Focusing on Positive Energy
I'm having better days. I've made some changes, like spending LESS time on social media and using my phone less in general.
No more using the phone on the toilet! I know it's silly, but let's be honest, that's where most social media consumption happens. Instead, I've put some comic books in the bathroom and now I enjoy reading while "taking care of business."
Tumblr is the only social media platform I still use a bit. It's a safer space, it's slower, and it helps me express my thoughts without having to interact with "people I know."
I need to get my energy and focus back.
In the morning, first things first: meditation.
Then, I go to the gym four times per week to build muscle and get stronger and stronger.
Planning my day also helps, from smaller to bigger tasks. It gives me a sense of control and fulfillment.
And last but not least, I take a lot of walks. Walking in my village, in the calm of the Dutch summer, just me and my audiobooks, calms my nerves.
Whenever bad thoughts come, I repeat my positive affirmations, which I also keep on a note on my phone. So when I'm tempted to go on social media, I open that note instead.
And when things get really bad, I blast some good music and dance around. It might sound silly, but it's scientifically proven that physical activity can improve your mood and give you a bit of endorphins to keep you happy.
So far, this is working pretty well (along with therapy), and my second week of job hunting has been less desperate than the first one.

It’s been wonderful. But mostly exhausting, physically and emotionally and mentally. Present me is tired. What used to come relatively easy is now taking so much more effort and energy that I’m not sure how much more of this I can handle. I don’t know exactly what robbed me of the passion I had for drawing. I still haven’t figured out what exactly brought me to this place. How I hit the point of burning out so badly that still had not recovered fully. But what I do know is that I’m tired of feeling this way. I’m tired of being tired. I’m sick of not being able to do stuff. I’ve been investing a big part of my energy in building habits. Because resolutions don’t work for me. I made a habit tracker (Patreon supporters can download the template!) to keep me motivated and accountable. But habits come with repetition. And repetition demands executive function. The second and third slides of this post are screenshots of my December and January newsletters. The second slide is my intention for the new year. The third one is when I talk about building habits. HEYYYYY HI LOL. it is a reallyyyy good book. i'm honestly having a ton of fun with it and i recommend it! i must set the disclaimer though that:
it is a very very long read. like 100 chapters if i recall correctly? usually this story is divided in multiple volumes for the whole thing. i am actually reading it in small pieces each day since i never had the habit of reading much + there's a lot of stuff happening in the chapters themselves with so many characters so it gets a little overwhelming if you're like me and aren't accustomed to it. it's gotten better as i've read for 3 days straight now though. #buildinghabits
there's multiple translations too and i'm reading the 2012 Anthony Yu's one that's like a rework of his own first translation from the 80s? i think? it includes poems throughout the prose and has an index for terms that non-eastern audiences might not be familiar with (like mythological references, name explanations, chinese puns with no direct translation to english, etc. i really appreciate them as a mexican who has not much knowledge of the intricacies of China and India's cultural background).
Yu actually doesn't recommend reading abridgements in the preface of this version because even if it makes Journey to the West easier to read as it trims chapters a lot of the magic of the story gets lost. it is a very big time commitment but i do think it's worth it. also it is very funny when it wants to be. i'm still not over Wukong's "visit" to the Underworld personally. insane.

Hari #29 Past and Future
Akhirnya kembali lanjut menulis lagi setelah jadwal di beberapa pekan kebelakang yang padat.
Semoga setelah ini bisa Istiqomah menulis lagi sampai hari 100.
Buku yang saya baca kali ini berjudul "Selasa Rahasia" karya Najeela Shihab. Sebenernya Selasa Rahasia ini adalah segment Q&A dari Kak Najeela yang diadakan rutin setiap hari selasa di IG kak Najeela. Mirip-mirip Q&A nya Masgun tetapi ini dengan pembawaan dan orang yang berbeda karena Kak Najeela sendiri adalah seorang psikolog.
Q&A nya ini dibuat kedalam buku yang cukup tebel menurutku tapi asik dibaca karena yang aku baca ini adalah curhatan orang dari keadaaan yang nyata di sekitar kita.
Ditulisan ini aku mau membahas salah satu pertanyaan tentang laki-laki dinilai dari masa depannya dan perempuan dinilai dari masa lalunya.
Kak Najeela sendiri menulis dibukunya kalau sebenarnya tidak ada pembedaan antara laki-laki dan perempuan yang tidak berhubungan dengan kodrat dan tujuan penciptanya termasuk dalam menilai amalnya.
Menurutku benar kata Kak Najeela It doesn't fair if women are only judged by her past and men judged by his future.
Semua orang pernah berbuat salah di masa lalu dan Tuhan Maha Pengampun. Semua orang punya kesempatan untuk memperbaiki kesalahan dan merancang masa depannya yang baru dan yang lebih baik tanpa melihat gender laki-laki atau perempuan.
Masa depan yang baik adalah milik semua orang yang berusaha untuk berubah kearah yang lebih baik.

For some reason, I've found myself most recently reflecting on the words of my middle school PE teacher. Whilst teaching us how to juggle scarves, and then bean balls and rings as our skills increased, he demonstrated to us what he wanted us to do with objects we threw too far for our hands to catch. He threw the ball to arch from one hand to his other hand, but, seeing that the ball was going to fall a few inches away from his other hand, let it drop. As it fell to the ground, he gave us these words that have preoccupied my mind:
Practice does not make perfect. Practice makes permanent. It's better to drop a ball and pick it up to try again than it is to reach out and catch that ball. In the short term, it might be frustrating to have to pick up the ball so many times when you could just reach out and grab it in the air. However, letting the ball drop allows you to learn how to do it properly. When you compensate for the mistake you make in an attempt to salvage your attempt, what you're doing is allowing your body to learn to continue making that mistake. And when you do that, you will always find yourself having the same problem as you try to juggle. And by that point, you will need more effort to unlearn that mistake than you would have needed to learn it properly in the first place.
So it makes me think: people say that experience is valuable because it means you get better at something. But maybe that's not it. Maybe experience simply builds habits, and it's more important to pay attention to what habits you're building than how much experience you're gaining.
And in that case, it's more important to do the right thing so that you naturally fall into doing the right thing without thinking, rather than doing the easy thing and finding it harder to do the right thing later, when it matters most to you and everyone else.

I always use to follow what I decided for 4/5 days and again the same routine. Beware of ur thoughts. Your Brain will stop you. It will say chuk it vl do it later. You have lots of time. Letz Start from tomorrow etc etc N no. Of reasons. Then, I apply 5 sec rule ... at the count of 5 get started This book helped me ... I too started making such chart , lists day by day and now I formed few good habits as Waking up at 5am 30 mins Exercise 30 mins walk 5 -10 mins meditation Daily reading one chapter of any book. Having bf, lunch , dinner on time Time management and many more You need one accountable partner at beginning and my accountable partner was my alarm. Hari #22 Belajar Bagaimana Realitas Bekerja
Manusia memiliki kemampuan untuk beradaptasi dan dunia sekitar selalu bergerak dengan cepat. Bahkan ketika tulisan ini dibuat, di belahan eropa sana sedang terjadi perang dan akibatnya beberapa harga komoditas naik gila-gilaan. Ketika harga komoditas naik maka ini akan berimbas kepada kenaikan harga beberapa kebutuhan pokok dan dari kenaikan harga kebutuhan pokok ini lah beberapa orang mulai berpikir cara untuk bertahan hidup.
Orang-orang mulai mencari akal bagaimana agar tidak bergantung dari pasokan gas alam Rusia sehingga mereka kembali menggunakan batu bara dan hasilnya harga batu bara melesat tinggi dan ini disebabkan hukum supply and demand yang kita pelajari di mata pelajaran ekonomi saat sekolah dan hukum tersebut adalah suatu hukum realita yang tidak bisa kita elak.
Masih banyak sekali aturan atau hukum yang kita pelajari di sekolah dan terbukti di realitas sekarang. Kita harus beradaptasi dengan hukum tersebut dan mengimprovisasi apa yang ada di sekitar kita agar berjalan sesuai dengan realitas.
Lalu jika kita sudah berimprovisasi dan gagal maka kita harus belajar dengan cepat lalu lakukan improvisasi dengan cepat lalau gagal dengan cepat lagi dan ulangi kembali siklusnya. Kuncinya adalah gagal, belajar dan melakukan improvisasi dengan cepat karena dunia bekerja dengan cepat juga.
Aku jadi ingat perbincanganku dengan teman terkait salah satu bank digital yang meluncurkan aplikasi perbankan syariahnya dan ketika saya coba banyak sekali bugnya. Mereka menggunakan metode pengembangan yang bersifat Agile yang dimana product dirilis dengan cepat agar tidak kalah saing lalu perbaikan dan pengembangan dirilis dengan cepat. Tentu alasan mereka melakukan ini agar bisa bersaing dengan Bank lainnya yaitu dengan cara mengeluarkan fitur baru yang tidak dimiliki bank lain sehingga bisa menarik konsumen meski banyak bug yang membuat produk tersebut gagal tetapi mereka bisa belajar dari situ.
Dunia bergerak dengan cepat dan kita dituntut untuk belajar dengan cepat juga.
