coax the spirits into letting go, your voice calm and soothing.
When they finally disappear in a shimmer of light, you exhale, leaning back against the wall.
“You’re amazing at that,” Dean says after a moment, his voice filled with genuine admiration.
You glance up at him, a small smile tugging at your lips. “It's not a big deal.”
Dean steps closer, crouching in front of you so you’re at eye level. “Maybe. But you’re still here. Still trying, even after everything. That’s what makes you amazing.”
The vulnerability in his voice catches you off guard. “Dean…”
He shakes his head, reaching out to brush a strand of hair from your face. “I mean it. You don’t have to trust people. You don’t even have to trust me. But I’m not going anywhere. I’m sticking around, no matter what.”
His words settle in your chest, warm and unfamiliar. You nod, swallowing the lump in your throat. “Thanks.”
He smiles, standing and holding out a hand to help you up. “Come on, let’s get out of here. I think we’ve done enough ghost whispering for one night.”
You take his hand, letting him pull you to your feet. And as you walk out of the house together, you can’t help but think that if you're ever trusting another person again, Dean would be the right one.

tongue tied
thank you @nine-one-wanton for the title 😂🫶
BuckTommy | E (eh.. maybe M+) | 4859 words
also on ao3!
Mortification…
That still isn’t a strong enough emotion to describe what Buck is feeling at the moment.
He glances down at Tommy and asks if he’s still okay. All Tommy can do is blink in response; once for yes, twice for no. Pretty much any movement causes them both pain… and the humiliation is bad enough without them being overly sore as well.
Tommy slides a gentle hand over Bucks thigh, doing his best to smile up at him. He inhales deeply through his nose and blows it back out, adjusting how he’s sitting on his legs, having to keep himself up high enough so he doesn't accidentally tug on the rings— tangled together and seemingly inseparable.
There’s a knock at the loft’s door, and Buck hears Bobby’s voice yell out to him. He looks down at Tommy and sighs.
This was definitely not how the team was supposed to learn they made up.
****
(Two months earlier)
Tommy sat in a small chair, waiting his turn at the tattoo and piercing parlor. It had been years since Tommy had worn his little hoop earrings in his ears. Yet when he pushed the curved bar through the hole— thinking maybe they would be closed up and he’d have to force them— they just slipped right in.
He considered getting a second hole, maybe. A nose ring. A belly button ring…
Was he being dramatic— I want to feel something beyond the heartache I have caused for myself… so I’m going to go have a needle jabbed through some part of my body— maybe… He would agree, too, that maybe it was a little juvenile… a little petty even, to ultimately settle on a piercing Ev- no… Buck had shown so much interest in. He’d talked about having blowjobs from girls with tongue rings in his “Buck 1.0 days” (whatever that means); he said they were amazing.
So now Tommy would have one, too… and he could give whoever the next guy he hooked up with amazing blow jobs. Take that memory of Buck that just wouldn’t leave! (in reality he knew he was fooling himself… He doubted there would ever be a next guy for him… Buck, however, would probably be getting plenty of better head from people way better than Tommy— whose knees don’t creak and ache after just a few short minutes on them, and who’s jaw hadn’t been shattered and wired shut in his teens so he can only hold it open for so long before it locks up.)
He huffed angrily at the thought of someone else with Buck’s— with Evan's dick sitting heavy on their tongue; thrusting in and out, hitting the back of their throat. Someone else swallowing down every drop of his—
“Sir…” the receptionist said, thankfully interrupting his train of thought before he snapped his phone in half. “You’re up.” Tommy cleared his throat and thanked her, rubbing a hand over the heat climbing up his neck from embarrassment.
He plopped down on the client chair and told the piercer what he wanted. He opted for the clear bar, and he had taken a (much needed) week off work; hopefully it would be healed by then. The woman gave him the instructions: sit up straight, stick out your tongue, please don’t try to grab my wrist. “People do that?” Tommy asked, around the clamp on his tongue, and she gave him an exhausted look. Sorry… he thought but didn’t say.
He stuck his tongue out at himself in the bathroom mirror that night. It was swollen and very sore— it definitely didn’t make him feel better, but hey he’d always wanted to do something drastic. A tongue ring at forty counted… right? Yeah, it counted. He cleaned the piercing and went to bed.
****
(One month earlier)
Buck wasn’t sure if this was just some Buck 1.0.2 phase or a very emotional based impulsive (probably stupid) decision resulting from his still broken heart.
Still he was already there and had already put a deposit down; he might as well, right?
He had come to the parlor alone, because… well, what would anyone he knows say about him doing something like this. Maybe if it was something simple like an ear piercing… or hell, even a tongue piercing. But this— this was not something his pseudo siblings or father figure would be on board tagging along to. Eddie was in El Paso… and he definitely wasn’t about to ask Maddie along.
The receptionist smiled at him, had him sign in, and told him to take a seat.
He was early… Perhaps that had been a bad idea. His knee began to bounce and he fiddled with his fingers anxiously, staring around the parlor at the other clients ahead of him. Some laid back in the chairs getting tattooed— he should have just gotten another tattoo; what was he thinking— others getting any and every part of their body pierced. Most people were quiet. One lady in the back let out a scream so blood curdling Buck was about to get up and leave but—
“Sir! You're up!”
Buck followed the piercer into one of the private rooms. The man was quiet and looked like he might bite Buck’s head off if given the chance. He instructed Buck to lower his pants, his boxers, and sit down on the pad covered seat. He did as he was told, and the seat was tilted back, putting him on full display thanks to the cold room. Why was he even doing this? Just because Tommy had said some guy he talked to before they even knew each other said he might get one? Was Buck really that shallow— that jealous?!
“Alright, man… here we go.”
This was a bad idea.
This was a bad idea..
WHAT THE FUCK WAS HE THINKING!?!
This was so stupid! So bad! Such an impulsive idea!
“And done!”
Buck blinked once… twice… and looked down towards where the man was already slipping his gloves off. He pulled his dick up towards his stomach so he could see the little silver hoop hooked through his frenulum. “Oh,” he said, thanked the guy, paid and went home.
****
(Two days earlier)
Tommy played with the flat top of his tongue ring; he slid it back and forth over his teeth, he pushed the bar out enough to bite down on, all while he tapped on his steering wheel to the beat of a song playing on the radio. He was nervous.
And the thing was… he shouldn’t be.
He was a big brave grown man— capable of doing big brave grown man things… like to have drinks with an ex, whom he’s very much not over. He would be fine.
Except the only spot available was directly beside the Jeep.
“Fucking mother fucker.” Tommy grumbled out loud and turned into the spot hoping that maybe he wouldn’t be—
He was still sitting in the driver seat.
Cock sucking, bitch ass… What kind of god damned luck?!? How could he come to his senses about the meeting and run away now?
He sighed and put the truck in park, then turned to look at him. It was the very first time he’d laid eyes on the man— beyond the pictures and videos he couldn’t bring himself to delete from his phone— since he walked out of the loft.
Evan.
Or… Buck, since he’d decided to go that route and really drive the break up home.
“H- Hey…” Buck said as soon as the both were out of their vehicles. “Thanks for — for the invite.”
Tommy stuffed his hand down in his pockets, and chewed on the flat top to his tongue ring. “Of course,” he finally said. “I, uh… I felt like we really needed to talk about…”
“Everything?” Buck finished.
“Yeah,” Tommy nodded along. “Everything.”
“Okay… well for starters—” Buck wasted no time jumping right in. “Don’t ever call me Buck again.” He stared at Tommy so seriously before his lips twitched up a bit and he added, “please.”
“Noted,” Tommy said and there was a pause like he was waiting for— “Evan…” Tommy added and Evan fully smiled at that; he seemed relieved. “Okay, what else.”
Evan stepped towards him. Tommy had the slightest urge to step back, but even more of one to move closer— to reach out and grab him and cling like his life depended on it. Evan reached for him first. “Don’t ever make a decision like that for me again.” Tommy waited, his eyes searching Evan’s… trying to say without saying how sorry he was. Finally Evan leaned in and gently pressed his lips to Tommy’s. “If I had needed more time to figure myself out… if I wasn’t sure about this— that you were what I wanted. I wouldn’t have just strung you along until I did… okay?”
“Okay.” Tommy wanted to say more. He thought, maybe, he should say more… but his voice was lodged somewhere deep in his throat and all he could focus on was how his lips were tingling from that kiss. Evan, like a damn mind reader, took the moment to lean back in, deepening the kiss and wasting no time slipping his tongue into Tommy’s mouth. He noticed almost immediately.
“You got a tongue piercing?!”
“I— uh, yeah…”
Evan’s eyes lit up mischievously… his breathing hitches then speeds up… he leaned in for another kiss.
****
(One hour earlier)
Buck had been very mature about the fact Tommy now had a tongue ring. In fact… he was so mature about it, that he didn’t suggest they forget the drinks, and their plans to actually talk like level headed adults do… In fact, after just one more kiss— one more quick swipe of his tongue over the flat top of the bar— he pulled away from Tommy completely; minus their hands, which Evan promptly laced together as they walked into the bar.
And they talked.
They actually talked.
They opened up— more than he’d expected them to.
They cried. They laughed. They left a few hours later and were officially back together.
Buck remained mature, and didn’t offer (beg, plead, or bargain) to follow Tommy back to his place, or bring him back to the loft. He allowed the night to end with them parting ways, but with the promise there would be a next time— and plenty of times after that— So Buck was fine with going home alone.
But when Tommy arrived at the loft, a bottle of wine in hand, his curls styled nicely, and wearing the cologne that he knew Buck loved… the maturity went out the window. He tugged him in by the collar and crashed their lips together. Buck had asked him to put a regular bar in, one with the bigger metal ball. Tommy had laughed and made a bitchy little joke but as Buck’s tongue passed over the piercing he let his lips curl up into a pleased smirk to find Tommy had done as he’d asked.
They wasted no time; Tommy’s fingers ran along the hem of Buck’s shirt while Buck hurriedly pushed Tommy’s button-down off of his shoulders. “There’s something you should know…” Buck says as they nearly tripped over each other getting up the stairs, pieces of their outfits falling off every couple steps. He leans in close to Tommy’s ear and whispers, “I got something pierced too…” then he falls back onto the bed, pants and boxers already gone and his cock standing straight up like it’s showing it’s new accessory off.
Tommy’s eyes widen. His brows fly all the way up to his hairline. He crawls onto the bed and takes Buck in his hand, tilting him back to look at the piercing better. “It’s healed, right?” Buck nearly gives himself whiplash nodding. Tommy leans in and flicks the tip of his tongue over the hoop— over the little piece of skin it’s going through— and Buck sucks in a sharp breath. “Good?” Tommy asks.
“Amazing!”
“Okay, great…” Tommy says, then goes back to licking at the piercing and around the head, and down the shaft. All the while Buck is moaning and squirming. It shouldn’t be so over-stimulative but it’s been so long… he hasn’t— not like this— not since Tommy. “Missed you; missed this…” Tommy says between licking down Buck’s cock and sucking the tip into his mouth, which only seems to make it so much more sensitive.
Buck’s toes curl as Tommy takes him all the way down. And, God, how he has missed that. Buck whimpers and lets his hands move up into Tommy’s curls; messing them up, sure, but he doesn’t care. Tommy bobs his head, making sure to flatten his tongue and let the ball rub over Buck with every slide down and back up, and it feels just as amazing as Buck remembered— it feels even better, actually.
Tommy moves Buck’s legs further apart so he can settle on the bed more. He flicks his eyes up to meet Buck’s and smiles around his cock, lining himself up so the ball goes over the hoop. It’s— well it’s mind blowing…
…at first.
Tommy gets a little too into it.
Probably due to the completely wanton noises pouring out of Buck’s mouth. He slides down all the way to the bottom, presses his tongue against the underside so the ball is pressed into the tender skin and starts to slide back up. He reaches the hoop… and somehow the ball just pops through it.
Buck thinks he’s really just thankful Tommy caught the mishap immediately… without trying to pull off— so fucking thankful.
“Uhh…” is all Tommy can manage. He holds himself up with one arm and brings the other up to try to get a finger in his mouth, to the where they are quite literally linked together. He can’t.
And just like that… Buck’s pride in his size disappears.
****
Tommy tries to move his tongue, ever so gently so he doesn't tug at the ring, but it’s useless. He wants to cry. He looks up at Evan… who is looking down at him… and looks terrified, and he can’t shake his head so he just sighs. “You have got to be joking… Tommy, what do we do?!”
Tommy knows what they have to do… and he knows Evan knows what they have to do.
“We can’t! Tommy, Maddie is at work! What if she takes the call?” He waits for a second like he’s expecting Tommy to answer, he can only blink back. “A- And I’m in the 118’s district… oh my god…” Now Evan looks ready to cry, and Tommy can’t even properly hold him about it. He runs his hand up Evan’s side, hoping it does something to soothe him. “Maybe if… if I can just get soft…” he suggests. Tommy shrugs, he doubts it but he doesn’t blame Evan for not wanting to call… this absolute disaster… in.
So they wait.
And wait.
And wait…
Drool starts to pool in Tommy’s mouth and he tries to swallow it as carefully as he can. His throat spasms, and Evan hisses, and Tommy makes a wounded noise by means of apologizing. To make matters worse, not that Evan’s erection had gone down much sitting in Tommy’s mouth… but the tightening of his throat from swallowing definitely didn’t help. They are doomed, he fears.
He looks up at Evan and tries to lighten the mood with a smile, and Evan manages to smile back, before dropping his head to his pillow and letting out a pitiful sob.
Tommy knows they can’t sit here forever. He taps Evan’s leg and points to Evan’s pants that are the closest to the bed. Carefully they shimmy together, over to the edge, until Tommy slides off the bed, stretching out his leg to pull the pants over to him. He sits himself on his legs and pulls out the phone. Evan still seems hesitant so Tommy grunts around him and puts the phone in his hand.
“Okay, fine.”
Thank you, Tommy thinks and sighs. He slowly moves his tongue, still trying to find a way to pop the ball back through the hoop, but it’s just no use. He brings an arm up and uses it to prop up his head, and listens as Evan types in the dreaded numbers.
He puts it on speaker and rests his body back on his free arm. “9-1-1 what is the location of your emergency…” Tommy watches Evan inhale deep and let out a long drawn out sigh. He gives his address, and immediately the dispatcher gasps. “Buck?”
“Hey Josh…”
****
“What's going on, are you okay?” Josh asks, eyes flicking up to look at Maddie who is in the middle of her own call and hasn’t yet heard her brother's name.
“Well… define okay.”
“Do you need medical assistance? I can send your team—”
“No!” Josh’s mouth snaps shut at the urgency in Buck’s voice. “Not— Not them… and Josh… please don’t tell Maddie you’re talking to me.”
Josh glances back up at Maddie, and sighs. “Okay…” he says slowly; quizzically. “So what’s going on?”
“Me and Tommy are stuck… together.” Josh waits for more, but his first panicked thought is that there has been some accident at Buck’s loft.
“A- Are you— either of you hurt?”
“Not… exactly. Just stuck.”
“Like… in the elevator?” Josh pries, since Buck is giving him very little information.
“I wish…” Buck groans, and Josh hears a muffled snort. “No, we're inside my apartment.”
Josh tries to run through where they could be stuck in the small loft… He comes up with nothing, And Buck has gone silent. “Okay, look… I have no idea what’s going on, or how to help you, so I’m going to need you to give me a little more details beyond just ‘We’re stuck’.”
Nothing— Nothing!!— could have prepared Josh for what Buck just blurts out next.
“Tommy’s tongue ring is stuck through my dick ring…”
Of course that’s the moment Maddie decides to look up at him. Her brows furrow and she mouths what’s wrong? Josh is pretty sure he resembles a deer in headlights, and he might have forgotten how to speak beyond a startled, “Oh…”
There’s a pause and Buck speedruns Josh through a quick explanation of what has happened, that Josh can only mmhmm back too, biting his lips between his teeth to stop them from curling upward and trying to figure out exactly how to word this in the notes to whoever he sends to… help. (33 and 40 year old males. No serious injuries. Unable to come to the door… prepare to be scandalized— he doesn’t add that last part)
Maddie is still just staring at him with a progressively getting more worried look. Finally she takes her earpiece off and starts towards him. Shit… he thinks, then quickly sends the 133 with a final note that an ambulance will possibly be needed. “What’s going on, Josh…” Maddie asks, looking at his screen. She immediately recognizes Buck’s address, gasps and grabs Josh's earpiece. “Buck?! Buck, are you okay? Are you hurt?”
Josh watches the voice recorder from the call and it doesn’t move. “M- Maddie listen…” he tries, and reaches for the earpiece back; Maddie slaps his hand in return.
Her eyes frantically move over the screen, furrowing as she tries to decipher what the notes could mean. She comes to the unit responding, and scoffs. “Why would you send the 133, Josh… the 118 is closer!” And Josh can do no more than run a hand down his face, and continue to bite back the laugh that has been threatening to break free since Buck explained the actual situation. “Buck I’m sending the 118 to you… everything’s going to be okay.” Her mouth pulls down into a worried frown. “Are you there? Can you please say something…”
****
“Th- Thanks Mads…” is all Buck can think to say.
Tommy’s eyes widen, and he finds Buck's hand to hold it.
“What’s going on…” Maddie continues to press. “Is— is Tommy with you? Is he hurt? Buck, do I need to go there?”
“Please, no!” Buck cries out. “I’m… fine. It’s fine. We’re— we’re fine. R- Right Tommy?” He squeezes his eyes shut realizing Tommy can’t agree.
He does manage a garbled “Uh huh,” though… (To which Buck hears Josh snort then quickly clear his throat.)
“I, uh… I’m gonna hang up now…” Buck says, then before Madie can say anything he adds, “I swear I’m— we’re really okay. I promise.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yeah, I— I’m sure…” he tells her, hangs up and throws his head back with a loud groan. Tommy sighs around him and moves the hand propping up his head and rubs at his jaw, reminding Buck of the reason Tommy never drags out his blowjobs. “Fuck! Tommy your jaw,” he says, and moves Tommy’s hand to rub over the spot himself. “A- and your knees have to be killing you!” Tommy shrugs and leans his face into Buck’s hand. “Is this at least helping,” he asks; Tommy cocks a brow, and his lips curl up into a smirk. “Oh my god… blink once for yes twice for no,” he groans, laughing only when Tommy blinks once.
Which brings them back to the present. Bobby yells that they are coming in and the only silver lining is that Bobby has a key so they don’t have to break his door in. Something taps Buck’s leg and it’s his phone that Tommy has typed up a message on.
pocket knife. cut off my tongue. I’ll go out the window.
That startles a laugh out of Buck… which is immediately followed by a pained hiss from them both. The front door opens and Buck groans. “Up here…” he says, and they both listen as the entire team— hell it sounds like the entire station— files in.
Tommy whimpers when Chimney calls out, jokingly asking if Buck’s decent, and grabs the blanket to pull over his head.
“Alright Buck what’s… going… on…” Bobby says, first to get up the stairs— his worried look melts away and is replaced by something akin to absolute horror, which Buck 100% gets.
“What on earth…” Hen gawks as she comes up behind Bobby.
Buck feels like his face is about to catch on fire, and Tommy hasn’t moved since covering his head— so he has either convinced himself if he doesn’t move they can’t see him… or he has died.
“Is that Tommy?!” Chimney blurts out, looking around Hen and Bobby, who both slowly turn and look back at him.
Chimney shrugs. “What? I can appreciate nice features without it meaning anything, thank you very much.” He moves past her and gestures at Tommy’s backside. “And when you got it you got it…” Tommy makes a choked off noise— so, at least that means he’s not dead…
“Wait so is it really Tommy?” Ravi calls from the bottom of the stairs. Buck doesn’t answer… which is enough of an answer in and of itself.
Bobby turns back to Buck, rolling his eyes at the others. He sighs. “Okay, what exactly is going on here, Buck.”
Before he can even think up a decent answer, Tommy twitches, stiffens and then pulls his hand up to scratch at his nose. He grunts, and takes a deep breath, and Buck watches in horror as it finally clicks what exactly Tommy is doing under the blanket. “This has got to be a prank,” Hen says, pulling off her glasses and covering her eyes. “Buck… tell me this is a prank.”
Tommy continues to squirm and finally while holding his nose to suppress it, he sneezes. Buck yelps and Tommy mumbles incoherent apologies. The loft falls completely quiet; all eyes are now on him, waiting for an explanation.
His phone rings first, and he expects it to be Maddie… but it’s Eddie— and he doesn’t need to deal with that— so he sends it to voicemail.
Then Tommy’s phone starts to vibrate down stairs. “Ignore it,” Buck instructs when Ravi asks if he wants it brought up to them.
About a second after it stops, Chimney's phone rings and he answers without hesitation, putting it on FaceTime.
“Oh… oh my god!” Eddie gasps. “You two didn’t…” he sounds like he’s crying and sucks in a breath. “You two idiots didn’t… did you?!” Buck glares at Chimney, but he is unfazed, turning the camera for Eddie to see them. “You did!”
“I’m so lost,” Chimney says, looking at Bobby.
Hen is still covering her face and shaking her head.
“These two—”
“Eddie…” Buck pleads— but really… What's the use in hiding details? “Whatever…” he groans and turns his eyes to the ceiling, and Eddie shares what he knows.
And apparently, he knows everything.
So Buck wasn’t the only one who went to Eddie about his impulse body modification. Tommy had told him too— he texted Eddie after learning of his move to El Paso, and it just slid its way into the conversation.
“How did you even find out about this?” Buck groans.
“Josh told me.”
“Oh, but he couldn’t tell us so we knew what we were about to walk in on…” Hen says bitterly.
“And since when do you and Josh talk?” Buck adds.
“That is my business,” Eddie quips back. “You all have fun with… yours.” He wiggles his fingers at them, laughs again, and ends the call.
Chimney and Hen give each other strained looks, both clearly trying to hold it together. Bobby takes a deep breath, resting his hands on his hips and stares down at Buck. “Okay well we— we need to get you two… separated—” His lips tremble and he tries to stop the laugh but it bubbles out anyway. That's all the motive Hen and Chimney need to both double over. Even Ravi is laughing down stairs.
Tommy makes a pained noise and Buck knows he has to be hurting from sitting like this for so long. “Yeah, yeah… laugh it up. Can we please figure out how to actually do that?”
“Well we have to see what we’re dealing with first,” Hen says, grabbing the blanket without warning and lifting it up. “Oh my god…” she nearly chokes, and has to walk down stairs to compose herself.
Yeah mortification was definitely not a strong enough word.
It only takes the team five minutes to get them separated— Buck is sure it will take a lifetime to live it down.
****
“Are you sure you don’t want to go in and get checked out?” Bobby asks; Tommy just shakes his head and puts his hand over Evan’s, where he is holding a frozen bag of peas against his jaw. “Alright,” he gives them both a smile— it looks more uncomfortable than when he was given the medal of valor at the ceremony. “You, uh— you two…” he looks between Tommy and Evan. “Well, I’m glad you… worked things out.”
“That’s one way to describe what happened here tonight,” Chimney says, smiling smugly at the both of them.
Hen comes up beside Tommy and lays a hand on his shoulder. “I think it’s safe to say you can definitely keep up.” Tommy slowly lifts his eyes to her and she can’t hold back the laughter. “Maybe a little too well— you might wanna slow down actually.”
“Uhm, what— what does that mean?” Evan leans in and asks; again… Tommy just shakes his head.
Ravi hands Evan the little baggie the two rings were put in once they were removed. He doesn’t say anything, and just leaves. He pulls the door shut behind him, and then they are left alone, embarrassed, and sore in their respective affected areas.
Evan holds the bag up and sighs. “That was… something.”
“Yeah…” Tommy laughs, finally feeling like he can move his jaw again without it popping. “Next time, maybe we don’t go with the ball and hoop combo.
“N- Next time?” Evan furrows his brow but his lips are already curling up at the corners.
Tommy shrugs and grabs Evan’s hand pulling it to his lips. “If I have learned anything lately… it’s the importance of giving things another chance…”
Evan’s smile widens. “Wow. That was— just wow...” he laughs and pulls Tommy into a kiss; he winces when just the slight movement hurts. “I’m sorry about your jaw, and your knees.”
“I’m sorry about your… frenulum,” Tommy replies and Evan snorts. “Now I can’t finish what I started…”
They both pout at that… for just a moment. “Yeah, b- but… my jaw doesn’t hurt,” Evan says with a suggestive smirk. “And your dick doesn’t hurt…” He bites his lip and tugs on Tommy’s hand to stand him up.
“This is true…” Tommy states.
“So maybe we can finish what we started after all…” Evan leans in and brushes his lips over Tommy’s then turns and heads for the stairs, Tommy right behind him, and the silver hoop and tongue ring left behind on the table for next time.

hi this is weird but like I’ve been on a avatar kick and just finish legend of Korra and wanted to know if you could do a bolin x Male waterbender who’s best friends with Korea and she encourages it but reader is oblivious to the pinning
Plans without planning

Summary: Bolin has been trying for months to put his big boy pants on, thankfully he has the sand to help him. Pairing: Bolin x Male reader Wc: 1.8k A/n: maktaaq- whale skin and blubber and suaasat— a soup made out of either seal, whale, caribou, or seabird meat
Dressed in soft blues that blow in the soft breeze that seems to live in the Air temple, you peel an orange with an ulu in the same manner Bolin had watched you cut maktaaq countless times before. Eating a slice, you huff while picking at the skin. It’s just not the same.
A vacation, Korra had promised this would be a vacation. But you couldn’t see water for miles and you refused to eat meat within the temple; something you’re sure Tenzin would approve of but you were sure you were going fruit and vegetables mad. There were only so many times you could eat a salad before you were done with greens for the rest of your life.
“I know right,” Bolin forced a laugh as he sat next to you, running his hands nervously up and down his legs. “Men like us need meat!” He raises a fist, faking being angry. You chuckle, sparing him a glance before looking off towards the clouds. He beams, red dusting his face when you laugh at his joke.
You think Bolin’s funny. He’s a lot of things, but you like that he’s funny. Coming from a family of sticks in the mud he’s like a breath of fresh air. Not to mention he’s the nice type of funny, he’s never mean with his jokes. He’s also so kind, and gosh, again, coming from a family of sticks in the mud who were hell-bent on making a family of damn near bodybuilders, you’ve never really had someone speak so kindly around— and at— you before.
Plus, he’s jacked.
A silence falls over the two of you while you offer him half of your orange. He takes it with a thank you and looks towards the clouds. He gulps and nibbles on it, unsure if he should start a conversation. He probably should, right? He looks at you again, chewing on his bottom lip while trying to think of something to talk about.
Bolin thinks you’re scary, so his ideal type. He won’t go too into detail about his type because honestly, as long as he thinks the person could absolutely wreck him, he’s going to fall head over heels for him. He likes that you’re a little softie, though. In the confines of rooms, isolated from the rest of the world you’re a bubbly guy. You like his jokes, a whole lot. He remembers one time you didn’t stop laughing until you nearly passed out.
He’s a naturally chatty guy, he never stops talking really.
But his mind is running blanks, what could he possibly think to say? You’re so… ugh! And he’s so…eh! Shaking his head, he clears his throat and you start to look at him when the door behind you gets thrown open.
“There you guys are!” Korra shouts and you look behind you while Bolin jumps, shouting that he wasn’t doing anything. You glance at him, a little confused before turning your attention back to Korra. “Oh, was I interrupting anything?” She grins, a hand now on her hip. Her other hand flickers between the two of you and you shake your head, smiling over at Bolin who nearly melts under your gaze.
“Having a manly talk about eating meat,” You grin, tossing up the orange peel. She catches it and lights it on fire while you roll your eyes. Show off. “Why?” Her eyes widen when she remembers why she’d ventured all the way up there and she smiles, playing with her arm cuff.
“Oh, Asami wants to go to the beach—“ Your eyes twinkle at the mention of a beach. Water. Glorious, amazing water.
“Say less, Korra. Let's go!” Jumping over the chair, you rush out to go and change into your swimming trunks while Korra’s gaze slowly shifts to Bolin. She raises her eyebrows and sighs, head resting on the frame of the archway.
“I know!” He cringes, covering his face. “I’m trying— I am!” He swears, still covering his face.
“Really? It’s been three days and still you haven’t made a move,” This whole trip was some elaborate plan he’d come up with and begged Korra and the others to go along with. Mako didn’t really care, he tried not to involve himself in his younger brother's love life and Asami was always down to leave the city.
Korra on the other hand. If the word involved could become a person; it would become her. She’s been telling him all your favorite things, your least favorite things, and ways that would totally get him to win you over. Not to toot her own horn but she’s quite the matchmaker— she got her and Asami to date, after all.
“I will,” He promises. “Why don’t you guys give us a moment on the beach?” She nods, looking over her shoulder. Just making sure that you aren’t there.
“I’ll see what I can do.”
—
“You ever built a sandcastle?” Bolin asks while he’s already knee-deep in sand and you’re letting the waves roll over your legs. You’re enjoying the water like a fish that’s been above the surface for too long.
“I built plenty of snow castles. Never a sandcastle,” You shake your head, turning your body so you’re fully facing him. He gasps and shakes his hands, unable to contain his excitement. You smile at his excitement, eyes darting down to your sand-covered legs as a crab runs across. You flinch and shoo it away without him noticing.
“I love sandcastles! You just need a bit of water and a bit of sand and… boom! A masterpiece is born!” He explains. “And it doesn’t just need to be a castle, you can make anything!”
“Can we make…” You trail, thinking about something. “A snowman?” He nods and you agree, collecting water while he runs to get a bucket. When you look around you find that the others had since walked to the other end of the beach. You can only imagine they’re having another heated conversation. Mako is probably saying something annoying or stupid. Or both.
When Bolin returns, you drop the water and the two of you start working. They’re very… not great attempts at a sand snowman but Bolin says they’re cute and you’re inclined to agree with him. Eventually, the two of you make an entire army of them, covering a good part of the beach before you both settle in the sand.
“You got really good,” He notes, looking at the progression of the sculptures. His didn’t. At least by comparison. He was rushing the whole thing and if he was being honest, definitely wasn’t paying attention to anything but you the entire time.
“Thanks! Yours are nice too,” You raise a hand, pointing lazily at his tilting sand snowmen. “They really capture the feeling of a melting snowman.” At the compliment he beams, red covering his face in a way that isn’t a sunburn.
“Yeah, because they’re all bleh when they melt!” He laughs, mimicking a snowman dying in the sun when he says bleh. You nod, laughing alongside him.
When the shared laughter dies down, you look for Korra and the others. It’s been hours since you’ve last seen any of them. Hopefully, they didn’t get into a fight or something.
“Korra?” Bolin asks, following your line of sight. You nod, pushing hair out of your face as you turn back to him. “They’re probably trying to out-swim each other or something. Korra mentioned she’d be back around sunset!” He lies through several stutters, unable to look you in the eyes.
But you take his words at face value and nod.
There’s a silence that falls over the two of you and Bolin runs his hands up and down his sandy legs. Again, he has no idea what to talk about. There are a million topics he possibly could but… he can’t remember any of them right now.
He looks at you, eyes quite literally sparkling before he sees Korra a distance away. She’s making wild gestures before she huffs and grabs Asami, kissing her before pointing at Bolin and then you. He flushes and looks away with a clearing of his throat.
“You’re cute in this light,” You smile and he jumps, turning to you with eyes blown as wide as saucer plates.
“Wha-what?” He asks and you chuckle, looking him up and down with a slow flicker of your eyes.
“It’s just… you look nice with the sun on you like that.” You shrug, your fingers digging into the sand.
“You always look nice,” He blurts, sitting on his legs and your eyebrows raise at the sudden burst.
“Thank you?” He nods, hands moving wildly again as he talks.
“Like this one time, when you tried out pro-bending, and you made the waterfall over the opposite team and we got disqualified—“ You cringe at the memory but he shakes his head. “It’s okay. But you looked so good doing it. And then when you were sick and I offered to make you soup, you looked nice standing in that blanket.”
“I had snot running down my nose and puffy eyes, Bolin,” You laugh.
“Well, yeah, but still.” He shrugs. “You’re always cute— handsome— whatever!” He rushes out.
“I didn’t know you thought that about me,” You admit, sitting up and wiping your hands free of sand. “Is that why Korra kept insisting we shared a bed back at Zaofu? With Suyin?”
“Maybe,” He meekly nodded, settling back into the sand. He huffs, looking up towards the sky. He guessed this was a good time; probably the only chance he’d get again to actually follow through with his plans. “I’ve been trying to ask you out for five months! But I keep getting all tongue-tied and nervous. And then there was that time with Mako— he ruined the whole thing.”
“Really?” You ask, scratching your cheek. “I would’ve said yes.” You admit, standing up. It’s getting late and you really don’t like the feeling of the wet stand on your legs.
“Wait really?” He smiles and you nod, looking towards the water and then back at him.
“I thought you knew, I gave you half of my last suaasat. Not even Korra gets that privilege.” He scrambles up and holds your face for a long moment. His eyes dart between yours and you smile at him.
“Are you going to stare at me or kiss me, Bolin?” You tease and he shakes his head, clearing his thoughts.
“Kiss, definitely kiss.” He leans in, eyes closing and you lean in. Your nose brushes his for just a second before your head tilts a little, pulling him in. Once your lips touch you hear cheering from behind you and laugh while Bolin pulls away, joining in on the cheering.
Shouting, he picks you up and you cling onto him, not used to people lifting you so high up.

Can I request a story/headcanon about how Thorins company/ specifically Kíli would react if (fem) reader got her hair braided by her (non dwarf) friend, and it was just a friendly thing, but the dwarves thought it was a courting braid?
Pairing Fem!Reader x Kíli
Thank youu🫶💗

Mission of Misunderstanding- Kili x F!Human!Reader
Shout-out to my girlies in the unbraidable hair community lmao 🤝 Warnings: one minor swear lol, a couple suggestive remarks
One more step and your feet were going to fall off. Surrendering to the burn, you all but fell down onto the log, tilting your feet so only your heels rested upon the earth. A sigh escaped your lips and you didn’t even move when the rustling sounded at your back.
A familiar voice spoke your name. Bilbo. “Are you quite alright?”
“Yes, my friend,” you breathed, “so long as you don’t count anything below the knee. Or my hair. Can’t imagine how much dirt and leaves have gotten in it after all that.”
"Well, yes," Bilbo chided, ever the little mother-hen, "you've got to keep it back. Why don't I braid it for you?"
Your heart burst, and not from exertion this time. "You would do that for me?"
"Of course," the hobbit shrugged, "haven't had much practice of it of late, but certainly I can give it a go for you. I understand. I wouldn't want the mess either. Come here."
Thanking him again, you scooted closer to where Bilbo stood, gritting your teeth for the pain of him detangling your hair, only to relax at the gentle touch of his nimble fingers. Eyelids fluttering shut in contentment, you sat as Bilbo worked his magic neatening your hair up and making fresh braids of it for you. Feet still elevated and aching, but less so the longer you sat off of them. When the hobbit pulled back with a quiet, still-focused finished, your first instinct was to reach up around your head, touching the new set of braids with a widening smile.
"And now it shall be free of my face! Truly, thank you, Bilbo!" Pulling him into a quick hug, you vowed to repay him somehow with a teasing final statement. "Since I doubt you want me to braid yours."
"That is quite alright, thank you," he chuckled, "let's head back to camp before Bombur chases us down, eh?”
Camp was nearby, and still sparsely populated as you approached it. Bofur and Bombur were there building a fire, and Thorin stood a ways aside having a conversation with Balin. Dwalin and Gloin sat playing a game with a rock as their table, and Ori sat knitting. The others, you presumed, were hunting, saddling ponies, or else getting attention from Oin. Thinking nothing of it you sat down again, this time near Dwalin and Gloin, asking who was winning and if they were taking bets just to laugh at their responses. Bilbo helped Bofur and Bombur get set up for dinner a few feet off, propping up sticks strong enough to hold the cooking pot.
Sure enough, the rest of the company began trickling in, Oin, Bifur, and Nori first, the latter two with poultices and bandages. You winced. Perhaps you should complain less about your feet. Next up came Dori and Fili, who each carried one half of a felled deer, shot clearly with one of Kili's arrows. The younger prince had a bag in hand, likely having won whatever silly game determined who got the lightest load. Smiling and meeting his eyes, you gave a quick wave, indicating your amusement at the game behind you with your eyes.
Kili smiled back and waved, then swiveled his head away and back again in a double-take. You found yourself frowning as he averted his gaze to help his brother, blinking as you wondered what that was about. All you'd done was say hello. Not even say, really. Did he think you were making fun of the others?
Perhaps it was nothing, but considering your feelings for the prince, it was everything in your mind. Cycling ideas began overtaking your brain like mist. Had he suspected malice of your joke? Had he simply heard something? Why had his expression shifted so? Maybe he was just worried by what he heard.
~
"What did I miss while we were gone?"
At Kili's words, Dwalin simply frowned, peering at him like he'd thoroughly lost his marbles. "What do ya mean, lad?"
"Did...did anything happen?"
"Took Gloin for a right fool on the card table," the older dwarf replied with a smug look, chest puffing and shoulders widening.
"No," the prince shook his head, "not with you, with..."
Despite the way he trailed off, Dwalin gave him a knowing smirk, crossing his tattooed arms. "Ah, I see," he nodded, "not with me, not with me at all. With the lass, eh? Why, she didn’t greet you with a kiss?”
Having an older brother really steeled one to teasing. Much as Kili wanted to fight, to protest and say oi, quit that or I’ll make you, he knew it was exactly the rise Dwalin would’ve wanted to get from him. Beside the other fact that his elder could kick his ass easily.
“‘Course not,” he replied nonchalantly as he could, “I just noticed someone had braided her hair was all.”
Even Dwalin had cause for surprise at that, dark eyebrows shooting up to his metaphorical hairline. “Just since this morning?”
“Yeah,” Kili replied, trying not to sound as deflated as the words made him feel, knocking the air clean out of him now that he’d said them out loud, “thought maybe you’d seen who did it.”
“Hadn’t even crossed my mind, but I think it was like that when she and Bilbo headed back to camp.”
“Bilbo?” He’d lose to a three and a half foot…grocer? “Well now, I’d not have expected that, eh?”
“I can tell ye don’t actually want to laugh, son.”
Sighing, he finally let himself deflate. Bilbo? You and Bilbo?
~
“I hardly see them talk that much. Do you?”
“Not nearly enough to warrant a marriage. Those take time.”
“I know, Fee.”
“Spark.”
“I know.”
“And I thought you two had it. Not even just saying that because you’re my brother. You know I’m honest with you. The only reason those two would have is both feeling like outsiders, and that hardly seems cause to f-”
“Thank you, Fili, yes. Perhaps I was just wrong. Perhaps she could never have loved me after all. She wasn’t my One.”
“Now, brother,” grabbing him by the cheeks with one hand, Fili pulled his younger brother’s gaze to meet his, “not so hasty. Have you talked to either of them yet?”
“Wasn’t ready,” he mumbled, shaking out of the squishing grasp.
“Well, perhaps you should. Knowing is pain, yes, but it is also the thing that keeps us going in the end.”
Kili dropped his gaze thoughtfully before meeting his brother’s eye again, smiling faintly. “Remember our old espionage days? Maybe it’s time we had another mission.”
“Alright,” Fili nodded and smiled, “for old times’ sake.”
~
“Well hello there, Master Burglar.”
“Whatever it is, I won’t fall for it.”
“Now, now, so dry and for what?” Fili wrapped an arm around the hobbit. “I was just wondering how you you were coming along with…a certain member of the company.”
At that, the hobbit’s face crumpled in disgust. By Fili’s reckoning, Master Bilbo seemed barely interested in romance and certainly not with any of the types he currently ran with. He needed someone more doilies and dishcloths and the lot. You may have been the closest to his type, but still far too much of an edge, far too much indeed.
“I beg your pardon?” Bilbo simply replied.
With a conspiratorial wink, Fili leaned in and whispered your name, glancing back to the hobbit’s eyes, which narrowed slightly. Suspicious.
“Uh, w-well I would say,” Bilbo stuttered, shrugging lightly, “well as we could be, all things considered.”
“All things considered?” Fili’s grip tightened a bit. “There are things to be considered?”
“There are plenty of things to be considered!” The burglar shot back. “Why, is she upset with me? Last I heard, she liked the braids and I made her feel much more comfortable. Have I done something today?”
Blue eyes closing to near-slits, Fili released his grip entirely, arm falling back to his side. “Did she ask you to arrange her hair?”
“She complained about it,” Bilbo replied, shimmying in his newfound freedom and using his released arm to slide his pack closer, “so I offered to do something about it. Can’t imagine that is much of an outrage…oh. Oh, good heavens! No! Oh, no. No. She could be my daughter, who on earth sent you over here to…?”
Blonde brows raising, Fili’s head shot back in surprising hard enough to send his mustache braids swinging. “Wait, so you do know about courting braids?”
“Gloin was just telling me all about his,” the hobbit replied, freezing in place even in spite of his awkward, hunched-into-his-pack-hands-deep posture, “neither of us thought a thing about it. Privately I was hoping she and Kili would do whatever it was to get the tension out there, you know?”
Fili did know. He knew, all right.
~
“Psst! Psst! Hoo! Hoo! Caw!”
Kili’s head snapped up at the sound, dark eyes meeting his brother’s fair head popping from the scraggly bushes surrounding camp. One gloved hand waved wild beckoning at the younger prince. Rising from the rock he’d sat down on, one with a strategic view of some conversation between you, Uncle Thorin, and Balin, Kili strode to the edges of camp.
“Reconnaissance successful,” his older brother hissed.
“What?” Jaw dropping, Kili felt his hands leave his chest and clench in surprise. “That was fast. Nothing for me to do?”
“Not true, brother. Not true at all,” Fili smiled, “your part is far more important. You have to go talk to her.”
With a sigh, Kili nodded despite the heavy clunk of his heart in his chest. All the childhood playtimes were nice and all, but at the end of the day he had to be a dwarf about things. Face his fears, just like Uncle Thorin and his father and even Fili.
“You’re right. Though I dread it in my heart, I must speak to her. Even if my love is never known.”
“I wish you the greatest of luck,” Fili patted his shoulder, smiling eagerly, “and trust me. She won’t do a single thing to hurt you. I know it. Alright?”
Another nod. “Alright.”
Inhale, exhale. One step, then another. It was hard sometimes. Putting on the bravado. Fili was always so capable and Uncle had high standards. Not that he shouldn’t, but…it just got easier to act unafraid of everything. In truth, there was much Kili didn’t understand. Much he feared. Perhaps even his own heart, and that was why he had allowed himself to play games with it for so long. No longer, though.
Crunching across the dry campsite ground, he marched up to you as your conversation ended and asked to speak with you, frowning slightly at the nod Balin and Thorin exchanged. Focusing instead on your gaze, the way your eyes were intent in his and the-admittedly quite adorable-way shock bloomed across your face before giving way to a smile and a nod.
“Of course,” you said, and that was that.
How was it that one little smile from you could simultaneously calm Kili's heart and set it leaping like nothing else? There truly was no denying that you were special. Perhaps Bilbo had seen what was so dazzlingly obvious, too. Guess that wasn't too much of a shock.
You both ventured toward the tree line, stopping next to a particularly sturdy trunk. Eagerness was written across your face as you leaned against the smooth bark, encouraging Kili with a smile he couldn't help faintly mirroring even as tears swam in his eyes.
"Are congratulations in order?"
"For me?" You asked, head tilting and hand reaching to your chest. "Forgive me, but what are you asking? I thought maybe I'd upset you last night, but now I really fear it. Or are you teasing me again?"
All thought was scrubbed from Kili's brain at your words, a thick blanket of confusion draping over the prince's mind and furrowing his brows. Is this what Fili meant? Were you not to hurt him because you thought him cross with you? That hurt a bit in and of itself. Perhaps you'd known he would be jealous. But then again, you had greeted him so casually, giving him a cute little wave when he came back...
"Please," he all but begged your name, "the suspense is just killing me. Is that not a courting braid you've been given? I know it is new as of yesterday."
"Is that why you looked so perturbed? Courting...courting braid? Kili," you laughed, "my hair was full of sticks and leaves and all manner of muck, so Bilbo detangled it and got it out of my face for me! Bilbo could be my father!"
Still a bit shaky, but Kili's face surrendered a smile at the teasing smack you gave his upper arm. "Oh, forgive me for being a dwarf," he shot back, "I was hardly the only one who noticed."
"But you were the only one who was jealous," you teased him back, "is that not right?"
Kili could tell by the faltering smirk you gave, by the dart of your beautiful eyes, that you did not truly believe it, but by Mahal, you would when he was done with you.
"Madly," he agreed, eyes boring into yours, "never let anyone but me braid your hair again."
Eyebrows shooting up to your hairline, you peeled yourself from the tree as if to get a closer look. "Kili..."
"I mean it," he implored your name once more, gently taking your shoulders in his hands, "please. This isn't a joke, but if you'd like me to convince you..."
Surging forward, Kili closed the gap between you two, his lips soft against yours and stubble pleasantly tickling against your skin, which shifted as you moved in response to his kiss. Your hands found purchase in his hair, tangling in it and eliciting a sound Kili was too focused on you to be embarrassed about. When you finally pulled away for air, he pulled you back, resting his forehead against yours with a growing smile.
"So, you convinced?"
Your eyes glittered with mirth, joy, mischief...perhaps even love, and Kili knew he should have never doubted you were his One. "So convinced I practically want you to rip out all of Bilbo's work and do it over again yourself."
"You don't have to tell me twice."

She is Heaven
Leah Williamson x Cowgirl!reader
Warning:Heaven is out of reach and you can’t blame anyone else but yourself
The roar of the crowd at the CMA festival was almost drowned out by the pounding of your heart. You'd never been to Nashville, never been further east than South Dakota, but here you were, all because of Mitch and his rodeo star girlfriend, Dakota. You shuffled through the throngs of cowboy hats and rhinestones laughing at locals trying to fit into the cowboy narrative, the air thick with the sweet tang of barbecue and spilled beer.
Mitch had given you your pass to the VIP section just behind the sound desk, flashing your lanyard you walked up the steps letting out a breath you didn't even realise you were holding in, you turned looking at the other people that had gathered in the section your eyes flicking around for Mitch or Dakota when your eyes landed on a small group of women laughing before turning as Mitch placed his hand on your shoulder "Hey, you good Oakley." you turned fully facing him "Yeah all good." Mitch had been calling you Oakley as long as you could remember refusing to call you Y/n, you were Oakley to him only to him after Annie Oakley a famous female gunslinger.
You were broken from the conversation by the sound of the three women walking past you and exiting the VIP section, your ears seemed to prick up at the sound of the unfamiliar accent, but the world seemed to go quiet as the taller girl turned her blue eyes catching your greenish gold ones.
"My God she's gorgeous." you thought to yourself.
The festival was in full swing and you were sipping a beer talking to Mitch about his upcoming rodeo gig in California when you felt a tap on your shoulder, You met the same blue eyes you had locked with a short while ago before your eyes drifted to her lips as she started talking "Hi, would you mind taking a photo of us please." You handed Mitch your beer wiping your suddenly sweaty hands in your jeans before reaching for the phone in her hand mumbling out a small sure.
"Alright saw cheese." you smiled at the screen as the three women wrapped their arms around eachother saying a loud cheese as they smiled for the photo.
You smiled at the taller girl as she said a soft thank you taking the phone before you began speaking, your Montana twang thick in the southern air, "that accent's somethin' else. Where you from?"
The woman smiled, a smile that could light up a rodeo arena. "England. I'm Leah." you outstretched your hand shaking hers "I'm Y/n."
Your knowledge of England extended as far as tea and the Queen, but Leah's accent, when she spoke to you, sent a shiver down your spine. It was melodic, a complete contrast to the twang you were used to. Hesitation warred with curiosity. You weren't exactly known for your social graces – you were more comfortable wrangling a stubborn steer than making small talk. But something about Leah propelled you forward.
"England, huh? That's a long way from Nashville." you drawled, trying to sound nonchalant despite the butterflies erupting in your stomach.
Leah, seemingly unfazed, laughed, a light, tinkling sound. "It certainly is," she admitted, her eyes sparkling. "I'm here with my Nan and cousin for the festival."
"Cool, that there is my best friend, Mitch, we're here to watch his girlfriend play it's her first major festival." Leah smiled "Wow, what's her name." God her accent was something else "Eh Dakota, Dakota Jones." Leah's eyes seemed to shine "No way, no way we love her."
A smile bloomed on your face, a genuine one that crinkled the corners of your eyes. Maybe Nashville wasn't so bad after all. "Well, you'll get to see her then, she's on next!" The music thrummed through the ground, a contagious beat that made you want to tap your boots. You glanced at Mitch, who was busy chatting with a group of cowboys, then back at Leah. "You guys should stick around, you might even get to meet her."
Leah's smile widened the kind that seemed to reach her eyes. "That would be amazing! Like I said we're huge fans." Her enthusiasm was infectious, and you found yourself wanting to share Dakota's success with them. "Come on, then," you said, gesturing towards the open chairs near Mitch. "Let's get you settled in for the show."
As you led them over, you stole a glance at Leah. The way the stage lights twinkled in her hair, the way her eyes sparkled with excitement – it was like something out of a dream. You weren't sure what it was, but there was definitely something about this English girl that made your heart skip a beat.
As you reached Mitch, you introduced Leah and her companions, a petite woman with a kind face who you assumed was her Nan, and a bubbly blonde you learned was her cousin, Jordan. Mitch, ever the charmer, greeted them with a southern drawl that had Leah and Lily giggling, "Don't mind him he's as southern as the state of Wyoming." Leah laughed at your little dig.
The conversation flowed easily, filled with questions about rodeo life from the wide-eyed English girls and tales of your Montana ranch from you. You found yourself captivated by Leah's stories of quaint villages 1000s of years old, a world far removed from your own.
"So what do you do for a living then?" You asked taking a swig of beer. "I play football," Leah answered nonchalantly with your eyebrows "Football, they have girls football in England." Leah laughed "Yeah like soccer, I play soccer only in England we call it football." Football? Soccer? You furrowed your brow, completely lost. "Like...kicking a ball around?"
Leah laughed again, a sound that was starting to feel dangerously intoxicating. "Something like that, yes. Though it's a bit more complex than that." She gestured towards the stage, where Dakota had just appeared on. "This is quite the experience, though. The music, the energy, it's electric."
But even as the crowd roared and the lights pulsed, you couldn't help but steal glances at Leah. There was a connection there, a spark that you couldn't quite explain. And as Dakota's powerful voice filled the arena, you knew this trip to Nashville, with all its twists and turns, was going to be one you wouldn't soon forget.
As the night began to draw to a close you found yourself feeling anxious over the thought of never seeing Leah again, "How long are you here for." Leah sighed "Not long I'm afraid we came just for this and i have to be back in England by the end of the week cause I'm heading into another England camp."
Your stomach clenched. A week. It felt like mere seconds since you'd locked eyes with Leah across the crowded VIP section, and already the thought of her leaving felt like a punch to the gut.
"England camp?" you repeated, hoping to buy yourself some time to process the information.
"Yeah," Leah explained, her smile dimming slightly. "I play for the national team. We have a big tournament coming up."
National team. Wow. You weren't sure what was more surprising – the fact that Leah was a world-class athlete, or the fact that you, a simple ranch girl from Montana, had managed to strike up a conversation with her.
"That's incredible, Leah," you managed to stammer, forcing a smile.
"Thanks," she replied, her gaze lingering on yours for a beat too long before glancing away.
You had only just met this girl, but the thought of her flying halfway across the world and never seeing her again felt earth-shattering.
An awkward silence descended, broken only by the faint sounds of roadies dismantling the stage and the distant chatter of departing festival-goers. You stole another glance at Leah, catching the flicker of disappointment in her eyes. Was she feeling the same way you were? A crazy, exhilarating hope bubbled up within you.
Mitch, sensing the shift in mood, nudged you playfully. "Well, Oakley," he drawled. "Looks like it's time for us to head back to the hotel. Long drive tomorrow."
You shot him a grateful look. Mitch always knew how to read a situation.
"Yeah, you're right," you agreed, standing up a little too abruptly.
As you said your goodbyes, Leah's hand lingered in yours a touch longer than was strictly necessary. Her blue eyes held a hint of something you couldn't quite decipher, a mix of sadness and a spark of something else entirely.
You stole another glance at Leah, hoping to catch her eye. Maybe, just maybe, there was a way to stay in touch. But her head was bent over her phone, fingers rapidly typing a message. Disappointment gnawed at you, but you forced it down.It wouldn't be fair to get ahead of yourself.
As you said your goodbyes, Leah's smile returned, a hint of something warmer in her eyes. "It was lovely meeting you,Y/n," she said, her voice dropping to a soft murmur. "And good luck to Dakota, she was amazing."
"Thanks, Leah," you replied, your voice thick with unspoken emotions. "You too. Enjoy your camp."
As you walked away with Mitch, a part of you ached with the thought of leaving Leah behind. Yet, another part, a more hopeful part, clung to the memory of her lingering gaze and the way her voice had softened when she spoke to you.
Maybe, just maybe, this wasn't goodbye. Maybe, despite the miles and the vast differences in your worlds, this Nashville encounter was just the beginning of something special.
Oh who were you kidding this was the closest you had ever gotten to heaven and you didn't even ask for her number to stay there even for just a short while longer.

Hi! Glad that the requests are open! Happy late Thanksgiving Day!
What about a Cybertronian Buddy with Wolverine's abilities? You know, retractable claws, healing factor, enhanced senses? Looking tough as nails, yet a big ol' overprotective softy? That would be a great addition to your collection of Buddies!
Oh, you can make Buddy (him) to take a special liking to the Team Prime kiddos (TFP)
Hope you have a good day!
P.S.: the name's Casey. Your writing is awesome!)))
Hi there Casey! And a Happy Late Thanksgiving to you too!
Hope you enjoy!
Bot Buddy who is like Wolverine
SFW, Platonic, Mention of injuries, Cybertronian reader
TFP
Buddy was one of the last outliers to join the Autobots.
There used to be other outliers around, not a lot but enough numbers to notice.
Now as far as he could tell, Buddy was the last one left.
The bot was a peculiar outlier.
Most outliers had just one thing that set them apart from the average bot.
Buddy had a multitude of abilities.
For one, his frame seemed to mend even the deepest of stab wounds.
Something very unusual for a Cybertronian
Buddy stares unbothered by a large slash across his chassis. Bumblebee: “Are you okay?!” Buddy: “Eh.” Bumblebee: “What do you mean ‘Eh’!? You need a medic!”
Buddy’s servo’s had retractable ‘claws’, something he made as his signature weapon on the battlefield.
They could slash through some of the hardest and densest metals know to Cybertron.
Buddy: “Hey Screamer! You want to see my servo transform?” Starscream gets the birdy. Starscream: “What is—ACK!” Buddy leaps to the Seeker and tries to slash him with the birdy. Starscream: “How dare you—WILL YOU STOP DOING THAT! I DON’T EVEN KNOW WHAT YOU’RE DOING!”
But probably one of the most uncanny ability Buddy could do was sense danger.
He didn’t have a scanner or and readings, he just knew something was going to come and it wasn’t friendly.
Buddy suddenly stops in his tracks. Helm finals twitching and tensing. His optics go wide. Buddy: “GET DOWN!” Tackles Bulkhead out of the way of incoming missile attacks. Buddy: “BULKHEAD GET YOUR BLASTED FENDER OFF THE GROUND AND RUN!”
The bot arrived on Earth shortly after most of Team Prime made it to Earth.
It took some time to get adjusted to team life once again, but it came just in time for the arrival of the kids.
Now, Buddy had already shown a bit of a soft spot towards Bumblebee in the beginning.
But no one thought much about it, everyone had a soft spot for the youngest bot.
With the children around, their fellow guardians were a bit worried about what Buddy’s reaction would be.
The bot wasn’t too found of humans after some had egged him in his alt mode.
The kids felt a bit uneasy seeing the bot glaring at them for a couple of days.
Jack: “Hey Arcee, what’s going on with… umm… him?” Arcee looks where Jack gestured. Buddy was brooding in the corner while buffing some old dents out. Arcee: “You mean Buddy?” Jack: “Yeah… why has he been all… what’s the word?” Miko pops up next to him. Miko: “Brooding? A Stick in the mud? Looking like a Con double agent?” Bulkhead: “Miko! Buddy isn’t a spy.” Miko: “Could have fooled me.” Arcee: “Buddy is just like that Miko. He’s actually been better these past few days.” Jack: “This is better? I’d hate to see him on a bad day.” Bulkhead: “Buddy’s been in a good mood since you guys showed up now that I think about it.” Miko: “Ha! Yeah right! He probably wants to kick us for being around.” Arcee and Bulkhead recall Buddy carefully holding a sleeping Raf, looking so stressed because he didn’t know what to do and didn’t want to wake him up. Arcee and Bulkhead: “Sure…”
Jack and Raf had no problem with the grumpy bot.
Buddy had attempted to bond with them after awkwardly asking if they wanted to join him on a drive so they wouldn’t be couped up in the base too long.
Buddy was parked in an empty lot letting Raf and Jack eat a bit in his alt mode. Jack: “You seriously don’t mind?” Buddy: “I don’t see the problem.” Raf: “Thanks!” Buddy: “… Just try and not to eat anything glittery or those spicy chips.” Jack: “What’s wrong with spicy chips?” Buddy: “The smell stays on the seat for days and I’m not exactly too fond of that.”
Miko feels like he targets her in particular.
Buddy always seemed to be around the corner whenever she tried to do something deemed ‘Mischievous’.
He has absolutely no problem scolding the girl for doing things she wasn’t supposed to do.
Buddy has Miko in his servo. She is kicking and tries to get out of his grip. Buddy puts her down and crosses his arms. Buddy: “What in the name of Alpha Trion where you thinking!?” Miko crosses her arms. Miko: “I just wanted to help!” Buddy: “By what!? By running into the groundbrigde all willy nilly, head first straight into battle, provoking STARSCREAM of all bot! WITH A ROCK! Are you trying to get yourself terminated!?” Wheeljack and Bulkhead try to step in. Buddy sends them a glare. Buddy: “No! You are not saving her this time! She needs to know there are consequences for these kinds of actions!”
Yes, they butt heads a lot.
Miko is convinced that he hates her.
Buddy doesn’t, he just worries for her safety as the human with the least amount of self-preservation.
Bulkhead does take some time to defend his teammate and friend.
Buddy had lost a lot of bots he considered family, he just didn’t wan this new one to go up in flames either.
The girl does tone down the aggression a bit and starts leaving doodles for Buddy to find.
Buddy acts like he throws them away.
… But a little yellow bot told her that he keeps every picture in a special drawer in his habsuite.
You have no idea how much I want to give this Buddy a Deadpool partner! I need to start thinking on ideas!

Might As Well Just Fuck
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/fe993698ad1a0fed171f49c758411fa3/26169794a647a2a4-19/s540x810/fff5863837b0b4896eec2fb1a426ccbab3be0118.jpg)
you and alex shag after his football game
warnings: smut, piv, public sex
word count: 2.5k
You sat on the sidelines of the college football field, pretending to watch the game but your eyes never strayed from Alex. Your Alex. The boy who had captured your heart and inflamed your desires. Aly, as you called him. But just in private, not around anybody else.
The way you couldn’t get enough of each other was almost embarrassing. It had gotten so bad that you had to sneak out at night just to find some privacy, cause neither of you wanted your parents to hear you fuck. So you usually ended up in the local park. Yeah, the fucking park, in the middle of the night.
But right now, your private fantasies had to wait, as you focused on the field where Alex was running around with his mates.
He was a sight to behold. For you at least. And hopefully only you. His green t-shirt clung to his body, drenched in sweat, outlining every muscle. The colour of the shirt highlighted his skin and dark hair, which was sticking up in all directions from the effort. He had this casual, messy look that drove you wild. His shorts, maybe a size too small, kept riding up his thighs every few minutes, revealing glimpses of the soft skin on the insides of his thighs. Each time they did, he’d stop, readjust them, only for them to ride back up again. It was like a teasing game, one you were more than willing to play.
You couldn’t tear your eyes away from him. The way the muscles in his legs flexed as he ran after the stupid ball, the sheen of sweat making his skin glisten in the fluorescent lights that lined the field, the blush on his cheeks from the physical exertion. It was all too perfect.
Occasionally, he’d even lift his t-shirt to wipe the sweat off his face, and you’d catch sight of his toned abdomen, the lines of his muscles slick. The sight made you squirm in your seat. The sweat dripped down his chest and his pecs were flushed. You wanted to touch them, lick them, suck on his nipples. He loved that.
The game dragged on, and you found yourself growing more impatient by the minute. Watching Alex was both a blessing and a curse. He was so close yet so untouchable. You were already getting tired of just looking and not being able to feel him.
Thank god a whistle blew, signalling a short break. You watched as Alex jogged towards you, a grin spreading across his face. His hair was damp with sweat, sticking to his forehead, and his shirt clung to his body. He looked irresistible.
Without warning, he bent down and kissed you, more like sticking his tongue down your throat. The intensity made your head spin, your hands instinctively grabbing at his sweat-slicked shirt. His hands roamed over your back, pulling you closer, deepening the kiss until you had to pull away to breathe.
Everyone around was already used to the two of you. They didn’t care. Not really. But they still liked to tease sometimes.
“Oi, Alex!” one of the boys called out, laughing. “Get a room, mate!”
Alex pulled away just enough to yell back, “Eh, fuck off!” His voice carried the perfect blend of humour and irritation. Then he turned his attention back to you, his classic smirk plastered across his face.
“Are you bored already?” he asked, his voice a low murmur that sent shivers down your spine. His breath was hot against your lips, and you could feel the heat radiating from his body.
“I like watching you.” you said, but he could see right through it. He knew you too well.
“Wanna shag after?” he proposed, taking a seat next to you on the bench. He snatched the water bottle from between your legs and took a long drink, his Adam's apple bobbing with each gulp. A single drop of water escaped, trailing down his chin to his neck.
“What? Here?” you asked. The thought of doing something so bold, so reckless…Fuck. Could he be done already?
“Why not?” he replied, a mischievous glint in his eyes. He leaned in close, his breath hot against your ear. “I know a spot. No one will see.”
You felt a rush of adrenaline. The idea was crazy, but…It’s not like it would have been the first time you did it in public. His eyes sparkled with that familiar daring look. He didn’t have to try and convince you.
“Okay.” you whispered.
He grinned, giving you another quick kiss before standing up. “Just wait. I’ll be quick.”
You watched as he jogged back to the field, your heart pounding. The anticipation was almost too much, but you knew it would be worth the wait. You tried to focus on the game, but your mind kept wandering to the thought of Alex’s hands on you, his body against yours. Time seemed to slow down, each minute stretching into an eternity. You watched him move. Every glance he sent your way made your pulse quicken, your skin tingle.
Finally, the game ended. Alex’s team was celebrating a win, but you had eyes only for him. As the final whistle blew, Alex wasted no time. He jogged over to you, his face flushed, hair still wild, and a satisfied grin on his lips. The closer he got, the more you noticed the details: the way his t-shirt was completely soaked through now, clinging to his torso. And his shorts were still annoyingly riding up, giving you one last peek at the smooth skin of his inner thighs.
“Ready?” he asked, his voice slightly breathless, but still carrying that playful tone that made your heart race.
You nodded. He took your hand, pulling you to your feet, and led you away from the field. The others watched with knowing smiles, but no one said a word. This was your moment, and nothing was going to stop you from seizing it.
He led you to a secluded spot behind the bleachers, hidden from view. As much as possible anyway. He turned to you, his eyes almost sparkling from the adrenaline, and pulled you into his arms.
The kiss that followed was a clash of heat and urgency, a desperate mess of lips and tongues. His hands roamed over your body, igniting every nerve, every inch of skin. You clung to him, your fingers digging into his back, pulling him closer.
“Here?” you whispered, your voice breathless, your body trembling.
“Here.” he confirmed, his voice a growl of need. “Right now.”
He started grinding against you, the hardness of his erection pressing insistently through the thin fabric of his shorts. You could feel every contour of him, the heat and firmness driving you wild. His hands squeezed your ass, fingers slipping inside the back pocket of your jean shorts. He pulled out a condom, a small metallic packet that you always kept handy. Just in case.
He fumbled with the button of your shorts, cursing under his breath. “I hate these. They never cooperate.” he muttered, frustration evident in his voice as the button resisted his efforts.
“You said they make my ass look good.” you teased.
“Yeah, they do.” he said, a dirty smile curling on his lips. The compliment sent a shiver down your spine, but you couldn't wait any longer. As he struggled with the button, you reached down and pushed down his shorts along with his underwear, just enough for his hard cock to spring free.
Your hands were shaking with anticipation as you tore open the condom packet and positioned the rubber at his tip. With ease, as you’d done many, many times, you rolled the condom down his length, feeling the tension in his body as you did so. He was thick and ready, every inch of him throbbing with need. You couldn't help but admire the way he looked, the way he felt. You could barely contain your own need as you touched him.
You grasped his cock, feeling the smooth, velvety skin beneath your fingers through the thin latex. He hissed through his teeth, his jaw clenched, struggling to keep quiet. The sensation of your hands on him was almost too much combined with all this pent up energy he had in him, and he had to bite his lip to stop from making any sound that might give you away.
His hands continued their exploration, one slipping beneath the waistband of your shorts to caress the curve of your ass, while the other worked on the stubborn button. With a final tug, it came loose, and he swiftly pulled down your zipper. You felt a rush of cool air against your skin as he slid your shorts down, his fingers grazing your thighs.
“Ready?” you whispered, your voice barely audible, your breath hot against his ear.
“Always.” he replied, his voice a low growl, impatient.
He started to turn you around, positioning you for what you both knew was coming next, but then he hesitated. ”No.” he said, “I wanna see your tits.”
His hands moved up, brushing the sides of your torso, before cupping your breasts through the tight, thin material of your top. You could see the intensity in his eyes, locked onto the way your nipples poked through the fabric. Hard. His thumbs brushed over them momentarily. Unable to resist, he pulled up your top just enough for your breasts to pop out from underneath. He grasped them in his hands, his touch firm, his fingers kneading the soft flesh. He played with your nipples, rolling them between his fingers, pinching lightly, watching your reactions with a hunger that mirrored your own.
“You’re so fucking hot.” he murmured. He continued to massage your breasts, his eyes glued to the way they moved under his touch, the way your body responded to him. You could feel the heat pooling between your legs, the ache growing unbearable.
“Aly, just fuck me already.” You looked up at him, your eyes pleading, your body aching for his touch.
His eyes darkened at your words, a growl rumbling deep in his chest. He wasted no time, his hands leaving your breasts right at that second. With a sense of urgency, he fumbled with your panties, pulling them to the side. The fabric resisted, snapping back into place, but he persisted. His fingers hooked under the thin material, tugging it aside until it finally stayed put, giving him the access he needed.
He gripped your hips, lifting you slightly to align himself with you. You guided him to your entrance, the tip of his cock, hard and throbbing, pressing against you. He paused just for one more moment, hands gripping you tighter and his eyes locking onto yours before he pushed inside you slowly, savouring the sensation of your bodies joining. You gasped, your fingers digging into his shoulders, holding on as he filled you completely.
“God, you feel so good.” he groaned, his voice strained. He began to move, his thrusts steady and deep, but too slow. Too slow for the circumstances you were in.
You wrapped your legs around him, pulling him closer, urging him to go faster, harder. He responded to your silent plea, his pace quickening, each thrust more urgent than the last.
“Harder.” you begged, your voice a desperate whisper. “Give me more.”
He grunted in response, his body tensing as he increased his efforts. His thrusts became relentless. The sound of your bodies slapping together filled the air, skin sticking and rubbing, the sweat making you slip from his grasp at times only for him to grab you harder.
His fingers dug into the backs of your thighs, the pressure so intense it bordered on pain, but you didn’t care. The pleasure far outweighed everything else, his hard, urgent movements driving you closer to the edge.
“Fuck.” he growled, the sound vibrating through you. “You make me want to fuck you all the time.”
He pounded into you. You could feel the tension building inside. You could hear him too, his breath heavy and laboured, his groans growing louder despite trying to stay quiet, his movements becoming more erratic as he neared his own release.
“Please, don’t stop.”
“I won't.” he promised, the sound coming out more hoarse now. “I won't.” And he didn’t, driving into you with everything he had.
You felt the need for release intensify, and knowing he couldn't free his hands to help, you slipped a hand between your bodies, your fingers finding your clit. You started rubbing circles over the sensitive spot, the added stimulation being all you needed.
His eyes flickered down, watching you touch yourself, the sight making him groan even louder. The combined sensations of his relentless thrusts and your fingers on your clit brought you closer to the edge.
“Oh god.” you gasped, your movements on your clit becoming faster, more frantic. “I’m so close.”
“Me too.” he breathed, his voice tight with need.
Your fingers moved faster, pressing harder against your clit, the pressure building to an unbearable peak. You felt yourself shatter, the orgasm ripping through you. Your body clenched around him, waves of pleasure washing over you, your nails digging into his shoulders as you held on.
He felt you come, your body tightening around his cock, and it pushed him over the edge as well. With a deep groan, he thrust into you one last time, his body shuddering as he found his own release. You could feel him pulsing inside you, the condom filling with his warm release. His arms trembled from the effort of holding you up, and he couldn’t manage it any longer. You struggled to keep yourself on your feet, your legs shaky and weak.
“God, that was…” he trailed off, unable to find the words, his forehead resting against yours.
“Yeah.” you whispered, your voice still shaky, a smile tugging at your lips. “It was.”
He quickly discarded the condom, carelessly throwing it to the ground, and then pulled his clothes back on with hurried, shaky movements. You fumbled to pull your shorts back on, the fabric sticking to your sweaty skin, your fingers trembling. He noticed and helped you, his hands steadying you as he fixed your top, pulling it down over your breasts.
You both stood there for a moment, catching your breath, the rush of the moment slowly fading. His eyes met yours, a hint of a smile playing at his lips. He reached out, brushing a strand of hair away from your face, his touch gentle now. “We should probably get out of here.” he said softly, glancing around as if suddenly remembering where you were.

Rody Soul: Crush
Fandom: BNHA // MHA — [ Masterlist ]
Summary: ~1.4k, fluff
• You knew Rody well enough to know he doesn't just disappear, but until he returns someone's gotta look out for his siblings.
Warnings: World Heroes Mission spoilers
>>>>——————————>
There was a reason besides job hunting that Rody frequented Stanleyk's Bar so often, and that reason was a part time bartender who surely had to be in today.
However, once more he was disappointed with your absence and apparently he hadn't hidden it well this time regardless of Pino.
"Your little crush is off working."
"I— I didn't even ask. Besides, I thought (Y/n) worked here."
"Only part time kid. (L/n) takes on jobs just like you." Both he and Pino fell into awed silence, they heard you lived in one of the nicer residences in Shanty Town with little threat due to your renowned fighting ability, but to know you were contracted too? Wow, no doubt higher ranked than him considering you were away for longer periods.
"Bonjour! I'm back~" Gladly you entered, greeted by a soft pelt nuzzling into your neck, cooing affectionately despite Rodys' chiding outburst.
"Oh hello Pino, aren't you beautiful today."
"Congratulations, the contact was very pleased with your work and have requested your services at a later date." Stanleyk bluntly interjected, usually he received only positive feedback on any job associated with you.
"You get requested?!"
"Yeah, more elite clientele tend to stick with trusted confederates. It's just how they work, casual clients don't mind who they get as long as they suit the requirements." Came your experience-infused reply to Rody, reaching into your bag with renewed brightness. "Here, souvenirs for your siblings."
Rody had only introduced you to them once over the years and he hated that you were so thoughtful. It was hard not to develop a stupid crush on you even if he'd deny it to his last breath. Luckily you both had a withholding deal that prevented the disclosure of quirks. It annoyed him that yours was a secret but it was a worthwhile sacrifice when he realised he was attracted to you early on - and Pino had no shame in expressing that. You'd connect the dots way too fast for his liking.
That was your last interaction and you'd never gone so long without an encounter together before this - so knowing his address, and noting his delayed return, you knew something was awry.
When you'd brought up the matter to Stanleyk, he'd relayed a call he'd received and immediately you'd raced over to Rodys' home. Roro and Lala were cautious when you'd knocked but recognised you upon mention of their eldest brother and were glad for the company.
Days passed and you'd opted for short-term jobs which allowed time to cook for them, play with them, and tell any bedtime stories you could conjure all whilst dozing on their corner seating area once the pair fell asleep. Although, with the impending bomb detonations and inevitable death that followed, your babysitting gig got harder.
Soon enough, you found out Rody was in the hospital after apparently putting an end to said calamity.
When you'd taken the worried Soul duo to visit him, you found Pino flapping about Rodys' siblings with vibrant joy whilst they hugged their bandaged brother. You assumed the other patients were the heroes he'd fought alongside, the green haired one being the most gracious toward your presence. It was then Pino awkwardly fluttered around you, unsure of what to do with herself and blushing fiercely meanwhile Rody offered a charismatic smile.
"Hey (Y/n), thanks for looking after my family whilst I was away, Stanleyk told me you took quicker jobs to check on them."
Before you could respond, Roro and Lala excitedly chimed your praises.
"Yeah (Y/n) cooks way nicer food than you!"
"And tells the coolest bedtime stories!"
"You— you did all that?"
"Eh you know, I have to balance certain aspects of my life with good deeds." Immediately the little pink bird was in your arms embracing what she could - to which Rody rapidly pulled her away with an embarrassed mumble.
Once visiting time was over, you all bid him farewell, leaving Rody with a knowing Midoriya.
"Does (Y/n) know about your quirk?"
"Nope, we have a deal."
"I see... which means they don't know how you feel—"
"Not another word! I don't have the confidence to tell them alright, you've just seen how beautiful and amazing they are..." It was a friendly exchange, and though chuckling Izuku gave his support.
"I think you should be honest about your feelings, after all you just saved many lives worldwide Rody. This shouldn't scare you."
Meanwhile outside the hospital room, you were experiencing the same revelation in a different form.
"That's why you came to check on us, because you're big brothers' partner?" Roro hummed in thought, Lala way too giddy with the information even if you were thoroughly confused.
"Where did you get that idea?"
"Rody is in love you." Roro cemented, shocked you were apparently unaware.
"I don't think—"
"Yeah just look at Pino. She's always nuzzling and admiring you." There must be some miscommunication here.
"What's that got to do with Rody? If anyone loves me then surely it's Pino." You happily laughed, assuming this was just a child's' fantasy and thought you were playing along with it.
Their puzzled expressions had you second guessing though, then came their matter-of-fact enlightenment.
"Pino is Rodys' quirk. You know that right?"
No you did not, you thought she was a pet.
"She expresses exactly what Rody is feeling, making it impossible for him to lie!"
It suddenly all connected, why he came to visit on your shift days and how affectionate Pino had grown to be with you - warmly greeting you every time she saw you, fretting over any injury, tackling you, and flustering whenever you touched Rody. That was how he truly wished to communicate with you?
"Hey, I just need a minute, wait here." Obviously the pair did so with gleeful grins upon their faces as you dashed back into the room. The heroes seemed perplexed, especially when you pulled the curtain around Rodys' bed stating you wanted to see his injuries without children around.
He was equally as confounded, and this time you didn't miss the flourishing Pino despite the contrasting coolness her owner exhibited. You sat on his bed, staring him dead in the eye before you broke his very soul with your whispered question.
"Rody, are you in love with me?"
There was a flush of colour on his cheeks, but without another second to think he smirked casually and leaned closer to you.
"If you've fallen for me (Y/n), it's okay to confess, I won't judge."
Pino however, crash-landed in embarrassment with a white feather of submission waving above her demonstrating the answer you'd desired.
"I see, thanks Pino."
"Wait— you know, crap who told you?" The charade was up and the pure horror finally set in.
"Yeah, Pino shows your true emotions right? So what happens if I do this?"
You matched his previous false confidence, leaning closer with only centimetres between you that allowed you to feel his warm breath brush your lips. He didn't retract though, and so you closed the gap, Rody more than willing to kiss back when gentle fingers reached up to your jaw and a melodic chirping emitted from Pino as she soared though the air right over the curtain and around the room as if she was set aglow.
You pulled away slightly, amused by the display even if your opposite was heavily embarrassed - still, you moved in to kiss him again leaving Pino to enjoy the moment.
"Would ya get that damn bird to shut up already?!" It was the voice of the explosive blonde which fractured the fantasy, excusing yourself once opening the curtain with plausible cover.
"I'll stock some bandages for the wounds ready for when you get back. See you!"
———
Life seemed to resume to normal with both of you giving up the shady lifestyle, whilst you quit your position at Stanleyk's Bar to pursue your true passions, Rody in turn ended up getting employed there.
You spent nights over with the Soul family, even if it meant sleeping on the corner couch, Rody always ensured to cook you breakfast. He listened to your bedtime stories with a dreamy look on his face, and when his siblings fell asleep came to join you prior to heading to bed himself.
You'd gifted him pilot books, and you became a feature drawing upon their wall, all the while both of you saved to improve life for the better.
"Hey, if you need a flight attendant oh future pilot captain, may I apply early?"
Just then, Pino held a wing over her heart and promptly fainted whilst Rody ran a hand through his hair.
"Actually, I'd rather you be my copilot so we could always fly together..."
“Is that your idea of a proposal Rody?”
“Wha— not yet! I haven’t saved enough to buy you a—“
“I meant a job proposal, what were you thinking?” Your witty tone left him slumping begrudgingly in his chair and briskly swiping Pino before you could see the classic engagement proposal position she’d admiringly taken.
“Ah, of buying you a pilot manual too if you want to fly with me. That’s all.”

Love you all. You are appreciated and your are worthy. Treat yourself with care. 💖
You shiver as the night air swirls round you. You keep your arms crossed as you lean forward to watch the twigs crackles at the bottom of the flames. The metal ring constrains the fire, smoke furling up to the stars with the smell of cinder. You sink your teeth into your lower lip, a groove stamped there from your constant gnawing.
You sit, silent and still in the lawn chair. You don’t dare speak or move again. The smell of dirt clings to you as the scrapes on your legs burn. You clasp your hands around your upper arms and chatter again.
You wince as the shadow next to you moves. Sy’s been just as quiet. No, he’s The Captain now. He stands with a sigh and strips off his flannel shirt. He drapes it over your shoulders. His sweat cloys from the fabric. You keep your head down and gulp.
“Thank you... Captain,” you eke out.
You tug the shirt around you even as your skin crawls. You’re freezing. You shift your legs and the tug on your ankle stills you. It isn’t a reminder of your reality because you can’t forget that. There’s no escaping it. No getting away from him.
You stare at the rope knotted above your foot. Aika kept you down as The Captain tied it. He didn’t need her help. You have nothing left in you. Only shame. You might not have asked for any of this but it’s all your fault. It’s all because of your own poor choices.
As The Captain sits back down, the rope bristles in the dirt. He holds the other end, wrapped around his thick fist as he watches the fire next to you, petting his loyal dog with his other hand. You languish in that tableau, waiting for it to break.
You can’t help but wonder about him. He’s a soldier. You try to piece together why he did this. Why he is the way he is. Something horrible must have happened to him. Yet, you can’t forgive everything he’s done. It might be an explanation but it can’t be an excuse.
You don’t know why you care. He’s a villain to you. He’s picked apart your whole life. Infiltrated it and shattered it right before you.
Your breath wisps out sharply as he stands again. You peek over and let your lip pop free of your teeth. It sticks out in a pout as you watch him. He stirs around on the folding table and takes one of the long sticks there. Plastic crinkles and the impales a large pillowy shape; a marshmallow.
“Good night for smores,” he comes back to you, the rope looped around two of his fingers. He could untie you. He’s won. He knows it. “Don’t let Aika snatch it from ya.”
Despite his attempt at humour, his voice his vacant. You’re both just biding time. You take the skewer and turn it in your hand. You cough as he looms over you.
“Thank you, Captain.”
He clucks and backs up. He returns to the table. More crinkling as he fumbles around. You hold the marshmallow to the flames and watch the outside blacken. That’s how you feel. Ready to melt.
“Eh!” He exclaims and grabs the skewer as the marshmallow catches alight. “Careful! Don’t wanna burn yourself, sweetie.”
You can sense the rigidity in his words. He wants to sound like Sy but his cadence is that of a commander. What he says, he wants heard; obeyed.
He tosses the burnt clump of sugar and pokes a new one onto the end. He roasts it himself, precisely so that it doesn’t singe. He turns back and squeezes it between the crackers and chocolate, sliding the gooeyness free before offering it to you.
You’re not hungry. Your insides are in turmoil. You can’t deny him. You take the sandwich, another obedient thank you as you do. You consider it. Your stomach churns.
You bite into it and the oozing middle drips onto your hands. You cup one under your chin to catch the mess and let out a squeak. You chew and pull it away, the insides dripping onto your palm. You glance up as the Captain remains right beside you, watching you.
You lick your sticky lip and swallow. You hum, an unconvincing ‘yum’. “Really good,” you nearly choke.
“Mm, is it?” His face is consumed in the darkness as he stands with his back to the fire.
“Yes, sir,” you answer.
He stares down at you. You force yourself still as he reaches for you. He drags his thumb along your chin, “got some here.”
He trails up to your lip and over it, shoving his thumb into your mouth. You gasp as he drags the pad of his finger over your tongue. Your eyes widen as you stare up at him. He pushes deeper, pressing down as you cradle the cooling sandwich.
“Suck it,” he snarls.
You murmur around his thick thumb. What choice do you have? You press your lips around him and do as he says. He turns his hand to grip your chin as he keeps his finger in your mouth. You suck as he groans.
“That’s it, sweetie. You gonna be a good girl for the Captain, aren’t you?”
You stop and blink. Your terror surges and your eyes brim hotly. You gulp as your lips tremble around him.
“The Captain can be good to you,” he slowly pulls his thumb free. “Finish that.” He points to your handful of cracker and slop. “Then I’m gon have some dessert of my own.”
You dip your head down and your tears flow over. There’s no mistaking what he means. You shakily pick at the mess in your palm and try to scrap up the chocolate and marshmallow with the gram cracker shards. He watches you as he toys with the end of the rope.
You peek at Aika. No leash for her, only you. She’s entirely unaware as she lays and listens to the distant waves. Or she might not know any better for her owner’s behaviour.
You choke down the last of the sickly sweet glop. You hold out your sticky hands helplessly. You want to vomit it all back up. You might just do that once he has his way...
Oh god.
“Come on, sweetie, I’ll get ya cleaned up,” he yanks the rope and your foot kicks out at the subtle force.
You don’t say a word. You rise and the rope goes slack. There’s just enough for you to take small steps without slipping.
Aika sits up on her paws and he speaks to her in that mysterious language. She puts her head back down and stays as she is. You walk away from the fire, shrouded in the weight of The Captain’s shadow.
He takes you inside. The old bulbs glow amber and almost thrum in their effort to stay lit. He leads you down to a narrow doorway and takes you into the kitchen. He removes the flannel shirt from your shoulders and folds it on the counter.
He brings you to the sink and cranks it on. It whines before spitting out water then chugs noisily. He holds your hand under as it scours your hands coldly.
“Water heater is lit...” he mutters and does his best to scrub your hands between his large ones, the rope tucked into his belt haphazardly. It’s only a symbol now, he knows you’re not going anywhere.
He shuts the water off and dries your hand with the coarse cloth hung from a hook. You move numbly, only to his whim as the strength drains from you. He takes you out of the kitchen and down the hallways. He gets behind you as you approach another door.
You stop short as you see the outline of a bed. Only the light from the hallway seeps in through the door. He collides with your back as you stare. He drops the rope entirely and grips your shoulders instead. He walks you forward.
You lock your jaw to keep from hurling up the smores. The saltiness of his skin is still stained in your mouth. He urges you towards the bed and spins you to face him. He nudges you until you sit on the mattress.
He lumbers away, the floorboards creaking under him, and there’s a crackle over you. The single bulb hung from the ceiling sends a weary haze over the space. He approaches you again.
You stare at the front of his shirt. The jagged letters of the band’s name blur together. His hand moves beneath your vision, a subtle snap as he frees the large hunting knife from its sheath. Your gaze moves to the blade. You quake as you brace for the incision.
He doesn’t speak as he angles it towards you. He cuts the straps of your halter top. You mourn it in a moment of foolishness. It’s easier to cling to those small things in that moment. He slices up the sides and peels it away, exposing your bikini top.
He spreads his hand across the top of your chest and pushes you onto your back. You go limp as you recline on the lumpy mattress. He makes quick work of your denim shorts. The rope chafes on your ankle as it dangles freely.
He tugs free the shorts and drops them with the remnants of your shirt. You lay prone and unmoving. He puts the knife on the table near the top of the bed and steps back. He bends and unlaces his boots. You stare at the cobwebs in the corner.
As he nears the bed again, you don’t react. He drags your weak body up and around so your head is propped between the pillows. He climbs up on his knees, legs wide as he sits on his heels between your legs. He reaches over his head to tug off his tee shirt.
His furry chest puffs out, bigger than ever. Each time you look at him, he’s bigger than the last. His arms bulge as he whips the tee behind him and his pecs strain. His stomach is thick with muscle and a layer of excess that doesn’t detract from his physique.
He reaches for you and you swallow a whimper. He hooks a hand under you and makes you sit up. He takes your wrist and guides you to touch his hairy chest. You wince as your fingers twine into the coarse hair. He looks down at your hand as he forces you to caress him. You comply and rub your fingertips against his skin.
He purrs, or growls, he sounds like an animal. He pulls you onto his lap as he shifts to sit on his rear. You don’t resist. He reaches around your nape and tugs on the string of your bathing suit. It untangles easily and the cups fall away from your tits.
He shivers out a breath and brushes his fingertips over the curve of your chest. He traces along you tits and circles your nipples, his touch growing firmer by the second. He groans and cups you, squeezing as his cheeks dimple.
He bows his head as his other hand creeps up your back. He leans you away from him and you let your head loll over his knuckles. He nuzzles along your cleavage and his breath dampens your skin. He nibbles the swell of your breast and his tongue flicks around your nipple. You quiver as he seals his lips around the hard bud and suckles.
He curls into you as he fondles and sucks at your chest. You close your eyes as he leans with you and lifts you as he once more brings himself to his knees. He puts you on your back, flattening you beneath him as he continues to devour you.
You mop at your cheeks as your tears flow once more. You blink away the moisture wicking in your lashes and tilt your head to look down at the top of his head. Short hairs cover his shaved head and his shoulders round with his undefeatable power. His hand trails from beneath you and frames your hip as he groans and growls.
You cannot move. You’re stuck. Trapped. That fear that’s been simmering under the surface for days boils over and consumes you as he does. You surrender. To inevitability. To The Captain.

Summary: And the two of you were having such a nice day.
a/n: another lore fic but with bonus smut!! and family drama!! enjoy!!
~~~
When you awaken you’re surprised to see that it’s nearly noon.
Copia’s side of the bed is cold and you frown as you stretch and throw back the covers. Getting up, you pad to the kitchen, which is empty. You’re about to turn around and go get your phone when you spot a note on the counter written in a familiar decisive, loopy scrawl.
Amore,
Thank you for your candor and your affection, last night and always. I have a few things to see to this morning but when you are done getting ready (take your time!), meet me downstairs in the Papas’ kitchen - I’d like to pack a lunch and go for a drive. I will keep you in my morning prayers and hope that your sleep was as surprisingly restful as mine.
Ciao xx,
C
Your shoulders sag in relief as your heart swells - how funny the two of you both slept so well after such a harrowing late night conversation. You wonder if his dreams were anything like yours. With a loud yawn, you stretch once more and head back into the bedroom to get ready. Copia told you to take your time but you don’t want to leave him waiting too long and besides, you’re eager to see his face. Your morning routine runs efficiently and you select a short thin-strapped yellow floral sundress to wear after opening your window and gauging the weather. Grabbing your phone, your purse, and your keys you head out and down the stairs. When you approach the hallway leading to the Papas’ kitchen you can hear loud arguing in Italian. Hesitantly, you approach the doorway and knock against the frame.
“Morning, gentlemen.”
Copia, along with Secondo and Terzo, turn to look at you. When all three behold your outfit for the day all fighting ceases in order to coo and compliment you. You, however, are too focused on Copia’s outfit. He looks very priestly today in his black clerical shirt, slacks, and dress shoes and you can feel your face warm at the sight. Judging from the way his jaw goes slack at your outfit, he’s feeling the same way.
“Bella, look at you! All this wasted on il Cardinale, ah what a shame.”
You give Terzo a stern look and shove past him to go see the aforementioned Cardinale.
“Good morning, my love,” you murmur, kissing him once on the lips and once on the cheek, “Don’t listen to Terzo.”
“I rarely do,” Copia smirks and out of the corner of your eye you see Terzo make a rude gesture. Secondo snorts derisively as he slides a large basket across the island counter to you.
“For your picnic, piccolina,” he says, pointing to a loaf of sliced sourdough, a generous container of fresh mozzarella and basil, a jar of marcona almonds, and two bottles of aranciata rossa. You smile and stand on tiptoes to place a kiss to his cheek which again, has Terzo making a rude gesture.
“Grazie mille, Secondo,” you say, “No tomatoes with the mozzarella and basil?”
“With this one?” he scoffs, jerking his thumb towards Copia, “Never. Ask him to tell you about what Terzo did to him when we were kids.”
“Don’t remind me,” Copia grouses as Terzo chuckles sinisterly behind him, “are you eh, all ready to rock and roll, tesoro?”
“Whenever you are. Secondo, thank you so much, you’re the sweetest. Terzo…stay out of trouble, per favore.”
“I won’t make any promises,” Terzo comments airily, while sticking out his cheek for a kiss which you daintily apply. “Go,” he murmurs in your ear, his hand on your back, “enjoy your time away from here, huh? You and the rat deserve it.”
“‘The rat’ can hear you, figlio di puttana,” Copia growls, muscling in between the two of you with the picnic basket. You give the Papas a wave and you smile as you hear Secondo chastising Terzo on the way out.
“By the way,” you say as you walk side by side down the hall, “you look delicious today.”
Copia scoffs but his ears turn red all the same.
“If I didn’t know any better, amore, I’d say you have eh, a thing for men of the cloth.”
Now it’s your turn to go red but you still grin at him.
“Now why would you think you know any better?” you purr, reaching out to squeeze his ass. The act has him gasping in faux-scandalization.
“Amore, don’t start something you can’t finish,” he says as you approach the front doors to the abbey.
“Later, then,” you wink and the two of you cross the threshold to make your way to his car. It’s beautiful out, as you thought it would be, but as you slide into the passenger seat you clock thunderclouds on the horizon.
“So where are you taking me?” you ask as he pulls out and down the driveway.
“I know a spot,” he smiles.
“Oh?” you turn towards him and rest your arm on the back of the seat, “Take all your girls here, huh?”
That makes him laugh out loud.
“Only the very special ones. So that is to say no one but you. I used to drive out here when I first started living here so I could clear my head and get away from the clergy drama. It’s been a while since I’ve made it out here. Too many eh, obligations now.”
“I’m sorry,” you murmur, reaching out to stroke his hair, “You deserve more days off. I’ve always said you’re the hardest working person in the abbey.”
He smiles softly.
“Second-most employee of the month awards,” he says, puffing out his chest.
“Oh Cardinal,” you coo, “Competency is very sexy, I–wait, second? Who has the first?”
“Eh, some guy named Kevin. Or Jesus. Depends who you ask.”
The two of you travel in silence for another fifteen minutes before Copia turns down a dirt road. The car comes to a stop next to a small, grassy clearing and he puts it in park before slapping his thighs.
“Here we are,” he announces and you both step out. As you move further into the grass while Copia takes the basket out of the trunk, you note a picturesque stream weaving in between the large oak trees. You inhale deep - it’s been a while since you’ve been out in nature - and the myriad of scents and sounds refresh you.
“Beautiful, isn’t it?” he says, as he stands beside you. You nod and turn to take the blanket from him. You move closer to the water’s edge and spread it out, plopping down on the plush greenery. With a groan he takes a seat beside you and you begin doling out your meal. Your conversation is…lovely. Worlds away from the one you had in bed last night. You’re swapping childhood tales when you’re reminded of Secondo’s words from earlier.
“So what’s this thing with you and tomatoes?” you ask, popping an almond into your mouth.
“Eugh,” Copia says in between chews of bread, “Fucking Terzo. I don’t like raw tomatoes - never have. And yes I know, I know I make a poor Italian but when I was little, I don’t know maybe eight or nine, and Terzo was older - the right age to act like a little shit - he took a tomato from the gardens and chased me around the abbey with it. I was crying, he was laughing and when he finally caught me and smushed the tomato into my mouth I broke free, gagging. Before I could make it to the nearest bathroom I puked all over this ancient cardinal who had the misfortune of standing nearby.”
“Oh no,” you say, covering your mouth, “Copia that’s awful!”
“It gets worse,” he says, smiling despite his words, “This cardinal - his name was Carlo Udinesi - stood there filled with rage and told me, ‘you will never come to anything within this Ministry, ratto bastardo.’ He died not long after that. I remember his funeral and I remember wondering if my puke is what had pushed him over the edge.”
“Ominous,” you say with a laugh, “And not to bring up last night but very Damien Thorn of you, my love.”
“It was, wasn’t it? That’s where I got my tattoo from, you know.”
You tear into a piece of sourdough.
“I had wondered,” you smile, “Just chalked it up to you being a horror fan but I love it even more now.”
“It was a bit of both. Terzo convinced–”
You feel a large, heavy drop land on the back of your hand, followed by another, and another. As the two of you were engrossed in conversation you hadn’t noticed the storm clouds rolling over your heads.
“Shit,” you sigh, “we better pack up.”
Copia nods and stuffs the remainder of his piece of bread in his mouth, rising to his feet with you. Before you know it the sky opens up as you’re putting the food back in the basket.
“Cazzo!” Copia shouts as you ball the blanket up and he gestures for you to hand it to him, “Get in the backseat, I’ll put this shit in the trunk!”
By the time you make it back to the car and open the door, throwing yourself inside, you’re soaked. Copia joins you a minute later and slams the door, panting.
“Good thing you didn’t wear your paints today, huh?” you grin, “You’d have looked like a drowned raccoon.”
He reaches down and pinches your thigh.
“Very funny, amore. I think I would have looked eh, metal.”
“Oh I’ve hurt your feelings,” you murmur, “let me make it up to you.”
It takes some finagling but you’re able to pull yourself up and swing your leg over his lap to straddle him.
“Signorina, in the backseat?”
You smile wickedly.
“Mmhmm. Want you in the backseat like I wanted it New Year’s Eve on the way to dinner. Besides, how am I meant to resist when you look like this.”
Your fingers make quick work of the top few buttons of his shirt and his hands come to rest on your ass and squeeze.
“When I look like this? Amore,” he growls, leaning forward to lick a stripe up your neck that has you shivering, “almost told the brothers to fuck off so I could have you on the counter in this sweet little dress earlier, huh? Little tease.”
He captures your lips in a lewd kiss, tongues sliding against each other in a way that has you whimpering into his mouth. When you finally have to separate for breath he grins up at you.
“Ah, this is a familiar sight, eh dolcezza? Speaking of New Year’s Eve.”
You giggle warmly and nod, pressing open mouthed kisses to his neck. When your teeth drag along the sensitive skin there you feel his cock kick against you.
“Cazzo, diavoletta mia. Have you–ah–have you always been so hungry for me?”
You pause in your efforts to suck a mark into his throat and pull back.
“Always.” you breathe, flexing your hips against him, “Wanted you from the moment I met you.”
“Likewise,” he sighs as you reach down to fiddle with his belt, button, and zipper, “when you walked into my office that day, unholy fuck. P-pretty little thing and so sweet. I k-knew you were special immediately.”
“Well,” you say, easing the thick length of him out of his underwear and rubbing your thumb against the head, making him gasp, “we were made for each other after all, hmm? Destined for one another. Destined,” you murmur as you shift the gusset of your soaked underwear to the side, rubbing your cunt on him, “to love and protect and fuck. So says your Unholy Father.”
Copia’s mouth hangs open as you raise yourself onto your knees and position him at your entrance, impaling yourself upon him with agonizing slowness. When you finally have all of him encapsulated in your tight, wet heat, he moans and his hands slide under the hem of your dress as a prayer is pushed from his lips.
“Ave Sathanas.”
Your breath comes in little pants as you cup the side of his face and run your thumb along his sideburn.
“Ave Sathanas,” you murmur, “for giving me you.”
Gently you ease yourself off him and take him back in, your mouths sharing breath. You’re trembling as you set a rhythm, riding him with increasing force as you moan wantonly. Between the rain and your actions, the windows of the LeSabre have become steamy and it only reinforces the filthiness of your act.
“Amata mia,” Copia grunts, thrusting up into you in time with each roll of your hips and making you see stars, “w-wore this pretty dress for me on p-purpose, huh? W-wanted this all along.”
Your laugh is breathy and borderline hysterical as you bounce on his cock.
“Mmm fuck–knew you’d love it. I was–ah–gonna fuck you outside on the blanket til the r-rain came. This is even b-better.”
The last word comes out of your mouth in a higher octave as you pant and whine, your thighs burning even as Copia massages them. When one of his hands slip between your legs, his thumb making tight circles over your clit, your back arches and thrusts your breasts into his face. Not missing a beat, he leans forward and sucks at your nipple through the thin fabric, eventually losing patience. Growling, he takes his unoccupied hand and tugs the strap and the front of the dress down until you’re falling out, his hungry mouth latching onto your hardened bud. Your eyes roll back as he plays you like a fiddle - cock pumping into you, fingers on your clit, lips on your breast - moaning into the humid air inside the car as you cling to him. He pulls off you to gasp for air, groaning.
“Cazzo, d-dolcezza, you’re close I can f-feel it.”
He’s right, with every rut of your hips and swipe of his thumb your cunt clenches around the thick length of him. He begins murmuring to you in Italian and you catch a few words here and there - good girl, perfect girl, mine - and when you look down into his eyes he gazes up at you with such raw adoration it pushes you over the edge. You don’t even realize you’re crying until his hands are on your cheeks, swiping away the tears as you ride out your orgasm.
“L-look at me, amore mio,” he breathes, and you do as he asks, cupping his face in your hands. You watch as his jaw hangs open and his breaths come short and sharp, pupils blown as he fucks up into you one, two, three more times and cums with more of a wail than a moan.
“I love you,” you whisper, pressing your damp forehead to his, “I love you, I love you, I love you no matter what.”
You know your grip on him has to be borderline painful and when he reaches up to take your hands in his and press them to his lips, you sob.
“Thank you,” his voice is small, and he sounds like he’s holding back on tears of his own. “Amore mio, thank you. Sei il mio tutto. I would do anything for you. Anything.”
You hiccup and nod, wrapping your arms around his neck and drawing him close. His hands roam your back, tracing patterns as you breathe in the faint orange blossom scent of what remains of his hair pomade. You’re not sure how long the two of you sit like this - until your thighs start to ache and long after he’s gone soft inside you - but when you finally pull apart the way he looks at you brings a small smile to your face.
“We uh,” you sniffle, inelegantly wiping your nose with the back of your hand, “we should probably get back.” Your words are punctuated with a full body shiver that has him tutting and easing you out of his lap.
“You’re going to catch a cold like this, dolcezza. Half naked, hair wet. I’ll get you back to where it’s warm.”
“Grazie, nonna,” you murmur, giving him a wink before opening the car door. It’s still pouring outside but the fresh air after the humidity of the vehicle is nice, and it smells wet and green out. You don’t even mind getting a little more damp as you move to the passenger seat and Copia slides in beside you, eyes a little dewy.
“I eh, I don’t think I said it back but…I love you too.”
“I know.”
He chuckles.
“Okay Han Solo. I just have to say it out loud sometimes, huh? If only to remind myself that I uh, have somebody to love, sì?”
“My love, I will never complain about hearing it. It’s nice to be loved. Even though I’m um…still not really used to it, you know?”
You try to muffle the shiver that shakes you but Copia’s sharp eyes have caught it and he’s fretting again as he starts the car.
“Well get used to it, amore, because I’m gonna be so annoying about it I–”
The two of you look out the windshield. Or…try to. The glass is entirely fogged over from your activities and you let out a bark of laughter as Copia sighs heavily.
“There’s a rag in the glove compartment, can you…”
“On it.”
–
The two of you make it back to the abbey eventually, laughing as you run through the rain from the row of garages to the front door. When you step inside the marble entrance, it’s chilly and you grip Copia’s hand and start to drag him in the direction of your apartment.
“Come on, bello mio, let’s go dry off and put a movie on and…what’s wrong?”
Copia has stopped in his tracks and is staring straight ahead at the figure marching towards the two of you. You’d know the clack of those heels anywhere and your blood runs cold as Sister Imperator approaches, lips twisted in a disapproving grimace.
“I was under the impression that you two were under the weather. What a miraculous recovery you’ve made.”
You glance sideways at Copia, whose face is a mask. His eyes though, are filled with fire.
“So I took a personal day. Frankly, Sister, I think I deserve it every once in a while.”
“You have obligations, Cardinal.”
“Oh? And spending time with my Sathanas-approved mate isn’t one of those obligations?”
Imperator pulls back as if she’s been slapped and your heart sinks. Yes, the two of you had planned on confronting her about her demands but you wanted to be able to talk first. Plan. So much for being prepared.
“Both of you, my office, now,” she says, deadly quiet before turning on her heel and walking away.
Copia gives your hand a squeeze and when you look at him with anxiety written all over your face, his brows furrow.
“Together,” he murmurs.
“Together,” you confirm.
Sister Imperator doesn’t wait for the two of you, simply anticipating that you will obey her and follow. When Copia opens her office door she’s sitting behind her desk, hands folded on the surface and a venomous look on her face. The two of you sit down opposite her and she eyes your still clasped hands with disdain.
“I think this goes without saying but you’re fired,” she states curtly while looking at you. Your jaw drops and heart plummets but Copia barks out a harsh laugh.
“No, she isn’t,” he says, a faint sneer playing along his lips. “Because if you fire her, I’m leaving the church. And you can’t lose your precious pawn, can you…madre?”
She’s looking at you once again, her face pale and drawn.
“You–you told him everything? After I said–”
“How could I not?” you say and you hate the way your voice shakes, “How could you tell me all of that and expect me to keep it to myself? To suffer in silence with that knowledge about the only man I’ve ever loved? How could you think he didn’t deserve–”
“Your suffering means nothing to me, girl,” Imperator spits and Copia looks enraged.
“Her suffering is everything to me and you will not speak to her like that, capisci? How could you be so cruel to the woman your son loves? To tell her she was chosen to be a broodmare regardless of her personal desires?”
“She can be replaced,” she says, looking over to Copia desperately. “Cardi, we found her, we can find another.”
“Find…another…?” he says, blinking at her. “She’s…she’s not a broken toy that can be discarded and…how could you say such a thing?”
A silence descends on the room, punctuated by you sniffling and angrily wiping tears away.
“I love your son,” you say, voice cracking, “I would do anything for him. He knows this. I love him not in spite of what he is but because of everything he is. He’s a good man, a devoted cardinal. But he deserves better than to be pushed around on the Ministry chessboard his whole fucking life. He’s forty-nine years old, Sister. That’s forty-nine years you could have spent acting like his mother - caring for him like a mother would. But you–”
“Don’t you dare presume to tell me what I have and have not done,” Imperator says quietly, icily. “Do you think I wanted it to be like this? That after I gave birth I wanted him to be wrenched from my arms and treated like an orphan? To be told by Ministry officials that I was just a vessel and my claim on him was null?”
You blink back tears and with some surprise you realize she’s doing the same. You’ve never seen her so upset and judging by Copia’s face, neither has he.
“I’m sorry.” you murmur, “Sister, I am so, so sorry they put you through that. It’s not right and you deserved better.”
A tense silence settles between the three of you.
“Does my amore not deserve better?” Copia says softly. “Does she not deserve to have autonomy over her own body, as the Olde One deems? I’ll play my part, but spare her this horror. Let her stay by my side as an equal partner, let me keep her safe. Consider this the only favor I’ll ever ask of you, mother.”
Sister Imperator fishes a handkerchief out of her pocket and wipes at her cheeks, eyes avoiding both of you. When she finally does look at you, there’s something deeply sorrowful in her gaze.
“I wish your father was more like you,” she says, glancing over to Copia after a moment. “Maybe things would have been different.”
“My…my father…?”
“Don’t be silly, Cardi, I’m sure you pieced the puzzle together by now. You were conceived in a ritual involving Papa Nihil being possessed by the Unholy Father.”
So Copia was right. You look over to him and his face is twisted in anguish, devastated to receive confirmation on what he suspected his whole life. You take his hand in both of yours and squeeze tight. Imperator’s gaze flicks between you both and she lets out a heavy sigh.
“Okay,” she says to herself softly, as if making up her mind about something, “Okay. Plans…plans can be changed. In the end this…setback…affects very little, I suppose. I’ll have to speak to Mr. Psaltarian and the rest of the Council about this but…yes this should work.”
The weight in your stomach begins to lift and Copia looks over to you.
“You’ll respect my wishes, then?” you ask tentatively.
“Yes. Yes, dear I believe you’ll–everything will be fine.”
Dear. Well it’s a significant upgrade from girl, that’s for sure.
“Thank you,” Copia says, “Sister. Mother. Whatever. Thank you.”
She nods, but she looks preoccupied with other thoughts.
“Why don’t you two take the rest of the week? Give you a chance to clear your heads. I-I understand this has been a lot to digest.”
“I eh, thought I had obligations?”
Imperator gives Copia a tired look, perhaps the most motherly you’ve seen her thus far.
“I thought you deserved time off, Cardi? If not I can always send you the budget for–”
“Eh, no. We’ll take it. Thank you, Sister.”
The two of you rise and Copia leaves but you stand in place looking at the woman before you.
“Thank you,” you say so quietly, you’re not even sure she heard it until she nods. She opens her mouth to speak but shuts it again, clearly second guessing what she was about to say as she waves you out. When you shut the door behind you, Copia is leaning against the hallway wall and staring at the floor.
“Hey,” you murmur, fingers reaching out to brush his side, “you okay?”
He inhales deep and exhales through his mouth before reaching for you.
“I’ve never spoken like that to her before. Pretty sad, huh? Almost fifty and–”
“My love, you were wonderful,” you say, gathering him into your arms, “I’ve never seen you so furious, it was magnificent.”
His shoulders shake in your embrace and for a heartbreaking moment you think he’s sobbing but when you pull away he’s got a grin on his face.
“Amore, you make me so brave,” he says, cupping your cheeks in his hands and placing a kiss on your forehead. You chuckle, putting your hands over his.
“Do you think…” you murmur, lips twitching into a smile and he cocks his head, “do you think when Meatloaf was singing about doing anything for love but not that, the ‘that’ was having the Antichrist’s baby because–”
“Sathanas, you only just dodged this bullet and now you’re making jokes? Incredibile.”
Chortling, he starts to walk down the hall and you loop your arm through his.
“Leave me alone, it’s how I process trauma. And I no longer think your mom actively wants to murder me in my sleep so I’m celebrating a win here, love. But…would you really have left the church for me? Did you mean that?”
Copia stops and turns to you.
“Assolutamente. In a heartbeat. A life here without you in it would be meaningless, amore. You are all that matters to me now and if that means finding a new job and a new home, well. With you I can do anything. And don’t you worry, I would never let her hurt you. Never,” he goes quiet for a moment and then speaks again, “Makes you wonder, though, you know. About what she has in store for me.”
“Hey,” you stop him, arms on his biceps, “whatever it is it’s your choice. It’s your life. No one is destined to fulfill any kind of contract, not even you. Whatever you choose, I’ll be right here beside you.”
He smiles, nudging your chin with his thumb.
“Let’s go take a hot bath, huh?”
You groan.
“Oh that sounds divine. And put on Mystery Science Theater 3000?”
“Which episode, though?”
“Antichrist’s choice tonight.”
He rolls his eyes.
“Manos.”
“The Hands of Fate? Classic. Hey, is it weird I always had a thing for Dr. Forrester?”
Copia stops in his tracks and you look at him innocently.
“Maybe it’s the whole evil thing. And the mustache.”
He calls you a name in Italian under his breath and you spend the rest of the walk back to your apartment begging him to divulge it. When the two of you reach the door he finally breaks.
“I said ‘birichina mia’.”
“And what does that mean?”
He sighs.
“Eh, ‘my naughty little one’.”
Your mouth forms an ‘o’ and you bite your lip while opening the door to your quarters.
“Get that bath started and I’ll show you just how naughty I can get, hmm?”
Copia grins at you wickedly.
“Twice in one afternoon? You spoil me, amore.”
“Hmm I suppose I do,” you say airily, lifting the hem of your damp sundress over your head and tossing it onto the floor. Copia’s eyes go wide as you pinch at your pebbled nipples and he backs clumsily into the doorway of your bedroom.
“Well go on,” you purr, shimmying out of your underwear. “Get to it, Your Eminence.”
You’ve never seen him move so fast as he hustles into your bathroom, untucking his shirt along the way. By the time the two of you are slumped over and spent much later in the now tepid bathwater, he’s softly singing something in your ear while your eyes drift closed.
“Is that one of Terzo’s songs? ‘Bible’?”
“Eh, yeah,” he sounds sheepish so you reach behind you to scratch his scalp soothingly.
“You’ve got a nice voice, my love. We should do karaoke one night.”
He chuckles.
“Oh no, I’m not built for performing, amore. Too much pressure.”
“Who knows,” you murmur, leaning back against him, “you might surprise yourself one day, hmm?”
