in regards to deltarune and character agency, i always assumed the darkners' agency being tied to the lightners' will was a direct parallel to the player character's agency (kris) being tied to the *player's* will (us), and that by making this the game's narrative (darkners are on a plane below lightners and are considered, in a way, less 'real', despite several having desires to break away from this hierarchy) the game is trying to call into question our relationship with the game itself, with the world itself. if the relationship between lightners and darkners feels unfair, then our relationship to kris should be in question as well. characters all have roles to play, but isn't that strange? why the prophecy, why the repetition, why do we, ultimately, have so much control? what gives us the right? it's all layers. us, lightners, darkners, imagine your whole world living and dying at the hands of gods that, out of boredom, could easily abandon you one day, or even destroy you? gods you were made to love and serve, and around you everyone says without them you can never be whole. who wouldn't want to rebel? i think if you're an advocate for kris's agency, you have to advocate for the darkners' agency. for ralsei's agency outside of kris or the prophecy or anything he's meant to do. i think kris and ralsei are narrative foils in this regard, one who blindly accepts his fate, and the other who tries to escape it, a character who does whatever he's told and a character who forcefully slips from our grasp. it just feels like set up to me for a lot more than 'escapism.' i'd say the main themes here are fate, agency, choice and control. even the mystery voice at the start of the game has their plans messed with by the other voice choosing to discard our vessel. every character is grasping at something they can't have, even ralsei can't have his narrative go the way he's planned because susie keeps surprising him lol
yes that's true!!! i would also argue that 'identity' is packaged in with these themes - deltarune is written in such a way where characters are not just grappling with fates and choices outside of their control, but also grappling with roles that they seemingly cannot escape.
the darkners are fantastical & metafictional version of this idea, given that they are both objects who need to be useful in order to not be abandoned and also npcs who serve an rpg-genre narrative function. ralsei especially fulfills several rpg archetypes as the friendly healer companion and as the guide npc. every major darkner has some kind of conflict involving the role they were made to play, whether it's lancer as "the bad guy" or spamton as "the spam email." even queen, who is extremely enthusiastic about her role, runs into issues because she is so zealous that she does not grasp what the lightners might actually want and need.
susie and noelle fulfill a more realistic version of this: the labels of bully and nice girl respectively are roles that neither of them exactly chose, but through a mix of environmental & psychosocial factors and a dose of self-fulfilling prophecy, neither of them know how to escape. berdly, while mostly comedic, is also a character who deals a lot with his real-world designation of "smart guy." susie breaks loose somewhat of her role in ch1, and we see noelle start to follow suit by the end of ch2. given that their existence isn't directly tied to their roles the way the darkners' are, it makes sense that they'd start to question and challenge these first.
kris, as befitting of their protagonist role, fulfills both versions of the idea. their role in the light world is an outcast who lives in their brother's shadow, and in the dark world, they're viewed as a prophesized hero. but they don't have full agency in either of these identities at all. they're being controlled by us, and the perceptions of them as an outcast and hero respectively are imposed onto them by other people.
meanwhile, almost all the other lightner npcs are different versions of characters we met in undertale. i would argue that this is another form of imposed identity, albeit one they aren't aware of. WE view them as their identities from undertale. I highly suspect that this will be something played with a lot more as future chapters go on.
the themes of choice & control all interlock with this idea of imposed identity. in a world where nobody can choose who they are, is it possible for people to eventually break out of what they are assumed to be...?
it's a game made to make us heavily question both a lot of rpg conventions and especially how we view characters in games. I'm very excited to see how the game will continue to play with its ideas of agency. it's such a brilliant idea to tell a story about fate by explicitly tying it to the way characters and worlds are written in games, and also by tying it to audience perceptions related to toby fox's last game. it's going to be so interesting to see how the characters deconstruct all those expectations!

Deltarune Angel Theory! Who it is, what changes in the weird route, why we do it, + more!
Variable Angel Theory Part 1:
Hi! Noelle Holiday here!
It's my first time posting anything like this so I'm not totally sure how it works, but here's my best shot. Spoilers for everything currently released in Undertale and Deltarune, and hopefully, spoilers for parts of Deltarune that haven't been released yet too!
A quick multi-paragraph intro with like 15 disclaimers:
Okay so I've been binging theorycrafting videos and Deltarune and Undertale playthroughs over and over for the past month and I think I've just cracked the code and seen into the matrix.
So, this started when I noticed that Spamton calls me Angel, which is weirdly specific, right? But then I noticed one of the Addisons also calls me Angel, and both of them only do it in the weird route. So that got me wondering why, of course! And I think I've connected enough dots that I might be able to predict not only who the angel is, but how the weird route changes things, exactly why we do it, what will happen in chapter 3's weird route, and even some mostly-unrelated stuff involving characters like Seam.
I'm more confident in this than almost any other major Deltarune theory I've heard, despite how little we know about the angel. I wouldn't be sharing it, and wouldn't have put this much time into a full writeup, if I didn't believe in it. And, given how limited our information is, don't expect rock solid, undeniable evidence for each point I cover. I'm working with what I've got. This is a theory about stuff we're probably years away from seeing to fruition, so I have to make a lot of predictions.
A lot of this uses @jarujaruj's theorycrafting method, which involves considering the story from a writer's perspective rather than relying on pure hard logic, but we're also going to be going over most of the info surrounding the angel in both Deltarune and Undertale, both stated and implied. So, if you're familiar with Jaru's theories and find them hard to believe, you might not get much out of this one either. I won't go over those theories in much detail in this post, as it's already long enough, and while I'll reference Jaru's theories a few times, even if they're wrong I don't think it would invalidate much of this theory. You also don't need to know them to understand most of what I'll be discussing, however, a few details make more sense with them in mind.
I'm looking for thematic parallels and interesting story implications just as much as the hard facts, but since we have so few hard facts to work with, you'll see more of the former I think. This will take a while, so stick with me if you care about the evidence.
Here's my theory:
The angel changes depending on which route you play, and when you play the weird route, Noelle is the angel.
Not only that, but you end up turning me into the angel yourself, at least in the weird route, but maybe in other routes too. And, borrowing from Jaru, every route (except maybe one) ends in the angel deciding to reset back to the start of the game. Look into his stuff for why I think that part is the case, but it's not quite as relevant to my theory as much of the info I'll be showcasing here. I'll still be discussing it though, as I think it explains a lot of what happens in the weird route. Much like Undertale's merciless route, it makes more sense after a reset.
I'll be going over all the evidence I can think of in this post, and giving my thoughts on who the angel is likely to be in each route, and why I think it varies.
Direct "angel" mentions in Deltarune:
Spamton and Addison call me angel in the weird route
I say I would hypothetically grow angel wings and fly out of the ferris wheel when I'm riding it with Susie
Alphys calls her cat that she may or may not have a "perfect angel"
The ANGEL'S HEAVEN
Discussion of the angel doll in Rudy's hospital room. The doll was made by Dess and I.
Alvin talks about the angel a few times
There's a clear pattern here of angels being associated with me. Not exclusively, but far more than any other character, other than maybe Alvin, but he's a priest of the angel so I'm not sure that counts for as much. Let's go over each one to see what they can tell us.
"Angel" is used here just like a nickname, there's not much clear context beyond that for its use. Spamton says it when you've cleared out all the weird route encounters and talk to him at his dumpster.
Here's that full conversation:
* [Angel], [Angel]
* ARE YOU LOOKING FOR THE [Ring] of [Thorns]?
* THEN [[Why]] GO TO A DUMPSTER!!!
* THat'll be 1997 KROMER.
* HERE'S YOUR [Ring]! CAREFUL, IT MIGHT [Sting] * EAHEAHEAH
* (You got the ThornRing.)
Addison, specifically the pink Addison, though I'm not sure it matters all that much which one it is, calls me "angel" in a similar way, as a nickname with no clear meaning behind it.
Here's that conversation:
Addison: * If you're something else, maybe a Dating Shoes isn't right...?
Addison: * Maybe I could interest you in a FreezeRing?
Noelle: * Huh...? A ring...?
Noelle: * Faha, sorry, I don't think WE need something like that!
Addison: * C'mon, angel! You can't get stronger without good equipment!
Noelle: * Stronger...? R-right, I guess that's how it works here...
Following this, of course, Kris (or the voice associated with them) has me get the ring despite not being able to afford it, presumably by attacking the Addison with iceshock.
So, clearly there's a pattern to this, right? I could see *one* person calling me angel being a coincidence, but the fact that it's two different people, and both only on the weird route, feels too intentional to ignore, but there's not much meaning you can derive from the way it's used here other than establishing a strong connection between me and the angel, and specifically on the weird route. Additionally, the fact that it's associated with acquiring rings both times could mean something, maybe involving the romantic implication of the rings? It's something to keep in mind!
This isn't enough to say I *am* the angel though, even if that might be a possible implication. We can only be confident that there's a connection, so let's keep going.
2. This one is interesting, being an association I have with angels that isn't on the weird route, one that may not mean much on its own but combined with the other two we just went over is clearly important. I've included a bit more context than is probably needed, because I think it's relevant later.
Here's the conversation:
Susie: * So, uh... Ferris wheels, huh.
Susie: * Kinda makes you wonder what car they were built for.
Noelle: * (It's... it's different than riding one with Kris...)
Susie: * ... the hell's wrong, you scared of heights?
Noelle: * No! No, I... I love heights! Haha!
Susie: * You're, uh, shaking.
Noelle: * Well, um, maybe, I'm a little scared, but... I...
Noelle: * To be honest, I... I actually like... scary things.
Susie: * ... what do you mean?
Noelle: * When we were little, me and my sister would stay up...
Noelle: * And go past our bedtime watching horror movies.
Noelle: * At first I cried, but now... it's like... watching them...
Noelle: * Makes me feel... comforted...?
Susie: * Comforted? I guess I do like slime and blood...
Noelle: * It's scary, but I can just turn it off, right?
Noelle: * Now it's mostly... people, that are scary. Haha.
Susie: * You can just say you mean me.
Noelle: * Haha... umm... well... I guess y-you too, but...
Noelle: * But that's... what's... NICE about you, y'know?
Susie: * Nice!? The hell does that mean???
Noelle: * You're the... good kind of scary.
Noelle: * You aren't afraid to... break the rules, y'know?
Noelle: * ... I wish I could do crazy stuff like you.
Susie: * So, um...
Susie: * If YOU could do something crazy right now,
Susie: * What would you do?
Noelle: * U-umm... Well, I... I...
Noelle: * I'd... I'd jump out the window!
Noelle: * It's a dream, right?
Noelle: * I'd grow big angel wings,
Noelle: * And fly as far as I can, gazing back at it all...
Noelle: * The skyline shining like Holiday lights.
Susie: * ... that's kinda... beautiful?
Susie: * Wait, you wouldn't seriously jump out, would you!?
Noelle: * Hahaha!! No promises!
I actually noticed this one pretty late into crafting this theory, it almost felt like a smoking gun at the time, but obviously given what we've discussed so far this isn't enough on its own. It *is* a third instance of my being associated with the angel, undeniably a pattern at this point.
Growing big angel wings could be like not just being the angel, but becoming the angel. Flying above everything and looking down at all of it sounds like what the angel's role may be, to watch over and protect people, as Alvin will hint later. This solidifies the angel association even more and implies that I might become it at some point, but that implication is still a bit weak for now, so let's move on.
3. Alphys's saucer of milk. I was inclined to think this one doesn't mean much, but for the sake of being thorough, let's give it a good once over.
* Oh, this saucer of milk?
* I-It's for my kitty, MewMew! She's a perfect angel!
* ... uh? What does she look like...?
* W... well, I've never actually s-seen her, b-but...
* Ever since I started putting out milk, it's been disappearing.
* S... So I'd like to think that there's a cat.
* M... My cat.
There's enough mystery here that it could potentially mean something significant, but then we get the reveal to that mystery in the next chapter.
* Hey Kris, this free milk? It's amazing.
* It just magically refreshes itself over night.
So presumably, it's just Susie, and may just be a joke. However, this does give Susie a minor association with being an angel as well! Given how serious of a topic the angel is, I'm inclined to think this, while definitely a joke, isn't *just* a joke. We'll come back to it later, because it might be important.
4. The ANGEL'S HEAVEN is a pretty unclear concept. Whatever it is, Ralsei seems to think the heroes will banish it, or at least try to. It seems to be associated with the Roaring, but that's also an unclear concept. I'm inclined to believe Jaru's theory on this, that the Angel's Heaven is the reset at the end of the game, and the Roaring is the release of magic back into the light world, but it could mean something else. However, I don't think we have enough information about it to draw any significant conclusions about who the angel might be from whatever the Angel's Heaven is, unless it's a reset, the potential of which I'll be giving my thoughts on later. It's something to keep in mind either way, because whatever the Angel's Heaven is, it's obviously very important. Moving on!
5. Here's where we start getting into some bigger evidence for the specifics of my theory: the angel doll in Rudy's hospital room.
* (It's an angel doll.) * (Its lack of facial features is unsettling.)
* That angel? * Noelle n' Dess made it in youth group.
* It's kind of like a good luck charm to me now.
* Oh, right, you and Azzy tried to make one too...
* But you wasted the whole time making huge wings for it!
And, with Susie:
* (It's an angel doll.) * (Its lack of facial features is unsettling.)
Susie: * ... so why do you collect creepy dolls?
Rudy: * Hey, Noelle and her sister made that. Respect it!
Susie: * (Noelle's sister...)
So, weirdly, chapter 2's dialogue doesn't really reveal much, at least not much that you can't infer from other information. It tells us that Susie probably cares somewhat about whatever happened to Dess, but that's it.
Chapter 1's dialogue though, WOW there's a lot here, way more than you'd expect from such a short conversation. Let's break it down line by line, since I think we need to. I'll be drawing heavily on the thematics of this since we have so little hard evidence on the topic, and if this means anything at all, which it probably does, it's likely some non-literal foreshadowing.
* (It's an angel doll.) * (Its lack of facial features is unsettling.)
The fact that it's a doll could be referencing the puppet motif, the idea that somehow even the angel is beholden to fate, even its choices don't matter.
The lack of a face could mean that the angel's identity is unclear, could change, or is unimportant. I think all 3 are true. It's unclear because we don't know who it is, it could change because I think the route you take changes who the angel is, and it's unimportant because I think that, no matter who the angel is, they'll probably end the game by resetting back to chapter 1.
* That angel? * Noelle n' Dess made it in youth group.
The doll having been explicitly created by specific people could mean that the angel is created too, like an arts and crafts project. You might build up the angel over the course of the story. Plus, it's another association I have with the angel. This also associates Dess with the angel, but since she's already my sister, that might not mean anything new.
You could maybe argue the same for Susie's association, that she's my love interest, but the connection there is less solid, and Susie is an established main character, so I think there's merit to considering her association to the angel more separately. Don't count this as a full dismissal of Dess's connection though. I'd like to look into it, but we know so little about Dess that it's hard to really say much for it.
* It's kind of like a good luck charm to me now.
This line probably means the least. It could be a reference to the angel's role potential role as a protector, though. There's a decent chance Rudy will die by the end of the game. If he does die, and I become the angel, my resetting at the end of the game to bring him back, and undoing all of the damage done by the weird route, could be considered protecting him, like a good luck charm. However, that's a lot of ifs, too much speculation to be sure just yet.
* Oh, right, you and Azzy tried to make one too...
Kris and Asriel trying to make an angel is another point in favour of the angel being "made". Kris is our way of interacting with the world after all, so it makes sense that if the angel varies depending on the route, it would be Kris that makes them.
As a bonus, if Jaru's theory on the nature of Asriel (and Ralsei) is correct, and I strongly believe it is, this makes even more sense, for reasons I'm sure are clear if you're familiar with it.
* But you wasted the whole time making huge wings for it!
Wings, thematically, are heavily associated with freedom, not just in Deltarune but throughout media in general. Freedom is something we know Kris desperately wants from many sources, most clearly their interactions with the soul and with Spamton. Given the terrible fate this world seems to have in store, it's something everyone might want. This could mean that, if you focus solely on your freedom, you'll run out of time to make the angel, you won't make one that's complete enough to give you what you want, or, more vaguely, you won't achieve what you're after.
6. Father Alvin's dialogue is kind of a lot to go through, just because he's a priest of the angel, and as such, anything he says could potentially relate. However, most of it doesn't seem as relevant as you might expect, and, to be honest, I remembered him having more to say. Either way , there's still some interesting stuff here.
In chapter 1, if you select "Nothing" after he asks you if anything is weighing on your mind, Alvin says this:
* I understand. * I hope in time you may find the words you seek.
* Let the Angel's power light your way.
This associates the angel with "power". It's a very vague word, but it's used consistently at save points, implying the angel has a connection to saving and loading (and thus, potentially, resets). Of course, it's also used in the weird route. The whole purpose of the weird route, seemingly, is to gain power, and specifically for Noelle (me) to gain power. As I'm already the most strongly associated with the angel, this farther strengthens the connection. Kris is also connected to power, of course, but as I believe your actions determine who the angel is, and Kris is who the player acts through to affect the world, that connection is already accounted for in my theory.
While it could probably be assumed, this also tells us that the angel is likely a very powerful entity. If anyone's choices matter, it's theirs, but I'm not convinced even they can break the theme of the game. We'll explore the most powerful entities known in Undertale and Deltarune later, to see if we can draw any parallels.
Next, chapter 2.
Selecting "Gerson" as a conversation topic yields this:
* It's been a few years since my father passed on...
* Fans of his famous book series, Lord of the Hammer...
* We still received condolences from them until just recently.
* A brave man, brilliant, and sharp.
* Kris, it is a shame you were not able to have him as a teacher.
* And, difficult for Ms. Alphys, as his replacement.
* Let us pray that the Angel will smile upon her.
Selecting "Hammer" gives this response:
* As per the ritual, a hammer is buried in the earth here.
* To symbolize his existence.
* To connect his spirit to the divine.
* Originally a smith by trade, he began writing history...
* And made a turn into telling stories,
* As a means to entertain his children.
* That such a story, created for such a simple purpose,
* Could blossom into such a large, wonderful, world-changing thing...
* That is the majesty of words, Kris.
* My father was blessed to have such a talent for writing.
There's probably not too much to get out of this. The angel is associated, seemingly, with watching over people, and protecting or guiding them, and may be associated with Alphys. Specifically though, the angel is implied as distinct from Alphys, so this connection does nothing to support Alphys potentially *being* the angel, just having some connection. As a student in her class, this of course supports my own connection, but it also could support anyone else in the class.
This also seems to support the ritual of placing monster dust on an important item so that the monster's essence may live on, being connected in some way to the angel, or "the divine". This implies a connection with everyone in the graveyard, and anyone still living who may be associated with this ritual.
Again, those who know of Jaru's Asriel/Ralsei theory will understand why I think this may be supportive of Ralsei being connected to the angel, and by extension, maybe Asriel or even Kris. Outside of that speculation though, I see nothing else from this. The undead have yet to clearly establish themselves as much of a presence in Deltarune, as opposed to Undertale.
Alvin's other dialogue discusses sin, but I can't find anything particularly noteworthy in it, other than sin being associated with a couple lines in Sans's boss fight in Undertale, and by extension the merciless route as a whole. I might come back to this later, but right now, it doesn't tell us much.
Direct "angel" mentions in Undertale:
You might be wondering why I'm bothering with Undertale's angel mentions when we're talking about Deltarune. While they're different games, they're parallel stories, so unless a contradiction is shown or implied between the rules and themes of Undertale and Deltarune, I think it's safe to consider Undertale's lore as part of this discussion, and I feel it would be incomplete if I didn't look into it. Plus, Undertale literally has the Delta Rune in it, and a lot of this information is directly related to Gerson's lore on that.
Here are all of the "angel" mentions:
Gerson talks about the angel when discussing the meaning of the Delta Rune
An old inscription on a wall mentions the angel
The Riverman (or is it the Riverwoman?) mentions the angel
First up, Gerson!
While we go over this, we'll have to figure out what we can carry over from Undertale's Delta Rune into Deltarune's Delta Rune, since some of the details apply too specifically to Undertale to transfer easily. However, we can't 100% dismiss ANYTHING said here as unrelated without some serious consideration, as we're discussing the Delta Rune itself. So you can consider this sort of a Deltarune Undertale Delta Rune interlude.
That emblem:
* Eh? * You don't know what that is?
* What are they teaching you kids in school nowadays...? * Wa ha ha!
* That's the Delta Rune, the emblem of our kingdom. * The Kingdom...
* ... of Monsters.
* Wahaha! * Great name, huh? * It's as I always say...
* Ol' King Fluffybuns can't name for beans!
There are several reasons why I don't think Deltarune has a "Kingdom of Monsters". Here are just a few:
No one mentions it
There's a human in Hometown
There's enough intermingling for there to be a book on how to care for humans in the librarby
There's enough intermingling for there to be "monsters 4 humans" dating ads (Kris clicking on Poppup)
Granted, there are probably still tensions between Humans and Monsters, but whatever they are, I don't think it's enough to cause a complete schism like in Undertale.
So, how much lore can we retain? The "Kingdom of Monsters" is probably out. Does Deltarune have an equivalent? Sort of. The "Kingdom of Darkness" is Deltarune's closest counterpart, being trapped in a different plane you fall down into, for example.
However, the Delta Rune seems completely absent from the dark worlds, bar one location: Castle Town. This is also the only place directly called a "Kingdom of Darkness", by Ralsei. As Ralsei was its only inhabitant, and the Delta Runes were already all over Castle Town when we first got there, this associates Ralsei with the Delta Rune, and by extension, the angel.
This is a little strange, since the Delta Rune is otherwise exclusively a light world thing (barring one example we'll discuss in a moment), implying Ralsei has some connection to the light world. Seeing as he looks almost exactly like Asriel, and his name is an anagram, he at the very least has some connection to a specific lightner, so this isn't out of the question, especially given how religious Asriel is.
However, the Delta Rune, seemingly, can't be the emblem of the "Kingdom of Darkness", at least not primarily, given how often it's used by lightners who have, presumably, never heard of dark worlds. However, the "Kingdom of Darkness" may only be associated with Ralsei's Castle Town, rather than all dark worlds, which would explain the Delta Rune's presence there exclusively. This could tell us that Ralsei knows more about the light world than most, something that seems to be true given the specific directions he gives us to the unused classroom at the start of chapter 2, as well as all the strange lore he seems to know.
The weirdest placement of the Delta Rune, the one that seems to break this pattern, is in Seam's seap. It's prominent in the top left of Seam's shop's background. This, combined with the fact that the music that plays is named "Lantern" for no clear reason, gives Seam a weirdly strong connection to light/the angel, at least compared to any other darkner besides Ralsei.
Could Seam be considered a light in the dark because of a potential relationship with a lightner? As a worn down old plush, Seam was probably very beloved. Or, could that light in the dark theming mean that Seam absorbed a lightner's soul at some point? Spamton implies that's a possibility, as he tries to do it with Kris. Whatever the case, it places Seam in a weird spot. We'll consider Seam more later, there's a lot I want to talk about, some parts much more speculative than others, but there might be enough information to take a decent guess at his origins.
Emblem's meaning:
* That emblem actually predates written history. * The original meaning has been lost to time...
* All we know is that the triangles symbolize us monsters below, and the winged circle above symbolizes...
* Somethin' else.
* Most people say it's the 'angel,' from the prophecy...
Ironically enough, despite Gerson knowing they symbolize monsters in Undertale, I'm actually less sure about what the triangles mean in Deltarune than I am for the winged circle. It may still mean just monsters, but that doesn't feel quite right. The implication seems to be that the angel is more powerful than everyone, including Kris, and the disparity of power between monsters and humans doesn't seem to be a thing anymore. Monsters and humans seem to be on a more level playing field in Deltarune than they were in Undertale, seemingly having physical bodies as well, since they can wield determination.
So, I posit that, in Deltarune, the two upward-pointing triangles symbolize humans and monsters, and the downward-pointing triangle symbolizes darkners. It's still just a guess though, we may not know for sure until we get a more direct discussion of the Deltarune Delta Rune in Deltarune.
The prophecy:
* Oh yeah... * The prophecy.
* Legend has it, an 'angel' who has seen the surface will descend from above and bring us freedom.
* Lately, the people have been taking a bleaker outlook...
* Callin' that winged circle the 'Angel of Death.'
* A harbinger of destruction, waitin' to 'free' us from this mortal realm...
* In my opinion, when I see that little circle...
* I jus' think it looks neat! * Wahaha!
As for the circle, that still seems to symbolize the angel, so let's look at what it meant in Undertale. The angel is someone who's seen the surface, and has the power to free monsterkind, some way or another. This could apply to many people. Frisk, Chara, Asriel/Flowey, maybe even the player if you want to consider them enough a part of the world to have a prophecy about them. Freedom, of course, remains relevant, and may be much more relevant in Deltarune than it was in Undertale.
So, the angel is someone with an ambiguous identity, who, through murder or mercy, holds control over the freedom of those below it, perhaps as a protector, perhaps as a destroyer.
This, I think, is another point in favour of the angel in Deltarune potentially changing depending on how you play it. Even in Undertale, their identity was markedly ambiguous, and with how little information we have on the angel, the fact that attention seems to be brought to that ambiguity in both Undertale and Deltarune probably means something.
You could even argue that the angel changes depending on your route in Undertale, too. Frisk is the most prominent in the neutral route, freeing themself in a variety of ways. As they're the apparent player character (though I posit we actually play as Chara possessing Frisk, hence why we name them), they have the most versatility, but it also makes it hard to say there's any particular way Frisk "freed" everyone. Asriel explicitly frees everyone in the pacifist route, and Chara has a greater presence in the merciless route, freeing everyone from mortality. This isn't to argue that Chara is the cause of the merciless route, just that they have a greatly increased presence there. You could consider it "their route", to an extent.
It's not perfect, but it works far better than I'd expect from a pure coincidence, and you could absolutely make the argument that Frisk frees people in some way in the neutral route, or that the neutral route just doesn't count for as much, since it feels less complete and final than either of the other two routes (neutral has been called essentially "boneless pacifist"). You could also argue Frisk and Asriel share the pacifist route, as it's where everyone learns Frisk's name and they first clearly establish themself as distinct from just a nameless vessel for the player and/or Chara.
Either way, the ambiguity of the angel, and it changing based on route, is pretty clearly baked in to Undertale, and given that they're parallel stories that are likely to share a lot of themes (and already do in a multitude of ways), it factors nicely into a potential variation in the angel's identity in Deltarune as well.
What's "the surface" equivalent in Deltarune then? The light world? If so, all serious candidates so far, except for perhaps Ralsei, have seen the light world. Even for Ralsei, it's possible he's seen it, given that he knows the school's layout, and the game seemingly goes out of its way to never explicitly call him a darkner in the narration, menus, or Ralsei's own dialogue, but instead refers to him as a more ambiguous "dark world being", leaving the metaphorical door cracked open just enough for him to potentially be able to traverse the light world. Even if he is a normal darkner, it could still be argued that, as objects in the light world, every darkner has seen it, so this may not tell us much at all.
* However... * There is a prophecy.
* The Angel... * The One Who Has Seen The Surface...
* They will return. * And the underground will go empty.
The waterfall sign doesn't actually seem to tell us any new information. You could maybe see the specificity of the wording implying that the prophecy only applies to Undertale, as it specifically mentions the underground going empty, which seems to apply more to Undertale than it could to Deltarune.
However, even looking at this with more scrutiny, it's possible the angel's heaven, whatever it is, will destroy all dark worlds, or, by the time it happens, the roaring has already begun, all darkners have turned to stone, and the dark world, Deltarune's closest underground equivalent, has gone empty that way. In fact, I think the roaring being first is the implied, or even stated, order of events. There are plenty of ways to spin this that don't feel too farfetched.
* Tra la la. * The angel is coming... * Tra la la.
This tells us basically nothing. Thanks, Riverperson.
Stuff that's not direct "angel" mentions:
This section is going to go over some miscellaneous stuff. I'm not going to cover everything, because I realistically can't, but I'll cover everything that seems the most relevant to my theory.
I won't be discussing the design of the church, because, despite its obvious relevance to the angel, there's not much info I can get out of it besides the resemblance to Christianity. I tried.
First up, the character with the most angel connections, me!
Noelle, And The Purpose Of The Weird Routes:
So, right away we've got a lot of angel indicators in the character design, most clearly the dark world one. There's themes of christmas angels, snow angels, and when Queen's giant mech thing holds me at the end of Chapter 2, I'm strung up not only like a puppet, but like one of those angels you put on nativity sets.
Even my face is unseen, just like the doll, and I don't show it until I'm released from the hand and out of that angel-esque pose.
At this point, there are so many hints that I'm the angel, it feels almost too obvious! Which is why, on top of being called angel explicitly only in the weird route, I think I'm not the angel in a first playthrough. If I were the angel, and the angel's heaven is something we're trying to stop, why would we intentionally make the angel *more powerful* on a first playthrough? We wouldn't, of course!
But on a second playthrough, intentionally making me more powerful in the weird route to replace the previous route's angel makes perfect sense, and I'm the ideal candidate with all of my angel connections anyway. We're doing exactly what Queen did, albeit more harshly, and creating the angel rather than the knight. If the angel doesn't do what we want, we will simply make a new one. It's a reason for the weird route that isn't pure sadism. I don't think we'll have a repeat of Undertale's merciless route, where you do it just to see what happens. It's already been done, and the steps you take for the weird route are much more methodical and precise. This time, there's a purpose.
Plus, on a second playthrough, you'd know I have some hidden power, at least from Queen, but probably from other sources by then too. After all, the part where Queen mentions my power is immediately after the weird route section, you can't see it if you do the weird route to completion on your first playthrough, so anyone playing normally wouldn't know to make me more powerful, they have no reason to. It has to be a second playthrough, minimum, to make sense, just like the merciless route in Undertale.
So, if I'm not there for chapter 3, and it seems like I won't be, what might its weird route hold in store? How could it farther this goal? I believe the next step is to isolate me from my support network, anyone I might go to for help. That's why we killed Berdly in the first place. If I find out that Berdly actually died, the first people I go to would be the police. As such, I think we'll manipulate Toriel into killing Undyne, who is likely nearby watching over the house, as otherwise I doubt Toriel would be able to sleep soundly.
I bet we'll do it by getting Kris's health low and forcing Toriel to "protect" us with force. This is also supported by my mention of Fireshock in the hospital, as we know Toriel uses fire magic in Undertale, so she'll likely have it in the dark world, and it could serve as an equivalent to my Iceshock. We also know from Undertale that Undyne is specifically weak to heat. Over the course of the weird routes, we'll gradually eliminate anyone I could rely on except for Kris (or whoever is possessing them), letting them manipulate and mold me freely.
The fact that the angel themes are only so obvious with my dark world character design may also be meaningful. Only a certain, darker version of me is the angel. The normal me is just me. It's also interesting how much Chapter 2 seems to be trying to push me as a main character, despite my not being a normal part of the team.
As a bonus, though perhaps this is a bit of a stretch, I'm also wearing a white sheet almost like a ghost, possibly foreshadowing the death and destruction that comes with my being the angel? But that could just be coincidence given the clear angel theming the outfit already has. The pose may also invoke the idea of crucifixion. Knowing Toby's penchant for foreshadowing and double meanings, and how much the angel religion seems to share with Christianity, maybe it's intentional? Speaking of which...
Angels, Demons, and Power:
Lore on demons is incredibly sparse, far more than even something as enigmatic as the angel. Chara calls themself one. Kris has probably tried to summon one with Catti. That's it, as far as explicit mentions of the term in any even remotely serious context. However, despite this, I think it may be able to tell us a few things.
In some sects of Christianity, demons are fallen angels. I've been wondering, are demons and angels similar in Undertale/Deltarune? Or even the same thing? Maybe! Perhaps this is a bit, to borrow a term, dubious, but I think there's a case to be made for them being more similar than you might expect.
Chara matches everything we know about the angel in Undertale, and Chara also calls themself a demon. We know that the angel religion in Deltarune bears similarities to Christianity that feel more than coincidental, so angels and demons being one and the same wouldn't contradict that inspiration. What really makes me think this is important though, comes back to Power.
There are 2 beings in Undertale with power far beyond anything else: Chara, and briefly, Flowey. Flowey comes into power through his own actions, and while he couldn't have done it without our help in either route, to say we "made" Flowey into an all-powerful being is perhaps a stretch. Or, perhaps it's not. It depends on your perspective.
To say we made Chara into an all-powerful being however, not only is that perfectly reasonable, but it even seems to be the intended reading! Here's what they say:
Greetings. I am Chara. Thank you. Your power awakened me from death. My "human soul." My "determination." They were not mine, but YOURS. At first, I was so confused. Our plan had failed, hadn't it? Why was I brought back to life? You. With your guidance. I realized the purpose of my reincarnation. Power. Together, we eradicated the enemy and became strong. HP. ATK. DEF. GOLD. EXP. LV. Every time a number increases, that feeling... That's me. Now. Now, we have reached the absolute. There is nothing left for us here. Let us erase this pointless world, and move on to the next.
That's kind of explicit, isn't it? The blame lies with us. We made Chara into what they are, and we do it through mercilessly attaining Power above all else. Chara doesn't even meet the qualifications to be the angel until we make them into a demon. Even though we're making a demon in the merciless route, we're also making an angel. This all sounds pretty familiar to me!
It even ends the same way as I think Deltarune will. Chara takes control, and resets. Or, erases the world and then eventually resets.
You could also say, then, that "god" is an equivalent term to demon and angel, as that's what Flowey/Asriel calls himself in the pacifist final battle, and the angel seems to take the place of God in the angel religion. So, we're making a demon, we're making an angel, we're making a god, we're making frozen chicken, all in an attempt to drink some of that sweet sweet freedom sauce. Plus, what RPG inspired by the classics wouldn't end with confronting a god? All three routes of Undertale did it!
As for the less serious instances of "demon", I don't think Temmie's demon comic or Alphys's mention of demons ruining the later seasons of the Symptons really mean anything relevant. It's possible that the Alphys one has some meaning, so I guess let's give that a brief look:
* But make sure you don't watch past the second season
* Since they just rebooted it as Symptons Turbo
* They all started driving their own motor-vehicles
* And fighting giant giga-demons and stuff
* The main problem about that is that it kind of
* Lost the focus on family that it had earlier
* When their vehicles were shaped like animals
* And they were friends with the animal vehicles too
So, there's a chance that "when their vehicles were shaped like animals" refers to the rollercoaster cars in the second chapter, matching the second season. But the only potential "giga-demons" we might fight are the titans in the roaring, and those don't really give the impression of being things you can fight so much as forces of nature, mountains brought to life by the magic of a dark fountain, and presumably having so much magic in them that their emotions run wild and they wreak havoc (there's a lot tying magic to emotions in both Undertale and Deltarune, look into it if you're interested!). Unless the roaring happens way earlier than makes sense given the current pacing of the story, or we start fighting some giant demonic entity in chapter 3 with some kind of motor vehicle, this probably doesn't mean anything important.
If the Temmie one has any meaning, I can't for the life of me figure out where to even begin in deciphering it.
A Brief Extended Intermission To Talk About Seam:
It's time to talk about that one outlier Delta Rune again. What association does Seam have with light?
One of the possibilities I touched on before is the answer I've come to. Seam is likely the most powerful darkner we've met because Seam's so beloved by lightners.
Seam used to be owned by Catti, and possibly her family as well, passed down from person to person. That explains why Seam's a purple cat, the somewhat gothic aesthetic, why Seam's so worn down yet has been patched up multiple times, why Seam seems so old, and why Seam was the court wizard. Catti is the only lightner to mention magic as a real thing, outside of dark world contexts, and we know she involves herself in it frequently. Seam is like if she had a family member that was "more goth", as she says she wants.
So, how did Seam get to the school? How does Seam have a history with Jevil?
Catti's family is the perfect one to misplace Seam. They probably donated a bunch of items to the school, like a deck of cards, which is why Seam's known Jevil for a while. We know things get donated, because some of Kris's old books are there. I bet dad cat donated them, he's forgetful enough to accidentally miss Seam being in the box of stuff to donate, and their house is messy enough that they might not realize Seam isn't home anymore. That might also be why there are cardboard stands at the bake sale, they could be repurposed from the cardboard box used to bring Seam there.
This, I think, explains a lot of Seam's light in the dark theming. However, I don't think it's quite enough to fully justify Seam having a Delta Rune just from having a strong connection to a lightner. If angels and demons are the same thing, that could help, as we know Catti has an interest in demonology, and has looked into how to summon a demon with Kris. Seam, then, would absolutely be able to have an association with demons, and thus, angels.
I'm not fully confident that this is the only reason for Seam's Delta Rune, but it's the best idea I've got. Either way, while Seam is obviously important, I don't think Seam has enough of a presence to be a very realistic candidate for the angel on a non-weird route. Which brings us, finally, to...
The End:
Much like "kill or be killed", I think "your choices don't matter" is a theme that applies to the whole world, not just to Kris. The difference is, in Undertale, Flowey was proven wrong. In Deltarune, everything seems to be set out to prove its theme right. The secret bosses and Seam, those characters with the most knowledge of the world and its lore, seem to agree that the world's fate is sealed.
Even Ralsei, who also has a lot of lore knowledge he seemingly shouldn't, might agree with this. His approach, however, is not to lose hope, but to try to make sure his adventure with Kris and Susie is the most fun it can be. That's why he doesn't want you to think too hard about Spamton NEO. That's why he almost never asserts his will over Kris or Susie, and lets them make all the choices. When the destination is set in stone, it's best to just enjoy the journey, and he wants to make that happen for Kris and Susie. He doesn't want you to worry about a fate you can't change, so he never brings it up, and he tries to make sure you don't think about it. He only puts his foot down to stop the roaring, something that would cut that journey short, and perhaps he holds out a bit of hope that there might be some way to change fate.
I think the true message of the story isn't really "your choices don't matter", but "in a world where your choices can't affect anything on a grander scale, how will you live your life?". Jevil decides to focus purely on having fun, consequences be damned. Seam loses hope, but finds comfort in those that share his knowledge of the inevitable. Spamton tries desperately to escape his fate, but at the end of the pacifist version of his NEO fight, he finds new purpose in his existence, to live for the sake of himself and his new friends. Even when he fails to be freed, he still gives himself to his friend Kris, holding out hope that, maybe, they can break their own strings, even if he couldn't.
All we have left is figuring out how viable our candidates are for being the angel of a non-weird route. I've touched, already, on why I don't think I'll be the angel in that route (or routes, maybe), so we'll move on to who I think is the most likely:
Susie:
If I had to guess, I'd say Susie is the most likely by far of the candidates we know of to be the angel in a non-weird route.
But why? Isn't she always making her own choices? Doesn't she have the most meaningful impact on the world of any character we know of, besides the one we control? Yes, she does. And that's exactly why I think she'll become the most powerful being in the world, able to do just about anything. As the person who's choices have always mattered the most, what an irony it would be to, in the most important moment, with all this Power, have her choices not matter.
But, aside from the impact, why else do I think this? Well, first, she's the only other character who's ever been explicitly referred to as "angel". Susie is also the most powerful attacker, and will often refuse to equip items that lower her power. Power is practically baked into Susie as a concept, including power over choices. But in this world, your choices don't matter. Your fate is already sealed.
The roaring happens before the end of the world, before the angel's heaven. When Susie gains this power, the roaring will have already started. Lightners will die, darkners will turn to stone, including Lancer. Her hand will be forced. All this power, and she has no option but to reset.
But what even is Power?
I think the heart on Susie's belt may be a clue, not only to what Power is, but to Susie's eventual acquisition of it. Power is vague, but its function in Deltarune seems to at least match Determination. I think power is short for "soul power". Soul power is a very vague concept, but Determination falls under its purview, and thus the ability to save, load, and reset.
It's unclear exactly what sort of Power you gain by becoming LV 20 in Undertale, but the results seem to be much the same: control over the timeline, and perhaps even the power to attack reality itself. So, did Chara potentially retrieve the 6 human souls when we weren't looking? It doesn't seem like it, they were multiple rooms away, under the floor, and we cut immediately to the conversation with Chara after killing Asgore and Flowey, while still in the throne room.
Plus, Chara is a human, and while perhaps they're not one anymore by the end of the merciless route, or perhaps being a spirit means they're not human anymore, it would still feel a bit odd for them to have absorbed the 6 human souls, especially without us even seeing it. We see Flowey do it, why wouldn't we see Chara do it?
As such, I have to assume there are ways to attain this reality warping Power without needing human souls, which means we don't have to account for our candidate killing multiple humans to gain this Power. Or monsters as the case may be, if our candidate is Kris or some other human, as monsters can wield Determination too in Deltarune, though I don't know if that translates to other aspects of soul power.
Of course, LV is still tied to killing, and while Susie so far seems to be the most violent of our candidates, killing people to gain Power seems pretty far out of character for her, especially by Chapter 2. But Deltarune has a second system of LV used in the dark world that isn't tied to killing. You level up at the start of Chapter 2, whether you used violence or not. Maybe that holds the key?
Another piece of evidence, and a bit of a strange one, is the theme of romance with Kris. Both times someone calls me angel, it's when I'm getting a ring, and the romance themes of that are intentionally played up a bit. Kris may have a crush on Susie, that seems to be implied a few times, but most clearly by them liking Susie tea so much, by clicking on a Poppup ad for "monsters for humans in your area", and by them clearly preferring Susie when asked who they'd take to the fair at the end of chapter 2.
As I'm known to like scary things, and I mention Kris's name first when visiting the hospital after the weird route, it's possible I'll develop an unhealthy crush on Kris in the weird route, maybe even replacing my crush on Susie. Spamton even calls me Kris's "side chick" in this route, not only supporting the romance connection between Kris and I on that route, but that Kris has a different love interest as well, a "main" one, rather than a "side" one. As such, who Kris ends up in a romance with may also relate to who becomes the angel.
I can't be sure that Susie will be the angel, and while I think she is far more likely a candidate than anyone else we know of, our evidence is still limited. I'll be thorough and examine the other options as well.
Ralsei:
Ralsei is clearly based on Asriel (or maybe the other way around, as the idea for Deltarune came first), and we know that Flowey, a mysterious being with the essence of Asriel, met all the requirements to be the angel in Undertale. There are many clear parallels between Ralsei and Flowey that are easy to find if you're interested, so many that I don't see how it could possibly be a coincidence. So, if we know someone very similar to Ralsei in a lot of ways was the angel in Undertale, why do I think Ralsei won't be the angel in Deltarune?
Well, first, it feels too easy, and too much of a rehash. Deltarune is a remixed version of Undertale to some extent, right? So it would be odd for someone so much like Asriel to be the angel all over again. We also don't even know that darkners have souls in the first place, and while Ralsei is clearly no normal darkner, it still doesn't help his odds at all.
Ralsei is also never referred to as "angel", while Susie is, despite Ralsei clearly being more fitting to be called "angel" than Susie. He also, of course, knows of the angel's heaven and seeks to stop it, along with a lot of other lore knowledge, including how some future events are supposed to go. If he were the angel, he'd probably know it, and of course, knowing the lore doesn't mean he's the angel, as Jevil, Seam, and Spamton know it too.
So, aside from Ralsei having a clear association with Delta Runes, there's really not much evidence of Ralsei having a strong enough angel connection. There's the fact he has heal prayer, which may be associated with the angel. I also have heal prayer, and I think I'll be the angel. However, I think Toriel will also have heal prayer, as she's the only one to explicitly use healing magic in Undertale. I think you can have heal prayer with any sort of healing/angel association, it doesn't have to be a strong one.
The game does seem to place an odd emphasis on Ralsei being in romantic situations with Kris, like the swan boat ride, but Kris doesn't reciprocate. If romance with Kris is actually connected to who the angel is, it may work for Ralsei as well, giving him a bit more of a connection.
Ralsei is absolutely a possible candidate, I won't dismiss him. He has a few things in his favour, more than anyone but Susie. I just feel like it makes far more sense, especially from a storytelling perspective, to give Susie the role of the angel, unless there's more than one non-weird route so you can do both.
Kris:
Kris has fewer angel connections compared to either of the previous options. We know they've looked into demon-summoning, so if demons and angels are the same thing, that's a connection. They also resemble Chara, much like Ralsei resembles Flowey/Asriel, and while those connections exist and are numerous, they're not as strong as Ralsei's connections with Flowey/Asriel. Kris also has some Frisk connections, and Frisk may also meet the requirements to be an angel in Undertale. So, there's at least something here.
If the power of the angel is achieved through souls, Kris would probably need monster souls, but we don't actually know that monster souls are strong enough to grant that sort of power. They can wield determination, sure, but determination doesn't seem to be the only aspect of soul power, just part of it. After all, Kris is the only one who can seal the fountains, and they do it with their soul. Kris's soul may be unique, and I think it is, Jaru's Asriel/Ralsei theory can tell you how and why, but they don't demonstrate significantly higher power than anyone else on the team, just their own style.
Kris, unlike Susie, has not been called "angel". Kris's house has Delta Runes on it, but that's probably Toriel's design choice, not theirs. Kris is certainly mysterious, and has some unique abilities, but them being the angel feels too off. It feels like it would run counter to "your choices don't matter" if the character we control is the one to have all this Power. And if the normal route ends with them being so powerful, and we get to control it, it doesn't make sense why Seam, Jevil, and Spamton are all so convinced that the world's fate is sealed. Maybe, like Chara, they take control from us? But that, again, feels like too much of a rehash, and to do it, they've always demonstrated needing to remove their soul, seeming to be greatly weakened in the process.
It's not impossible! Certainly not! But there's just not enough evidence for me to think Kris has a strong case.
Anyone Else:
Berdly doesn't seem like an important enough character. If you kill him in a weird route and then abort it, if he's the angel in a normal route, what happens at the end? His personality also doesn't fit well for such a serious role, and we've already defeated him. It doesn't make sense from a writing perspective.
Toriel already had a major role in Undertale, I don't think she'd get one of the most important roles in Deltarune as well. It also would strike me as odd just by the vibe of it. She'll become important in chapter 3, I'm sure, but that feels like it's a little late to start getting to know the character that will become the angel.
Catti is even worse in this regard. She'll probably have a major role in chapter 4 at the earliest, and that just feels way too late to introduce your angel. The same, of course, goes for Jockington, but he also has the Berdly problem of not being suited for such a serious role.
Alvin has clear angel connections, but he doesn't even have a dialogue portrait. He doesn't seem important enough, and I think he's probably more tied up with knight business.
Lancer has nothing going for him. Absolutely nothing. He also, again, has the problem of not being suited for such a serious and dramatic role as the angel, and as a normal darkner, he should turn to stone before the angel's heaven even happens. This also rules out King and Queen.
Asriel might be an option, but again, him being the angel feels too much like a rehash, even more than Ralsei, and if we don't learn about him for a while, it'd feel kind of cheap, especially to pull the exact same stunt again as Undertale's pacifist ending.
That's about it!
Thanks for sticking with me on this, and suffering through all my ramblings about the variable angel theory, even the parts that only sort of related. Or, if you just skipped to the end, how dare you! But here's the TL;DR for you anyway:
The angel changes depending on the route. In the weird route, it's Noelle. In the normal route, it's probably Susie, but might be Ralsei, and probably ends with a reset to undo the roaring. The weird routes are about manipulating Noelle into replacing the normal angel by the end of the game, and removing Noelle's support network so she has no one but Kris to turn to. First Berdly, and in chapter 3, Undyne, so Noelle can't go the police if she finds out that what happened to Berdly was real. Seam used to be owned by Catti, before probably being accidentally donated to the school along with other toys, including playing cards, which is why he has a history with Jevil. "Power" probably refers to soul power, of which Determination is a part, and angels and demons may be the same thing.
Part 2 (it's twice as long)

Accidental Mistress - Library Magic (NSFW)
It's that time again! Today's release is a spicy one, and possibly one of my favorites. I hope you enjoy.
(For more Accidental Mistress content, check out the Master Post.)
Please do not reblog to non kink blogs, minors DNI.
Title: Library Magic
Word Count: 3,300
Content and Warnings: snz (male), NSFW
In which Oraion accompanies his Mistress Noelle to study dusty, old arcane tomes at a library, with predictable results.
----------------------------
The Tigate Librarium had stood in the central square of Tigate City for so long, no one was certain anymore if the Librarium was named for the City, or the City for the Librarium. What was certain, however, was that the current Head Librarian, Ms Ogtrop, was both the most efficient and organized Head the Librarium had ever employed, and also its most terrifying.
At six foot three, it was uncommon, though not entirely unheard of, for Demon Lord Oraion Leroux to meet those of his height or slightly taller. Encountering a mortal he needed to crane his neck to look at, though, was about as common as convincing a lindwyrm to play fetch, so the fact that he needed to tilt his head a fair degree to make eye contact with the Head Librarian was a novel, if somewhat unnerving, experience. The green cast of her skin and short tusks jutting from her lower lip only added to the singularity of the encounter. A full-blooded orc was a rare sight these days.
“Those books are on the second floor, Section B, fifth row, third bookcase, shelves four through seven. All books in that Section are restricted, and as such can neither be checked out nor leave the Librarium. Is that clear?”
“As crystal, ma’am.”
“Good. And if you think for a moment that you could possibly get away with smuggling any volumes out… Don’t. I will know. I always know.”
Oraion did his best to appear as a physical manifestation of conciliation. “Wouldn’t dream of it, ma’am.”
“Good.” The Librarian paused and took a moment to look Oraion up and down with her golden eyes. “My shift ends at eight o’clock, by the way.”
This, at least, was more familiar territory. Throughout his long life, Oraion had turned down countless hopefuls, though this time he had to admit he was tempted. The thighs that peeked out below the hem of Ogtrop’s skirt—the cut of which was painfully inadequate at fulfilling any sort of intended modesty on her towering frame—looked like they’d crack a watermelon like a walnut. A night with her promised to leave you with bruises and bite marks—and you’d thank her for the privilege. Instead Oraion inclined his head with grace.
“You flatter me, madam, but I am afraid I must decline. I am already spoken for.”
“Hm. Pity. However, your integrity is laudable. Well then, please note that eight o’clock is also when the Librarium closes, so you would do well to conclude your business before then.”
“Of course. Thank you so much for your help.”
“Yes, yes. Now, if you will excuse me, I have business to attend to.”
The imposing Librarian turned on her heel and marched off, her heavy footfalls reverberating through the floor with a rhythmic beat. Oraion’s gaze lingered just a moment on the way her full hips moved, then he returned to where his Mistress, Noelle Violette, waited by the entrance, wringing the end of her scarf.
“Were you able to find anything out?”
“I was indeed. The Head Librarian gave me the location of the arcane tomes you’re looking for—come, I’ll show you where they are.”
He guided Noelle to where Ms Ogtrop had indicated, passing along the rules for the handling of restricted books as they went.
“They can't be checked out? I suppose that makes sense, but… Augh, that means I'll only have a few hours to study them! I was hoping to take them back to the inn with us tonight and then bring them back before we leave to go home tomorrow…”
Oraion chuckled. “And did this plan of yours involve any sleep?”
A light blush of pink came to Noelle’s fair cheeks. “Well, some I’m sure, but this is a rare opportunity! I could always catch up on sleep later. Besides, that won’t matter if I can’t check them out. I’ll just have to use the time I do have wisely.”
Row after row of shelves were stuffed with a multitude of tomes. The air was laced with the scent of old paper and leather. Once they located the desired shelves, Noelle browsed through the volumes, pointing out a number of titles with great interest and enthusiasm.
“Oh! Look at this! They have a first edition copy of Nolan Kingston’s The Grimoire of Stars! And these scrolls—they’re from Tsothatan’s Noth-Yngath Esoterica! Just look at all of these: Artum Codex, Librum of Ninai, The Book of Far Realms— Oh my goodness, they have a copy of Tome of the Watcher! After it was published, the author Soth Sholei disappeared, and no one ever found out what happened to them!”
As she babbled excitedly about the texts, she handed book after book to Oraion until he was carrying a sizable, and somewhat heavy, stack. He couldn’t help but notice a thin layer of dust on most of them. Just the thought of it made his nose twitch. A smirk tugged his lips: perhaps this little study session wouldn’t be as boring as he’d feared.
“Mistress, I think perhaps this is enough to get started, at least. In fact, I’m not convinced you’ll be able to get through all of these before the Librarium closes.”
Noelle gave a little start, like she was waking up from a dream. “Oh! You’re right, I-I’m so sorry. Let’s find somewhere to sit down.”
Nearby were long, oaken tables surrounded by a large number of stout chairs with plush seats, all of which were presently vacant. The entire section of the Librarium they were in appeared quite deserted. Oraion carefully placed the stack of books on the table and took a seat next to Noelle, pulling his chair against hers. There were no arm rests, so they were close enough to touch, especially if Oraion leaned in.
“I hope you don’t mind if I read a bit over your shoulder? There might be something I can help with, after all.”
“Oh, um, a-all right.”
He ducked his head so his lips were close to her ear and dropped his voice.
“Always nice to have one’s nose in a good book.” He brushed the tip of his nose against the outer edge of her ear for emphasis. He felt a shiver run through her.
“Oraion, I-I don’t think now is the time…”
“Oh, of course, Mistress. My apologies. I wouldn’t want to disrupt your studies. Shall we begin?”
He took the tome from the top of the stack and placed it on the table in front of them.
“The Book of Sorcery. A fairly straightforward title.”
He flipped open the dusty manuscript with a flourish and probably a bit more force than was strictly necessary. In the light of the arcane reading lamps that hovered above the table, little globes of light encased within intricate brass cages, he caught a shimmer of swirling dust particles. Things were bound to get interesting now.
“So, Mistress, what would you like to review?”
“Hm, let me check the table of contents.”
As his Mistress pored over the book’s pages, Oraion felt a feathery flutter ripple through his sinuses, making his nose scrunch slightly. He said nothing, of course, but kept an eye on Noelle’s reaction. She hadn’t noticed yet, so he ran a finger beneath his septum and drew in a quick, sharp sniffle. Noelle’s leg against his own went tense for a second—she was definitely paying attention now. Oraion tried not to let his satisfaction show on his countenance.
“Um, m-maybe this section on conjuration? I would really, uh, like to know more about how you’re able to conjure things, you know, so easily.”
“Ah, you mean like this?” With a grin he held up his left hand and snapped his fingers, summoning his handkerchief. After all, he was going to need it shortly.
“Y-yes, like that.” Oraion noticed that Noelle’s gaze flicked from the cloth in his hand to his face, and back. He had a feeling he knew exactly what she was looking for in his face. As that feathery feeling intensified, he was certain his nose would be flushing pink soon, if it hadn’t started already.
“Well, the truth is -snf- that I don’t actually, ah, c-conjure anything. -sniff- I merely summoned it. I—” It was growing difficult to keep his breathing steady, and his eyes were beginning to water as his eyelids fluttered. Still, he could quite clearly see the pretty blush forming beneath Noelle’s freckles on her cheeks, along with the blossoming arousal he sensed within her. She squirmed in her seat.
“O-Oraion…”
“Oh dear, h-how terribly inconvenient. -sndf- These old b-books: they muh-must be du- heh- dusty…”
Below the table, he ran his right hand up her leg, squeezing her thigh while at the same time he pressed the handkerchief to his nose.
“ih-hiih- … hiihh! hiiHH’ISSHIUU!”
Through his hand on her leg he could feel the little jolt of pleasure and excitement she felt. He didn’t often get the chance to tease her in public like this. It made her titillation all the sweeter, the tinge of embarrassment she felt. She might not openly admit it, might even outright deny it or grow annoyed with him, but she could not hide from him that it got her even hotter.
“Oraion! S-stop that!”
“Y-you know I can’t heh-help it, Mistress. It’s the- the- eh-heh-heh! mmnh- the dust- HEHHSHIU!”
Noelle looked around nervously.
“B-but, you’re being loud! We’re in a library!”
He leaned in and nuzzled her earlobe, even as he felt another buzzing prickle building.
“Afraid we might gehehht in t-trouble? -snnff- hehh-hehhehh!”
“Y-yes!”
Oh, but she tasted so sweet like this. Gods, he would fuck her right here on the table if she wanted, library rules and propriety be damned. She would never go for that, of course, but that didn’t stop him from imagining it. Just how wound up could he get her, he wondered? He attempted the herculean task of holding back the itch that burned in his sinuses.
“B-but Mistress, you know heh-HEH! nngh- h-how teh-terribly ah-haahhllergic I am to du-dust. I ca-can’t hehhehhelp how sne- sne- sneezy it meh-makes me…”
He kept his nose touching her ear as his nares flared, letting her feel every twitch. As he did so, he slid his hand further up her thigh, pressing his fingers between her legs. He couldn’t last much longer, and if he had anything to say about it, neither would she.
“Th-the m-more I heh-heh! hold bahaahck, the w-worse it g-gets!” He gave a particularly wet sniffle right next to her ear. “Oh no- I-I’m guh- gonna- ehh-heh! M-Mistress, I n-need to sneeze!”
Certain he was about to incur the wrath of Ms Ogtrop, Oraion could not stop his chest from heaving as his nose crinkled.
“hiihhhIIHHhhh!”
With a little sound of desperation Noelle leapt up and grabbed his head, shoving his face directly into her chest and holding him there by hugging him with both arms. The fabric of her blouse pressed against his face, with his nose squeezed directly between her soft breasts. His hands found her hips, and he grabbed hold as the tickle overtook him.
“hhhchhfff! hh-isshhh! nnn… hhih- hii-hhssshhiuh! aeshhiu! … eh! … heh! … hehh-CHSSHT! CHSSHT! HISSHHHTT!”
What would have normally been a powerful and vocal fit was instead muffled and subdued as Noelle wrestled it into submission with the luscious mounds of her chest. Once Oraion’s sneezing subsided, she relented and loosened her death grip on his head, allowing him to at last come up for air. He looked up at her standing over him as he sat back, sniffling wetly. Her entire face was flushed a lovely bright scarlet—a color he was perhaps a bit partial to. His gaze dropped back to her blouse, where he found he’d made a rather wet spot between her breasts. He summoned an apologetic look as his gaze rose back to meet hers.
“I’m sorry, Mistress, but I… I couldn’t help it.”
To be fair, the books truly were dusty. It would have gotten to him at some point anyhow, so why not help it along and get it over with? Still, Oraion supposed he had earned the scolding he was no doubt about to receive.
It took him rather by surprise, then, when Noelle instead grabbed his chin and forced her tongue into his mouth. He was quick to adapt, of course, sucking on her tongue and chasing it with his own when she pulled it back. His fingers dug into her hips, pulling her towards him until she was straddling his lap. She draped her arms over his shoulders and around his neck as she continued to kiss him hungrily, sucking on and biting his lips and tongue. The lust that burned within her intoxicated him and stoked his Hunger.
He supported her back with one hand while the other loosened the catch of her leather leggings and slipped inside. She was warm and wet and waiting for his touch, and she moaned into his mouth as he pushed two fingers inside her. The feel of her became his entirety: the way she enfolded his fingers, the slick sweetness of her tongue in his mouth, the building pleasure that flowed into him more and more.
Noelle brushed the tip of his nose with her own, sending a ticklish wave through his sinuses.
“C-careful -snf- it’s still pretty sensitive…”
“Oh dear,” she murmured as she nuzzled him again, “how terribly inconvenient.”
Even as his breath caught she kissed him. The buzzing prickle spread, making it hard to concentrate, but his fingers did not stop their rhythmic stroking.
“M-Mistress, I… I n-need to- heh-HEH!”
It wouldn’t take much to send either of them over the edge. Oraion could hardly keep his eyes open, and he felt more than saw Noelle’s fingertip gently tease his irritated nares.
“W-wait- Y-you’re guh-gonna m-make me- ih-hihh-HIHH!”
Her hand still behind his neck twined into his hair and shoved his face down into her cleavage.
“hiihh-CHHWFF!”
Once more his sneeze was muffled by the supple flesh of her breasts, and in that moment her pleasure poured into him like a river breaking through a dam. It washed over him in waves, and he let himself drown in it as her hips bucked over his lap. Her pleasure became his own, no telling where one ended and the other began. Each held onto the other for dear life, Noelle clutching Oraion to her chest as he hugged her to himself with his arm around her back.
As they both came down from their shared euphoria, Oraion realized he was biting Noelle’s breast through her shirt. He did not remember making the conscious decision to do so, but she didn't seem to mind. He let go and looked up at her. She was taking her hand out of her mouth—she had bitten the side of a forefinger to keep herself quiet in the stillness of the Librarium.
He kept his eyes on her face as he slowly pulled out of her. The sweet expression she made and the little sigh that escaped her were the perfect dessert to his delicious meal. She opened her soft brown eyes, her cheeks still flushed and rosy, and she leaned in to kiss him once more. He nipped at her lower lip with a sly grin.
“Still afraid we're going to get in trouble?”
“Yes, but now I care less.”
Her lips touched his even as she giggled, a sound that twisted her ever deeper into his heart. Falling for her was a terrible idea, he knew that, but moments like this, the happiness she gave him, made him powerless to resist her gravity. No one made him feel this way, not since his first love, so long past that it may as well have been in another world entirely.
The sound of heavy footsteps approaching broke them from the hold of the afterglow, and Noelle hurried back into her own seat as she adjusted her clothing. She flipped open the pages of the book and leaned over them like she’d been studying them all along, though her face was still quite red. Oraion found his handkerchief had fallen on the floor at some point, and he quickly scooped it up and wiped off his fingers.
The hulking form of the Head Librarian strode into view, carrying a library cart in her hands. Oraion imagined her leaning over to push it normally, and he got a pretty good idea of why she preferred to carry it. She placed the cart down and filed away a few volumes on a nearby shelf. Oraion heard Noelle breathe a quiet sigh of relief.
"Everything all right over here? I thought I heard some sort of commotion, and you’re looking rather flushed, Miss."
“U-um.” Noelle’s voice came out in a terrified squeak, her eyes wide behind her glasses.
Thinking quickly, Oraion lifted his handkerchief to his nose as though he were wiping it, but instead he gave his nostrils a quick tease.
“S-sorry, it’s my fault, I- I- hih- ih-hihh! HIIHTCHHiuh!” He managed to muffle the sneeze by pressing the cloth firmly over his nose, which he hoped was a reasonable facsimile of how it had sounded into Noelle’s shirt. “Nguh -snnff- Sorry, my a-allergies are acting up, and- heh! heh-CHHFF! -snf- I’m afraid I’ve rather embarrassed her with the noise. -sdnf- This is a library, after all.”
The orcish librarian narrowed her eyes. “Hmph. Just keep it down, and do not disturb the other patrons, please.”
“I-I’ll do my best, ma’am… hhihghshh!”
Appearing satisfied, Ogtrop picked up her cart and moved on. Once the sound of her footsteps had faded, Oraion couldn’t help but laugh, smothering the sound behind a hand. Noelle playfully smacked his arm.
“I don’t see what’s so funny! We could have gotten into so much trouble!”
Though her words chastised him, a thread of laughter wove through her voice as well.
“You’re the one who jumped me!”
“Oh, and you didn’t stir up all that dust on purpose?”
“You know it would have happened sooner or later! Now, do you want to keep bickering and draw Ms Ogtrop’s attention again, or do you actually want to study these arcane tomes?”
“Fine, but this is not over!” She went back to the table of contents and found the page she had initially wanted to review. “Now, I believe we were going to talk about the use of conjuration before we were, ahem, interrupted. Weren’t you saying that you don’t actually use conjuration?”
Oraion grinned and placed his arm across the back of Noelle’s chair as they both leaned over the text. “Yes, that’s right. You see, conjuration is the art of creating something from nothing. Were that true, then the handkerchief wouldn’t exist before it appeared in my hand. I would literally be creating it from magic. What I do is a form of summoning…”
While Oraion continued his explanation, Ms Gwendolyn Ogtrop, Head Librarian of the Tigate Librarium, continued her work of filing away the book returns in Section D. She heaved a sigh and tried not to let her envy weigh too heavily on her mind. Men of that caliber were rare enough, but the fact that this one had adorable sneezes too? That human girl didn’t know what a treasure she had. Although, with how red her face was, perhaps she did…
Ogtrop tried to push it from her mind as she tucked another book away. Someday the perfect man for her would walk through that Librarium door. She would whisk him off his feet and into a whirlwind romance, instead of just another link in a lengthy chain of one night stands. Someday happily ever after would happen for her, too.
At least, she could hope.

not exactly art ideas but stuff that you can try to draw concepts from; any characters who are shopkeeps? what would be your concepts for a weird route? does anne know about the other dark worlds/have any ties to existing characters?
Thank you! Those are a lot of great stimuli!
I'm not sure which one i'm gonna bring to paper first so first i'd like to give you a written answer for a general idea beforehand.
1: I'm not too sure who the actual shopkeepers are gonna be, but I have at least two shop locations planned so far! One would be a saloon in the desert town of Ye Olde Home, and the other would be located in the Tenna Studio headquaters. One of the shopkeeps would probably be Michael "Mike" Wave, though I'm not too sure where to put him! Thematically I have it so that most physical objects in the Dreemurr's house become Ye Olde Home characters, while Neo Home characters are generally TV show/industry based. Then again, from what we know about Mike from Spamton, he does seem to be involved in TV show business. I really wouldn't want him to be a copy of Rattel M Bones' interpretation though, don't wanna copy from the big boys. I guess i'll figure something out.
2: ooo the weird route. That's probably one of my favourite things I've been thinking about. Unsurprisingly, it'll be another party-member-corruption-killfest, this time using Toriel as our lethal magic user. Though she isn't as easy to convice to attack the enemies as Noelle! She'd actually function a bit like how Susie did in the first half of chapter 1, except that instead of always attacking, Toriel would either defend, perform a T-Action (which never really progresses the battle) or use baked-goods-based healing magic. After all, she's Kris' mother, she wouldn't take commands from her child, especially not if they're violent. There is a way to convince her though. If you go out of your way to repeatedly mock Lil' Pardner in the first battle against Sheriff Garby, they will become so enraged that they will put you in a similar instant death bullet barrage like Flowey did at the start of Undertale, and just like there, Toriel sees herself to have no choice other than attack to save her child, though this time in a much more extreme way. After that, she realizes she should've trusted Kris to follow their commands, and you'll be able to control her from then on. I'm not gonna spoil much more since this is getting long, but just like in chapter 2, you WILL have a secret boss fight at the end of the dark world, though this time it'd be a little different.
3: Kinda! She isn't related to any of the royals, but she is aware that there have been other dark worlds before hers, and also that hers wasn't created by the one who brought the previous ones to life. My theory is that only Knight-made dark worlds follow Chess Theory, and that this chapter would sort of be an intermission in that sense, going from the evidence that there are only 5 unique non-pawn chess pieces, but 7 chapters.
I hope that answers your questions! I'll definitely make some drawings based on these ideas in the future! Thank you!

you think genshin characters get their vision and then create an outfit to match it? or their vision just so happens to match their color palette?
but like,, what if their chosen signature outfit is blue themed and they're a pyro??? how will everyone know that they're a pyro vision wielder and not a hydro or a cryo????? god forbid its a teal blue and they're mistaken as an anemo and their friends are dead!!!!
- curse anon
on god fr, i have not given this anymore thought than surface level. random bullshit go
i think that the outfits we see aren’t their day to day colors. albedo’s is the closest one off the top of my head to what he typically wears, but most everyone else has… it’s like their more formal outfit?
like baizhu. man doesn’t have the time nor energy nor patience to go through all those charms, but for more formal occasions, such as news of the creator visiting the pharmacy…
ayato and ayaka may be an exception just cause they are both heavily involved in politics, but like. kujou sara? we all know how impractical the genshin outfits are, it’s insane sometimes
if i had to make a sort of ranked, non exhaustive list, then it would look kinda like this:
outfits closest to day to day wear: venti, albedo, xiao but that’s a bit of a stretch, the raiden shogun but idk if that technically counts
outfits are a ‘formal’ attire, but it’s still somewhat feasible that this could be somewhat daily wear: ningguang, kazoo, heizou, diluc, tighnari, a good proportion of the male cast
outfits are clothing reserved for special occasions/events: baizhu, yun jin, beidou, kokomi, noelle, nilou, a good proportion of the female cast (cause GOD knows how mhy feels about practical outfits for their fem characters)
the way i see it, they would want to make a good impression, typically by dressing up in their best! obviously there’s some bias what with hoyoverse and their failure of a believable design team, but we make do with what we have. i ranked them based off my entirely subjective opinion, so obviously this isn’t set in stone or any sort of authority, but hopefully that wasn’t a waste of your time to read.
to address visions… perhaps that ties into the prior chart. bringing back up albedo, our lab-safe king, nothing about him really says ‘geo.’ you could recolor his vision to anything and it would likely fit him fine. his design isn’t centered around visions, its about character and practicality. he’s an alchemist, he wears a uniform, it’s all plain white so he knows when there’s a spill, he wears gloves and tall boots with low heels, i went on a rant about his design before and i’m .2 centimeters away from doing it again.
the archons get free passes on their colors for obvious reasons, and klee is a borderline pyromaniac so she gets one too. jean, lisa, amber, and kaeya (to an extent) all fall in the last category from before, which would translate as.. like a way to signal “hey, this is what i’m good at”? i’m losing the words for it, but a “this is my vision, this is what i offer” sort of deal?
of course, this is biased data since from a game design standpoint, hoyoverse would obviously want it clear that gorou is geo, yelan is hydro, hu tao is pyro, etc etc so it makes sense i can’t explain everything (barbara isn’t all that obviously hydro, yet keqing is clearly electro, and yet their characters would clash on that… but whatever i’m not an artist). however, from a purely sagau standpoint, the best solution i can come up with is sometimes it’s because their formal attire draws attention to their vision (notably lisa, ningguang), and sometimes they just have a sense of style that differs (heizou, beidou probably), or sometimes it’s just for practicality’s sake (razor, albedo), and i have a feeling this is directly proportional to how close their outfits are to day to day wear
#m1d : [chats]#m1d : [secrets]#blood curse anon#i am ready and willing to discuss characters’ clothing off field if anybody cares abt that#not kidding when i said i rambled abt albedos outfit btw. i’ll do it again too cause i was entirely right the first time#albedo our lab safe king

STS time! (No pressure tho)
All your characters got arrested, oh no! What crimes did they commit to land them in jail (and which ones could talk their way to freedom)?
Thanks for the ask! So glad I managed to make it here before midnight.
Let's categorize these. You said all characters so this is a long one. Every character of importance in TSP. Not just the core cast. But I'm not doing minor characters lol. And SOTL isn't developed enough I'm not going too crazy with this.
Also I'm likely to be vague about the specifics of the arrest to get the sense of their personalities. Also I think I'll include a few arrests now that I think about it. Thanks!
All of it is under the cut. Uh sorry I picked a lot of characters.
Least likely to break the rules
Carmen - her whole thing is doing things The Way They Are Supposed To Be Done. She would have to be driven to quite the breaking point. She's extremely loyal, more so than people think. So if it comes between her and her loyalty she may just break the law out of loyalty. Could she talk her way out of freedom? Eh she'd yell but she'll need help. If she managed to get the upper hand and control the situation maybe but I doubt it.
Noelle - similar to Carmen though with an intense loyalty mainly through blood family, but her problem is following the law. May be arrested if she oversteps her power. She could be pushed for murder. Could not talk her way out. Punch, sure.
Lexi - I think this poor girl would cry if she were arrested. Also a loyalty thing to push her, but it would be a long time coming. In a state of emotional turmoil she may do something drastic. Actually I know she will. Could be pushed for murder. Can talk her way out if she manages to calm down.
Akash - probably would have a crisis if arrested too. If pushed really far could get into a physical fight but honestly it would be hard getting him arrested. He could easily talk his way out. Probably by annoying someone.
Gabriel - oh man. He's arrested because it's someone else's fault. He would never intentionally. He probably caved enough to help a little bit but then got over his head and got arrested for kahoots. Probably could talk his way out.
CJ - more easily coerced to do illegal things than Gabriel but it also will be for helping someone else. Could talk his way out.
Hye-Jin - if someone provoked her she will provoke back, so that's a prerequisite. Something personal probably came up and she was defending someone. Doing the right thing kind of deal. Probably could not talk herself out.
Kelsey - same as above but she will definitely get physical and lose control of her powers. Could not talk herself out but if calm she could complain up a storm.
Would do something illegal
Gwen - won't consider breaking the law unless she has personal stake in it. That being said she would steal something. Maybe even something classified. If possible, she can use others weaknesses to get out of a situation. It has to be just right for her.
Jedi - mans would break the law more if he wasn't so conflict adverse. He wants to uproot the system trust me. If he manages to crawl out of the hole he has dug himself, that. I don't think he could talk himself out.
Robbie - probably vigilante justice. Yes he could talk his way out. Even annoy his way out.
Teo - could be arrested for anything honestly. If dedicated he will just do things on a whim with no regard for the law. Could talk himself out I think.
Wade - also vigilante justice. Probably trying to expose a corrupt government. Could talk himself out.
Issa - you'd think she would never break a rule but she will. If she's pissed off enough. If you get her to that point run. Capable of seriously injuring you. Could talk her way out.
Carla - what she needs is a confidence boost and then she'd easily be able to break the law. She would do something relatively minor, no violence involved, usually for another person's benefit. She'd try to talk her way out but 50/50 if it works.
Ewan - has the confidence to break the law but he wouldn't want to do it alone I feel. A sense of justice seems to be common in this section. Might be able to talk his way out, surprising many.
Tyler - yeah he would break the law if something was stupid. The kind of person who would break a law for the sole purpose of proving how dumb it was. Probably could talk his way out of it.
Anathi - would break the law because he hasn't exactly interacted with people before. He doesn't know what's going on other than that it doesn't sound right. Could not talk his way out.
Raissa - well I mean she has murdered and kidnapped and overthrown a government for herself so. Yeah she could be arrested for those things. I'd say she be able to talk herself out of it. But some things you cannot talk yourself out of.
Atsila - yeah extortion or trying to overthrow a government sounds right. She's confident she did the right thing and will be able to talk her way out of it. She cannot
Liam - bro could overthrow the government and be able to talk himself out of it. But honestly he's more likely to do smaller scale things. Could break into places or maybe spy.
Xitlali - same as Liam only she'd actually decided to overthrow the government
Love rule breaking
Rose - the girl has been emotionally repressed for years she has a lot of steam to burn. Probably could just be graffiti though. I think she has it in her to talk herself out of the situation.
Niri - honestly I don't think he'd be caught. He's so unassuming but he has a huge rebellious streak. Would take a lot of rule breaking to get him caught. Might be persuaded to break a bigger law which would get him caught. He can't speak orally but has the potential to "talk" himself out if he's given the means.
Maddie - physically attacking someone for sure. Maybe something really bad due to her shapeshifting abilities. So many animals are deadly. She won't feel any guilt. She'd try to defend herself. Could not talk out of a situation.
Ash - she'd break the law in pursuit of her own pleasure. Drugs, doing other crimes to get drugs. I can't imagine the mess she'll be as an adult let alone now. Could not talk her way out. Psychic powers may be activated.
Parker - he'll break the law because he's bored. Get arrested for the thrill. Can 100% talk himself out of most situations.
Jazlyn - slightly more bothered than Parker about getting arrested but she had fun doing it. More likely to be for an emotional reason if it's really bad though. She'll deny it. Yes she can talk herself out.
Sam - probably she got emotionally compromised and lashed out at something. Maybe also was doing it for a thrill ride to cover something bothering her. Honestly could talk herself out of the situation once she calms down.
Alex - less bothered than Sam for sure. May bring a few friends in, too. Will have so much fun doing it she won't think of the consequences. Could talk herself out of it unless she's unfamiliar with the law she broke.
Hope this was good and if you read this far thank you??? This is also a good resource for ME because I definitely need more arrests in Part Three specifically.

Hello, wanted to ask your opinion on the theory I've seen pop around that Noelle and her sisters are the basis for the Attack type androids that Yorha makes
My long standing theory was that she's one of the dragon weapons that are mentioned in some of the timeline nitty-gritty. I actually already wrote a little bit about my thoughts about this before (here) since there is some stuff in YoRHa Dark Apocalypse that hints at some bigger connection - but that was when her chapter first came out so it's a little bit out of date
But inspired by your ask I took a look around her new story stuff on nierrein.guide a little bit - and I found out that Recollection of Dusk actually has stories like the ex stories and Noelle's has just released like a week ago.
My findings:
In short: Kind of. A little bit. In a little bit longer: What the fuck
(spoilers below the cut for like everything, i go into a little bit too much detail here)
Read the Recollections of Dusk story, it's wild (and as always the art is beautiful... the colors they use for the final one? amazing. best art design in all of gaming)
So Noelle is actually a surviving human (probably a clone) that androids found frozen in cryostatis and then modified to turn her into a weapon who is also now able to turn into a red eyed dragon beast person whenever her sister who remains in her mind (probably the original human noelle was cloned from) makes her lose control in order to enact eternal vengeance against the world that did this to her(*put a pin in this).
She is also continually hunted by defense androids that are programmed to kill her ever since she left the research facility - and since they do eventually catch and kill her, it's unlikely that she is a 'prototype YoRHa model' in the sense we would probably think of. Doesn't mean that the androids working on her didn't use their research to develop the defense androids into the YoRHa models (the focus on (passing on) memories that is part of the story has big YoRHa black box vibes to me), but especially since she wasn't even an android to begin with I would call her more of a cousin or aunt to YoRHa rather than a straightforward "this is the next step".
It also basically confirms that she is indeed one of the dragon weapons. It would fit right into that spot in the timeline since humans are dead but androids exist (also Ex & RoD Noelle wear very similar coats to Ex Yuzuki and Hina's Hamelin coats and if I remember correctly Hamelin were involved in creating the dragon weapons) and in one of the RoD story chapters she drives through a canyon - which kind of implies North America to me - which is where the Kingdom of Night is - which is where the dragon weapons are. The only thing missing is the mention of Machine Lifeforms or the Aliens to really solidify it.
There is also something going on with the YoRHa Dark Apocalypse stuff I pointed out in my old post and the Seed of Resurrection Copy from there. I haven't really formulated a full theory yet, but it's likely that Noelle's dragon stuff and cloning comes from a (Pseudo-)Seed.
Now, to return to the point about Noelle's sister in her brain - this actually is also touching on another theory I have, but this time not a lore theory but more of an interpretation theory:
Does Drakenier have an overarching bad guy? The answer is of course yes, the motherbeast awaits freedom not really in a straightforward way, but if we do look at a common theme then maybe we could point out that there are a lot of evil red eyes of mind control in Drakenier.
But Yoko Taro games are always about something. Did you know DoD 1 came out on 9/11 and then Replicant, which is about 9/11, references DoD 1 in place of 9/11? They always have a point - so surely if there is an overarching thing coming back all the time it has to be a symbol for something, right?
The Red Eyes Disease in DoD 1, the Logic Virus, the Legion's Red Eye (which we saw with Yuzuki's Ex story) and now Red Eyed Noelle all are characterized as a manipulation of a human through hatred of the world/society as it currently presents itself. Basically every time a character gets to a point where they just really feel slighted and turn against the world their eyes turn red.
I think - and this is just a longwinded explanation to get to a "duh." level conclusion - that Red Eyes are Fascism.
I had to think about it again since Noelle's influence of her sister that makes her lose control was also mainly rooted in nostalgia (something the story specifically points out) and I remembered that i read somewhere that fascism is also very rooted in that (a 'return to a better time' sort of thing) - it just all fits together =v=
Anyways. Sorry for the ramble and for bringing in topics you did not ask about. But thanks for accidentally making me go on this journey! And thanks for being interested in my thoughts on this kind of stuff :3

Strange Deltarune Dream
Alright so I had a dream about a future chapter of Deltarune (not 3…I wanna say 5-6? I don’t know), and I thought it was neat so I wanted to share what I remember from it.
Basically, the chapter started with Ralsei telling Kris Susie and a few others how they had to complete some obstacle course again due to some improvements made. However, before that could happen, screaming was heard from across the room. After a little while, the door opened, revealing Noelle carrying a dead body (who I figured was Dess considering they looked like a deer). Noelle tried to remain calm, and the others were..rightfully freaked out. However, Ralsei suddenly became enraged, so much so that he had tried to attack Noelle with a motorcycle (I didn’t question it since I had assumed that since Lancer had a bike it would only make sense). We then entered a battle as where we played as Noelle against Ralsei. I believe when we selected the talk option, “Heal Prayer” turned into “Purlion” (It means stealing, but when I looked it up it meant freedom??). As the battle went on, Noelle’s sprite looked more and more exhausted, with the text box only saying “Tired.”
A bit after that, the gameplay suddenly shifted to Ralsei, who still seemed angry. I had to walk along a long hallway. There were a few encounters along the way, but Ralsei easily killed them (yeah..the game said they were dead). Eventually, at the end of the path was Kris, and a battle ensued. At the end, the camera shifted to a top down bird’s eye view, where Ralsei knocked Kris away and proceeded to create a dark fountain (in the..dark world). Once Kris got up, Ralsei stabbed them and the chapter ended.
I think there were chicken nuggets involved somewhere, but I can’t fully recall.
#Deltarune#Noelle#Kris#Ralsei#dream#Deltarune chapter#i keep having dreams about undertale and Deltarune apparently?#Is this a sign?#idk

your favorite undertale / deltarune theory (or a theory you like)? c:
send me asks about my fandoms! | always accepting
ohhh that's a good one. here's a few that came to my head! i don't think i can narrow it down to just one.
undertale:
"chara is the narrator" is probably my favorite theory for undertale. i think there's a pretty good chance it's canon, and if it is, it adds a whole lot to their character that we wouldn't otherwise have.
that's also the only one i can think of for undertale, off the top of my head.
deltarune:
"papyrus is the knight" is a good one. there's gotta be some reason he's being teased but not actually shown, right? i think it'd be a fun subversion of fans' expectations for the character, and i'd be really interested to find out what his motives are if it's true. i also just think it would be cool lol.
"the mayor is the knight" is also a good option!! and probably one of the more likely ones, considering she's without a doubt going to be a major character in some sense. plus both of her daughters are heavily implied to be intertwined in the big picture of the plot in some way or another, so their mother being the knight would fit right in.
(honorable mention to "dess is the knight" btw which is also very possible)
"asgore appears in chap 3 instead of or along with undyne" is one that i remember a friend bringing up awhile back, not sure if it's a widespread one or not, but i like it personally. could make for some fun character interactions considering toriel is almost definitely going to be there.
also!! i'm gonna put something i recently thought about under the cut (because this post is getting long), not necessarily among my 'favorite' theories so to speak, but something i think is very possible.
so, toby fox recently revealed that chapter 3 is not going to be very plot heavy. which has made me doubt that it's going to have a weird route like chapter 2 did.
i'm actually starting to wonder if chapter 2's weird route really is going to end up being something specific to chapter 2, and to get a little more on the nose, specific to noelle.
her personality and relationship to kris was the perfect setup for that to happen, and imo that deliberate setup isn't really there with the other characters.
( except for possibly ralsei, who definitely has some kind of weird relationship with kris, or even more likely, the player developing. but i imagine that's leading to something else. )
like i mentioned earlier, there is a heavy implication that the holiday family as a whole (i'm including rudy here even though i think his involvement is mostly going to be with noelle's character arc) is going to be very important to the overarching plot.
if the weird route really is specific to noelle, and not something that's going to occur again with any other character, that could easily tie in to whatever they're leading up to with that.
but!! we'll see. i also wouldn't be surprised to find out i'm wrong and there are weird routes every chapter, lol. (or potentially every other chapter if chapter 1 not having a weird route is part of a pattern and not just because it was technically a demo.)
#color's ever-revolving interests | fandom stuff#asks#undertale#deltarune#vhanikq#thank you for the ask !!

most likely this question has already been asked, but in your opinion, how will the errorization (character that turn into Errors like Error Sans) of deltarune characters such as; Susie, Ralsei, Lancer, Noelle and Berdly (1. sorry for the repeated question, 2. it's me @yegorsworld, maybe I have a problem with the message or something)
To me, I find it doesn't make much sense character wise depending on how people go about the whole thing.. They kinda just slap the Error motif on a character and that's it? Wich, if they like the Error theme then good for them but there's so much more one can do with the concept!
I have a few Error like characters myself, such as Permafrost Noelle and Ello. (Fun fact, the dream Ello was from actually involved Error Sans wich is why some themeing carried over in the final design)
Permafrost has what would be considered a "Geno Sans" equivalent since Geno and Error are (I'm pretty sure) the same person and her personality takes a different route but with the similar goal of destroying AUs.
Ello, however, is a mainly a mess of code and was removed from their universe. Thus giving that wandering outcode feel. Even though Ello isn't the destructive type.
I also have Error Tasque Manager from a while back. She probably fit Error's theme and personality the most. Seeing AUs as "chaotic" and wanting to remove them to "maintain order".
I've seen a few other characters with Error versions such as an Error Ralsei and multiple Error Spamton's, some with different themeing. There's also an Error Kris as well. Though, I don't think the creators for most of these fellas are even active anymore and alot of them don't have much character development.. So it's just kinda slapping a Deltarune character with an Error coat of paint.

Skeleton Darkners is in that space where i don’t buy most of the Evidence cited for it but i also don’t buy a lot of the of the arguments i’ve seen against it. the evidence feels like an overthinking of cherrypicked details that are more likely coincidences than anything else. on the other hand i feel like a lot of the refutations betray a lack of… i dunno… curiosity?
“shouldn’t they just be objects in the light world?” yeah. exactly. they should be. if they’re darkners walking around and retaining their form in the light world then that means they’re anomalies. is that not an interesting possibility in a game that incorporates glitches and game-breaking behavior into its diegesis? in a story that seems interested in examining the process of story-creation and the relationships between creators, creations, and audiences, in which darkners represent self-aware fictional characters? doesn’t that seem consistent with the skeletons' generally anomalous natures? why the hell do they have dark world doors in their house???
“why isn’t ralsei making a fuss about it?” who’s to say he knows about it? he doesn’t know about jevil or spamton before meeting them and they’re absolutely Problem Darkners. i don't think the evidence holds that ralsei is all-knowing; he has a Prophecy and some way of detecting other Fountains when they open, but he doesn’t seem to be clued into stuff otherwise. not to mention... if the person who’s feeding him information is also one of the people who escaped, then it follows that they could keep that information from him if they needed to.
“but how did they enter the light world at all?” <- a question i’ve posed myself in the past that is currently unanswerable, though we do know that spamton thinks it involves using a lightner’s SOUL. where’d he get that idea from? did he just make it up because he’s Random and Unhinged or is it possible he learned about it from someone? are there any known lightners who are presently unaccounted for? i can think of one. that does bring up the question of “did sans and papyrus take SOULs too?” to which i’d say i’m EXTREMELY skeptical that either of them would do that lol. but it’s possible that it isn’t as simple as Steal a Lightner SOUL, Become a Real Boy. maybe a Lightner SOUL is just part of a bigger equation? why does the story even have spamton make such a big deal out of the possibility of a darkner “reaching heaven” in the first place if that isn’t an idea it’s looking to explore further?
i think part of the issue is that most of this theorycraft centers around sans and papyrus being darkners and i just don’t think that’s the most fruitful lens for interrogating this given the current information. there aren’t majorly compelling reasons right now for why either of them should have originated as darkners, but i do think there are compelling reasons to think gaster in particular might have. light and dark are a balance, right? we have our Forces of Light. who’s our Force of Darkness? gaster’s entire deal centers around darkness, in both literal and metaphorical senses, as a major motif. he’s a satan figure, a representative of temptation and want; he’s a gnawing absence, an unknown that begs to be understood; he’s an eye peering through a crack in the wall. ENTRY NUMBER SEVENTEEN seems to discuss a descent into darkness beyond dark. memoryhead has only six faces until you count the laughing skull that they comprise. we may even have a direct foil for gaster in a specific missing lightner who parallels him in situation yet contrasts him in motifs. they’re mutually connected to noelle, who’s attuned to the unknown, a conduit between the Real and Unreal, the only lightner gaster seems to attempt to contact directly (barring the tree rooms, which may have more to do with the Player than they do with kris). does it not make sense for this story’s greatest arbiter of darkness — the one who, by the story’s own logic, is fulfilling a certain Purpose to a higher/greater power by facilitating the Player’s entry into a layer of reality below theirs — to be, himself, a darkner?
#again i’m not sold yet on this theory but i do find it weirdly compelling.#im just kind of infatuated with it right now lol i can’t stop thinking about it. the possibilities. the implications#if the skeletons originated as darkners then whose Will was it that initially gave them forms?#$ 666 mystery man lore hell

OK I had an idea for a snowgrave route involving K_K it's called Power Up (this is long just needed to get all my ideas for this au out there)
So to start the route you have to beat all the enemies with violence up until you fight Sweet Cap'n and K_K. You have to dance with K_K and only K_K and then buy the Mecha Saber from if you did I right you'll hear a ding
You fight Berdly as normal and Ralsei and Susie will leave you party as normal but after they leave a text box will appear saying
[For some reason you feel like you need to go back to the trash pit]
You can't go forward for here until you go back to the trash pit where you'll find K_K diging though the the trash she'll explain that she come here to find some cool stuff and got split from Cap'n and Sweet
K_K will then suggest to join your team cos kris friends have also split for them so you both can work together to find em so K_K will join you party
Their is then a Virovirokun in the next room kris and K_K fight it truly kicking off the run
I've always thought K_K would like the support/healer of the group who can't really deal good damage He has two moves Heal song and Power up
Heal song is just almond milk not much else to say
Power Up is a move that will will power up all ally moves depending on have much TP you have the more TP the stronger the move will be
You Truly start the route you need to use power up at max TP doing this will deal a lot of damage to the Virovirokun they won't run away and instead will turn red and then disintegration into dust
A text box will pop up with K_K looking horrified before they ask kris
"Kris did we just..."
The snowgrave ding will play you and K_K will can now progress forward
You keep progressing forward kill all the enemies with K_K powering up your moves noelle won't be in the room where you meet her though because you took a lot longer to get to her because you know
K_K will also sometimes just refuse to do what you ask the only thing they'll do all time without exception is using Power up or spareing
nothing happens story wise until you get to the Addison they'll talk about the Freeze ring but K_K will say that they don't really think they need a ring
When you walk away the Addison will ask
"You know you two may not want a ring but can Interest you in a brightlet?"
(The following interaction will then happen)
K_K: "a brightlet? Aww that sounds cool but I don't have that money?"
❤️:Get it :Let's go
K_K: "Oh your gonna get it for me? Thanks Kris how much is it?"
(Same as the freeze ring it is be one more D$ then you have)
K_K: "oh... we don't have the money sorry"
❤️:Get it :Let's go
K_K: "...get it? Kris we both don't have the money..."
❤️:Get it :never mind
K_K: "k-kris w..we don't have the money do you what me to steal it cause I will n-"
❤️:Get it :never mind
K_K: "K-kris... we can't just..."
❤️:Power up :never mind
K_K: "..."
(The screen will go black followed up by the sound of K_K using power up then a slash then the the turning to dust sound before they screen fade back)
(K_K: "did I just... do that... did I just help them... no no Kris must be doing this for a reason...)
K_K: "hey kris why are we doing this?"
❤:we need to get stronger to beat Queen :...
K_K: "...that... that makes sense ok let's go find somemore enemies..."
The snowgrave ding sound will then play
Their will be no music after the the conversion
K_K over world sprit will change from a happy smile to a more unsure smile this include all their battle sprits
The sprit they use for magic will also change from K_K throwing her hand in the air to silently praying
Now the Brightlet is an interesting item ìt ups K_K magic makeing so you need less TP to use Power up but it will also add the trance affect to K_K so they begin to question your judgement less but still have some control over their actions K_K will also auto equip the Brightlet and they will also no longer refuse to do what you say
The laser wall puzzle is the same kris stands on the first button and K_K will stand on the second one but K_K starts thinking to themselve after the puzzle
(K_K: "getting this bracelet was good right... its fine... we're just getting stronger...but why is it getting harder to think...why do I just wanna see kris... no no thats horrible")
:It's horrible ❤:it's natural
K_K: "huh I umm"
(K_K: "w...was I thinking out loud...)
The snowgrave cyber city music will start to play and until you get to spamton you won't get anymore dialogue
Spamton will tell you your kill count but when your done killing you can buy the Dazband from him for 1997D$
When you equip the Dazband to K_K their talk sprites overworld sprites and battle sprits will change their pupils go from the yellow colour they are to white and their expression will become more blank they also will do anything kris says without exception
Their will be no Berdly fight and you and K_K go through the snowgrave short cut to queen mansion their will no npcs and no susie and Ralsei
You defeat every enemy up to queen where she will be waiting for you she'll fight try and fight you but susie and Ralsei will show up tell up there some "dangerous freak" running around
Queen is just like why can't I fight them Ralsei explains why the fountain needs to be closed she like "oh didn't know that" but you make kris pull out their sword and they tell K_K to use Power up
K_K is just about to but Sweet and Cap'n show up panicked cos they where looking everywhere for her K_K at first is extremely confused as they don't remember anything after they equip the Dazband
Susie seeing how confused K_K is says
Susie: "kris told you to do something call power up? Don't know what that was about what have you two been doing"
K_K realising that they where just about to help kris kill queen and they can't even remember doing it they fall to their knees sobing cap'n and sweet immediately starts comforting K_K
Ralsei will say that now is probably a good time to seal the fountain
You can try and interact with K_K but the text will say
[he's just say "I'm sorry" over and over again now would be a good time to seal the fountain]
Like in snowgrave spamton is here and you have the boss fight with him the reason he got in cos queen was really distracted with the crisis going on
You call for everyone
Susie
Ralsei
Noelle
You then call K_K
The screen fades to black you hear the sound of power up being used a slash and then the sound of dust spreading
There are a few more differences like Sweet cap'n and K_K still have a shop in Castle town they still sell ya stuff but they all like a little down especially K_K
K_K also won't talk you can ask about K_K but they'll just tell you that K_K won't even tell them what happened
#power up#deltarune#deltarune kris#deltarune k k#sweet cap'n k k#deltarune snowgrave#snowgrave#deltarune susie#deltarune queen#deltarune rasiel#deltarune sweet#deltarune cap'n#deltarune chapter 2#i feel bad#i swear#you pretty much mind control K_K into helping ya kill people#K_K probably had some trauma now#also they cant unequip items without you telling them so#you still have them under you control with the Dazband#also why they can't unequip stuff

I have a Hollow Knight AU titled ‘Afterlife’. I don’t have as many artworks for it as I would like, but regardless I thought: what if the Deltarune characters were in it? It wouldn’t make sense for them to exist alongside the main characters, because one of them - >clears throat< Asriel to be exact - has an incredibly OP power that could mess up ALL the power dinamics of this universe, so, instead, they will be friends of a character who lives decades after the main story, sorta like a spinoff. So here they are. I’m sure Susie and Noelle are important characters too, but I don’t know about Berdly, since the bully’s role’s already taken.
Main character: Kris Dreemurr. The rules of this world are kinda complicated, but demons are the same species as angels and their physical traits depend on magical interactions caused by their genes but even more by their environment. So Kris having horns is normal since they were born in Hell, and no matter how much angel medicine is trying to supress their magic, hormones be hormones and do their thing. Kris’ deepest secret however is that sometimes… they feel like some things happen repeatedly. Not like dejavu, stronger. But there isn’t anyone who seems to notice this, so they just keep it to themselves, thinking it’s just their imagination or something.
Here he is. The reason I had to put this set of characters to live in the future. His save and load abilities grant endless opportunities for the King to kill and abuse the main characters of the earlier storyline, so there would be no reason for him not to use them there, so Asriel would be simply not in the picture to prevent this. He gets discovered at the age of 7 or 8, around the same time the King kidnaps Rin, the kid he will later claim to be his son. Rin was a demon originally, a spiderdemon even, but has been getting magic replacement therapy since he was a toddler, so unlike Kris he has wings and a haloo, making him believe he’s actually an angel, and his parents are the two biggest assholes in the world.
Quick note: Asriel’s been trying to hide his duties and relationship with the King from his family, especially from Kris. He hasn’t met them in a long time because of this, but ‘been sending them lots of letters. He just don’t want Kris to get involved in any of this, or to see what a monster he has become thanks all the horrible things he was forced to do, and getting disconnected from people’s emotions, yada-yada.
There’s Dess too. She’s a very cool character alright. She was kidnapped as a child and had to live on her own, while gaining her own traumas of course. Ever since she and Asriel met again, she feels a very deep connection to him, like they understand each other more than anyone else could. Asriel is kind of his usual sociopath though, saying things like ‘What if I killed you several times before, and you just cannot remember?’ and ‘One day you’ll going to become boring too. A stat on a screen. Just like everyone else.’ Dess isn’t someone who can be scared off by these statements, nada. She believes that what matters is the current timeline, it’s the only one she can remember anyways. So if none of the terrible things happened this time, it woul surely mean it was the best course of action to not do them, right…?
And finally, Karla, my beloved Hornet x Quirrel fankid. Even though her childhood was scattered with all kinds of horrible experiences, she still loves her parents and everything they gave her… even if they’re gone now. Rin is her younger brother who was taken away by angels and was raised to be the King’s son. She feels guilty since, because she believes it was supposed to be her responsibility to protect him. Regardless, she is SO ready for revenge and to kill that disgusting Monarch. She can also detect loads, so with the King and Kris she is the third person to be capable of this. She is very close with Dess, dismissive of Asriel, friendly with Kris, and there is… someone else she made friends with, watching them from the shadows…

Haven’t done a reblog chain in a hot sec but eh I feel ok so might as well
I don’t really play video games so my list might look a little basic
1. Undertale - I used to be really into this game when I was in 5th-6th grade, back when it first released. I fucking obsessed over it, with most of the videos I watched at the time being undertale fan dubs. Even though I never completed the game then, I loved it to bits. At some point though, I kinda grew out of it. I never really outright hated the fandom, but I stayed far from it. I thought it was embarrassing that I nearly cried after reading an undertale comic, so I kinda just saw it as one of those things that you look back with embarrassment. I never touched the game until this summer, where I finally decided to play it again to cheer me up after some extremely traumatizing events. It was the first time I actually completed a true pacifist run, and I damn well nearly sobbed at the end. Several months later, I’m still kinda sad about it, how I wish one character got a happy ending, yet I’m glad the rest did. I was at an all time low when I played it, so it struck a really deep chord within me. It’s probably the only fandom I actually consider myself to be in; I read an undertale fanfiction that nearly made me ugly cry, which, like, isn’t very different to how I used to be in fifth grade, now that I think about it. I don’t know, I just think the game is neat, and I truly have never been the same since I played it.
2. Deltarune - of course I had to play it after the goddamn experience I had from Undertale. Undertale still holds a much more special place in my heart, but I’m still interested in Deltarune nonetheless. Honestly, a lot of the characters feel more thought out than some of the Undertale ones, and they’ve kinda grown on me more and more over the months. “Lost girl” and it’s hidden MIDI guitar cover really does make me empathize with the loneliness Noelle (or possibly a certain someone else) feels, and I sometimes feel embarrassed to say that it’s possibly one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever heard of. I’m really excited to play the rest of the chapters, whenever they come out.
3. A Short Hike - although I’m not as obsessed with this game as the previous two, I often consider it to be just as charming. It’s not really anything too endearing, I just think it’s a very sweet experience, something to put your mind at ease and relax. There really isn’t any set plot or story for it, you can just do fuck all with the game. It evokes this sense of exploration most of us have as a child, and while I never really experienced that feeling, this game helps me grasp an idea of it. I should probably play it again sometime, to be honest…
4. Minecraft - there really isn’t much to say about this one, mostly because I think we all experienced Minecraft sometime during our childhood. For a very long time, i spent most of my days with an iPad and making buildings for a city I never completed. I used this game to bond with people that have forever changed my life, for better or for worse. I’m really not into it nowadays, but I cannot ignore the sheer impact it had on how I came to be.
5. Roblox - I really couldn’t come up with another game other than this one. If I did, I would replace it, but I couldn’t. That being said, I grew up with Roblox as much as I did with Minecraft, and I have a lot of fond memories of playing with my family on it. Probably the first time I was involved with an online community, with devastating effects.

DOUBLE TRAUMA CONGO
December “Dess“ Holiday is missing. At the same time, she’s probably not dead. Noelle’s search history apparently includes a lot of “December Holiday“... which would make more sense if Dess is a missing person, and Noelle is desperate to know if she’s been found. Other evidence can be found in this post by TheAmazingSallyHogan.
Noelle talks about how “the four of us” (Kris, Asriel, Noelle, and Dess) would go explore together, sometimes scary places. Take Noelle to the door to Spamton’s shop (in any route) and she comment’s that it’s nostalgic. Go to the bunker in Hometown, and Snowy and Monster Kid will gossip about how there’s rumored to be something scary in there... and make a comment that suggests Kris has some relationship to the bunker. (This is also in @theamazingsallyhogan‘s post... read it, it’s good.)
Even though we only started “playing as“ Kris in Chapter 1, the wagon and stain on Kris’ floor suggest they’ve had possession problems for a lot longer than we’ve been around. They have an entire protocol for temporarily de-possessing and re-possessing themselves, to the extent that Toriel shrugs it off as just a thing Kris does sometimes. Sidenote: this is the main reason I think the Red Soul, the real player character of Deltarune, is going to turn out to have prior history and ties to this world’s story and lore, and not just... literally the Player manifest into the game world.
Furthermore, Kris willingly putting the red soul back in their body after removing it, and their jerky movements when when it’s not in their body... suggest they need the soul to function healthily, even as it prevents them from have complete autonomy. And yet, the SURVEY section of Chapter 1 shows that the Red Soul we control is a transplanted SOUL, foreign to Kris’ body. If Kris needs a soul to function, but the soul they’re using to stay alive isn’t theirs... where’d their real soul go?
Side note: Susie calls Kris a “zombie“ and a “corpse“ in quick succession near the beginning of Chapter 2. She doesn’t mean it literally, I imagine, but from a textual standpoint its an. Interesting thing for the game to try shoving in our faces, isn’t it?
I think Kris’ possession and Dess’ disappearance are both connected to the Bunker incident.
Whatever happened in the bunker led to Kris’ current situation - they became soulless, and at that exact moment (or perhaps sometime afterwards) also became possessed by an outside SOUL with its own consciousness.
The bunker incident also led to December Holiday’s disappearance. The exact nature of her disappearance could’ve been anything from mundane tragedy, to becoming permanently lost in a Dark World, to even becoming entangled with nonexistence in the way Gaster and his followers in Undertale seem to be.
I imagine a decent chunk of Noelle and Kris’ story will involve further exploration of The Incident™ and how it affected both their lives, so this is my shot at speculating on it. Hope you find it interesting!
