I think this is another case of, not speaking for another group of people, otherwise you are creating a whole new problem that is not only insensitive but also disrespectful to those group of people. Unless you are the Sami are native to places like Norway, we do not know if the representation presented can be debated as problematic. No matter how good the intentions, it still is upsetting to think you have the knowledge about something that will still be alien.
And I heavenly agree with the statement ‘don’t look like they could be X group of people’ being very insensitive. This applies especially to mix people but in this case, Iduna's physical appearance could simply be brushed as an error. Key word: could. No doubt in mind that if the writers knew before hand what they wanted to do for a sequel BEFORE finishing the first movie, they would have made Iduna more "native". Or at least made the Northuldrans look more diverse to match Iduna's features.
Iduna is Northuldran, her heritage is not going to go away automatically because people who are not Norwegian Natives says otherwise. Sure she could of looked more like her younger self, but her skin was not even that dark when she was a child.
Tumblr media
“PART OF THEM”
It still absurd to me whenever i read articles or when Disney said “Idunna is actually native Northuldran”. Like…. Wheeeere?
They portrayed this Northuldran have their own characteristic like higher and prominent cheekbones, wider space between eyes, almond and upturned eyes, wilder nose, stronger jawline, and DARKER SKIN.
And then they show Idunna who is looks like nothing resemble and Northuldran. They tried to show her part of “native” with her darker skin while she was A CHILD like that even not making more laughable.
She have this pretty princess normal Arendelle type face, extremely pale, nothing like the Northuldran. Does our appearance can drastically change depends on where we live? Will i be suddenly have caucasian’s characteristic if i ever move to North Europe?
“Skin can be lighter when you grow up.”
Yeah, then at least we can see some Northuldran have skin as light as Elsa then, especially since they never got the sun touch all this time.
I also find it so ridiculous for the part when Elsa and Anna said they are part of them and the Northuldran suddenly just accept them and be like “the past is in the past, forget that they betrayed us and tried to colonize us” despite they just reach there not even 10 minutes ago.
It’s make me thinking, is that how westerners still see native people? Especially to the place they was trying to colonize?
“We are part of you.” Yeah. I think that’s the magic words it seems. At least that’s what they seems to show in the movie.
Maybe because it’s the easiest way to make a community suddenly fond of you and accepting you (althought it’s tacky indeed.)
If they stuck like that because Idunna’s face already default from F1, they can make the Northuldran’s face looks more like Idunna instead. Or maybe making Agnaar’s mother as the one from Northuldra considering we never saw her and they have more freedom to create new character. Or just not making them related and completly making Arendelle have redemption arc towards the Nortuldran.
Not like making Idunna as part of the Northuldran despote she doesn’t resemble anything from her tribe. What is this? Avatar live action by Night M. Shyamalan?

Real Talk: Ace Didn't Need to Ask For Help, It's On Garp
Tumblr media
i always hate when i see comments about how ace was an idiot or ace should have just asked garp for help because, no? like dawg wtf do you mean?
the one thing we have been told repeatedly across the manga and anime is that ace could have lived his entire life being perfect and he still would have ended up on that podium
he could have become a marine, a police officer, a teacher, a chef and all of that would have been reduced to nothing the moment his parentage was discovered
Tumblr media
yes, ace became a pirate of his own volition, but sengoku never mentioned his piracy
he never mentioned all the criminal activity ace did as the captain of the spade pirates or even later as the second division leader of the whitebeard pirates
you know what sengoku did bring up though the moment he got on that damn podium? ace's parentage
Tumblr media
he mentions nothing that gained ace his bounty to begin with when he gets that den den mushi in his hand. why?
because it doesn't matter that ace is a pirate. what matters is that they are eradicating the last gol d roger's bloodline
bear in mind that they were killing pregnant women and young children who could have even had the slightest possibility of being roger's lover or kin
akainu deadass says that he doesn't care if every other pirate at marineford escapes as long as ace and luffy died and he would ensure their deaths personally. and for what? not their piracy. none of their crimes. not even for ensuring that the truth that certain countries and lands that were actually saved by pirates instead of the marines never got out
but because their fathers were gol d roger and monkey d dragon respectively
Tumblr media
solely because of that, he deemed neither of them deserved to live
and as far as garp goes - i love garp as much as the next person but garp has never done anything for ace to trust him enough to ask for help even if he felt he deserved to ask
garp's negligent parenting coupled with the abusive words ace grew up hearing led ace to believe he didn't even deserve to be born. when he even asks garp if his being born was a good thing, garp can't even tell him 'yes'. he just says 'time will tell'. my brother in the blue seas, that is an elementary schooler questioning his right to exist
ace is defeated by blackbeard in episode 325 (chapters 434-441), luffy hears about his execution being set in episode 416 (chapter 522) and then finally ace is killed in episode 483 (chapter 574). that is 158 episodes and 140 chapters total and in that time what ace receives from garp are conversations that boil down to
"you did this to yourself"
"i just wanted you to become a fine marine"
"i don't have sympathy for criminals but i do have sympathy for family"
and garp actively preventing those who wish to save ace from reaching him. yes after akainu strikes ace, garp does react viscerally with instinct to protect his grandson, but that's too little too damn late at that point
garp having his moral dilemmas mean nothing when, however long ace spent in impel down, he isn't trying to help him
garp having his 'wishing things had been different' thoughts mean nothing when garp is preventing people from saving his grandson
there's a reason garp lets dadan beat and berate him when they reunite in windmill village and it's because he knows she's right
Tumblr media
over the course of 20 years, garp has consistently chosen work over ace and luffy. as much as i love dadan and co, bandits are not a good choice to have raise your grandkids and then be the surprised pikachu meme when neither of them wish to become marines
garp's inability to see past the system he disdains yet clings onto actively shoots him in the foot
prevents him from seeing that ace is right when he says he never could have become a marine
Tumblr media
luffy could have never become a marine. i do hear arguments saying that luffy might have had a fair chance considering garp is biologically his grandfather but i say that's truly up in the air considering how, even with that knowledge, akainu still wants to put luffy on a poster
but that's all to say, asking why ace never asked garp for help is ridiculous
the fuck would ace look like asking the man who has done nothing but
unintentionally fostered ace's resentment towards luffy in their early childhood
told ace it was his own fault he landed where he did
falcon punched marco halfway across marineford
for help?
and that's not even mentioning the fact that up until that point, ace didn't believe he deserved to live. he didn't think he had the right to exist. the only thing that kept him going up until that point was hoping he'd find an answer that justified his being born and his love for luffy and sabo. ace tells luffy in his dying breaths if it weren't for the two of them, he would have gave up on living a long time ago
yes, garp loves ace and luffy
Tumblr media
he loves them both dearly but he is also incapable of putting them before work, before his ideals of justice. these two truths can coexist at the same time. garp's stubborn to a fault and his moral dilemma resulted in both inaction and the prevention of ace's escape
so to say that marineford would have gone differently if ace had asked is seriously undermining the character work. because in reality, it's up in the air on whether or not that would have done anything. ace asking garp for help could have gone either way and that's the beauty of the gray area regarding garp's actions during the summit war
and yes, i can get why it's frustrating that ace turned around to fight akainu when he could have just left and got it back in a blood a different time
Tumblr media
but aside from ace having a temper about specific topics, we do get an answer as to why he couldn't bring himself to runaway when we finally are able to dive into his past with luffy and sabo:
he doesn't want to run away from any situation because ace is deathly afraid of losing something if running away ends up being the bad call
Tumblr media
and in that moment, luffy was behind him
even if akainu hadn't talked down whitebeard, ace would have inevitably turned back around because he wouldn't have been able to shake his fear of losing something or someone he cared about
as long as there is something precious for him to potentially lose, ace will never run
he was doomed from the start
his being the son of gol d roger doomed him from the start
and that's what makes ace so tragic

Gun and Stones
So, I was thinking about Stone these days and some small thoughts came to mind, especially thanks to @shitposting-for-the-soul
Many people think that Stone will become the big villain of Sonic 4 and while I want this man to go through the very valid crash out that he needs to have… I don't believe that this will translate into villainy.
Not against Earth and the team of heroes at least.
Stone is evil. But he also has standards. Are they only relevant to him? Yes, but he does. We've already seen that he's not xenophobic, not caring about Shadow's world domination because he considered him an ally and treated him as such, regardless of the hedgehog being an alien. He took control of a café in Green Hills through shady means, but only because he followed Ivo's manifesto and it didn't even cross his mind to dominate the world without the Doctor.
And that's the thing, Stone wanted to dominate the world with Robotnik. To be his right hand man.
And with Eggman presumed dead, I don't believe any plan to enslave humanity would even cross his mind.
You ask me: Stone has already started a posthumous plan for Ivo once, why not start over?
And I answer: Because of the way Ivo died.
Robotnik sacrificed himself to save the Earth, since he couldn't save it. Not only that, he made that very clear in his final message. And I doubt Stone would want to attack humanity after the most important person in his life sacrificed everything to keep it.
Taking over the Earth would not only be empty without Ivo, it would tarnish the Doctor's ultimate sacrifice. And Stone would never act against Eggman's wishes.
But Stone is also grieving, and that pain and sadness needs to go somewhere.
And I believe it will be directed in two ways, although both end up on the same target: GUN.
The first is that Stone's anger and sadness is directed at GUN from the beginning.
He was once part of this organization and Stone knows how insidious it is. It was because of them that Gerald went crazy and built the Eclipse Cannon. It was because of them that Ivo was discarded without further ado. All this chaos happened because of them.
And Stone wouldn't let that go unpunished.
Maybe he plans to act against GUN alone or when Sonic and the others inevitably face them - especially since Rockwell will probably be the new leader - they need Stone's help, who will be more than happy to help.
Add to that the possibility that Stone will become Shadow's new guardian and this man's anger will triple.
The second is more complicated: Stone will try to get revenge on Sonic and company… because he thinks they were responsible for Ivo's death.
Yes, yes, we know that Tails and Knuckles saved Eggman from his despicable grandfather… but not Stone. Sonic already tried to kill Ivo once and was disappointed when he realized he hadn't succeeded. He has no reason to think that this wasn't what happened again.
Stone would blame them…and that's where GUN would come in.
With Rockwell in charge, the Wachowskis are already on thin ice. With Metal Sonic and Amy Rose showing up? Nah, they're going to be on a witch hunt for all the aliens. And they took advantage of Stone's grief by claiming that it was Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles who killed Robotnik in an attempt to bring him over to their side. Is that a blatant lie? Absolutely, but it's not like GUN plays fair and has any morals anyway lol.
Of course, this would only work if Shadow isn't under his care.
But assuming he isn't, that's quite likely. As is the truth coming out.
My best guess is that Amy would bring Stone to his senses with a speech like she did with Shadow in SA2, perhaps using her temporal powers to show him what really happened (Amy and Stone would get along well in general in my opinion since both characters have caring and unconditional love as a big part of who they are).
We also have the possibility of the team or even Shadow himself telling what really happened.
And Stone would be livid with GUN using him. Again. And tainting Ivo's memory and wishes.
Anyway, I can't wait to see Stone back and terrorizing GUN! Thanks for reading!

Hello! I love your writing! I'm absolutely thrilled I found your blog, I am a fanatic for your danganronpa writing.
I was wondering if I could request HC's for fuyuhiko, Ryoma, and kazuichi(separate) with a S/O who is ishimaru's younger half sister(like year or so younger), and despite being very different, ishimaru and S/O are very close. How would the three cope with Ishimaru's bullshit, because there's no way he isn't incredibly intrusive on their relationship. This has been on my mind for awhile, honestly.
-🧱Anon
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed my DR writings. It's good to be back after a few years <3
I got a few ideas from the UTDP game bc while it's not canon I adore the short interactions Taka had with these three
.....
Fuyuhiko
For the young yakuza..it felt strange having a normal relationship as most highschoolers did.
But somehow you made it work, although there were hurdles you had to overcome to even get close to him in the first place.
Gaining his and Peko's trust was the first step, which meant not being perturbed by his fiery attitude and her protective nature, and actually getting to talk to him one-on-one.
He's surprised that all of his insults didn't drive you away, although he remembers you've got the blood of the Ishimaru family running through your veins; you're stubborn as hell and not one to back down from a challenge.
Even if the challenge was to befriend a guy who basically told you to "fuck off" every other day.
When you two finally became friends and eventually start dating months later, he wondered if you had any enemies who saw your grandfather's downfall as a disgrace and still hold onto that same resentment towards his kin...
But you reassure him that's the least of his concerns.
And he didn't have to worry about gaining your father's approval, which confused him a lot--since he was in the police force and surely wouldn't like hearing about his daughter dating a notorious clan leader.
Imagine Fuyuhiko's surprise when you tell him that it's your older half-brother, Kiyotaka, that he should be worried about.
"Wait...the hall monitor guy? You two are related????"
That's never occurred to him until now, but you don't blame him for it.
Despite having similar physical traits, you two had vastly different personalities. Taka was louder, more strict, and some would even call him a self-righteous nuisance, while you stayed your honest and true self, keeping a levelhead and knowing that there's more to life than just studies (although you try to prioritize them whenever necessary).
You both believe in working hard to achieve what your hearts desire, and because you share that same goal, you were close and even ran the public morals committee together.
So when you finally introduce your boyfriend to Taka, he immediately wants to know what his intentions are.
If anything, he's worried about the ramifications of you dating a yakuza, wanting to know if you'll be safe, if it'll affect your duties/studies, etc. etc.
Even though Peko had sworn to protect you both from threats, Taka still has his concerns.
He acts very overbearing, and after a few weeks it comes to a head when you and Fuyuhiko are just taking a break from an event, only for Taka to storm over and express disappointment and claiming he's a "bad influence" for apparently "dragging" you away from your responsibilities.
Before you could defend yourself, your bf does so--in his own hotheaded way, of course.
"It was HER choice to take a fucking break, dude. Would it kill you to back off a little??? You'll be fine without her for a few minutes. God. I can't believe you're related to this guy, [y/n]..."
That struck a nerve in Taka, as he excuses himself to go sulk somewhere--to which you leave to comfort him while Fuyuhiko is still brimming with irritation.
Eventually, though, he does some reflection and realizes maybe he was being kind of a dick....so he finds you two and apologizes, admitting he was frustrated and just wanted to be viewed as "normal" for once.
Fortunately your half-brother forgives him on the spot, promising to step back and let your relationship thrive without his constant intrusion.
Ryoma
The former tennis pro took a risk falling in love with you, obviously due to his past and reputation as a prisoner who once faced death row.
After realizing you were part of the Ishimaru family who still had unpaid debts spanning generations, he wanted to protect you at all costs, often worried day and night that someone's gonna come along to "collect" that debt.
Considering what happened to his last girlfriend, his fears were understandable, but you reassured him that you had no known enemies.
One day, he's surprised when you tell him your half-brother wanted to meet him--although that was better than meeting your father who was in the police force.
Taka was quick to figure out you were dating someone and requested a meeting, wanting to make sure this guy was good to you and didn't distract you from your studies/talent-related duties.
You mentioned ahead of time that Ryoma used to be in prison, but he firmly believes in people redeeming themselves and working hard to become good members of society again if they wanted to. So he didn't seem too worried.
But the meeting ends up turning into more of an interrogation.
Your boyfriend barely gets to say "hey" before he's scolded for having a cigarette in his mouth---only for him to reveal that it's candy---and then get another reprimand for having said candy on school grounds.
You defend him like "bro please, he's trying to overcome an addiction", and for a moment Taka settles down.
But then he goes on to ask why he'd keep reminders of his criminal past with him (the iron cuff on his leg and the prison jumpsuit), wondering why he's not dressed like his Ultimate at all.
Ryoma made the mistake of saying he gave that up.
Taka's horrified at the notion that somebody would just "throw away" their talent after working their whole life to achieve such a title.
He asks why he'd willingly destroy his own future--to which your boyfriend finally gets fed up with all the questions, responding that he shouldn't be judging the choices of somebody he barely knows before walking off.
You leave to talk with Ryoma sometime later, apologizing for Taka's behavior and explaining that he could be insensitive at times, and just needed help understanding other people's perspectives.
He admits he might've lashed out, feeling jealous of your half-brother's fighting spirit that continued to persevere despite facing such a huge tragedy in his family.
He himself wishes he had that same spark, even though you pointed out that their circumstances were highly different.
Eventually, him and Taka are able to have a mature conversation, with Ryoma explaining how he was in an extremely dark place and lost a lot of people he loved, going to prison just for trying to avenge them.
He didn't think life was worth living anymore until you showed up and gave him a reason to keep going, helping him enjoy tennis again. Even if it's just a ping pong match every once in a while.
He promised Taka--from one man to another--that he'll be nothing but good to you and will prove it.
He's ready for him to say that was a "poor excuse" for giving up his talent and committing crime...
But instead Taka just starts bawling, moved by his will to live again and revive his talent.
"Cool your jets, man.." Ryoma gets flustered. "I didn't say I'd go back to being pro overnight."
"Bu....But I-I am touched by your story!! And here I was, making horrible assumptions about your life and your intentions with my sister! Forgive me!"
When you show up, he profusely apologizes for scrutinizing your partner, now knowing the full story and deciding to put his trust in him from there on.
Of course he might bug you two about studying and not engage in pda so much, but you both try ignoring it.
If you ever expressed annoyance about it, Ryoma says that while he agrees sometimes, you shouldn't take it for granted.
Kazuichi
They've shared passing glances in the halls, with Taka completely disapproving Kazuichi's "uniform" and outlandish style, trying to convince him to change.
But the Ultimate Mechanic, immature as ever, just mocks him and calls him a "nerd" before running away from the angry Ultimate Moral Compass--coincidentally finding you, his partner of one month.
Somehow, he doesn't know Taka is your half-brother, even with the distinct red eyes and eyebrows that ran in the family and the fact that you were co-leader of the public morals committee.
You reveal that to him after he's done explaining why he looked so scared....and his eyes turn to saucers.
"H-He's...your BROTHER??? But you two act nothing alike!!"
"Half-Brother, Kazuichi." You correct. "We share the same dad."
"Huh? Same dad....different mom?"
"......"
"Ohhhhhh, okay now I can see the resemblance-"
"Well..no shit! How was it not obvious from the start?!"
"AH! Y-You yell just like him, too!" He squeaks, terrified.
But now he understood why Taka always seemed to be watching you two, assuming he was jealous that some "sleazy" guy like him could get a date.
Nope. You just have an overprotective family member.
Taka had little trouble finding you both, and things get even more awkward when you explain to him that the pink-haired troublemaker who always called him a nerd was your boyfriend.
That goes about as well as you expected.
"[Y/n], as part of the Ishimaru family, we're expected to hold ourselves to the highest standards! And that goes for anything in your personal life! Including relationships! So please tell me what you see in this unkempt gentleman and his countless dress code violations!!"
"Shit. What're you, her dad??" Kazuichi gets defensive fast. "You need to chill, dude. [Y/n] doesn't mind my style. She digs it!"
"...well uh..." You sweat a little, already sensing your half-brother's disappointment.
After that incident, Taka's gonna have your relationship with the mechanic under a microscope for quite some time.
He hoped you'd set a good example, and maybe help him change his attire to look more appealing and mature--or at the very least convince him to wash his jumpsuit.
You too once thought Kaz was always up to no good, considering how much he bothered Sonia and whatnot, until you got to learn that deep down he felt insecure and undesirable, his appearance only being that way because it made him feel somewhat more confident in himself.
So you gave him a chance to prove he could be a good partner.
And you don't regret it, as he's been the sweetest guy ever--building mechanical trinkets to decorate your dorm with and letting you study instruction manuals so you could ask questions and get him passionate about his talent.
Given the longstanding banter between him and Taka, proving to the latter that he's treating you well was going to be a challenge.
"Seriously, what do you see in that guy, [y/n]?"
"He makes me laugh, Taka."

I'm just upset right now so this is not very articulate, but some people in the Tolkien fandom are so obsessed with defending the Feanorians and minimizing their mass murders it's actually absurd. Also it's really, really irritating when you can't go two days without running across a post desperate to turn them into soft people by explaining why "it's not that bad" and "guys actually I think only a few people died".
Or alternately not understand their oath or their grievance at all and try to explain why Luthien/the Valar own the Silmarils.
And I'm not talking about headcanons (you are free to make yours), these are actual parts of the text someone picks up and extrapolates to the nth degree to suit what they say.
Like look, I get it. The Feanorians lost the sacred, almost divine items that their father made, and now those are in the hands of an actual evil god who will not give them up, and whom they cannot fight, and they are oath bound to recover it. I get that. But you know what? 'The other elves were inconsiderate of the importance of the Silmarils as heirlooms to the Feanorians', and 'the kinslaying is a massacre that can in no way be defended by the oath and the need to recover jewels' are two statements that can and should coexist. And one of those deeds is worse than the other.
There are several people and cultures across the world (including mine) that has had their cultural property stolen and looted by colonizers, and the idea that something is 'yours' if you won it from a thief, instead of belonging to the person who made or previously owned it is distinctly colonial in nature, but you know what these people in the real world didn't do?
They didn't commit mass murder. They didn't turn into thieves themselves.
And if these very real people with very real grievances could deal with that (and continue to deal with it), I don't see why anyone should try to justify the kinslayings, or make posts explaining why the Silmaril actually belonged to Luthien and her descendants/the Valar.
Should Luthien have considered returning the Silmaril to the Feanorians? As a woman, no; not after what Celegorm did. As a princess and heir to her father? Yes. Thingol, despite his grievances about the kinslaying at Alqualonde, should have acted as a king and considered the diplomatic way out of this. Except the Feanorians didn't try to take it from Luthien, and Thingol was behind Melian's girdle so it didn't work out. Should Dior have tried to act as king and not antagonise the Feanorians after the girdle was lost and his people decimated by dwarves? Absolutely. All of this is true.*
What is also true is this: the Feanorians should not have fallen upon unsuspecting elves at Alqualonde and taken their ships from them. They should not have attacked Doriath, which had barely recovered from a dwarven attack, and killed people. And they absolutely, never should have gone after Sirion. SIRION WAS A REFUGEE CAMP! AND THEN THEY KIDNAPPED THE TWINS.
THEY KIDNAPPED!!! THE TWINS!!! WHO HAVE NO MATERNAL FAMILY!!! BECAUSE THE FEANORIANS KILLED THEM!!!
No amount of found family fics will stop this from sounding like the political removal of princes/lordlings from their culture and background and their artificial integration into people who have killed their whole family.
And literally all those people the Feanorians were fighting after leaving Valinor could have been their allies against Morgoth. You know, the evil god-creature that has two of their Silmarils? The one that killed their grandfather and drove their father to madness?
Also the Valar. Oh gods, the Valar. They suck. The sheer irresponsibility and condescendence they display throughout this whole fiasco, starting from the destruction of the trees till the very end is astounding. I'm glad most of the fandom seems to ignore them because if I saw a post defending Manwe I would actually throw hands.
*Should Elwing have returned it? Well, here it gets murky: as the leader of a refugee camp in Earendil's absence, she should have probably opted for the path of least violence (which is surrendering the Silmarils), except the Feanorians had already killed her whole family and this was past the point of return. It also would have a very unsound decision to give back a jewel so contested when it meant so much to her people to the elves that ruined their lives and killed their kin, and then sent letters so stern it might as well have been demands disguised as friendship.

Trump, I don't really like travelling to the US, it's a bit boring, but I confess that there are some commendable things. I like going to the black neighborhoods of Washington, where I saw an entire fight in the US capital between blacks and Latinos with barricades, which seemed like nonsense to me, because they should join together. I confess that I like Walt Whitman and Paul Simon and Noam Chomsky and Miller I confess that Sacco and Vanzetti, who have my blood, are memorable in the history of the USA and I follow them. They were murdered by labor leaders with the electric chair, the fascists who are within the USA as well as within my country. I don't like your oil, Trump. You're going to wipe out the human species because of greed. Maybe one day, over a glass of whiskey, which I accept, despite my gastritis, we can talk frankly about this, but it's difficult because you consider me an inferior race and I'm not, nor is any Colombian. So if you know someone who is stubborn, that's me, period. You can try to carry out a coup with your economic strength and your arrogance, like they did with Allende. But I will die in my law, I resisted torture and I resist you. I don't want slavers next to Colombia, we already had many and we freed ourselves. What I want next to Colombia are lovers of freedom. If you can't accompany me, I'll go elsewhere. Colombia is the heart of the world and you didn't understand that, this is the land of the yellow butterflies, of the beauty of Remedios, but also of the colonels Aureliano Buendía, of which I am one, perhaps the last. You will kill me, but I will survive in my people, which is before yours, in the Americas. We are peoples of the winds, the mountains, the Caribbean Sea and of freedom. You don't like our freedom, okay. I don't shake hands with white slavers. I shake hands with the white libertarian heirs of Lincoln and the black and white farm boys of the USA, at whose graves I cried and prayed on a battlefield, which I reached after walking the mountains of Italian Tuscany and after being saved from Covid. They are the United States and before them I kneel, before no one else. Overthrow me, President, and the Americas and humanity will respond. Colombia now stops looking north, looks at the world, our blood comes from the blood of the Caliphate of Cordoba, the civilization of that time, of the Roman Latins of the Mediterranean, the civilization of that time, who founded the republic, democracy in Athens; our blood has the black resistance fighters turned into slaves by you. In Colombia is the first free territory of America, before Washington, of all America, there I take refuge in its African songs. My land is made up of goldsmiths who worked in the time of the Egyptian pharaohs and of the first artists in the world in Chiribiquete. You will never rule us. The warrior who rode our lands, shouting freedom, who is called Bolívar, opposes us. Our people are somewhat fearful, somewhat timid, they are naive and kind, loving, but they will know how to win the Panama Canal, which you took from us with violence. Two hundred heroes from all of Latin America lie in Bocas del Toro, today's Panama, formerly Colombia, which you murdered. I raise a flag and as Gaitán said, even if it remains alone, it will continue to be raised with the Latin American dignity that is the dignity of America, which your great-grandfather did not know, and mine did, Mr. President, an immigrant in the USA. Your blockade does not scare me, because Colombia, besides being the country of beauty, is the heart of the world. I know that you love beauty as I do, do not disrespect it and you will give it your sweetness. FROM TODAY ON, COLOMBIA IS OPEN TO THE ENTIRE WORLD, WITH OPEN ARMS, WE ARE BUILDERS OF FREEDOM, LIFE AND HUMANITY. I am informed that you impose a 50% tariff on the fruits of our human labor to enter the United States, and I do the same. Let our people plant corn that was discovered in Colombia and feed the world.

I saw not long ago that the Duke of Norfolk is still a thing, and he's the #1 Duke outside the ones who are made up for being the King's close family, and he's a Howard descended from the guy who died at Bosworth and the Howards have been the top Catholic family in the UK for centuries. How did that work when Catholicism was illegal, and also BOTH the wives Henry VIII killed were members of that family? Why didn't Henry or a devout king take them out? Why didn't they go down with the Stuarts?
Great question!
Tumblr media
The Howards have always had a remarkable talent for getting themselves into and out of trouble - the former because they were ambitious noblemen who aspired to high office and dynastic marriage alliances with the royal family, the latter because they were rich and powerful noblemen who were good at laying low for a while and coming up with a good plan b.
So to take Thomas Howard, his father and grandfather had gambled heavily on Richard III and lost almost everything when the Tudors came to power. However, Thomas managed to marry Anne of York, which gave the Howards a blood tie to the Tudors, and a route back into power as Lord Admiral. Highly successful military service against the Scots made Thomas an Earl and thereafter he was the Tudors' go-to military man in Ireland and France.
Then Thomas gambled again with Anne Boleyn, and when that ended disastrously, he very carefully made sure he ended up on the right side of things by presiding as judge over the trials of Anne Boleyn's "lovers." His prestige nevertheless took a hit and he had to spend some time away from court before eventually being recalled to deal with the Pilgrimage of Grace. (Notably, despite being the leader of the Catholic faction, Thomas had no problem with promoting his Protestant niece or brutally suppressing the Catholic Pilgrimage.)
After bringing down Cromwell, Thomas achieved his zenith of power by bringing about Henry's marriage to Catherine Howard. That gamble ended disastrously when Catherine's adultery was found out, leading to Thomas being exiled from court. He later found his way back into power, only to be thrown into the Tower along with his son and the rest of the Catholic faction when the Seymours came to power. And so it went.
Tumblr media
As to the issue with Catholicism, the thing to keep in mind is the "middle way" that the English Reformation pursued. When the dust had settled between the conflict between Edwardian Calvinists and Marian Catholics or crypto-Catholics, Elizabeth I's settlement didn't quite outlaw Catholicism. Catholic "recusants," as they were known in the statues, were fined for not attending Church of England services, but a wealthy family like the Norfolks could afford to pay. Now, it wasn't exactly safe - Thomas' son Henry Howard the Earl of Surray got himself executed by Henry VIII due to his extreme political stupidity, and his son Thomas got executed for trying to overthrow Elizabeth I in favor of Mary Queen of Scots, and his son Philip died of disease in the Tower of London, where he had been jailed for being a Catholic and plotting with Jesuits, although Philip's son actually did quite well as a diplomat and courtier under James I in part because the two shared interests in collecting art.
And so it went...

Alphinaud and Alisaie are my favorite characters in FFXIV and I ship them both with my WoL but I do not trust anyone else that does the same because they invariably get it Wrong. I've only seen one person on twitter that really Gets It.
Alphinaud is a petty, selfish prick that came to Eorzea with a messiah complex because his grandpa saved Eorzea five years ago and now Alphinaud wants to prove himself by doing the same. He's got a massive ego because he was the youngest and smartest kid in school but didn't actually have any friends because his male peers couldn't stand how much a smug arrogant control freak he was, while his female peers just fawned over a cute boy that was trying so very hard to prove how smart and mature he was, so he has no idea of how to actually view other people as equals, and it only gets worse when he actually succeeds at saving Eorzea with that self-important mindset. The only person he actually has any respect for is his sister, and even to her he's an arrogant control freak.
He has a grudge against Minfilia because she's the actual leader of the Scions and inheritor of Louisoix's staff and legacy, which Alphinaud feels belong to him as Louisoix's grandson, and he makes no effort to hide that contempt by controlling the Warrior of Light, working independently of the other Scions, telling her how to run the organization, and ultimately forming the Crystal Braves to replace the Scions.
His relationship with the Warrior of Light is one that starts as manipulation, he needs a pawn to set his plans in motion, so he waits until the Warrior of Light is isolated and without guidance to step in and introduce himself as the brilliant leader that will save the day and outlines how everything will be fine if they listen to him. In the course of this he develops a fondness for the Warrior of Light, but not really as a person, more a favored tool or a pet. He sees them as his property and is more than happy to rub the WoL's willingness to listen to him in Minfilia's face.
This all changes at the Bloody Banquet, when the Crystal Braves are seized by Lolorito, Raubhan is maimed, Nanamo is "assassinated", those loyal to Alphinaud are killed, and the Scions are framed for it all. Having his perfectly laid plan that he shamelessly copied from his grandfather fall apart overnight and having a tremendous amount of blood dumped on his hands is a severe wake up call. It forces him to acknowledge that he was playing with people's lives as though they were disposable, including those that trusted and wholeheartedly believed in him. He also meets Estinien, who doesn't respect his noble heritage, who doesn't immediately listen to every little thing he says, but is nonetheless willing to help him try and fix things. It changes how Alphinaud views other people and makes him start actually respecting others, as well as makes him second guess his own brilliance because his plan was not as perfect as he thought, and a lot of people got hurt because of it.
Alphinaud has the classic arc of pride going before the fall, and his recovery from that self-righteous worldview that lead to it happening, and his relationship with the Warrior of Light becoming one of mutual respect after initially seeing them as a tool. And this extends to all people, as he sees the cost of war, of how the actions of those that believe themselves righteous, wise, or justified costs the lives of innocent people, Alphinaud becomes more of a humanitarian, valuing each and every person sometimes more than he values himself. He's characterized by the regret he feels for his selfishness and spends the entire rest of the story trying to atone for it.
Alisaie, by contrast, is a stubborn, asocial bitch with a chip on her shoulder who came to Eorzea to see what's so special about it that the one person she truly respected and admired went and killed himself for it, only to be disappointed. Growing up with Alphinaud means Alisaie has a very deep set inferiority complex. No matter what she does she'll always be comparing herself to her perfect, top of the class, most popular* boy in school twin brother. She similarly had no friends but it was because she was so busy pushing herself to keep up with Alphinaud that she neglected all social interaction, made worse by the fact she she's a lesbian that kept getting hit on by older girls because they thought she was her brother, only for them to then be disappointed she's actually just Alphinaud's sister. The only person that doesn't treat her as second banana and respects her as an individual is her grandpa, so she's understandably distraught when he leaves home when she's 11 years old and dies a few months later in a foreign country. It would be hard for her not to start feeling like there's no reason to live.
When Alisaie arrives in Eorzea, she's already very misanthropic. She wants someone to blame for Louisoix's death and is holding the greater populace of Eorzea responsible, so when the combined populations of three nations aren't shining beacons of moral purity and enlightenment, she feels pretty justified in hating the world and resenting her grandfather for abandoning her in favor of a bunch of savages. She still wants to believe in him of course, she's still grieving and wants to find some meaning or closure for the death of the one person that made her feel like she was worth anything, so she delves into the Binding Coils.
It's here when we start seeing the cracks in Alisaie's worldview. She's so fixated on Louisoix and his loss, and so deep in her own self-loathing, that she's blind to the good in the world. She doesn't recognize that there are people that really do like her and care for her, because in her self-doubt and isolation, she convinced herself that her grandpa was the only person that even knew she existed. Urianger gets the WoL to go after Alisaie, and Alphinaud pulls strings to make sure her investigation goes smoothly because they both care about her. The servants her parents sent with her nearly die trying to help her because they believe in helping her find closure, but she doesn't even remember their names because in her eyes, everyone around her might as well not exist because she thinks they don't see her as a person.
Alisaie's frustration is rooted in helplessness. She couldn't "catch up" to Alphinaud, no matter how hard she tried in school he was always smarter and more well liked. She couldn't stop Louisoix from going to Eorzea, and now he's dead. She wants to find the truth behind the 7th Umbral Calamity, but she can't get past the Allagan defenses without help.
At every step she feels isolated because she's not good enough, not strong enough, there's always someone or something better that renders her efforts meaningless. But once she starts making progress with help, she starts to turn around. She initially begrudges the Warrior of Light just because they're the nearest person when she's frustrated that she needs help, but it quickly gives way because getting answers and actually accomplishing what she wants, even if it's indirectly, is a euphoric feeling when she's spent so much of her life feeling like she can't do anything at all.
Alisaie is given three foils across the story of Binding Coils: the Warrior of Light, Nael van Darnus, and Bahamut.
The WoL is proof of Alisaie's weakness, the hero she has to rely on to actually achieve anything because she herself is powerless, but by the same token, is proof that Alisaie isn't alone. The fact she has someone willing to help her, who is in turn evidence of other people willing to help her, shows that her doubt and lack of confidence are self-imposed and she's capable of more than she believes. The Warrior of Light inspires her and gives her something she wants to become, the person that CAN make changes and in turn help others, moving her away from the selfish focus on her brother being adored by others,
Nael van Darnus is initially framed as the one responsible for Louisoix's death, leader of the XIVth legion that invaded Eorzea, the one that started the Meteor Project, and Alisaie is set to hate him. But then it's revealed that Nael is actually his unnamed, unknown twin sister, who carried on her brother's legacy after he died to bring forth the Meteor Project and both her Bahamut's puppets the entire time, showing they too were powerless in spite of all they did. This is obviously reflecting how Alisaie herself ended up isolated and alone as she pushed herself to try and match her idealized idea of Alphinaud's competence and talent, and how self-destructive that kind of idolization of a loved one is. (Which in turn also plays into Alphinaud mimicking Louisoix in the main story)
And finally is Bahamut himself, the dreadwyrm, the elder primal. Unilaterally the single strongest entity in the world, if not the game as a whole, who spent the past several millennia trapped in a cage incapable of acting until he broke free in a single moment of rage and grief. This is the final step in changing Alisaie's worldview, as she sees even the most powerful entity in existence can also be helpless, unable to do anything to protect what it loves, letting hatred and resentment brew in its heart until it's blind to everything around it, just like Alisaie herself was in the wake of Louisoix's death.
The expedition forces Alisaie to understand that strength and agency are not the same thing, and power does not guarantee success or prevent failure. She understands that value in reaching out to others when she feels weak or alone, and how she in turn can be there when others need that help.
But that's not the end of the road for her development. While she takes what she learned in Binding Coils to heart, she still develops a bit of a fixation on the Warrior of Light as the hero that allowed her to come to this revelation and gave her the closure she needed, and she starts to think of them as invincible. They become the new goal she aspires to chase, like she used to chase Alphinaud to be recognized and adored like he was, now she wants to stand on equal footing to the Warrior of Light and be recognized by them. However, Stormblood and Shadowbringers both give her pretty harsh wake up calls that the Warrior of Light is in fact, not invincible. She's reminded of Bahamut's helplessness when her hero in turn stumbles and must rely on her and the other Scions in their moments of weakness. Her goal shifts away from wanting the WoL's recognition for her strength, but to be someone they can always look to for support and be capable of providing it, because Alisaie knows she can always look to the WoL for support.
And the reason I type all this out, when I feel the need to explain it all in such exacting detail, is because I see so many depictions of them that just don't get it. Depictions that reduce them to stupid kids with no emotional depth, that write them off as innocent and naive with no capacity for wrong doing. That simplify them to "hot headed fight girl with a crush on the main character" and "kind hearted fancy lad with no common sense" with no understanding or even acknowledgement of their development and the nuance of their stories.
Which is why I just don't trust anyone else with them, except that one person on twitter that remembers that Alphinaud was like one more win away from becoming a RPG villain in his own right.

hi!! i just finished the manga and your blog has been helping a lot with overcoming the sadness :') personally, i really enjoyed the latest arcs and ending (some deaths aside...) but i know you didn't. i'm curious as to how your ideal ending would be like, or at least how you think some characters evolution/end should've been approached in order to make more sense to the story, if you're ok with sharing!! (sorry if this has been discussed before, i'm still catching up with all your posts :0)
I'm glad I was of some help!
That's great you enjoyed the ending, I'm really happy for you! ^_^
Yes, things I was hoping for the ending were discussed in the past but I can give a quick recap, just keep in mind those are my thoughts, and I'm not Noda, everyone can have different preferences. Also those aren't necessarily happy endings for the characters... and they were better explained in past posts. Those are just summaries so they might not make a great deal of sense without all the context if one didn't read the past posts.
The land deed: getting lost, destroyed, burned, you name it. As far as we know there was no land deed in real life. If there's a land deed in the story, either the Ainu should get MORE than what they obtained in real life or the land deed should get destroyed. Since the intention was never for them to get more because the story should end up overlap with real life, destroying the land deed was the best option.
Sugimoto: facing the fact killing got too easy on him and that he would never heal if he keeps on going for that path (it was discussed in his fight with Toni Anji and in other points but it never went anywhere). Going back to Umeko alone, discovering he didn't need to leave her because she viewed him as a moster or something (which also never went anywhere). Either starting a life with her or being rejected by her. If he were to be rejected eventually he could go back to Hokkaido after a year or two. Eventually overcoming his PTSS and be happy in a more peaceful life.
Asirpa: remaining in Hokkaido and fighting for AInu rights WITH OTHER AINU. Uniting them and, with them work for a pacifical way to preserve their culture. Growing up from her crush for Sugimoto and either remain single or find herself someone else. Become a great person and leader figure for her people.
Shiraishi: getting close to Kiro's family as he was Kiro's friend and cared for him. Eventually marry and keep contact with Asirpa and Sugimoto.
Inkarmat: lose her child due to the stab wound and eventually die, not from the stab wound but because she discovers what Tsurumi plans to do to Asirpa and ends up killed in the process.
Tanigaki: going back home not because he got married but because he was finally ready to face his family and tell them of his sister's fate which was a goal he should have had early on. Regret he left again someone he loved for vengeance which lead him to lose Inkarmat. Finally learn leaving the ones you love to pursue vengeance isn't a good idea. Also that Tsurumi isn't the good person he assumed.
Chikapasi: I'm fine with him getting adopted by Enonoka's grandfather... what I didn't want for him was the whole implication he's meant to form a family with Enonoka. I wanted the grandfather to adopt him because he's a child in need of family and he grew fond of him, instead there's hardly any interaction between him and Enonoka's grandfather and the story implies he and Enonoka are going to build up a family like in the whole Ainu story they filmed.
Hijikata: die but in a much better fight (because again I know the story want to realign with reality and in real life Hijikata dies).
Nagakura: either die or keep on caring for Hijikata's goal also post Hijikata's death.
Ushiyama: survive, not get the gold but find his own path in life without it. Possibly remain friend with Asirpa and help her.
Tsurumi: die but, before doing it, seeing her daughter in Asirpa and finding some peace.
Ogata: either die in Karafuto or have something to do in the following plot. My main complain for Ogata was that post Karafuto he fundamentally does nothing relevant and ends up on offing himself on his own.
Ariko: either die when he was shoot or join Asirpa into trying to preserve Ainu culture.
Sofia: I'm not overly fond of how she had to bring her men in Hokkaido to fight an AInu battle but whatever, if she had to die, I want for her to die WITHOUT FEELING SORRY FOR TSURUMI. She might feel sorry for her men, for Wilk and Asirpa, she doesn't have to feel guilty for Tsurumi's baby when she hardly had any place in her death and she ESPECIALLY doesn't have to feel sorry for him when he plans to take his revenge on Asirpa.
Koito: cut his ties with Tsurumi or either be punished because he didn't and losing his position and rank.
Tsukishima: cut his ties with Tsurumi and learn to love himself PRIOR TO TSURUMI'S SUPPOSED DEATH. Decide on his own to remain with Koito instead than Koito having to go ask him removing him from his Tsurumi search.
There were more but I think as a summary this covers it.
Thank you for your ask!

My FNAF Movie Experience
I was so excited to see the FNAF movie on opening night. I had my mom with me, we had our snacks, and of course, my costume:
Tumblr media
I'd been waiting for this for over 8 years. The hype was real--and not just for me. I only saw one other person in full costume (dressed as Afton), but plenty of others brought their plushies and wore their best merch.
Did the movie live up to this massive anticipation?
For me, yes. It has flaws, but as a tribute to the FNAF fanbase, I adore it.
LOTS OF SPOILERS BELOW. PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK.
There were so many nods to the fandom. Here are the ones I can remember off the top of my head:
Dream Theory appearing as a book Mike reads
Chica's Magic Rainbow being the mascot/logo of an ice cream place at the mall
The Balloon Boy jumpscares. Annoying (but surprisingly effective) every time, just like the real BB.
Afton (as Steve) over the phone telling Mike, "See you on the flipside," referencing the "Phone Guy is Purple Guy" theory
Sparky/Fetch appearing as a spare suit
CoryxKenshin making a cameo as the taxi driver (My theater FREAKED OUT at this.)
Matpat making a cameo as the waiter at the diner, even saying his famous line, "But hey, that's just a theory." (Again, the audience was very pleased.)
The aforementioned diner being called Sparky's
TLT's FNAF song playing during the end credits
The animatronics were, of course, stunning. I mean, it's the Jim Henson company. Of course they were going to be awesome. (Oh, and Bonnie gets a plaid tie instead of just plain red. Adorable.) The actors inside the costumes did really well, too, mimicking their slow, deliberate, robotic movements. Except Foxy. He wasn't played by a suit actor at all, probably because of his skinny legs. So for that, massive props to the puppeteers. Oh, and his little "dum diddly dum" song? Kellen Goff sings it here. Amazing work from Mr. Goff as always.
I know some people were disappointed by the lack of on-screen gore, but honestly, I like how the violence was handled. FNAF has always been relatively blood-free, so it's only fitting. And honestly? That silhouette of Freddy biting Max in half was chilling, and I think it wouldn't have been nearly as good if we had seen it in full.
The horror as a whole was on the tame side, but it was still enough to spook my mom. Take that for what you will.
The Balloon Boy jumpscares were hilarious. So was Mr. Cupcake. The fact that Mr. Cupcake was the biggest threat out of the main animatronics was kind of awesome. Goofy? Heck yeah. But it's so silly that, at least for me, it loops back to being awesome.
Mike and Abby had an adorable sibling dynamic, and I am SO GLAD that Vanessa didn't end up as a love interest for Mike. Mike communicating with the children's spirits and taking damage from them through his dreams isn't something I expected, but I found it interesting. The Golden Freddy kid being the de facto leader of the missing children (and a manipulative little troll) was very fitting, too.
Art, specifically children's drawings, was a notable focus of the movie; the drawings seemed to symbolize communication, imagination, and escapism. I thought this was a creative way to incorporate the children's drawings that we've seen in the background since the first FNAF game.
Matthew Lillard as William Afton/Spring Bonnie/Springtrap doesn't get enough screentime, but he absolutely kills it when he's in the spotlight. I just wish there was more of him. Same goes for the animatronics.
Overall, while this isn't a perfect film, I love it so, so much. I can't wait to see what the future holds in terms of sequels, too; at the very end of the credits, "My Grandfather's Clock" plays, and a Speak 'n' Spell spells out "C O M E F I N D M E." FNAF 2 and the Puppet are at the very least being teased!

hi thought about Charlie again. in the Rewrite. specifically in the games. no we're not getting into my Very Sad version of the Novel Trilogy. trust me, i found a way to make it sadder.
so!! my girl <3
like her dad and brother, she is incredibly southern. this includes her using southern sayings (mostly picked up from her dad). her favorite one is "Well, bless their heart" because it can technically be used genuinely (which is how most people use it i think) or as a thinly veiled insult (how my mom says it's Technically used). it just depends on the context of how Charlie says it. if she says it in either a mocking, sarcastic, or deadpan tone, she's basically saying "Ah, so their stupidity caught up to them, then? Is that what I'm hearing?"
yeah...Charlie's not exactly a 100% perfect angel, but she's not a Bad Kid either. she's a sweetheart, but she's rough and rugged. she lends a helping hand, but that doesn't mean she won't cuss you out if you're a dumbass. she fights dirty if she has to, verbally and physically.
Charlie dealt with bullying in school, mostly from another girl named Brittany and her clique. Charlie honestly could've given less of a shit (and usually did) but Brittany would drag her friends into it. which she was Not fine with.
Charlie's not even sure what Brittany's problem with her is. the long story short of it all is that while most people think Charlie is Weird /pos, Brittany and (most of) her small clique think that Charlie is Weird /neg.
so...probably the weirdest way to view the scene but like. when Brittany and a few of her friends locked Charlie outside, Charlie's reaction was less "Oh no!! :( Let me back inside, it's raining out here!! :((" it was more "BRITTANY YOU BITCHASS MOTHERFUCKER, LET ME BACK IN RIGHT THE FUCK NOW! I SWEAR TO GOD, I'LL KICK YOUR ASS WHEN I GET BACK IN THERE-"
so yeah, had William decided to be Normal and Actually helped her get back inside, we probably would've gotten a scene of either someone needing to hold Charlie back before she started a fight, or Charlie getting into a fight with Brittany.
the reason Charlie likes the song "My Grandfather's Clock" was because Henry used to sing it to her. Henry also made the music box for her.
Charlie is technically transmasc and bigender, but uh. she kinda died before she realized that.
a lot of Charlie's friends and family would also call her Charles as a nickname.
so...you're probably wondering: if Charlie's meant to be the most "pacifistic" of the souls, why does she try to kill the nightguards in Fnaf 2? well...the short answer is that she kinda had a Moral OCD-Induced Mental Breakdown (she failed to save five whole children and practically had to watch them die, and in her incredibly traumatized mind, killing a few nightguards is how she makes up for her "failure." (because, technically, someone should've been working there to keep them safe, and no one was, but the SAVE THEM minigame takes place at like 11:15 at night, so no one was there yet))
William didn't think that Charlie was responsible for like. the three dead nightguards (in the span of two weeks post-SAVE THEM) until Alex pulled up the security footage. which showed her killing the guards. William put the music box in place to keep her from. y'know. Continuing To Do That. it's the only time he's really been Scared of her as a spirit.
Charlie might technically be the "leader" of the spirits, but that doesn't mean she Entirely knows what she's doing.
Charlie, despite everything, doesn't hate William. she can't bring herself to. that doesn't mean she forgives him, nor that she isn't fucking furious with him, but...those don't necessarily equal hatred. i'd say this UCN quote sums up Charlie's feelings towards William pretty well: "I don't hate you, but you need to stay out of my way."
Charlie is actually the one who voiced Marionn when she was little! their voice is literally just Toddler Charlie!!
Charlie is Pan, but kinda oblivious about it. she thinks that Everybody kinda likes everyone but a Lot of people are just being weird about having to like Only the opposite gender or you're Wrong. she pretty much inherited her dad's sexuality, she just doesn't know.
Charlie would've grown up to be/dress like a butch and i accept no criticism on this (/hj)
Charlie my beloved <3
She sounds so cool... I really like the UCN quote there, too, cause it just... there's a deep sense of kinda... apathetic bitterness? She doesn't hate him, but...

Obscure Tolkien Blorbo: Round 1
Nuin vs Faramir (son of Ondoher)
Nuin:
A Dark Elf in the Book of Lost Tales.
He’s an elf who found the first men asleep before the sun rose! He accidentally woke them up and took responsibility and taught them how to talk and how the world works. They call him the Father of Speech, in the very early draft he inhabits. Still canon in my heart, you go you random Avar.
Faramir (son of Ondoher):
The younger son of King Ondoher of Gondor, killed in battle along with his father and older brother. Also a character in Lord of the Rings Online.
more blorboganda later but! he's been hanging out on dagorlad as a ghost bc he snuck out to join the fighting against the wainriders with his dad and brother and they all got killed. really wants to help the rangers of ithilien once he gets out of the 'ghost who had to hang out at torture temple for a thousand years or so' fog
propaGANDA please vote for Faramir "Namesake of the Faramir we know" son of Ondoher he's got it all. Younger brother, couldn't stay behind while his family fought Mordor, rode out in disguise (sound familiar?) but died TRAGICALLY in the arms of the proto-Rohirric Commander. this is not even touching all the stuff he gets into in adaptations. Faramir I supremacy
OK no I can wax poetical on Faramir I Son of Ondoher because his is a tragedy that sets in motion the end of the Kings of Gondor (for an age or two. idk on specific but). Faramir I second son of Ondoher is not content to stay at home, doing his duty, following orders etc. etc. because he LOVES his dad and his big brother SO much. And the thing is, he really really shouldn't go. Hindsight 20/20 and all that but if he leaves there is NO ONE who can take the throne from his dad's direct line (because the Gondorian Council are punks and decide his cool sister Firiel and her extremely cool husband Arvedui can't have it on account of [handwaves] honestly). But the armies they're facing off against are serious business! They're really outmatching Gondor here. They straight up already fought his grandfather King Calimehtar, iand are back for round 2. So what does precious Faramir (I) do? He pulls the OG Eowyn, babey (and let's not forget parallels, PARALLELS about following your father (figure) and brother to war, right? she marries the NAMESAKE of this guy, incredibly cool mirroring here) and gets a disguise and rides with the Rohirrim-before-Eorl (some adaptations call this the Eotheod) to go help. Here's where things get EXTRA angsty HIS FATHER AND BROTHER ARE DEAD. He doesn't know because he's with the Eotheod, but like. The Wainriders killed them. And the Eotheod does help rout the rest of them and eventually, Earnil II future Throne-thief (but it's not his fault) gets the final victory BUT not before sweet noble Faramir is run through with a spear by the chieftain of the Wainriders and DIES IN THE ARMS OF A COMMANDER OF THE EOTHEOD. Like. That's a specific detail we have. Blorbo Blorbamir at LEAST didn't die alone and was discovered to be the prince there. So. Mr. Horse Leader gets to give the news to everyone about the poor guy that died in his arms being the son of the king. But oops! The King and brother are already dead so. Technically the King of Gondor died in his arms. What a day for him, right? Anyway this is still about Faramir who (in the LoTRO adaptation) feels such guilt that he HANGS AROUND AS A GHOST REGRETTING HIS CONTRIBUTION TO THE DOWNFALL OF GONDOR. Tragicest blorbo. Regret. Precious guy. Vote Faramir I

Why I think Anna destroying the dam in Frozen 2 is (kind of) an act of true love.
small disclaimer, i don't really think any of this was done intentionally by the filmmakers. This is more of me having fun connecting Frozen 1 and 2 because i love both films so much :)
To start off, I believe that, in some ways, the message “fear will be your enemy” that is stated in Frozen is still relevant in Frozen 2, and this is through Idunas lullaby, All is Found. The part that I'm referring to is “In her waters, deep and true, lie the answers and a path for you, but can you brave what you most fear? Can you face what the river knows?” and "Dive down deep into her sound, but not too far or you'll be drowned."
Elsa is in Ahtohollan, and this is where she finds the truth, as stated by the lullaby. She discovers her grandfather killed the Northuldra leader and built the dam to weaken their waters. Additionally, he says his reason for this is that “magic cannot be trusted” which is something that hurts Elsa on an extremely personal level, considering it took her 24 years to finally come to terms with with her powers, and accept them as a part of her. She responds to him bitterly, saying it's fear that can't be trusted. This is something she knows all too well. I think Elsa is scared and overwhelmed in Ahtohallan. She's feeling this extreme guilt for her parents' death, just discovered her grandfather is a murderer, and caused the forest to close. It's up to her to fix this problem. What can she do? How can she free the forest and fulfill the promises that she made?
Elsas fear is what causes her to freeze Annas' heart. Her fear is what causes her to lose control and hurt the most important person to her. Throughout Frozen, Elsas fear manifests externally through her powers because they are so strongly intertwined with her emotions. Even in Frozen 2, we see her freeze her hands to the railing when Kai catches her off guard right before Some Things Never Change. However, by Frozen 2, Elsa learned how to control her powers. Additionally, she didn't have anywhere she could project her fear outwardly. She was alone in Ahtohallan. This could be why she froze. There was nowhere, and no one, for her fear to manifest externally (not that it would anymore, Elsa has grown so much since the first film,) so we see this manifest internally, and Elsa freezes. If you know anything about the Broadway musical, the saying "fear will be your enemy, and death it's consequence" applies right here.
The last thing Elsa does is send out a message to Anna, showing her what really happened. I think we can almost view this as a plea, Elsa was stuck and didn't know what else to do. She uses her last bit of energy to tell Anna what happened, hoping it would help. Anna, as the other side of the bridge, is able to figure out that they need to destroy the dam, because its the only thing left of what her grandfather did years ago, and so she destroys it. I think we can view this as an act of true love.
In Frozen, the act of true love that thaws a frozen heart is Anna sacrificing her own life to save Elsas. Anna was willing to give up her own life because she believed in Elsa, and she loved her more than anything. This unconditional love is what saves the two of them in Frozen. In Frozen 2, Anna tells Elsa she doesn't want her to die trying to be everything for everyone else, but that is exactly what she does. She died after discovering the truth that would save the forest. Being everything for everyone else.
Elsa sends Anna the truth, the truth that she died for, and Anna uses it to set things right. Even though it would mean her kingdom would be destroyed, everything she worked for, Elsa worked for, and her parents worked for would be washed away to nothing, and she still did it. She had just lost her sister, the most important person to her, and with that Olaf, but still decided to leave the cave and destroy the dam. When she made that decision, the decision to do the next right thing, she wasn't sure where Kristoff was or what he was doing. She had lost everyone, but still had the strength to get up and destroy the dam, knowing what it would do, because this is the truth Elsa gave her life for, and it was the only way to set things right. She did the next right thing, even though it was the most difficult thing she could've done.
I think Anna sacrificing everything in her life to set things right, using the message Elsa died for, could be read as an act of true love in itself. She loves Elsa and wasn't going to let the message she died for go to waste. She was going to do the right thing, even if it would hurt her, which is similar to what she did in the last movie. In Frozen, she was ready to die to save Elsa, and in Frozen 2, she was willing to give up everything to fulfill Elsas' promise. And what does an act of true love do? It thaws a frozen heart!
again, this is mostly just fun. also, im sorry if there's any formatting issues, im new to tumblr and don't really get it yet, haha

Tumblr media Tumblr media
Family:
NOTE: I know I promised to follow the actual CoP MC's background and be normal but ofc I found a way to unnecessarily connect characters and bring back old MC and OCs I didn't use so enjoy imao
Distant Maternal Great Grandmother: Raine Nightbloom Distant Maternal Great Grandfather: Tyril Starfury Distant Maternal Grandmother: Eclipse Sarenya Nightfury
Maternal Grandfather: Beckham D'Souza Maternal Grandmother: Londyn Wolfe (Pia Wurtzbach-Jauncey) Mother: Diamond Wolfe Maternal Uncle: Nasriyan Wolfe Paternal Great Grandmother: Vanadey Silva (Warrior Nun) Father: Jacques Rózsa Paternal Uncle: Thomas Rózsa
Goddaughter: Cirilla Watanabe-Webster
Pet: Paris (Former Stray Dog)
Quick Background: (subject to change)
Diamond and her younger brother Nasriyan were raised in a life of crime. She's part of the largest and wealthiest American mafia crime families and, of course, despises any kind of law enforcement.
One day, she accidentally bumped into a man while waiting in line to get coffee at a cafe, where she was supposed to meet a contact. The man she bumped into would be Jacques Rózsa, who would later be revealed as a new police officer. That same night, she met him again at the same bar, and it felt like fate.
They spent more time together in secret to avoid her family's prying eyes, and eventually fell deeply in love with each other. Diamond felt super conflicted because interacting with Jacques clashed with the beliefs she was raised with, but she admired how genuine Jacques felt about wanting to help others. She eventually eloped with him, had a small wedding with only a few trusted guests, and moved back to his hometown in New York. Here, they opened The Drunk Tank and stayed under the radar.
Keep in mind, that Jacques still wasn't aware that his wife was part of a crime family he had been assigned to arrest. The case always fascinated him but has been unsolved largely due to their influence and power within higher-ranking officials. He became extremely passionate about the case and was determined to be the officer to solve it. Somewhere along the line, they had Haelyn and they were all super happy.
But then, Diamond's brother Nasriyan finds out they're in New York, and they have an ultimatum: do certain tasks for the family (she isn't officially registered on any wanted lists) and he'll turn a blind eye. So she did these tasks and slowly got back into the life of crime and violence she was happy to escape from.
Jacques eventually connects the dots and confronts Diamond's parents without knowing they're related. He knows the Wolfe leaders had a daughter, but she didn't seem relevant as she either died or ran away. He ends up having to kill the parents, but her younger brother escapes and lives on the run. Now, the whole Wolfe family is in shambles. Diamond realizes she could never live a content idyllic life and leaves her husband and daughter to go back. She couldn't bear to tell Jacques she had lied about her family history and left him a letter saying that she had to prioritize her duty etc. Jacques and Thomas were both heartbroken and lied to Haelyn so she wouldn't have to feel any guilt.
Haelyn lives a relatively normal life until her dad was killed when she was 13 supposedly by her own uncle, revealing Diamond's darkest secret in Jacques's last moments. Diamond eventually finds him and sends him to some confinement where he cannot escape. When she returns in Book 3, she and her daughter work together to track down Jacques's killer
Romance Route: (subject to change)
A) Book 1 and Book 2 Events B) Trystan is coronated and does not abdicate the throne. This means he is still temporarily engaged to Princess Jia; Haelyn felt the wisest decision would be to break up before the situation gets messy a lil too late but okay C) A crime happens (ex. someone stole royal jewels) and he hires the best private detective he knows and trusts to solve the case D) She solves the case and heads back as quickly as she can because it hurts being around someone she would never be able to be with. When she gets back, her mother reappears and sets off the Book 3 plot of finding the truth about Haelyn's father's death E) Trystan hears about this through Luke and Ruby and flies out immediately (Marguerite joins in later). He says he has business to attend to in America and says he'll be back in time for engagement planning F) They solve the case and Trystan heads back, inviting the whole gang to the engagement. At the last minute, like what happens in the Book 2 finale, he reveals his true feelings and abdicates the throne. Princess Jia didn't want to be married and Trystan wasn't interested in their arranged marriage or the Drakovian throne so it was a win-win situation G) They all live happily ever after THE END
Trivia:
She's never been in a romantic relationship. Ever. She's been interested in people before but she's never officially dated since she was super busy and not the best at initiating/maintaining close long-term relationships. Trystan was her first boyfriend and last boyfriend
She is fluent in English, Spanish, Italian, and eventually proficient in Drakovian and Filipino
She’s left handed and sketches in her free time, or whenever he’s having trouble solving a case

The roles quickly change and now Danny is shoving his stunned godfather into the car. The chase begins. Barbara has hacked Vlad's phone and has been listening to everything that's going on in the car:
V: -Twin? Since when do you have a twin?? Why didn't I know about another godson?! D: -Shut up and drive faster Fruitloop! He's not your godson, I'm adopted! V: -You're not Madeline's son?! D (and years of working with therapist Jazz): -I am her son in everything that matters! Stop taking your eyes off the road!! V: -How did this even happen? D: -It's clearly none of your business! V: -Badger, we're trying to get you out of a town where everyone thinks I kidnapped the town's favorite kid's son. Yeah, it's clearly my business! D: -Technically, he's my donor.. Keep your eyes on the road! Okay, okay, I don't remember much, I was little, but Damian and I were raised in some kind of cult? Then people around us wanted us to kill someone to be initiated or something. My brother thought it was an honor, but I didn't want to kill anyone, so I decided to find another way out. V: - No, Badger, you can't not finish the story, because I - can drop you off at the side of the road. D (flat look): - Mom will find out, and she loves me more. But, uh, okay, Anyway, I knew that I couldn't win, but the leader of the cult was my grandfather? So I figured it would be easier to get to him. I was caught when I tried to poison him and I was sentenced to death. I was very lucky, because the person who was supposed to execute me hated my grandfather and did not follow through. He wanted to raise me as a weapon against my grandfather, but it was much easier to escape from him. Then Jazz came across me, took me to my mom and dad, and they were unlike anyone I'd ever met, they felt safe. (And if Danny looked at his scarred hand at that moment, no one would know except him and Vlad.) If I'd gone back in time, I'd have made the same choice. V: -.. V: - So you didn't want to kill and decided to solve the problem by killing your grandfather? D: - Shut up Fruitloop, it seemed logical then!
They were both very lucky that they never brought up the subject of ghostliness or cloning.
Right Reasons; Wrong Kid
Summary: Batfam thinks Damian is being kidnapped when they see Danny getting manhandled into a car by Vlad; Danny loves to make Vlad's life difficult and puts up a fight getting into the car.
Word Count: 1450
Being in Gotham was the last place Danny wanted to be today, especially when he had to be here with Vlad. The fruitloop had somehow convinced his parents that he should go to this stupid three day business conference with him.
While Danny can't make any decisions right now he can certainly make Vlad regret his. Which is why Danny doesn't feel an ounce of embarrassment at what he is currently doing.
"Daniel, get in the car." Vlad hissed at him with a tight smile as they both stood outside of the building the conference was being hosted in.
"No." He said; even going as far as to take a step backwards to further spite the man in front of him.
It was clear Vlad was losing his patience with him if the subtle flash of red in his eyes is anything to go off of. "Daniel, I won't ask again. Get in the car now, or I can drag you in. The choice is yours, but you will be getting in this car one way or another."
"You really gonna drag a kid into your car in front of all these people you're trying so hard to impress?" Danny looked from side to side at all the people congregating on the sidewalk and steps as they wait for their vehicles to arrive.
"I'm hardly the first person they've seen that has had to deal with a stubborn child refusing to listen." Vlad says as he takes a threatening step forward, "Now get in the car."
"No."
Seemingly annoyed but not surprised Vlad takes a deep breath before his hand, like a snake, strikes forward and grabs a hold of him before beginning to pull. Just as quickly though Danny is trying to pull away with just as much strength. Quickly taking a moment to look around he sees that others are already starting to look in their direction; perfect.
With him distracted though Vlad was able to get a sharp tug on him causing him to stubble towards the car. Before he can fall into the car though Danny is shooting his foot forward, firmly planting it down as his hands land on both sides of the open car door.
"Gonna have to try harder than that, fruitloop. I can't make it too easy for you." Danny teased as he fought against Vlad’s pushing.
Vlad doesn't say anything back to him besides giving a low growl. This situation is clearly not going the way he wanted to and Vlad’s frustration was starting to show, and Danny was determined to watch this man break in front of all these people he so desperately wanted to impress.
He locked his arms and knees when he felt Vlad start pushing harder against his back. Preparing himself to jump to the side the moment Vlad loosened his grip even slightly. What he wasn't prepared for though was for the weight pushing against him to suddenly disappear.
"What is going on here?" A deceivingly friendly voice sounds out behind him.
Before Danny can realize what has just happened though a much stronger hand is gripping his shoulder and yanking him away from the open car door. Finally able to see more than just the car's interior Danny see's that three other men are now standing by the car.
Two of them, a teen not much older than himself and a middle aged man, are standing in front of him as if forming a wall between him and Vlad. Who is being held in place by the third man.
Danny can see that Vlad was just as thrown off by these strangers as he is based on the startled look on his face. What confuses him though is when instead of becoming angry like he expects Vlad only looks surprised as he takes in the three guys with them.
"Bruce Wayne!" Vlad announces with a tight grin, "I was just trying to get my son to cooperate with me and get in the car. I'm sure you understand how teenage boys are."
"I'm not your son!" Danny instinctively yells out; no way in hell was he going to let Vlad tell people they were any way related.
It took him a second to register what name Vlad had even said.
Bruce Wayne? He remembers Sam and Tucker talking about that guy and his family when they found out he was going to Gotham. Which means if he's remembering correctly then the young man next to Vlad is most likely Dick Grayson and the older teen next to him is Tim Drake.
Without looking at him Bruce leans towards him and whispers, "Shh Damian, let me handle this."
Wait. What?
"I'm not-" Danny tried to say that his name wasn't Damian, but was quickly interrupted before he could.
"Damian, quiet." Bruce lowly growls; still not moving his gaze to look at Danny. "Actually, Mr. Masters, you'll find that this is my son, and I don't think you should be putting your hands on him."
Vlad looks from Bruce to Danny and then back to Bruce, "While I do agree that you and Daniel share some resemblance this is not your son Mr. Wayne."
It seems Bruce wasn't going to entertain Vlad's "lie" because he still doesn't bother to even look at Danny. Tim on the other hand seems to consider what Vlad said, and turns to actually look at his face.
Danny almost laughs out loud when he sees shock immediately overtake Tim's face. At least one of these fruit loops is smart enough to recognize that he isn't the youngest Wayne.
"Bruce, this isn't Damian." Tim states with wide eyes still locked with his.
Upon hearing this the other two Wayne's finally take a hard look at Danny for themselves.
"Oh my God B, that's not Damian!" Dick exclaims before releasing his hold on Vlad.
Bruce on the other hand is frozen in shock as he stares at Danny as he comes to the realization that the boy in front of him is in fact not his youngest son. Snapping himself out of his stupor, the older man finally addresses Vlad. "Mr. Masters, my deepest apologies. It seems this young man and my son look remarkably alike, and I assumed the worst when I saw him fighting to get into the car."
Vlad takes a step forward towards Danny clear with his intentions of getting them into the car now, but before he can grab him Bruce is once more taking a step in front of Danny. "I would actually like to have a quick word with Daniel if you won't mind."
"And why is that?"
"I have a son his age after all, maybe I can help ease this teenage rebellion phase, and cause less fights when it comes to getting in the car."
Danny must have been more focused on the growing argument in front of him more than he thought because he ends up slightly jumping when he feels a sudden hand on his shoulder. Looking to his right he sees that Dick is now standing next him with a soft smile. "Daniel, right?"
“Danny actually, and you’re Dick?”
"Yup! That's me," He gestures to the boy standing on Danny's other side, "and this is Tim. Sorry about all this; we thought our brother was being kidnapped."
"Do I seriously look that much like him?" At this point Danny had to meet Damian if the guy's family was even confusing the two of them.
Tim is giving him a concentrated look when he replies, "It's like the two of you could be twins or maybe even clones. The eye color is the biggest difference between the two of you."
If Danny didn't know any better he would think Tim was accusing him of being a clone based on the tone of his voice. He knew Gotham was weird, but he didn't think he would have to worry about cloning here. "While I was adopted when I was pretty young, but I think I'd know if I had a twin or if I was a clone."
"Crazy things happen all the time in Gotham."
Well, that doesn’t sound ominous at all. Danny can't believe saying this, but it's probably time to get Vlad's attention and get the hell out of here. He already has one crazy fruitloop to worry about; he doesn't need more. "Vlad, I think we really need to-."
“Father, what is the meaning of all this?” A new voice interrupts him, and when he sees who it is truly shocking to see a mirror of his own face. The other is also now looking at him with something akin to shock and grief.
“Damian?”
“Danyal.”

And so I liked "the color kittens" book when I was little,
had good rhythm. As now employed as an ongoing proselytizing strategy BECAUSE "cats" and "gate" (golden gate to the golden state) and "color" equals *as a xerox of my evil grandfather* (raised with radical acceptance and tolerance with moral and/or ethical bankruptcy overlooked) some kind of a synagogue thing; grandpa pissed them off too, *though he never raised a hand against them*.
So then, writing can kill; "pens mightier than swords"
(no I'm not content boxed into a chapter where I neither belong nor fit, synagogues)
Writing can confine; "stone walls...do not a prison make"
Writing can even establish worth and/or merit; "love of money" (meaning *money is love*) is the root of all evil"
(money being how synagogues get around and, as opposed to say, mosques and firearms since that tends to be "Turkish cannoneers and..." where a discussion starts)
(as far as Greta Garbo being related to the Ogren's and insinuations of "one side or the other"; it's actually *Turks* ancestrally and so really it's neither for that part of that branch)
Writing *is people* is what the latest long standing goal seems to have been; acids made of *four specific letters* seems like a pretty serious oversimplification for all life sciences.
(now tumblr is alternatively *telling me it is/isn't connected* in red or green, you know paragraph to paragraph)
Mom before her breakdown had taught me,
That you should never shop hungry.
The best stuff is the cheapest.
That you can't save money by spending it.
Also that the more people living on an excess (like opulence among muslims and old empires) the more excessive the opulence needs to be. America is accomodating *absolutely huge numbers of synagogues* consuming enough resources for *five whole planets*.
As a dutch aristocrat raised daughter (meaning semitic ideas), she had said that it was all relevance "as a woman" for women in that culture. You marry the saudi king for the money, and then have affairs with the head of the army, the leader of the opposition; the first love AND the last romance (because womanly ideas have been thoroughly documented) and then you're onto "why don't these old jewish ladies take bombs on airplanes" (actual quote) to really cover everything.
So I see these amassed "giant scrabble boards of doom" running around ashland and it's age old problems. Writing is like fire that way; a good servant but...it can be *really good at describing things* but it doesn't dictate how they work. And assuming it does usually causes really bad things to happen.
Ashland had long been a place where *the primary form of recreating* was spending money "getting to shopping" mom called marrying well and before her breakdown. So ashland became a place susceptible to being yanked around *by BOTH mosques AND synagogues* after the 1970s or something. And it shows.
And nothing people need, needs advertising. And that one is from my dad, a highschool dropout who used a *seven dollar pencil* and like a *thirty dollar pen* for most of his life, taking down like 80k per year; pretty good, huh?
Italy had "put sex on money"; Germany had "money is millions of years old", America had...I don't know what America had; *according to mom who was a government accountant* credit cards *did not mean American dollars "went farther"* it meant that "nobody had any money after 75 or so". Something was "using up all the cash" so rich people had to subsidize Americans who *weren't even born yet* with "something they couldn't spend at yard sales" (she didn't know anything about drugs before she had a breakdown). Equity on things unspeakably wealthy people have, is why whole swaths of America have been "living on credit cards" for so many years. And that was *back in the 80s* she had explained that. Assuming of course, as when she was living on a fixed income and actually laughing about the stuff, than *almost no one* makes minimum payments most or all of the time. And they have. And black people notably *come out of the womb* to this problem, which I had likened to a giant elephant in the room being polite and wearing wallpaper to blend in. As old as America's constitution.
(maybe this thing posts...who knows *censorship is getting interesting*)
