rimbaud had never seen verlaine look so soft before. but he still stood here, with a5158—chuuya—in his arms, holding him as if he were his own child. tenderly wrapping him in a blanket so they could take him back to france. his hands were almost terrifyingly gentle with chuuya—something that was rare with verlaine, if not unheard of. that alone had rimbaud frozen in awe. but what’s more was the way verlaine’s gaze on the child was reminiscent to a father’s—a father who would do everything and anything to keep the child safe and beside him. if rimbaud were not concerned of the outcome for their mission, he would’ve stopped to smile at that. such a humane act for verlaine would always be welcomed—except now. because now, they were required to give the child away. in fact, it shouldn’t even be referred to as a child. they weren’t supposed to get attached. yet somehow, this one time, verlaine had decided to do just that.

Had a thought, okay, the Old Boss seemed to retain his memories when Rimbaud absorbed him into his subspace, like he recognized Dazai and spoke to him like he knew him.

And Rimbaud himself, remembered Verlaine and everything he felt for him, waited and existed only to see him again.

The minds/emotions/personalities of the people Rimbaud absorbs and control would seem to be in tact.

So, listen, imagine a world where Rimbaud did succeed in killing and absorbing Chuuya. Imagine Rimbaud stuck with an angry teenage vessel that calls him a bitch every time he summons him. Who complains with every order like "Get off my back, old man!" and spends the whole fight insulting Rimbaud instead of the enemy.

Basically Rimbaud is Ash and Chuuya is his Charizard who hates him.

Imagine Dazai stalking Rimbaud and knocking on his door like, "Hey, found your hideout again, you're bad at this... Anyway, can my friend, you know, the one you killed, that friend, come out to play now?"

Imagine Rimbaud won and it was the worst thing that ever happened to him because now his life is being ruined by two annoying teenagers, one of which isn't even alive.

I've been contemplating whether or not to read Stormbringer recently

He was 7 when they took him out and he was left with no memory on the street and had to ask what bread was.

Hear me out: Verlaine and Rimbaud living happily in a ranch house in the French countryside with Chuuya who they adopted (read: stole). They live happily away from the control of any of their governments who want to use them.

And then a few years later, a group of kids, two of whom are currently younger than Chuuya, show up at their door asking for a place to stay for the night.

Verlaine does some digging and convinces Rimbaud to take them in.

And now Verlaine, who claims to be so far detached from humanity, is raising a bunch of kids.

Just like cute domestic moments with them too.

Teruko aging Chuuya up and him not getting any taller and getting upset

Tachihara tripping and scratching his nose and Verlaine cleans it and puts a bandaid on

Rimbaud using his ability when Jouno gets overwhelmed by things like thunderstorms

Tecchou eating his silly food combos and Verlaine, assuming this is normal people diet, joining in

They’re very careful about keeping them hidden because Rimbaud is worried the Japanese government will look for them (Verlaine and Chuuya both claim they would kick their asses causing Rimbaud to roll his eyes and kiss Verlaine and Chuuya to gag)

But eventually as time goes by, they calm down a bit

So we get Verlaine, Rimbaud, and their small army of government science projects at the amusement park and doing happy family activities and things like that
