My HC for them are pretty obvious from the above—Sanson is a gay man and Guydelot is pansexual. They're both cis in most of my universes though Sanson is a trans man in the Cyberpunk AU. They are mostly mono except for when I want to throw Nourval into the mix!

Sanson to me is a binary man and he identifies a such—even when he is trans he considers himself a man and not just in the wider masc spectrum. I do put him in a lot of gnc clothing though because he deserves to look pretty as a treat, and I think he's someone who actually does care about his appearance despite being known as a no-nonsense person.

I kinda swung between bi and pan for Guydelot, though in the end I decided that gender expressions hold very little weight for him so he is now pan! He doesn't have any preference for either end of the spectrum and only harps about banging maidens to annoy Sanson, whom he knows is gay lmao.

WHAT IS THIS AU? HOW DOES IT WORK?

A brief (I'm lying, this is a long post) explanation post for this AU for anyone new <3

As I've mentioned before, this AU is based on the theory that Papyrus is (was) Gaster. I did not create this theory, it has existed for a long time nd I'm also not the first person to do something like this with the concept—I'll touch up on that later.

About the Papyrus is Gaster theory

I've looked up a lot of stuff about it but I don't actually know where it originated. It's not super popular but if you're a Papyrus theorist you might have heard of it before!

It is not a super serious theory, it's more about pointing out the weird connections and similarities between Papyrus and Gaster and giving an explanation to the many weird things about Papyrus and his lack of backstory.

Just to mention some things:

Them both speaking in capital letters, having no asterisks, their weird way of phrasing things, Papyrus being described as forgettable, Papyrus hating hotland, him pretending he doesn't know about a lot of stuff ( The lab for example, he know what a lab is but pretends he doesn't in front of Sans), Gaster being related to hands and Papyrus never taking his gloves off, Papyrus weird connection with phones (his photo-graphic memory for phone calls) and Gaster's weird connection to phones(Fun events related to phones, and getting the garbage noise when using the phone in a darkwolrd), their love for puzzles (The CORE is a giant puzzle), THAT one quote that I still find misterious “beside, it’s rude to talk about people that are listening, right? not everyone is as though as my brother”, Papyrus DOES have Gaster blasters it's pretty much canon even if a lot of people ignore it, Papyrus is very smart—he's knowledgeable on many subjects and knows how to build many things— he's the character with the MOST dialogue in the game yet we don't know a lot of stuff about him OR his past, he breaks the laws of physics and of the game, and he's not yet in deltarune! The heavily Gaster connected game!

That's some of the things I could think about, and look, yeah... I'm probably looking way too much into it and these are all just coincidences! The weird Papyrus things can be related to other stuff! But I still like this theory, not because I think it's real but because I LOVE the possibilities!!!

About how this AU works

This au is basically a

"Pretend this theory is real! How would the Undertale timeline work then?"

We're giving Papyrus his backstory while also making a Gaster-focused story at the same time!

This AU imagines how the Papyrus is Gaster theory situation could play out! (And I'll also add some of my other favorite ut theories as a treat)

Papyrus used to be Wingdings and then Wingdings shattered across time and space, Papyrus and Gaster are different separate people.

Actually I kind of, treat Wingdings before and after the accident as different people also... you change a lot when you become an omnipresent being....Wingdings, Gaster and Papyrus I treat them all as different people.

"How did Gaster become Papyrus?"

He didn't "become" Papyrus just like that. After he shattered, he stopped existing the way he did before, he became a being in another layer of the game! But! physically his body was just there...

This is based on how the Goners and Gaster followers have counterparts that are not, uh, goners. A non-distorted version of them existing separately

Papyrus was just kind an empty shell at first. He still kept parts of Wingdings original personality but his Papyrus personality developed on his own with time!

"How did Gaster shatter across time and space?"

Usually everyone agrees it was because he fell into the CORE

Not here! I don't think the CORE caused his accident, it is a power source not a time and space altering machine. In this story, it was some other thing he was working on....

I've seen some people tell me this is a good idea for an AU and I agree!! I love this idea SO much, but as I said before I didn't create this concept or theory I just love it a lot!!

Smile at Hope in the Name of Despair: on Komaeda and Nanami's deaths in chapter 5

Formalising the tags on this as their own thing because I'm going insane. Shoutout to @kaiokentimesten for letting me bounce ideas off them and looking over this before it was posted.

TL;DR:

DR2 Nanami is the person Komaeda desperately tried and failed to be over the entire killing game.

It makes their mutual destruction that was simultaneously a double suicide in chapter 5 even more meaningful.

Komaeda was someone who considered himself apart from the rest of the group, a supporter instead of an equal, and didn't see any future for himself with them due to circumstances beyond his control. Nanami was... someone who considered herself apart from the rest of the group, a supporter instead of an equal, and- based on how her FTEs ended- didn't see any future for herself with them due to circumstances beyond her control.

Both had strong ideologies around human worth that drove their actions over the game and led to them valuing other people's lives over their own. Chapter 5 culminated in both of them willingly sacrificing themselves for the greater good.

But their reception by the rest of the cast was very, very different for very obvious reasons. And the differences between them ultimately led to Nanami achieving everything Komaeda wanted, both on the surface and on a deeper, more emotional level, while he completely failed to.

On Komaeda

On the surface Komaeda strives for 'hope', right? He always acted for (what he believed was) the greater good by (in his perception) helping more talented people bring it about. Go slightly deeper and we see that he didn't actually just want to hang out in background, he wanted to be important, albeit in a vicarious way. He actively went against the will of everyone he tried to 'serve', engineering deadly conflicts behind their backs and manipulating the flow of information in trials, because he had his own ideas about what was best for them which coincidentally always had him pulling the strings. While initially unaware of his hypocrisy, his final message acknowledged this and took it to an extreme.

Go deeper still and it turned out that he truly wanted to be loved. For people to care about him and give a shit he existed. All of the above may have been, in my view, subconscious proxies for that: the only way he knew how to make people love him. Praise him. Raise statues to him. Remember him as the Ultimate Hope. Please.

But Komaeda didn't understand what hope is. His idea of it was too abstract, too utilitarian, too black-and-white. He reduced his classmates to interchangeable vessels of hope*, their individual value as living people dependent on their potential for it, and often callously discarded people that no longer met his standards. This ironically made him more of an agent of despair, especially after chapter 4 shattered a load-bearing part of his beliefs and destabilised him further.

He made the class despise him, died alone and afraid, and (if it had been real) would likely be remembered as an unwell person that tried to kill everyone. At most he garnered respect for his intellect, made the survivors take his luck seriously, and had Hinata torn about him posthumously; a lot of conversations during his investigation were more preoccupied with the end of the killing game than him no longer being with them. Had his plans ever succeeded, his final legacy would have been clearing the way for the creation of 5-15 new Junko Enoshimas and snuffing out what little hope humanity had regained. He took out someone who was virtually the Naegi of DR2 and her death ended up being the only one that stuck.

*There's nuance to that depending on the situation- and his views in general, especially considering DR2.5- but this is about his behaviour during/when planning murders and how it shaped his classmates' opinions of him. I have a post about it here!

Nanami, on the other hand...

...had a fundamentally different approach to morality, hope and what gives a person worth. She was built to have compassion for people that most of society would consider irredeemable: people whose net impact on humanity was extremely negative, who likely couldn't reverse that even if they aided humanity for the rest of their lives. She believed they had worth regardless and deserved a chance to be rehabilitated. Her death was only possible in chapter 5 because, even having seen Komaeda at his worst and knowing he was dangerous, she still believed in him and his right to second chances and tried to save him twice.

She was kind, level-headed, and had her own key moments in trials. People liked her and didn't reject her presence or tie her up in a draughty building for days. Hinata's heart raced when he did FTEs with her and he worked around the ways she was weird instead of storming out of conversations prematurely.

Faced with a choice between her life or everyone else's, forced by one of the very people she existed for, she willingly faced death and helped persuade everyone else to kill her (another thing Komaeda spent the entire game trying in vain to do). This wasn't easy, even after they reached consensus about Komaeda's luck, because she was their friend and they were distraught to see her die. By doing so- and again when she helped Hinata posthumously in chapter 6- she ultimately saved them, their 'dead' classmates (Komaeda included) and the rest of humanity, and her loved ones would never forget that.

Komaeda set out to dedicate himself to hope- to be remembered and loved as someone who heroically sacrificed himself for humanity. But Nanami was the person that actually achieved his dream.

As a final note, I love how the chapter's title- which I started this post with- can be applied to both of them. Komaeda idolised hope but his actions often brought about the opposite. Nanami sacrificed herself for Ultimate Despairs because she knew the real meaning of hope was believing in a better future.

I was wondering where you stand morally speaking on homosexuality/gender politics? I know it's a complex issue within the scope of religion but I would love to hear your thoughts on it as someone who is religious but doesn't necessarily have an easy time processing how religion should interact with societal issues in general?

Sorry for not answering this one right away, I’ve been mulling over some topics and readying myself to explain them. Ok, here we go!

Thank you! I try first and foremost to be a Christian and let everything else follow. For some people, that puts them off and they would rather not be around me. It happens and it’s fine. I can’t force them to be a Christian or to like me.

So to have that lead into the main topic here, where do Christians stand on homosexuality/gender politics?? Well it’s very clearly detailed in the Bible. Homosexuality is a sin, period. There are a lot of people that will claim that the Greek word for “homosexuality” isn’t talking about two adult men but is warning against an adult man sleeping with a young boy. This particular translation has been debunked on more than one occasion and it does mean “homosexuality” as in two males having sexual relations with each other. The Bible does not endorse pedophilia but verses talking about two men laying together or men giving themselves up to unnatural and sinful desires are very loud and clear that homosexuality is a sin which goes against God’s design. God instituted marriage (and this all sexual acts) to be within the covenant of one man and one woman. No more, no less, no different.

As for gender politics, I’ll put here what I put in my other post, we are fearfully and wonderfully made. God, the creator of the universe and its planets, the God who composed physics and taught His galaxies to dance, the God who cultivated the tallest tree and tiniest flower, He knit you in your mother’s womb. He knows everything about you. Every fear, every joy, every lie, every truth. And He loves you. God does not make mistakes.

So just based off this, I can very firmly conclude that we are not to mutilate ourselves in order to feel better in our skin. We already are in the best body we will ever have. Specifically, transgender is a mental illness and it needs to be treated as such. Depression, anxiety, bipolar, schizophrenia, all of these are treated as a mental illness. Could you imagine how worse off all these folks would be if instead of getting actual medical and psychological care, they were instead told there was nothing wrong with them and to not only continue living a delusion but actively encouraged to feed into it?

Suicide rates in the transgender community are extremely high. That is a direct consequence of encouraging that mental illness instead of directing them to the proper clinics/physicians to get the help they need.

So we’ve got both of those out of the way. Next, I should touch on what you said about being religious and how that interacts with societal issues.

I am a Christian because I believe that Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. None come to the Father except through Him. I am not a Christian because my parents expect it or because it’s just how I was raised. I have a personal relationship with Christ in which He called me by name and saved me. Jesus shapes the way I look at not only myself but every other person on this planet. He informs my every decision and directs me to follow His Word. If you agree with this, then that leads to my next point.

Jesus is our priority in life and everything else comes after Him. And when I say everything, I mean truly, absolutely, *everything*. Jesus comes before my parents, before my siblings, before my husband, before my friends, before everyone else and everything else. That is how I view societal issues. Jesus comes first. Because God is a God of love, that will inform and direct me in how I interact with the world at large. Sometimes, love is tough and wants the best for you. Sometimes people don’t like what is best for them. Sometimes, a lot of times, they want what is easy.

Putting Jesus first is hard. It’s an everyday challenge. But when I put Him first, that allows me to look at issues like homosexuality and transgenderism through the lens of Christ. It is a sin to lust after someone of the same sex just as lust is a sin for people of the opposite sex. It is a sin to try and permanently change or destroy your body and say that God was wrong. You do not live a life led by Christ and decide to mutilate yourself.

But there is always hope. Christ is King. He has won. No matter what you have done, no matter how evil you think you are, no matter how lost you feel, no matter how much you have put Him down, Christ still wants to have you home. And so do I.

Do you ever find it strange when people almost…brag about being disabled or compete with who has had the most micro aggressions? Or make it into an almost game? Not sure if I’m explaining myself right.

For example I saw someone who made a “quirky/silly” list of the ‘insults they got as a cane user’ on the first day of using a cane, And the ‘insults were like “did you get hurt?”.

Asking if you got hurt is not an insult?? Especially if someone’s never seen you with a cane before it’s a pretty normal question to ask??

I’m saying this as a full time wheelchair user who got sick later in life but it’s not a “game” it just is.

I think I understand what you’re saying, yeah.

I do find it extremely strange and frustrating when other disabled people with purposely “compete” or try to compare in an unhealthy way to severely disabled people — which actually often happens to me with this account. I’ll get comments specifically talking down to me as if I couldn’t possibly understand what it’s like, while being severely disabled? I actually have taken breaks from both my tumblr, twitter, and instagram because of the type of responses i get from OTHER DISABLED people and how they truly cannot grasp the idea of intersectionality and the interconnectedness of certain prejudices, oppression, minority “status”, ability, etc. I have gotten a fair share of people accusing me of being privileged of all things for getting a powerchair? For having a wheelchair, for being a full time wheelchair user, as if any of this is a privilege in anyway? Just because they might not have been “”approved”” for a mobility aid they might not necessarily benefit from. Some people truly want to appear more disabled than they are because of the trauma of not being listened to as a disabled person, and I can understand the pain, I still don’t have any treatment and my disability only progresses, but exaggerating and being untruthful with your experiences not only hurts others, but it also hurts yourself.

Also, I’ve never understood people that get genuinely upset when people ask innocent questions. Obviously, you aren’t obligated to respond to them or comment on it. But to act as if it is an act of extreme or violent oppression is… wrong.

People are curious by nature, in order to understand they ask questions, some of those questions might not be the best wording but that doesn’t immediately mean they have bad intentions. People stare, that doesn’t mean they hate you or want you to die, some people think you seem interesting or cool or pretty etc. it’s not inherently an act of oppression.

Yes, it can be frustrating to be stared at and constantly forced to answer questions, but at the end of the day, people are curious and they /want/ to understand.

I think minimizing what ableism is has only hurt the disabled community — people will claim simple questions are ableism which then hinders disabled people’s relationships with each-other and able-bodied people. It makes our very real oppression (which HAS and continues to lead to thousands and millions of deaths) into a game or joke.

One funny thing when I was shuffling this deck was that this card came out tumbling. It was like.. Upright, reverse, upright again. I’m taking this as a sign. You like taking the wheel. You’ve been through the ups and downs as you journey ahead, sometimes lacking direction, learning self-discipline throughout the process, learning the importance of strength and will, finding balance, and driving to where you are right now. 1. What is my role here on earth? - The High Priestess

First word I’m picking up is healing. You’re the person who answers to the cries of help, being the Universe’s hands in providing aid to those who pray for it, to be that gentle beauty without losing your thorns. You’re called to be the healing energy, to be the kindness that people need but may or may not deserve. Not to put a burden on you, but you probably tend to be kind and subconsciously heal or watch over those who need your help, even strangers, and even people who do not deserve those kindness. (There’s this nagging behind my head that reminds me of the people in Gotham who did nothing yet yells for help/salvation, instead of fighting and protecting their “loved” ones.)

2. Have I achieved it? - The Fool

You’re only starting on this journey. Or maybe have yet to start on this journey. You probably realised this uhhh ability of yours very recently, or have only decided to really start doing something on it. See, realising this ability/skill doesn’t mean you have to do something about it. You may realise your skill for art but not continue cultivating that skill. It’s the same. You’ve probably stopped all those questions and try to take out that first step to do it. You’re killing your doubt step by step, betting in yourself and trusting in yourself to do something entirely new. (Yes, ITZY’s Bet On Me is playing as I write this.)

3. How to achieve it? - The Sun

There are so many things embodied in this card: brightness, hope, ray of hope, and more to come. What I’m feeling from this is mainly warmth, asking you to just be this Sun, to shine just as you are. It’s gonna sound weird but imagine healing rays? I’m cringing and having a weird face as I type this out. But yeah, just be who you are, to continue doing what you do. Just know that your presence is like a walking energy-purifier, lifting up the spirits even by smiling to strangers or wishing them a good day. You can attempt to try doing something else, for example, being more active in volunteer work in nursing homes and shelters, playing a part in activist activities, or even taking up counselling courses to help people out. These are only some of the many ways that are available. Most importantly is that you do kindness with kindness, not to have any ulterior motives behind them.

4. Why do I need to do it? - Seven of Wands rx

The world is changing, more and more people are experiencing a feeling of defeat and overwhelmingness, including you. Finances will be involved in terms that there are donations coming in, which you may use to assist those who are financially needy.  You’ll be able to accept this new side of yours, and be more willing to reach out your hands because you could physically see how this chain of kindness continues on, holding on more hope that things can actually change for the better.

Some out there could just go along with life even though they have no idea what to do, and it’s cuz their direction of life is to go along with what the journey has to offer. You can transform into a gem by polishing and honing your skills. If I were to compare and describe, I’d say that you’re a jade as compared to other stones out there. It can only be done little by little, and repeating the process until you see that gleam of green. And that’s what you’re gonna do. You’re gonna polish your skills day by day, night by night.
