How to Damp Proof Your House?
When it rains, it sets your mood, and the smell of earth creates magic in the air. While enjoying this pleasant weather and looking at beautiful skies from your home, the thought of a roof leaking or a patch of fungus developing on your wall suddenly strikes. You become anxious and don’t know what to do at that moment.
So, to avoid this situation, Damp Proofing North East is crucial.
Your house must be ready to face any obstacles in any weather, especially during rain or snow.
Tips to Protect Your House from Rain
Apply a Protective Layer On Your Walls
Your walls are the ones that got adversely affected most during the rainy season. These structures absorb moisture from ground and leads to dampness in the wall. Make sure that there must be no crevices inside the wall, and if you find the one, seal it immediately.
Remember to apply preventive measures on external walls that can also prevent dampness coming inside.
If the property gets damaged, choose Property Repairs.
Ensure the Electrical and Plumbing Security
One of the serious concerns during rain is the electrical faults. Check these electrical wiring and points before the monsoon arrives. It is because moisture and electricity can cause catastrophic hazard in your household.
Check if there is any blockage in the pipes because water gets accumulated that can spread deadly diseases. Moreover, water leakages also lead to moisture that acts as a breeding spot for fungus. This will generate obnoxious smell in the interiors. Safeguard your property with expert electrical and plumbing security solutions from a trusted Building Contractor in the North East.
A Clear Drainage Path
Water gets clogged in the drain pipes that brings additional load on the ceilings and cause the weakening of the structure. Consequently, there can be short circuits, which will generate more issues. Ensure that the rooftop drains are devoid of obstacles.
Go for Damp Proofing North East to avoid any damage to your property.

Killingworth Township, also called Killingworth Towers, was part of an ambitious plan for a semi-independent "Newtown" project north of Newcastle. It originally incorporated a very ambitious and large central complex of office, commercial and residential facilities, including tower blocks, as well as a lofty idea for a shuttle monorail (it was, after all, the 1960's). The principal designer was the architect Roy Gazzard, who had previously worked on town planning projects in then Colonial Uganda. The built estate compromised an initial area of the central zone, let as contract B19. The second phase was drawn out and ready when, just as the first was completed, the project was cancelled.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It compromised 27 blocks between 6 and 10 storeys on a sloping site, built by the primarily Scottish contractor Crudens, using the Swedish panel system "Skarne", popularised after its use at the development of Orminge, Värmdö, east of Stockholm, starting in 1961. A rough, brutalist finish was chosen, to evoke a sense of stone and fortress, a "modern castle town", it was called--the individual buildings were referred to as "towers", in the sense of fortress towers. The plan encompassed 1,528 dwellings; in the end, only half, 740, were actually built, and the opposite site that left vacant until developed with conventional sprawl much later.
The estate was initially fairly well received, even media not being too harsh on it (!), but during 1973, Newcastle council -- much as Manchester later would do -- prohibited families from dwelling in council flats that were not at ground level. The vast majority of Killingworth compromised 5 apartment maisonettes, and the dwellings were thus left for singles and childless couples who-unsurprisingly-found them too expensive. The result was a predicable high level of vacancy, and a rapid decline in its status. The shopping centre was never fully developed and local service provision was lackluster, further compounding the issues. Although structurally sound and with little physical problems, the cost of maintaining so many vacant flats made the council take the decision to demolish the estate in 1987. It was quickly razed.

How many B-21 bombers will the U.S. need? Experts say more than 100
The U.S. Air Force originally wanted to build 80 to 100 bombers when the aircraft was first announced. But the world of 2023 is much more dangerous than the world of 2016.
Fernando Valduga By Fernando Valduga 12/13/2023 - 08:51am Military
The original number of bombers would have difficulty fulfilling conventional and nuclear missions in a great war.
The B-21 Raider bomber, which has been under secrecy since 2016, made its long-awaited first flight on November 10. Now that the bomber is really flying, it is worth asking: how many stealth bombers does the United States really need?
With China, Russia, Ukraine, Iran and North Korea dominating the headlines for one reason or another, the 80-100 bombers that the U.S. Air Force originally wanted to build now seem like a mere starting point.
The B-21 Raider bomber was announced in 2016 with great fanfare and should replace the B-1B Lancer bomber and the B-2A Spirit bombers. In 2023, the average age of the B-1B bomber fleet was 34.5 years, while the average age of the B-2A fleet was 27.35 years. Both bombers have been out of production for a long time, and the B-1B, in particular, suffers from maintenance problems, since the contractors who originally supplied spare parts are no longer on the market. There is also the issue that planes suffer from outdated technology that makes them less able to penetrate enemy airspace as originally intended: bomb a target and then flee.
Tumblr media
The B-21 will serve alongside the B-52J, an updated version of the B-52 Stratofortress bomber, 76 of which are still flying. The B-21 was originally designed as the penetrating bomber, while the B-52J was the non-penetrating bomber that could bomb targets in a permissive environment (think: Afghanistan or Iraq), or launch salvaes of long-range conventional or nuclear missiles beyond enemy radar and the range of air defense missiles.
Since 2016, the rivalry between China and the United States has become more intense and China has doubled the number of nuclear weapons installed. The United States is also involved in a direct war with Russia, imposing strict sanctions on Moscow as a result of its invasion of Ukraine; a new Cold War with Putin's Russia seems almost inevitable. At the same time, North Korea now has intercontinental ballistic missiles that can hit the United States, while Iran uses its representatives in the Middle East to attack American targets, while continuing its nuclear weapons program.
Tumblr media
Throughout Europe, Asia and the Middle East, long-term peace prospects have not improved since 2016 – they have worsened substantially. Assuming that all this changes the strategic calculation and that we need more bombers, how many do we really need?
How many bombers for a nuclear war?
Let's examine the nuclear mission first. Many of the U.S. Air Force bombers perform conventional and nuclear functions. A B-2 bomber, for example, could launch JASSM-ER cruise missiles with conventional warheads against Chinese targets on a day and launch B83 gravitational thermonuclear bombs on Russian targets the next day. Still, only a subset of the U.S. Air Force heavy bomber force has a nuclear function: although all 20 existing B-2s have nuclear capability, none of the remaining 45 B-1B Lancer bombers and only 40 of the 76 B-52H bombers can carry nuclear weapons. This leaves 60 of the 141 bombers for nuclear missions.
Tumblr media
If the U.S. goes to war with Russia, or with China, or with Russia and China, it must contain a series of bombers and keep them on alert 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, armed with nuclear weapons and ready to fly. A conventional war between nuclear powers could quickly turn into a nuclear war, and bombers on conventional combat missions would probably not be able to return in time to rearm them with nuclear weapons. By the time they flew back to the continent in the United States, there may be no more base to return.
In 2023, Russia deployed 1,674 nuclear weapons, while China deployed about 410, and North Korea between 35 and 65. China is currently embarking on a nuclear construction that the Pentagon believes will raise the total number of nuclear weapons deployed to 1,500 by 2035. North Korea is probably expanding its nuclear arsenal, although, being a poor country, there will eventually be a limit to the number of weapons it can use at the same time.
Tumblr media
Sixty nuclear-capable bombers is presumably the minimum number that the USAF considers necessary to face nuclear war scenarios involving Russia, China and North Korea. The U.S. Air Force should also consider the possibility, however small, that, at some point, it may be forced to fight Russia and China at the same time. If the Chinese arsenal increases by 66 percent, we may need a corresponding increase in the minimum number of bombers, in addition to a handful of extras. As a result, we may want to increase the number of nuclear-capacity bombers from 60 to 90, with all 40 B-52J and 50 B-21 placed on nuclear alert.
How many bombers for conventional warfare?
In a conventional war, Air Force bombers would be used as missile carriers, launching missiles against long-range enemy targets. All existing U.S. Air Force bombers - a total of 141 B-1, B-2 and B-52 - can perform conventional combat missions. Most of today's bombers, such as the B-52H and B-1B, are better off launching cruise missiles against enemy targets, while the B-2 can still penetrate enemy airspace.
Tumblr media
If we assume that the USAF replaces the B-1 bombers with B-21 bombers on a 1:1 basis, this gives us a need for 45 B-21. Once again, we may have to wage a conventional war against Russia and China at the same time or, at least, wage one while deterring the other. We could consider increasing the number of B-21 for conventional operations by 50%, giving us a total of 67 B-21.
This is not an excessively high number, but to launch a key in this, the U.S. Air Force also stated that the B-21 was built with other missions in mind, including intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions, and electronic attack. Some studies predict it with a maritime attack role in Asia-Pacific, sowing minefields near mainland China and hunting Chinese navy warships. We could add ten more bombers per mission, totaling 97 B-21 for conventional missions.
Tumblr media
In total, our approximate calculations reveal that the U.S. should buy about 147 B-21 Raider bombers, plus 76 B-52J, for a total of 223 heavy bombers. This is significantly higher than the 80-100 B-21s launched when the bomber was first announced, but less than the 290 bombers that the U.S. Air Force intended to have at the end of the Cold War.
The conclusion
The world of 2023 is more dangerous than the world of 2016. The world of 2029, exactly when the first B-21 enter service, can be even more dangerous. The first mission of the bombers should be to stop the war; the second mission should be to fight if the deterrence fails. Fewer bombers in peacetime makes sense, but more bombers in times of tension to deter opponents and make war less likely also makes sense.

LOXTON-DUCHÊNE
Tumblr media
Loxton-Duchêne is a steel and rubber manufacturing conglomerate that operates mainly in the EU and North-Central Africa. They operate and oversee steel mills, rubber factories, construction, and electronics assembly services.
Originally two separate companies, Loxton Steel Works and Duchêne Rubber, the two merged in the early 2030s during the stock market collapse immediately following the war. They would become one of the largest sub-conglomerates of OURO along with Hastasavitr, Yellow Horse and Mallory Radium. In the British territory of Auxiliary (comprising East Sussex and Kent), Loxton-Duchêne has formed a branch plant government and functions as a mostly self-contained region.
Loxton-Duchêne makes most of its revenue through contract work with its fellow sub-conglomerates or government infrastructure projects. It is the main contractor for building over the destroyed, uninhabitable areas of Britain, mainly Old London, and the construction of concrete cities.
Most of Loxton-Duchêne’s workforce is comprised of krtrim. Through their employment, they are awarded ration tickets. Asalee workers are paid in standard cuprum, the currency of the EU. Loxton-Duchêne provides housing, facilities, and other accommodations, as well as its own private security force. Though these services are greatly superior to what the poorer EU government can provide, corruption runs rampant.

E. Schelling Contractor (Photo taken by Scott Fajack on March 27, 2023 at Valentine St. near Cerro Gordo St. in the Elysian Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles, CA)
In 1909, Schelling was awarded the contract for improving "Manzanita St," including grading and graveling, cement curb, and cement gutter, vitrified block gutter; at the same time he was also awarded the contract for a portion of Cerro Gordo St. so that may be this sighting. In the same year, he submitted a bed for constructing Section 3 of South Los Angeles Main Sewer (Southwest Contractor and Manufacturer, Volume 3, Engineers and Architects Association of Southern California, 1909)!
In 1916, Schelling "abandoned the contract before full performance thereof" for the construction of a street improvement in Vancouver (The Pacific Reporter, Volume 154, West Publishing Company, 1916). How scandalous!
In the same year, he was noted as being in Burbank, CA, where he was awarded the contract for improving Glendale avenue in Glendale, between First street and Verdugo road (Contractor, Volume 23, McGraw Publishing Company, 1916).
By the following year, E. Schelling was located at 4316 South Figueroa street in the South Figueroa Corridor neighborhood of Los Angeles, CA. Almost all the info I found was in 1917, so get ready for a lot from Southwest Builder and Contractor, Volume 50 (F. W. Dodge Company, 1917).
He submitted bids to the Los Angeles "board of public works for grading and oiling Burns avenue between Virgil and Vermont avenues" including "grading to finished surface," ...cultivating, tamping, and oiling, ... Class A cement curb, ... cement walk, ... (and) concrete gutter;" "for constructing cement curbs and sidewalks on Echo Park avenue between Vestal avenue and Donaldson street;" "for the improvement of Effie street between Micheltorena street and Maltman avenue" including "rough grading, … finish grade and oil, … curb, …side walk, …concrete gutter, … (and) storm drain;" "for improving Myra street from santa Monica boulevard to Hoover street" including bitulithic paving including grading, rough grading to grade, finishing grading, oiling and rolling, cement curb, cement sidewalk, concrete gutter, storm drain, and remodeling sanitary sewer manhole; for "improving Bates avenue from Effie street to Sunset boulevard," including asphalt paving, rough grading, finishing grade and oil, curb, sidewalk, concrete gutter, brick gutter, and storm drain; "for grading and oiling Eagle street between Ezra street and Concord street" including rough grading, finish grade and oil, curb, sidewalk, and concrete gutter; "for rough grading and grading to finish grade at Lemoyne and Baxter streets;" "for grading and oiling and constructing cement curbs, sidewalks and gutters on Grafton street between Lucretia avenue and Lemoyne street;" "for grading an oiling and constructing cement curb, sidewalk and gutter and storm drain in Preston avenue between Husted street and Avalon street;" "for grading and oiling and constructing concrete pavement, cement curb, sidewalk and gutter in Twenty-fifth street between Nevin and Compton avenues." He pretty much seems to have done most of Echo Park!
He submitted a bid "for constructing a concrete retaining wall 1185 ft. long on south side of Brooklyn avenue east of Evergreen avenue."
In 1918, Schelling was still on Figueroa and was awarded the "contract for grading and oiling Preston Ave." and "for the improvement of Myra St. between Santa Monica Blvd. and Hoover St.," which had been submitted in the year prior (Engineering and Contracting: Buildings, General Contracting, Structures and Civil Engineering, Volume 49, Myron C. Clark Publishing Company, 1918).
In October of 1920, Schelling had a $20k "paving and sidewalk contract in a new sub-division in the north part of Los Angeles near Eagle Rock." In November of 1920, Schelling was listed as being located in Venice and being "low bidder of improvements on the South Mountain Road near Santa Paula, Ventura County." Plus, Russel and Whitney noted that "Mr. Schelling has been very busy of late and is very anxious to start his new 30-B Bucyrus shovel which was recently shipped to him" (Russell, I.T. and C. W. Whitney. "Notes from the Pacific Coast," Excavating Contractor, Volumes 13-14, A.B. Morse Company, 1916). [Obviously Google Books is wrong here because the edition is from 1920, so the volume cannot be from 1916.]
Tumblr media
The only E. Schelling I found in the Los Angeles area around this time who seems to have something to do with the contractor business is Eugene Schelling. According to the 1940 Census, Eugene was born in 1882 in Switzerland and lived at 920 S Fremont in Los Angeles, California. That is not currently an address. I am guessing it was taken out by the 110 freeway. He died in 1951 and is buried at Angelus Rosedale Cemetery in L.A. (Find a Grave). However, knowing all this, I was able to confirm that Eugene is our E. Schelling, as per the 1917 Los Angeles City Directory, Eugene Schilling or Schelling or Shilling was located at 4316 S. Figueroa and was a contractor (Los Angeles Directory Co., accessed via the Los Angeles Public Library's Historic City and Business & Phone Directories Collection).
This led me to find a bigger job that Eugene did with an Oscar Schelling. ("Road Construction with a Diesel Oil Dragline: California Contractor Handles a Fill Along the Pacific Coast with Remarkably Low Fuel Cost." Contractors and Engineers Monthly, Volume 6, pg. 73, Buttenheim-Dix Publishing Corporation, 1923). For a contract that H.H. Peterson had, Eugene and Oscar did the earth-moving work.
In the 1940 Census, Oscar Schelling, also born in Switzerland around 1877, lived at 427 Orange Grove in Glendale, CA with the Groshong family. He was a graduate of the "scientific course" at Los Angeles High School (Annual Report, Board of Education of the City of Los Angeles, 1897). In 1910, Oscar had a patent for a grapple (?) with A. A. Phillips ("Gas-Appliance Patents," The Natural Gas Journal, Volume 4, Periodicals Publishing Company, 1910). I don't yet know his relationship to Eugene but perhaps they were brothers?
Tumblr media
Oscar was also in the construction business. He had a contract for a highway in Seal Beach, California, in which he used a 30-B Bucyrus dragline excavator driving with a Diesel oil engine as pictured here (pg. 122, April 1923, "Pacific Coast News," Excavating Engineer, Volumes 16-17, A.B. Morse Company, 1922). The day shift included Harvey Kramer as engineer and Arthur Schelling (also of unknown relation) as oiler; the night shift had Frank Mayes as engineer and Sam Viluda as oiler (Birkhead P.H., "Pacific Coast News," Excavating Engineer, Volumes 16-17, A.B. Morse Company, 1922).

Vastu and Traditional Design Principles in Temple Construction
Tumblr media
Temple construction in India is deeply rooted in spiritual, cultural, and architectural principles. For centuries, temples have been constructed according to Vastu Shastra, an ancient architectural science that guides the design and layout of sacred spaces to ensure they are in harmony with cosmic energy. The role of specialized temple construction contractors in India has been integral to bringing these principles to life. Whether working in Rajasthan, Gujarat, or other regions, these contractors have mastered the traditional skills needed to build temples that align with Vastu and reflect their respective regional styles. In this article, we explore how temple contractors in Rajasthan and temple contractors in Gujarat apply Vastu Shastra and traditional design principles in temple construction to create sanctified spaces that stand as testaments to India’s rich cultural heritage.
The Importance of Vastu Shastra in Temple Construction
Vastu Shastra, often referred to as the “science of architecture,” guides the orientation, layout, design, and energy flow within temples to optimize spiritual harmony. Originating from ancient Hindu texts, Vastu principles focus on the balance between the five natural elements — earth, water, fire, air, and space — to create spaces that channel positive energy.
Temple Orientation: Vastu dictates that temples should ideally face east, where the sun rises, symbolizing spiritual enlightenment. East-facing temples are believed to bring prosperity and harmony, aligning with the cosmic energies for optimal blessings.
Temple Layout: The Garbhagriha (sanctum sanctorum), or inner sanctum where the deity resides, is at the core of the layout, representing the universe’s center and symbolizing the connection between the human soul and divine energy.
Temple construction contractors in India who are skilled in Vastu principles ensure that every element, from the temple’s entryway to the orientation of the prayer halls, follows these ancient guidelines. This attention to Vastu is especially essential for major temple projects in culturally rich states like Rajasthan and Gujarat, where respect for tradition is deeply ingrained in the community.
Traditional Design Principles in Temple Construction
Beyond Vastu Shastra, each region in India has unique architectural styles that reflect its cultural and historical influences. Temple contractors in Rajasthan and temple contractors in Gujarat bring distinctive skills to their projects, showcasing Rajasthan’s grandiose sandstone structures and Gujarat’s intricate marble carvings. Let’s look at how contractors incorporate traditional design elements in temple construction:
Nagara Style in North and Western India:
The Nagara style, prominent in North India, is characterized by its tall, beehive-shaped spires or shikharas. Temples built in this style often have intricate carvings and are usually elevated on a platform.
Temple contractors in Rajasthan are experienced in working with Nagara-style temples, using sandstone to craft the shikharas and designing mandapas (pillared halls) that lead to the Garbhagriha. These contractors use traditional carving techniques to create elaborate sculptures and motifs that adorn the exterior walls, enhancing the temple’s visual grandeur.
Maru-Gurjara Style in Gujarat and Rajasthan:
The Maru-Gurjara style, found in Rajasthan and Gujarat, is distinguished by its intricate carvings, symmetrical domes, and unique latticework. This style emphasizes detail and delicacy, especially in Jain temples.
Temple Contractors in Gujarat are skilled in this style, using marble to create intricate patterns and symbolic carvings. Contractors in Gujarat specialize in jali (latticework) and detailed friezes, which add beauty and provide ventilation and light.
Symbolism and Sacred Geometry:
Temples are designed using mandalas or sacred geometric patterns that serve as spiritual maps. Contractors skilled in traditional designs apply these patterns to ensure every section of the temple is aligned with divine symbolism.
Symbolic motifs, such as the lotus (representing purity) and the kalasha (pot) placed atop the temple’s spire, are integral to the temple’s spiritual resonance. Expert temple construction contractors in India meticulously incorporate these elements to retain the symbolic depth of temple architecture.
The Role of Temple Contractors in India in Implementing Vastu and Design Principles
Experienced temple construction contractors in India play a vital role in bridging tradition with modern construction requirements, ensuring that Vastu principles and traditional designs remain central to every project. Contractors with expertise in Rajasthan and Gujarat understand the distinct architectural requirements of their regions, from sourcing local materials to employing artisans skilled in traditional techniques.
Material Sourcing:
Temple contractors in Rajasthan often work with red and yellow sandstone, which has been used for centuries in the region’s temples. Sandstone is both durable and suited to the intricate carvings of Nagara-style architecture.
Temple contractors in Gujarat, on the other hand, frequently use marble for its visual appeal and symbolic purity, particularly in Jain temples. Sourcing quality marble from local quarries ensures that temples reflect Gujarat’s cultural aesthetics.
Collaboration with Artisans:
Skilled artisans who specialize in carving, painting, and stonework are essential for achieving authentic traditional designs. Contractors maintain strong connections with local artisan communities, enabling them to recreate detailed carvings and symbolic motifs.
Contractors in both Rajasthan and Gujarat often work with artisans experienced in Vastu-oriented design, ensuring that their craftsmanship aligns with the spiritual energy intended for each temple. This collaborative approach not only preserves traditional skills but also enhances the sanctity of temple spaces.
Balancing Tradition with Modern Construction Needs:
Temple construction contractors in India are often required to incorporate modern facilities for safety, durability, and accessibility. Balancing these needs with traditional aesthetics requires innovative solutions.
Contractors employ advanced techniques to reinforce the structure without compromising the design. For example, temples in Rajasthan may need additional structural support due to the large, heavy stones used in construction. Contractors ensure that the support structures are seamlessly integrated, preserving the temple’s authenticity.
Case Studies: Application of Vastu and Traditional Design in Temple Projects
Akshardham Temple, Gujarat:
Built in Gandhinagar, the Akshardham Temple exemplifies a modern approach to Vastu-aligned temple construction. The temple’s orientation, spatial design, and sanctum placement all adhere to Vastu principles.
Temple contractors in Gujarat worked closely with Vastu consultants and used local materials to create a space that combines tradition with modern architecture, attracting millions of devotees annually.
Dilwara Temples, Rajasthan:
Located in Mount Abu, the Dilwara Temples are renowned for their intricate marble work, a hallmark of Maru-Gurjara architecture. The temples’ layout, central sanctum, and use of light align with Vastu principles, creating an atmosphere of serenity.
Temple contractors in Rajasthan continue to maintain and restore these temples, ensuring that their intricate carvings and Vastu-based design remain intact for future generations.
Dwarkadhish Temple, Gujarat:
As one of the Char Dham pilgrimage sites, the Dwarkadhish Temple is a significant spiritual center. Its east-facing orientation, along with the use of traditional symbols like the lotus and kalasha, reflects Vastu guidelines.
Contractors involved in recent restorations were experts in Gujarat’s architectural style, ensuring the preservation of its Vastu-aligned layout and intricate designs.
Challenges in Implementing Vastu and Traditional Design Principles
Despite their dedication to Vastu and traditional design, temple construction contractors in India face several challenges:
Adapting to Modern Regulations:
Temples today must comply with safety codes and accessibility standards, which can be difficult to integrate with Vastu-based designs. Contractors often have to find innovative solutions to accommodate these requirements without compromising the traditional layout.
Balancing Costs and Traditional Materials:
Sourcing high-quality materials like marble or sandstone can be costly, especially when using traditional construction methods. Temple contractors in Rajasthan and temple contractors in Gujarat must balance authenticity with budget constraints, sometimes opting for modern alternatives that resemble traditional materials.
Scarcity of Skilled Artisans:
As fewer young artisans enter the field, contractors face challenges in sourcing the skilled labor needed for traditional temple projects. Many contractors invest in training programs to ensure the continuity of these ancient skills.
Environmental Impact and Sustainability:
Quarrying and transporting traditional materials can have an environmental impact. Some contractors are now exploring sustainable alternatives that mimic traditional aesthetics without harming the environment.
Conclusion
In temple construction across India, Vastu Shastra and traditional design principles remain foundational. Temple Construction Contractor in India , especially Temple Contractors in Rajasthan and temple contractors in Gujarat, carry forward these ancient practices by balancing spiritual and cultural heritage with modern construction demands. Their work ensures that temples continue to serve as sanctified spaces where architecture and spirituality intersect, creating places that inspire devotion and awe.
By adhering to Vastu and utilizing traditional materials and techniques, these contractors honor India’s rich temple-building legacy, preserving its significance for generations of devotees and visitors. Through skillful craftsmanship and dedication to tradition, they ensure that India’s temple architecture remains an enduring symbol of cultural pride and spiritual reverence.

Encana sold The Bow office project assets to H&R Real Estate Investment Trust in 2007 for $70 million, while signing a 25-year tenant lease agreement that was to start after the project's completion. Encana expected to occupy the entire tower.
In late June 2007, the company announced that the Portrait Gallery of Canada would not be moving from Ottawa into the Bow.
Groundbreaking took place on June 13, 2007, with work starting on both sides of 6 Avenue South between Centre Street and 1st Street East. Sixth Avenue was excavated, after closure of the block (August 21, 2007) and the six level underground parkade was constructed on a two block area, on both north and south side of 6th Avenue.
A neighbouring historic building – The York Hotel, built 1929–1930 in the Edwardian Commercial Architectural style – was demolished to make room for the new building. Because of the historical significance of the York Hotel, it was important to save as much as reasonable to incorporate into the new structure. Between 70 and 80 percent of the bricks were saved and used to reconstruct two of the hotel’s exterior walls. The brown brick originally supplied by Clayburn Brick in Abbotsford and the cast-in-concrete friezes have been removed, numbered and graphed to show the original location the brick and friezes were installed on the new building in their original locations. The remainder of the building was demolished ahead of schedule by Calgary-based demolition and environmental contractor Hazco.
