Oh my god so that ENTIRE episode was just batshit insane, but I can't get over the taco pickle confrontation especially
It's SO GOOD. It's exactly how I pictured that talk and more. First of all, taco you suck at apologizing girl WHAT IS THIS!!! And pickle not having any of it, as he should. He has no reason to forgive her or even take her shit man, pickle is totally right for responding like he did.
and honestly this interaction is really funny LMAOO
As much as I love taco (and I love her a lot) she also SUCKS!!!!!! Girl that was the worst apology I've ever heard like stop making it about YOUU, "I never intended for you to be a part of the plan" it doesn't matter what you intended IT HAPPENED ANYWAY.,, and you were NOT playing together, pickle was right man you were playing him, and there was no teamwork because you were lying to him the entirety of the season bro. You can't have a relationship with mutual respect when you're keeping this huge ass secret from your supposed best friend girl
OKOKOK AND THEN THIS PART OH MY GOD
Tumblr media Tumblr media
PICKLE COOOOKEDD HER
LIKE HE ATE HER UP I DONT EVEN CARE
and the VOICE ACTING??? This line delivery KILLED ME. OHMYGOD ITS SO GOOD. ACTUALLY GAVE ME SHIVERS.
Tumblr media
Ok and taco getting offended by that is so perfect. she is absolutely GOBSMACKED that pickle would even suggest that she is still anything like the persona she put on during season 1, I think that's really why she reacts like this. Not because he's calling her stupid, but because he's telling her that she's just like her old fake self, like the version of herself that she absolutely despises.

This IS a wolfstar x reader fic, but it's incredibly slow burn. They won't start all dating each other until we're very deep into the story, but I promise the long wait will be worth it.

Chapter 6: “Crazy little Thing Called Love”
You rose, scanning your surroundings, the inky dark made it hard for you to see anything. It took a whole minute for your eyes to adjust. You saw trees all around you, as you took a single step forward, an unsettling crack echoed beneath your heel. You looked down only to realise it was the bone of a very small animal, a fox perhaps. You shivered at the thought.
Another step and a haunting howl sliced through the air, piercing your ears. Its resonance was powerful, sharp, and it reverberated deep within you, whatever monster was making that sound, it was close.
You tried to find a hiding spot but it was futile, whatever that monster was, it had already caught your scent, its primal instincts honed in on you, and you could hear it getting closer and closer. And then, it was there, right in front of you, its predatory gaze calculating which part of you it would feast on first.
“H-Hey, It’s ok, it’s me,” you stammered, a desperate attempt to reason with it, which, in all honesty, made no sense, still you clung to the idea that perhaps that would appease the beast.
Bad idea, it didn’t. It just growled back and lunged at you. You crashed back on the ground, next to the rest of the bones you had unwittingly shattered moments ago. It had a choking hold on you, robbing your breath. You heard another growl, coming from a different place when your vision started to fog, you felt like you were going to die.
“Wake up!” You heard, and suddenly opened your eyes, trying to fight the creature still, but Lily was there instead of the monster. “It’s ok,” She told you, placing her hands over your forearms that sought desperately to defend you still, “it was only a dream luv.”
You finally took a deep breath, grounding yourself. Of course, it was only a dream. Hogwarts didn’t have those kinds of monsters. You took a deep breath and looked at Lily “Did I wake you?”
She shook her head “I woke up to go to the restroom. I noticed you were struggling in bed, that’s why I came to wake you.”
You gently placed your hand over her forearm, using her to reassure yourself, she was indeed real. Eventually you smiled at her “Thank you,” you said in all honesty “I’m truly grateful I met someone like you here.”
She smiled back at you “No problem, I’m here for you, for anything, all right?” You nodded in response. “Want me to stay with you for a little while?”
You shook your head “It’s all right, I’m a lot calmer now, thanks to you. You can go back to sleep, I wouldn’t want to be the reason dear Miss Evans is sleepy in the morning.”
She laughed at that and nodded, reluctantly leaving you, as if she wasn’t sure if you were actually better or just telling her to go as if not to be a bother, which to her, you weren’t at all.
Once you were alone again you continued to take deep breaths. Nightmares were not something you had all that often, you didn’t quite know how to deal with them, so you stared at the ceiling until you finally managed to fall back asleep.
You woke up earlier than everyone again and went down to the common room with flying gear. James arrived sometime later, and Sirius minutes afterwards, complaining “It’s raining Prongs, can’t we just sleep in instead?”
James gave Sirius a stern look in response “You’re coming today too!” He acknowledged with a smile once he noticed you were there.
“Well I’m not getting any special treatment even if I know the Captain of the Quidditch team so I’ve got to be in top shape for the tryouts,” you replied with a smug smile.
He smiled back, clearly amused by your answer “All right, let’s go then. We’re doing evasion today.”
The three of you went out and did some laps around the castle. This time James had taken out a blodger and you were beating it back and forth. Once you were done you went back to the common room and changed into your uniform. Your hair was still wet when you arrived at your first class.
“Good morning everyone, my name is Horace Slughorn, I’ll be your potions teacher, please grab a piece of paper from the hat,” he said as he passed a small wizard hat turned upside down for everyone to grab a paper. Once you opened yours you saw Lily’s name appeared on it.
James, who stood right behind you leaned over your shoulder and walked to face you, leaning over to whisper “Switch with me, will you?”
You frowned and looked up at him, he had this hopeful puppy-eyed look going on, it made you gasp in surprise “You like Evans!” You teased, in a whisper too.
He looked to the side but then nodded, looking back at you with the same golden retriever look “Pretty please?”
You thought about it for a moment and leaned over to check on his paper “Who’d you get?”
“Moony,” he responded.
“He any good at potions?”
“Brilliant!” James affirmed.
You took a deep breath and handed the paper to James, “Go get her tiger!” You told him with a smile as he approached Lily. To be fair, you totally understood why someone would have a crush on Lily, in fact, it was more surprising that you hadn’t heard of anyone else being hung up on her.
There was a knock on the door, Slughorn opened the door to find a slimy-haired boy, looking like a very pissed wet rat, and allowed him to walk inside the classroom “Ah, Severus, did you get stuck in the rain?”
The boy -Severus, took a spiteful glance towards the boys and turned back to Slughorn, taking a deep breath “Something like that.”
James gave Sirius a look and a complicitous smile. You noticed Remus rolled his eyes, while Lily looked stoic, as if she was trying to hide her feelings. They clearly had some history going on.
Slughorn handed the hat to him and he picked a piece of paper, once he opened it he rolled his eyes. “Professor, can I switch…?” Slughorn shook his head.
Sirius jumped from his seat once he realised what his paper said “I’m sure we can find someone willing to–” he argued.
“–Your partners are set, and they won’t change, there was a spell on the papers,” the professor explained. James gave you a worried look but you shook your head lightly, using a changing spell to switch the names on Lily and Remus’ papers.
The greasy-haired boy took a deep breath and went to sit down at the front, Sirius followed and sat next to him, turning his back to him and rolling his eyes; so that’s why he wanted to switch, he’d been paired with the boy, you thought.
“Excellent, please, the rest of you, take your seats.”
Remus approached you then, asking if you wanted to sit in the front, you nodded in response. And the two of you walked towards a table.
“This month, we shall embark on the fascinating journey of brewing the illustrious Polyjuice Potion. Now, let me be clear—this concoction is no ordinary brew. It demands your unwavering attention, precision, and an ample dose of patience. I must confess, not everyone will master it effortlessly on their initial attempts. However, mark my words, the fundamentals are crucial for you to grasp, for who knows when fate may call upon you to employ this transformative elixir in the days to come. So, prepare yourselves, my aspiring potion-makers, for the intricate art of Polyjuice Potion awaits!”
You nodded and pulled out your book, finding the list of ingredients you would need. “It’s a complicated one,” You said, reading through the steps.
Remus nodded and winced when he started reading some of the requirements of the ingredients, “Profesor,” he said, racing his hand “Will you provide the fluxweed or…?”
"Ah, Mr. Lupin, splendid question indeed!" Said Slughorn, whose voice carried an air of geniality and indulgence. "You have touched upon a key facet of the potion we are about to undertake—the vexing nature of ingredient collection. Specifically, the delicate task of harvesting fluxweed and capturing the elusive lacewing flies. Now, my dear students, I'm afraid I cannot simply hand you these crucial components on a silver platter. Oh no! You see, the true essence of potion-making lies in experiencing the genuine challenges it presents. Therefore, I implore each of you to venture forth and procure these ingredients yourselves, immersing yourselves in the intricacies and complications inherent in brewing a potion of such calibre. May the journey to acquire them serve as a valuable lesson in the art of potion-making!"
Remus nodded in response “Of course it wouldn’t be so easy,” he mumbled and turned towards you “Wanna split?”
You nodded “You could get the fluxweed and I could capture the lacewing flies? We also need Knotgrass and shredded boomslang skin, perhaps we can get the latter with the Care of Magical Creatures teacher?”
“Yeah,” he agreed, “All thought, how about you do the fluxweed and I do Lacewing flies?” He asked, “I’m really good at catching stuff.”
You agreed “I can go with Lily next full moon,” you said with a smile “We have Care of Magical Creatures later today, right? We could ask the teacher then?”
A small Slytherin boy raised his hand from the back of the classroom “Professor, must we also dry and powder the leeches?” He asked with an air of disgust in his voice.
“Well, of course, Mr. Stradleter.”
“Of course, because I definitely can’t order them from an ingredients store,” You mumbled rolling your eyes, Remus chuckled lightly.
“In fact, you have stumbled upon the very essence of our lesson today. Step one, my dear students, involves a fascinating encounter with these lively leeches." He paused, his eyes twinkling with anticipation as he pulled a jar from his desk. The Slytherin boy held his breath at that point, staring at the leeches horrified. "Worry not, my young potion-makers, for we shall handle them with care and precision.”
“Oh, this is definitely going to go bad somehow,” Said Remus, biting his lip to avoid smiling too wide as he looked around to the rest of the tables with students looking like they wanted to run away.
“10 sickles someone ends up with at least 10 leeches stuck to their skin.”
Remus turned to you with raised eyebrows and a little smile. “Deal.” He said and the two of you shook hands.
Later on in the class, Peter who was sitting next to a Slytherin girl and was right behind Sirius and Severus, realised slimy-old Snape had pulled his hair up to focus on the leeches when drying them and had taken the opportunity to carefully levitate some of his own leeches towards Severus’ neck. Unwittingly causing you to win the bet against Remus. Once the class was over, poor Severus had over 20 leeches all over his neck and back.
“Sirius bloody BLACK! What the hell have you done?” He roared when he realised he had leeches on his neck.
Sirius raised his hands with an innocent look on his face “I’ve been working with you all class, not that I like it, but I’ve done nothing to you.”
“Professor!” Severus whined.
“I’ve been closely monitoring your progress,” Slughorn said “Mr. Black has been dutifully working on the drying process alongside you.”
Severus rolled his eyes, clearly feeling victimised. “You’re meant to be on my side!” He argued and Slughorn gave him a stern look.
Peter held back a laugh from behind. James instantly knew who it had been.
“Come here, Severus,” Slughorn waved for the boy to follow. He pulled the collar from Severus' shirt and winced when he noticed the state of his back. Snape ended up having to go to Madam Pomffrey.
Once the class was over James caught up with Peter and Sirius as they walked towards their next class “That was brilliant Wormy!” He said with a smile.
“I just saw the opportunity and took it,” he said with a small proud smile.
Sirius spoke then “That twit couldn’t even place the blame on me,” he said as he placed a satisfied arm over Peter.
“Yeah, and you lost me 10 sickles,” complained Remus as he caught up to them.
“Yeah, thank you, Peter,” You said with a smile as you walked past them toward Marlene.
“You made a bet? With (Y/N)?” James asked Remus, raising his eyebrows, who just shrugged in response.
Once you reached Marlene you went straight to the point “Why do they dislike Severus so much?” You asked her.
“He used to be Lily’s friend. But then he called her a slur,” Marlene explained.
Mary, who was walking beside you whispered “She called her a mud-blood.”
You gave her an incredulous look “He called her that?” Marlene nodded, you exhaled with indignation, “He deserves a lot more leechers then.”
Your next class was Defense Against the Dark Arts. A tall, elegant-looking lady in her forties, who you recognized as the head of Hufflepuff, Seraphina Nightshade, was your teacher. She moved with the regalness of a ballerina around the room. In the class, she went through the basics of some strong defensive spells, left an investigation assignment and invited the students to join the Dueling club that would start next week, after classes.
You toyed with the idea in your head. Duelling was fun in your older School, you didn’t exactly know how good the students would be at Hogwarts but you pride yourself on having sharp reflexes. When Defense Against the Dark Arts was over, you all walked towards the Great Hall, at that point Mary asked Marlene to go get something from the room with her and the two diverted from the group.
“So… What are we going to do for Marlene’s birthday?” Beth asked standing in front of you, Lily and the boys.
“Oh, it’s her birthday soon?” You asked.
“September 10th, that’s… next, next Friday” Peter replied “I’m planning to get her a cake, I’ve already talked to the kitchen elves about it and everything.”
“And we’re getting some firewisky,” said Sirius pointing at James and back at himself.
“Last time you got firewisky–“ Lily started, but was interrupted by James, who placed an arm over her shoulder.
“–That wasn’t our fault,” he said defensively “That Ackley boy got us some weird stuff he was brewing in his room.”
“Yeah, and everyone was burping out purple bubbles for a week!”
Beth laughed, “Yeah, that was epic.”
Lily shot her a glance, and she shrugged in response “Ackley’s illegal brewery almost got discovered!”
“Don’t be such a wuss, Evans!” Said Sirius “We got a different dealer this time. They’re buying it at the Three Broomsticks.”
“Who? Is it someone from seventh?”
“We can’t tell you, it’s top secret,” Said Remus, who was walking beside you, “Wanna help me with the decorations? We’re gonna do over the common room.” You nodded.
“Gryffindor parties are THE parties of the school.” Said Peter, “Totally exclusive, you can only come if a Gryffindor invites you directly.”
“Then it’s settled!” Said Beth “I can tag along Remus and (Y/N) for decorations, if that’s all right?”
You both nodded, then Lily spoke “I’ll see over the snacks with Mary, then.”
“Ohh, hold up!” Said Beth “Someone needs to invite Holden Crawford.”
“The Ravenclaw seeker? Whatever for?” Asked Sirius.
“It’s Marlene’s crush,” admitted Lily.
“Oh,” Responded Sirius with an insinuating face “Want us to slip some amorentia in his drink that day too?”
“Of course not Sirius! You especially know how bad those kinds of potions can hit.”
“Does he now?” You teased “Sounds like a story I wanna hear.”
“You won’t,” responded Sirius sternly.
At the same time, James leaned down towards you and whispered over your ear “I’ll tell you all about it.”
“So… Holden Crawford?” Beth insisted, bringing everyone back to the topic at hand.
“I don’t know him,” shrugged James.
“Me neither,” responded Sirius.
“I know he’s chummy with Alexander Wood,” Said Peter “They got paired up in potions first year and became really good friends, even if they’re different houses.”
“Alex, the Hufflepuff Head Boy, Alex?” You asked. Peter nodded. “Oh, I’ll invite them.” You said matter of factly. Everyone turned towards you. They were all thinking the same, how the hell had you met Alexander Wood? “He brought me here on my first day,” you explained,  “took me to Dumbledore’s office to get sorted.”
“Aaaah,” said Peter as he nodded.
“Fantastic,” said Beth excitedly “Godric Heavens, (Y/N) the brave got sent to us!”
“(Y/N) the brave?” Asked Sirius incredulous.
“Oh, Puppy… You don’t want me to talk about the zip lines, do you?” You teased. He instantly tensed up, the boys did too, but you didn’t notice.
“P-puppy?” Peter stammered.
“I gave him that nickname back on our trip, he insisted a tiger would win over a lion.”
The boys weren’t sure how that related to Sirius being called Puppy but they relaxed when they realised it didn’t have anything to do with their secret. “Good thing we already had nicknames when you arrived,” said James as playfully nudged you with his shoulder. You laughed.
“Don’t know about that,” said Beth “I’d rather be Puppy than Wormtail.”
“Oi!” Complained Peter “Wormtail’s a fine nickname, thank you very much.” By then you had already arrived at the Great Hall, Marlene and Mary joining you shortly after.
For dinner, there was Roast Beef, Shepards Pie, Bangers and Mash and these absolutely killer Buttered New Potatoes. They were so good you’d served yourself twice. Once you were done you started feeling drowsy, it often happened to you when you overate, so you gently let your head fall over Sirius’ shoulder, who was sitting beside you.
“You okay?” He asked, turning his head towards you lightly, trying not to move you as much.
You nodded, still on his shoulder “I ate too much,” you complained, then took in a deep breath “and we still have another class…”
“I can carry you there,” he offered.
You turned to him with a frown “And risk me puking on you?”
He shrugged, “If it’ll make you feel better.” You chuckled lightly, sometimes you really didn’t understand Sirius. Some days he was at your throat trying to win you on whatever game you made up on flying practice, and then he’d come out and say things like that.
You stared at his pretty face for a minute before shaking your head and going back to lay on his shoulder, “It’s alright Puppy, I’m sure it’ll go away on the way there.”
He didn’t even seem to mind you calling him puppy all that much either, in that particular moment. You might have fallen asleep on Sirius’ shoulder, since next thing you knew, Lily was shaking you lightly and telling you it was time for your next class.
The teacher of Care for Magical Creatures, Silvanus Kettleburn, was quite a character, to say the least, he had white hair, styled in a very rockstar kind of way, a metal claw for a hand and a white bandage covering one of his eyes. If Remus looked like a sexy novel Pirate, Kettleburn looked like the villain pirate the main character was forced to get married to before Remus came to rescue her. The funniest thing about the man was this extremely high-pitched voice with which he introduced himself, totally contrasting with his gruff pirate vibe and attitude. He said something about trying out a new draught that had made his voice squeaky, but it still took a whole lot of energy to keep your face straight when he spoke.
He said this month you’d be taking care of fireworms, and explained that they should be taken care of with extreme precautions since they could easily explode if not being cared for properly, if they saw the moon, or simply if they felt threatened by whoever was caring for them. He mentioned they would start small but they could grow up to 10 feet tall, and that they were the cause of many monsters and horror stories the muggles told to their children. He handed every single one of you a small box, of about 3 inches, with a worm in it, explaining how you’d have to get the worm used to you before transferring it to a bigger box, once it was large enough. “You must be very careful, and you must not forget to feed them, or they might explode too.”
You took in a sharp breath, looking down at the little box, how could such a small creature be so dangerous?, You wondered as you carefully set him to the side, as if not to disturb him much. During the  the class you learned that your fireworm wasn’t actually a he, but a she, and after getting some encouragement from Kettlebrun, you ended up naming her Pyro Princess. Neatly writing the name on a label that the professor had handed over. In the middle of the class, you heard a small explosion, it came from a tall Slytherin boy that stood beside Severus, who quickly performed agumenti to turn off the fire.
“Excellent problem-solving skills Mr. Snape,” Kettleburn said with his squeaky voice “10 points for Slytherin.”
“But it was Rosier who caused the explosion,”  Tom complained, “That should definitely take some points from them, right?”
Beth gave him a thumbs up while Kettleburn gave it a thought “You are indeed right Mr, Harrow, Evan Rosier will get a 5 points penalty for his aggravation.” Snape rolled his eyes and placed his own label on top of his worm while the professor handed a new worm to Evan.
“Whoever has the largest worm by the end of the course, will get an automatic A,” he said before he dismissed everyone and their worms.
At that point Lily approached you, “Today’s the first reunion of the study club, we’ll be working on some homework together if you wanna join,” said Lily.
You nodded in response, “I’ll just take this little girl to a safe place and see you there, yeah?”
You parted ways with Lily once you were back inside the castle. From what Kettelebrun had explained, fireworms liked peaceful environments, and while your dorm was peaceful enough, you really did not want to burn the Gryffindor tower down because of a mishap, so you decided that the safest way to keep her was somewhere in the passageways Remus had taken you to on the first day. Once you were inside you saw another light further in the passage. Turning yours off and walking behind it quietly.
“Anyone there?” You heard a very familiar voice.
“Remus?” You asked him, turning the light of your wand back on.
“(Y/N)? What on earth are you doing here? it’s a whole labyrinth inside these tunnels, you could’ve gotten lost without a guide.”
“I’m rather good with mazes,” you said with a smile “but uh… I’m here because I wanted to find a good hiding spot for Pyro Princess.”
“You mean, your fireworm?” He asked with his eyebrows raised “You called it, Pyro Princess?!”
“Well, It’s a fireworm! What did you call yours?”
“I called him Number 1.”
“Number one? And you’re making fun of Pyro Princess?”
He gave you a stern look “I didn’t wanna get attached to it, in case it blew up.”
“Now, that’s just setting yourself up for failure. But fret not, I’m sure if we team up we can keep both Pyro and Nummie alive.”
“Nummie? Now you gave it a cutesy name too.”
“It’s just short for Number 1,” you exclaimed “So, Mr. Guide, please take us to a safe, non often used area.”
“Fine, follow me,” he said and the two of you walked through the tunnels until you found a decent hole in the wall to place the two worms. You performed a small protection charm on top of them and Remus added a small light orb on top of them to give them some light. “They’ll be alright, yeah?” He asked, to which you nodded.
“I’m thinking of brewing some calming draught, to add a few drops to their water, so that way they won’t get so anxious.”
“Oh, I’ve got some,” he said, pulling a bottle from his pocket. You frowned but decided not to question it as he placed a couple of drops on their water source. Who knows maybe Remus was a naturally anxious guy and he needed it, or maybe he was just gonna use it for a prank.
When the two of you were down with the little home area you’d created for your worms, you walked together towards the library. Lily was already sitting on a round table, Beth was by her right, and a smaller blonde girl by her left. As soon as she saw the two of you she smiled and waved “You made it.”
“Bumped into Remus on the way too.” You told her as you sat in front of her, next to Tom. Remus sat in between you and the blonde girl, who you later learned was Nina Blythe, a Ravenclaw a year younger who always joined the study group, to learn about more advanced stuff. On a table beside you were several kids from even lower years who would often stand up to ask Lily and Remus for advice or help with their classes.
You pulled out some parchment and decided to start working on your runes essay for Divination since it was the thing that would require the least effort. You’d kept your runes on a little felt bag and took them out to start writing about it; you knew most things from the top of your head. Once you were done you started working on your DADA assignment. Standing up to pull some books from the library about defensive spells you’d need. Once you returned to your spot you noticed Beth was desperately looking through a book.
“All good?” You asked her, trying to be nice.
She shook her head “I just can’t find this fucking rune anywhere.”
“Language Beth!” Lily complained, “There are children around.”
“I’m so gonna fail…”
“May I?” You asked as you extended your hand, she placed the rune on it and you brought it back to give it a closer look. “Ah... It’s Hagalaz!” you explained “It’s hard to find it because in this set it looks a lot more like an N than an H, but it’s this one,” you pointed at one of the runes in a book she had discarded earlier “It means Hail… So basically it comes from a natural disaster, em… it means that… an unavoidable change that is out of your hands will be presented to you. How destructive it might be, depends on how capable you are of weathering its storm. Kinda like The Tower in Tarot,” you finally gave the little stone back to Beth.
Everyone at the table now turned to look at you, with an air of surprise in their faces “Thought you said you weren’t good with divination,” said Tom.
“I just…” you sighed,  “I don’t want to be another divination teacher’s pet.” You responded “And I’d already seen runes a couple of years ago.”
Remus gave you a rather apprehensive look while Tom handed over another rune for you to check. Eventually, you helped everyone with the divination homework, since the set of runes Professor Spellman had handed over to revise had weird shapes on most of the little stones.
The little Ravenclaw girl next to Remus seemed disinterested in the divination stuff and just stared at her spellbook, drawing little stars and hearts over the edges. When you sat back down in your chair, you realised that in fact, she hadn’t done any work at all so far, she had her spell book and a parchment out, but it was pretty empty, and she just scribbled some random notes every now and then. You wondered why she was in a study group if she didn’t have any homework to do when you noticed her giving Remus a quick glance, before going straight back to her book. You leaned back in your chair, lousily grabbing your charms book and started “reading” while you continued to analyse her behaviour.
She would read her book, the same page she’d been on since the beginning of study group, an hour ago. Then she would scribble something illegible on her parchment, and then she’d give Remus, who was completely oblivious a quick glance. She’d play with her hair, and then go back to drawing on the edge of her book, ready to repeat the process all over again. You were almost completely certain she was madly involved with Remus, but you had to confirm your theory.
So you cut out a small piece of parchment and wrote: “follow my lead” and passed the note over to Lily from under the table. She gave you a confused glance but nodded.
“Hey Rem,” You called quietly so as not to disturb the rest, he turned to you, raising an eyebrow at the nickname “Would you mind helping me with this assignment on potions?” You asked politely, pointing at a specific one in your book “I’m not sure I know exactly how to explain this particular step, with different words.”
“Ugh…. Maybe you could use crushing?”
“Yeah, I thought about it too, but I’m not sure crushing works, since it’s more like really, really fine pieces.”
Yeah, it was a tricky question, all right? But you had to make it sound believable.
“Do you think Lily would know?” You asked.
He thought about it for a second and nodded, he then leaned towards the Ravenclaw girl “Hey Nina,” he said politely, and she turned to him, almost shocked he was talking to her “Would you mind switching with Lily for a minute?” He asked with a smile. She seemed taken aback but nodded. Standing up to switch with your redheaded friend.
You leaned closer to Remus then, almost crossing past him to talk to Lily, who seemed puzzled. You were never so much in other people’s personal space, not that Remus was bothered by it, in fact, he wasn’t uncomfortable in the slightest, he found the warmth your body emitted rather soothing. But Nina? Nina was absolutely pissed. She was shooting daggers at Lily and you as if you both had just kissed her fiancé. In retrospect, if a new girl showed up in a year and she was all over your crush, you might’ve been just as angry, but you wouldn’t make it so obvious. She was damn lucky everyone else was too busy looking at their books or they all would’ve known by now.
“Oh, you can use something like make a fine dust with the dried fairyleaves,” She said after thinking about it for a bit, she then gave you an expectant look, asking if what she’d done was fine, you nodded, with a little smile.
“Oh, that’s perfect, actually,” You said as you leaned back to your place. Feeling how much colder it was without Remus’ body heat irradiating all over you “Thanks,” you told Lily and then turned to Nina “To you too love, for switching so Lily could help.” Nina nodded, still looking a bit pissed nonetheless. You continued working on your homework assignments for a while.
At some point, you heard Tom yawn, and a couple of minutes later he was excusing himself, saying he’d finish a different day. Beth decided to walk with him. The smaller children had also started going to their dorms. As the library emptied it grew chiller, so you pulled your backpack to your knees and started looking through it, you were certain you’d packed your sweater in there, but maybe you hadn’t.
Nina checked her watch and rushed out of the library.
“Everything alright?” Remus asked when he noticed.
You turned to him and nodded “I was just looking for my sweater, I guess I left it at the dorms.”
“I’ve got mine here,” he said, pulling it out of his bag and hanging it over.
You looked at the sweater, he’d already taken it out, and you didn’t want him to feel bad, so you glanced over at Nina, you didn’t want to make her upset by taking Remus’ sweater either, but she had already left, so you took it from his hands with a smile and thanked him. Pulling it over your head in one swift movement. It was big and warm, and it smelled so nice, you were thankful you didn’t reject it. You stayed in the library until about 9 pm, when Lily yawned and checked the clock on the wall behind you, realising how late it was.
“Oh, we must go, it’s time for dinner,” she said as she started to place her things in her bag. Remus and you followed suit, you placed your parchment in between one of your larger books so the ink wouldn’t run before putting it away. Once you had everything in your bags the three of you started walking towards the Great Hall. Lily switched over to walk by your side and you were left walking in between your two friends “What was the whole potions thing about?” She asked you.
“Oh… I had to test a hypothesis,” you explained, she looked at you expectantly, as if waiting for further explanation “The little Ravenclaw girl, Nina? I thought it was odd she was in our study group but spent most of her time just drawing in her notebook.”
Lily frowned, now that she thought about it, she hadn’t seen Nina do a lot of homework last year either “And?” She pressed.
“Oh, she’s got a massive crush on Remus.”
“Ahhhh” Remus said as he downed him, “so that’s why you were calling me Rem and being all chummy.”
“I wanted to see her reaction,” you shrugged. “She was pretty pissed when she had to switch seats with Lily, I think she low-key hates us now. But…” you did a dramatic pause “She seems nice,” you teased Remus.
“She looks 12, (Y/N)!” Remus said, shaking his head in disbelief.
“But she’s got pretty eyes,” you argued back, and it was true, she had this very beautiful doe-eye look going on, and her eyes were a very intense blue.
“Who’s got pretty eyes?” Asked Sirius, who’d spotted you from behind and approached right in the middle of a conversation.
“A girl that likes Remus,” replied Lily.
“I’d say she’s madly in love with him, but I guess likes works too,” you corrected.
Sirius raised his eyebrows with a little smirk “Moony boy, were you planning on getting a girlfriend without asking for permission?”
Remus shrugged and shoved Sirius “As if I needed your permission to date someone.”
“But you do! I’m your best friend!” The shorter boy insisted “Doesn’t he Lily?”
“Remus can make his own decisions,” she shrugged.
Remus smiled, and Sirius approached you instead, clenching to your arm “You have to back me up in this one love,” he said playfully, “go ahead, tell Remus he definitely needs permission from his best friends before dating someone.”
You raised your eyebrow at him, “Not sure about permission Puppy… maybe a 3-day notice?” you teased.
“3 days? At least a week, so we get used to the idea!”
“When have you ever given us so much as a notice?” Retorted Remus.
Sirius threw his head back dramatically “Moony, you know me, I’ve never dated anyone…” Remus gave him an incredulous look “Not seriously at least.”
“Ironic,” you said, Lily laughed.
“Besides, if you dated someone, I feel like you would date them date them, not just hook up with them,” Sirius continued.
Remus laughed at that “What makes you think I haven’t hooked up with anyone?”
Sirius seemed taken aback “Because you’ve never told me?”
“Gentlemen don’t kiss and tell, Pads,” Remus responded, Lily nodded in agreement.
“Hold up!” Sirius said in shock, finally letting your arm free “Are you implying you’ve been secretly hooking up with people?” Remus only laughed in return. “Remus?!”
“Sorry Pads,” he said walking in front of him with a shit-eating grin “There are some things about me, you’ll never know.”
Sirius exhaled, defeated and grabbed your arm again “You would tell me if you hooked up with someone, right?”
You raised your eyebrows, giving Remus a quick glance, he shrugged in response, and you turned your head to Sirius “Sure Puppy, you’ll be the first one to know.” You said ironically.
“Good.” You were pretty sure he hadn’t understood your sarcasm, but Remus had and he was holding back a laugh.
By the time you arrived at the Great Hall, it was almost empty, dinner had been at 7pm, and they stopped serving at 10, so it made sense only a couple students were left. Peter and Marlene joined you for dinner later, Mary had eaten with Tom earlier and was already back at the dorms according to Mars, and James was in a quidditch team reunion with the 7th years.

Summary: Inspired by episode 21x8. Alden came back home still wearing the scrubs and Y/N is turned on.
Words: 4,604k
Dr. Parker
Y/N was making some dinner when she heard the front door opening. She knew it was Alden and immediately stopped what she was doing to welcome him. She was overjoyed that he was back home since they hadn’t been able to see each other for over a week due to both their jobs.
As she saw him, Y/N threw herself into his arms coughing him off guard. He embraced her straightway,
“Hi. I missed you so much.” She whispered in his ear, holding him tighter.
“I missed you too, baby.” He replied as they parted. At that moment she realized he had a stiff neck and suddenly feared that she might have hugged him too tight.
“Oh my gosh! I’m so sorry, I forgot about your neck. Did I hurt you?” she rambled worried but noticed no sign of discomfort on him.
His features softened at the way she was worrying. Alden wasn’t used to people looking after him or being worried about him. Yeah, the team got worried about him just a few hours prior, but that was different. So, whenever Y/N showed some interest in his work, asked him about his day, or showed worries, it always surprised him.
“Honey, I’m fine. Torres gave me a back-crack and it worked magic.”
“That’s great.” She gave him a peck on his lips “Take off your coat. I made dinner.”
Y/N walked back to the kitchen, leaving Alden behind as he did what she said. Entering the kitchen he saw her focused on cooking while a good smell filled the room.
“What are you making?” he asked curiously.
“Pasta with—” she began to reply but stopped mid-sentence when she saw that he wasn’t wearing his usual clothes. “Why are you wearing a scrub?”
Alden hesitated for a second before answering, not wanting to make her worry. “I went undercover and forgot to change.”
Y/N watched him from head to toe a few times. He saw the changes in her eyes as they seemed to turn into two black holes, he knew that look all too well. She unconsciously bit her lower lips, still focused on the way he looked while she felt the desire starting to fill her body.
“Don’t give me that look.” He warned.
“What look?”
“The ‘I wanna fuck you right here, right now’ look.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” She replied innocently as she walked slowly towards him, pushed him closer to her and kissed him passionately. He wrapped her into his arms and leaned into the kiss, groaning.
It quickly became hot and desperate. Their wandering hands traveled along each other’s bodies, making clear what they wanted. He backed her off to the kitchen counter, kissing her more avidly and making her moan. Her fingers threaded through his hair, anchoring him to her as their kisses grew more urgent, more desperate.
“Someone is turned on,” Alden said smirking.
She nodded eagerly “You look so hot dress like this.”
He smirked at the effect he had on her. His lips began trailing down her neck nipping and kissing the sensitive skin. She gasped, her breath hitching as he found a particularly sensitive spot. He smiled against her skin, loving the way she responded to his touch.
"Alden," she moaned softly, her voice filled with need.
He lifted his head, his eyes locking with hers, dark with desire. "I need you,” he said, his voice low and husky.
She nodded, her eyes mirroring his desire. "Then don't stop," she whispered.
Alden didn't need any more encouragement. He kissed her again, his hands exploring her body with a renewed intensity. He slid his hands down her back, feeling the warmth of her skin through the thin fabric of her shirt. His fingers found the hem, slipping underneath to touch her bare skin. She shivered at his touch, her body arching into his.
His lips traveled back up to her jaw, then captured her mouth in a searing kiss. She tasted like home, familiar and intoxicating. He couldn't get enough. He needed more of her, needed to feel her against him without any barriers.
She seemed to sense his urgency. Her hands left his hair and moved to the hem of his shirt. He chuckled softly against her lips, helping her by pulling the shirt over his head in one swift motion. She ran her hands over his chest, her touch setting his skin on fire.
Alden's hands roamed lower, finding the waistband of her shorts and panties. He hooked his fingers into them and slowly, teasingly, pulled them down. She stepped out of them, kicking them aside, her eyes never leaving his. He could see the desire in her gaze, mirrored in his own.
He lifted her onto the counter, stepping between her legs. She wrapped them around his waist, pulling him closer. The feel of his body pressed against hers was almost too much to bear. She could feel how much he wanted her and bit her lower lips at the thought. He kissed her again, hard and demanding, his hands gripping her hips.
Their kisses grew more frenzied, more desperate. Alden's hands slid under her shirt, pushing it up and over her head. She wore a simple bra, and he took a moment to appreciate the sight of her. She was beautiful, every inch of her. He kissed her collarbone, moving lower, trailing kisses down to the swell of her breasts.
She arched into him, her breath coming in short, sharp gasps, as the feeling of his beard was tickling against her skin. "Alden," she whispered, her voice a plea.
“You’re beautiful.” He whispered against her skin. Looking up at her and placing another kiss on her lips, Y/N wrapped her arm around his neck, deepening the kiss, and pulling his hair a little.
He reached behind her, unhooking her bra and tossing it aside. He cupped her breasts, his thumbs brushing over her nipples, drawing a moan from her lips. He took one in his mouth, swirling his tongue around the sensitive peak, while his hand teased the other. She writhed against him, her hands gripping his shoulders for support.
Alden kissed his way back up to her mouth, his hands never ceasing their exploration. She was soft and warm and perfect, and he couldn't get enough of her. He pressed closer, feeling the heat of her body against his.
"I love you," she whispered against his lips, her voice rough with emotion.
"I love you too," he replied, with a radiant smile.
In that moment, everything felt right. The days apart were a distant memory, overshadowed by the intensity of their reunion. They stood there, wrapped in each other’s arms, savoring the closeness and the love that bound them together.
Alden reached down, discarding his pants and boxers. He paused, looking into her eyes, seeking her permission. She nodded, her eyes dark with desire and love. He positioned himself at her entrance, taking a moment to savor the feeling of being so close to her. He pushed inside her slowly, both of them gasping at the sensation.
“Oh God,” she whispered gripping at his shoulder.
He held still for a moment, letting them both adjust to the feeling. She tightened her legs around him, urging him deeper. He began to move, slow and gentle at first, then faster, harder, as their need for each other grew.
Their movements became more frantic, their breaths coming in short, sharp gasps. The kitchen was filled with the sounds of their lovemaking, the slap of skin against skin, the whispered words of love and longing. It wasn’t about quantity in that moment, they just wanted to feel the other closer.
His hand found its way between their bodies, reaching her clit. As his fingers began to draw small circles, she felt a pleasant feeling grew in her stomach. Her hips arched against his hands wanting to feel more. His beard brushing over her chest sent shivers through her spine, adding sensations.
His thrusts were more deliberate and precise, hitting her in the right spot he knew would send her over the edge. With her legs wrapped around his waist, she pulled him deeper as her arms were around his neck and her hands tangled in his hair. Alden felt himself closer to the edge, and he could tell she was close too.
“Don’t stop, honey.” She moaned.
His hands moved faster on her wet clit, his pounding was deeper and harder. The kitchen was filled by the sound of their low grows and moans. With a final, deep thrust, they both found their release, crying out each other’s names. Alden held her close, their bodies trembling with the aftershocks of their lovemaking.
“Fuck, Y/N.” He kissed her softly, tenderly, on her forehead, his heart swelling with love for her. “I missed you so much,” he whispered, his voice filled with emotion.
“I missed you too,” she replied, her voice equally soft.
They stayed like that for a while, holding each other, savoring the feeling of being together. Her forehead rested against his, wrapped in each other’s arms, knowing that no matter how much time passed, they would always find their way back to each other. Eventually, Alden helped her down from the counter, both of them still breathless and flushed.
“I think you need a little more care,” Alden murmured against her ear, his voice playful yet thick with desire.
She looked up at him, her eyebrow arched in question. “Oh? What kind of care do you have in mind, Doctor Parker?”
He grinned, loving the playful spark in her eyes. “Well, it seems you might need a thorough examination. After all, I’ve been away for a few days. Can’t have you suffering from withdrawal, can we?”
Her smile widened as she caught onto his game. “Withdrawal, you say? And what would you prescribe for that, Doctor?”
“Why don’t we take this to the bedroom, and I’ll show you?” His voice was smooth, with a hint of mischief, making her heart race with excitement.
“Lead the way, Doctor.” She giggled, her fingers trailing down his chest as he took her hand and guided her out of the kitchen.
They moved through the dimly lit hallway, the anticipation between them building with each step. By the time they reached the bedroom, the air was thick with tension, the kind that made every touch electric. Alden pushed open the door and led her inside, the familiar surroundings instantly comforting.
Once inside, Alden turned to face her, his expression serious yet playful. “I think it’s time for your examination,” he said, his voice dropping to a deep, authoritative tone that sent a thrill through her.
She bit her lip, enjoying the way he took control. “Yes, Doctor,” she replied, her voice soft and obedient, playing along with the role he was setting.
“Good,” he murmured, stepping closer. He gently pushed her to sit on the edge of the bed, his hands running up her arms in a soothing, almost clinical manner. “Let’s start with the basics.”
Once she was completely bare before him, Alden took a moment to admire her, his eyes roaming over her body with a look of appreciation and hunger. “You’re perfect,” he murmured, his voice filled with sincerity and adoration.
“Thank you, Doctor,” she whispered, feeling her heart swell at his words.
He stepped back slightly, adopting a more clinical demeanor as he continued the game. “Now that you're comfortable, I’ll need to assess your overall well-being,” Alden said, his tone a mix of playful seriousness and genuine desire. He knelt before her, his hands lightly resting on her knees as he gazed up at her. “Let’s begin with a basic check-up, shall we?”
She nodded, her breath catching in her throat as she anticipated his next move. The intensity of his gaze made her feel vulnerable, yet deeply desired, and she couldn’t help but tremble slightly under his touch.
Alden slowly ran his hands up her legs, his fingers brushing lightly over her skin, sending shivers through her body. He paused at her thighs, his hands resting there as he leaned in closer. “You seem tense,” he observed, his voice soft and soothing. “We can’t have that, now can we?”
“No, Doctor,” she replied, her voice barely above a whisper.
“I’ll need to check your pulse,” he said, a hint of a smile playing on his lips as he brought his hand to the side of her neck, his fingers pressing gently against her pulse point. His touch was firm yet tender, his eyes never leaving hers as he counted the beats, feeling the rapid thrum beneath her skin.
“Your heart is racing,” he murmured, his voice low. "Have you been experiencing any... excitement lately?"
She bit her lip, trying to maintain her composure under his intense gaze. "Only since you arrived, Doctor,"
He smiled, proudly. "I see. Perhaps a more thorough examination is in order."
His hand trailed down from her neck to her collarbone, then lower, brushing lightly over her breasts. Her breath hitched again as his fingers traced the curve of her body, his touch sending sparks of pleasure through her.
“Lie back,” he instructed, his voice firm but gentle.
She did as he asked, lying back on the bed, her heart pounding in her chest. Alden leaned over her, his hands roaming her body with a practiced ease that made her feel both cherished and thoroughly examined. He ran his hands over her arms, her sides, her stomach, pausing occasionally as if to make a mental note of her reactions.
“You’re responding well to the treatment,” he remarked, his voice filled with satisfaction. “But I think we need to be thorough. Can’t leave any stone unturned.”
“Yes, Doctor,” she whispered, her voice trembling with anticipation.
Alden moved lower, his hands sliding down to her hips, then to her thighs, spreading them gently apart. She gasped at the intimate contact, her body instinctively responding to his touch. He looked up at her, his eyes dark with desire, yet maintaining the playful pretense of his role.
“Now, let’s check your reflexes,” he said, his voice husky. He ran his hands up and down her inner thighs, his fingers grazing her most sensitive areas but never quite touching where she needed him most. It was a deliberate tease, and she felt her body grow more desperate for him with each passing second.
She moaned softly, her hips involuntarily lifting toward him, seeking more of his touch. Alden smirked at her reaction, clearly enjoying the effect he was having on her. “Sensitive, I see. That’s good. Very good.”
“Please, Doctor,” she whispered, her voice edged with desperation.
He raised an eyebrow, feigning surprise. “Please what, Miss? You’ll have to be more specific if you want me to administer the correct treatment.”
“Touch me,” she pleaded, her voice trembling with need. “I need you to touch me.”
Alden’s expression softened, the playful dominance giving way to something deeper. “As you wish,” he murmured, his voice filled with tenderness and desire.
He positioned himself between her legs, his eyes locked on hers as he lowered his head. The anticipation built within her, her entire body trembled with expectation. He started by kissing the inside of her thigh, his lips soft and warm, but it was the feel of his beard that had her writhing beneath him. The rough texture against her sensitive skin sent waves of pleasure coursing through her, making her moan softly.
“You’re already so wet,” he observed, his voice thick with desire. “Do you need this that badly?”
“Yes,” she breathed, her voice barely audible. “I need you, Alden.”
He paused for a moment, savoring the sound of her saying his name in such a vulnerable, needy tone. It made his heart swell with affection, and his own desire grew stronger. Without another word, he slipped a finger inside her, drawing a deep moan from her lips as her body arched off the bed.
“Is this what you needed?” he asked, his tone a mix of tenderness and authority as he began to move his finger inside her, slow and deliberate.
“Yes, Doctor,” she replied, her voice shaking with pleasure. “It feels so good…”
Alden smiled, adding a second finger, curling them inside her to find that perfect spot.
“God, Alden!” She cried out, her hands gripping the sheets as he continued to work her with practiced precision. He watched her face, drinking in every expression, every gasp, every shudder of pleasure.
“You’re doing so well,” he murmured, his voice low and soothing. “I think we’re making great progress.”
She could only moan in response, her body trembling with each wave of pleasure that washed over her. “Please don’t stop.” she gasped, her body already teetering on the edge.
Alden increased the pace of his fingers, his thumb finding her clit and applying just the right amount of pressure. The combination was too much, and she felt closer to the edge when suddenly, he stopped moving and withdrew his fingers
“Fuck!” she moaned loudly in frustration.
He couldn’t help but smile at her reaction, “Patient, Miss. Let the doctor do his work,” he teased, his voice thick with amusement and desire.
Her annoyance quickly faded as he pressed his lips against her most sensitive spot. He kissed her there softly at first, his beard brushing against her with every movement, each sensation heightened by the roughness of his facial hair. It was an exquisite kind of torture, the combination of softness and roughness.
Alden seemed to know exactly what he was doing to her, and he reveled in her reactions. His tongue flicked out, teasing her gently, while his beard provided an entirely different kind of stimulation. She moaned, her hands gripping the sheets as she tried to control the overwhelming sensations building within her.
“Good girl,” he murmured against her, the praise sending a fresh wave of arousal through her. “You’re doing so well. But I’m not done with you yet.”
His tongue began to move with more purpose, lapping at her with a rhythm that was both relentless and gentle. The combination of his skilled mouth and the delicious friction of his beard was too much. She felt herself spiraling, the pleasure mounting with every passing second.
“Alden, please…” she gasped, her body trembling as she teetered on the brink.
“Not yet,” he said, pulling back slightly to look up at her, his eyes dark and intense. “I want to hear you beg for it.”
The command in his voice sent a shiver down her spine. She wanted to protest, to tell him she was already so close, but the way he was looking at her made her want to submit, to give him what he wanted.
“Please, Doctor,” she begged, her voice trembling with need. “I need you… please…”
“Good girl,” he murmured, clearly satisfied with her submission. “Now, let’s finish this examination.”
He returned to his task with renewed intensity, his mouth and beard working in tandem to drive her over the edge. This time, he didn’t hold back, his tongue moving faster, his beard rubbing against her with every movement.
She felt the pleasure build and build until it became unbearable. “Fuck, Alden!”
Her body convulsed as waves of ecstasy crashed over her, her breath coming in ragged gasps as she rode out the intense pleasure. Alden didn’t stop, his mouth and beard continuing their assault until she was completely spent, her body limp and trembling.
Finally, he pulled back, a satisfied smile on his lips as he looked up at her. “I think that’s one successful treatment,” he said, his voice laced with satisfaction.
She could only nod, her breath still coming in short gasps as she tried to recover. He climbed up onto the bed beside her, pulling her into his arms and holding her close as her breathing gradually returned to normal.
He kissed her forehead, his touch tender and loving as he whispered, “You did so well, my love. I’m so proud of you.”
She smiled, nuzzling against his chest, feeling a deep sense of contentment wash over her. “Thank you, Alden… I mean, Doctor,” she added with a playful grin.
Alden chuckled, his arms tightening around her. “You’re very welcome, Miss. I’m always here to take care of you.”
They lay there together for a while, the warmth of their connection lingering in the air. But Alden wasn’t done yet. He had more in mind, and he could tell by the way she was looking at him that she was ready for whatever came next.
“I think there’s still some follow-up treatment we need to take care of,” Alden murmured, his voice once again taking on that authoritative tone that sent shivers down her spine.
“Oh?” she replied, her eyes lighting up with anticipation. “And what kind of treatment might that be, Doctor?”
Alden smirked, moving so that he was hovering over her, his body pressing her gently into the mattress. “Something a little more intensive,” he whispered, his lips brushing against hers. “Something to make sure you’re fully recovered.”
She moaned softly as his hands began to roam her body again, his touch confident and possessive. “I think I might need that, Doctor,” she whispered back, her voice filled with desire.
Alden kissed her deeply, his hands exploring every inch of her body as he prepared to give her exactly what she needed. He pulled back slightly, his eyes locking onto hers as he positioned himself at her entrance.
“I want you to tell me how it feels,” he murmured, his voice low and commanding. “I want to hear every sound you make, every word that slips from your lips.”
She nodded, her breath hitching as she felt him begin to push inside her, filling her completely. She gasped at the sensation, her body stretching to accommodate him, the feeling of him inside her both intense and deeply satisfying.
“Oh, Alden,” she moaned, her voice trembling with pleasure. “It feels… it feels so good.”
“Good,” he replied, his voice rough with emotion as he began to move, slow and deliberate, each thrust drawing soft cries of pleasure from her lips.
He watched her closely, every little reaction making his desire burn hotter. He loved the way she responded to him, the way her body moved with his, the way she called out his name with such raw need.
“Does it feel good, darling?” he asked, his voice low and intimate.
“Yes, so good,” she breathed, her hands gripping his shoulders as he moved within her, the pleasure building once again with each deep, deliberate thrust.
Alden increased his pace, his thrusts becoming more forceful, more desperate as he felt his own need rising. He wanted to lose himself in her, to feel every part of her, to give her everything he had.
“Come for me again,” he whispered, his voice thick with desire. “I want to feel you come around me.”
Her breath caught in her throat at his words, her body already teetering on the edge of another orgasm. She moaned loudly, her nails digging into his back as she let herself go, her body shuddering with pleasure as she came, hard and intense.
Alden groaned, the sensation of her tightening around him pushing him over the edge. He thrust deeply into her one final time, feeling her muscles clench around him as he reached his own climax. His release was powerful, his body trembling as he emptied himself inside her, a deep groan escaping his lips. The intensity of the moment was overwhelming, the connection between them stronger than ever as they rode the waves of pleasure together.
Alden held her close, their bodies still entwined as they came down from the high of their lovemaking. He could feel her heart pounding against his chest, her breaths coming in short, ragged gasps as she tried to regain her composure. He pressed gentle kisses to her forehead, her cheeks, her lips, whispering words of love and affection as they lay there, basking in the afterglow.
She smiled up at him, her eyes filled with contentment and adoration. “That was… incredible,” she whispered, her voice soft and filled with awe.
“You’re incredible,” Alden replied, his voice tender and sincere. He brushed a strand of hair away from her face, his fingers lingering on her skin as he gazed down at her. “I’m so lucky to have you.”
Her heart swelled at his words, and she reached up to cup his face in her hands, pulling him down for a slow, lingering kiss. “I’m the lucky one,” she murmured against his lips, her eyes shining with love.
They lay there together, wrapped in each other’s arms, the world outside fading away as they savored the closeness of the moment. It was as if time had stopped, leaving them in their own little bubble of happiness and contentment.
After a while, Alden shifted slightly, rolling onto his side and pulling her with him so they were lying face to face. He ran his fingers lightly over her arm, his touch gentle and soothing. “How are you feeling, my love?” he asked, his voice soft and caring.
She smiled, feeling a warmth spread through her at the concern in his voice. “I feel wonderful,” she replied, her tone filled with contentment.
He grinned, his heart swelling with pride at her words. “I’m glad,” he said, leaning in to press a soft kiss to her lips. "You know," he said, a playful tone creeping into his voice, "I think we might need to schedule regular follow-up appointments."
She giggled, her fingers dancing over his chest. "Oh? And how often would you recommend, Doctor?"
"Daily, at least," he replied, his eyes twinkling with mischief. "Perhaps even more frequently, depending on how well you respond to treatment."
"Daily?" she teased, arching an eyebrow. "Are you sure you can handle that, Doctor? That’s quite a demanding schedule."
He grinned, his hand sliding down to rest on her hip. "For you? I’d happily clear my calendar."
She laughed softly, the sound like music to his ears. "Well, in that case, I think I’ll have to take full advantage of your services."
"Anytime, anywhere," he murmured, his voice dropping to a more serious tone as he gazed into her eyes.
Alden’s heart swelled with emotion, his love for her feeling almost too big to contain. He kissed her again, slow and sweet, pouring everything he felt into that one gesture. When they finally pulled apart, he rested his forehead against hers, their breaths mingling in the small space between them.
"You should get some rest," he murmured, his voice filled with concern and affection.
She nodded sleepily, her body finally succumbing to the exhaustion that had been kept at bay by the intensity of their night together. "Hold me?" she asked softly, her voice barely a whisper.
"Always," he replied, his arms tightening around her as he settled them both under the covers.
With a contented sigh, she closed her eyes, a small smile playing on her lips as she drifted off to sleep, safe and warm in his embrace. Alden watched her for a while, his heart swelling with love and gratitude for the woman in his arms.
Eventually, he allowed his own eyes to close, the rhythm of her breathing lulling him into a deep, peaceful sleep. And as they slept, wrapped in the warmth of their love, the world outside faded away, leaving only the two of them, together and complete.

Dreams swallow you whole the moment you experience them. They can be quite sweet, showing you happy moments, foolish desires and moments you might have cherished from your past. But sometimes your dreams become twisted. Sometimes scenarios flash before your eyes, shameful moments you can't control. One in particular has you screaming. The dream itself began intensely, the Section Commander had you pinned against a wall, hands eagerly holding you, while his lips sucked on your neck. You can't really remember how that scene turned into a bloody and disgusting one. You've dreamed of Mike being caught between titans, his screams still haunting you and vivid images of him being torn apart and eaten won't let you go. Right now you are shivering, breathless with panic, tears streaming down your pale cheeks. The whole women's barracks has been frightened to death by your agonized cries, and it's not long before Captain Levi bursts into the barracks, closely followed by Hange.
His usually spotless shirt is half unbuttoned and hangs loosely around his heaving chest. He fell asleep on his desk an hour ago, papers under his head and nightmares haunting him. The moment he heard blood curdling screams, he knew it wasn't his demons. He was awake in seconds, grabbed his beloved knife and ran after the unbearable screams. Levi thought at first that someone had broken into the sleeping quarters of his female subordinates, but there was no stranger or fellow soldier disturbing the young women. There is only you, screaming and kicking, your back arched up, your chest rounded. Your eyes are rolled into the back of your head and there is a thin line of blood running down your face, coming from your nose. Emma gently tries to shake you awake, but it takes more than that. It's a disturbing image and Levi rushes to your side, his knife hidden in his trouser pocket.
"What happened?" He kneels at your side, the question directed at Emma, who has small tears in her eyes.
"I don't know, she just started screaming." She cries, her fists clenching your nightgown. When Levi was a child, he saw one of his mother's colleagues have a similar episode. His mother never gave it a name, but mentioned that it was a sleeping disorder. Unable to calm her down, or even wake her up, the Captain lets out a frustrated breath and pulls his arm back. With a quick movement, he swings it back and strikes your cheekbone with such force that you are instantly jolted awake.
No one seems to understand why you are crying or screaming so bitterly. Hange even suggests that you are possessed by a demon, but Levi is simply frightened by the sight of you. The plague of your lost memories must have really screwed with your head, and he still doesn't know what happened to you. Your eyes are wide open and full of pain as you stare at him with your mouth open. Confusion, shock and fear are written all over your features. Then it hits you.
You can't stop crying, muttering about Mike being torn to pieces, trying to convince Captain Levi and Section Commander Hange that Mike is dead.
"We should take her to the nurse." Levi mumbles and carefully urges you to stand up and leads you out of the barracks. Your skin is cold, but your whole body is covered in sweat, as if you've been drenched in freezing water.
"Can you hear me, Faye?" He asks, but doesn't get an answer. "This is new." He thinks bitterly and shakes his head in frustration. He has seen soldiers plagued by nightmares, after all, he himself is haunted by them. Some comrades even suffer from night terrors, their cries similar to yours, but they run around the headquarters disoriented and can't remember it the next day. Your incident is different. Eyes rolled back, stiff with fear, almost suffocating. Did you experience sleep paralysis?
Deep in thought, he barely notices that you've stopped crying and started to speak in a raspy voice that almost crushes him.
"Mike is dead." Levi lets out a sigh and grips your shoulder tighter.
"No, he's not. He's sleeping." He promises, desperately hoping to avoid an argument, but it only seems to confuse you more.
"I heard his screams, his bones breaking and saw his flesh being torn. I smelled his blood." You swallow hard and walk weakly with him, not questioning where he is leading you.
"It was a nightmare. The nurse will give you something to calm you down." He promises and, to your surprise, gently strokes the tangled hair behind your ear. He can't help but to think that you look beautiful like this, weak and in desperate need of help. Levi gulps, giving himself mentally a slap. He certainly must be experiencing sleeplessness.
"It felt too real." He doesn't know how to answer, it wouldn't do to reassure you of the delusional night attack you've suffered. So he silently leads you through the corridors, the many possible scenarios making him anxious, and after explaining the situation to your nurse, he leaves you in her care, sitting silently by your side to watch over you. He will not let this happen again.
After hearing about your incident, Mike had to go and collect you in the hospital wing. You were still asleep, due to the medication you had been given, and at your side sat Levi, fast asleep in a chair, much to his surprise. As he entered, the black-haired soldier opened his eyes and let out a deep groan as he realized where he was.
"I didn't expect to find you here." He whispers and slowly walks over to your recumbent body, a small smile on his lips at the sight and smell of you.
"I was waiting for her to have another attack." He explains simply, not bothering to speak in a hushed voice.
"What exactly happened?" The Section Commander wants to know, Hange wasn't really specific, only spoke of 'demonic possession' and Mike doubts that an angel like you would have such tendencies.
"Fuck, if I know." Levi scoffs and stretches his arms, walking past Mike to leave the hospital wing immediately.
"Make sure she doesn't fall off her horse. She's an incompetent rider."
You wake up, rub your eyes and briefly notice someone leaving as you turn your attention to the other man in your room. At the sight of him, something in your chest tightens, making you sit up immediately.
"I overslept, didn't I?" You squeak, your voice hoarse and your cheek painful. Did someone hit you? As you touch your cheek, Mike gently takes your chin between his fingers and moves your head up so he can see the bruised skin.
"Levi got you good, Hugh? You must be a fast sleeper." Confused, you lock eyes with him and then the memories of last night hit you. Stiffening at his touch, your eyes widen and your lips part.
"I- Section Commander, you..." unable to form a sentence without stuttering, Mike slowly steps back, giving you some space.
"Relax. You can tell me everything when we get to the Southern Division. Get dressed. We'll leave in ten minutes."
━━━━━━━༺ - ༻━━━━━━━
The journey has been tiring, and after what seems like a whole day, you can finally see the headquarters of the Cadet Corps from afar. You told him about the dream, obviously leaving out the first, more pleasant part. That would have been inappropriate, after all, he is a high-ranking Section Commander and you are just a cadet. However, he had been a bit flirtatious with you in the last few days, which even the Commander had noticed.
"Write down everything you can remember. Leave out no details. If you don't send a report, Erwin will probably send Levi to motivate you." He explains, smiling at the conflicted face you make at the mention of the Captain's name.
"And if I experience something similar to yesterday?" The thought of experiencing something similar, especially in front of strangers, frightens you. You're actually glad that the nightmare you experienced was the last night with the scouts, they'll surely forget about it in the next three years, right?
"Personally, I don't think it's that important, but Erwin would want to know. He's infatuated with everything you do, it seems." Mike explains, shuddering slightly at his own observation. It's true, you think, Erwin has been strangely interested in your mere existence ever since Eld found you. He is obsessed with you. Not in a romantic or sexual way, no, he rather likes the feeling of having found a mysterious thing like you. It pushes him, urges him to find out all your hidden memories, just like Levi, although the little man is not as fascinated by you as his Commander. At least you hope that's the case, as the Captain seems to have a sick fascination with making you suffer. You don't answer Section Commander Mike, instead you sink into your thoughts and let them consume you.
Would it be a stupid idea to choose a division other than the Survey Corps? It would definitely hurt the Commander's ego, pride and hostility. Besides, it would be in your own interest to find out more about your past, and you feel that the Scouts are the only ones who can help you. You don't seem to have any chance of getting into the Military Police Regiment anyway, and the garrison is your only other alternative. To be honest, you are not even sure what they do, you have only heard about them a few times from Commander Erwin. The closer you got to the southern training corps, the more nervous you became. Eren Yeager could be the key to your mind, and you really hope he can unlock that stupid dark hole in your head.
You are greeted by a bald man with an expression that challenges Levi's. He looks from you to Mike, a deep glare in his almost angry face.
"Erwin better have a good reason." He spits and watches you, making you wonder how much he has been told about you.
"What's your name, cadet?" He asks and you instantly freeze at his tone and salute him as Levi taught you. Your right hand, clenched into a fist, moves to your chest while your left automatically rests behind your back.
"Faye, sir." He looks at you suspiciously, glancing at Mike.
"What, no last name? Don't tell me she's like Levi, I don't need two of that bloody midgets." You wonder what he means by that and furrow your brow, noticing that the Captain is only referred to by his first name. Strange indeed, has he lost his memory too?
"Engel. Her name is Faye Engel." Mike makes up his mind in seconds and puts a hand on your shoulder, patting it lightly.
"Forgive her, Commander. Levi hit her pretty hard in training. You won't regret taking her on." He promises and begins to list your skills, or lack thereof.
"She showed promising talent in the ODM, is patient and obedient. Also willing to learn, you won't have much trouble with her." Shadis nods his head in silence, finally letting you relax.
"Alright. Follow me, Cadet Engel. You'll be introduced to your new comrades." Turning to Mike, you smile at him and wave goodbye.
"Thanks for everything, Section Commander! I won't let you down, I promise." His thin lips form a smile and he hums in agreement.
"Don't be afraid to write to me sometime, little angel." With that, the two of you say goodbye and you follow your new commander to a wooden building, a blush on your cheeks and your heart beating against your chest. A simple crush can't hurt, can it?"
Following Shadis into the building, you are greeted by a raucous group of teenagers who make you instantly regret your decision.
"Get down!" The Commander's voice is loud and aggressive, and it's impressive to see all the young soldiers in training stiffen under the demand, their voices shut and their eyes wide open, staring at the Commander and at you.
"This is Cadet Engel. From now on she will be part of your training. Ackerman, show her around." A girl with beautiful black hair and pale skin stands up, her face emotionless, and walks in your direction. A red scarf adorns her neck, and as you get closer you notice that her eyes and nose are slightly different. You believe that her ancestors came from the eastern world, and you look at her beautiful hair with fascination.
"I am Mikasa." Stoic, cold and rather shy, she introduces herself to you, hiding her face in her scarf.
"Faye." You introduce yourself, feeling like a liar for using the made-up name.
"You can join us for lunch." She offers quietly, turning quickly to one of the tables. You follow her without a word, feeling like a puppy on a list with all eyes on you. At first you thought you were the oldest here, but as you approach the row of tables where Mikasa sat just seconds ago, you notice two young men who seem to be closer to your age. The black-haired man introduces them to you as Reiner and Bertolt. Across from them are Jean and Connie. A girl with a great appetite for potatoes waves to you. "This is Sasha." Mikasa adds with a roll of the eyes. At the same table, but at a considerable distance from the others, are two girls; one with a rude expression, the other with a warm smile. Her name is Krista, while the brown-haired older girl's name, to your surprise, is Ymir.
“Armin.” She points at a young, blonde haired boy with blue eyes and rosy cheeks. He appears too innocent to be enlisted in the military, much like the Krista girl. You then turn your head, meeting a pair of green eyes. Breath hitching in your throat, the boy's eyes widen at you. You recognize him from your dreams, though that joyful youthfulness in his face is gone.
"Eren?" You ask in awe as he nods his head.
"I'm sorry, I can't remember your name, but I know you." He says, seemingly deep in thought.
"I'm from Shiganshina." You speak, a sinking feeling in your stomach.
"Maybe we lived in the same neighborhood?" He offers, looking at Armin and Mikasa.
"Right guys?" The blonde just shakes his head in confusion, wondering if he might have seen you before. Mikasa on the other hand just shrugs.
"Your- ugh father. He was my mothers doctor." You explain and take the seat Reiner offers you. It feels so easy for you to spread these beliefs, and yet you don't even know how many of the scenarios you've dreamed are actually true. You figured now would be the best idea to challenge them. He eagerly nods his head, agreeing that he might have met you that way before. If they were not to be true, Eren would ask whatever you ment. While dreams are the door to your memories, they can also inundate you with twisted images of your past. After the hour-long journey, Eren offers you a roll, insisting that you need something to eat. Finally agreeing, you reach your hand across the table, ready to gratefully take it from him. As your fingers touch, something strange happens, something that makes electricity shoot through your body and for a moment you see a strange image before your eyes. Eren, a little older than he is now, is standing on a wall, looking into the distance. Directly behind him a monstrous titan, glowing with heat, flesh burned from his body, leaving nothing but muscles. The colossal titan.
Eren lets go of the roll and gulps at you, as if he had been struck by lightning. At that moment you realise that he must have seen and felt that too, whatever it was.
"Sorry." He breathes and picks up the bread as an awkward silence consumes both of you.
"It slipped." The boy tries to rush an apology and quickly puts it in your hand, grinning uncomfortably. While Connie jokes about Eren being stupidly in love, you feel someone's eyes on you, but the moment you turn your head, that feeling is gone. You had that strange feeling twice before, once with Captain Levi, the other time for a brief moment when Section Commander Hange ruffled your hair. Both times you saw images flash past your mind's eye, but the strange images you saw with Levi have stayed with you the most. It was the day he checked your legs for marks, and whatever he did to you, you didn't like it at all. Intimidating scenarios, situations over which you had no control. It was shameful, unspeakable things you saw, much worse than what you had dreamed about Mike.
You used to think it was the way he dared to touch you, but now you are sure it was something else. And it certainly wasn't lost memories.

Suptober 2023-Day 14: Fever
Feel Better 721 words on AO3 or below. Summary: Dean notices something is off with Cas
Dean and Cas were in the Dean Cave with Cas stretched out on the couch, his head in Dean’s lap. Usually it was the other way around but Dean realized he might like this arrangement more. He got to look down and stare at him without being embarrassed at being caught, he got to run his hands through his hair, yeah it was a nice set up. His relaxing pastime was interrupted by Cas turning over to have another coughing fit.
“You ok?” Dean questioned. “You’ve been coughing all day.”
“I’m fine.” He replied, trying to stifle another cough. “It’s just allergies. It’s dusty here.”
“Uh huh.” Dean kept the bunker clean. There was no dust in here, thank you very much. He let his hand slip from Cas’ hair to his forehead. Just as he suspected, it was warm.
“Hey, Cas, how you feeling?” He asked innocently.
“Still fine. A little cold actually.” He said with a shiver.
Dean reached back for the blanket and covered him. Cas pulled it tight, snuggling into it. That confirms it, thought Dean, he’s sick. Cas started coughing again.
“I think you’re sick.” Dean said, gently.
Cas scoffed. “Dean, don’t be ridiculous. I’m an angel, I don’t get sick.”
“An angel whose grace levels are inconsistent at best. The witness you interviewed the other day was sick. You probably got it from them.”
Cas tried to get up but Dean could see it wasn’t easy, as if the simple act of sitting up was tiring. “I’m not sick.”
Dean could see where this was going. “You know,” he said casually, “I think I’m ready to go to the room. What about you?”
“But this episode isn’t over?” He said confused. “I thought you wanted to catch up on Dr. Sexy.”
“I do but I kinda got distracted on my phone. I don’t really know what’s happening anymore, we can watch it later.”
Cas shrugged. “Ok, if you say so.”
It took all of five minutes for Cas to fall asleep once they got to the room. Dean carefully got out of bed and headed to the kitchen. He would be ready with soup and cold medication for Cas when he got up. He could protest all he wanted but Dean knew cold symptoms when he saw them. The make of a true Winchester, always in denial when sick and Dean guessed, a terrible patient too.
Finally, about two hours later Cas stirred. “Hey sleepy head, how are you feeling?”
Cas groaned. “I’m fine, Dean. I was just tired.”
Dean laughed. “I know you’re sick. You know you’re sick. You just don’t want to admit it. So we’re going to take your temperature,” he held up the thermometer, “and before you say anything about how you’re an angel and could just tell me I want to see it myself cause I don’t trust you to tell me the truth.”
‘I wouldn’t lie.” Cas protested weakly.
“You would,” Dean insisted, “because if you’re sick that means your grace situation is probably getting worse. I know you think not having your grace makes you useless on hunts but I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I don’t care about that and I never have.” He squeezed Cas’ hand. “Now this is the part where I would kiss you but I don’t want to get sick.” He laughed.
Cas tried laughing but it quickly turned into another coughing fit.
“Now let’s take your temperature.” Dena handed him the thermometer.
Cas sighed. “That won’t be necessary, it’s 100.7. You were right, I’m sick. And you were correct about my reasons for not wanting to acknowledge it.”
Dean gave Cas’ hand a quick kiss. “And we’ll talk more about that when you’re better, I promise.” He motioned for Cas to sit up. “But first take these.” He handed him a glass of water. “I don’t know if these will even work with your grace but it won’t hurt. I also made soup earlier so I'm going to grab a bowl for you now.”
Cas took the pills without complaint. “Thank you, Dean.”
“Of course,” he said sincerely, “and who knows, your grace might kick in soon and you’ll be better in no time, but first soup.”
Cas heard the unsaid I’ll take care of you until then.

Not on my watch
Tumblr media
A/N: okayyyyy so I don't nor have I ever played COD before so I don't know Ghost's background or story but I have read so many fan fictions that I thought I'd give it a try!
I watched the episode of Rick and Morty where Morty gets assaulted by a Jellybean, and when I seen the part where Rick takes notice of what happened (see pic below for reference) I couldn't help but think what if Rick was Ghost and Morty was the reader. So long story short, here is a lil story based off a somewhat similar concept!
Tumblr media
Trigger warnings: swearing, violence, drug/alcohol use, mentions of a shitty abusive ex boyfriend, and somewhat assault (non-consenting waist/wrist grabbing).
Protective!Simon "Ghost" Riley x Fem!Reader
This has NOT been proofread.
This might be shit but I still hope you enjoy!
Like, reblog, and follow!
"For the love of god woman! Will you hurry it up!" Soap yelled from the bottom of the stairs.
"I will be down in just a minute!" I responded which in return resulted in Soap groaning. Slipping on my heels and touching up my makeup, I made one last glance in the mirror before making my way downstairs. "Alright, I'm ready!" The boys turned around to face me, whistling as they laid their eyes on me.
"Well, hello sexy mama!" Soap yelled off, followed by a wolf whistle.
"Keep it in your pants, I'm not interested." Looking over, I seen Ghost looking me up and down, I gave him a smirk and a wink in response while he just stared back.
"Let's go already!" Soap sang, wrapping his arm around my shoulders as we all made our way to the door.
Once we made it to the club, the boys and I headed for a booth in the far back.
"Alright, first round is on (Y/N)!" Soap announced taking a seat, pushing further into the booth so I could take a seat, I spoke up.
"Oh how sweet of you to offer," I began sarcastically. "What does everyone want?" I questioned looking between them.
"I'll take a jack and coke." Soap began, scoping out the crowd. "But first, move. I see some pretty ladies that could use my company." Nearly pushing me out of the boot, I stood up and let him out.
"Make that two." Ghost added, staring at me. I nodded with a smile before making my way to the bar.
"Hey, can I get three jack and cokes!" I yelled over the loud music to the bartender. I stood and waited at the bar for my drinks when I felt someone press up behind me.
"Funny seeing you, here." I immediately felt my heart stop and a cold shiver run down my spine when I heard his voice. Forgetting my drinks, I attempted to make my way from the bar until I felt a tight grip on my waist. "Not so fast, where do you think you're going?" He questioned as the bartender returned with my drinks. I looked at the bartender with a small smile before reaching into my purse to grab some cash to pay.
"Let go of me." I uttered out through gritted teeth, trying to not cause a scene. Leaning down, he pushed my hair off my shoulder and lowered his lips to my ear.
"Oh no, baby girl. I didn't that once before and I lost you. I won't be doing it again." I frantically looked around, to see if I could catch someone's attention, to show I needed help but in a packed club, I learned I was utterly alone.
"Please, you don't have to do this. Just let me go and we'll forget it ever happened." I felt his grip tighten more, there would be bruises left as a reminder of him.
"Forget what? How you ran away? Off to work on some military base and whore yourself out to anybody who would give you a second glance." I felt tears forming in my eyes,
"It's not like that, I left because I had too. I left for work." I stated, continuing to scope the crowd for a glimpse of Soap or someone that could help.
"I saw those two guys you walked in with, did you whore yourself out to them? Huh?" Before I could respond, the bartender returned with my drinks. Reaching down into my purse, I pulled out some cash and paid the tab. "Buying drinks for them? What a good little whore you are." Tears streamed down my face.
"Please, just leave me alone. I won't say anything, just let me go." This time he chuckled while beginning to stand up.
"Not a chance, now that I got a hold of you." He pulled me into him, letting of my waist to take ahold of my wrist, "I'm never letting you go." As soon as he let go of my waist, I took a hold of one of the jack and cokes and threw it into his face, I took this as my chance to make a run for it. I spotted Ghost alone at a far booth in the corner and I made it my mission to reach him. Sprinting through the crowd, tears streamed down my face as I reach him.
"(Y/N), where wer-. What's wrong? What happened?" His voice was full of concern as I took a hold of his arm and held on.
"Please, take me home. Please, Simon, please." I begged, my voice cracking more and more with each word until I was full on sobbing into his chest. I felt him wrap an arm around my waist and pull me in closer, he didn't speak. It wasn't until I heard footsteps approaching and the sound of Soap's voice filling my ears and breaking the silence.
"What happened? Is she alright?" But he didn't respond, instead he stood up and passed me over to Soap.
"Take her home, now." Simon spoke with a firm tone.
"Okay, but where are you going?" I glanced up from Soap's arms to see Ghost staring back at me.
"To take care of some business. Now, get her home. That's an order." And with that Ghost turned and walked away, disappearing into the crowd. I turned back around, and follow Soap out of the club and into a cab.
Later that night, Soap passed out in his room and I stayed on the couch waiting of Ghost to return. It was around two am when the sound of the door handle startled me out of my thoughts.
"Simon?" I looked up to see his tall muscular frame, pushing the door closed.
"(Y/N), what are you still doing up?" He questioned, making his way to the couch and taking a seat. The skull masked covered half of his face but the dim light from the TV illuminated his blue eyes. Trailing my eyes further down his frame, I took notice of his busted and bleeding knuckles.
"Oh my god, what happened to you?" I questioned, ignoring his question and standing up to kneel in front of him to get a better look at his hands.
"Nothing, you need to worry about." He said reaching down to take ahold of my waist to help me up. I winced at the pressure from his hands, to which he took note of. "What's wrong?" He questioned, once I stood up.
"Nothing, now tell me what happened." I stated, reaching for his hands but before I could, he reached up and lifted up my shirt revealing the bruises left behind by (Y/E/N).
"Did he do this to you?" I looked away from him, pushing my shirt down.
"It's okay, I need to worry about you." Ghost stood up and took a hold of my face between his hands.
"(Y/N)." I let out a sigh.
"Yes." I looked up to see his bright blue eyes staring back at me.
"I promise, he will never lay a hand on you again." Without questioning him further and putting two and two together, I nodded in response. Staring back at Ghost, I watched his eyes glance at my lips before back at me.
Taking the initiative I leaned in.

omg hi i’m new to your blog and idk if you take requests/prompts, if not just ignore this. but if you do you’ll you mind writing something about the very first time Vex hears Percy sing? :)
So, this was supposed to be a short thing. Turned into something else. Also, shout out to @burr-ell who gave me the correct episode for the scene with the celestial.
-
The first time Vex hears Percy sing, Vox Machina is in a tavern. Their bodies are sore and tired, and they are all more than a little tipsy.
Somehow, Scanlan winds up leading everyone in a rousing drinking song. The words are suggestive and fun, and Vex feels a little better as she finds herself singing along. As the crowd grows more boisterous, a soft humming next to her catches her attention.
It takes her a second to realize that Percy is singing too.  She turns toward him, her eyebrows raising in shock. “Percy, I never knew you had it in you.”
“I’m full of surprises.”
“Apparently.”
-
The next time is an accident.
She’s passing Percy’s room one night and hears a soft voice singing. It catches her off guard, but not because it sounds bad. He has a lovely voice. No, what surprises her is the words that speak of the future in a way that sounds almost hopeful.
It makes her smile.
Percy has been doing a bit better since they reclaimed Whitestone. The shadows under his eyes are a little lighter, and his smiles seem less forced. It makes her hopeful that the darkness that haunted him is starting to lessen. She’ll still keep a close eye on him, but at least he seemed to be heading in the right direction.
She finds herself humming the tune as she walks to her bedroom.
-
Pike is trying to bring a child back from the dead. As she is singing in Celestial, Percy joins in. Though his voice is tentative at first, he gains confidence with every passing moment. She doesn’t know what they are saying, but the tune is almost otherworldly, and for a moment, she thinks she hears a third, sourceless voice.
It’s haunting, but it also might be one of the most beautiful things she’s ever heard.
Vex watches, enraptured as Pike and Percy continue to sing, their faces softly illuminated by the golden light of Pike’s holy symbol. Percy appears focused, but there’s something else, too. A softness, a beckoning warmth. When the song ends and the child breathes, everyone in Vox Machina sighs in relief.
It’s only then that Vex realizes she’s been crying. She wipes her eyes as subtly as possible but sees Vax watching her curiously.
She ignores him.
-
They are lying side by side in her bed. Percy’s skin is warm against hers, and his head is resting against her shoulder.
Vex hums contently. “That was fun.”
“It was,” Percy agrees as he kisses her palm.  “You know, I should make you a ring now that we are married.”
“It’s supposed to be a secret, Percy. Wouldn’t that be a giveaway?”
“You could wear it on a different finger.”
“True.”
He traces incomprehensible patterns on her side with his fingers, and she shivers. She looks down at him and is surprised to find that Percy is looking up at her with a thoughtful expression.
“What?”
“Rings are a human tradition. Do the elves have anything they do at their wedding ceremonies?”
“I’m sure they do, but the ones we went to were always so formal and stiff, so I never paid much attention.” Then something from her childhood sparks in her memory. “But there was a song I heard once in Byroden that I remember thinking was pretty.”
“I’d love to hear it.”
“Here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows
higher than soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart
i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart).”
There’s a moment in which the song reverberates around the room and settles in her chest. She’s not much of a singer, but Percy does not seem to mind. In fact, he’s smiling.
“That’s lovely. Will you teach it to me?”
She teaches him the words, and they sing together.
-
She can’t think. She can hardly breathe. She’s clutching Percy’s arm so tight that her knuckles are white.
“He’s gone. Vax is gone.”
“I know.” He pulls her to him, and his hand runs through her hair as she sobs. Softly, he sings the song Scanlan had composed in Vax’s memory.
It soothes, and it aches, but she listens to every word.
-
Percy sings their children to sleep. Sometimes, it's a lullaby her mother used to sing, but this evening he's singing in Celestial. She recognizes it as the same song he had sung many years ago. It still makes her cry just as it did the first time she heard it. He tucks their daughter into her crib, and when he sees her standing behind him, he comes to her and hugs her. Then he kisses her forehead and takes her hand to lead her back to bed.
-
The words of the song Vex sings are the poem entitled “I carry your heart,” written by E.E. Cummings. Which can be found here.
(I debated about keeping the styling, but I decided I wanted to.)
If you like this poem, I highly recommend the choral piece by Eric Whitacre. It’s gorgeous. You can find it here.

Can you possibly do an Eli x asmatic reader where she has nightmares at night, but ok night it gets really bad and she's crying and struggling to breathe when she wakes up. She's shaking so bad, she can't find her inhaler and Eli wakes up and is immediately In protection mode and helps her calm down, administrators the puffs from her inhaler and comforts her?
Tumblr media
It hurt so bad, all she could feel was pain blooming in her chest when she woke up. She couldn't even remember what she was dreaming of in the first place.
All she remembered was that it wasn't pleasant. But now all she could think about was the fact she couldn’t get any air into her lungs.
The room was dark and she could barely see anything. It was so hard to even think, it just hurt. Tears filled her eyes as she struggled to take in air. She knew she had to be wheezing and struggling but she couldn’t hear it. Her ears where completely shut off in that moment.
She struggled to sit up but she did, the mattress under her dipped as she threw her legs over the bed and tried to find her inhaler. She rummaged around her nightstand trying to find it. Her hands trying to work over time to find it in the mess of her drawer. She hardly noticed when the lamp on the nightstand turned on and gave her a better view.
Finally she found her inhaler.
She pulled it out and shook it for a second. She tried her best to take in air but still struggled. Her vision was growing worse by the second. The lack of oxygen making her feel weird and her brain go fuzzy along with her vision. Her eyes threatened to spill with tears as the seconds went by.
She tried her best to position the inhaler in her hand, to get a grip on it. But it kept slipping and almost fell out of her hand. She tried to uncap the protective mouth piece but it wouldn’t budge.
Suddenly a strong hand held her own that was still gripping the device.
Another hand helped to pop the cap off, letting it fall on the floor. Forgot in the moment.
The price of plastic was raised to her lips with still shaking hands but was able to push down and release the medication. She took a deep breath as she inhaled the puff of medication. Within a few moments, it started to work and her lungs slowly opened up. She wheezes but it's long and deep.
Her lungs are fully open and she can breathe again. She closes her eyes and shivers, the oxygen finally making her head stop spinning and her brain unfog.
She relaxes back into the body that was pushed up behind her. Strong muscles flex under her weight as she leans back. A naked hard chest slowly moves up and down as her partner breathes. It reminds her to try and breathe with him. Slowly she starts to even out, but she still feels completely weak. Her whole body is tired and slumped.
“You freaked me out there, thankfully I heard you wheezing and woke up.” Hawk mumbled out as he sat behind her. He takes the inhaler from her limp hand and sets it on the nightstand. He would find the cap tomorrow.
“I'm ok now.... Sorry I scared you like that.”
“It's fine, I'm just happy I woke up in time. I don't think you would have been able to open that cap on your own. You should keep your inhaler on your nightstand and not inside the drawer next time so you can get to it quicker.”
If she had the energy she would have giggled at him. But she didn't. She just laid into him and let herself sink into him. In the lamplight, she could see his pale skin and blue eyes staring at her from above. The look of worry and relief washed over him in an instant as she looked up at him.
He rubbed at her shoulders for a good minute. He didn’t want to trigger her into another episode from to much touch. He knew that to much stimulation after a episode like this could trigger another one. Her shoulder where tense under his fingers. He gently worked at them.
Slowly they started to relax under his fingers and began to soften.
“Do you want to talk about it?”
“Honestly I can't even remember what I was dreaming about.... I guess whatever it was caused me to loss it though.” she gave him a small smile before almost whispering out “ Can we just go back to bed please.”
He sighed but nodded saying “Yeah that's fine.”
He turned off the lamp before scooting back to his side. They both shimmer under the covers once again. The two of them relaxing under the soft sheets. Reader turned over into her side, it was quiet for a long time.
“Can you hold me please Eli?”
Warm arms wrapped around her from behind, turning her into a little spoon. He pulled her back against him. Her back against his chest snug and tight buy not enough to make her feel over suffocated again. She snuggled back against him, her head deep in her pillow. She could feel his warm breath fanning over her shoulder and neck as he slowly started to breath. Trying to fall asleep again.
She smiled as she closed her eyes and slowly sighed.
She let herself try and fall asleep once again, but this time with her boyfriend wrapped around her to make her feel safe.

BLEACH: The Thousand Year Blood War Ep 16 Reactions and Thoughts
Overall reaction:
Tumblr media
Another late reaction post, but considering the next episode is airing today, I had to get this out before then...also, there was no way I was doing this reaction post without gifs from this episode!
If I was blown away last week, I have lost my footing this week. OH. MY. GOD! There's was way too much good stuff this week, I don't know where to start.
Highlights:
Momo's cameo: SHE'S BAAAAAACK…for ten seconds. I'll take what I can get! What's happening with Ichigo: I mentioned my theory in the last episode reaction that Ichigo is going to the Reio's past and this is all likely a test to see if he can be as strong as Reio to take his place as part of Kyouraku's plan. Well, it looks like that's basically what's happening. He's getting visions of Reio's life and we even got the multiple irises. Is this a sign of him simply seeing into Reio's past, or is it a sign he has the potential to become the next Soul King? Toshiro vs Cang Du and the lead up: this was just top tier! Form the music, the voice acting, and the animation, it was a beautiful adaption. Seeing Toshiro's hollowfied bankai was a moment for me, because I'll forget how I reacted to seeing it for the first time in the manga all those years ago. As a Toshiro fan, seeing him struggle, especially when Rangiku was thrown down in front of him, and he was helpless to even crawl over to her, was heartbreaking.
Tumblr media
Then, to see him rise up again, with a form that looks this cool, and to take down the one that had harmed both him and Rangiku, it's one my favourite moments from the arc. Now here I am watching it ANIMATED (for, like three minutes, but who cares?!). And not just animated, but voiced. Romi Park couldn't have done a better job, and whoever thought to sync Toshiro and Hyourinmaru's voices when Hyourinmaru deserves a raise. That moment gave me the shivers, and it adds to the reveal. And just look at him!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I absolutely love how the ice has been coloured, and the small particles falling from his bankai is such a good touch. The conclusion of this fight had me sighing sadly, because I know where this goes for Toshiro and Rangiku. It was sad enough to see him stumbling and then collapsing trying to get to Rangiku, but then knowing that's Giselle's shadow and what she's about to do to him...I am both dreading and excited for zombie Hitsugaya. So then, this begs the question of will Toshiro make another appearance in this arc. The first arc adapted volumes 55 to 61 more or less, and this arc is still volume 62 if I'm not mistaken? Zombie Hitsugaya first appears in volume 65, so my guess is we will be getting an adaption of his fights against Ikkaku, Yumichika, and Mayuri in this cour. The excitement is real everyone! Shinji's shikai and bankai: the man of the hour. Fifth division's best captain. The fashion icon. The dork who spells everything backwards. The spin master himself. Shinji Hirako is here and he got his bankai animated. I knew it was coming, I had screamed during the trailer when I saw it was going to be included as part of the arc in a small way, but I still screamed when I saw and heard him activate it. When I read it in Can't Fear Your Own World, I knew I needed to see this animated, and the team behind the anime has made that happen with flying colours. Would it have been better to see him use this ability against a massive army? Of course! But the emonstration of it here was still amazing, and like with Toshiro's fight, the combination of the animation, colouring, music, and Shinji's voice actor made this scene AMAZING.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They make Shinji look like a freaking tank here (and he deserve it considering how the rest of this arc goes for him). Then there's the animation for his shikai, which was also just *chef's kiss*
Tumblr media
Sui Feng gets her bankai back: I'm not a fan of Soi Fon, but even I have to admit this scene was great. Just look at this explosion, it's epic!
Tumblr media
Mayuri the Christmas tree continues: HIS SUIT/COSTUME CAN CHANGE COLOUR?! HE REALLY IS A CHRISTMAS TREE! Shuhei, Ikkaku, and Yukichika vs Mask De Masculine: in my initial reaction, I said Sajin appeared the battle earlier than he did in the manga. My mistake, he actually does appear at this point in Shinji vs Bambietta, I had just forgotten about it. What IS early though is Shuhei, Ikkaku, and Yukichika's battle again Mask De Masculine. I'll admit it here and now that Mask is one of the few Sternritter I don't like. I found him annoying the manga, and so far, the anime hasn't really changed my opinion of him. So when I saw him appear in this episode, I cringed a little. I thought the anime wasing going to come back to him and just show he'd defeated Shuhei, Ikkaku, and Yumichika off screen like it happened in the manga. I was pleasently surprised to see this was not the case, and that we actually get to see this fight. Yes, it's going to end with the three of them defeated, but it's still great to see them in combat, showing off their skills and getting some good banter in. If nothing else, at least Hisagi gets to look cool for a couple of minutes:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Why did Yumichika get a Shin'eiyaku?!: It the question that's got the fandom scrambling for answers, and I honestly didn't notice he got one the first time I saw the episode XD
Overall, what an episode! We got at least two iconic moments here, and they happened for two of my faves! I have high expectations for the next episode, considering Momo will finally get an appearance that's more than a minute long (I hope)!

Fuji's plan (sus)
Tumblr media
It's always Momo-senpai and Eji-senpai that's been getting on his nerves. (Senpai is a term for seniors - in case some didn't know)
If he were to draw a comparison, it would be his immature father. He sighed, wondering if he was actually related to him... but he wondered if his senpais were actually Najiroh's kids... they bear an annoyingly vast similarity.
Ryoma Echizen found both Kaidou-senpai and Tezuka buchou (captain) similar - mostly buchou while Kaidou was just frightening. However, right now, he was at a loss when everyone agreed to a silly game mentioned by Fuji, unsurprisingly. He hadn't known until they started planning behind his back.
Eji's tone was puzzled, "Eh...? Lighten up Ochibi (meaning kiddo or shorty - a term of endearment)?"
Fuji said with a cool demeanour, "Mn, ever since the kantou tournaments, he's been tensed... so I really wanna see a bubbly sweet side of him"
Momoshiro gave prolonged his thoughts now. Then realised it was a good idea as he hadn't seen Echizen in such a situation. He had always been stoic like Tezuka.
"Well..." Fuji spoke up again as if he read Momo's mind "I tried this on Tezuka but... that will make us run laps... so my first thought was Echizen... even Kaidou agreed with me"
Turning to the viper kid, he glared but was unable to hide the blush of embarrassment. "Fshhhh! I want to know that brats weakness and humiliate him, I don't care about him"
Inui pushed his glasses, now having an eerie grin, which made the rest of the regulars feel uneasy. "It's good for my data... hehe"
Tezuka, on the other hand, had been eavesdropping. He turned to Oishi and then back at Echizen, destroying the second years with his serves.
Silently having a slight earnest to find out the hidden side of Echizen, he turned away. "If this goes too far, make them run twenty laps"
Oishi smiled inwardly, "Even he's got a soft side for the kohais (juniors the opposite of senpai)." he watched Tesuka, who was probably trying to observe from the background, while watching the freshmen pick up balls again.
"He said t-that...?" Kawamura stammered now, surprised by what Oishi said, the other third year shrugged with a tilted smile.
"Initiate plan... loosening up Echizen. " they silently made nods of agreement to go up against the youngest regular.
Beginning with Eji, who suddenly reached for Ryoma after his warm up Horio.
"O-chi-bi-chan~!"
Ryoma was startled, but it was a calm reaction when he felt arms from behind now ruffling his hair.
"O-Ow ow... senpai... stop that"
"Caaan't! I wanna play with you, kiddo!"
Ryoma sighed inwardly, "If its a match u want....let's do it..."
"Nooo!" Eji tightened his grip, now removing the cap, "play with you!"
Instead of being embarrassed, he was annoyed, Fuji sensed this and signed to Oishi. This time, seeing how Oishi dragged a whining-Eji by the collar made Fuji smile as he rubbed his chin with his hand. "fuuhuu... this will be interesting"
Kawamura heard Momo whisper now, "why is everything Fuji-senpai say that I get chills"
"Trust me, I do too" shivered the split-personality guy.
It was when Inui came up with jokes as Ryoma was stretching his limbs, made him realise his seniors were planning something. He was intuitive to see how they were huddled in a group now, watching him too closely even without him playing a match.
"Mattaku (jeez), what is wrong with them?"
What's stranger was when Tezuka was ignoring this slacking off technique. Was he in on this scheme? What were they planning?"
"Ne, Echizen... what do you call a fish with no eye?"
"I heard that one before, Inui-senpai"
Pushing his glasses, he crossed the joke from his notebook "Mission failed..."
Eji pouted from a distant. "Mou! Why is Ochibi being so difficult, nya?" (Note that nya is a cat term this guy uses, as an onomatopoeia ~plus its super cute).
Momo cracked his fingers... "Alright, time for me to be a big brother..."
Fuji's eyes opened now, serious "What are you doing Momo?"
"Some childish technique that worked on guys like him..."
"Oh really... is this effective to break me?"
"Ye...." Before Momo could reply with confidence, he falters when Echizen was already there, folding his arms and looking unimpressed by this. Fuji chuckled into his hand. "Oopse"
"Ehhh...hee ahem! Echizen what...?" Momo tried to laugh it off but Ryoma was already seeing it through, shaking his head in disapproval he snapped "We got few days for the nationals and this is how you guys waste time? Sorry for being disrespectful but..."
"Ochibi, you need to lighten up!" Eji pounded his head gently, making the youngest look up with confusion as he felt his cap being taken off again.
"Oi!" Turning his back to the rest as he turned to Eji, he calmly stated in a stern tone "why are my senpais this childish"
Momo snickered now, seeing the opportunity to attack, "I'll show you childish, brat!"
"I know I say that, but -gah! Wahahat?"
Surprised, even Fuji hadn't been prepared for Momo to resolve this in this way. He smiled mischievously, "ne, Echizen you were saying?"
"Cuhut thehe crahahap... ahaa Shihit!"
"Echizen, mind your language!"
He was surprised to see the captain in front folding his arms in a slightly serious manner not fitting the circumstances at hand.
"Buhuhuchohohohu??? Ahahahare yohohohou ihihin Ohohon thihihis?" He struggled for words when Momo hit a sensitive spot on the backs of his ribs and Eji held his arms in a strong hold.
"I have noticed your tone against seniors. Consider this a lesson on manners,"
Ryoma lowered his head with shocked giggles, it made Inui snicker in excitement "The ribs are more effective than the sides... the higher ribs increases his laughter in a jolt... that means... the probability of Echizen weak in the armpits is 97.99%"
Widening his eyes in shock, he kicks his heels on the ground. Eji had Fuji help to restrain his arms higher, it was not hard since Ryoma is small in contrast to the seniors.
"Now, now Echizen, let us hear your giggles..." Fuji's icy voice sent shivers down Ryoma's spine. He couldn't help but unwillingly oblige.
"Teehehee W-whoohoho's gihihigglihihing??? Ohohohoiii! Ehehehehenough!" He began to blush when Fuji's teasing voice became more effective as Momo attacked his armpits. Eji happened to leave his spot and take over his knees.
This made Ryoma shriek out and grasp the attention of the other players, including the freshmen trio "E-eh? Is that Ryoma-kun?"
Kashiro smiled uneasily, "U-un, mn... it looks so... I never seen him like this"
Horio, on the other hand, snickered with a satisfied hum. "Even the great Seigaku freshman regular has a weakness"
"AHAHA NOHOHO! EHEHEJII-SEHEHENPAII!"
Inui grinned, now scribbling on his notebook as fast as Momo scribbling his ribs. "Bingo, Eji..."
Fuji was competitive now, slightly scanning an approachable area, he reacted by massaging his right shoulder where its reachable while pulling his arm to expose him.
His laughter suddenly reached a pitch that was an octave higher, "Jackpot..."
"As expected of Fuji..."
Tezuka folded his arms, seeing how he couldn't keep his facade any longer, "ten more minutes and go back to practice, I'll go meet Ryuzaki sensei" he added sternly to them, "If it doesn't stop there, everyone will run twenty laps"
"Hai, hai Buchou!" Fuji smirked cheerfully, "How far can Echizen-kun take without begging?"
"Nahahahaa ihihihin yohohour dreheheheheams!" He managed to stick his tongue but also collapse into another bought of laughter. Fuji hummed menacingly, "Are you sure... because I just started"
Ryoma's golden eyes widened with shock when he felt the finger on his neck slide to his collarbone, he arched his back now twisting to the side and managing to overthrow the powerhouse Momoshiro.
"Uha! Careful Echizen!" Momo got off but then watched the third years following Echizen's movements, mercilessly pulling him into hell.
"I never seen a persistent Fuji, even during matches?"
Kawamura's words made Kaidou nod too, though he was also blushing like Echizen, his thoughts messing with him, Dammit, why is Echizen so cute? That stupid punk!
"AAHAHA WAHAHAHAIT SEHEHEHENPAII! NOHOHOT THEHEHREE!"
A sudden jolt that made Echizen narrolwly miss a kick Fuji in the face, made him turn on his back and embrace his middle with a gasp.
He was like a child, Fuji seemed to have won the game this time. Eji cooed now, grabbing his wrists to pin them to the sides to help Fuji. "Awww, Ochibi's ears are ticklish!"
Momo widened his eyes when Fuji grinned with a glint of sadism "Found~ it~"
"Gah! AHAHA PLEHEHEASE PLEHEHEHEASE IHIHIHI BEHEHEG YOHOHOU!"
Inui clapped now, "We officially put the cocky rookie down a peg"
"Ma, Echizen-kun is cute like this...ne Eji?" (BTW, this 'ma' is something japanese people use, idk the meaning, but Fuji uses it all the time)
"Right? He's so adorable"
"Ehehenough! Cuhuhut ihit out plehehease!"
Finally easing the torment, the youngster remained where he was, hands over his eyes, the blush still visible on his cheeks and the tips of his ears.
"Who knew your ears were this bad, nice Fuji" Momo said slightly amazed, "though you sort of won the game, it was my idea..."
"Hn, yes it's both our win"
"I hahate yohohu, seehenpai-tachi!" (Senpai tachi is a plural form)
They laughed and Oishi sighed in relief "Thankfull we finished before seven minutes"
"So it only took eight minutes to break him," Kaidou hissed, "Fshhh! So weak"
"Shut up!" A tired Echizen snapped rebelliously but squeaked when Fuji poked him in the stomach, "Manners... remember why you got in this situation,"
"W-w... Mada mada dahahahanee! HEHEHEY!" Fuji reached to poke him more and try to tease him with a sneer "Say that again, and I'm ready for round two, even if it means running laps"
Seeing how they were serious, Ryoma growled with irritation, looking away from them.
"Fine, fine! Let's practice. " he took his cap and shyly put it back, now seeing how he was clearly embarrassed by the non-regulars. The seniors laughed at the super freshmen plight and went back to practice as assigned by the captain.
Speaking of Tezuka, the captain stood above from the window, smiling softly at the sight below.
"Be Seigaku's pillar Echizen... with your seniors"

“Any luck?” You asked, arms wrapped around yourself to ineffectually ward off the freezing temperatures. Din looked up from where he was crouched trying to fix the Crest. After a close call with some x-wings, you had crash landed on this ice planet. You were transporting a frog woman and her eggs to Trask in exchange for information on the location of more Mandalorians. After crashing into the cave you were now trapped in, you all woke up to discover the Razor Crest in shambles around you.
“I’m not sure,” Din’s deep, modulated voice answered you. “The damage is severe…I’m doing the best I can, but I don’t know.”
“N-Need any help?” You offered with a shiver. Din sighed and looked over the damage.
“Yeah,” he replied. “We need all the help we can get if we wanna get off this damn planet.” You nodded and grabbed some tools to get to work. You both worked silently, fixing everything you could as quickly as you could. Your gloves kept getting in the way, so you had removed them early on in your efforts. That had been several hours ago, and your fingers were numb now. The third time you dropped the wrench you were holding with a loud clang Din tossed his own tools down and came to stand beside you.
“Having some trouble?” He asked.
“N-No,” you stuttered through the cold seeping into your bones. He glanced down at your hands.
“Meshla, your fingers are blue!” He scolded. He ripped his own gloves off, and before you even had the chance to marvel at the sight of his bare skin, he was grasping your hands in his. He rubbed them between his hands, trying desperately to warm you up. When that wasn’t working, he lifted his visor enough to reveal a lush mouth. Your jaw dropped as you witnessed the mysterious Mandalorian reveal more of himself than ever before.
He pulled your hands up to his mouth and breathed hot air onto them. You shivered—and not from the cold.
“W-What are y-you d-doing?” You sputtered.
“Trying to warm you,” he said lowly. It was the first time you had heard his voice unmodulated…and it was beautiful.
“Your v-voice,” you rasped. Din stilled. It was as if he only just realized how exposed he was. He slowly lowered his helmet. Your heart clenched at the loss of his lips. He gently pulled you closer. He shifted things slightly so he could tuck your hands into his flight suit beneath the beskar. You gasped when you felt the molten hot bare skin of his chest against your freezing hands.
“D-Din?” You whispered.
“It’s alright, meshla,” he whispered back. “Just get warm.” You nodded and tried to focus your attention on anything but how incredibly sexy the man before you was. Several minutes passed. Your shivers subsided and your fingers thawed out. He gently removed your hands and picked up your gloves. He pulled them on for you and gave your hands one last squeeze before letting you go.
“Keep those on,” he ordered softly. You looked down at your gloves and nodded. Before you could say anything, the child grabbed your attention. The frog lady had disappeared further into the cave.
“Dank farrik,” Din cursed. He sighed heavily. “Let’s go find her.” You followed behind Din and the child, your hands still tingling from the feel of his skin. You smiled to yourself. Maybe you’d forget to wear your gloves more often.

welcome to another episode of my mother said something to me so horrendous that I can't stop thinking about it and thats kinda ruining my life.
TW: SA
Last night I decorated and put up the Christmas tree with her. She asked what I'd done last weekend, I told her which friends I'd hung out with, she asked about what they're up to. Very normal, but then she asks about someone we'll call "B" who I haven't been friends with for a few years for some damn good reasons.
(Last time I saw B, her friend X roofied & SAed me (kissing, groping, caressing as I objected, semi-concious) in front of B. She joked "Ooh, looks like he likes you" & "Seems like X has a crush on Eden" & laughed. I got away & collapsed on the couch, but X followed & continued. I told him this was SA, which hurt X's feelings, so he started crying & left after being comforted by B. I got in a cold shower, trying to wake up. B insisted she check on X, since he was sitting in his car outside. B said she'd be right back to get me out of the shower, except she didn't come back. I collapsed & lost consciousness for 3+ hours then woke up naked & shivering. Afterwards B, took X's side, even gave him my Snap when I'd explicitly told her not to. B & X are still friends to this day.)
Despite my mom having heard this story multiple times, I still went through the main points since she asked about B. My mom made it clear she was familiar with the story. So wanting to go back to the positive, I start talking about how meaningful it was to have one of the friends I hung out with this weekend take my side so absolutely when I told her this story a couple years back. The next time that friend ran into X at a party, she called him out in front of everyone.
My mom goes "I don't know about just ganging up on someone like that" and gets up from the table.
"He deserves it! He assaulted me after drugging me and it definitely wasn't his first time. Don't you remember? He was the psychopath that cried and got offended when I literally told him that he was assaulting me and B sympathized with him!"
"You know, crying is a sign of remorse. It's a sign of regret." She nods her head towards me with pointed look and raised eyebrow as if saying and you should think about that.
This woman's insistence is side against her children is disturbing. Whatever X gave me, I experienced symptoms of organ distress, probably my kidneys and liver. Yes, she knows about that too
Oh and something else about X, the next morning he wouldn't leave my home. X taps on my window. I lock it. He knocks on the door till I answer (sleeping roommates), demands we talk, wants to come in. I refuse, but he won't go, so I stand outside. X can't leave without the certainty that he can see me again. Says he knows he violated me, that I said no, want him to leave, am saying no now, but he's still not going to. Not until I promise we can hang out again and give him my number. Not until X is absolutely certain I accept his apology because he really likes me after last night. I'm different from every other girls because I'm his intellectual equal. Don't I agree we'd have better convos with each other than anyone else? X doesn't think I know how beautiful or smart I am, he thinks no man has taken the time to tell me. That's why I'm so special to him.

The four of them looked up through Eddie’s ceiling. The gaping hole that was where Chrissy Cunningham had been twisted until she had died. The kids are looking down or maybe up. Max, Lucas, Erica, and Dustin. They had moved Eddie's bed, making a makeshift landing pad. "I don't know what those stains are,” Eddie mutters to both groups. The kids are waiting for them, and the pulsating red hole in the ceiling is furthering the creep factor. The kids disappear for only a few seconds before returning with a makeshift ladder.
Sheets threaded together " watch out guys” Dustin yells can be heard through the slimy hole in the ceiling.  The rope lands with a thud and sends a shiver down everyone's spine. The four look around at each other. Staring as if waiting for the first person to say something. “ I’ll go first,” Robin yells out. She climbs the makeshift Iadder. Nancy is sure to keep her hand behind Robin's back.
So now it's just the three of us. Nancy and Steve stand close to each other. I wonder if what I said to Steve earlier is worming its way around now. I look up the kids are grinning at the plan that has for some reason worked. A plan that worked so well. A plan that a little shithead came up with. "Who's next" I looked around between the three of us. Nancy was up the ladder in a second and just like that she landed safely on the mattress that I always found hard and annoying when I would fall asleep.
It was odd the way the gaping hole in my ceiling oozed with a vibrant red pulse as if it were alive and waiting for someone to touch it. Steve looked over at me. "You going?" Steve's eyebrows raised on his face, giving a harsher space to his face. Comparing his facial expression now to when I held a broken bottle up to his chin. It was vastly different. The jean jacket that I had given Steve to be a bit more modest looked odd, and almost off. My own body left lighter and less metal. I ignored the feeling as I gave way for Harrington to go next.
I didn't mind going last.
As much as the trailer we were standing in wasn't truly mine or maybe it was, it felt like home regardless of whether it was four years in the past or forty years in the future. Something about the way the trailer smelt and swayed as Steve moved a little so faster, and a little too hard on his feet trying to make his way onto the ladder. Under hushed breath, I heard Harrington curse out "I was never fuckin' good at climbing in the gym" I laughed a hearty laugh, as I remember seeing Harrington long ago constantly in the gym. Constantly working out for the benefit of probably getting more chicks.
A muffled Dustin could be heard through the hole in the ceiling. "Come on Eddie, we've got shit to do, and I have a plan." In an instant, I rolled my eyes. Thinking back to Harrington's comment about how Dustin might have a bit of an ego issue. I looked around once more seeing Wayne's hats that haven't moved since I first arrived at his trailer door, or the way that the one cabinet door never shut right.
I pushed myself up onto the ladder and hoped for the best. As I climbed I felt the weight of the upside down flutter off of me, I kept my eyes closed as I shifted from the upside down to the not upside down. But when I landed on the hard floor I opened my eyes. "Dustin that's not funn…" I muttered, as I looked around there was no Dustin, no red-haired girl, no robin, Nancy, or Steve.
I was alone. Except for the girl that was currently staring me down. "What are you doing in my house?" We said in tandem with each other "Huh?" We said again together. She was a beautiful woman. Her feet rested on what looked like a coffee table. A bottle of nail polish next to her feet, and one in her hand. Dark brown eyes that were staring me down. My vision was going in and out and a pain in the back of my head was making everything vibrate. "What are you… Are you okay?" She asked, shit her voice was heaven. Soft and soothing almost enough to make my vision not so blurry. "I… you… where am I?" I asked her as I felt my head was going to explode.
"Hawkins. Indiana." I hummed as she gave me an answer. But before I could ask her anything else, or gaze more intently at her beauty she was gone from my vision and everything I saw was black. It took me a moment to realize where I was, somewhere in the in-between. In a black empty space, where I could walk for hours upon hours. It took less than half that time to figure out that there was a girl nearly half my age staring at me from a distance.
Like she was just as lost as I was. When she caught a glimpse of me she came running, and for once in my life running away from the danger was the only answer that seemed right. Though when you’re running in an endlessly black void you never feel like you’re getting anywhere. Running and running. Things started to turn color. Shades of blues, greys, and mostly the whole rainbow came up. Then I was back, standing in my trail. My hands wrapped hard around a makeshift ladder to safety to the other side. I was stuck, the panic that drew in the darkest places of my mind.
Flashes of white
Flashes of Chrissy twisting and turning on the trailer ceiling. I stood still, not moving an inch to give me anything else in a story bent by my own lies. I wondered for a moment more if I’d end up stuck in the upside-down, stuck in this pitiless black void. As if a rather beautiful guardian angel had heard me, the world came crashing down, and frankly around me all at the same time.
The white walls made me feel sick to my stomach, and the annoying beeping noise was only adding to the stress. My throat was sore like I had once screamed all of one of Metallica’s albums. That cassette was broken, but pride and joy of mine. The first breath of fresh air gave my lungs a wave of relief. My now opens eyes looked around, trying to figure out where I was mostly.
“Wow, hang on a minute I’ll get the doctor.” That voice was so familiar, yet already running out before I was able to place it. When they returned it was that woman from my trai… her trailer. That I would come back to later. “Well, Mr.Doe I think that your friend over here really did you a good favor.” The doctor had this annoyingly southern accent that made me feel like I was getting judged all over again.
I kept a rather blank face, as the doctor explained that whatever I had done to my body was surely something they had never seen. Told me that they had given me antibiotics for the scars on my face, and body. Rather a long story about how annoying this would have been if it wasn’t for the 21st century. “So just a few follow-up questions and then you go on your mary way.” That doctor was a little too cheerful, a little too nice, and a little too creepy.
“Alrighty, what state are we in?” The light bulb lit up instantly in my mind. I would quess Indiana, there was no reason not to. I had landed in my trailer, also that stranger woman had said that where we were.
I had no reason to doubt her.
“Indiana.” Good was all the doctor replied before jotting something down real quick.
“Question two sir if you don’t mind. Who’s the president of the united states?” I wanted to roll my eyes at these stupid fuckin’ questions but answered anyways.
“Reagan.” The doctor looked at me and then over to the strange woman.
“No that would be wrong, it’s Biden.” My face as always gave a distant look of confusion. It was passed on by both people standing in the room.
“What is the date and time?” Easy enough in a matter of few words. The clock was clicking just across the room. It sat lopsided on the wall above the door’s entrance.
“Time according to the clock is 12:35 pm.” Confidence wasn’t something that oozed out of me, so no matter what I kept that blank stare, “And the date?” The doctor pushed, “March 26th, 1986.” I try, maybe I wasn’t doing so hot on these questions. Considering the alarming look I get from the doctor and the strange woman.
“I was hoping that these few little questions would prove to be easy for you. I was really hoping to let you go today, but if you honestly think that it’s 1986, which was more then thirty-five years ago. I might have to keep you.” The doctor chokes out. My mind does a few cartwheels, the 21st-century thing makes sense now, thirty-five years ago brings my heartbeat an extra step, so I play it cool. Breathing slowly.
“I don’t think it’s actually 1986, I was just you know… watching some old videos from my… that were around my attic.” Quickly the words come flooding out, a not precise lie. There’s no attic on the trailer, it’s a fuckin’ trailer. Regardless the strange women and the doctor don’t fight me on it. “Oh that’s wonderful to hear, good so you know that it’s actually 2023.” The doctor asks me, there’s a hopeful cheer in the back of his voice. A cheer of getting past nonsensical shit.
“Yeah, 2023,” I say shortly. He smiles, success is written over his expression. “Alright then I’ll get your discharge papers ready and you’ll be able to go in just a few minutes.” He says happily before almost skipping out of the room. The woman is now the only standing figure in the dull room. I find every excuse to not look at her though. Rather not have to lie to such a pretty face like hers.
“How’d you fall through my ceiling when I most defiantly do not have an attic?” Back to that smooth, like silk voice.
“But are you sure it doesn’t have an attic?” She rolls her eyes at me.
“Yeah, I’m pretty fuckin’ sure it doesn’t have an attic I live there.” She says angrily. “It’s not something you’ll believe if I tell you.” I try, but I’m met with a harsh line above her brows, and questing eyes.
“Fine, Hawkins is cursed, and I tried to go through a portal that was in my trailer, now your trailer but instead of landing where I was supposed to I landed here, or now or whatever the fuck just happened,”
I say through a mumble of words, and mumble of breathes in between. She looks even angrier, but there’s a softness behind it.
“Look there’s no need to lie, but I’m pretty sure I saw you come through my ceiling and there’s no ‘portal’ or ‘hole’ in my roof.” My shocked face only reflects my inner thoughts. I had only just learned maybe a few days ago that Hawkins was cursed, by what I wasn’t and am still not sure. I had watched a few horrible things happen in the past few days, and now this was the icing on the cake, the bee to its bonnet. There was no way I was creating shit this fuckin’ crazy just for fun. Even if I am a DM.
“Oh I almost forgot to ask, do you have somewhere safe to stay for the next few days? Or just while your body takes a considerable rest?”
The doctor had butted his head back into the doorway. I went to say something but was stopped by the reality that I was here in a year where I had and knew no one.
“Yeah, I’ll take care of him for the new few days.” I heard the women say across from me. I was so shocked that I shook my head alone with her words unable to talk, unable to think for the moment. “Oh, that’s just wonderful of you Ms. Miller.” The doctor said cheerfully, and then left once more. “Miller? You’ve got a first name?” I asked. I was genuinely asking, regardless of my flirtatious attitude. Always slipping to conversation running the show most of the time. I think that’s how I managed to get Chrissy to come to the trailer, and let me drive her to my trailer.
“Yeah I do, but I won’t tell til you do.” Miller quipped back at me. I swallowed hard, she was feisty like me. Unwilling to be broken by the morals of ‘normal’ folk. “Definitely can’t be a john Doe. The names Munson, Eddie Munson.” I shot back, She didn’t react in any way, clinch her purse close to her chest, or step back a few extra steps. Instead, she stepped forward. Reaching out for my hand. “Eddie Munson, it’s nice to meet you the right time round. I’m Lilly Miller.” She shook my hand. Her hands were soft as the blanket that I laid down with at night, something I wouldn’t mind if we had only stayed together, touching for a few seconds longers. I craved a touch that had only lasted a few moments already.
I was already going insane, I might as well go all the way with it. “Okay, Mr. Doe. How about we sign these papers and get you out of here? What do you say?” The doctor’s cheerful tone was starting to make me wanna tear my ears off. “Sure thing doc,” I said simply, before reaching out for the pen and signing without, really signing my name or anything. Just scribble here and a scribble there. It was over in a flash, that had been the easiest paper I had ever signed to get out of the white-washed room before.
The next few hours were oddly comfortable. For not knowing Lilly in any manner we fell into a comfortable silence as she drove us to my… her trailer. The music hummed on the radio, and just getting into the car had been an experience. The car was so futuristic in many ways, and yet had the warmth of remembrance left being in the old seats. “She’s an oldie, but a goodie.” That was the only thing that Lilly had said before we pilled into her car and she drove far from the hospital.
Metal played, not loud or softly in the car. But at the average level a nub would listen to it, so they could listen to the lyrics understand the meaning then turn the volume all the way up, so they could beat their heads along with it. I was trying to catch some words here and there in between the crashes of gutair strings, bass, and drums. “Oh, are you a metal fan? This is the older stuff. I’m not a fan of the newer metal music off there.” Lilly made it simple, and once more the conversation went nowhere. I hummed and listening along, watching as Lilly reached over turning the radio a little higher, and I relaxed into the sounds. Sounds that brought me back to an older time. I hadn’t remembered how close the hospital was to the trailer park on the edge of town. I hadn’t been since the last time I had come running back to my uncle Wayne’s trailer.
My dad was a drunk and just plain mean, besides the times he was teaching me how to hot wire cars, and get away with petty lacarney. The times he was drinking he was down right horrible in every which way. He left welts, and bruises to big to cover up with some fake story. I was old enough to understand the facts of the situation. Old enough to understand that I needed to leave regardless of the efforts to stay with my mom. I was just enough to understand that running away wasn’t always the worst answer.
I wonder if that’s where it stems from. The running away, running away from my dad was the start of it all. And in every single possible way it causes me to only run away from more. Run away from chief police Hopper when he catches me smoking pot for the first time, run away from him again when he catches now selling pot.
Though when he does catch me he’s more then understanding in every manner of speaking. He had caught my dad enough to know the ins and outs of my family trauma. He left me go and without that he never said a word to Wayne. I wasn’t worried about getting physical abused, but I was worried simply about dissapointing him.
Regardless of that I shook my head of the nasty thoughts and tried to think of anything else. I looked… well stared at Lilly. She had the most cutest ears. Earining that hung lower to her shoulders, and studs that were placed behind. A few strands that were never nice to her, it seemed as if they always bothered her. Cute and plump little lips that looked and probably felt the best when you kissed them. I was staring and had not yet been caught. Side eye giving me enough to blast away into another dimension.
“Home sweet home…. For the both of us I guess.”  That was an odd statement in itself. Home was home, but all I had seen was the living room wallvwithout caps on it, without the smokes stains from Wayne’s endless smoking, and that touch of weed smell that no matter how hard I tried to make sure it didn’t whaft into the living space still managed.
she pulled her car to a slow stop, then a full stop before cutting the engine off. We sat still in her car. Uncomfortable silence growing by the second has more and more of the ideas pilled down into my mind. Thirty-five years had passed, and what the hell could have happened.
“The old man, where he’d go?” It was involuntary. It had slipped out, falling and landing without a single drop of grace. “The old man?”  Lilly echoed back at me. Still haven’t moved yet. I was fuckin’ with the seat belt. Trying hard to manage my panic. Wayne was the only family I had left no reason to waste questions beating around a bush to get an answer.
“He smoked a lot, always sat out there.” I motioned towards the porch she had made an extension on. “Oh that old man’s. He was the sweetest of fellows. Never spoke of a words of misjudgment. Always a helping hand especially when I moved in.” Lilly said navigating her own belt. The belt unlatching was loud, head banging loud. I flinch and clicked my own undone. Maybe this conversation was over, maybe for the good of it.
“He helped you move in?” Yet another question that had just slipped right on out of my mouth. With a rather uncomfortable ease, and pace of a hummingbird. Flying from flower to flower looking for nectar it was rather very annoying for so many fuckin’ reasons.
“Sweetheart helped me move in boxes and even the heavy stuff said that I didn’t need to be doing that on my own.”
“Sounds like my uncle.” Her face lite and the darken. “He was your uncle?” She asked plainly. “Yeah pretty much… no he was the only family I got.” He has a feeling he knows where this is going. As a feeling Lilly’s about to drop another bomb on him, but she doesn’t not right away. “Do you like coffee?” She asks sweetly, and then adds “some weed to if you’re into that kinda thing?” Weed would make all the pain in the world go away. Far… far away.
She must see something. “Yeah you looked like a weed guy when you fell from my fuckin’ ceiling let’s go Eddie.” She pulls herself from the drivers seat and is out of the car in a matter of seconds, I try to quickly follow behind. The seconds the door swings open the smell of lavender, and weed pops out. It’s like a sudden flash back, but nothing appears. I wait, then walk in. “I would make youserlf at home, but that seems a little on the nose. Doesn’t it?”
She makes me laugh, and I do as she says. Settling myself on her couch. It sits in the same spot as mine did. Hers is of course, less aged around the edges, torn with beer stains inter laced into the fabric. Our couch had been from a yard sale from the rich neighborhood, one that was worn and used. Probably by some young kids at their grandparents home. Hers on the other hand was soft, and the seat didn’t automatically bend down in anticipation for weight. It was new, just like about everything in this trailer. A new tv, futuristic was the only way I could describe it.
“Okay, coffee is a brewin and weed is just waiting to be rolled up.” She motioned to the set up, a resin table that had paw prints in it. It was fuckin amazing. “You’ve got to be kidding me right? Is it legal nowadays cause that takes the fun out of smoking it?”
She rolled her eye at me but shook her head. Of course they had made it legal. “Let’s get to rolling cause I feel the bad news coming my way.” She scoffs but the feeling like the other shoes is about to drop doesn’t help the way my stomach twists into knots. We roll, and of course we roll ours differently. I’m a tight roller, blending the papers almost seamlessly, her are fatter more weed stuffed intside but are loose. I watch as she licks the paper wet. Dabbing her tongue on the paper. I had to look away and take focuse to my own joint.
The joint was amazing. Maybe weed had gotten better over the years, or I was just incredibly stressed the fuck out due to the emotional and physical trauma I had been through in just the past few ‘days’. I was still trying to figure that one out. Was it was days or it was years, to many years. Regardless we light blaze to our joints and smoked in harmony. Laughing here and there about the psychedelic posters she had on the wall.
“Did you put those up on purpose?” I asked my voice sounded so funny, I wasn’t about to laugh at it though. I was supposed to be a pro, at least that was the thought. She laughed and pointed towards the posters taking a longer thicker hit. “So, you said you felt like the other shoe was going to drop. I bet you’ve had a lot of nights like this were the truth comes out while smoking.” Lilly said setting down her joint.
The serious nature of the conversation was starting to hit home. The light heartness of everything in the past few moments was coming to a halt. “I feel like I shouldn’t be the one to tell you this, but I think you should know that your um, your uncle lived a great life. I spent a lot of time with him.”
“Lived a great life?” I questined her. The terms were becoming to real. “Well he lived a great life here with everybody in the park. He um… he died in his sleep a couple of years ago. I went to check up on him, and he was gone. I don’t think he was in any pain…” The silence took over the already small living room.
“Wait where is he? Does he have like a place of… of rest… Also how’d you get the trailer?” I had probably already asked her thatquestion, but the latter question was more important in my eyes mind. “Yeah we all pitched in, he had some money left over always had it in one of those coffee tins he kept around. Well actually he always said that was for his kid… I’m assuming that was you?” Lilly asked, I swallowed hard and took another long, long puff on my joint before the ashes hit the resin tray.
“We can go if you want, but I should probably get a cup of coffee, before we go. It’s a little bit of a drive for me.” Lilly got up getting her cup of coffee. She poured me a cup and brought it out. “We don’t have to right now. I’m a little tired, and a little to high to go… ya know go visit him. How um, when did he die?” I asked her, the need to know was urging through. Boiling to the top of my thoughts.
She got up looking for her pocketbook. “I think I still have one of his memorial cards. She rummaged through her purse, eventually dopping all the contents onto the floor. “Holy shit are you fuckin’ mary poppins are something.” I was half bent, my knees in my chest as I looked at her array of random things in her purse.
“No… I don’t think I am. I just always have a lot of things on me. I don’t to not have things. My ma always said ‘better to have then not need it then to not have it and need it.” Apparently my face gave away a very distinct look, “Don’t look at me like I’m crazy. I didn’t fall out of my ceiling.” Quickly i quipped back at her, “That’s was hours ago Lilly.” It was as if we had known each other for years, lived together for years. It was odd, odd enough that was thirty-five years in the future. Odd that someone else was now living in my trailer, but just as odd that Lilly wasn’t bothered by my presence. Wasn’t bothered by the way I acted or looked, or quite frankly anything about me.
“Yo you okay over there, you seem to be in another world?” She was flicking my knee, trying to get my attention. She was still sitting on the floor, “here it is.” Simply she handed it up to me. The plastic was soft around the edges giving warmth to the old picture of the man. He was smiling, a cigarette in his hand as whoever tried to take the picture of it was begrundling telling him to put the smoke down.
“Who took the picture? Wayne looks unforgettable anger at them.”
Lilly laughed, and moved quickly, and in a few second she was right back sitting hip to hip with me. Our knees and hips touching as she gazed at the picture. I wondered what the two of them talked about. I doubt Wayne would have talked about me, to much of an opened wound to want to be talking about me with random people.
“Oh yeah that was me. He wouldn’t for hte life of me just put that cigarette down.” She was laughing, you know the sentemntial laughs that make your heart beat a little faster, and your eyes burn from holding back a sad but joyful tear. The silence wasn’t unbearable as she shifted back down to the floor shoving her shit back into the purse. “It’s got the date he died on the other side.” She said simple as she gathered more things into the bag.
I moved the plastic card in my hand. Reading slowly as if the slower I read the more time I had to think that, imagine that he wasn’t gone. That I was wasn’t utterly alone like I was hen I was a kid. Yeas had passed since I had felt this utter stomach wrenching pain.

Our Father
Our father, who art in heaven, hallowed by Thy name; thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day bread; and forgive us out trespasses as we forgive those who trepass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.”
It was written so proper, with a passage from the bible. He wasn’t really a faith guy, but regardless I looked down on the small plastic wrapped paper. I went to give it back to Lilly, but she shook her head. “Eddie keep it, I think there’s a few more in the boxes of extra.” Sadness was written over her beautiful features, but she hid them well enough with a curt smile. I wasn’t nearly as okay with the idea that I had missed out on so fuckin’ much. Then in a blink of a second I wonder what happened with Dustin, and the whole upside down.
The kid had an idea. I worried about how they, if they managed to kill that Vecna character. According to Dustin and all other other kids they had managed to get throug this shit three times before each time it got worse though. Harder, people died more and more around the freaky ass town that had only gotten older.
“You can take the couch. You should probably get some rest. Don’t worry Eddie aren’t being a bother at all. Since you fell through my ceiling I think that’s probably the least i can do for you. Maybe we can even try some people that you knew here. I doubt everyone left.” Lilly said as she set her purse down on the small coffee table.
“Nobody ever really leaves this town do they?” It was rhetorical question but she just hummed along. “I’ll get you a pilllow and blanket.” She was quick to gather up materials. Having to run to the back of the trailer. When she came back it was with a few blankets and one pillow on top. “Bathroom is well down the trailer, and yeah here Eddie.” She said awkwardly giving me the stack in her hand.
She walked away, but before she was out of sight. “Thank you. I’m sorry to have fallen through your ceiling.” I said laughing at even my own words. She rolled her eyes, but in a such a cute way if that’s even possible. There was slight blush creeping on her cheeks. “Your uncle always said you were sweet Eddie, and your welcome.” Lilly was one before I could ask anything more or bother her anymore with other questions.
So he had talked about me to her. He had talked to her, someone he had trusted. I wonder what else he had said about me to her. I place the pillow down the couch, and slipped my boots off my feet. Setting them next to the couch, I threw my leather jacket off. And then I covered up with the blanket. It smelt like her, like her car had smelt. Like heaven and paradise mixed into a fucked up version. I stared up at the ceiling. The damn ceiling that had not chnaged noteven after all this time. The same ceiling that Wayne had stared for at years once I had moved in and he gave me the bedroom in the back. The ceiling that had killed Chrissy, the same one that had caused me to run away like hell to the fuckin boat house. I closed my eyes and all i saw was darkness.
 Compete and utter darkness.

It's A Terrible Life
Tumblr media
Prompt: This story follows the Supernatural episode "It's A Terrible Life" (04x17) Song Rec: None TW: None  Word Count: 4K Pairing: Dean W. x OC (Max), Friend!Sam W. x OC (Max) A/N: This was one of the first requests I ever got on Wattpad!
Max's POV:
I sighed as I walked out of the elevator, ready to take off my heels and throw down my bag. Working with kids all day long was exhausting, no matter how much I loved them. I tried to unlock the door to the apartment, only to find it was already open. Guess Dean was home early.
I closed the door gently behind me, dropping my keys on the table beside the door and my bag full of paperwork on the floor. I paused as I heard voices. It was just like him to bring work home, but I couldn't blame him, I did too sometimes.
"Honey, I'm home!" I walked through the short hallway into the apartment, the open floor plan giving me a view of both men. Dean was sitting at his desk, typing away on his computer, while the other man sat at the dining table, also working on a laptop. He was wearing a light yellow shirt, which I recognized from the company Dean works at.
"Hey babe." He gave me a quick kiss on the lips before returning his attention to the laptop.
I noticed the man at the table staring at me, "Who's your friend?"
"Oh, right, sorry. Max, this is Sam Wesson, he works at the company. Sam, this is my wife, Max." I walked over and shook his hand, a tight smile on my lips. When I tried to pull my hand back, he didn't let go. He stared at me, a dark look in his eyes. Dean cleared his throat, snapping Sam out of whatever daze he was in. I backed away quickly, standing beside the island that separated the kitchen from the rest of the apartment.
"I'm sorry, it's just... You were in my dreams."
"Excuse me!?" I crossed my arms, tightening the knitted jacket I was wearing. A shiver ran down my spine as the hairs on the back of my neck stood up. My blood ran cold, "Who the heck are you?"
Dean stood up quickly, stepping over to me and wrapping a protective arm around my waist, "Hey, man, c'mon, what the hell?"
"No, no- She was in the dreams with us, fighting along side us." He scratched the back of his neck, an awkward silence settling over us. I kept my arms crossed as I stared at the man, the feeling of déjà vu washing over me as he stood up.
"No way man, that's not possible. I know Max, she wouldn't be involved in any of that... stuff. She's a kindergarten teacher, for Christs sake. She couldn't hurt a fly, much less- much less a monster."
"No, it's her. I know it. She looks a little different in the dreams- Her hair is always pulled back and is a darker blonde than that, and she has glasses. She never wears dresses, only jeans and a flannel. She's a total badass."
"What is going on here? Who are you? What do you mean monsters?" I questioned timidly, another wave of fear washing over me as he took a step towards us, towering over me. He had to be six inches taller than me.
"Okay, here, sit down." Dean guided me to the stool at the island, giving me a moment to get comfortable. I kicked off my heels, watching as the men in front of me stood near each other. I felt a pang of familiarness as Sam shoved his hands in his pockets, "Let me explain everything..."
———
Dean sat at his desk as I stared out the window to my left, trying to comprehend everything they had just told me.
"Ghosts?"
"Yeah."
"And you killed one?"
"Well, no, we don't think so."
"And now you're trying to figure out how to kill it?"
"Yeah."
"Okay."
"Okay?"
I nodded, bringing my attention back to him, "Okay. I mean, I truly believe you're both having a psychotic break, but okay. If it helps you both to move on from this, I'll help you... hunt... the ghost."
We each got to work on our separate computers, Dean being the first to find anything, "Oh, jackpot!"
"What you got?"
"I just found the best site ever. Real, actual ghost hunters. These guys are genius, check it out." I stood to his right as Sam stood to his left, all three of us watching the video play.
"We know why you're watching."
"You've got a problem."
"A ghost problem."
"A ghost related problem."
"A ghost- It's like a ghost adjacent pro- It's like a problem that's-"
"Whatever. You've come to the right place. The only decent place, really, because the Ghostfacers know how to solve it."
"Period."
"Watch and learn."
"The first step in any supernatural fight: Figure out what you're up against." We all shared a look. Despite the fact that the video had animations that were childish, we knew they were our only hope.
Sam grabbed his laptop and started typing away, pulling up a website that full of information about P.T. Standover and the company.
"That's him, that's the ghost."
"P.T. Sandover. Died 1916. Devoted his life to work. No wife, no kids. Used to say he was the company, that his very blood pumped through the building."
"Wow, a workaholic. Sounds like you, honey." I ruffled Dean's hair, trying to make light of the situation. He gave me a not now look.
"Maybe he's still here, you know, watching over the company... even killing for it."
"Plus, this isn't the first time people started killing themselves in the building. 1929."
"Yeah, but lots of guys jumped off high rises that year."
"How many companies had seventeen suicides?"
"Woah, seventeen?" I leaned over Sam and read over the article, which listed the names of people who had killed themselves in the building over the past sixty years.
"Okay, so, P.T. Sandover, protector of the company. His ghost wakes up and becomes active during times of grave economic distress."
"The worst time since the Great Depression-"
"Is now. Yeah, now sucks. My portfolio's in the sewer. I don't even wanna talk about it."
"What? It is? Why haven't you said anything?" I smacked his shoulder in anger.
"Max, sweetheart, not the time."
"Not the- fine. We'll talk about it later."
Sam made a face at us before continuing, "So, Sandover's helping the bottom line."
"By zapping some model employees."
"Yeah, I mean, Ian and Paul. It was like he turned them into different people."
"Perfect worker bees, exactly. So devoted to the company that they would commit hara-kiri if they failed it."
"One more interesting fact, the building wasn't always that high. Used to be fourteen floors. And the room where the ghost attacked, fourteen-forty four? Once upon a time, that was the old man's office."
We turned back to the disregarded video from earlier.
"Once you've got that thing in your sights, you kill it. Using special ghost hunting weapons."
"First, salt. It's like acid to ghosts."
"Burny acid."
"Not LSD."
"No. It's a bad trip for ghosts."
"Next up, iron."
"That's why the wrench worked."
"Pure power in your hand."
"Dissipates ghosts instantly."
"Next little trick. We learnt this from those useless douche bags-"
"That we hate."
"The Winchesters."
"Gun. Shotgun shell. Pack it up with fresh rock salt."
"Very effective."
"Very effective."
"Winchesters still suck ass, though."
"Affirmative. Suckage, major."
I rolled my eyes at their childish behavior, suddenly feeling protective over these Winchester people. Within the hour both boys had a bag of stuff packed. Anything that was made of iron was packed, as well as all the salt we had on hand. Despite his cleanse, I kept everything on hand, in case I wanted some carbs or other unhealthy snacks.
"Where do we even get a gun?" I asked, sitting on the back of the couch.
"A gun store?" Sam glanced at me as he handed both canisters of salt to Dean.
"Isn't there some kind of waiting period?"
"I think so. How in the hell-?"
"I don't know, man. Seems pretty impossible, honestly."
"Right."
"The aforementioned super annoying, Winchester douche nozzles also taught us this one other thing."
"You have to burn the remains."
"Okay, this next part gets a little gross. Sometimes you might have to dig up the body. Sorry."
"It's illegal in some states."
"All states."
"Possibly all states."
"No, absolutely not. Digging up a body? That's where I cross the line. That's some bad ju-ju right there." I threw my hands up, shaking my head.
"Sandover was cremated."
"What? So what do we do now?"
"Now, if the deceased has been cremated- Don't panic!"
"Just gotta look for some other remains."
"A hair in a locket. Maybe fingernails, baby teeth-"
"Milk teeth."
"Genetic material. You know what we're talking about."
"Go find it."
"Fight well, young lions."
"Godspeed."
———
The elevator dinged as it hit the ground floor, "Set your cellphone to walkie talkie in case we get separated."
"How the hell are we gonna find some ancient speck of DNA in a skyscraper?"
"Well, that creepy storeroom used to be Sandover's office, right?"
We each took a corner of the office to search.
"What the hell are you doing here?" I kneeled down as a security guard stood next to Sam. I placed a hand over my chest, heart beating uncomfortably fast.
"Uh- um- nothing, I just-"
"Come with me." He grabbed his arm and led him out of the office.
Dean and I stood from our respective hiding places, sharing a look of concern. Surely Sam can take care of himself, right?
We sped up our search, coming up with nothing. "Hey, you okay?" He walkied Sam.
"Call you back." We shared a look at his abnormally high pitch.
———
"Dean, you there?"
"Yeah, listen, I think I got it. Meet me on twenty-two."
"Okay, yeah. Just take the stairs."
We both sighed at the thought. Despite his cleanse and my constantly being on my feet at work, neither of us were particularly in shape.
We stood waiting for Sam in front of the Sandover memorial wall in the main corridor.
"Whoa... That's a lot of blood."
"Yeah, I know."
"Right... So, in there."
"P.T. Sandover's gloves."
"How much you wanna bet there's a smidge of DNA in there? You know, like a fingernail clipping or a hair? Something."
"So, you ready?"
"I have no idea."
"Me neither."
I watched them as they talked to each other. If I didn't know any better, I would've thought they were brothers. They both leaned down, grabbing a fire poker and canister of salt each. I took the second out stretched poker from Dean, holding it with both hands.
Dean smashed the glass covering, Sam breathing out heavily. He and I watched the white cloud that formed, jumping as an old man appeared behind Dean, who was tossed backwards into a wall. The ghost threw Sam across the lobby and into a wall. Then it turned to me, blue sparks between its fingers. Sam quickly threw salt at it, the ghost vanishing.
"Oh, nice." Dean stood up, holding onto the wall for support.
"Dean!" I hollered, the ghost appearing behind him." Sam tossed his poker to Dean, who caught it effortlessly and swung around, causing the ghost to vanish again.
Sam let out a faint laugh, "Nice catch!"
"Right?!"
They walked over to the bag, Sam picking up another iron rod. The ghost appeared between them, causing them both to swing through it. I watched as the both of them swung around to catch the ghost as it appeared behind them repeatedly. They were both thrown back into the walls, knocking Dean unconscious.
I scrambled over to the memorial wall, grabbing the gloves and the lighter from my pocket. I turned around and watched as the ghost's lighting fingers neared Dean. I flipped open the lighter and held the flame to the gloves. Dean finally came to, trying to back away from the ghost, but was stuck between it and the wall.
The ghost's hand caught on fire slowly, then the entire thing burned up in a matter of milliseconds. I dropped the gloves and rushed over to Dean, helping him to his feet.
"Huh... that was amazing." Sam said, standing at the other end of the hallway.
"Right!? And you- you really are a badass." Dean responded, kissing my forehead gently. I glanced between them, silently agreeing.
We made our way to Dean's office, packing up our tools and leaving the mess for someone else to clean up.
I sat in Dean's chair as Sam sat on the desk. Dean grabbed the small first aid kit from the cabinet, sitting beside him.
"Man, I gotta tell you. I've never had so much fun in my life."
"Hey!"
"Other than when I married you, of course." He corrected himself quickly, sending a wink my way. I rolled my eyes jokingly.
"Me neither."
"Was a hell of a workout too, wasn't it?"
"We should keep doing this."
"I know."
"I mean it. There gotta be other ghosts out there." Dean handed Sam a small gauze pad, keeping one for himself. He handed me another, so I could clean the small cut along my eyebrow. I wasn't even sure how I had gotten it, "We could help a lot of people."
"Right, we could be like the Ghostfacers."
"No, really. I mean, for real."
"What? Like, quit our jobs and hit the road?"
"Exactly!"
"How would we live? You gotta be kidding me. How would we get by, with stolen credit cards? Huh? Eating diner food drenched in saturated fats? Sharing a crap motel every night?"
"That's all just details."
"Details are everything! You don't wanna go fighting ghosts without any health insurance."
Sam dropped his head with a curt nod.
"Dean, don't be an asshole." I stood up and walked around to stand in front of them, "But he is right, Sam. I mean, we have something going here. Steady jobs, lives. I, for one, love my job. I don't want to just leave it."
"Alright, uh... Confession."
"What?"
"Remember those dreams I told you about with the ghosts?"
"Yeah? That's what started all of this."
"I was fighting them... With you. Both of you. We were these, like, hunters and we were friends. More like brothers, really. And sister. I mean, what if that's who we really are? I mean, you saw us back there working together. The ghost was scrambling brains. What if it scrambled ours?"
"That's insane."
"Is it? Think about it for just one second." Dean got up and moved over to the window, running a hand down his face, "What if this is our life, but it's not?"
"The ghost is dead, we're still standing. I'm sorry, but-"
"Look, all I know is, this isn't who we're supposed to be." Sam stood up, his voice raising an octave.
"No. I'm Dean Smith, okay? This is my wife, Max Smith. I'm Director of Sale and Marketing. She's a kindergarten teacher. I went to Stanford. My father's name is Bob, my mother's name is Ellen, and my sister's name is Jo."
"When's the last time you talked to them? To any of them?"
"Okay, you're upset. Upset, confused-"
"Yeah, cause I only moved here because I broke up with my fiancée, Madison. But I called her number and I got a damn animal hospital."
They both inched closer towards each other, shoulders and voices raised. I moved to stand between them, arms raised so they couldn't move any closer.
"Okay, what are you saying? Are you trying to say that my family isn't real, huh? That we've been injected with fake memories? Come on!"
"All I know is, I got this feeling in my gut. And I know. I know that deep down, you gotta be feeling it too. We are supposed to be something else." Dean scoffed, shaking his head, "You're not just some corporate douche bag, this isn't you. I know you."
Dean looked up slowly, eyes dark, "Know me? You don't know me, pal. You should go." They stared at each other, Sam with a sad look and Dean with frustration.
"Guys, c'mon, let's just take a breath-" Sam turned on his heel and walked away, Dean turning back to look out the window, "That was cold, Dean."
———
I made my way to Dean's office the next day, a small brown bag in my hand. I smiled at the security guard and made my way to the elevator bank. He had forgotten his lunch that morning and I knew he'd be grumpy without it. I entered his office slowly, watching as he ran a hand down his face.
"Still mad?"
"At you? Never." I smiled softly, walking around to stand in front of him and lean against his desk.
I turn my head at the knocking on the office door, a tall man staring at us. He was bald and had deep set eyes, a knowing look in them. I furrowed my eyebrows, the feeling of déjà vu back again. Dean's head popped up.
"Got a minute?"
"Sure, of course."
The man closed the office door as I stood up, "How are you feeling, Dean?"
"Uh, great."
"You look a little tired. Been working hard, I gather."
"Yeah."
"Ah, don't be modest, I hear everything. And I'm pleased with what I'm hearing." He unbuttoned his suit jacket and sat down in the chair on the other side of the desk. He glanced to me every few moments, "That's why it's important to me that you're happy."
He pulled out a pen and took a sticky note from the holder. I couldn't make out what he was writing, until he slid the piece of paper over to Dean. I was standing behind him with my hands on his shoulders, "How's that for a bonus?"
Our eyes widen at the number scribbled on the paper, "That's very generous."
"Purely selfish. Wanna make sure you're not going anywhere."
"Wow. Are you sure?"
"Positive. You are Sandover material, son. A real go-getter. Carving your own way."
"Thanks, I try."
"I see big things in your future. Maybe even Senior VP, Eastern Great Lakes Division. Don't get me wrong, you'll have to work for it. Seven days a week, lunch at your desk. But in eight to ten short years, that could be you."
Dean sighed and let out a short laugh, "Well, thank you. Thank you, sir." He set his ear piece on the desk, "It's, um... But... I am giving my notice."
Both the man and I looked at Dean incredulously, "This is a joke. You're kidding me, right?"
"No, I've- I recently- Very recently realized that I have some other work I have to do. It's very important to me."
"Other work? Another company?"
"No, I- It's hard to explain. Um... It's just that this- This is- It's just-" He waved his hands towards the office then his chest, "It's not who I'm supposed to be."
I bit my lip and crossed my arms, ready for the man to leave so I could smack some sense into my husband, but then the man laughed.
"What?"
"Dean, Dean, Dean. Finally." He stood up and pressed two fingers to his forehead, then mine. Suddenly the world got a little bit darker.
"The hell? Why am I wearing a tie? My God, am I hungry." He looked over to me, "Why are you wearing a dress with apples on it?"
I looked down and squinted, taking the lower half of the dress between my fingers, "I have no idea. Why are we in an office?"
"Welcome back."
"What. Did I- Did we-" Dean stood up quickly, standing beside me, "Did I just get touched by- You're an angel, aren't you?"
"I'm Zachariah."
"Oh, great. That's all I need is another one of you guys." He harshly pushed the chair under the desk, looking at me before walking the other direction.
"I'm hardly another one, Dean. I'm Castiel's superior. Believe me, I had no interest in popping here into one of these smelly things. But after the unfortunate situation with Uriel... I felt it necessary to pay a visit. Get my ducks in a row."
"Hey, watch it. We are not one of your ducks." I stood tall, trying to regain some dignity that the red and white dress seemed to be taking from me.
"Starting with your attitude."
"Oh, so, what, this was all some sort of a lesson? Is that what you're telling me? Wow." Dean stepped back over to me, putting himself protectively in front of me as Zachariah stepped closer, "Very creative."
"You should see my decoupage."
"Gross. No, thank you." I shook my head at his misunderstanding, "So, what? We're just hallucinating all this? Is that it?"
"Not at all. Real place, real haunting. Just plunked you in the middle without the benefit of your memories." Zachariah turned and walked back to the other side of the desk.
"Just to shake things up? Hm? So you guys can have fun watching us run around like ass clowns in monkey suits?"
"To prove to you that the path you're on is truly in your blood. You're hunters. Not because your dad made you, not because God called you back from hell," He looked over to me, "Not because your parents died, not because your joined the Winchester clan. But because it is what you are. And you love it. You find your way to it in the dark every single time and you're miserable without it. Dean, let's be real here. You're good at this. You'll be successful. You will stop it."
"Stop what? The apocalypse, huh? Lucifer? What? Be specific, man!"
"You'll do everything you're destined to do. All of it."
"Oh, I doubt that, he doesn't believe in destiny." I stood up straighter as he turned towards me.
"That's enough out of you." Before Dean could intercept or I could back away, he had placed two fingers on my forehead. I fell into the blackness without another thought.
———
I shot up from the bed, a layer of sweat causing the sheets to stick to me. I threw off the top sheet and blanket, rubbing my eyes with the palms of my hands. I looked over to Sam, who was sitting at the small table in the corner of the room.
"Sam?"
"Yeah?"
"Where's Dean?"
"I have no idea," He looked at me, a distant look in his eyes.
"You okay?"
"Yeah, yeah. Something just feels... off."
"You feel it too?" He nodded. At that moment, Dean walked in, a scowl on his face, "Dean, hey, where've you been?" He ran a hand down his face, heading straight into the bathroom. Sam shrugged, looking back to his laptop.
"I found a case."
"Another? Sam, we just finished one yesterday."
"It's only a few hours away. Seems like a ghost, so it wouldn't take long."
"Okay..." I sat down across from him, turning the laptop towards me to look over the case. Dean came back out and sat on the bed, looking between Sam and I. I smiled gently, eyes never leaving the screen. I didn't have to look over to know he was staring at me.
"Find a case?" He asked.
"Yeah, seems like a ghost. It's a few hours south of here."
I could feel his eyes still on me, so I looked over. I noticed the bright smile on his face, "What's got you so happy?"
He shook his head, "No reason."
Despite the circumstances, there was an air of comfort surrounding us. It wasn't often Dean allowed himself to be happy, so it was a nice change. With the threat of Lucifer, the apocalypse, and angels hanging over us, it was hard to find moments of peace, so I'd take what I could get, even if it was just a smile from Dean.

the haunted mummy of perdeaux manor, episode 6
She turned her face north to find the source of a strange sound on the wind. George was making his way toward her. It had been his deep voice distorted by gusts and tumultuous ocean. She did not hope to like her brother’s new friend any better in this second encounter than she had during the first. She looked around for someone else he could be calling to, but they were the only two standing at the cliffs. Alone in the presence of a man was the situation teachers and family had warned her about ad nauseum since she her breasts began budding from her chest, which was consequently around the time she fell rather hard for her cousin Henry. As George approached, she felt mostly annoyance that he would put her in a situation where she would be scolded for enduring the company of a man, company she doubted she would enjoy.
She turned her head to dab away her tears for Eva with the handkerchief tucked in her sleeve. As she turned back, she squared her shoulders and set her jaw to meet George. He had not yet changed out of his spattered riding clothes. He had replaced his top hat, which he touched in respectful greeting to her, and his curls were blowing around his temples ecstatically in the wind. His cheeks and the tip of his nose were again rosy with their exposure to the weather. He looked like a portrait by a master painter rather than a man of twenty-one.
“Miss Perdeaux. Pardon my intrusion,” when he neared enough to be heard without yelling over the noise of the wind. His face wore an anxious expression.
She indicated it was no intrusion, because, while she did think he was intruding, it would be impertinent to admit so to a guest. He smiled tentatively, sensing she was being polite, but his green eyes sparkled in the last sunlight before the storm.
“Your brother invited me to rest after showing me the house, but I wanted to catch the remainder of this beautiful day. What an exceedingly wild and artistic landscape here.” He gestured vaguely, his voice effusive.
She gave him a tight smile. He was clearly hoping she would continue his efforts at a conversation, but she was disinclined to gratify him. She felt confusion that he would seek her out for any conversation, expecting him very much in her brother’s camp-- and more than likely in his bed-- rather than bother to speak to her.
“I’m very happy to see it,” George continued awkwardly. “Eerm.” He had more to say, but he seemed to be having trouble forming the words, and Rebecca made no effort to rescue him from his discomfort. His effort began to persuade her that his manner was very different from her brother’s other friends. Firstly, none of them cared to walk about the grounds when he brought them, preferring to ride horses, hit balls for sport, drink sherry, take snuff and--well, other things.
“It appears you are as fond of walking a countryside as I am.” He offered her his arm. “Shall we walk together?” She shouldn’t, but she would either be scolded for being rude or scolded for walking alone with a man, so she took his proffered arm to be polite and murmured her thanks. In that awkward moment the clouds covered the sun and Rebecca shivered.
Though the weather was turning rapidly, he set a slow pace. She wished it could be faster so she could be out of the weather and escape him sooner. She wasn’t sure if she quite forgave him for the disgusted look he leveled at her when they were introduced, but his arm was warm, and she would allow that to be a virtue.
“Miss Perdeaux, I dare to say,” he began and hesitated. “I’m very happy to get away from your brother.”
Her eyes widened that he would confess this to her. She wanted to look at him as though that would make her believe what she had just heard. He spoke to her like a confidant, not a recent acquaintance.
He continued. “While I am his guest, I suddenly find he is not the man I thought he was. I have never seen him in his natural environment-- he seems just like everybody else when in society. I could never have imagined he could be so…” He seemed to struggle to find a word to appropriately describe John. She looked up at his face, his brow furrowed as he thought of a way not to insult his host. Rebecca could not land on anything polite either. Perhaps he wasn’t in John’s camp after all. Of course, that did not mean he was in hers.
“Insufferable,” she finished his sentence. She would not shatter his expectations for saying so. He had no reason to think well of her after how John had described her in his presence mere hours before. It felt dangerous to do so, but terribly satisfying when George agreed.
“Much obliged.” He looked down at her and smiled sheepishly. He had a most adorable dimple in his left cheek. She looked away, for the sake of propriety, but she wished she did not have to.
“Not at all," she answered. Then her voice took on a hard edge. “I am spoiled and willful. I am a horrible sister that will say whatever she wants about her insufferable brother.” She felt her cheeks flush with her boldness to remind him of that morning.
He stopped walking, and turned slightly so they would be looking at each other, putting his hand  over her hand on his arm. It felt warm through his soft gloves. He wore an agonized expression. “Miss Perdeaux, I do want to apologize for that unfortunate meeting. I could not control my face. I was so horrified by all the things John said. I do not know that any of those things he said about you are true. Being a party to that disrespect felt so shameful to me. I would never wish to cause you any distress.” He abruptly stopped speaking, as though he thought he was becoming carried away or he had already said too much. She felt this apology explained why he sought her company at the cliffs. He had chosen to be rude about his host rather than be party to the abuse of his sister. Of course he couldn’t say this in front of anyone else but her.
She found it curious. She had not known many men outside her family who would speak with her this honestly, especially a new acquaintance, especially an acquaintance of her brother. Though still incredulous and wary of his behaviour, she took a deep breath and decided to repay his vulnerability with her own.
“That is very kind of you to say, Mr. Mayweather, but the fault is not yours. It is his. He enjoys tormenting me, and making others a party to it as though it were a very fun game. It may be unkind of me to say such things about my blood… and perhaps that makes me unkind… I suppose, after what you have said to me about him, you are the safest person for me to make that admission to.”
He let out a breath of relief. “I completely agree, though it may also make me unkind and a terrible guest. I mean to say, I will keep your confidence, Miss Perdeaux.”
Never had a man offered to keep her confidence. Boys had, but they had turned around and blabbed the secrets minutes after learning it. But George was not a boy. He had demonstrated himself to be completely unlike her brother. There was less reason not to trust such a promise from him, but she was not quite ready to do so. After all, he did approach and accost an unaccompanied lady; she wondered if men were told to avoid this situation as much as women were or if he had forgot the lesson or thought her good opinion of him was worth the risk. She cast a look around to see if John might be lurking behind a tree ready to reveal this conversation as a trap, not quite believing he would let such a beautiful man out of his sight.
“You are very kind,” she replied. He dipped his head and smiled with relief. He raised his eyes and met hers, and then he seemed to be frozen there, caught by her gaze. She felt herself pulled into them and their surroundings melted away for a moment. Then she shivered. Or did she tremble? It had been warm when she had left without her wrap and gloves. He looked like he was about to say something, when she shivered again.
“May we make haste back to the house?” she asked. “The weather seems to be turning rather quickly.”
“Oh yes, of course.” He allowed her to set the pace as a light precipitation had begun to fall.
